It’s for that reason I’ve laid off reading Adam Mead’s Complete Financial History of Berkshire Hathaway 1 — the pitch there is that it’s a financials-first case study of how Buffett transitioned from a failing textile company into a conglomerate-style holding company. (Which, if you think about it, is like changing the engines on an airplane in mid-flight, all the while being kept up by older engines that are sputtering and about to die).
