New York Strives Become 100% Clean Energy By 2040
While upstate New York has experienced a boost of clean energy, it has yet to make its way to New York City, given the fact that the big city heavily relies on fossil fuels to generate its power. About two years ago, New York made a commitment to climate goals set by the nation, which would entail moving from power being reliant on fossil fuels to an electrified system that would eliminate the contribution to climate change by 2050. Many private businesses and state agencies began building tons of solar and wind farms to give energy to homes, businesses, and vehicles, but have yet to reach the city. That is why the new clean energy project is expected to see major changes for the entire state of New York, rather than just upstate.
