About 3 months ago I was diagnosed with POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome) from long covid and I would like to share how difficult and frustrating it was to get diagnosed - every step of the way.
“New interdisciplinary review was published on current Long COVID science, with a roadmap for science and policy!
It is written in plain language, so it's worth a read on its own, but I just want to pull out some highlights about what WE DO KNOW into a single thread...”
US hospitals will be required to report key COVID, flu, and RSV hospitalization data again outside of public health emergencies, after initially ending the requirement earlier this year.
Advocacy works!
“Since 2020, the condition known as long COVID-19 has become a widespread disability affecting the health and quality of life of millions of people across the globe and costing economies billions of dollars in reduced productivity of employees and an overall drop in the work force.
The intense scientific effort that long COVID sparked has resulted in more than 24,000 scientific publications, making it the most researched health condition in any four years of recorded human history.”
“Think you’ve grasped the full extent of COVID’s ongoing impact? Think again. As Americans shrug off vaccines and forget indoor air quality, the virus stealthily continues its destructive path. This was pretty much inevitable without new guidance urging a change in strategy and nobody telling us the full truth.
The danger is clear and present: COVID isn’t merely a respiratory illness; it’s a multi-dimensional threat impacting brain function, attacking almost all of the body’s organs, producing elevated risks of all kinds, and weakening our ability to fight off other diseases. Reinfections are thought to produce cumulative risks, and Long COVID is on the rise. Unfortunately, Long COVID is now being considered a long-term chronic illness — something many people will never fully recover from.”
Blood abnormalities found in people with Long Covid
Study implicates lack of key hormone, damage to immune cells, and reawakened viruses.
Every time you catch COVID-19, your risk of other severe issues starts to rise.
Research is starting to show that with reinfection, your chance of serious issues such as diabetes, mental health issues, and chronic fatigue goes up.

This thread unpacks science, policy & hope.
1/11 SARS-CoV-2 & rapid loss of acquired immunity:
a 🧵 collecting various papers & results leading up to an idea:
rapid waning is
- actually chronic antigen exposure of a persistent SARS-CoV-2 infection
- leading to depletion/exhaustion of
- SC2 acquired immune memory
Truth is the ground beneath our feet.
Saying it’s OK to get COVID is quicksand.
Here’s solid ground: “post-acute sequelae of COVID-19…is a multisystemic condition comprising often severe symptoms…[with an] incidence of 10% of infected people.”
