Banding Wheel To Throw Light Pottery? - Studio Operations and Making Work - Ceramic Arts Daily Community
My 6 year old son is interested in helping me when I'm in the garage throwing pots. The kickwheel is too big for him except to use as a sit and spin. I'm wondering if some of the heavier banding wheels would be enough to throw some light cups and bowls for him and maybe even use it as a portable ...

How to Make a Ceramic Teapot from Beginning to End.
How to Make a Ceramic Teapot from Beginning to End.
Strap in, this week's video is a long, and in-depth one, that goes over the entire process behind making a stoneware teapot. Parts thrown on the potter's wheel, then assembled, handle pulled, and so on. Timecodes: 0:00 - Introduction 0:32 - Throwing teapot body 3:30 - Throwing lid 5:01 - Throwing spout 7:45 - Trimming and assembling teapot 20:19 - Pulling and attaching the handle 25:17 - Packing the electric kiln for a bisque firing 27:26 - Unpacking the electric kiln 28:02 - Waxing the teapot 29:37 - Glazing the teapot 33:19 - Rolling out the waddings to prop up the lid 34:03 - Packing the gas kiln 34:49 - Firing the gas kiln 37:32 - Unpacking the gas kiln 38:27 - Grinding the lid smooth 39:18 - Sanding the base 39:42 - Finished teapots My wadding recipe is: 50% china clay/kaolin, 50% coarse alumina hydrate. Mix together slowly and then combine with water very slowly, as it seems to turn to a liquid very easily, so add less than you think. The gas kiln is a Rohde KG-340, and my potter's wheel is a Rohde HMT 500. Thanks for watching! ____ Instagram – https://ift.tt/2OmpdHR TikTok – https://ift.tt/3tEmRUJ Website – https://ift.tt/1ORcOOL

How I Make a Handmade Teapot Without Pottery Wheel A Pinch Teapot Tutorial
How I Make a Handmade Teapot Without Pottery Wheel A Pinch Teapot Tutorial
They say making a teapot is one of the big leaps for a potter. And as a potter who has never tried making a teapot before, I think I agreed. The process is quite complicated because of its elements; the lid, spout, handle, and not to mention the teapot body itself. Since this is my first time, there might be some errors along the process. So I apologize if this video is not a perfect tutorial for you because I'm learning too. But I hope that you can still learn a lot from this video. Enjoy!
