Advising all my old tech friends finding me here —I don’t post about CSS/JS, design systems, or accessibility much. I’m mostly Costa Rican plants, bugs, animals, & sunsets, with some politics mixed in now that I’m giving Twitter the bird. And we own a little market & deli now —so maybe food/recipes.

The longer I work online as a designer and dev, the more I gravitate toward using one screen. It feels more focused...less distracting and I get into flow easier — ˗ˏˋ rogie ˎˊ˗ (@rogie) Oct 30, 2024

You can reliably get invited to the many big-ticket events held across this nation if you constantly email & text everyone you’ve ever met. But that’s no way to live — Daniel Tenreiro (@TenreiroDaniel) Oct 29, 2024

@kefimochi A popular option is going from a big tech company to a small. A senior engineer in Big Tech can become a principle at small tech. Getting recommendations from people at the target company always helps. Knowing leadership at the target company helps a great deal. — JSONP (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ (@palmerj3) Oct 29, 2024

Essentially, quality includes testing your software in ways that you might not use it yourself. When building any feature consider: • How to navigate it with a keyboard. Familiarize yourself with the ARIA patterns and apply them appropriately. • Test with a screen reader and… https://t.co/HTC4FVDniy — Devon Govett (@devongovett) Oct 26, 2024

People often hold up apps like Linear as paragons of software quality. In many ways it's great – fast, pretty design, slick animations, etc. But the definition of quality should also include accessibility. It's hard to hold up a UI as "high quality" with lots of basic issues. https://t.co/NpA1FXHpb6 — Devon Govett (@devongovett) Oct 26, 2024
