Sometimes, no matter how much we prepare or how many hours we put into something, the factors are not just quite right. Unfortunately, I did not break even on this event and left feeling quite defeated. The truth is, it's very hard to be an artist right now. Due to the cost of living crisis, the greed of landlords, and the rising use of AI (among many, many things) people are burned out, poorer than ever, and many are losing their homes and jobs. Artists are on the front lines of a lot of this because they have never traditionally had financial safety nets anyway, and counted on their patrons to be stable enough to be able to afford art. That's harder now when even people in "safe" jobs are struggling. AI is replacing so many human jobs in so many fields, very much including the arts and communication fields. As mor...
