@kentcdodds Sorry if this is common knowledge that Iβm missing, but what makes this a hook and not just a Component?

In WW2 drag shows were popular with the troop (US and Britain) it was a way to relieve stress. One British unit came under attack while hosting a show so they had to fight while dolled up. The government tried to hide these photos for years.
Sometimes you get into a rut, and you record & re-record, and you get self-conscious, and you throw content away, and then you realize it's been months, and that it's better to publish average content than to not publish at all ππ€·ββοΈ

I much prefer making $50/month from making quality YouTube videos than making $50/month stirring shit on Twitter for engagement.

π This is universal React with the new "react-strict-dom" by @Meta (experimental):
β Light-weight, web-first API
β Truly native components on each platform
β No div-soup on web
β Fully accessible/indexable primitives
β Can be used with Tailwind CSS https://t.co/Y8N15jFP2n

Open source really requires a lot of skills beyond development. In the last few weeks I've been a tech writer, a PR person, a product manager, a marketer, a designer, an animator, and a video editor. Can't wait to ship this thing and get back to coding! π

π Quickly deployed the web demo too.
The entire Expo Router website supported pre-rendering to HTML without any additional work.
Pretty hard to go wrong with UI primitives powered by radix, tailwind, and shadcn/ui.

I love Youtube & get tremendous value out of channels I follow there, so much that I got a premium membership. But I'm really tired of all the productivity "gurus" there and on Instagram. Life isn't all about work! This message is coming from the heart of burnout btw. Hi π

This is how we widen the pit of success in React Native.
- Easier to add gestures/animations means youβll use more.
- Web standards means easier upgrades and more stable APIs.
- Behind-the-scenes optimizations means you donβt need to know which animation lib is the good one. https://t.co/lyOTCBjIY9

I was advocating for Tailwind before being part of the core team. I am advocating for Tailwind after being part of the core team.
Being part of that team for a few chapters of the journey was just the cherry on top π€

@peterpme Honestly crazy that people advocate using SwiftUIβa closed-source UI frameworkβin the year 2024.
Open source is an undeniably better model for component libraries.

Native cascade layers, variables for all theme values, opacity modifier support for variable colors via `color-mix` β brings me so much joy π₯Ή https://t.co/FfleBImEfO

The mouse reveals effect is a shader mask that selects between two images.
The mouse draws white on a texture with either canvas2d or GPGPU.
Then, the white fades to black so it goes back to the default image.
