How Cults Use Language to Control | Otherwords
How Cults Use Language to Control | Otherwords

Language is an integral part of how cults keep their members bonded, isolated and obedient. Covers research on speech patterns, thoughts-terminating cliches, jargon can function as a linguistic conspicuous consumption

also references Amanda Montell’s book Cultish

language empowers cult leaders to create a mini universe around their followers. the only defense is from knowledge as widely as possible. that way no one person has the power to shape your reality

It has little to no impact on my motivation, attention or ability to transition between tasks. I guess I just can’t be fooled by a timer that measures an arbitrary concept like time that my brain doesn’t recognise. myk 🎧🦕 on Instagram: "as i am approaching the end of my season of burnout (hopefully 🤞), i wanted to share some of the early signs that tell me i am approaching burnout. autistic burnout differs from regular burnout as it is often caused by prolonged exposure to sensory and social stressors, increased demands, and efforts to mask which can be draining over long periods of time. if i can notice the signs earlier, i can usually adjust my lifestyle to allow for more rest. however, this isn’t always possible and sometimes life just happens. this was the case for the last few months for me. i have been taking good care of myself and have been mindful of what it is that i really need in order to not feel exhausted and overwhelmed all of the time. i’m looking forward to sharing that with you soon. :) #autism #audhd #adhd #neurodivergent #actuallyautistic #autismacceptance #autismawareness #sensory #fidget #fidgettool #fidgettoy #focustool #stimming #autistic #audhdwomen #audhdmeme #adhdmem...

autistic people need to stop doing their best because that advice is what leads to self-neglect and autistic burnout

or

autistic people will push ourselves to the point of burnout because we interpreted the adage “do your best” too literally and ended up mistakenly thinking it means “stay at 100% output constantly”
