I played for and against Jurgens Liverpool it is really really special Liverpool FC
As somebody who has both played for and against Jurgen Klopp‘s Liverpool, Adrian is uniquely placed to look back on the German’s eight-and-a-half years at Anfield. The Spanish goalkeeper first lined up against Klopp’s Liverpool in January 2016, a match that, just three months into Klopp’s tenure, served as an introduction to English football as West Ham ran out 2-0 winners at Upton Park. But it was at Anfield in the following two seasons that Adrian witnessed Klopp’s new team emerging, with 4-0 and 4-1 wins for Liverpool against West Ham. Each of those games featured two goals for the Reds in quick succession. “[It was] painful! Really painful, to be honest,” Adrian recalls. “Every time we played here against Liverpool at Anfield, we suffered a lot. “Anfield, you know how it is. I know how exactly you feel it [the atmosphere] when you concede a goal at Anfield. [Conceding] a quick goal in the first 20 minutes, you’re expecting a second and a third goal quick because that team never stops.” Adrian‘s last game against Liverpool saw the Reds’ new fearsome trio of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino all on target. “In that moment I could not imagine in a couple of seasons I would come here and start enjoying the other way,” he tells This Is Anfield. “The philosophy of Jurgen, his style of play, is really, really special.”   A dream debut – the best ever?! A year later, though, Adrian was making a summer move to Merseyside as a replacement for the outgoing Simon Mignolet. “Obviously I want to win titles [trophies]”, he said at his unveiling. It didn’t take long – just nine days later winning the first trophy of his career in some style! Signed on August 5, Adrian‘s debut arrived quicker than expected just four days later when Alisson was injured in the opening game against Norwich. “When I first started feeling the Kop was when I made my debut against Norwich,” says the Sevilla-born stopper. “That welcome and reception that all the fans gave me, that moment when I was running for the goal in front of the Kop, I will remember forever. As a player you feel the confidence and you feel support of everyone in that moment. “From that moment on, my special relationship with the club started.” But things were about to get even better in his full debut – not just lifting a trophy for the club but playing the most crucial part by saving Tammy Abraham’s penalty in the shootout to lift the UEFA Super Cup. “When the time passes and maybe we see each other in 15, 20 years, we will remember all these moments, they will last forever,” he smiles. “They will stay in the history of the club.” It was quite the way to win the first trophy of Adrian‘s career – just nine days after signing for Liverpool FC. “It was a long game, a really intense one,” he remembers. “Really special for me, I will remember it for all my life. That celebration when I saved that penalty and Jurgen and all my teammates came to me. A week before I just arrived at Liverpool so I was just trying to get confident. That moment was key.” Those celebrations also provided supporters with another memorable Klopp moment as the manager channelled his love for Rocky Balboa and exclaimed “ADRIAN! Like Rocky!” in an interview with BT Sport post-match.   Champions of the World and demolishing Leicester Next in the trophy cabinet for Adrian and Liverpool was the FIFA Club World Cup, won for the first time in the Reds’ history in December 2019, in Qatar, after beating Brazilian side Flamengo in the final. “It’s a massive title (trophy),” says Adrian. “It’s so difficult to get that successful period in that short time; the club’s history is so big but to get that many titles in a row, Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup. “It was a special one. I remember that Bobby goal, I was running like hell to him to the corner to celebrate that goal!” That final took place on December 21, 3,500 miles away from the Reds’ next game, against second-placed Leicester just five days later. “Many people were talking about us celebrating but the celebrations were very light, in the hotel after the game it was a nice meal and a couple of glasses of wine but not much because we knew we had to carry on with the Premier League. “That game against Leicester was key. If the team would switch off quick. That performance against Leicester was incredible, we showed that mentality monster; ‘we are here, we are going to try to win all the competitions’.” Liverpool produced one of their most comprehensive performances, with Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s goal a highlight in the whole Klopp era. It took the Reds to 13 points clear, and with a game in hand over Leicester in second. If fans sensed that they were about to end the 30-year wait for the title, so too did the players. “Even before we stopped for the pandemic, we felt like winners,” says Adrian as he recalls the 44-game unbeaten run that set a new club record. “We felt like we deserved to win (the title).” Of course, Klopp’s side went on to lift the title in an empty Anfield. “It was a great feeling to win the Premier League, to be involved in the squad,” Adrian reflects. “A really strange situation to celebrate without our fans and really difficult but we celebrated as much as possible. Lifting the trophy in the empty Kop, we felt with great company because we knew all the Liverpool fans at home were sharing and celebrating with us.” In less than 12 months, Adrian had gone from no medals in his collection, to having the Super Cup, Club World Cup and Premier League. What a year.   Parade Since then, the Reds’ No.13 has added the League Cup and FA Cup to his collection, in 2022, getting to celebrate with the fans in a parade that had an estimated 750,000 people line the streets of Liverpool. “A lot of memories come to my mind,” he says, while giving a shiver and pointing to his goosebumps. “It was a really, really special moment. How the people received us after losing a Champions League final. After the game we were frustrated, we felt we were the best team but sometimes in football not always the best team wins. “We couldn’t imagine how special and how great that moment was going to be. We went to the bus and kept seeing more and more and more Liverpool fans. We couldn’t imagine people could switch off that feeling (of defeat). 24 hours later, everyone was celebrating. “Those moments pass so quick. I think it was the right decision to celebrate, to share with the fans. “Everyone that was on the bus or the street celebrating will remember that day for all their life.” Speaking with Adrian, it’s clear why Klopp has kept him at the club for the past five years. The 37-year-old was once described as “one of the most warmhearted and genuine footballers I have ever come across” and it is that which comes across.

Mamelodi Sundowns attempt to hijack top Orlando Pirates transfer!
Mamelodi Sundowns attempt to hijack top Orlando Pirates transfer!
Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to be ramping up their effort to beat Orlando Pirates to a top signing. Chiefs and Pirates were both thought to have shown interest in SuperSport United defender Kegan Johannes before Sundowns.  Chiefs and Pirates interested in Johannes This publication reported that it was Chiefs who first put their hand up, showing interest in Johannes. It was not too long then when reports would emerge that Pirates too, were hot on heels. Then in what seemed like an anti-climax, it was then reported that the player would be moving to neither, and had signed a contract renewal at SuperSport.  But then last week, it was reported that Johannes had snubbed Chiefs and was set to move to Pirates. Hunt, however, was quick to dismiss those rumours as reported by this publication on Saturday.  Then on Thursday, it was established that Pirates have not wrapped up the deal for Johannes at all. New reports emerged that Chiefs were still in the hunt. Furthermore, it was revealed that Sundowns had since joined the race.  Sundowns join the race and want to seal the deal! Now according to Soccer-Laduma, Sundowns haven’t just joined the race, but are keen to beat Pirates and Chiefs to Johannes!  “As reported by the Siya crew, Johannes, 23, is a target for both clubs to join them next season and it was the Buccaneers who initially expressed a desire to land his signature, their rivals Downs were watching closely. The player’s camp has denied any links with the Soweto giants, but the Siya crew understands that Downs have now entered the fray and have expressed an interest in the South Africa youth international. The reigning DStv Premiership side aren’t desperate for a right back, but indications are that the club, as they did with Zuko Mdunyelwa, want to bring in another prospect with big potential to be an understudy to some of their senior defenders like Khuliso Mudau. Johannes’ versatility is also a key area identified by Downs as he could double up as a ball-playing centre-back too.” Wrote the publication.  Johannes is a versatile player, who has operated mainly as a right-back despite favouring centre-back. It would be an interesting move for Pirates who signed Thabiso Lebitso on a free transfer from Chippa United in January. He was brought in to challenge Bandile Shandu and Thabiso Monyane for the right back berth. Now, Johannes potentially joining the Buccaneers next season makes sense, when you reports keep surfacing, of Shandu’s potential departure.  Chiefs seem to be covered at right-back with the likes of Reeve Frosler, Dillan Solomons and Zitha Kwinika. Sundowns have Khuliso Mudau and Zukho Mdunyelwa and Thapelo Morena. This would make a move to Pirates more plausible for Johannes.

Will Lyle Foster go down with the ship or remain in EPL?
Will Lyle Foster go down with the ship or remain in EPL?
Bafana Bafana star Lyle Foster might have a decision to make this offseason with his English Premier League(EPL) team getting relegated. The 23-year-old former Orlando Pirates man impressed in his debut EPL season for the Clarets. He scored five goals and provided three assists in 23 matches. The striker had to miss seven weeks of premier league action due to mental issues. In December, Lyle Foster upset a lot of South African football fans when he chose not to play in the Africa Cup of Nations. The continental showpiece took place in Ivory Coast between January and February. The striker withdrew from the squad but played for Burnley before injury in January. This past week, Burnely coach Vincent Kompany spoke about Lyle Foster’s situation. “I think Lyle did something very powerful by actually speaking up about it himself, and allowing us to speak about it,” Kompany told Premier League Inside Matters. Lyle Foster might fight to stay in the EPL “How he processed his situation was very, very mature for a young individual in the end. I think we’ve all learned through experiencing this with him you know. “The difficulty with football is that so often it’s the problem and as well it’s the solution, so these players will be confronted with different states of mind because of the pressure of the job, because of the pressure of being a footballer and what it means,” said the former Manchester City captain. Foster’s coach Kompany impressed with the Bafana star Lyle Foster has impressed during his debut Premier League season. Without his issues and having had to be away from the team, he might have even scored 10+ goals. Kompany said the pressure does get to players sometimes and it’s all about clubs supporting them. “Sometimes it’s not even towards the fans, it could be family, it could be your country, it could be your background, it could be your social media. “So the stress of the hob and the demand of the performances as well, competition. But at the same time, it’s what they love doing, to create this environment where these players actually see football as their happy place, the solution, and take them away from what they see as a dark place. it’s been for me a learning curve for me this year,” he said. “Lyle has been massive in helping us to understand how to best support players that are facing the situation.” Lyle Foster has improved as a footballer since moving to Burnely a few seasons ago. A move back to the Championship might be a step backwards for the Bafana Bafana star. Teams like Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Everton might suit Foster better.

Should Kaizer Chiefs pounce on THIS Orlando Pirates striker?
Should Kaizer Chiefs pounce on THIS Orlando Pirates striker?
Orlando Pirates are believed to be on the market for a striker, but already have a few.  One of those strikers being Zakhele Lepasa, who is again rumoured for the Pirates exit door!  Lepasa started the season well for Pirates, going on the pre-season tour to Spain and doing enough to stay. The player was then upgraded to the number nine jersey after the departure of Tshegofatso Mabasa on loan. That move seemed to do the trick for the Bafana Bafana international as he rediscovered his scoring boots.  Lepasa has fallen down the Pirates pecking order But a mixture of injuries and falling out of favour has since seen Lepasa on the peripheries of the Pirates squad. The striker has hardly featured in match day squads for the Buccaneers in 2024, despite suggestions he is not injured. With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, indications are he may well leave. This publication reported on Friday, however, that there are, contract talks thought to be underway.  But with the writing seemingly on the wall for Lepasa at Pirates, should arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs be monitoring the situation? Amakhosi have struggled to find the right striker who, is both mobile and physical. They have had either or in the likes of Ashley du Preez, Wandile Duba, Ranga Chivaviro and Jasond Gonzalez this season. It is then no surprise that the club has been failing to find the back of the net regularly for the last four seasons now.  Should Chiefs consider a move for him? Lepasa gives you strength, pace and finishing. He would be able to hold up play and also peel off the defender and run in behind. He has also proven for both Pirates and Bafana that, if backed and given a run, he can score goals for you. The ex-TS Galaxy man also has a big personality with a touch of arrogance that is needed for a striker. What also works in Chiefs favour is that, he is a boyhood Amakhosi fan.  His falling off at Pirates is a strange one, as Lepasa started the season off so well. He is also a bronze medal winner at Afcon with the national side. It is now becoming clear that, for whatever reason, he will not be fancied by coach Jose Riveiro. This is where Chiefs should take a chance and pounce,  Lepasa once revealed that, he was turned down by the Chiefs academy by club legend Arthur Zwane. That had since added to his steely determination to do well against them every chance he gets. Furthermore, he has just turned 27 and should be hitting his prime years. Should he come ‘home’ and enjoy them as a Glamour Boy, as part of their new era?

No one is sure whether he will renew his stay or not. But the fact is that he signed a five-year contract in 2019. It’s ending at the end of the current season and there is nothing on the table yet. But you are aware, Pirates have their own way in terms of how they operate but right now time is running out for Lepasa. And mind you, the team is also inquiring about other strikers and that could have a baring in his contract as well,” said the source to the publication. This publication reported on Thursday that SuperSport United are interested in signing Lepasa permanently. The player was on loan to Matsatsantsa for the second half of the previous campaign and could be interested in the opportunity to lead the line there.

Felt a bit hopeless: Diogo Dalot reveals his lowest point as a Manchester United player Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has pinpointed his time under Ralf Rangnick as the “lowest point” of his career with the club. Dalot was signed from Porto by Jose Mourinho in 2018 to much fanfare and expectations. He however took time to get going, which saw him loaned out to AC Milan during the 2020/21 campaign in search of regular first-team minutes. In Italy, Dalot really matured and developed as a player. He came back to United and played significantly more the following season under the stewardship of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. For the Portugal international like most of his teammates, the Norwegian coach’s sacking saw him endure a lot of misery, especially under Rangnick, who was appointed as interim boss. United sunk to a new low with the German tactician in the dugout as they recorded the worst points return in their history. In an interview with FourFourTwo, Dalot – who has been impressive this term and is a leading contender for Player of the Season – gave some insights on what really transpired under Rangnick. The right-back said, “I came back more confident [from AC Milan] but only started to play more when Ralf Rangnick arrived.” “The end of that season, when we finished badly, was my lowest point as a United player and we felt a bit hopeless. When Erik ten Hag arrived, things improved and I continued to play.” “Off the field, I was settled in Manchester after returning from Milan: my first year in 2018 had not been easy because the weather was so different to Portugal. That was a bit of a shock, as life there is usually outside. I was away from friends too, so I had to build new relationships and meet new people, which takes time.” “But now I have good friends here – from the team, I’m friends with Antony, Casemiro, Licha [Lisandro Martinez] and Bruno, plus David de Gea when he was here.” On his loan spell at Milan, Dalot remarked, “I played loads of minutes, which I needed, as I’d not played regularly for almost a year and a half. Culturally it was important, too – to play in another league and learn a new language. Milan is a cool city, but because of COVID, most things were closed.” The 25-year-old explained that Paolo Maldini, who was Milan’s technical director at the time, played a crucial role in helping him refine his game. According to Dalot, Maldini gave him good pieces of advice about things such as reading opponents and being patient. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Manchester United open to including Mason Mount in player-plus-cash deal for Barcelonas Ronald Araujo Man United News And Transfer News
Manchester United open to including Mason Mount in player-plus-cash deal for Barcelonas Ronald Araujo Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United’s defence has been a shambles all season and a major revamp is on the cards if recent reports are anything to go by. We already know that Raphael Varane is leaving at the conclusion of the season while Jonny Evans’ current deal also ends in June. Both Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have been linked with exits with new co-owners INEOS looking to bring in the right long-term partner for Lisandro Martinez. But with finances tight, and the need to sell of greater importance, the club could look towards innovative ways at acquiring their desired profiles. Araujo interest One player whose name has been doing the rounds a lot lately is Ronald Araujo with plenty of reports suggesting Barcelona are open to a deal should the right conditions be met. Bayern Munich are also reportedly eyeing the Uruguayan who has so far refused to sign a new deal which lends credence to the idea that the Catalan giants are open to the possibility of a sale. Swap deals and Barca seem to be synonymous these days with the rumour mill recently claiming Bruno Fernandes and Frenkie de Jong could exchange places while a deal involving Mason Greenwood and Vitor Roque has also been mooted. Now F365 have relayed that summer signing Mason Mount could make way in a player-plus-cash deal as the Premier League side “seek to reach an agreement” for the Uruguay international. And the former Chelsea star, who has barely played since his summer move due to a multitude of injuries, has been “totally condemned by Erik Ten Hag and Jim Ratcliffe” after only 12 months with the club “looking for a way out for him”. Mount to be sacrificed The 20-time English league champions have offered Mount and €55 million as they “hope to be able to break down the resistance” of Barcelona. It hardly makes sense for the club to chase the England midfielder last summer and bring him in amid intense competition from Liverpool and Arsenal only to sell him after one indifferent season. If Araujo is indeed a definite target, it will be interesting to see how the Old Trafford side approach the deal. The club have also been linked with moves for Jarrad Branthwaite, Antonio Silva and Tosin Adarabioyo. More than one defender could be required considering the size and scale of the revamp. Man Uniteds Alejandro Garnacho facing huge international dilemma ahead of busy summer period Man United News And Transfer News
Man Uniteds Alejandro Garnacho facing huge international dilemma ahead of busy summer period Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho is facing a huge dilemma ahead of this summer’s Copa America tournament and Olympic games. Garnacho has really taken massive strides in his United career this season and is now undoubtedly one of the first names on Erik ten Hag’s team sheet. The 19-year-old’s inclusion in the starting XI against Newcastle on Wednesday was his 36th consecutive start for United this term. Alejandro Garnacho had never started more than two games in a row until November 1. Started every game since then. This is his 36th successive start. Looked in need of a rest on Sunday #mufc — Tyrone Marshall (@TyMarshall_MEN) May 15, 2024 He is the outfield player who has managed the most minutes in the United team only after Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot – such has been his importance to the side, especially during a campaign ravaged by injuries. In 48 appearances across all competitions this season, Garnacho has plundered an impressive nine goals and five assists. Yet according to Relevo, the forward’s exploits may still not be enough to earn him a place in Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina squad ahead of the Copa America tournament next month. The publication notes that Garnacho still hasn’t decided whether he’ll make himself available to the Argentina u23s or the senior side captained by Lionel Messi. The Carrington academy graduate’s preference is obviously to go to the Copa America but the Olympic games complicate matters for him. There is the option of Garnacho playing in both competitions but after a season in which he has been thoroughly utilized by United and Erik ten Hag, he has to manage his workload in order to keep fit ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League term. Garnacho has already lined up for Argentina’s U-20s and the senior team but he is yet to play for the U-23s, who are managed by Javier Mascherano. It’s the U-23s that will compete in the Paris Olympic games. Relevo explain, “Amidst all this we must add the intentions of the player, who will wait to hear the call for the Copa América to evaluate his summer plans. For Scaloni’s coaching staff and many people at AFA, Garnacho has to wait for his moment.” “It is true that he is a player with very great potential and the Argentine Football Association trusts him a lot, but they also want to take him calmly and, ahead of him, there are players (world champions) like Lautaro, Julián Álvarez, Dybala, Di María or even Nicolás González.” “Garnacho is still very young and will have to wait for his opportunity, but if he does not attend the Nort American event [Copa America] and is claimed by Mascherano, he will have to make a decision with his club.” It’s important to note that the Olympic games – which start on July 24 and end on August 10 – fall outside of FIFA dates. As such, United would be under no obligation to release Garnacho to play for the Albiceleste’s U-23s. Relevo point out that if United and Garnacho were to agree for him to play in the Olympics, the young winger would almost certainly miss the club’s pre-season tour and would only come back a week before the Premier League season officially kicks off. In this scenario, the 20-time English champions would then need to give Garnacho a few days or weeks to rest before he links up with his teammates again – an unfathomable situation for both the Reds and the player. All eyes are therefore on Scaloni and whether he calls up Garnacho to his Copa America squad. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Irritated Manchester United stars call out ex-players for constantly hammering them in the media Man United News And Transfer News
1 A number of Manchester United stars have reportedly made contact with ex-players to urge them to stop hammering them in public. It’s understood that one current player in particular has been left “irritated” by the constant criticism of the team and has made it clear he doesn’t appreciate it. To say United have been underwhelming this season would be an understatement. The Red Devils currently lie in eighth place and there’s a real chance the club could miss out on European football entirely. As it stands, it seems like beating Manchester City in the Wembley FA Cup final later this month is United’s best avenue of clinching Europa League football. Unsurprisingly, the poor performances and results Erik ten Hag and his players have consistently served up this season have at times drawn angry reactions and intense criticism from the army of the club’s ex-stars who regularly appear on TV. The likes of Roy Keane, Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Owen Hargreaves and Peter Schmeichel are just typical examples of former United professionals who have taken issue with the team’s displays. Ironically, United’s slump in form coincided with the release of a new Amazon Prime documentary that shed light on the historic 1999 treble-winning term. On that occasion, Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke especially took the opportunity to slam the current squad and express their dissatisfaction with how things are. United’s record goalscorer Wayne Rooney recently suggested that some United players on the club’s payroll are faking injuries to avoid lining up for the club during a tumultuous period. According to the reliable Andy Mitten of The Athletic, some United players have reached out to the ex-pros and told them they’re not happy with some of their unwarranted attacks. Mitten wrote, “The players don’t like criticism from those who won the Treble and have told some of them so in recent weeks.” “There are two sides to this, since pundits are paid to tell it how it is and would look like partisan apologists if they soft-pedalled.” Mitten doubled down on this in the latest episode of Talk of The Devils podcast, which came out after the Reds’ 3-2 win over Newcastle. He mentions the captain Bruno Fernandes as someone who has personally called out United’s ex-pros. “Bruno has been really irritated by former players criticising the team and has told some of them so in recent weeks. There are two sides to that. Ex-players are supposed to tell it like it is but they just feel like they’re getting hammered all the time.” TALK OF THE DEVILS recorded at Old Trafford with @AndyMitten & @Ankaman616 after United’s 3-2 over Newcastle. Bruno Fernandes feels he deserves pay parity with Marcus Rashford Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United’s new co-owners INEOS are desperate to turn around the fortunes of the club under their stewardship following a disastrous spell under the incompetent Glazers ever since the great Sir Alex Ferguson retired. United could miss out on European qualification altogether for next season and Sir Jim Ratcliffe is looking to fix things and that includes a large-scale clearout. There have been reports that the new regime is open to selling most of the first-team squad and despite manager Erik ten Hag’s denial, rumours have continued to swirl over the futures of several high-profile stars. INEOS’ dealings since their 27.7 percent stake was announced has not gone down well with quite a few experienced players “disgruntled” at the club’s attempts at trying to move them on. INEOS handling of affairs has not won them fans Raphael Varane has already announced that he is leaving the club in the summer while Casemiro is attracting plenty of interest from Saudi Arabia. Skipper Bruno Fernandes, who has been by far the best signing in the post-Sir Alex era, is also starting to be linked with an exit which fans will not be happy to hear considering his importance to the team. The Portuguese sat down with the hierarchy to understand their plans for the future and it emerged that a satisfactory conclusion was reached and the club captain was indeed staying put. As per Manchester World, the midfield magician wants a new long-term deal considering his value to the team, which will put him in line with Marcus Rashford, who earned a new contract last season. The Mancunian is paid £300,000 per week without bonuses while the Portugal international earns £240,000 per week (as per capology). The former Sporting Lisbon star still has two years left on his deal along with the option of an additional year. The club is reluctant to increase wages at this point in time as they look to bring the wage situation at the club under control after years of mismanagement. “ManchesterWorld understands Fernandes is among a number of senior players who are disgruntled by Ineos’ handling of the situation, and the general approach since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s partial invest was confirmed in February. “A lack of clear communication has frustrated several players, with a growing sense that experienced squad members are being pushed out. Fernandes wants pay parity “There has also been a feeling of uncertainty surrounding United’s next steps and, as club captain, Fernandes sought clarity in a meeting with senior executives last week. Those talks were seen as largely positive. “But a new contract was not discussed during the in-person meeting. Sources have told ManchesterWorld that Fernandes would be interested in penning a new long-term deal at Old Trafford and feels his commitment, role as captain, and level of performance over several years, should be rewarded with a pay rise on similar terms to that of Marcus Rashford.” Fernandes’ importance certainly merits a place among the top earners at the club and INEOS should try their level best to hold on to their talisman. For now, the 29-year-old is expected to stay put and if he continues to impress, maybe there will be a change of heart. There is also the chance of a departure in 2025. A lot will depend on how the new era pans out. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? David Ornstein: Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants a young manager but Kieran McKenna chase not expected to develop Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe reportedly wants a young and upcoming coach to potentially replace Erik ten Hag but it’s unlikely to be Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna. It’s looking increasingly likely that Ten Hag will be sacked once the season ends and United continue to be strongly linked with a number of top coaches that could succeed the Dutchman. One of these is McKenna, who previously served as a coach at Old Trafford at youth level before being promoted to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s backroom staff when the Norwegian was in the dugout. McKenna secured Premier League promotion with the Tractor Boys on the final matchday of the Championship season – a feat which has earned him rave reviews. The 38-year-old tactician was named Ipswich boss in December 2021 and guided them to finish in 11th position in League One. He led them to promotion to England’s second division the season after and now they’re in the top flight. It’s not just the back-to-back promotions that have earned McKenna admiration and widespread plaudits. It’s also his fantastic style of play. The North Irishman’s brand of football emphasises possession and keeping the ball while fearlessly playing on the front foot. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that amidst United’s interest in him, the Red Devils established contact with the manager’s agent to explore the possibility of him assuming the hot seat. It was stated that McKenna would relish the opportunity to manage United. However, Ornstein has poured cold water on the prospect of McKenna taking over from Ten Hag. The Athletic journalist pointed out, “I imagine he [McKenna] is among many names they are looking at if they undertake a managerial change.” “McKenna is young (which is something I hear Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen on should Man Utd need to make an appointment), has (been) doing fantastically well at Ipswich and has close ties to the club.” “But from the checks I’ve made, there has been no movement from Man Utd towards McKenna and at present the prospect is not expected to develop.” The situation is certainly one for supporters to keep an eye on. Meanwhile, United return to action on Sunday when they take on Brighton in their final match of what has been a disappointing and underwhelming campaign. Manchester Uniteds latest signing confirms his Old Trafford move on social media Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United returned to winning ways with a 3-2 triumph over Newcastle on Wednesday. In the short-term, the win over Magpies has kept Man United’s hopes of qualifying for European competition next season alive. As far as the long-term is concerned, the performance of the Red Devils’ young stars at Old Trafford painted a promising picture for the club’s hierarchy, who have seemingly struck gold with United’s starlets. All three goal-scorers against Newcastle were 21 or younger. Whether United qualify for the Europa League or not, INEOS understand their transfer spending is going to be heavily trimmed this summer amid the Premier League’s PSR concerns. However, this may force the club’s hierarchy to adopt a long-term approach and focus on strengthening United by investing in younger talents — be it for the first-team or academy. It appears the search for such players is already well underway, with United securing the signature of a promising talent ahead of the summer transfer window. United have completed the signing of Dante Plunkett after the teenager’s successful trial period. He announced his move to United by posting a photo of himself with a club shirt on Instagram. The caption of his post read: “Onto bigger things!” The Englishman previously played as a left-back for Aston Villa’s youth sides. He has already made his debut for the Mancunian giants, having featured for their Under-18 side. Next on the cards for Plunkett is to earn a professional contract at the club. While there is a long way to go before he becomes ready for the first team, United’s academy boasts a number of talents who are ready and itching for an opportunity to follow Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho’s footsteps. Harry Amass, who akin to Plunkett is a left-back, has enjoyed an incredible 2023/24 campaign. He was one of the stand-out players in United’s win over Chelsea earlier this week. The 2-1 success helped the side secure the U18 Premier League National title. With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia still on the sidelines, it would not surprise many if Amass features in some capacity against Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend. Alejandro Garnacho emerges as best ball carrier in the Premier League this season Man United News And Transfer News
1 While Manchester United have endured a turbulent season, there has been a silver lining, namely the numerous young talents who have left their mark on the pitch. One of the rising stars who has certainly shown his potential is winger Alejandro Garnacho. The past few weeks have proven tough for the teenager, who struggled to make a positive impact during last night’s 3-2 win over Newcastle United. Nevertheless, it has been a positive season overall for the 19-year-old, who has shown exactly why he deserves a place in Erik ten Hag’s starting 11. With nine goals and five assists in all competitions, Garnacho has played a vital role in several crucial matches to lift Man United to victory. Despite a slow start to the season, Garnacho’s first goal in the current Premier League campaign was one to remember, namely a breathtaking overhead kick to propel United to a 3-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park. He scored two goals to earn United a last-gasp 3-2 win over Aston Villa, while also scoring twice in a 3-0 thumping of West Ham United at Old Trafford. Arguably Garnacho’s most crucial goal contribution this season was his assist in United’s 4-3 victory in extra time against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarterfinal. Now, United are set to face bitter rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25. But while the Argentine has certainly proven his worth by appearing on the scoring sheet and assists charts, his underlying data is perhaps even more impressive. With just one match to go, Garnacho finds himself atop one Opta Analyst Premier League stats table across several metrics. Garnacho has emerged as the top player in Opta Analyst’s carrying rankings, which describe how productive a player is when he performs a carry. This is where a player retains possession and moves the ball five metres or more. Despite making just 19 carries per 90 minutes – putting him quite far down the list – Garnacho is the most successful carrier in the Premier League when it comes to the end product that he delivers. 46% of Garnacho’s carries end in a shot, thereby making him the top player in this metric. This shows just how good the Argentine is at retaining the ball and not being dispossessed – even outperforming the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah. Garnacho is also the Premier League’s top player when it comes to total chance creating carries at 69%. This measure includes shots, key passes, and eventual goals and assists. Carrying aside, the Argentine has proven to be one of the league’s most productive attacking stars. Garnacho ranks 13th overall in attack contributions with a ranking of 5.07. This metric combines non-penalty shots plus chances created from open play. Among the players whom Garnacho have outperformed to date are Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Son Heung-Min, and even United skipper Bruno Fernandes. Ultimately, these statistics show just how productive Garnacho has been this season, consistently pressuring opposing defences in search of a goal or at least an assist. While his form may have recently dropped, he has no doubt proven himself to be one of United’s finest attacking assets this season. With the right management, United have a clinical attacker on their hands going into the next season. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Kaizer Chiefs bound German-born coach set for interview
Kaizer Chiefs bound German-born coach emerges as new candidate to take forward Naturena project. Chiefs stand at the door of transformation, with a new mentor knocking. At the heart of this resurgence lies the compelling narrative of the current TS Galaxy head coach. A seasoned tactician whose potential appointment as head coach heralds a new era of hope and revitalization for the struggling club. Strategic Talks Unveil Kaizer Chiefs’ Pursuit of Sead Ramovic as Next Head Coach Kaizer Chiefs is embarking on a transformative journey with their sights set on Sead Ramovic to lead the charge, based on insights from Transfermarkt. Formal discussions signify a pivotal juncture in the club’s mission to reignite its former glory. The South African also did its own research via a source close to the matter and discovered the following “All I know is that he(Ramovic) will have an interview with Kaizer Chiefs in the next few days. The interview is the only thing I can confirm. So it’s just an interview for now,” said the source. However, on Tuesday Petro de Luanda’s talented head coach, Alexandre Santos, emerged as the new leading candidate for Kaizer Chiefs. Which gives the impression that an unofficial decision has not been made as yet. Kaizer Chiefs bound Ramovic: A Strategic Move for Amakhosi  In their quest for resurgence, Kaizer Chiefs meticulously scout for a head coach, spotlighting Sead Ramovic for his stellar track record. TS Galaxy appointed former Wolfsburg goalkeeper Sead Ramović as their head coach on a three-year deal, marking a strategic transition from player to master tactician. Ramovic, Stuttgart-born, aged 45, assumed the reins from Owen Da Gama following the club’s turbulent start in the 2021/2022 season. Despite his initial obscurity to South African audiences. Ramovic’s extensive playing career across top European leagues, spanning over 15 years, established a solid foundation for his coaching endeavours. Representing esteemed clubs in Germany such as Stuttgarter Kickers, VfL Stuttgart, Borussia M’gladbach, and Kickers Offenbach, Ramovic later ventured to Norway, where he enjoyed a four-year stint with Tromso Idrettslag. The Effect: Transforming Teams and Players Ramovic’s coaching philosophy and training methodologies have not only reshaped team structures. But also nurtured individual player development at TS Galaxy. Known for his demanding yet liberating approach. Ramovic empowers players to leverage their strengths while maintaining unwavering commitment. Balancing diligence with creativity defines Ramovic’s coaching prowess. Fostering an environment where players thrive both collectively and individually. Galvanizing Galaxy: Ramovic’s Impact on TS Galaxy Under Ramovic’s guidance, TS Galaxy has undergone a notable transformation. Which is epitomised by their captivating style of play. Despite speculation linking him to larger clubs like Kaizer Chiefs, Ramovic remains steadfast in his commitment to the Galaxy project. While his focus remains on Galaxy’s journey, Ramovic acknowledges the gratification of receiving recognition for his efforts. Underscoring the positive sentiments echoed by supporters and pundits alike. “I would like to say it is nice when people recognise your hard work,” Ramovic said after being linked to and beating Kaizer Chiefs at the beginning of the current season. The Rockets are currently positioned fifth on the league table with 40 points. Which demonstrates remarkable progress compared to their previous season’s standings of ending 10th and with 30 points. With a potential leap to fourth place this season. The Rockets signify a resurgence under Ramovic’s tutelage. Which also symbolises a promising trajectory for the club’s future if he should stay.

RC Lens studying the feasibility of a return for outgoing Man United defender Raphael Varane Man United News And Transfer News
1 French club RC Lens are reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing back Raphael Varane to his boyhood club but remain unsure about the best approach to take regarding such an ambitious move. On Tuesday, United confirmed that Varane will leave the club at the end of the season following the expiry of his contract. Since he arrived in England from Real Madrid in July 2021, the World Cup winner has been one of United’s highest earners on around £340,000 per week. There were efforts to reach an agreement on reduced terms but nothing materialised and so, a decision was made to part ways with Varane. The centre-back was accompanied by United teammate Anthony Martial in saying goodbye to the fans at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, following the clubs 3-2 win against Newcastle. According to Foot Mercato, Varane is already attracting overtures from interested parties, who are seemingly aware that they can secure the services of a top defender on a free. It’s understood that Lens in particular are “studying the feasibility of a return” for the former France international. The publication however notes that it’s still “premature” to certainly consider a comeback for Varane to be firmly on the cards. This is because Lens have not approached the player’s camp and have not taken any concrete steps to add him to their ranks. Foot Mercato urge for fans to “keep reason” but there is still hope as Varane has a strong desire to line up for Lens again one day. The 31-year-old himself previously said that he would retire either at United or at Lens – where it all started for him.” Varane remarked, “I will finish my career either in Madrid, Manchester, or Lens. It’s certain that I won’t join another club. But Madrid seems complicated to me, we don’t usually come back there.” “The most likely today is that I end up in Manchester or Lens.” Meanwhile, the four-time Champions League has returned to United training and it remains to be seen whether he’ll play a part in the team’s clash on the final day of the season vs. Brighton. Barcelona considering shock swoop for Manchester United womens star Ella Toone Man United News And Transfer News
Barcelona considering shock swoop for Manchester United womens star Ella Toone Man United News And Transfer News
1 Catalan giants Barcelona are reportedly weighing up a move for Manchester United women’s star Ella Toone this summer. According to The Daily Mail, Barcelona – who already have some English players in their ranks – retain an admiration for Toone and are interested in prying her from United’s grasp. Toone is enjoying a brilliant season and it’s not surprising that she’s attracting overtures from abroad. In 21 WSL appearances this term, the Tyldesley-born footballer has notched an impressive six goals and four assists. In the FA Cup alone, which United won on Sunday as they tore Tottenham Hotspur apart in a 4-0 thrashing, Toone has plundered three goals and two assists in five appearances. She scored a cracking goal in the final at Wembley, which opened the floodgates and spurred the Red Devils to put Spurs to the sword. The report states, “Mail Sport understands that no formal approach has been made yet, but Barca are weighing up making a move for the forward at the end of the season.” “Toone, 24, is under contract until 2026 meaning Barca would need to pay a significant fee to prize her away from United.” “Barca will also need to consider whether they can make the move work given they are set to renew Alexia Putellas’ contract and are in the process of negotiating with England defender Lucy Bronze over a new deal.” Toone has spent the last six years at United and has been a key player for the club. She was part of the squad that won promotion to the top flight in 2019. In that period, she’s also been a prominent member of the England squad. She helped the Lionesses win Euro 22 on home solid and was also part of the side that reached the World Cup final last summer. Unfortunately for Toone and her teammates, they fell short at the final hurdle as they were handed a defeat by Spain. United have one more game left this season, against title-chasing Chelsea at Old Trafford. Hopefully, that occasion won’t be Toone’s last match in the red shirt. Bvuma pays tribute to Chiefs Khune before final home game
‘Growing up every goalkeeper looked up to Khune,’ said Bvuma. Kaizer Chiefs first choice goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma has paid tribute to Itumeleng Khune, ahead of what could be the veteran shot-stopper’s last home game with Amakhosi, when they take on Polokwane City at FNB Stadium on Saturday. Chiefs announced on Thursday that they will honour Khune ahead of the game against Rise and Shine, with the 36 year-old having served the club for 25 years. The former Chiefs captain may well be playing his last season at Amakhosi, with Chiefs having already said his most recent playing contract, which expires in June, will be his last. Khune has had a troubled campaign, suspended by the club and stripped of the captaincy late last year, after reportedly arriving at training under the influence of alcohol. The 36 year-old had his suspension lifted in March, however, and made his first appearance in the Chiefs matchday squad in their last match, a 1-1 DStv Premiership draw at AmaZulu. “Itu is a legend of the team, it is always nice to have him with us, whether it is going to a game or chilling or training, for me it is a blessing,” said Bvuma. “Guys like Itu only come along once, what he has done for this team and for his country is massive. I am grateful he was there with me when we played in Durban (against AmaZulu).” Khune is likely to be on the bench again on Saturday, with Brandon Petersen still serving a suspension, but it is unlikely he will play in either this match or the final match of the season at Cape Town Spurs, with Chiefs still chasing points to secure a top eight finish. ‘Itu taught me a lot’ “I will miss his personality,” added Bvuma. “Itu taught me a lot, coming from development, he told me he had been in my situation before. I trained with the first team when I was in Chiefs development, and I didn’t have a contract. Itu helped me, sometimes I didn’t have the money to come to training and Itu was there for me. “Growing up every goalkeeper looked up to Khune, how he is and who he is. He played a huge role in goalkeepers wanting to make it professionally. “Itu is a hard worker, even now he keeps working hard, If you want to be better than others you need to give more. These are some of the ways he taught me and why he has managed to be where he is today.”

Thiago Motta: Man United managerial target draws closer to Juventus as they offer him three-year deal Man United News And Transfer News
1 Bologna boss and reported Manchester United target Thiago Motta is drawing closer to sealing a move to Juventus, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Amidst intense pressure on Erik ten Hag, whose future at Old Trafford is hanging in the balance, Motta has been mentioned as a manager Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are eyeing. Motta has earned praise for his work at Bologna this season, which he capped by guiding the club to a European finish for the first time in 22 years. Even more impressive is that Bologna will be making that bow in the Champions League. The former Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan midfielder has become synonymous with a high possession-based brand of football which prioritises playing on the front foot and overcoming opponents with exquisite passing and fluid play patterns. Motta’s football philosophy also emphasises winning the ball high up the pitch and hitting teams in transition. It’s therefore easy to see why United retain an admiration for him, especially considering Ten Hag’s failure to implement a clear and defined style of play. The 20-time English champions are not the only party believed to be chasing Motta. Juventus and AC Milan are also thought to have him on their radar. A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Milan had established contact with Motta’s camp to explore the possibility of him taking over from Stefano Pioli. However, it’s Juventus’ links to the 41-year-old that appear to really be gaining traction and in a fresh update provided by Romano, the Serie A giants have taken a significant step in their efforts to land the tactician by offering him a contract. Khune, a stalwart of South African football, has been a pillar of strength for Kaizer Chiefs for over two decades, having arrived as a youngster from Ventersdorp, in the North West, back in 1999. Known for his exceptional goalkeeping skills and leadership on and off the field, Khune started in the Kaizer Chiefs Youth Development Academy before being promoted to the senior team at the start of the 2004/2005 season. Itumeleng Khune in his 20th season at Kaizer Chiefs Khune spent five years in the youth structures, and is currently in his record-setting 20th season with the senior team. Supporters in Gauteng, and those from further afield who are able to travel, are encouraged to show appreciation for Khune’s contributions to the Amakhosi cause. The game against Polokwane City will not only be a crucial match for Kaizer Chiefs, with three vital points at stake, but also a poignant moment for fans to celebrate the career of a true legend of the game in South Africa. Kaizer Chiefs: SIX players heading out of Naturena
Kaizer Chiefs: SIX players heading out of Naturena
Amakhosi fans must brace themselves for several changes with Kaizer Chiefs appointing a new coach and several player movements on the cards. Eight Chiefs players contracts are set to expire at the end of the season. Moreover, the new Chiefs coach will decide on the futures of these players. As things stand, most of the players will not earn contract renewals with management having made some decisions already. Therefore, the new coach will have the final say. Now, another player has been added to the list of likely exits. SIX PLAYERS LIKELY LEAVING CHIEFS Jasond Gonzales, George Matlou, Njabulo Ngcobo, Keagan Dolly and Itumeleng Khune are all facing probably exits. In fact, Amakhosi management has decided to let Gonzales go at the end of the season, according to recent reports. Meanwhile, Matlou and his camp are unhappy with his lack of gametime. Furthermore, this is unlikely to change given his current place in the squad. He sits behind the likes of Yusuf Maart, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and even Samkelo Zwane and Edson Castillo. Ironically, Castillo is also unhappy with his lack of game time and he considering leaving with offers already on the table, according to KickOff. Ngcobo has not been offered a new contract with AmaZulu, according to SABCSport. Chiefs’ DStv Premiership rivals are holding talks with Amakhosi in an attempt to sign the former Bafana Bafana defender. “Kaizer Chiefs is a professional club, they communicate about their intentions. Unfortunately, they have not said anything about Njabulo Ngcobo. We are in talks with different clubs in the DStv Premiership, including AmaZulu FC,” Ngubane said to Ukhozi FM. DOLLY’S LIFE IS ABOUT TO CHANGE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER Dolly has missed most of the season with injury. Prior to this, he has failed to be consistent in front of goal. Failed to touch his staggering PSL salary of R1.45 million. The highest-paid player in the league would not even start at Mamelodi Sundowns. Additionally, he probably would not start at rivals Orlando Pirates either, given his form. His lack of form and game-time have resulted in management offering him a reduced-salary. Meaning, he could leave if he does not agree but it is clear the club does not value him as much as they used to – financially at least. END OF AN ERA FOR LAST STANDING AMAKHOSI LEGEND Amakhosi legends Bernard Parker, Siphiwe Shabalala, Erick Mathoho, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Williard Katsand have all left Chiefs in the past few years. Meaning, Khune is the long-standing and last standing club legend still playing. However, his contract is set to expire at the end of the season. Unfortunately, despite wanting to play for a couple more seasons, it is unlikely to be for the Soweto giants. His recent actions huge consequences. Essentially, after Khune arrived to training drunk, management put their foot down. First, he was dished out a suspension and now he is unlikely top earn a contract extension with Amakhosi management adopting a zero tolerance policy towards drinking and substance use.

Furthermore, Appollis, who is enjoying his breakout season, is also being considered by the Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. Similar to Appollis, Mokwana has caught the eye of all three Gauteng superclubs. The newly capped Bafana Bafana star currently has four goals and four assists. Spurs’ Cupido, the top goalscorer in the Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) last season, is a target despite a somewhat disappointing term this season. New Kaizer Chiefs era to start with Percy Tau statement signing?
New Kaizer Chiefs era to start with Percy Tau statement signing?
Kaizer Chiefs are expected to make some big changes on and off the field at the end of the season. Chiefs will be hoping to appoint a new coaching staff that can change the club’s fortunes going forward. That change of fortunes will require some freedom for the new coaching staff to dip into the market. This being in an effort to find some quality players that can come into the club and take the Chiefs brand back to where it belongs. It is no secret that Amakhosi have had a large turnover of players over the last two pre-season transfer windows. Neither have been a success, unfortunately.  Chiefs looking to start new era Ahead of the 2022/23 season, Chiefs signed Ashley du Preez, Zitha Kwinika, George Matlou, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Yusuf Maart, Siyethemba Sithebe and Dillan Solomons. Then as the season progressed they added Edmilson Dove, Caleb Bimenyimana and Christian Saile. Out of those 10 players, two have been released by the club already, while at least five have been linked with an exit. At the start of the current season, Chiefs revamped their playing squad, making nine signings. These included Thathoyaone Dithlokwe, Given Msimango, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Pule Mmodi, Ranga Chivaviro, Edson Castillo and Potsane. Then, with the season already under way, Chiefs added Jasond Gonzales and Sibongiseni Mthethwa. In October, they added a 10th signing, the late centre back Luke Fleurs. The former SA U23 star joined Amakhosi on a red transfer from SuperSport United.  That represents a turn over of 20 new signings made by two coaches that have all proven unsuccessful. Now under permanent coach number four, Chiefs will be looking to put things right. Now as a result of just that, it is believed that the Amakhosi management are ready to sanction a move big move. This in the shape of Bafana Bafana international Percy Tau.  Tau to lead that new era? “There are some players who the team have listed as their targets and Percy Tau is one of them. But you know, the challenge will be if he wants to come to South Africa and Kaizer Chiefs for that matter. You know, management has made it clear that from next season they want to bring in the best players and the best coach. So it would not be Tau only, as there are other big name players they are looking at. Chiefs are inquiring to fill up all the positions from goalkeeper, to defenders, midfielders and strikers. But for now, the one I can tell you that we know is on the list is Percy Tau,”. Said a source to Soccer-Laduma.  Tau is currently in an ongoing tiff over a new contract with Al Ahly. The Egyptian giants are reportedly willing to let him go for the right price, however. Can Chiefs bring him home?

Liverpool FC 2023/24 awards Player of the season best goal & more Liverpool FC
At the end of another long, dramatic season for Liverpool, This Is Anfield’s contributors voted for their 2023/24 award winners and gave an overall rating. The season threatened to be legendary at one point with a quadruple seemingly possible, but the campaign ended in anticlimactic fashion. Who stands out in the various categories in This Is Anfield’s end-of-season awards? Here is what our contributors think…   Matt Ladson Player of the season: Alexis Mac Allister Young player of the season: Jarell Quansah Most improved player: Harvey Elliott Goal of the season: Alexis Mac Allister vs. Fulham Biggest disappointment: Defeat to Atalanta and thus failing to even make the Europa League final. Overall season rating: 3 Jack Lusby Player of the season: Alexis Mac Allister Young player of the season: Harvey Elliott Most improved player: Jarell Quansah Goal of the season: Dominik Szoboszlai vs. Leicester Biggest disappointment: Thiago‘s fitness. Overall season rating out of 5: 3 Joanna Durkan Player of the season: Virgil van Dijk Young player of the season: Jarell Quansah Most improved player: I’m torn between two but going to say Caoimhin Kelleher, who took his unexpected chance. Goal of the season: Alexis Mac Allister vs. Fulham Biggest disappointment: How we crumbled at the most crucial point of the season – those two Man United results absolutely killed us. Overall season rating out of 5: 3.5 David Lynch Player of the season: Virgil van Dijk Young player of the season: Jarell Quansah Most improved player: Harvey Elliott Goal of the season: Alexis Mac Allister vs. Fulham Biggest disappointment: Another season being derailed by injuries. Overall season rating out of 5: 4 Sam Millne Player of the season: Alexis Mac Allister Young player of the season: Harvey Elliott Most improved player: Jarell Quansah Goal of the season: Alexis Mac Allister vs. Fulham Biggest disappointment: So much of our downfall at the end of the season being self-imposed. Overall season rating out of 5: 3.5 Henry Jackson Player of the season: Virgil van Dijk Young player of the season: Harvey Elliott Most improved player: Jarell Quansah Goal of the season: Alexis Mac Allister vs. Sheffield United Biggest disappointment: The mentality on show in both Old Trafford games. So weak there, time and time again. Overall season rating out of 5: 3.5 seems about right – three would feel harsh but it doesn’t warrant a four. Adam Beattie Player of the season: Alexis Mac Allister Young player of the season: Harvey Elliott Most improved player: That’s a really tricky one but I’d probably have to go for Jarell Quansah in terms of the jump he’s made in one year. Goal of the season: Alexis Mac Allister vs. Fulham Biggest disappointment: The two results at Old Trafford. Overall season rating out of 5: 3.5 Chris Williams Player of the season: Alisson Young player of the season: Jarell Quansah Most improved player: Alexis Mac Allister Goal of the season: Alexis Mac Allister vs. Sheffield United Biggest disappointment: Darwin Nunez and April’s weak mentality. Overall season rating out of 5: 3 and the League Cup win saved it from being a 2. It was a promising-looking season that was ultimately let down by a mental collapse, on the field and in the dugout, with the title in our own destiny and the Europa League final easily achievable. Karl Matchett Player of the season: Virgil van Dijk Young player of the season: Jarell Quansah Most improved player: Joe Gomez, but Caoimhin Kelleher definitely deserves mention. Goal of the season: The combination of Wataru Endo and Trent Alexander-Arnold vs Fulham Biggest disappointment: Trent Alexander-Arnold, individually. Collectively, an absolute shambles defensively and offensively in the final three months points to really poor preparation/coaching/mentality/drive. Overall season rating out of 5: 3. For eight months, domestic form was better than expected, but the last two months are almost worth a minus two. A cup win saves it. The results Overall, we’re going for Mac Allister as Player of the Season, with Van Dijk a close second. The best youngster was between Elliott and Quansah, so we’ve decided to give Elliott the Young Player of the Season award while Quansah gets the Most Improved prize. Goal of the season goes to Mac Allister for his sublime outside-of-the-boot strike against Fulham on December 3, a match littered with contenders for the award. Overall, we’re giving the season a rating of 3.5 out of 5. Had the season stopped in April, we could have been looking at full marks, but late collapse has put a significant dampener on the mood.

Uncertainty surrounding Erik ten Hags position affecting Manchester Uniteds transfer plans Man United News And Transfer News
Uncertainty surrounding Erik ten Hags position affecting Manchester Uniteds transfer plans Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United’s need for defensive reinforcements is pretty clear to see after the season they just had. The Red Devils have conceded 84 goals across all competitions, the most in over 60 years. Raphael Varane has already announced that he will be leaving once the season concludes and Jonny Evans could join him as his deal also ends in June. Keeping in mind Profit and Sustainability rules, the club will need to balance their books to steer clear of trouble and both Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof have been linked with exits this summer. INEOS could be forced to bring in more than one centre-back to partner Lisandro Martinez next season but they will have to be smart about how much they can spend and cannot afford to go all gung-ho with their recruitment. CB search Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo is available on a free as his contract with the Cottagers ends in June with new technical director Jason Wilcox keen to bring the stopper to Old Trafford. The duo had worked together during their time at the Manchester City academy but despite the 26-year-old’s inclination to join the 20-time English league champions, the uncertainty surrounding the managerial position at the club means the deal has stalled. Erik ten Hag’s position is far from secure with the FA Cup final likely to determine whether the Dutchman continues at the helm or is forced to leave. So far the official line from INEOS is that a concrete decision is yet to be taken and this uncertainty is disrupting United’s plans in the market. EtH dilemma could cost United The club will not sign a player that the manager does not want and therefore, any potential business dealings will have to wait till an official confirmation. The Fulham star’s strong showings at the heart of defence has generated plenty of interest from fellow top-flight teams with Newcastle United among the suitors. HITC have now revealed that the Magpies could now take a decisive lead in the race with Sir Jim Ratcliffe dilly-dallying over a decision. Eddie Howe has reportedly offered a clear plan to the former City star. “The club is making moves in the transfer market including their move for Fulham star Adarabioyo – with United’s new technical director Jason Wilcox trying to persuade him to follow him to Old Trafford. Newcastle take the lead “Whilst the Manchester-born stopper is keen on a move to United, the major issue – and one that means the 26-year-old can’t yet commit to the club – is that they are unable to confirm to him who his potential boss would be next season. “Because of this, HITC can confirm that United’s move for Adarabioyo has indeed stalled because of the uncertainty over who will be in charge next season. “That does leave Newcastle in pole position for the player – as they drive home to the player the fact that they will give him the chance to start next season.” The club could rue their mistake if they allow such smart deals to elude their grasp. It will be intriguing to see how long INEOS take to bring order to the club and when they really kickstart transfer proceedings. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Liverpool not looking to sell Luis Diaz this summer says reliable journalist Liverpool FC
Liverpool not looking to sell Luis Diaz this summer says reliable journalist Liverpool FC
Luis Diaz has been the subject of various transfer rumours in recent weeks, but the latest reports are that Liverpool are ‘not looking to sell’ their winger. The 27-year-old has been linked to Barcelona and PSG of late, ramping up speculation that he could be one of the players to leave Anfield this summer. Diaz’s father has spoken several times about his son and a move to Barcelona, though the Spanish side currently do not look to have the funds necessary to force Liverpool’s hand. And it would need to be forced as the Athletic‘s David Orstein has stated the club do not want to sell the Colombian, who is contracted until 2027. He is viewed as an ‘integral’ part of the team, a stance that will not surprise many but may be debated among supporters. Diaz himself recently insisted he is “very happy” at Liverpool and believes “great years are coming for the club,” despite Jurgen Klopp‘s imminent departure. “The truth is that I am very happy to be here. Great years are coming for the club, I have no doubt about that,” Diaz said. A new wide player in the summer The line on Diaz comes a fortnight after Ornstein stated that Liverpool are poised to target a new “wide player” in the summer. At that time, the No. 7’s name was thrown into the discussion amid doubts over his future, but Liverpool are seemingly eager to keep hold of the Colombia international. The Reds have been linked to a number of forwards, including Leeds‘ Crysencio Summerville, who the Mail claims will demand a fee over £30 million, and Newcastle‘s Anthony Gordon. The Toon have no intention of letting Gordon go, though, and they would be asking for a lot more than £30 million if they did! PSV’s Johan Bakayoko, West Ham‘s Mohammed Kudus and Palace’s Michael Olise have also been name-checked, and it will be interesting to see how this develops into the summer. The club need reliable goalscorers up top – in terms of availability and scoring prowess – and the recent rough patch has shone a light on what new sporting director Richard Hughes will focus on this summer.

Hugo Broos vendetta or state of the club?
Hugo Broos vendetta or state of the club?
Kaizer Chiefs have had no representatives in the Bafana Bafana side for a minute now. Furthermore, national players have lost their spots since coming to Naturena. Interestingly, a peculiar trend has developed in recent seasons – join Chiefs and lose your spot in the national team. National regulars who were signed recently signed by Amakhosi have been excluded by Broos. Once again, only one Amakhosi player made the recent preliminary Bafana Bafana squad. However, Bruce Bvuma is likely to be dropped when Broos announces his final 23-man squad in a couple of days. Meanwhile, players who were in the picture are now no longer considered due to their lack of game time with the Soweto giants. CHIEFS BAFANA BAFANA ‘CURSE’? Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Yusuf Maart, Ashley Du Preez were all in the national team picture before joining Amakhosi. Since joining the Soweto giants they have all fallen out of the national picture. Maart was a regular when he was at Sekhukhune United. However, despite being a regular starter for Amakhosi he missed the recent AFCON and has been excluded from Broos’ recent Bafana Bafana squads. Additionally, Keagan Dolly has fallen out of favor with Broos, recently. Although, he has been injured and is entering the latter stage of his career. Mthethwa was injured and has only just returned from a long-term lay-off. So, he presents Amakhosi’s best chance of breaking the trend. Finally, Du Preez was a star at Stellenbosch FC and he finally earned a call-up but he is struggling to make recent sides selected by Broos. FROM PLAYING FOR SA TO BENCHING AT AMAKHOSI Moreover, there were players who were in the national set-up who have since fallen out due to lack of game-time with the Soweto giants. Namely, Bruce Bvuma and Njabulo Ngcobo. From Bafana Bafana stars to benching at Amakhosi. In fact, Bvuma was the prime back-up to Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams before falling down the pecking order with the likes of Brandon Peterson and Itumeleng Khune preferred. Furthermore, former star Daniel Akpeji was also ahead of him. His lack of game time has cost him dearly with the former second choice national keeper not even considered over the past few seasons. Peterson suspension and mental issues have seen Bvuma earn a few rare starts in the DStv Premiership lately. Meanwhile, Ngcobo was becoming a key part of the national set up. Unfortunately, his lack of game time has seen him in the same boat as Bvuma. Lately, he has not been considered because he is simply not earning enough time to prove himself. Do you think Hugo Broos has a personal vendetta with Chiefs or is the state of the club bringing down quality players? What do you think has cursed this Bafana Bafana ‘curse’, Amakhosi? Let us know in the comments below.
