'What nobody tells people who are beginners—we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years that you’re making stuff, what you’re making isn't so good. But your taste—the thing that got you into the game—your taste is still killer.' — Ira Glass

TIL that in 1984, a woman started hearing a voice in her head. The voice told her she had a brain tumor, where the tumor was, and how to treat it. Despite no other symptoms, doctors eventually ordered tests and found a tumor where the voice said it would be.

Bisphenol A — BPA — used in plastic packaging and in the linings of food and beverage cans, may be passed from a mother to offspring during pregnancy and cause changes in the gut bacteria of the offspring, with chronic inflammation in the offspring's intestines and liver, finds new study on rabbits.

When you shift your attention from one thing to another, your brain “blinks” between focusing on the two things. The blinks are short unconscious gaps in visual perception and came as a surprise to the team of psychologists who discovered the phenomenon while studying the benefits of attention.

I've read many of you claim that the 'benefits' of fasting don't really begin until the 20 - 24 hour mark. (I suppose you are referring to autophagy and fat adaption.) So, is anything short than that, say, a 16:8 schedule, really just calorie restriction?

Researchers create gel that grows huge numbers of stem cells with much less space, solving some of the biggest problems with producing new stem cells. The gel allows the cells to be grown in three dimensions instead of two and takes up less than 1% of the lab space required by current techniques.
