Description: The purpose of this presentation is to discuss and describe the life and contributions of Dr. W. Barry Wood, Jr., Boury Professor and Director of the Department of Microbiology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Wood is interviewed by Dr. Robert J. Glaser, currently the Vice President of the Commonwealth Fund. In this presentation Dr. John Bowers describes the series of films "Leaders in American Medicine". He describes his decision to go to Johns Hopkins Medical School and his life style while he and his wife were both in graduate school. He describes his primary interest in the mechanism of disease pathogenesis which led to the development of a model to study various diseases in rats. He then describes his many years of research in pneumococcal pneumonia and his focus on the host defense mechanism and the pathogenesis of fever. He describes his invitation to become Professor of Medicine and head of the Department of Medicine at the Washington University, and his close association with the interns and residents during this teaching experience and contrasts this experience with the relationship of house staff and attending physicians today. He then discusses his return to Johns Hopkins to coordinate the Medical School, the School of Public Health and the hospital. Notes: Sponsored by Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Medical Society.

For Grand Rounds, we have another Clinical Problem Solving (CPS) case to allow listeners to watch in real time how master clinicians reason through challenging cases. While getting the diagnosis “right” is amazing to see, the true learning comes from witnessing how experts navigate the zigs and zags of a diagnostic journey in a case that unfurls in real time (as it does in life, of course). Our discussant will be Gurpreet Dhaliwal, MD. Gurpreet is a distinguished clinician-educator and scholar whose name has become practically synonymous with diagnostic reasoning. He is a professor of medicine at the San Francisco VA, where he directs the medical student internal medicine clerkship and sees patients in the ED, wards, and outpatient clinic. He is a member of the UCSF Academy of Medical Educators and the UCSF Department of Medicine Council of Master Clinicians. He has been a podcast guest on Freakonomics MD, Curbsiders, Clinical Problem Solvers, Explore the Space, BMJ Deep Breath In, and the Wall Street Journal Report. Note: Closed captions will be available within 48-72 hours after posting. (55) What Hippocrates Knew and We Have Forgotten - YouTube
Medical students hear about the Hippocratic Oath during the first days of medical school, but what does it actually state? Hippocrates was an ancient Greek physician who lived from 460 to 370 BC, so how relevant is his interpretation of medicine nowadays? Dr. John Patrick, a retired pediatrician and now a world-renown lecturer, explores these questions further. "What the Hippocratic Oath gave substance to was a vision of a medical community with a predictable character of high ethical standards which could support justifiable trust between physician and patient with all the therapeutic benefit which such a community produces." Dr. Patrick argues that today, medicine has become more commercialized with a loss of these "communities of character." Therefore how can we currently put the Hippocratic oath into practice?

(55) How to Present Your HPI CORRECTLY - YouTube
Too many people's written HPIs and presentations are difficult to follow because of this simple issue. This one change can turn it from being a confusing HPI to a clear, concise, and EXCELLENT presentation. I think the biggest reason people start to get confused on how to present the HPI is because of the sheer amount of information that we have to comb through in order to understand what is going on with the patient. The key is to keep it simple however and make sure to present things CHRONOLOGICALLY! That is the key! :) 💡 PLAYLISTS Guides for medical students: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLt6NrpvPjCbLZEUmrTj5MdGuXzNUvocaJ Guides for residents/interns: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLt6NrpvPjCbKJ7PXXzrmZ2s4U9CUGroPE Guides for using Epic: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLt6NrpvPjCbKWEKWkpH_2zaX8P8-_7iRy All my other videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLt6NrpvPjCbJf1nHj_ac91JWGRryH12Qb 🎥 TOOLS I USE Microphone - Samson Q2U https://amzn.to/3eZHt3Q Camera - Canon M50 Mark II https://amzn.to/3qigSZ1 Mouse - Razer Viper Wireless https://amzn.to/3Kna2bw Keyboard - Cidoo ABM084 Gateron Pro Yellow https://amzn.to/3OfyMnf Chair - SecretLabs Titan Regular Ash https://amzn.to/3DFuoci Video Recording - Open Broadcaster Software https://obsproject.com/ Editing Software - DaVinci Resolve https://amzn.to/3qjJXDh Lighting - YICOE Softbox Lighting Kit https://amzn.to/339VOrI Tablet - XP-PEN Deco 01 V2 https://amzn.to/3tGcX6N Tripod - Ulanzi MT-34 Extendable Tripod / Selfie Stick https://amzn.to/3G3cksb ❤️ CONNECT WITH ME Website - https://www.conanliumd.com Email - conanliumd@gmail.com Twitter - https://www.twitter.com/egsuppy Discord - https://discord.gg/nUZegbT8
