“Tess Finch-Lees: It hasn’t gone away you know, Paris Olympics proved ignoring Covid is not a winner…’Olympic dreams shattered’, ‘Covid causing havoc’, ‘Everyone’s dropping like flies’: just some of the headlines from the Paris ‘post-Covid Olympics’. But when it comes to fighting Covid, there’s nothing.”
August 19, 2024: “South Korean news used to do updates on COVID numbers on all their news channels early on. During surges they still do 20 minute segments on COVID. This one is from yesterday. People still want this information. Wish we had this here in the US.”
"I’m just going to let you know, there were a lot of people in the village who had COVID that just didn’t say it. I’m just the most popular person who got COVID and actually said I had it."

“The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates 10–20% of people suffer from long COVID after they recover from the initial COVID infection.
Common symptoms include fatigue, shortness of breath and “brain fog”, but more than 200 different symptoms have been linked to long COVID. The condition affects daily functioning and can be debilitating.

ARBITRARY DENIAL of the OBVIOUS !
A great article in Greek that explains the denial surrounding the pandemic:
“We believe that understanding the strategy of "arbitrary denial of the obvious" is critical for a person as a unit and a society as a whole to develop the necessary defense against misinformation and propaganda.

Inferring from media reports, these were:
- wearing masks (KN95s) during air travel to the games
- wearing them in the Olympic village
- Frequent testing for Flu, Covid and other viruses
- Rapid use of antivirals (likely Paxlovid), which some athletes said helped them win medals after 1-2 days.
Some questions for all of you:
- How long until each country realizes the competitive advantage offered by not getting sick?
- Easily accessible antivirals kept Team Australia performing at their best, why can't you access them to stay healthy too?”
Imperata cylindrica or compounds show promise against COVID-19.
Tabanone, in particular, could inhibit a key viral protein and is considered safe, offering hope for new treatments.
Commonly known as “speargrass,” “cogongrass,” “alang-alang” or “kunai grass,” Imperata cylindrica is a member of the Poaceae family.
“The existing therapeutic alternatives have presented various setbacks such as low potency, poor pharmacokinetic profiles, and drug resistance. The need for alternative therapeutic options cannot be overemphasized. Plants and their phytochemicals present interesting characteristics that make them suitable candidates for the development of antiviral therapeutic agents. This study aimed to investigate the antiviral potential of Imperata cylindrica (I. cylindrica). Specifically, the objective of this study was to identify I. cylindrica phytochemicals that display inhibitory effects against SARS-CoV-2 main protease (Mpro)”
