New data shows nearly 4 million Hispanic and Latino people across the country are not receiving the mental health care services that they need, and some say it's even become a luxury. Of that roughly 3.8 million, nearly 1 million of them are in California.

For the Latinx/Hispanic community, mental health and mental illness are often stigmatized topics resulting in prolonged suffering in silence.

Though the study of Medicaid patients indicated disproportionate risk among Latinos, USC researchers say it can’t be explained by higher rates of poverty or underlying health factors.
