With the announcement of Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, you now have greater flexibility in the ways you can deploy Microsoft 365 Copilot and agents in your organization to accelerate your AI transformation. Moving forward, every organization will have a mix of Copilot Chat and Microsoft 365 Copilot —our best-in-class offering—to drive AI transformation at scale.
Copilot Chat (formerly Microsoft Copilot with enterprise data protection) offers users in your organization who are logged in with Microsoft Entra free, secure AI powered by GPT4.o, grounded in web data, and protected by Microsoft’s commitments to safeguard your enterprise data. Copilot Chat is available at no additional licensing cost for all Entra account users with a Microsoft 365 subscription.
With Copilot Chat, you can now also empower people in your organization to discover, use, and create agents. Agents can be enabled and managed by you, as an IT administrator, and are billed to your organization on a metered usage basis.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat offers:
Free, secure AI chat powered by GPT-4o
Pay-as-you-go agents grounded in shared tenant data, accessible right in chat
IT controls for data governance and management of agents, including enterprise data protection.
When you deploy Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, Microsoft respects your organization’s existing policies and control settings. Agents that access your organization’s shared tenant data are turned off by default. Admins need to set up or use an existing Copilot Studio subscription to enable these agents. Once enabled, they will be billed based on metered consumption. Agent availability will be based on your existing store settings for Teams and Microsoft 365 apps.
