Twitter thread by Dr. Elisa Perego Evidence of cardiac involvement in a significant percentage of covid survivors, even with "mild" disease from Puntmann et al 2020
"cardiac MRI revealed cardiac involvement in 78 patients (78%) and ongoing myocardial inflammation in 60 patients (60%)
After Covid: 63% higher likelihood of heart attack 72% higher likelihood of heart failure 145% higher likelihood of cardiac arrest. atrial fibrillation (71% more likely), sinus tachycardia (84%) sinus bradycardia (53%) ventricular arrhythmias (84%).
"studies suggest that the risk of cardiovascular problems, such as a heart attack or stroke, remains high even many months after a SARS-CoV-2 infection clears up." Heart disease after COVID: what the data say
- 21 players were tested before and after #COVID19 infection
- post-Covid testing revealed abnormalities up to 2 months after infection, including raised heart rate
Possibly related: I’ve been seeing LOTS of otherwise young healthy men coming in with severe heart failure like EF of 10%. Is anyone else seeing this? Does this have to do with COVID? Like people in their 20-30s.
