Episode Recaps

Inspired by recent requests/posts for pronunciation help from prospective podficcers, I've decided to record quick clips of myself pronouncing the names of the major characters in the show, as well as demonstrating a few examples of mixing Chinese and English in narration.

Here’s an article with the comparison of the original vs the re-censored version. It’s a good … overview on what the PRC finds offensive, I suppose. (Only the Youku version was modified)

Guardian 镇魂 is about to end this week in China, and I thought, even though YT is slowly subbing it, they aren't translating the titles for each episode, which is a pity because these titles are ridiculously fun!

One thing I really enjoy in Guardian is how the show uses food. I adore food in fiction and while food isn’t a focus of Guardian there are lot of food based moments that I love. I’ve been trying to write something about this but mostly I just want to squee. There is some fierce feeding people going on! And some lovely meals as a found family!

Since there’s been all sorts of GAR flowcharts of command floating about, and for all my research, I couldn’t find any for the Jedi, so I decided to make it happen. This is a hybrid of legends and lucasfilm canon, but leans more towards legends/EU, because it’s good. Hope this comes in handy for all you all Jedi-writers!

There are a lot of things I love about Guardian, and Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan, but at the top of the list has to be their incredible chemistry and their body language with each other. From the way they look at each other and flirt, to the way their bodies are simply attuned to each other's movements. So, I've decided to do a re-watch of the show, focusing on my favorite bits of Shen Wei/Zhao Yunlan interactions. A lot of the expressions and reactions in the earlier episodes take on a lot more meaning in hindsight!
