“This is a by-donation facilitated, online, peer-support group for people negotiating continued safety measures in the face of the unfolding pandemic. Applications are currently open for a group starting in September.
Why this group exists
Governments, the medical system, and most of the general population are treating COVID as inevitable and a matter of individual responsibility - if they are thinking about it all. Those who continue taking precautions against infection continue to be isolated and face increasing pressures and stress navigating life while trying to decrease risk of infection.
The goal of this group is to create a space where people who continue to proactively protect themselves from COVID don’t have to explain or defend themselves. We can share sorrows, fears, and frustrations as well as resources, strategies, hope, and mutual support through open dialogue.”
“This space is tenderly held for all the Covid cautious loves.
So much about the pandemic has been overwhelming, exhausting, and too, too much. One of the things that has made it unbearable is living within a world that believes it’s over and the lack of care and support we experience in that split reality. Much of the grieving we have done has been in isolation — and grief, by its very nature needs to be held in, and witnessed by, community.
And so, we — myself, Mel Cassidy, and Britta Love — dreamt up these circles to provide space to hold and tend the specific grief of being people who take Covid seriously in a world that does not. Bring your grief. Bring your anger. Bring your hope. All of you is welcome”
