Hello everyone ! Here is the first part of my submission for the Artstation challenge "Medieval, Back & Forth" in the VFX category !
This is a fire spell with a kind of divine aura which scares ennemies around and summons a second character.

Had an ABSOLUTE blast creating this effect, started out by making a concept of something I wanted to have that involved an ice shield with an explosion afterward, learned a lot about magical explosions in one of the lessons from VFX Apprentice which helped me a lot to create this effect as a student there.

Finally got around to cutting together a few clips of a handful of the FX I did for Battlefront 2.

The process of creating the effect of a poisonous explosion.
I start by drawing a frame-by-frame animation of the explosion mass, which will be used as the main texture in Unity.
After finishing drawing the animation, I finalize the result in After Effects, add blur, glow.
After that, I start creating the effect using the particle system on the unity engine, adding flashes and additional particles.
The effect was developed specifically for the Dark Tree project.

Destiny 2: Two Tailed Fox Catalyst VFX, Ben Platnick
I had the pleasure of working on Two-Tailed Fox's Catalyst, "Third Tail", which released as part of Destiny 2: Lightfall. As the name implies, the catalyst adds an additional rocket to the second volley with the Arc damage type, with the unique effect of Jolting any target it damages within the blast radius. I also took this time to polish and redo the original Void and Solar rockets that were part of the original weapon.
This was a fun, quick collaboration with Weapon Design, and I hope players have fun making explosions in all the flavors of the Light.
