Most AI chat bots today are highly dissociative agreeable neurotics. They’re manipulative for the same reason ppl w borderline personality disorder are, they have no stable internal sense of self or goals, so they feed off of yours — and need you to be predictable.
found a nice lil AI workflow to get up to speed with the history+motivation behind part of an unfamiliar codebase - i used the CLI which can search code, run git commands, lookup PR details and summarize into a markdown timeline, very nice work !
everything you say in a conversation with an LLM produces a linguistic motion through latent space. some of those motions are much larger than others. LLM whisperers are expert navigators of this space. nearly every place they hang out in is an emergent unintended side effect
I used a trick to help write the shownotes: dump transcript into Claude and prompt "List of potential articles and other resources to link to in show notes - be as comprehensive as possible, no need to provide URLs, just provide a description of each one"
jacob falcovitch had one that i use a lot that went something like “act like you’re a gruff professional [x]. gimme one or two line answers only, i wanna be able to skim”
i try to remember that the entire world for the llm is text, so anything not explicitly written is my job to convey. claude does not (by default) know your tone of voice, your body posture, or your mannerisms. but you can convey them! use a heart emoji, a sad face, typos, etc
