The thing that makes science so addictive is the thrill of being the first member of the species to figure out a new thing. There is nothing else like it.
@ofureonline “Hacking Phillip was almost too easy. His password was ‘apples,’ same one he’s had since he was six. All it took me was knowing his favorite fruit, and I was in. I owned his whole system” https://t.co/J9Ec0mQXET
I would really like if software could stop repeatedly and aggressively pushing me to use features I am clearly not interested in. Just leave me alone. It’s my computer and my time, so stop invading both of these. It feels like someone is constantly badgering me.
A big issue in big orgs is when the opinion of a subject matter expert is considered equally to someone who has no expertise at all in that area simply because they’re both in the same meeting. Even worse if it’s because the one with no expertise speaks with more confidence.
@zoink @figma As a homeschooled kid, that was curious, and driven, that didn't have any accolades or 'degrees', and even a family that shunned 'college education', this means a lot. I love that you are creating a path for more non-standard, but maybe kinda pretty good at things newcomers!
Like many tech companies, at @figma we don’t list degrees as a requirement in job postings A few weeks ago we renamed our “university” program to “early career” Language matters… while these are small changes I hope they will encourage more people to consider working with us
