PSL top dogs battle it out for SuperSport United star
PSL top dogs Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, and Kaizer Chiefs are locked in a fierce battle. And it’s a pursuit to secure the services of a highly sought-after SuperSport United defender. At just 23 years old, Kegan Johannes has emerged as a prime target for the top three PSL clubs, each vying to bolster their ranks for the upcoming season. While initially targeted by Pirates as previously reported. Their rivals, Sundowns, have now thrown their hat into the ring, according to Soccer Laduma. They have expressed a keen interest in the South African youth international. Despite denials from Johannes’ camp regarding links with the Soweto giants, insider reports reveal that Sundowns have entered the fray. Recognizing the young player’s potential to make a significant impact on the field. Johannes has also signed a new contract extension with SuperSport United. The defender has agreed to stay with the club for another two years, with the option to remain until 2026. But it is not seen as a stumbling block at the moment.   PSL: Who will secure his signature? Although reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns aren’t in dire need of a right back. They are keen to follow the blueprint that saw them nurture talents like Zuko Mdunyelwa. With an aim to groom Johannes as an understudy to senior defenders such as Khuliso Mudau. Furthermore, Johannes’ versatility as a defender adds another dimension to Sundowns’ defensive options. Orlando Pirates, on the other hand, have been vocal about their struggles to find consistency in the right-back position. With recent injuries sidelining key players like Thabiso Lebitso recently. The club has had to rely on makeshift solutions while awaiting their recovery. Monare replacement ever ready  Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates are gearing up for the departure of Thabang Monare at the end of the season. Rather than seeking external reinforcements, the club is poised to place their trust in Siphelo Baloni. He would have to step up and fill the void left by the departing Bafana Bafana international. Baloni, 24, has gradually acclimated to the top flight since his move from All Stars FC, showcasing his potential across 11 appearances in various competitions. Monare however is reportedly not short of suitors as clubs fight for his signature.  With the transfer window looming, all eyes are on Johannes and the unfolding drama surrounding his potential move to one of the PSL giants. Stay tuned for further updates as the race for his signature heats up in the coming weeks.

Referee confirmed for Liverpool vs. Wolves 2 picks to rile up Klopp for final time! Liverpool FC
It should come as no surprise that for Jurgen Klopp‘s final match he will have David Coote acting as VAR when Liverpool take on Wolves on Sunday – they really love stirring the pot! Sunday is the final act for Klopp as Reds manager, with Gary O’Neil’s Wolves side the final opposition as the curtain falls on an unbelievable tenure at Anfield. The result, whatever it may be come the final whistle, will not change Liverpool’s position in the table, with third-place guaranteed. But there could yet be some final referee drama for Klopp after the appointments were confirmed for the final matchday. The headline for Liverpool is that Chris Kavanagh will be the man in the middle, with Coote acting as VAR back at Stockley Park. And surprise, surprise, Klopp has history with both of them! Coote has long courted controversy on Merseyside and beyond and it was only a few weeks ago that he was described as a “Hall of Shame performance” for his role in the middle in the win over Brighton. Moreover, Coote, of course, was the one who failed to recommend a penalty for Martin Odegaard’s handball in the 1-1 draw between Liverpool and Arsenal in December, when he was on VAR duty. Referee chief Howard Webb has since admitted the incident was a mistake, and yet here we are again! As for Kavanagh, Klopp criticised his performance in the League Cup final, saying “the referee did not have the level of the game.” “I’m not sure if these boys are too quick for them, but this situation, for me, is obvious,” he said when reflecting on Moises Caicedo’s nasty challenge that injured Ryan Gravenberch. Kavanagh has overseen the Reds 19 times in his career and Klopp’s men have lost just three times – this season, Liverpool have won three of the six games with him in the middle. At Anfield, Kavanagh will be assisted by Simon Bennett and Dan Robathan, while Anthony Backhouse will act as the fourth official. Finally, Scott Ledger will assist Coote on VAR.

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star to sign for Stellenbosch?
Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star to sign for Stellenbosch?
Some Kaizer Chiefs players become well-known before making DStv Premiership debuts. An example is the highly-rated left-back Unathi Omega Mdaka. UNATHI OMEGA MDAKA LEAVES KAIZER CHIEFS In addition to making his name in the DStv Diski Challenge, the 20-year-old Mdaka was in the big news when Kaizer Chiefs announced his departure from Amakhosi last year. Mdaka, together with his former teammate, Puso Dithejane, were released from Naturena for refusing to stand as ball-boys in a senior team game at the FNB Stadium. The duo were later released with Kaizer Chiefs putting price tags of R1.5 million on each player as compensation for the club’s development investment. Dithejane later joined TS Galaxy, where he excelled in 14 appearances in the DStv Premiership and Nedbank Cup. His former Kaizer Chiefs peer Mdaka later started to train with AmaZulu but did not sign a deal. “He [Omega Mdaka] was training with us for a week, but from there, I think he was a good player, very interesting for the club,” AmaZulu coach Pablo Franco Martin told iDiski Times in April. “For the future of the club, he showed 100% but from what I heard there was some problem with the negotiations between the clubs and his release clause from [Kaizer] Chiefs, so it was impossible to finalise the deal. “This is the only thing I heard and that was a long time ago and if I’m not mistaken that was November,” the Spaniard cocluded. SPOTTED AT STELLENBOSCH FC Meanwhile, Mdaka has been spotted at Stellenbosch. While Stellies have not made any statements, the former Kaizer Chiefs star was part of DStv Diski team’s league celebrations last week. Rasmus Hojlund has a better goal conversion rate than Erling Haaland this season Man United News And Transfer News
Rasmus Hojlund has a better goal conversion rate than Erling Haaland this season Man United News And Transfer News
1 There has been much chatter around Manchester United’s £72m summer recruit, Rasmus Hojlund, this season. In many ways it is difficult to properly assess his first season in England. On the one hand he has gone for long periods of the season without scoring, famously taking until Boxing Day to open his account in domestic football. Moreover, he has only scored two goals since the 18th of February, where he grabbed a brace against Luton Town. However, he did score five goals in the Champions League and is still the competition’s fifth top scorer despite not playing in it since December when United were knocked out in the group stages. In addition, he has found the back of the net 15 times in all competitions and is the club’s joint top goalscorer with Bruno Fernandes. Last night the young Dane came off the bench to grab a crucial third goal which gave the Red Devils the cushion late on to eventually win the match 3-2 and keep their European hopes alive to the final game of the season against Brighton. Statman Dave brought up an interesting statistic which perhaps highlights how the former Atalanta striker is not getting the praise he deserves in his first season in England. Rasmus Hojlund has now got a better chance conversion (24%) than Erling Haaland (23%) in the Premier League this season. If I speak, I am in BIG trouble… pic.twitter.com/BA5fL0ls5Y — Statman Dave (@StatmanDave) May 15, 2024 The football statistician posted on X, “Rasmus Hojlund has now got a better chance conversion (24%) than Erling Haaland (23%) in the Premier League this season.” It is easy to look at Hojlund’s long goal droughts and of course, no player should be exempt from blame. He often struggles to hold the ball up and can have a loose first touch but all this is common for a player who really doesn’t have that much experience of first team football. Erik ten Hag has already confirmed that the original plan was not for Hojlund to come in right away and lead the line as he wanted to sign Harry Kane. What’s more, INEOS hope to bring in another striker in the summer to ease the burden on the young man for the upcoming season. Anthony Martial’s complete disappearance since December has also hardly helped the Dane. He has had to live off scraps as it was reported that United players were unwilling to pass to him as they did not trust him and were not convinced of his talents. In addition, before the game last night, Hojlund had only five chances in eight matches. No striker in world football could score under such conditions. Former United captain Gary Neville has subsequently claimed that the player could have a very good career but will never be a top-class Premier League striker. Statman Dave’s statistic obviously does not mean Hojlund is better than Haaland, far from it. But what it does show is that there is lethal striker in there, who if given a reasonable amount of chances, will probably score a hatful of goals. It stands to reason that if the player is in a more creative team next year, coupled with a year’s experience under his belt playing in English football, the boyhood United fan can certainly aim to break the 20 goal barrier on a regular basis in the forthcoming years. FSG could buy out Everton investors to take over Brazilian club Liverpool FC
FSG could buy out Everton investors to take over Brazilian club Liverpool FC
FSG are ever-closer to expanding their football portfolio, and reports suggest they are showing interest in buying a Brazilian club who have been in the hands of Everton‘s investors. Liverpool’s owners have been securing the personnel to move forward with their ambitions to buy a second club in recent months, with Michael Edwards and Julian Ward back in the fold. The recent signing of Benfica’s technical director, Pedro Marques, was also another nod to their ambitions, with a second club described as “imminent” in a recent report. It was speculated that it would be in Europe, but a report in Brazil has claimed FSG have shown interest in securing Vasco da Gama, a club based in Rio de Janeiro. As per outlet O Globo, a Brazilian judge has acted to remove 777 Partners from control of Vasco Da Gama using article 477 of the Civil Code. Everton‘s investors are in legal and financial turmoil, they currently face a $600 million (£473.5m) fraud lawsuit in a federal court in New York, and cannot adequately show they are in the club’s best interests. With 777’s board members removed, there is an opening for interested suitors to acquire 777’s stake – which stands at 31 percent – and FSG are deemed to be one of them. Will FSG look to capitalise? The takeover at Everton is on the brink of collapse as 777 Partners continue to prove themselves to be incompetent, which has opened this particular door for FSG. At Vasco da Gama, 777 bought 70 percent of the football club’s shares for £112 million in 2022, and also took control of the club’s debts – it was greeted warmly by many of their fans. However, a transfer ban, payment delays and a long list of other financial irregularities have ensured Vasco are ready for new ownership. The club, founded in 1898, is currently 13th in the Brazilian Serie A, and while their squad may be full of unknowns, they do have former West Ham man Dimitri Payet on their books. It is an intriguing link for the Liverpool owners, but if they sense they can capitalise and see plenty of upside, it would not be a surprise to see them start their multi-club model with Vasco. But only time will tell!

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs transfer target back on the market on a free soon?
Ex-Kaizer Chiefs transfer target back on the market soon? Kaizer Chiefs are expected to make some big changes on and off the field at the end of the season. Chiefs will be hoping to appoint a new coaching staff that can change the club’s fortunes going forward. That change of fortunes will require some freedom for the new coaching staff to dip into the market. This being in an effort to find some quality players that can come into the club and take the Chiefs brand back to where it belongs. It is no secret that Amakhosi have had a large turnover of players over the last two pre-season transfer windows. Neither have been a success, unfortunately.  Chiefs past two windows Ahead of the 2022/23 season, Chiefs signed Ashley du Preez, Zitha Kwinika, George Matlou, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, Yusuf Maart, Siyethemba Sithebe and Dillan Solomons. Then as the season progressed they added Edmilson Dove, Caleb Bimenyimana and Christian Saile. Out of those 10 players, two have been released by the club already, while at least five have been linked with an exit. At the start of the current season, Chiefs revamped their playing squad, making nine signings. These included Thathoyaone Dithlokwe, Given Msimango, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Pule Mmodi, Ranga Chivaviro, Edson Castillo and Potsane. Then, with the season already under way, Chiefs added Jasond Gonzales and Sibongiseni Mthethwa. In October, they added a 10th signing, the late centre back Luke Fleurs. The former SA U23 star joined Amakhosi on a red transfer from SuperSport United.  One reported transfer target they didn’t sign is former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Haashim Domingo! Now according Soccer-Laduma he could soon reach a settlement and part ways as a free agent with Raja Casablanca. Domingo a potential option again? “According to Siya sources, Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca could soon reach a settlement agreement with midfielder Haashim Domingo. Should this potential agreement be confirmed, Domingo would then become a free agent and be in a position to join a club of his choice from July 1.” Wrote the publication. This comes after Raja Casablanca failed to pay Domingo’s signing-on fee, having only joined them at the start of the season. Chiefs were believed to have been offered his services before he went to Morocco. Should they pounce at a potential second chance to get?

Kompany praises Bafana star Foster for bravery over mental health
Kompany praises Bafana star Foster for bravery over mental health
Last year, Burnley formally announced the signing of Bafana Bafana’s Lyle Foster from Belgian side K.V.C. Westerlo. The young striker penned a four-and-a-half-year deal at Turf Moor just as the English club duly secured Premier League promotion. Foster is working towards leaving a legacy overseas that’s worthy of his valuation as South Africa’s most expensive player, but he has also notably been very honest about his mental health battles and how he has struggled with depression in the past. “I had severe depression and anxiety and it was very difficult to cope with where I was at with performing, with all of these things and focusing on my reality,” Foster shared in an interview on Marawa Sports Worldwide last year. “I was in my apartment by myself. I realised I felt this huge sense of loneliness and emptiness, like I was chasing towards something that I didn’t know if it was for me. I felt I couldn’t freely express myself around my teammates. It was a lot more difficult to do things footballers are supposed to do. “I used to try to go to training, play games, but honestly the best thing to do at that time in my life was to get back home and sleep. It was like no real excitement or looking forward to anything. That’s when I realised I’m in a bit of a pickle here, in some trouble. And of course I panicked a bit. I didn’t know what was going on and how to deal with it because it was the first time I was in a position like that.” Lyle Foster has has expressed gratitude to his support network During this past season, Foster again took time away from the game to prioritise his mental health, and he has been fully supported by the Burnley club. Burnley head coach Vincent Kompany has now expressed how important it was for this topic to be openly addressed. “I think Lyle did something very powerful by actually speaking up about it himself, and allowing us to speak about it,” Kompany told Premier League Inside Matters. “How he processed his situation was very, very mature for a young individual in the end. I think we’ve all learned through experiencing this with him you know… Lyle has been massive in helping us to understand how to best support players that are facing the situation.” Back in the Bafana mix Foster, 23, has just been named in the Bafana Bafana preliminary squad ahead of the Nigeria and Zimbabwe 2026  World Cup qualifiers. Provisional squad Goalkeepers: Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns) Bruce Bvuma (Kaizer Chiefs) Ricardo Goss (SuperSport United) Veli Mothwa (AmaZulu) Defenders: Nyiko Mobbie (Sekhukhune United) Thabiso Monyane (Orlando Pirates) Thapelo Morena (Mamelodi Sundowns) Innocent Maela (Orlando Pirates) Nkosinathi Sibisi (Orlando Pirates) Aubrey Modiba (Mamelodi Sundowns) Given Msimango (Kaizer Chiefs) Mothobi Mvala (Mamelodi Sundowns) Tapelo Xoki (Orlando Pirates) Khuliso Mudau (Mamelodi Sundowns) Terrence Mashego (Mamelodi Sundowns) Thabo Moloisane (Stellenbosch FC) Siyabonga Ngezana (FCSB, Romania) Grant Kekana (Mamelodi Sundowns) Midfielders: Teboho Mokoena (Mamelodi Sundowns) Grant Margeman (SuperSport United) Jayden Adams (Stellenbosch FC) Bathusi Aubaas (Mamelodi Sundowns) Sphephelo Sithole (Tondela, Portugal) Forwards: Themba Zwane (Mamelodi Sundowns) Devin Titus (Stellenbosch FC) Oswin Appollis (Polokwane City) Patrick Maswanganyi (Orlando Pirates) Mlondi Mbanjwa (AmaZulu) Iqraam Rayners (Stellenbosch FC) Tshepang Moremi (AmaZulu) Elias Mokwana (Sekhukhune United) Lyle Foster (Burnley, England) Evidence Makgopa (Orlando Pirates) Percy Tau (Al Ahly, Egypt) Relebohile Mofokeng (Orlando Pirates) Mihlali Mayambela (Aris Limassol, Cyprus)

Kompany lauds mature Foster for facing mental health issues
‘I think Lyle did something very powerful by actually speaking up about it himself, and allowing us to speak about it,’ Kompany told Premier League Inside Matters. Burnley head coach Vincent Kompany has backed Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster for having the courage to speak about his mental health issues. Foster was given time off by Burnley earlier this season to deal with problems with his mental health, and also missed out on playing in the Africa Cup of Nations finals with Bafana. Foster was included this week by Bafana head coach Hugo Broos in his 36-man preliminary squad for next month’s Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe. “I think Lyle did something very powerful by actually speaking up about it himself, and allowing us to speak about it,” Kompany told Premier League Inside Matters. “How he processed his situation was very, very mature for a young individual in the end. I think we’ve all learned through experiencing this with him. Both the problem and the solution “The difficulty with football is that so often it’s the problem and … it’s the solution, so these players will be confronted with different states of mind because of the pressure of the job, because of the pressure of being a footballer and what it means. “Sometimes it’s not even towards the fans, it could be family, it could be your country, it could be your background, it could be your social media. “So (it’s) the stress of the job and the demand of the performances as well. But at the same time, it’s what they love doing, to create this environment where these players actually see football as their happy place, the solution, and take them away from what they see as a dark place. It’s been for me a learning curve for me this year. “Lyle has been massive in helping us to understand how to best support players that are facing the situation.”

Scott McTominay makes 250th appearance for Manchester United against Newcastle United Man United News And Transfer News
1 Scott McTominay made his 250th senior appearance for Manchester United in their crucial 3-2 win over Newcastle United last night. It could have been a very different story had the Scottish international been sold in the summer as West Ham United eyed up a move for the 27 year old. However, no move came to pass and he stayed at the club. The youngster was given his debut by Jose Mourinho in 2017 and he has recently spoken out on how important the Portuguese coach was in his early development at Old Trafford. The Scotland international has been heavily criticised during his time at the club and many feel he does not have the required skills to be a Manchester United midfielder. However, he has enjoyed the most productive season of his career in front of goal, scoring 10 goals in all competitions this season. Only Bruno Fernandes and Rasmus Hojlund have scored more for the Red Devils in this campaign. McTominay has reinvented himself as a goal poacher for club and country and seems to have a knack for scoring crucial late goals as he has already done against Brentford and Aston Villa this season. The midfielder now finds himself 57th on the all-time appearance chart for the Red Devils and he is now only handful of games behind legends such as Edwin van der Sar and Andy Cole. Despite the strong season the player has enjoyed, his future is far from safe at Old Trafford. New owners INEOS are determined to revolutionise the squad and with strict PSR financial rules in place, McTominay could be a valuable piece to sell as he is from the academy, so any transfer would result in pure profit. Moreover, he is one of the few United players this campaign who has probably increased his market value. However, he may want to stay and if he accepts he is primarily a goal-scoring option off the bench, then he may be able to forge out an even longer career at Old Trafford into his thirties and push his way into the 300s for the club. 2⃣5⃣0⃣ up for @McTominay10 Scott is set to reach a special landmark this evening #MUFC || #MUNNEW pic.twitter.com/QvYKvJKIb5 — Manchester United (@ManUtd) May 15, 2024 Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Premier League clubs to vote on scrapping VAR from next season Liverpool FC
Premier League clubs to vote on scrapping VAR from next season Liverpool FC
Wolves are campaigning to get VAR scrapped from the Premier League next season. The Molineux club have been on the end of several controversial refereeing decisions this season and believe the decision review system is “undermining the value of the Premier League brand.” They have submitted a resolution to trigger a vote at the league’s AGM in June and will need 13 of the other 19 clubs to agree with them. They are likely to canvas other clubs in order to gain support between now and next month’s meeting. The Premier League does not believe scrapping VAR is the right way forward. Wolves said in a statement: “The introduction of VAR in 2019/20 was a decision made in good faith and with the best interests of football and the Premier League at its heart. “However, it has led to numerous unintended negative consequences that are damaging the relationship between fans and football, and undermining the value of the Premier League brand. “The decision to table the resolution has come after careful consideration and with the utmost respect for the Premier League, PGMOL and our fellow competitors. “There is no blame to be placed – we are all just looking for the best possible outcome for football – and all stakeholders have been working hard to try and make the introduction of additional technology a success. “However, after five seasons of VAR in the Premier League it is time for a constructive and critical debate on its future. “Our position is that the price we are paying for a small increase in accuracy is at odds with the spirit of our game, and as a result we should remove it from the 2024/25 season onwards.” Wolves have felt hard done by over a raft of decisions throughout the season, with boss Gary O’Neil regularly receiving apologetic phone calls from Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) chief Howard Webb. They feel particular areas of concern are the impact on goal celebrations, the length of VAR checks and lack of communication in the stadium, a change from its original purpose of correcting clear and obvious errors and an erosion of the on-field referee’s authority due to their reliance on VAR. A Premier League spokesperson said: “The Premier League can confirm it will facilitate a discussion on VAR with our clubs at the Annual General Meeting next month. “Clubs are entitled to put forward proposals at shareholders’ meetings and we acknowledge the concerns and issues around the use of VAR. “However, the League fully supports the use of VAR and remains committed, alongside PGMOL, to make continued improvements to the system for the benefit of the game and fans.” The Premier League, who is in regular dialogue with the PGMOL, believes the number of incorrect decisions would increase without VAR which could impact the league’s reputation even further. However, Wolves‘ move was welcomed by former Manchester United and Republic of Ireland skipper Roy Keane, who said it might actually help referees. Speaking in his role as a Sky Sports pundit, Keane said: “The officials are going to be criticised, of course, but listen, they have a really tough job. “VAR was maybe supposed to help them but I don’t think it has helped them. I think there’s more self-doubt for the officials than anything else. Yes, referees can have a hard time but maybe this might make their lives a little bit easier.” ? Wolves have submitted a resolution to the Premier League calling for the abandonment of VAR from next season. Big exclusive from @David_Ornstein. A vote will take on June 6 and needs a two-thirds majority to pass. Wolves statement says “the price we are paying for a small… pic.twitter.com/YaCfpuVaG5 — Ben Jacobs (@JacobsBen) May 15, 2024 Fellow pundit Wayne Rooney was equally supportive, saying: “I’ve been vocal on VAR – I don’t like it. If it’s there and you get all the decisions right, then fair enough, but it’s taking all the enjoyment out of the game. “We’re still getting human error with VAR, so if we’re going to still get that, let them just do it on the pitch because otherwise it’s just slowing everything down. It’s taking minutes and minutes to get to the decision, which is still a human being making the final decision.” Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon was scathing of VAR after his penalty appeals were ignored in his side’s 3-2 defeat at Manchester United on Wednesday night. With Newcastle trailing 1-0, Gordon appeared to be pushed in the back by Sofyan Amrabat and was left with a torn sock before Casemiro swooped in and cleared, with referee Robert Jones and VAR Jarred Gillett deciding not to intervene. “I don’t understand what the point of VAR is then” ? Anthony Gordon vents over VAR and it’s decision to not give Newcastle a penalty ? pic.twitter.com/al4CCooNds — Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) May 15, 2024 Gordon told Sky Sports: “I’m quite fond of the idea (of VAR), it should be a thing that works in the league but it’s not. There’s constantly too many mistakes. “It’s a clear, clear and obvious mistake. I don’t know how you can get it wrong, so either get rid of it or get better. It’s very simple. I honestly don’t see the point in it. I really don’t.” Newcastle boss Eddie Howe would back a repeal of VAR, telling Sky: “I’ve always been in era where the referee makes the decision and I’d still back that, even if it means we don’t get penalties like today. I think there are more positives than negatives. “I’d possibly keep it for offsides but I’d like more power with the referees.”

They could face competition, however.  Return for Dortley? “Defender Rushwin Dortley is another player who looks set to make an exit at the end of the campaign, with interest coming in from a couple of clubs. Kaizer Chiefs have previously shown an interest while Spurs were campaigning in the second tier. The Soweto giants could look at trying to bring him on board now that the Cape club is going down. Cape Town City, meanwhile, are believed to be monitoring the player as they look for a longterm replacement for veteran defender Marc Van Heerden.” Wrote the the publication. There is still uncertainty over the Chiefs’ first choice left-back in Sifiso Hlanti’s future. This could see the club try to get a bargain deal for Dortley since Spurs have been relegated.

Jurgen Klopps final Liverpool game vs. Wolves WILL be shown live in UK Liverpool FC
Jurgen Klopp‘s final game in charge will be shown live in the UK after final TV selections were made just days out from the clash. And then there was one. Not for the first time, Liverpool host Wolves in the final game of the season – though this time it holds a different significance. Emotions will be high as Klopp bids farewell to Anfield on the weekend, and the Sky Sports cameras will be there to document the occasion. There had been some doubts if the Reds would be selected, but they join Man City, who meet West Ham, and Chelsea, who host Bournemouth, in Sky’s three live spots. Arsenal‘s meeting with Everton, meanwhile, is to be broadcast by TNT Sports. Every game kicks off on Sunday at 4pm (BST), and with relegation and the top four places all but confirmed, Liverpool’s fixture was the obvious choice for Sky. It means Klopp’s final game at the helm will be broadcast live in the UK, and fans can tune into Sky Sports Premier League from 3pm (BST). But the match will not be the only tribute on the channel, with ‘Klopp: He Made The People Happy’ following immediately after the game, with players and supporters sending in their messages for Klopp. It promises to be quite the day as Liverpool bid farewell to an irreplaceable manager who has lifted seven major trophies in eight-and-a-half-years at the club. Tears will be flowing in the stands and on the pitch, and let’s hope the team give Klopp one final reason to celebrate – though we’re sure the fist pumps will make one final appearance irrespective of the result!

Sofyan Amrabat claims Manchester United have not seen him at his best Man United News And Transfer News
1 Sofyan Amrabat has claimed that he will always give 100% for Manchester United and stressed that fans of the club have not seen him at his best due to his sporadic game time. The Moroccan arrived to much fanfare on deadline day last summer but he has failed miserably to live up to expectations. He has barely played in the second half of the season, mostly only making short cameos off the bench since returning from the African Cup of Nations in February. However, due to Casemiro having to fill in at centre back, he has been given the opportunity to play in midfield against both Arsenal and Newcastle and he has impressed when given the chance with his tireless energy. He played 87 minutes against the Gunners at the weekend and the full match last night. One of the most important moments in the game and probably Amrabat’s season was when he chased back alone against three Newcastle attackers and miraculously blocked Alexander Isak’s goal-bound effort. The intervention came at a crucial point as the Magpies had just equalised and would have gone 2-1 up in the match at that point. Speaking to MUTV after the game about fighting to return to the team, Amrabat said: “It was not easy, of course, because everybody wants to play.” “I had to be patient, but I was always ready for the team. when they need me, where they need me, even it was one minute or 10 minutes. I always give my best, in training, I try to help the team.” Amrabat clearly expressed some regret over his time at United by claiming, “I think there’s only one thing that you can do; work hard and wait till the chance will come. [It’s] maybe a bit late, end of the season, but I’m happy that the chance came and that we won today.” “It’s also nice to show yourself, but it’s still not Sofyan Amrabat on the top, how I can play. It’s my second game now in four, five months that I played 90 minutes, so I’m not 100 per cent as normal.” “But I’m very happy that I showed that I played good, and the team played good, and we wanted to win this game”. It seems like it is too little too late for the Morocco star but as it appears the decision not to keep the player beyond his loan deal was made a long time ago. However, if he can play a crucial role in guaranteeing some sort of European football next season and win the FA Cup, he can perhaps look back at his time in Manchester in some sort of positive light. Kaizer Chiefs to replace three players
Kaizer Chiefs to replace three players
The DStv Premiership is set for the penultimate fixtures this weekend. Kaizer Chiefs will be home to Polokwane City, and coach Cavin Johnson has to replace three players. DSTV PREMIERSHIP: KAIZER CHIEFS VS POLOKWANE CITY Losses of discipline on the football pitch have consequences. Amakhosi will face Rise and Shine with three players unavailable due to suspension. Pule Mmodi accumulated his third yellow card against AmaZulu last Sunday. Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen and left defender Edmilson Dove earned respective red cards in Polokwane against TS Galaxy a fortnight ago. EXPECTED REPLACEMENTS Kaizer Chiefs coach is expected to replace Petersen with Itumeleng Khune, Dove with Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Mmodi with Donay Jansen. KAIZER CHIEFS COACH NAMES TWO MAMELODI SUNDOWNS PLAYERS FOR PLAYER OF THE SEASON Facing the media after Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 draw against AmaZulu last week, coach Johnson was asked to name the best candidates. The Johannesburg-born coach believes Sundowns’ midfield general Teboho Mokoena and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams have been outstanding. “The number one that comes to mind is Teboho Mokoena,” the Kaizer Chiefs coach said as quoted by iDiski Times. “And the other one is Ronwen Williams. They’ve taken the African Football League, they came [third] in CAF and they’ve done very, very well,” Johnson concluded. RULANI MOKWENA’S PICKS Chatting to the media last month, Sundowns coach Mokwena also picked Williams, as well as Orlando Pirates’ Patrick Maswanganyi, as well as Mokoena and Mosa Lebusa. “It is a difficult one because I think there has been an unorthodox front runner and that’s Ronwen Williams and it is unorthodox because we normally don’t consider goalkeepers to receive such awards,” Mokwena said via Sowetan. “I’m talking about football culture worldwide. That’s why they started creating individual awards like the Golden Gloves awards for goalkeepers, because honestly, it’s an award that very seldom goes to the goalkeeper. Mokwena added to say that Williams’ goalkeeping is as excellent as his ability on the ball. “When I look at Ronwen’s contribution this season to Sundowns, not only to goalkeeping but also to in-field play. In possessions, the way he tries to do things and from the level of consistency he has been head and shoulders above the rest. The Sundowns tactician said Maswanganyi also deserves a look-in. “But there have been very good individual performances, a player like Patrick Maswanganyi deserves special mention because I have been watching and he is picking up towards the end of the season. “I think Teboho Mokoena has been good once again. He is at a very good level. I think Mosa Lebusa has been excellent, this is my opinion.  “He has been having an incredible season and some of the players that went to Bafana Bafana even before they went to Afcon, were excellent. “If I was a judge, I would be biased and it would go to Sundowns player no doubt about that,” Mokwena concluded. Do you agree with Kaizer Chiefs coach Johnson and Mokwena? Let us know in the comments section below.

Bad news for Pirates: Chiefs still alive in top target chase! Sundowns lurk
Bad news for Pirates: Chiefs still alive in top target chase! Sundowns lurk
Orlando Pirates had reportedly beaten Kaizer Chiefs to one of their transfer targets ahead of next season.  Chiefs and Pirates were both thought to have shown interest in SuperSport United defender Kegan Johannes.  Looking to buy a good quality pre-owned vehicle, click here! This publication reported that it was Chiefs who first put their hand up, showing interest in Johannes. It was not too long then when reports would emerge that Pirates too, were hot on heels. Then in what seemed like an anti-climax, it was then reported that the player would be moving to neither, and had signed a contract renewal at SuperSport.  But then last week, it was reported that Johannes had snubbed Chiefs and was set to move to Pirates. Hunt, however, was quick to dismiss those rumours as reported by this publication on Saturday.  That narrative seems to have taken yet another twist, however! According to Soccer-Laduma there is no done deal and Chiefs, as well as Mamelodi Sundowns are still alive!  Chiefs and Sundowns ready to spoil Pirates party! “It is definitely not a done deal as it is being claimed (Johannes to Pirates). The club (SuperSport) has interest from the other two big teams (Chiefs and Sundowns) as well and it is now about how to best do a sale that could also help SuperSport get a few players in exchange” said a source to the publication.  Johannes is a versatile player, who has operated mainly as a right-back despite favouring centre-back. It would be an interesting move for Pirates who signed Thabiso Lebitso on a free transfer from Chippa United in January. He was brought in to challenge Bandile Shandu and Thabiso Monyane for the right back berth. Now, Johannes potentially joining the Buccaneers next season makes sense, when you reports keep surfacing, of Shandu’s potential departure.  Which would be the best destination for Johannes? Chiefs seem to be covered at right-back with the likes of Reeve Frosler, Dillan Solomons and Zitha Kwinika. Sundowns have Khuliso Mudau and Zukho Mdunyelwa and Thapelo Morena. This would make a move to Pirates more plausible for Johannes.

Elyh Harrison picks up the Denzil Haroun Reserve Team Player of the Year award Man United News And Transfer News
2 Manchester United goalkeeper Elyh Harrison has been named the Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year for 2023/24. The youngster was awarded the trophy before United’s crucial 3-2 home win over Newcastle United last night. Our #MUAcademy Players of the Year #MUFC || @PLYouth pic.twitter.com/BgU8q9A5Nq — Manchester United (@ManUtd) May 15, 2024 The 18 year old has been a key component of the highly successful Manchester United under 18 team, who won the treble. He made 27 appearances in an array of competitions, showing off his sizeable talent between the sticks. He was a vital cog in the under 18s Premier League North and Premier League Cup successes but also forced his way into Travis Binnion’s Under-21s side and gained crucial experience of Premier League 2 football. The highlight of his campaign was his outstanding performance “in the cup final against Manchester City at Leigh Sports Village last month, making a string of top-class saves in the 2-1 triumph.” He followed this up with more vital interventions in the 2-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge when United were crowned the Under 18 National champions. The youngster joined the club from Stevenage in 2022 and he has made massive progress to date. “Harrison is only the second keeper to win the award since it was introduced in 1990. Kevin Pilkington, part of the Class of ’92 FA Youth Cup-winning side, lifted the trophy at the end of the 1994/95 season. Elyh is also the most youthful winner since Adnan Januzaj, who was a couple of weeks younger, in 2013.” Director of the Academy Nick Cox praised Harrison and claimed, “Elyh has equipped himself brilliantly throughout the season, consistently performing for our Under-18s, Under-21s and often training with the first team.” “This variety of experiences will stand him in great stead as he continues his development as a really exciting young goalkeeper. Winning this prestigious award at only 18 years of age is really impressive and shows just how mature Elyh is.” “He is a credit to both Tommy Lee, Lead Academy Goalkeeper Coach, and Kevin Wolfe, Academy Goalkeeping coach, who have worked really closely with Elyh.” The youngster will be aiming to consolidate a loan move away from Old Trafford next season to get a taste of senior football. Moreover, he will probably aim to have a spot on the plane for the senior squad’s July tour of the United States later in the summer. 5 Teams queue to sign player as Orlando Pirates exit draws near!
Orlando Pirates are already planning for the next season, with both incomings and outgoings in focus. Pirates made a number of signings during the off-season, as well as the January transfer window. They signed  Melusi Buthelezi from TS Galaxy, Siphelo Baloni from All Stars FC and Katlego Otladisa from Marumo Gallants. They were joined by Karim Kimvuidi, Lesedi Kapinga and Patrick Maswanganyi. Then, in January, Pirates added the duo of Thabiso Lebitso and Thalenthe Mbatha. In January, stalwart Thembinkosi Lorch and Bienvenu Eva Nga both left the club for Mamelodi Sundowns and Chippa United respectfully.  Those players are expected to be followed out of the exit door by a few more, in the coming window. The likes of Zakhele Lepasa, Souaibou Marou, Sandile Mthethwa, among those touted for an exit. Another name that could enter that list soon is goalkeeper Richard Ofori. It has also since emerged that Thabang Monare could be exiting the club. Monare to leave Pirates Two weeks ago it was reported by this publication that it was becoming ever so likely Monare will leave Pirates. Now the veteran star may have all but confirmed that, as eagled eye supporters have noticed something strange. It is believed that he has removed all pictures associating himself with the Buccaneers on his Instagram profile. That could be a clear sign that negotiations did not go well and he is on his way out of the club. Last month, this publication reported thatMonare could be of interest to SuperSport United. It is believed that is former coach at Bidvest Wits wants to reunite with he veteran midfielder. Last week we reported that Stellenbosch FC might also be interested in his services. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, three more clubs have shown an interest in taking Monare from Pirates! Magesi, Cape Town City and AmaZulu join the party? “Soccer Laduma has been led to believe rookies Magesi FC would be keen to bring him on board, while he has also been offered to topWight Premier Soccer League clubs. Among those on the list include Cape Town City and SuperSport AmaZulu as United well. But it will all depend on the offer put on the table for Monare midfield to make star Teboho up his mind as a free agent.” Wrote the publication.  One thing seems certain and that’s Monare will leave Pirates at the end of the season.

More interest from Europe and MLS for Orlando Pirates star!
More interest from Europe and MLS for Orlando Pirates star!
Orlando Pirates players keep attracting interest from Europe and yet another one of their stars is being tracked! In fact, it is not the first time that Pirates’ Relebohile Mofokeng has been the subject of interest from abroad. Looking to buy a good quality pre-owned vehicle, click here! Earlier in the season, Pirates announced that Mofokeng had travelled to English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers for assessments. He then made his way back to South Africa, with word that he left a good impression in the English Midlands. This was the first formal bit of overseas interest in a player who was also thought to have impressed Spanish LaLiga sides. There is still no word yet, however, on whether the tricky winger will go back to England for another assessment or to sign a deal.  Overseas interest mounting for Mofokeng He has seen his game continue to grow in leaps and bounds, after solidifying his place in the Pirates line-up. That has since seen him inline for a return to the U.K. This time with Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers thought to be interested in Mofokeng.  Mofokeng has not just attracted advances from Rangers, however, with Glasgow Times reporting on further interest. It’s believed that African giants Al Ahly and Serbian giants Red Bulls Salzburg are tracking the Pirates teenager. That does not seem to be all, however. Now reports coming from Soccer-Laduma suggest more from Europe and the MLS in Mofokeng. Can Pirates keep him? Azerbaijan and MLS clubs to tempt Pirates? “Well-placed Siya Sources have indicated ‘top ranking’ clubs from Azerbaijan and MLS have been sniffing around the Vaal-born star (Mofokeng). This with a view of making a move for him at the end of the current season. The Siya crew understands that neither of the clubs have made an official approach to the Buccaneers (Pirates), but have put out feelers as to whether he would be available or not.” Wrote the publication.  If he is to leave Pirates next season, Mofokeng will hope to do so having won the Nedbank Cup final. They will take on league champions Mamelodi Sundowns on the 1st of June in Mbombela.

R30 million Orlando Pirates target dreams of Kaizer Chiefs move!
Kaizer Chiefs have endured a few rough seasons, but still seem to be an attractive proposition to many. Whether it be for players and coaches, the Chiefs brand seems like it will always hold a level of prestige.  Chiefs are set to undergo yet another transfer window of change at the end of the current campaign. It is expected that the club will hire a coach who’ll then be entrusted to bring his own technical team. That technical team will be given an opportunity to bring players who can help turn around the fortunes of the club.  It remains to be seen what type of budget the new coach will be given at Chiefs. But one player the club seems to have already given up on is Stanley Nwabali. They are believed to have bulked out of a potential transfer after finding out about the players reported R30 million price tag.  Chiefs move a boyhood dream for Nwabali Now according to SABC Sport, Chiefs had a real chance of beating rivals Orlando Pirates to Nwabali. This is because the player reportedly sees a move to Amakhosi as his boyhood dream! ”Like I said  to you, between you and me his childhood dream was to always play for Kaizer Chiefs. But even me, my childhood dream was to play for Kaizer Chiefs, I don’t blame him. In the beginning of this season he wanted to play for them, but I said to him before you speak to Kaizer Chiefs, first go to Afcon because you will win the Afcon and you will be so much more worth than at Kaizer Chiefs with all due respect,” said Chippa United goalkeeper coach Sean Louw. Pirates still trying to sign him? Although Chiefs are reportedly looking at alternatives now, it is believed Pirates are still in the picture for Nwabali. The Buccaneers are thought to be ready to get rid of Richard Ofori and Siyabonga Mpontshane in a goalkeeping revamp.

Marcus Rashford makes 400th senior appearance for Manchester United against Newcastle United Man United News And Transfer News
1 Marcus Rashford came off the bench last night to make his 400th appearance for Manchester United. The 26 year old has probably endured the hardest season of his professional career. A series of off and on the field problems have resulted in last season’s Player of the Year scoring only eight goals in all competitions. Rashford has been heavily critiqued for his alleged lack of effort on the pitch as well as his poor decision making in the final third, which contrasts sharply with the wonderfully decisive player he was in Erik ten Hag’s first season, scoring 30 in all competitions. Rashford has also had his fair share of problems off the field with a drinking binge in Belfast and even yesterday during the warm up he had to be pulled away by his teammates after reacting to something that was said to him in the crowd. Nonetheless, to reach 400 games for your boyhood club is something to be cherished and respected. The academy graduate is now in the top 20 all-time appearance makers for the club and at 26 years old is in a strong position to climb much further up the list. He has already played more games than legends such as Denis Law, David Beckham or Peter Schmeichel. Rashford will also have two authentic legends of the game in his sights next season as he is only 15 matches behind Bryan Robson and 18 short of George Best’s record. He still has some work to do however to catch Ryan Giggs at the top of the list who played a scarcely believable 961 matches for the Red Devils. The England striker has also scored 131 senior goals for the club, putting him 12th on the all-time list. Once again he will have illustrious names like Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooy in his sights as he needs 20 goals to overtake their records. Rashford’s poor form has seen him linked away from the club, but latest reports seem to suggest he will stay at Old Trafford and one of the most vital things INEOS, a new coach or Erik ten Hag (should he stay) need to do is find a way to get him back to doing what he did so effectively during the 2022/2023 campaign. Meanwhile, Rashford will hope to mirror his Wembley heroics of last season and score a goal in the FA Cup final against Manchester City in nine days’ time – this time, a winning one. City will host the Natal Rich Boyz at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday. Cape Town City chairman John Comitis has announced that there will be free entry for the fans for the final home game against Richards Bay FC. ALSO READ: On-loan Spurs duo set to return to Pirates and Sundowns The Citizens will host the Natal Rich Boyz at the Cape Town Stadium for the penultimate match of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season on Saturday at 3pm. City have been going through a rough patch this year and have only one game in 13 matches across all competitions and as a consequence of the poor run in 2024, Comitis has announced that tickets for Saturday’s clash will be funded by the players. Watch Comitis’ video below “Hi Citizens, I want to take this opportunity to thank all the fans out there for having supported this club for the years that have gone by, but especially the season despite the situation we find ourselves in today,” said Comitis in a video message. “We turned the corner in 2023 as number two on the log, thinking that we’re going to have a strong finish into the end of the season, and disappointingly, we’ve gone almost completely without a win, one win in 11 [league] games. That’s not acceptable by any standards of this club. The fans need to be applauded for continuing to support this club despite this poor form.” Comitis added that as a token of appreciation for the fans’ support despite the club’s poor form in 2024, the players have decided to fund their tickets for the game against Richards Bay. “Everybody is under pressure here, I can assure you. But the most important thing is that we’ve had a meeting with the players. And as a token of appreciation to the fans for their ongoing support, the players have decided to fund your tickets effectively. “So our home game, our last home game, is completely free. It’s a thank you in a token of appreciation to our loyal fans. And that means that you need to go get your ticket from TicketPro online, or either at the office at Green Marketplace. There’s going to be limited tickets available.” “We’d like you to still support us in the last game. Hopefully we have a strong finish and we finish in the top four or five, but not the best of our seasons. But I can promise you, a lot of things are getting planned for the new season and hopefully we’ll see you at the game against Richards Bay,” concluded Comitis.

Who is Kaizer Chiefs youngest ever player? Where is he now?
It is a tradition at Kaizer Chiefs to promote players while they’re still young, if of course they’re good enough.  In fact, you don’t even have to be from the Chiefs academy to be backed as a youngster at the club.  Looking to buy a good quality pre-owned vehicle, click here! There has been a long list of Chiefs development players who have eventually become first-team members. Looking at the current squad, you can go back as far as veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune. The former Bafana Bafana number one was promoted to the first team all of 20 years ago now. Defender Zitha Kwinika was promoted as Macheke in 2015, before going off to enjoy first-team football elsewhere. After spells at Chippa United, Bidvest Wits and Stellenbosch FC, he returned home ahead of the 2022/23 season.  Duba, Mduduzi Shabalala, Samkelo Zwane and Mfundo Vilakazi. Chiefs recently announced a new four-year senior deal for Vilakazi, who is now making more appearances from the bench. Duba, who also had his moments earlier this year, is believed to be next to have his senior contract signed. But just before the above batch, there was a starlet, banging in the goals effortlessly, week in, week out in the DDC. He did so so much that then Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp simply could not ignore him anymore. The player in question is striker Keletso Sifama! Sifama the youngest player to play Sifama made his Chiefs senior debut as a 17-year-old back in August 2020. In doing so, he eclipsed former record holder Wiseman Meyiwa. The player would get a handful of opportunities under Gavin Hunt at the club, the next season. He would then get loaned out for a couple of seasons before being released. Luckily for Sifama, he was able to bounce as back into the topflight and you can see him in action. He now plays for Sekhukhune United, having left Chiefs.

1 Manchester United youngster Ethan Wheatley has been named the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year. He was presented with the honour before United’s crucial home game versus Newcastle United yesterday. Our #MUAcademy Players of the Year #MUFC || @PLYouth pic.twitter.com/BgU8q9A5Nq — Manchester United (@ManUtd) May 15, 2024 The 18 year old has had an outstanding season, playing a key role for the all-conquering under 18 team who completed the treble with a 2-1 win at Chelsea earlier this week. Wheatley was outstanding in the match scoring United’s first but also had numerous other chances. The exciting young forward also scored twice in the Premier League Cup final against Manchester City. In total he has scored 14 goals in all competitions and he made history by becoming the 250th United academy graduate to make his debut for the senior squad. This honour came in the dying embers of the 4-2 home win versus Sheffield United last month. All in all, the Stockport native has made three appearances off the bench for the senior side. The England under 17 international has also joined illustrious company by winning the award, including Kobbie Mainoo last year, whose meteoric rise to the first team was underlined with a crucial opening goal yesterday. Other notable past recipients of the highly sought-after award include Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho. The Director of the Academy Nick Cox said, “Ethan really deserves this award, having represented the club to the highest standard across six different competitions this season. He has excelled at everything that he has been asked to do, both on the pitch, scoring an impressive 14 goals, and off the pitch, within his personal development programme and strong educational achievements.” The youngster will be aiming for a loan next season with a series of Championship teams eyeing him up, according to reports. Whilst there is a lot to fix at United at the moment, young players being given a chance to shine is not one. This was highlighted with all three goalscorers being 21 years old or under last night. Wheatley will take a well-earned summer holiday and then come back looking to impress on the preseason training camp and will be eyeing up a tour to America with the senior team to show whoever the boss is, exactly what he can do. Fernandes will leave if he feels unwanted at Man Utd
‘If for some reason they don’t want me, then I will go,’; said the United captain. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes said he will stay at Old Trafford as long as he is wanted as speculation mounts over the Portuguese midfielder’s future. Fernandes, 29, has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent days with the Red Devils set to miss out on Champions League football next season. United may be forced to sell to provide the funds necessary for a major overhaul of the squad in the summer and remain compliant with Premier League financial sustainability rules. “I will be here till when the club wants me and the club wants me to be a part of the future,” said Fernandes, whose contract runs till 2026. “If for some reason they don’t want me, then I will go.” Fernandes played his part as United kept their hopes of European qualification via the Premier League alive with a 3-2 win over Newcastle on Wednesday. Erik ten Hag’s men still sit eighth in the table, but could climb above Newcastle into seventh if they better the Magpies’ result on the final day of the season. United visit Brighton on Sunday, while Newcastle travel to Brentford. “It has been a tough season. The table shows that and we are all aware of that,” added Fernandes. “The fans have been amazing for us and we had to do something. “We have been trying but results don’t show that. We have been working hard and everyone has been giving their best it is not enough and we have to do more.” A second chance Even if United fail to finish in the top seven for the first time in the Premier League era, they have a second chance at qualifying for Europe should they shock Manchester City in the FA Cup final on May 25. Under-fire manager Ten Hag badly needs a second trophy in his two years in charge to dispell doubts over his future heading into next season. The Dutchman took the mic at full-time after United’s last home game of the season to thank the fans for their support despite a difficult season. “As you know it wasn’t an easy season, but one thing remained constant and that was the backing of you for the team,” said Ten Hag. “This season is not over yet. First we go to Brighton where we travel for three points and then we go to Wembley. I promise you those players will give everything to get that cup and bring it to Old Trafford. “We are sure you will be there supporting us. Thank you, you are the best supporters in the world!” © Agence France-Presse

Manchester United pundits wax lyrical on young heroes Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United showed some much needed fight to secure a 3-2 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday night at Old Trafford. Goals from Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund were enough to secure the win and excite the Old Trafford crowd about the future. Defensive frailties were still very much on display but the performance will give fans a little bit of hope of getting a result at Brighton on Sunday which could see them secure European football if Newcastle drop points at Brentford. Speaking to Sky Sports, Manchester United legends Roy Keane, Wayne Rooney and Andy Cole waxed lyrical on the performances of two of the Red Devils’ youngsters. Commenting on Mainoo’s performance Rooney claimed, “he’s been fantastic, he’s played a lot of games, it’s not easy. He’s been called up for England. He’s had to take a lot on but over the last few months he’s been a mainstay and he has a real bright future. United fans should be really excited by him.” When asked whether Mainoo is a bright spark Roy Keane replied, “yeah I think so. It’s a difficult challenge for him but he’s added a few goals to his game. He has got to stay grounded and he’s still learning his trade.” The 19 year old has not hit the heights of winter but he has a habit of reminding fans exactly what he is capable of and a smart finish tonight did exactly that. Shortly after, Amad Diallo was the next United youngster to receive praise from the pundits. Commenting on the Ivorian’s stunning strike that gave United the lead for the second time in the match Rooney claimed, “a great strike. He couldn’t have hit that any better and he deserved it.” The all-time leading United goal scorer also praised Amad’s desire and bravery to get involved in the game. “He always wanted the ball, it’s very encouraging and he tried things.” “He’s done really well at Sunderland and I think he’s done well since he been in the team. There’s an opportunity for him to stake a claim in the team.” Andy Cole echoed Rooney’s statements and added, “he’s waited a long time and he’s done well to get his first goal in the Premier League.” United will now have the chance to earn a second consecutive league win when they travel to Brighton in the final game of the league season. Chelsea being rewarded for patience says Pochettino
Chelsea being rewarded for patience says Pochettino
Chelsea could even finish fifth if they beat Bournemouth and Tottenham lose at Sheffield United. Mauricio Pochettino said Chelsea‘s late surge to the verge of European qualification was just reward for the club’s patience during a difficult season. ALSO READ: Man City do feel the tension of title race, says Guardiola Pochettino’s side won 2-1 at Brighton on Wednesday to climb into sixth place in the Premier League with one game left. Cole Palmer put them in front when he headed his 22nd league goal of the season in the 34th minute. Christopher Nkunku’s 64th minute strike put Chelsea further ahead before Blues defender Reece James was sent off for kicking Brighton’s Joao Pedro. Danny Welbeck reduced the deficit in stoppage-time, but Chelsea held on to secure a fourth consecutive league victory for the first time since October 2022. With Newcastle losing 3-2 at Manchester United in Wednesday’s other game, Chelsea moved above the Magpies. The Blues will be guaranteed a place in next season’s Europa League if they avoid defeat against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, or if seventh-placed Newcastle fail to win at Brentford. Chelsea could even finish fifth if they beat Bournemouth and Tottenham lose at Sheffield United. It is an impressive recovery masterminded by Pochettino, who has faced criticism throughout his troubled first season in charge. Amid calls for his sacking, Pochettino even hinted recently that he could quit at the end of the season and said it wouldn’t be the end of the world if he was dismissed by chairman Todd Boehly. But the Argentine was in more buoyant mood after Chelsea closed in on Europe, praising the club’s hierarchy for sticking with their plan. – ‘It allows us to dream’ – “We have improved results and performances. We talked about patience and when you need to build something you need time but it always looks like an excuse at a big club,” he said. “The evolution of the team is there. We have kept working and being positive and to finish in a good way would be good for the club.” Despite spending over £1 billion ($1.2 billion) on new signings in their two-year reign, Boehly’s consortium has left Pochettino with a young squad, whose lack of experience has often been their downfall. But Pochettino said the win at Brighton showed they are fighting for the club. “The Premier League is the toughest league in the world. Massive credit to the players, we fully deserved the victory. That’s why I’m so happy. It allows us to dream to play in Europe next season,” Pochettino said. “The three points puts us in a very good position in the table to attack the last game against Bournemouth for the possibility to be in Europe.” Palmer has been the star turn for Chelsea this season following his surprise move from Manchester City in September. ALSO READ: Postecoglou ‘misread’ Spurs’ fans desperation to deny Arsenal title The young England forward’s latest goal was further repayment on Chelsea’s  shrewd £42 million investment after he was granted his wish to leave City in search of regular playing time. “Chelsea is a big club and everyone wants to finish higher than sixth but you have to look at where we were at the start of the season so to get back into Europe would be a step in the right direction,” Palmer said. “All credit to the manager. All the players love the manager and want to fight for him.”

Time to cash in? Kaizer Chiefs R40 million man wants out!-report
Time to cash in? Kaizer Chiefs R40 million man wants out!-report
Kaizer Chiefs may be about to be blindsided by a transfer request from one of their key players. Edson Castillo was reported to have been offered a contract extension at Chiefs after increasing interest in his services.  Castillo was Chiefs’ standout performer during the first half of the season, adjusting well to the local league. The Venezuelan joined Chiefs from Monagas SC and hit the ground running for Chiefs. The 29-year-old has been a mainstay in the club’s midfield, both in defence and attack. His box-to-box nature has seen him make some big tackles, telling passes and even arrive late to score himself. Castillo has already bagged five goals in all competitions for the club so far.  Castillo of interest to clubs outside the country His performances have caught more than just the eye of the South African football fraternity, with some continental rivals also rumoured to be interested in taking Castillo away from Chiefs. Earlier this year, this publication reported that Zamalek wanted the player. It was then established that Amakhosi wanted a whopping R40 million for him. This publication recently revealed that Chiefs were willing to sell Castillo to Zamalek for R30 million now. Zamalek are now facing a transfer ban, which has put that move in jeopardy. According to KickOff.com, however, that does not mean the player isn’t looking for a move elsewhere, still! Ready to force a move away from Chiefs? “I have been told by those close to the dealings that possibilities are being pursued even though he still has a running contract at Chiefs. Castillo is a South American and you should know their mentality when they are unhappy. Once things are not going their way or there is a possibility of better money or bigger opportunity, they don’t hesitate to find ways of making it happen. If it means forcing it, so be it. Chiefs will get to feel it once there is an opportunity on the table for Castillo because the feeling is that he didn’t come to Chiefs to sit on the bench.” Said a source to the publication.  Is it best for Chiefs to cash in on Castillo at 29, without about R40 million to gain?

Al Ahly make HUGE Percy Tau transfer decision!
Al Ahly make HUGE Percy Tau transfer decision!
There seems to be more and more uncertainty with regards to Percy Tau’s Al Ahly future.  Every week or month there seems to be a twist in Tau’s negotiations for a contract extension at Al Ahly.  The Bafana Bafana international was in scintillating form for Al Ahly prior to the 2023 Afcon in Ivory Coast. He ended the 2022/23 season with 17 goal contributions in 42 games. That saw his name linked with overseas interest once again. A promising start to the season saw Tau get six goals but he seems to have stagnated on them, with no assists. His form from the previous seemed to be the driving point for contract extension talks. This new contract was set to make Tau the most paid player on the African continent. According to Egyptian reports, it would’ve been a three-year deal. That would’ve have seen the 29-year-old earning R23 million annually. It would then increase by R1.9 million in the first year, R2.8 million in the second and then R3.8 million in the final year. That would’ve seen the attacker spend the rest of his prime years at Al Ahly.  Al Ahly ready to sell Tau? Then according to the last report, Al Ahly had backtracked on that offer, opting to cash in on the player instead. It was then believed that the club went back to the drawing board and decided to continue with a new contract for Tau. But on revised terms which were not as lucrative. Now according to KickOff.com as per Face Masr Al Ahly are willing to let Tau go for the right price! “It has now been claimed that South African attacker Percy Tau’s future at Al Ahly has already been decided. The Red Devils are prepared to let the Bafana Bafana star depart if the right offer comes in, and are also set to part ways with Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng and French forward Anthony Modeste at the end of the season, according to Face Masr.” Wrote the publication. Right time to leave? There has been never ending rumbles about Tau’s future at Al Ahly, with a transfer looking increasingly likely.
