duelist wei wuxian's mission in life is to force a reaction out of lan wangji, the most powerful magic-user of their generation. when they come up against one another in competition, wei wuxian finds out that there are downsides to getting exactly what you want.

“Did you need… assistance?” Seokjin asks, holding his breath as he waits for Jungkook’s answer and only slightly terrified he’ll say no, though it’s obvious instantly when his face melts into a warm grin that Seokjin had nothing to worry about.

“I mean… if it’s not too much trouble.”

He thinks of Ai Di, the brother, three years his junior, with a personality that blusters out ahead of him and gets him into scrapes.

And then he thinks of this other Ai Di—mouth open beneath his, waistband clutched in his fist, throat flexing under his palm. Taunting him about love and sex every day, like some sort of demon. Making him jealous, making him worry.

What is Ai Di to him? He doesn’t fucking know. He kind of hates him right now. And through it all, he loves him.

“They’re not sending me with an architect,” Captain Frelennye replies. “Much less anyone else.”

“I’ve received orders.” Vanyel’s never had an officer outright refuse his command. He’s not even certain that’s what’s happening right now.

“What, you’re an architect?” Captain Frelennye’s expression shifts, his brow pinching and gaze unfocusing. “Of course you are.”

“I’m not sure how a lowly human like you called me, but here I am,” His voice is deep, but not gruff or harsh like he was expecting. Porsche doesn’t have many preconceptions about demons as a whole, but everything he holds is being completely turned upside down and thrown out the window.

“Who are you?” Porsche croaks out, somehow finding his voice.

The demon’s eyes sharpen as he speaks, the slitted black pupils contracting and opening again like a cat’s. It’s just as fascinating as it is unnerving.

“You’re the one that called my name,” He shrugs, gesturing around the room flippantly.

"Anakinn," Porsche says, the name rolling off his tongue smoothly. "You're Anakinn."

“When we were leaving the graveyard, I might have been thinking about how I wish I could have seen Senior Wei and Hanguang-jun in action when they were our age.” He slowly admitted. “Just before the wind picked up.”
The other three stared at him.
“What?! It was an idle thought! How was I supposed to know it might regress them into their younger selves?!”

Maybe he should have even stayed dead. That might have been easier than watching Lan Wangji, Hanguang-Jun, Lan Zhan, look at him with absolutely no recognition in his eyes.

“I’m always a delight to have around,” said the other man, briefly glancing away to peer at the city. His eyes narrowed, squinting intently at a random street. His ears twitched intently on his head, flattening on top of his skull like an angry cat before shaking his head and turning back around to stare at Kinn.

When you enter the palace, you become the king's woman. For Wei Ying and Lan Zhan, this was never supposed to be a problem.

Executed too quickly to retaliate, Yoongi’s free hand is lifted from its resting spot and promptly placed somewhere warm and unmistakably human. Then, Yoongi is looking up from his computer screen just in time to—

“Hyung, feel.” His hand is adjusted. “Feel here. No, like,” now Taehyung maneuvers Yoongi’s fingers so that they’re pressed right over the miniature slope of his flexed bicep, “there. That.”

Yoongi complies as if on autopilot, bewildered into silence. “That?” he parrots.

“Yes,” Taehyung says.

Suddenly and seemingly without reason, Kim Taehyung decides Old and Jaded Min Yoongi is prime mating material.

"A-Zhan, when are you going to find somebody? I'm not getting any younger!"

Neither is Lan Zhan. You don’t see him making such a fuss about it.

The thing that makes all of it worse — the thing Lan Zhan will never admit to his uncle, is rather reluctant to admit even to himself, because it’s fine, it really is, he’s fine — it that Lan Zhan does want. A family. He wants what his brother has, except maybe with one less partner in the mix. Ultimately, he’d like to be — in a relationship.

The problem is, relationships don’t really seem to want him.

Wei Ying laughs. Wei Ying always laughs, that is nothing new. “Why do you think that I’d let you?”

"This isn't a dream."

"It could be," Adam says, like he's offering something valuable, instead of lying to Ronan's face and asking him to lie to himself.

"We're caught in a time loop," Lan Zhan says. "This is the fifth iteration." There's a flash in his brain, a quick series of images, Wei Ying's lifeless eyes staring past him, over, and over, and over again. "It starts like this every time. It ends with you dead. Then it resets itself."

He watches Wei Ying process it, the flicker of his eyes, a tilt of his head, before he nods again, leaning forward, untangling his feet from the covers and pushing himself to the edge of the bed. "What have we tried?"

Taking a deep breath, and wincing from the pain resulted in the process, he turned around the tiniest bit. The beautiful visage of a man in deep sleep next to him hit Kim Dokja like an entire bucket of cold water.

What the fuck did he do.
