Es una instancia grande, pero las razones son que los admin y fundadores de la instancia han justificado que uno de sus moderadores vertiera opiniones anti LGTBIQ, anti inmigración, y en general pro MAGA en reddit, comentarios en otras redes, etc. Pero no lo consideran justificación suficiente para expulsarlo del equipo de moderación, lo que es una señal muy clara de que fosstodon no es un espacio seguro para les que habitamos NeoPaquita. -------- English: NeoPaquita will temporarily limit access to Fosstodon.org and in 48h suspend federation because of the admin's support stance to a moderator who exhibited anti queer, anti human rights opinions in other networks. #FediBlock

I am currently winding down the Mastodon bots I used to post sunrise and sunset times. The precipitating event is that the admin of the instance hosting the associated accounts demanded they be made nigh-undiscoverable, but the underlying cause is that it’s become increasing clear that Mastodon isn’t, and won’t ever be, a good platform for “asynchronous ephemeral notifications of any kind”. I’d also argue (more controversially) that it’s simply not good infrastructure for social networking of any kind. There are lots of interesting people using Mastodon, and I’m sure it will live on as a good-enough space for certain niche groups. But there is no question that it will never offer the fun of early Twitter, let alone the vibrancy of Twitter during its growth phase. I’ve long since dropped Mastodon from my home screen, and have switched to BlueSky for text-centric social media.

Os veo hablando de cámaras de eco y yo solo puedo pensar que bienvenidas sean. Igual me apetece crearme un rinconcito online con gente medianamente afín a mí. Si quiero lo contrario, solo tengo que salir a la calle, ir a trabajar, asistir a comidas familiares multitudinarias, consultar los medios de comunicación generalistas o locales... en definitiva: existir en el mundo y relacionarme con gente de fuera de esos círculos que me he esforzado en construir. ¿Por qué iba a querer dejarlos? Es el equivalente relacionado con las opiniones de "sal de tu zona de confort". Bastante me ha costado construirlas y estoy bien dentro, gracias.

@abslutebeginner@masto.es Marta Peirano es una periodista pija, que lleva años vendiendo libros sobre lo malos que son las GAFAM. Pero nunca ha apoyado otros modos de habitar internet. ( en la misma línea que muchos otros) Ahora como casi todos los periodistas ha hecho una defensa de Bluesky con el argumento: " Mastodon no es divertido".
