“People I know are yet again talking about sudden health problems:

Hearing loss. Loss of smell. Movement issues. New onset asthma. Heart conditions. Clots in the legs. Zero connection being made to COVID.

The only thing public health succeeded at is covering their own ass.”

Every other person in SF’s Chinatown is wearing a medical mask right now. Relatively more masking is observed in working class communities of color in Oakland, too. The racial & class bias of mask bans are so clear. So is the cruelty of targeting communities hit hardest by Covid.

“So one can only conclude that the CDC purposefully redesigned their COVID graphic to downplay the severity and reduce attention paid to the —by far— number one cause of death by infectious disease.

Why? What purpose does this suppression serve?”

Making the map look MUCH MORE APPEALING.

This change was made with zero announcement, AGAIN, between September 4th and today.

“We haven’t seen a widely distributed virus in recent human history that has had this property.”

Covid-19 was presented as a one and done infection, that ‘only’ killed the vulnerable, that didn’t harm kids, that was spread by droplets not air.

“Covid-19 was presented as a one and done infection, that ‘only’ killed the vulnerable, that didn’t harm kids, that was spread by droplets not air. That vaccines would prevent. Now NONE of the above are true, we are floundering in denial with no plan. Covid is not over.”

“I genuinely thought there might be a momentary lull between the summer and autumn waves this year here. But no. There's tons of infections around, and XEC (which seems to be able to reinfect due to the T22N mutation on the spike, growth below) is not hanging around.”

I failed my 2nd NYS Road Test. I got confused when the tester asked me to parallel park “beside a Lexus” because we don’t parallel park *beside* cars. Once I was confused, it was all downhill from there. Something is wrong with my brain, & apparently I can’t live in the world…

News from yesterday's work call:

A former manager died on a plane, age 57.

A team in Europe lost 3 people over the summer, 2 from heart attacks and 1 from cancer. All under 60.

Other team members were annoyed that it left them with extra work. 😑

The two main takeaways from this graph are the following:

Overall, fewer than 20% of COVID-19 deaths are being reported in these public places in all provinces (a bit higher in Quebec in fall/winter season, but not much).

Provinces are only reporting 20% of COVID deaths, that would mean that Alberta's 735 deaths in the last 12 months is actually around 3675. Which would be by far the #1 cause of death.

US record-keeping is similarly limited/skewed

I'm used to not fitting in, but this whole society balls deep in its covid denial has transformed me into a complete outcast . I don't belong anywhere nor do I desire to be part of this pro infection society. This experience has left a lasting mark on me😷

Only 33% of hospitals in the U.S. submitted COVID data this week, which is similar to last week but down from 91% in May. This means actual case numbers and hospitalizations are substantially higher than reported.

I tested + for COVID again today. Same infection since March. 179 days. My insurance won't cover more Paxlovid to treat or Pemgarda to prevent (likely also treat). Still trying for mAbs, but FDA has threatened to pull Pemgarda. Afraid I'll lose my chance to clear this infection.

So anti-maskers found my post about how at the conf masks are required and somehow interpreted "everyone is complying" that socialists are some kind of submissive sheep. Y'all have no idea who you're dealing with at this event. 😂

translation/analysis thread on German Long Covid video which equates it with MECFS and calls ME “the most serious form of long covid.”

“currently it looks like an autoimmune disease where something has gone wrong with the vasculature, and both the mitochondrial dynamics and glycolytic metabolism are disturbed.

There are at least 500k patients in Germany.”
