Jomo said he dribbled my father Orlando Pirates star
Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabang Monare was once the captain of Jomo Cosmos. His coach and club owner was ofcourse the colourful Jomo Sono, who is famously a man of hilarious tales. ORLANDO PIRATES STAR REMEMBERS JOMO SONO STORY Long before Monare joined the Sea Robbers, he was a beloved captain at Cosmos for several years in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and later in the DStv Premiership. The 34-year-old from Embalenhle, Mpumalanga later moved to Bidvest Wits before finally joining Orlando Pirates. According to SAFootClassics, Monare’s former coach Jomo used to victimise his father on the field of play. “One time Jomo played with us at training (Jomo Cosmos),” the Orlando Pirates veteran said. “Jomo said he will play in midfield because he wouldn’t need to run there. He played one-two touches without losing the ball once. It was unreal. After the session, Jomo told me that my father knows him. He used to dribble my father in Mpumalanga,” Monare added. Monare’s full career journey: University of Pretoria (statistics unavailable) FC AK (statistics unavailable) Jomo Cosmos (statistics unavailable) Bidvest Wits – Four goals and seven assists in 125 matches Orlando Pirates – One goal and two assists in 93 matches. UNCERTAIN FUTURE Meanwhile, Monare is heavily linked with a departure from the Sea Robbers when his contract ends on 30 June. Reports say Orlando Pirates will sign the on-loan Thalente Mbatha on a permanent deal in order to replace Monare. “The former Jomo Cosmos midfielder renewed his contract with Pirates at the beginning of the season for a year but the contract is ending at the end of June,” iDiski Times reported. “By the look of things, Monare could be on his way out of Pirates, as Jose Riveiro has a lot of options in the middle and Desh has only featured in 22 minutes across two games since the AFCON, with Thalente Mbatha also closing in on joining the club permanently,” the report added. Are Orlando Pirates making the right decision to release Monare? Let us know in the comments section below. Monare and the Buccaneers are preparing for the final game of the season this weekend. Orlando Pirates, with a mission to finish second and qualify for the CAF Champions League, will host SuperSport United at the Orlando Stadium. The match will be on Saturday at 15:00.

Atalanta win Europa League ends Leverkusens unbeaten run
Atalanta win Europa League ends Leverkusens unbeaten run
Atalanta became the first Italian side to win the competition since Parma lifted the UEFA Cup in 1999. Ademola Lookman scored a stunning hat-trick as Atalanta ended Bayer Leverkusen’s 51-match unbeaten run to win the Europa League final 3-0 on Wednesday and claim their first trophy for 61 years. ALSO READ: Germany’s Kroos to retire from football after Euro 2024 Lookman became the first player to score a hat-trick in a European final since 1975 to secure Atalanta’s first ever continental trophy. The side from Bergamo have long lived in the shadow of nearby giants AC and Inter Milan. However, they have enjoyed a golden era under Gian Piero Gasperini, reaching the Champions League on four occasions, and now have silverware to show for it. “To win it with Atalanta is perhaps one of the football fairytales that rarely gives scope for meritocracy,” said Gasperini. “It doesn’t always come down to cold hard numbers or super leagues but shows teams without huge budgets can achieve big things.” Leverkusen have made a habit of late fightbacks in their remarkable run to winning a first ever Bundesliga title without tasting defeat. But this time they failed to dig themselves out of a hole created by a slow start. “It’s a shame that the time it didn’t work out for us was in a final,” said Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka. “It’s bitter, definitely, we lost a final today but we go on and we’ll make up for it on Saturday (in the German Cup final). Atalanta’s more purposeful play in the opening stages was rewarded after just 12 minutes. Davide Zappacosta got to the by-line and Lookman caught Exequiel Palacios napping to fire into the top corner at the back post. The Nigerian has at times endured a nomadic career, bouncing around the lower reaches of the Premier League on loan spells at Fulham and Leicester after being discarded by RB Leipzig. But Lookman has found a home in Bergamo, where he will now forever be a hero. “In the past few years I’ve been able to take my game to a new level and show that on a more consistent basis,” said Lookman. “I’m pleased with the progress I’ve made but this is just the beginning. I hope for more nights like this.” – ‘Hurts for sure’ – The 26-year-old’s second goal was fit to win any final as he nutmegged Xhaka before curling a powerful shot into the far corner. For the fourth time in seven Europa League knockout matches, Xabi Alonso’s men found themselves 2-0 down. Alonso has enjoyed a rapid rise to become one of Europe’s hottest coaching properties. The Spaniard has rejected the advances of former clubs Liverpool and Bayern Munich to remain at the BayArena next season. However, Alonso’s decision to start without a recognised striker did not work and he threw on Victor Boniface at half-time to give his side a focal point up front. The damage, though, was already done as the German champions looked a side drained by their record run across three competitions. “Normally it happens earlier but it is the first (defeat) in such a big game, it hurts for sure. We have to deal with this pain in a positive way,” said Alonso. “It didn’t go as planned. We were not on our best level, so we will learn from today.” Atalanta were happy to soak up the Leverkusen pressure after the break and hit on the counter-attack. The final blow was another fabulous finish from Lookman as he skipped past Edmond Tapsoba and this time blasted into the top corner on his weaker left foot. ALSO READ: Injured Neymar set to miss start of next Saudi season Atalanta had lost all three of their previous finals under Gasperini, most recently in last week’s Coppa Italia defeat to Juventus. But this time they were not to be denied their shot at history as they were roared across the finishing line by the thousands clad in blue and black that had made the trip from northern Italy to the Irish capital. In doing so they became the first Italian side to win the competition since Parma lifted the UEFA Cup in 1999.

Italian agent claims swap deal between Victor Osimhen and Rasmus Hojlund is feasible Man United News And Transfer News
Italian agent claims swap deal between Victor Osimhen and Rasmus Hojlund is feasible Man United News And Transfer News
1 A blockbuster swap deal between Manchester United and Napoli could potentially be on the cards this summer if an Italian agent is to be believed. The Red Devils have had a difficult time in front of goal this season and finished the Premier League campaign with only 57 goals, the joint worst in the top 10 alongside Crystal Palace. Striker Rasmus Hojlund was signed for £72m in the summer and had a rollercoaster of a first season in England. On the plus side, he scored 16 goals in all competitions, with an FA Cup final still to play, and is the club’s top goal scorer. On the minus side, he suffered two significant goal droughts and at times put up embarrassing statistics in terms of touches and passes completed as he seemed cut adrift from his teammates. His fellow players were even reported not to trust him and this has led to the reduced amount of passes the Dane has received during his time at the club. Furthermore, the lack of options at the club due to Antony Martial being missing in action since December and United’s failure to purchase an experienced striking option last summer, meant all the pressure was heaped on the 21 year old forward. Therefore, it has been heavily reported that the Old Trafford side are keen to bring in further striking reinforcements in the summer. And one Italian agent, Andrea D’Amico, suggests that there could be a left-field idea to bolster United’s striking options. In an interview covered by tuttunapoli.net, the agent was asked about Hojlund joining Napoli and claimed that a sensational swap deal between the Dane and Victor Osimhen is “feasible” this summer. Speculating on the Nigerian striker’s future he said, “he speaks English, the Premier League is the most important championship in the world. He’s not going to Barcelona and Real Madrid and if he doesn’t go to PSG or Bayern either, he will only be left with the Premier League.” In addition, “Manchester United respect the characteristics of Osimhen and in short, it’s a plausible scenario.” United have been heavily linked to Osimhen in the past, as the striker plundered 31 goals in 39 matches last season. He has had a quieter season this year, scoring 17 in 31 matches in what has been a much more tumultuous season for Napoli in comparison to last. It has been reported that after seemingly appearing out of the race for the Nigerian, Erik ten Hag’s men are back in it alongside Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. However, it seems fanciful that United would give up on their huge investment in Hojlund after just one season, especially after he will likely finish as the club’s top scorer. In addition, United require depth up front, so even landing a top goalscorer like Osimhen would be tinged by the fact they would still be left with only one recognised striker in the senior squad, were they to include Hojlund as part of the deal. With United’s PSR problems and a reported miniscule £35m transfer budget before sales, INEOS will need to get creative with deals but this proposed idea seems to be somewhat outlandish. For Spurs, it is a game of pride as they will not want to bow out without a fight. Another factor in the game is that most of the Spurs players want to attract interest from other teams by putting on their best performance. Amakhosi are desperate for a win so as to secure their spot in the MTN8 competition when the new season kicks off in August. Injuries aplenty Kaizer Chiefs are in eighth place with 36 points after 29 matches. Cape Town Spurs are 16th with 20 points from the same number of outings. After one season in the top-flight, they will return to the lower Motsepe Foundation League next season. Heading into the match there has been no good news on the injury front for the Glamour Boys. FA Cup final battles: Casemiro vs Kevin De Bruyne Man United News And Transfer News
FA Cup final battles: Casemiro vs Kevin De Bruyne Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United fans now must only wait two days before they get the chance to see if their team can bring the FA Cup back to Old Trafford. A disappointing season can end in the sweetest way if Erik ten Hag’s men are able to overcome their notorious rivals Manchester City on Saturday afternoon. United finished a whopping 31 points behind their cross-city rivals in the table and scored an incredible 39 goals less. However, cup football is made for underdogs and the Red Devils certainly have the individual talent to hurt City, if they play to their potential. Modern football is often decided in the middle of the park and one key battle will be between Casemiro and Kevin De Bruyne. Both players are 32 years old and far from the peak of their powers but how they play will still most likely have a huge impact on whether or not their respective set of fans go home happy or not. United’s Brazilian was outstanding last season and was a hero at Wembley last year, scoring the opening goal in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United. However, this season has been a disaster for Casemiro as he has regularly been unable to play in Ten Hag’s chaotic, transition based style, often hopelessly lunging into tackles so he doesn’t need to chase back. The Brazil legend has received a huge amount of criticism from pundits who believe he is no longer good enough to compete at the highest level. In addition, he is likely to be sold in the summer as INEOS want to shed his huge wages from the club and go in search of younger, hungrier talent. To compound matters, he has been asked to play the last few games of the season in the unfamiliar centre back role to aid United’s defensive injury woes. Luckily, with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane both looking on course to start the final, the multiple time Champions League winner can return to his favoured position at the base of the midfield. Whilst the Brazilian has been poor and subsequently lost his place in Brazil’s Copa America squad, he will need to be at his best to stop the creative genius of De Bruyne. The midfielder did play significantly better versus Brighton and Hove Albion last Sunday and will need every drop of his experience to halt City’s Belgian menace. Despite suffering a serious injury at the start of the season, the Belgian has contributed six goals and an incredible 18 assists in just 25 matches. City have numerous creative outlets in their side, but there is no question De Bruyne is the catalyst for their artistry. Stop him and you have a chance. The Belgium international is undeniably a class player but he has lost a yard of pace due to serious injuries. Casemiro must not get caught up the field and must use his wealth of experience to stay in position to deal with the massive threat of De Bruyne. If he gets stranded up the field, with City breaking into space, the end result is unlikely to be that satisfying for United fans. He will need to show immense discipline to play a strict defensive midfield role where he can solely focus on using his positional sense to stop City’s attackers, especially De Bruyne, from picking up the ball in pockets of space. Despite the poor performances, Casemiro is a serial winner. He has played so many big games, coming out on top over and over again. Five European Cups, three Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and three Spanish Super Cups, to go along with last season’s Carabao Cup, suggests he knows how to get over the line in a final. It will be a tough ask but with his future likely to be away from Old Trafford, it would be quite the final act of his United career to expertly snuff out the danger of City’s assist king and deliver the famous old trophy back to Old Trafford for the first time since 2016. Juan Mata in talks to sign for hometown team Real Oviedo Man United News And Transfer News
1 Former Manchester United player Juan Mata could have finally found a new club after leaving Japanese side Vissel Kobe. The 36 year old played 285 times for the club, scoring 51 goals. Despite never really living up to expectations at United, the Spaniard was always a popular member of the team and scored some beautiful goals during his time, including a sumptuous overhead kick at Anfield. Mata won the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League during his time at Old Trafford but also the Champions League with Chelsea back in 2012. He also tasted success internationally, winning the Euros in 2012 and the World Cup in 2010 with Spain. After winning the league title with Vissel Kobe, Mata left the club and refuted claims that he was about to retire. Since then, the Spanish international has been working for United, promoting this summer’s preseason game with Real Betis in San Diego. Interestingly, back in 2019 it was revealed that United viewed Mata as a potential ambassador for the club in the future, possibly providing an insight into his post playing career. However, reports suggest that Mata could be on the verge of reigniting that playing career. According to Estadio Deportivo , “Real Oviedo are working on the signing of Juan Mata for next season.” “Oviedo continue to fight for promotion to the First Division. With two days left in the regular league, Luis Carrión’s team is sixth with 61 points. They will have to confirm their qualification for the playoff against Andorra at home and Eibar away. But regardless of what happens in the sporting sense, their sports management is already working on the future [by attempting to sign Mata].” The move would be a dream move for the midfielder as he grew up in the northern Spanish city of Oviedo, so a return would see him represent his hometown team in what is likely to be the final chapter of an illustrious career. The Spaniard revealed in an interview with the club’s official website that he used to go watch Oviedo play when he was a boy, so a move to the second division side would most likely be incredibly sentimental for the player. Mamelodi Sundowns set to lose superstar to European giants?
Mamelodi Sundowns set to lose superstar to European giants?
Mamelodi Sundowns could be set to lose one of their key players, after just one season at the club.  Sundowns made some big signings in both transfer windows of the current season, which resulted in another title.  Looking to buy a good quality pre-owned vehicle, click here! Thapelo Maseko, Lucas Ribiero, Junior Mendieta, Bathusi Aubaas and Lesiba Nku were signed before the season. Then if that wasn’t enough, in January Sundowns signed Zukho Mdunyelwa, Thembinkosi Lorch, Tashreeq Matthews and Matias Esquivel. Now heading into the next season, it is not expected that the Brazilians’ spending will abate. This, especially since the club will have the FIFA Club World Cup added to their list of competitions for next season.  Ribeiro a successful signing for Sundowns One of those signings that have been very influential since joining, has been Brazilian forward Lucas Ribeiro Costa. The left-footer joined Sundowns from Belgian second tier side SK Beveren. He has come into South African shores and contributed 16 goals in all competitions, in his debut campaign. He has struck a good partnership with fellow prolific striker Peter Shalulile.  Now according to The Citizen, Greek giants Olympiacos are interested in signing Ribeiro from Sundowns.  Olympiacos interested in him? “According to information reaching the Mgosi Squad, the 25-year-old is being monitored by Belgian clubs and Greek giants Olympiacos ahead of next season. Olympiacos are familiar with South African football having previously scouted Keagan  Dolly while he was playing in the continental club competition, before he opted to move to France. It remains to be seen if Sundowns will be willing to listen to offers for one of their star players, who is expected to challenge for individual honours at the end of the season. The left-footed winger is currently nursing a hamstring injury. He’s in a race against time to recover for next month’s Nedbank Cup final against Orlando Pirates.” Wrote the publication.  It would be a massive surprise, however, if Sundowns allowed Ribeiro to go after such an impressive debut season.

39 photos of Jurgen Klopps best celebrations From pure emotion to trophies! Liverpool FC
Whether in relief, euphoria or pure adrenaline, Jurgen Klopp‘s fist pumps took on many forms throughout his near nine-year Anfield career. If there’s one thing Klopp was not lacking during his time at Anfield it was passion, he had it in abundance – and we have been fortunate to see it time and time again over the years. His celebrations on the pitch after a victory were a regular sight during his tutelage, and he knew when to save it for the right moment, even if the Kop was begging for it. You could read a lot into how he delivered his fist pumps, and with plenty caught by the camera, why not take a look back at some of Klopp’s best! They were not always directly after a game, the manager has long loved a touchline celebration. As for the variations of fist pumps, we have seen the teeth-baring one… He really got it down to an art! We usually saw this at the end of a narrow or vital victory, of which there were many. Liverpool love a flair for the dramatics after all… Then we have the cheeky smile, the joyful variety of fist pumps. The emotional ones strike a different chord… And the ones where you can tell it means absolutely everything… And who could forget the trophy fist pumps – we may have eased up on the definition of a fist pump with these, but just had to include them! And then we have that of the final variety, his final fist pumps in front of the Kop as Liverpool manager… We have loved having a manager who shared in all the emotions with the fans, who included supporters and acknowledged their unwavering support. Klopp gave it back tenfold and there’s no doubt we will dust off memories of all these moments in the years to come, if only they could have lasted forever. ‘I’m so glad that Jurgen is a Red’

Kaizer Chiefs first signing for next season dismissed as fake news!
Kaizer Chiefs are ready to make some big changes on and off the field ahead of next season.  Chiefs are set to announce a new coach before the next campaign with some players to help him on his quest. Looking to buy a good quality pre-owned vehicle, click here! Attack is clearly one of the departments that Chiefs will be looking to address next season, judging by the links. Amakhosi’s forwards have fired blanks in the past two seasons, a trend the new coach will be looking to fix. That is not surprise then to see the likes of Percy Tau, Luther Singh, Oswin Appollis and Tshepang Moremi.  Chiefs were thought to have agreed a deal for Makgalwa But before they can even look at those signings, it is believed Chiefs have already added to their attack. In January, the Glamour Boys did not make any official signings. Interim coach Cavin Johnson always alluded to the media that he wouldn’t dip into the market. Johnson claimed he needed more time coaching his current crop and giving them all a fair shot.  Team Manager Bobby Motaung would also confirm that there would be no signings made by the club during that window.  But one player that was profusely linked to Chiefs was former Mamelodi Sundowns player Kekeletso Makgalwa. According to reports in January, Amakhosi as well as Upington FC already have a deal agreed, which will come into effect during the transfer window.  But now, according to KickOff.comThere is no agreement between Chiefs and Upington for Makgalwa.  False news? “How can I allow Keletso to go? No one even knows who’s gonna coach the club (next season). So, you need to understand who is going to coach the club before you let the player go. You need to understand the project that you’re going into. There’s nothing agreed with Chiefs, I’ve never spoken to Chiefs regarding this or Upington speaking to Chiefs. “Makgalwa joined Upington on a free transfer, after leaving Sundowns permanently in the off-season. He managed to score 10 goals in 22 matches for them, a feat that seems to have attracted Chiefs. Nothing. There’s no communication. It’s just fake rumours,” said Makgalwa’s agent Ntobatsi Masegela Makgalwa scored 11 goals for Upington last season. Will those numbers take him to Chiefs?

The 2023/2024 DStv Premiership season will conclude with a full round of eight fixtures on Saturday, 25 May. Looking to buy a good quality pre-owned vehicle, click here! All matches will kick off at 15:00. Despite there being just 90 minutes of the season remaining, there is still plenty up for grabs, as detailed below. FINAL DAY FIXTURES Polokwane City vs TS Galaxy Cape Town Spurs vs Kaizer Chiefs Mamelodi Sundowns vs Cape Town City FC Chippa United vs Sekhukhune United Swallows vs Royal AM Orlando Pirates vs SuperSport United Richards Bay vs Stellenbosch FC AmaZulu vs Golden Arrows CHAMPIONS Mamelodi Sundowns have long since been crowned champions of South Africa for a seventh consecutive season and 14th time overall. CAF SPOTS If Stellenbosch FC beat Richards Bay away from home in their final match, they will join Mamelodi Sundowns in representing Mzansi in next season’s CAF Champions League. If Stellies draw against the Natal Rich Boys, they will need Orlando Pirates to draw or lose their final day match at home against SuperSport United in order to qualify for the CAF Champions League. If Stellenbosch FC lose against Richards Bay, they will need Orlando Pirates to lose against SuperSport United in order to qualify for the CAF Champions League. Anything less than that will see Stellenbosch FC enter the CAF Confederations Cup while Orlando Pirates will join Masandawana in the CAF Champions League. MTN8 SPOTS Seven teams have already booked their places in next season’s MTN8 tournament where R8 million will be awarded to the winner. As reported by The South African website, no fewer than FIVE teams are fighting for that eighth and final place. On paper, Kaizer Chiefs have the best shot at securing that place against relegated Cape Town Spurs in their final match. The final finishing order will determine the matches for the opening round of the MTN8 next season. RELEGATION Cape Town Spurs have been relegated from the DStv Premiership and will be replaced next season by NFD winners Magesi FC. Richards Bay are all-but assured of having to enter a promotion-relegation playoff against the University of Pretoria and Baroka FC to determine whether they stay up, or are replaced by one the NFD teams. He is a coach that could turn Chiefs around TS Galaxy boss on Ramovic joining Amakhosi
He is a coach that could turn Chiefs around TS Galaxy boss on Ramovic joining Amakhosi
TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi believes his coach Sead Ramovic can turn Kaizer Chiefs around if he’s given a chance. The 45-year-old Serbian coach is one of the many coaches linked with Amakhosi. Speaking to Andile Ncube on Sports Night Amplified, Sukazi admitted to hearing rumours linking his coach to Chiefs. “I’ve heard rumours that our coach is wanted by Chiefs, these are rumours we have not been approached”, he said. However, I want a strong Kaizer Chiefs. I love him, he is my coach, but he(Ramovic) is a coach that could turn Chiefs around and South Africa needs a strong Kaizer Chiefs,” he said. Ramovic has helped Galaxy rise to fourth in the DStv Premiership this season. If they win their final match, the Mpumalanga-based team would finish fourth making it their highest finish the the league. According to Transfermarkt, Ramovic as been identified as the next possible head coach for Kaizer Chiefs “The club is set to hold talks with him in the next few days, potentially paving the way for a new era at Kaizer Chiefs FC. “As Chiefs continue its search for a head coach to restore their former glory, Ramović’s impressive credentials make him a strong candidate.” “With an average of 1.48 points per match in the #DStvPrem this season, the Stuttgart-born tactician has demonstrated his ability to deliver results,” read the report from Transfermarkt. Could Ramovic be Kaizer Chiefs’ new coach? Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with number of coaches since sacking Molefi Ntseki in October. Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane was reportedly the club’s first choice but he instead joined Abha Club in Saudi Arabia. It remains to be seen if Chiefs can pull a rabbit out of a hat and bring Jingles back to South Africa. Sead Ramovic meanwhile has impressed for the Rockets. The 2019 Nedbank Champions eliminated DStv Champions from the Carling Knockout Cup earlier in the season. On Tuesday, Galaxy were a few minutes away from ending Mamelodi Sundowns’ unbeaten league record. Kaizer Chiefs might not have to look too far for a new coach with Ramovic available. The Rockets and Sukazi will want to keep the Serbian tactician but with good money, the club might be willing to let him go.

Ethan Wheatley scores match winner upon return to England youth setup Man United News And Transfer News
1 Ethan Wheatley scored the match-winner for England U18s in their 4-2 win over Northern Ireland at St. George’s Park on Wednesday. After an impressive season, which included winning the U18s treble and earning the Young Player of the Year and Reserve Player of the Year awards respectively, Ethan Wheatley and Elyh Harrison were called up to England’s U18 team to take part in two friendlies. The call up saw Wheatley return to the England set-up for the first time since September 2022, when he had played once for the England U17 team. Both United players started the first of two friendlies with Wheatley donning the number nine shirt, meanwhile United’s Will Murdock featured on the bench for Northern Ireland. England took an early lead through Aston Villa’s Kadan Young before another Birmingham native in Romelle Donovan doubled the lead in the 16th minute. Wheatley then added the third in the 25th minute from close-range after Manchester City’s Matty Henderson-Hall squared the ball to him. In a rich vein of form, Wheatley can’t seem to stop scoring, having notched 19 goals in 20 appearances for United U18s. The United academy forward then had a chance to double his tally shortly after from the penalty spot but saw his effort stopped by Mason Munn. Harrison made a good save early in the second half but the 18-year-old couldn’t keep his clean sheet as Northern Ireland looked to mount a comeback with a clinical finish from Dylan Stitt. Northern Ireland then added a second through Braiden Graham, who is the youngest player to feature for Linfield, a feat he achieved last year when he was handed his senior club debut by David Healy. An interesting United connection, Healy is a former Manchester United academy graduate who came through the ranks under Sir Alex Ferguson, making three appearances for United’s first team. England held on though, even going on to add a late fourth as the game ended 4-2. Wheatley got 55 minutes under his belt, while Harrison played the full 90. The United duo will now face off against Morocco on Sunday as England host the African side for the first time ever on home soil. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Manchester United have approached Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiasos entourage Man United News And Transfer News
1 Finding a fit specialist left-back has proven to be quite challenging for Erik ten Hag with both his options being unavailable for over 40 percent of the games this season. Luke Shaw has ended up missing 36 games while Tyrell Malacia has not played a game this campaign. Even loan signing Sergio Reguilon started seven games before his short-term deal was terminated in January. Centre-back Victor Lindelof and defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat have been forced to play there in multiple games while in the last couple of months, the Dutch manager has alternated between his right-backs Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot to fill that position. New co-owners INEOS have decided to bring in a left full-back this summer and reports from Italy have claimed the Red Devils have approached Juventus for Andrea Cambiaso. LB search continues The Italy international’s versatility is a huge draw with the 24-year-old able to play further upfront and even in midfield if required. This season, the former Genoa star was an ever-present feature of the Juve side, playing 39 games across all competitions and he also scored three goals while providing six assists. The Old Lady have been extremely impressed with Cambiaso and want to offer him a brand-new deal which would be valid until 2028 and the player would also be liable to receive a wage increase. Apart from the Old Trafford side, Premier League rivals Arsenal also like the versatile Italian but the Turin-based outfit have no plans to sell their new star even though they need funds for a planned summer revamp. Cambiaso approach Tuttomercatoweb write, “Cristiano Giuntoli has to deal with the club’s financial needs. Initially it was thought that only Kenan Yildiz was untouchable, but according to what Tuttosport found out this morning, that is not the case: Andrea Cambiaso is also non-transferable. “The proof comes from the firm intentions of Arsenal and Manchester United , who approached the player’s entourage because they liked him extremely, until director Giuntoli intervened to send a sharp ‘no, thanks’. “But there’s more: the Juventus technical manager has set up a meeting with Giovanni Bia (Cambiaso’s agent) in the next few days to secure the extension of his contract until 2028, with a relative increase in salary based on what the 24-year-old has demonstrated this season.” Cambiaso is valued at around €40-45 million and he could plug multiple gaps in the squad if United do approach the Serie A giants with a formal offer. Dani Olmo: Liverpool considering tabling bid for RB Leipzig star wanted by Manchester United Man United News And Transfer News
1 Liverpool are understood to be considering making a bid for RB Leipzig star and reported Manchester United target Dani Olmo. Olmo has been previously mentioned as a player on United’s wishlist ahead of the summer transfer window. It’s believed that Erik ten Hag’s side have maintained a “watch brief” on the versatile Olmo, who has once again put up impressive numbers despite his season being severely hampered by injuries. The Spaniard notched four goals and five assists in 21 Bundesliga appearances. Across all competitions, he managed eight goals and five assists. In addition to playing in central midfield, Olmo can also be effectively deployed on either wing and upfront if required. Last month, The Peoples Person covered a report which stated that United made strides in their pursuit of Olmo by making contact to explore the possibility of his signing. To add fuel to the fire, there is a belief that the 26-year-old is fond of the Premier League and would be open to plying his trade in England. A fresh report has now suggested that Liverpool are weighing up a deal to lure Olmo to Anfield, with new manager Arne Slot a fan of his. Liverpool are thinking about submitting an offer for the player and in the process, beating the likes of United and Barcelona to his signature. Leipzig selling Olmo this summer fits in with the Bundesliga club’s model of signing young players for modest fees and nurturing them before proceeding to sell them for huge profits. Any team keen on materialising their interest in the right-footed star will need to be fast. His deal at the Red Bull Arena contains a £51m release clause which is only valid until July 15. After that date, the clause will expire and his employers would be free to demand whatever fee they deem fair. The figure they slap on him would likely be significantly more than the quoted £51m figure. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? 2 Four Manchester United players are vying to claim the Premier League’s Budweiser Goal of the Season prize. It has been a dreary campaign for United, who finished it in eighth place – their lowest ever since the 1989/90 First Division season. All through, Erik ten Hag and his players have been subjected to intense criticism for their inconsistent results and performances that have often left a lot to be desired. It’s therefore astounding that some of the stars on the club’s payroll have been nominated for some of the top flight’s most prestigious accolades. Bruno Fernandes, Andre Onana and Diogo Dalot are vying to be included in the Premier League’s Fans Team of the Season. It has now been confirmed that Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford are also all in contention to clinch the league’s Goal of the Season prize. Fernandes’ winning volley against Burnley at Turf Moor back in September is one of the four strikes that have been recognised. On that occasion, the United skipper got on the end of a sublime diagonal from Jonny Evans and thumped it into the back of the Clarets’ goal. Man United still vying to sign Tosin Adarabioyo despite claims of Newcastle closing in on him Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United are still very much in the race to sign Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo despite suggestions that Newcastle are just one step away from sealing his signing. Adarabioyo is understood to be one of the many players Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are looking at to bolster United’s defensive department –  a need that instantly became more urgent following Raphael Varane’s confirmation that he’ll depart Old Trafford in the coming days. United are not the only club chasing Adarabioyo. Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to have him on their radar. Newcastle especially are considered United’s main competitor in the race to land the 26-year-old. A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Red Devils are keen on hijacking the Magpies’ deal to add Adarabioyo to their ranks. It was subsequently relayed that the Englishman is leaning more towards Newcastle than United. Earlier on Wednesday, Fabrizio Romano relayed that the Tyneside outfit are “almost there” in their bid to secure Adarabioyo’s signature. Newcastle keep advancing to sign both Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo as free agents, almost there. https://t.co/wSgaDOUGqp — Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) May 22, 2024 The Italian journalist further stated that Eddie Howe has approved the Fulham man’s recruitment and talks keep “advancing well.” However, according to BBC, United are not entirely out and are still keen on swooping in for Adarabioyo. The newspaper explains, “Manchester United are vying with Newcastle to sign Fulham central defender Tosin Adarabioyo.” “Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is a known admirer of the former Manchester City youth player and the Magpies were thought to be close to completing a deal to sign him.” “However, it is understood United have not ended their interest in the Englishman.” Adarabioyo’s main point of attraction lies in the fact that he can be obtained as a free agent. For United – a club that is battling to adhere to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) – such a move appeals greatly. It’s also rare that a quality player like Adarabioyo becomes available for free. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? 1 The first port of call for Manchester United’s new co-owners INEOS has been trying to get the behind-the-scenes structure right before they take charge of their first summer transfer window. The club’s haphazard approach to the market ever since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson retired has seen a succession of stylistically different managers come in and overpay for big-name players with the ploy not quite clicking. The team is still full of players brought in by previous managers, some of whom do not fit Erik ten Hag’s style, and the majority of players the Dutchman has brought in have also been quite disappointing. The new-look team will control recruitment while also deciding upon a stable style of play that will be followed throughout the club. New-look team being put in place The Red Devils will have a new CEO in the form of Omar Berrada from Manchester City, and Jason Wilcox, former City academy chief as technical director. Dan Ashworth is desperate to join as sporting director from Newcastle United with both parties currently embroiled in a legal tussle as the clubs try and agree a compensation package. The Magpies had hoped to get Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman in place of the former Brighton chief but as per Football Insider, the former Nottingham Forest has turned down the proposal, opting to stay back at Selhurst Park. Incidentally, the 20-time English league champions were looking at bringing Freedman to Old Trafford as their new recruitment chief after Sir Alex recommended his name. “Dougie Freedman has rejected an offer from Newcastle to replace Dan Ashworth as sporting director and will stay at Crystal Palace, sources have told Football Insider. “Freedman, who impressed the Tyneside club with his work at Crystal Palace, has now chosen to remain at Selhurst Park. “The Scot, who took the Palace sporting director job in 2017, was high on the shortlist at Newcastle due to his ability to buy and develop top young talent. “Freedman has also been linked with a potential move to Man United under the new Sir Jim Ratcliffe regime at Old Trafford.” Newcastle suffer another big blow Freedman has certainly done a fine job with Palace’s shoestring budget, bringing in the likes of Michael Olise from Reading, Eberechi Eze from QPR and Marc Guehi from Swansea (loan) for peanuts. There were talks that the trio could follow the Scot to St James’ Park but that looks unlikely at this point. All three are also targets for United. It has not been a good work off the pitch for Newcastle with the complicated Ashworth situation and now news of Freedman turning them down. They will need to keep looking for the right replacement. Whether United re-enter the scene for Freedman will be interesting to watch. Not many say no when the Old Trafford side come knocking. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Manchester Uniteds academy tops prestigious 2023/24 Premier League ranking Man United News And Transfer News
Manchester Uniteds academy tops prestigious 2023/24 Premier League ranking Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United endured a very disappointing and underwhelming Premier League season that saw them finish in eighth position, their worst ever since the 1989-90 First Division. As a result, United missed out on Europe entirely although they have a chance of gaining entry into the Europa League if they can somehow beat Manchester City in the Wembley FA Cup final this weekend. However, despite the doom and gloom that characterised United’s pitiful campaign, a ray of light that the club and fans experienced was the academy. As a result of injuries to several of his key stars, Erik ten Hag was often forced to look towards the academy to fill positions in his starting XI or on the bench. Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho especially were regular presences in the Dutchman’s plans and team selections. The two teenagers managed 60 top-flight appearances between them. Garnacho finished the 2023/24 Premier League season with seven goals and four assists to his name while Mainoo notched three goals and one assist. Willy Kambwala is another who played a crucial role in the side, especially in the midst of a crippling injury crisis in the defensive department. Ethan Wheatley became the 250th player from United’s academy to make their debut for the senior team when he came on from the bench in the 4-2 win against Sheffield United. The Red Devils’ matchday squad has featured at least one academy graduate in 4,259 consecutive first-team games dating back to October 1937. Just mind-blowing to say the least. An analysis conducted by Irish News has revealed that the United academy led the academies of all other Premier League clubs in terms of playing time. The analysis matched each player in the 2023/24 season to the academy where they finished their youth career. The data shows that 21 United academy graduates made appearances. Ten of the 21 stars played for United themselves, with Garnacho getting the most minutes (2,805). It’s important to note that these minutes also include stoppage time. Irish News further note, “Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and emerging star Kobbie Mainoo also cleared 2,000 minutes while 1,500-plus for Jonny Evans, who made his debut in 2007 in a previous spell at United, provided a link to the club’s long-term reputation for youth development.” “League-wide, James Garner’s 3,372 minutes for Everton were the most of any United graduate, while Andreas Pereira, Teden Mengi, Anthony Elanga, Tahith Chong and Sam Johnstone also topped 2,000.” “United’s total of 34,076 minutes was 7,000 clear of last season’s leading academy Chelsea, whose graduates this time racked up 27,075 minutes. Champions Manchester City were third on 20,684.” (Source for above graphic: PA news agency) Ten Hag – despite all his faults this term – handed more than a quarter of United’s playing time to players who have come through the ranks at Carrington. The Dutchman afforded 11,835 minutes out of a total of 42,297 (28 per cent) to United academy graduates. No other Premier League outfit even managed 20 per cent. Chelsea came closest with 19 per cent. (Source for above graphic: PA news agency) The academy will always be the pillars on which United stands and it’s important that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS put measures in place to ensure its continued success and ability to produce talent. Manchester United initiate contacts for Stade Rennais wonderkid Désiré Doué Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United have reportedly established contact to explore the possibility of signing Stade Rennais midfield prospect Desire Doue. It’s understood that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are keen on building their new-look United around a core of young and highly talented players with the potential to become world-class superstars. Doue certainly fits this profile. In the just-concluded Ligue 1 season, the 18-year-old made 31 appearances for Rennes and managed an impressive four goals and five assists. One of the main things that makes Doue an attractive proposition for United is his versatility. He can be deployed to great effect not only in the middle of the park but also in both wings. He boasts of elegant technique and an incredible athletic physique for one so young and still yet to hit the height of their powers. Doue leads Rennes in successful dribbles per game (averaging 2.1) and is also the most fouled player in the squad. He has also completed 64 dribbles, which is the fifth-most in France’s top flight and just one behind Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele. A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United are keen on securing Doue’s services. The Red Devils are not the only club keen on adding him to their ranks as Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are also admirers of the youngster. It was subsequently relayed that Rennes, who failed to qualify for Europe for the first time in seven years, know they may be forced to cash in on the teenager but they will demand a club-record fee to part ways with him. It’s believed that a figure of €70m could get a deal for the player over the line. Sports Zone (via CaughtOffside) now report that Doue wants to leave Rennes in search of pastures anew as United and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal circle around him. Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen are the clubs most interested in him but interestingly, United and Arsenal are the ones mentioned to have initiated contacts to land him. Both Premier League clubs see Doue as a long-term investment and someone who could be nurtured to become a key player for years to come. Rennes boss Julien Stephan opened up on the mounting interest in Doue on Sunday and said, “We know today’s market, notably for the very young players. He will decide through his personal ambition. I’m not naive. We’re glad to have developed him during the second part of the season. He’s at risk of leaving without a single full season here, that’s a shame. I would have liked that; that would have been an ideal situation.” Doue’s teammate Baptiste Santamaria was also asked about him and remarked, “He’s a very talented player with a great sense of football. He’s still young but he’s a player who aspires to go to the biggest clubs. He’s one of a kind: he likes to hit the ball but he’s solid on his feet. Desire’s technical, percussive and physical qualities are quite incredible.” “When he becomes more consistent, he’ll be unplayable. For his age, he’s the most gifted youngster I’ve seen in my career.” It’s certainly high praise for Doue. United must do all they can to ensure they’re pipped to his signature. Manchester United legend Jaap Stam in talks over key role at the club Man United News And Transfer News
1 Sir Jim Ratcliffe-helmed INEOS have already made huge strides when it comes to reshaping Manchester United’s football structure. Man United have convinced Dan Ashworth to become their sporting director. The Englishman is so keen to join the INEOS-led project that he is willing to take Newcastle to arbitration to start working at Old Trafford as soon as possible. Former Manchester City head of academy, Jason Wilcox is another high-profile name to have joined United. Wilcox has agreed to serve as the club’s technical director. However, it remains to be seen how the arrival of so many strong and experienced football minds behind the scenes would impact the side’s manager as well as players. It seems INEOS are prepared for that as well. It is understood that to bridge the gap between the club and the technical staff, United are keen on bringing a familiar figure back to Old Trafford. A report from TuttoMercatoWeb (via Sport Witness) says legendary centre-back Jaap Stam is being considered for the role. It is added United are already in touch with him, as they seemingly look for an able figure who the players could approach and share their concerns with. It is claimed, however, that everything is at an initial stage and his return is being ‘evaluated’. Stam, who played at United under Sir Alex Ferguson from 1998 to 2001, has worked as head coach in recent years at several clubs, including Reading, Feyenoord, and FC Cincinnati. TuttoMercatoWeb have not clarified if Stam would work with Erik ten Hag or a new manager in his new role. However, in a separate report, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that the former Ajax manager will be shown the exit door at the end of the season. It is thought that the Red Devils have already started looking for candidates to succeed Ten Hag. Kieran McKenna, Roberto de Zerbi, and Mauricio Pochettino are all in the race for the top job. Mason Mount spotted back in Manchester United training ahead of FA Cup final Man United News And Transfer News
1 After recording their worst-ever Premier League finish, Manchester United will be desperate to end the campaign on a high when they face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday. And manager Erik ten Hag has received another timely injury boost with midfielder Mason Mount spotted back in training. The former Chelsea star last played three weeks ago in the game against Crystal Palace. It has been a disappointing campaign for the England international since his much-hyped summer move with injuries restricting him to only eight starts in all competitions. When fit, the 25-year-old has not looked like the most natural fit for the manager’s high-transition style, often seen occupying the same areas as Bruno Fernandes, which has left too much space for Casemiro to cover. Mount returns The United No 7’s latest absence, the third separate issue has has suffered this term, was due to a “minor issue” as per his manager and he only ended up missing three games. The Dutch manager is expected to shed further light on what sort of condition the midfielder is in on Thursday during the pre-match press conference. Back in training The latest on our squad ahead of Saturday’s #FACup final #MUFC — Manchester United (@ManUtd) May 22, 2024 With City expected to dominate the ball, United are expected to play a conservative style from the start and Mount might only get called if the game is still there to be won. Injuries have severely affected the Red Devils’ current campaign and only recently has the situation begun to clear up with multiple players returning to training. Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial were also recently spotted back in training and the duo could play some part at Wembley. Injury situation clearing up too late The Swede has missed 21 games while the Frenchman has missed 28 games. Both have been linked with exits with the No 9 spotting saying his farewell to the Old Trafford faithful after the final home game of the season. The Old Trafford side will still be without the services of Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia for the repeat of last season’s final. The odds are heavily stacked against the 20-time English league champions especially considering the contrasting form both sides are enjoying. The manager’s future remains on a sticky wicket and he will be hoping the stronger squad he will have at his disposal can pull off the unthinkable. Fabrizio Romano confirms Man United to miss out on Thiago Motta as he agrees to become next Juventus boss Man United News And Transfer News
1 Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Bologna boss and reported Manchester United managerial target Thiago Motta has reached an agreement with Juventus to become Massimiliano Allegri’s long-term successor. It’s looking increasingly certain that Erik ten Hag will be relieved of his duties at United and as this goes on, the Red Devils continue to be strongly linked with potential replacements. One of these is Motta, who’s worked miracles this season at Bologna. The former Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has earned praise this season for his attractive brand of football and fearless style of play, which secured Bologna European football for the first time in more than two decades. Even more impressive is that Bologna will be making their bow in the Champions League. Motta’s football philosophy is believed to be the kind of thing INEOS would love to see implemented at United – something Ten Hag has spectacularly failed at. Unsurprisingly, other parties alongside the Reds were also mentioned to be interested in Motta. Juventus especially are known to be avid admirers of his. The Turin outfit were treated to a stunning show of what Motta can bring to their side earlier this week when Bologna played out a 3-3 draw against them. The Rossoblù raced to a 3-0 lead but Juventus clawed their way back to ensure the spoils were shared between the two teams. A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Juventus had offered Motta a three-year deal. Over the weekend, the 41-year-old opened up on suggestions that he’s next in line for the Juve job and said that a final decision would be made in the coming days. If the latest update provided by Romano is anything to go by, Motta has now made his final decision and it’s not good for United, whose options are dwindling. The Italian journalist wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Juventus are closing in on deal to appoint Thiago Motta after working on it for 6 months.” “Motta’s set to accept Juve proposal, he has to inform Bologna in 24/48h.” “Contract will be valid for three years as reported last week, until June 2027 for less than €5m/season.” Juventus are closing in on deal to appoint Thiago Motta after working on it for 6 months. Harry Maguire gives worrying injury update ahead of FA Cup final against Man City Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has admitted that he’s still unsure whether he’ll be fully fit and ready to play against Manchester City this weekend. United are set to make their way to Wembley on Saturday to take on Pep Guardiola’s men in the FA Cup final. Not only does the clash represent the Red Devils’ last chance of winning silverware this season but it also represents an avenue of getting into the Europa League. Maguire, who picked up a muscle injury in early May was believed to be out of action for three weeks. This effectively threw his participation in the FA Cup final into doubt. Before that, the England international played through the pain barrier in games against Bournemouth and Coventry but it seems like the issue aggravated and made it necessary for him to be sidelined. While Maguire has been on the treatment table, United have been boosted by the respective returns of Lisandro Martinez, Willy Kambwala and Raphael Varane. The former United skipper spoke to talkSPORT and gave an update on his fitness ahead of the showpiece Wembley event. He said, “Obviously it’s disappointing and a frustrating time to get injured. I still don’t know if I’m going to be fit. It’s going to be a late one. I’m hoping to be fit for the squad for the FA Cup final but it will be touch and go.” “It’s probably the first time in my career that I’ve had a few muscle injuries throughout the season. It is frustrating and it feels different. You always want to play so maybe I need to look at how I’m managing myself and stuff like that.” The FA Cup is an opportunity for Maguire to win his second trophy at Old Trafford and the central defender admitted that it’s something he’s relishing. “It would mean absolutely everything. Playing for this club demands winning trophies. We did that last year and we’ve given ourselves an opportunity at the end of a difficult season to get another one. That’s what our focus is.” He delved into what it means to play for United and explained that it’s a huge honour and privilege despite the intense scrutiny that comes with it. Maguire added that at this level, one just has to accept things as they are and quickly get used to it. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Will Fish indicates he wont be returning to Hibernian Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United loanee Will Fish has apologised to Hibernian fans for the club’s disappointing season and given a pretty clear indication his future will lie away from the club. The Hibees followed up last season’s fifth place finish with a poor eighth position in the table. Fish played an integral role this season and was a rare shining light in a rather dull year for the Edinburgh-based side. The 21-year-old missed the final few fixtures of the season after picking up a back injury but he had played 45 games previously, scoring one goal and creating two more. This combined with the 22 games he played in his first season at Easter Road means he managed to represent the side a mammoth 67 times in two seasons. The Mancunian centre back, despite being unable to play his part in the final four matches, took to X to express his regret on how the season panned out for Hibernian. He wrote, “I can only apologise this season wasn’t good enough for a club like this. I promise I’ve absolutely loved playing for Hibs & had some incredible memories along the way. Good luck for the future .. better times are coming! Thank you again.” I can only apologise this season wasn’t good enough for a club like this. I promise I’ve absolutely loved playing for Hibs & had some incredible memories along the way. Good luck for the future .. better times are coming! THANK YOU again @HibernianFC — Will Fish (@_wfish) May 21, 2024 This message to the fans certainly feels like a farewell and that he won’t be back plying his trade in the Scottish capital for a third successive season. It has been reported that Fish was a target for Hibs in the summer. Earlier in the season, former manager Nick Montgomery stated, “We are a big club. So, for Will, it’s going to be what is going to be the best option for him. We’re definitely going to be one of those options. But I’m sure there will be many others.” Teams such as Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town have been credited with interest but it is unlikely that the Tractor Boys will entertain a move for the player now that they have been promoted to the Premier League. Fish, who has been described as a “physically imposing” centre back, may be tempted to join a Championship club but he may also have ambitions to break into United’s first team squad this pre-season. The senior defenders have put in a shambolic defensive performance over the course of the season, conceding 84 goals in all competitions and with numerous high-profile players on the move such as Raphael Varane and likely Jonny Evans, there may be a space for him to take up. Willy Kambwala’s emergence as serviceable back-up has shown that if you are good enough, you are old enough. However, it has been reported that United will bring at least one centre back in the summer, if not two, which would certainly make it harder for Fish to make his breakthrough. Manchester United join Chelsea Paris Saint-Germain in the race for Victor Osimhen Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United are set to face a tough battle if they are to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer. Following Rasmus Hojlund’s exploits in his debut season, it has become apparent that the youngster is in need of some support up top. The 21-year-old enjoyed an impressive cameo in United’s 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend, scoring a goal off the bench. Still, given that he scored as a substitute against Newcastle United as well, it seems as if Hojlund has benefitted from some rest after being overworked thanks to the lack of options at manager Erik ten Hag’s disposal. Other than the constantly injured Anthony Martial, whose time at Old Trafford is all but over, there is no other natural striker at the club other than the Dane, making the search for another option crucial. Ivan Toney has been mentioned quite a lot recently, with United reportedly offering €70 million for the Brentford striker. RB Leipzig frontman Benjamin Sesko has also been heavily linked with United, with his agent confirming that the player has indeed received interest from top English clubs. Last year, Osimhen had emerged not only as Napoli’s star striker but the standout player in the Serie A, scoring 26 goals in 32 league matches to help seal the Serie A title for Napoli after an almost 30-year drought. While Napoli has capitulated this season, falling to 10th place, Osimhen has remained a consistent producer up front, scoring 15 goals in 24 league games. Given his consistency in front of goal, Osimhen could indeed be the right kind of striker for United’s lineup. However, luring the Nigerian goal-machine to Old Trafford may prove challenging. Fichajes have reported that Chelsea “are pushing hard” to sign Osimhen to pair him with Cole Palmer. Paris Saint-Germain also appear to be in the running, with the article claiming that the Ligue 1 club are the current frontrunners in the race. Still, given the Napoli striker’s €130 million release clause, it makes more fiscal sense for United to focus their interest elsewhere in order to remain within their limited transfer budget. Jurgen Klopp left a mark on all of our lives nearly 9 years of milestones! Liverpool FC
It feels egotistical to reflect on moments that are significant to the collective through an entirely individual lens. But the truth is, we all largely interpret life based on what each experience meant to us on a personal basis. And so, for a football journalist who has spent the last decade reporting primarily on Liverpool, it is hard not to look inward when considering Jurgen Klopp‘s departure. That means not just mourning the loss of a genius football manager who brought greatness back to the club I cover closely, or of a charismatic figure always ready to dish out a memorable line. No, it goes deeper than that because Klopp’s eight-and-a-half years in charge have featured a heady mix of both professional and personal milestones.   An era of milestones For example, it is impossible to forget that my first date with my now-wife fell just three weeks after the Europa League final in Basel and a post-match party featuring a speech from Klopp that has gone down in Liverpool folklore. We have since not only married but had a child, and the many landmarks along the way can usually be placed in time thanks to a typically thrilling victory or trophy. Of course, most supporters will be familiar with this way of thinking, which is far easier to slip into when the memories around football tend to be positive ones. And it should not be forgotten that, while Liverpool’s improved status now can cloud things, it was far from a given back in 2015 that this would be the case. I recall sitting in Klopp’s first press conference in the ‘Reds Lounge’ of what was then called the Centenary Stand thinking that simply returning Liverpool to the Champions League on a regular basis would represent a success. Instead, the German won that trophy, ended a 30-year league title drought, and collected every other piece of silverware available to him – well, the Europa League aside. It would be fair to say, then, that expectations were exceeded, and in such fashion that any attempts to play down Klopp’s legacy should be immediately dismissed.   Hugs and beers shared with Klopp In the end, can narrowly missing out on two Premier League titles to a state-funded Man City or two Champions League wins to the biggest club in the world, Real Madrid, really be described as a failure? And even if it could, perhaps ask an Arsenal fan how much getting ‘just’ one taste of such success in this era would mean. The fact is, those victories should be celebrated with greater fervour given what Liverpool were up against, and the journey around them provided moments that all involved will never forget. For me, that includes a Klopp hug in the mixed zone in Madrid, and the beers shared while conducting an interview on a flight over to Sydney. Even a public dressing down from the manager at Goodison Park in 2019 made for a good story to tell at dinner parties. These memories only cement the feeling that with Klopp’s departure, Liverpool are losing not only his remarkable management skills but also an incomparable character. And it does not bear thinking about what that means for Arne Slot, who arrives to unenviable expectations thanks to the work of his predecessor. Instead, for now, it is perhaps best to reflect on what has been a perfect story that has left a mark on the lives of each of us associated with Liverpool.

Roberto De Zerbis dream is to become the next Manchester United manager Man United News And Transfer News
1 Former Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi is reportedly leaning more towards the Manchester United job than any other club in Europe. Erik ten Hag’s destiny with fate is fast approaching and a definitive decision on his future is set to be made imminently, most probably after the FA Cup final this weekend. A recent report by respectable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio that was covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the prospect of Ten Hag being sacked by United is certain and there is no way back for the Dutchman. Di Marzio revealed that some of the options the club are assessing to replace Ten Hag include Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town, Mauricio Pochettino who just parted ways with Chelsea and De Zerbi. This is not the first time the Red Devils have been linked to De Zerbi. Last Saturday, Brighton confirmed in a shock statement that the 44-year-old would leave the Amex after the final game of the season against United. Soon after, De Zerbi spoke to reporters and admitted that while he doesn’t have a job lined up, he hopes to continue working in the Premier League. Alfredo Pedulla has now given a slight update on the situation and indicated that the tactician’s wish is indeed to remain in England and his heart is set on the United managerial post. Pedulla wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “The dream of De Zerbi is Manchester United.” “There are other possible candidates, we will see if dreams help us live better.” Pedulla notes that a source presumably close to De Zerbi disclosed, “Something will happen, he would like the Premier League (Manchester United would be a dream), but we need concrete facts and not media chatter.” — Alfredo Pedullà (@AlfredoPedulla) May 22, 2024 The coming days are certainly shaping up to be pivotal for United and which direction the club will be taking under the INEOS regime.
