The framework doesn’t “make links through JavaScript”. It renders whatever HTML the developer tells it to. If the dev is using event handlers instead of native links, the dev’s own fault
I’d go further and say there’s a contingent that doesn’t really understand the grain of the web at all. I think there’s a chunk of the industry that came in several years ago from more conventional software backgrounds and never really gained that understanding
Another popular blog post that gets a lot of traffic is this one. If you've seen me streaming, you may have seen me use the alias "dam" in my terminal. Here's what it does!

When someone gives you the link to their personal/small business site, do you instantly go and inspect it in the browser? Or am I a special breed of dork?

In Iceland, on Christmas Eve, people give each other books so they can spend the evening drinking cocoa & reading. It’s called, Jolabokaflod, the Christmas book flood. I’ve never been more in love with Iceland than I am right now ♥️♥️
Trying to play CoD6. The usability of “how do I actually get into the campaign mode” is incredibly complicated - even when I anticipated it would be an issue and tried to install it a week in advance.
… I’ve got to the stage of sticking a physical post-it on my TV to measure progress…
Call me old-fashioned, but I truly believe soup is meant to be made in a cauldron over an open fire under a full moon with the sound of wolves in the distance.
Talking with an engineering manager:
"The first two years at this scaleup: I worked extremely hard to prove myself. I had impostor syndrome, and it was stressful.
Since a few months ago, I realized I'm doing fine. I chilled out.

Not a tiny carry on but here’s mine! It was all I brought for a 2 week solo Japan trip earlier this year, there was room still left to buy souvenirs/clothes 🫣
Packed another pair of shoes, 3 light shirts, 2nd skirt, 1 pant, 1 warmer jacket, other toiletries & personal items. Plus p950 camera!
We’ve just released the Pinwheel Figma plugin for exporting colour variables as Design Tokens JSON. We think it might be the first plugin to do this with full support of sRGB and Display P3. Also, it’s free. We hope you like it!
Just finished editing the last one 🥳
Doing that many videos back to back is definitely a bit of a slog, but I wanted to have this done by this week, and I'm sort of impressed by myself actually meeting that deadline, lol
hey! soooo, i left figma last month after 5.5 years. it’s so corny to feel this way about a job, but i *loved* this job.
in many ways, i grew up there. i checked off a ton of career dreams, and i grew as a person in ways i never expected. i am eternally grateful 💞
We're starting to write a blog about a great thing my team are working on. An accessibility annotations library for Figma for the GOVUK design system. We'll be open-sourcing it, so let me know if you'd like to try it before we put it out into the wild. It's a brilliant piece of work!
