Style Theory - I Found the Best and WORST Sunscreen for Your Skin
While this may not be the most rigorously scientific study, it shows pretty clearly you need to avoid sunscreen sticks. You just can’t get enough product on. I also avoid sprays. I feel it’s best to just stick (haha) with lotion.
This is a new device I just got and haven’t had it long enough to form an opinion. It’s a solar-powered (no charging!) UV exposure tracker. It connects to an app on your phone with BLE and tells you how much sun exposure you’ve had each day and when you’ll reach your limit, working in conjunction with your area’s weather forecast. I clip mine on to my Apple Watch wristband and forget it’s even there but it can also clip on your collar or sleeve, or you can catch a special with a free wristband. Unlike the SpotMyUV stickers, you can’t put your sunscreen over it.
You put one of these stickers on your exposed skin and apply your sunscreen over it. It will turn clear. When it starts to turn purple again, it’s time to reapply your sunscreen. Each sticker is about $1 but you can use the sticker all day (more than once). It’s smaller than a dime. Also available on Amazon.
Llumar is the brand of window tint I got for my two front car windows. (The windshield already has UV protection.) I got optically clear (which has a slight blue tinge) but there are various tints available as well. It means that if I’m just driving somewhere and not spending time outdoors, I don’t need to put on sunscreen.
In 2021 I believe it cost me $80 per window. Google and see if you can find someone who installs it near you. The Skin Cancer Foundation link in this list has other brands of film as well.
