Kaizer Chiefs to miss five players for their last home game
Kaizer Chiefs to miss five players for their last home game
Kaizer Chiefs will be without five players for their penultimate game of the 2023-24 season against Polokwane City. Amakhosi need to win their last two DStv Premiership games to finish in the top eight. Out of their last five matches, the Glamour Boys have collected five points from a possible 15. Chiefs have found wins hard to come by in the second half of the season, winning just two of their 13 matches across all competitions. Kaizer Chiefs will host Polokwane City on Saturday at the FNB Stadium with at least five players. Amakhosi and City are are tied on 35 points, and only separated by goal difference after 28 matches. Amakhosi are 8th followed by City in 9th position. A winner of that match could most likely have one foot in the top eight. With five players expected to miss Saturday’s important match, Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson won’t be stressing too much. Most of the players out are not regular starters except for Edmilson Dove. The Mozambican international picked up a red card against AmaZulu over the weekend. Other players ruled out include George Matlou, Edmilson Dove, Keagan Dolly, Brandon Petersen and Tebogo Potsane. Kaizer Chiefs players need to step up Johnson and his technical team will be relieved by the fact that the club captain Given Msimango returns from his two-game suspension. Veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune could return to the bench ahead of the suspended Petersen. Khune, who has served the club for two decades, is playing in his last season for the Soweto Giants. The 36-year-old has not played since serving a suspension from December until March. Johnson knows the importance of finishing the league in the top eight. The Kaizer Chiefs interim coach mentioned that his players were not playing badly, but the issue was scoring. “It’s about winning every game and the top eight is very important to the club,” Johnson said. Amakhosi’s captain Given Msimango returns after suspension “It is vital that we take the next two games as cup finals, whereby also the last six games we had treated also as cup finals. “You can see in last week’s game, and this week’s game that our problem is not that we’re playing bad football. But, we’re failing to put the ball in the back of the net,” Johnson told the media. Despite a challenging season, Kaizer Chiefs still have the players to get the club into the top eight.

Why Al Ahly are stalling on new Percy Tau deal!
Why Al Ahly are stalling on new Percy Tau deal!
There seems to be more and more uncertainty with regards to Percy Tau’s Al Ahly future.  Every week or month there seems to be a twist in Tau’s negotiations for a contract extension at Al Ahly.  Looking to buy a good quality pre-owned vehicle, click here! The Bafana Bafana international was in scintillating form for Al Ahly prior to the 2023 Afcon in Ivory Coast. He ended the 2022/23 season with 17 goal contributions in 42 games. That saw his name linked with overseas interest once again. A promising start to the season saw Tau get six goals but he seems to have stagnated on them, with no assists. His form from the previous seemed to be the driving point for contract extension talks. Rumours of small increase for Tau This new contract was set to make Tau the most paid player on the African continent. According to Egyptian reports, it would’ve been a three-year deal. That would’ve have seen the 29-year-old earning R23 million annually. It would then increase by R1.9 million in the first year, R2.8 million in the second and then R3.8 million in the final year. That would’ve seen the attacker spend the rest of his prime years at Al Ahly.  Then according to the last report, Al Ahly had backtracked on that offer, opting to cash in on the player instead. It was then believed that the club went back to the drawing board and decided to continue with a new contract for Tau. But on revised terms which were not as lucrative. If that wasn’t bad enough for Tau, according to Soccer-Laduma as per ngmalgmahir Al Ahly have refused a salary increase! Al Ahly now say NO increase? “The club is unwilling to increase Tau’s salary, and want him to sign a new contract with the same compensation he is currently on. The 30-year-old, however, is reportedly insisting on an increase in his pay in Egypt, where he has been enjoying his football since 2021. The report also claims all options remain open from the club’s side, with Ahly not ruling out a departure for the former Mamelodi Sundowns striker.” Wrote the publication.  There has been never ending rumbles about Tau’s future at Al Ahly, with a transfer looking increasingly likely.

SuperSport United to propose swap deal with Orlando Pirates?
SuperSport United to propose swap deal with Orlando Pirates?
Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United could be set for a few transfer dealings in the coming transfer window.  Already, Pirates have a SuperSport player in their ranks in midfielder Thalente Mbatha who is at the club on loan.  Looking to buy a good quality pre-owned vehicle, click here! Mbatha was a shock signing from Pirates, as he was not a regular in the SuperSport match day squad. Since moving to the Buccaneers, however, he has grabbed his opportunity with both hands. The lanky midfielder is fast becoming a fan favourite, with the club all but set to make his deal permanent at the end of the season,  Lepasa-Mbatha swap deal? Speaking of loans, last season Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa finished the previous campaign at SuperSport. There were even rumours that the club were trying to clinch a permanent transfer for the player. This publication also reported last month that Matsatsantsa could be knocking on the door for him again.  Now according to Soccer-Laduma, SuperSport will try to see if they can’t arrange a swap deal between Lepasa and Mbatha! “As previously reported by the Siya crew, SuperSport United are interested in signing Lepasa and could look at possibly swapping Thalente Mbatha to secure the striker on a permanent basis. Mbatha is on loan to Pirates from SuperSport until the end of the season and the Buccaneers are determined to have him on a permanent deal, but SuperSport could look at benefiting from the deal by securing Lepasa.” Wrote the publication.  Pirates and SuperSport to do business? Besides Lepasa and Mbatha, there could be two other players that could move between Pirates and SuperSport. The Buccaneers are believed to be ready to part ways with veteran midfielder Thabang Monare. It is thought that he could reunite with his former coach Gavin Hunt. Additionally, this publication has also reported that defender Kegan Johannes is on his way to the Sea Robbers from Matsatsantsa.  It remains to be seen if any of the above deals get finalized, but it does seem like there will be business between Pirates and SuperSport.

Ive worked hard for this moment: Amad Diallo opens up on difficult season after heroics vs. Newcastle Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United forward Amad Diallo has revealed his delight with his performance against Newcastle, which he capped with a fantastic goal. United beat Eddie Howe’s men 3-2 at Old Trafford and Amad had a big say in the match. The Ivorian was sensational on his favoured right flank and left many wondering why he hasn’t been used more this season. He kept the ball well and when the opportunity presented itself, always took on his man. Amad especially combined well with Kobbie Mainoo, who also got on the score sheet. It was Amad who provided the assist for Mainoo. But it was the winger’s goal which grabbed the headlines. He walloped the ball home from a corner to restore United’s lead soon after Newcastle had restored parity through Anthony Gordon. After struggling for minutes earlier in the campaign, it now seems like Amad has convinced Ten Hag about his abilities and what he can bring to the table. Ten Hag has now started the winger in back-to-back games and the player has repaid the manager’s faith in kind. Amad spoke to reporters after the game and revealed that he has been waiting for his chance and it certainly hasn’t come easy and hasn’t been handed to him on a silver platter. The 21-year-old said, “Today the team was motivated to play this game and I could see my teammates fighting for everyone. We are happy to win the last game at home.” “It is my first goal in the Premier League for #mufc, and I hope to score more.” “I am happy for myself. In the first half, I tried to do the same and I didn’t score so when I had the second chance I thought ‘Why not?’” Amad added, “I have worked hard for this moment. This season hasn’t been easy for me as I got injured in pre-season.” “But scoring this goal in the last home game is a big feeling for me. I was waiting for a long time for the first start but I’ve gone step by step.” Amad has now likely played himself into starting against Brighton this weekend and even possibly in the FA Cup final at Wembley a week later. David Ornstein: Premier League clubs to vote on major policy that could have major implications on Man United Man United News And Transfer News
1 Premier League clubs are reportedly set to hold a vote on a proposal to entirely abolish video assistant referee (VAR) starting from next season. When VAR was implemented in the Premier League in 2019/20, there was a lot of optimism that it would successfully help refine the game and help match officials make the most accurate refereeing decisions possible. This objective has been achieved to some extent but the technology has also sparked controversy, with weekly debates around the howlers it has facilitated now a regular occurrence. United have not been spared and have also fallen victim to multiple wrong VAR calls this season. Last year in August, United were denied what seemed like a clear penalty even after VAR reviews showed that a shot from Alejandro Garnacho was blatantly handled by Cuti Romero inside the box. Back in September, United were not awarded yet another penalty when it looked like Arsenal defender Gabriel had intentionally and cynically brought down Rasmus Hojlund inside the danger area. These are just two of the many typical instances in which Red Devils fans have been left feeling like VAR has robbed them and placed them at a massive disadvantage during games. Even more troubling are the inconsistencies, as it seems decisions made in one game are not upheld in another. The result of this has been a lot of frustrations across the board and it seems that one club in particular has had enough of it. The Athletic’s David Ornstein reports that Wolverhampton Wanderers have submitted a resolution to the Premier League, effectively calling for VAR to be scrapped this summer. This move by Wolves has triggered a vote when representatives of all 20 Premier League clubs meet for their annual summit in Harrogate on June 6. Wolves’ statement read, “There is no blame to be placed — we are all just looking for the best possible outcome for football — and all stakeholders have been working hard to try and make the introduction of additional technology a success.” “However, after five seasons of VAR in the Premier League, it is time for a constructive and critical debate on its future. Our position is that the price we are paying for a small increase in accuracy is at odds with the spirit of our game, and as a result we should remove it from the 2024/25 season onwards.” A Premier League spokesperson responded, “The Premier League can confirm it will facilitate a discussion on VAR with our clubs at the annual general meeting next month. Clubs are entitled to put forward proposals at shareholders’ meetings and we acknowledge the concerns and issues around the use of VAR.” “However, the league fully supports the use of VAR and remains committed, alongside PGMOL, to make continued improvements to the system for the benefit of the game and fans.” It’s important to note that a two-thirds majority (the equivalent of 14 clubs) is needed for any Premier League rule to be amended. Manchester United target Michael Olise sees his agent banned for breach of rules Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United’s transfer strategy this summer figures to be different from what it has been for the last decade or so. It will be the first summer window under the INEOS leadership and the hopes are high regarding a pivot towards a smarter recruitment drive. Perhaps no other name has been linked in more concrete terms with the “new” United than Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise. The right-winger has set the Premier League alight since joining from Reading in the Championship division. United got a first-hand look at how deadly he can be after he scored a brace in their shameful 4-0 away loss to Palace. It isn’t a surprise that they are after the Frenchman but it looks like developments outside their control could make it a bit tricky. The Football Association have announced that Olise’s agent is set to be banned for six months for breaching FA agent rules. The agent has been banned after an investigation into the player’s contract with Reading dating all the way back to 2019., with a fine of £15,000 on top of it after the charged he denied were proven. Supposedly, he was set to “receive payments contingent on the future transfer of the player” which is a breach of rules under the FA. Reading, his club at the time, have also been fined £200,000 for the offence. However, the ban will come into force from October 4, so if United manage to strike a deal for him in the summer, they can rest easy knowing who to get in touch with. The right-wing spot has been a pain point at United for a long time, with Jadon Sancho flattering to deceive and Antony turning out to be a big-money dud. Mason Greenwood became a non-factor due to his off-field issues and Amad never seems to get a consistent look-in for the first team. Therefore, Olise makes sense as the primary target as a Premier League-proven player who is also on the younger side. United would hope there are no further transgressions from the agent till the summer when they can begin talks over a potential transfer. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Bruno Fernandes highlights his massive importance to Man United in 3-2 win vs. Newcastle United Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United managed a 3-2 win against Newcastle United in the club’s final home game of the season. Goals from Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and a late Rasmus Hojlund strike were enough for United to secure the win and clinch all three points. United had less possession (45%) compared to Newcastle (55%) Erik ten Hag’s men had eight shots on target from their total 17 cracks at Martin Dubravka’s goal. In comparison, the Magpies managed a total of 21 shots, with eight of them requiring Andre Onana to intervene. United put together 360 passes with a pass completion rate of 78%. Newcastle on the hand strung 420 passes with a pass accuracy of 81%. One of United’s most outstanding performers on the night was Bruno Fernandes, who just returned from an injury that ruled him out of the club’s last two clashes against Crystal Palace and Arsenal respectively. At Old Trafford vs. Newcastle, Fernandes proved why he’s the club’s most important player. United were purring with him in the middle of the park and despite the fact he didn’t get a goal, he ran the show. The playmaker had an assist to his name – for Hojlund’s goal. Fernandes fired two shots, one was on target while the other didn’t really worry Dubravka. During the time he was on the pitch, Fernandes had 70 touches of the ball. He managed to successfully deliver 39 of the 48 passes he attempted – an 81% pass accuracy. Five of the midfielder’s passes were key passes. The United skipper tried to find his target with eight crosses and 10 long balls. Three of his crosses and half of the long balls he pinged successfully connected. He also created one big chance. The 29-year-old won three of the ground duels he delved into, made one interception and as many clearances. He also put in two tackles. (Stats obtained from Sofascore) Fernandes certainly proved why he should not be part of the incoming summer cull that’s expected to be implemented by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS this summer. United should be looking to build around him and surround their captain with top players who can compete for the biggest trophies and prizes. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Facundo Pellistri gives Man United something to think about in another stunning individual display Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United loanee Facundo Pellistri has given his parent club something to think about as they contemplate a decision on his future, in yet another wonderful performance for Granada despite their defeat at the hands of Rayo Vallecano. Granada were handed their third consecutive loss by their La Liga opponents at Estadio de Vallecas on Wednesday. An 89th-minute goal from Lucas Boye only served to be a consolation prize for Pellistri and his teammates against Rayo, who played for large sections of the game with 10 men after Oscar Trejo was given his marching orders very early into proceedings. However, the loss shouldn’t take anything away from Pellistri, who was brilliant again and is having a enjoying a strong finish to his temporary tenure with Granada. Pellistri started on his favoured right side of a 4-2-3-1 formation. The Uruguayan completed all 90 minutes and during that time, he had 35 touches of the ball to his name. He successfully delivered 17 of the 21 passes he attempted to find his teammates with, managing an individual pass completion rate of 81%. One of Pellistri’s passes was a key pass. Pellistri tried to find his target with four crosses and two long balls. He successfully connected with just one of his cross attempts and all two long balls that he pointed. Unfortunately for the winger, he couldn’t test Stole Dimitrievski in the Rayo goal as he didn’t register any short, whether off-target or on-target. The 22-year-old completed just one of the two dribbles he embarked on. He also won five of the 11 ground duels he delved into. Pellistri drew in two could and also put in as many tackles. (Stats obtained from Sofascore) He’s showing United that if they were to keep him and give him a chance, he can offer something. It’s well-known that the Red Devils are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements, especially in the right-wing position, with the likes of Michael Olise on the club’s radar. If a move for Olise falls through, Pellistri could be someone United look to integrate into the side. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Kobbie Mainoo adding goals to his game proving he is better playing further forward Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United ended their home campaign in what has been a disappointing Premier League season on a happy note, beating Newcastle United 3-2 on Wednesday. Carrying on from the weekend game against Arsenal, Erik ten Hag once again played a less chaotic style and the low block ensured the Magpies did not break at speed and at will. The midfield was much more compact and with Bruno Fernandes’ return, the attack gained impetus with the Portuguese pulling the strings all over. And the young guns produced the goods for the Red Devils yet again, as has often been the case this season and INEOS are right to want to keep hold of their young talents moving forward. Mainoo adding goals Kobbie Mainoo, one of the untouchables, scored the game’s opener and his fourth of the season and is starting to add goals to his game, which is a huge positive for the club. He got the ball after it went through a bundle of legs with a slight suspicion of off-side. But the academy graduate was not fazed at all and kept his cool under pressure to slot home with ease. Kobbie Mainoo’s game by numbers vs. Newcastle: 21 passes completed 10/13 final passes completed 3 interception 2/3 tackles won 2 dribbles 1 block 1 shot 1 goal Well rounded performance. pic.twitter.com/FVddVxWESv — Statman Dave (@StatmanDave) May 15, 2024 The maturity he shows is beyond his years and it is clear to see that the club have a special player on their hands who needs to be nurtured properly and not overworked as he has been this season. It is clear that the young Englishman is much more of a threat when played further forward instead of asking him to be the defensive midfielder. INEOS need to find him the perfect partner The England international was busy throughout the game, popping up with crucial interceptions while always battling with his opposite number in order to win as many duels as possible. The 19-year-old won four duels in all and made three interceptions. Defensively he was sound as well, winning two tackles, while making one clearance and blocking one attempt. He had 39 touches of the ball, and completed 10 out of 13 attempted final third passes as well as one successful dribble (all stats via sofascore). With Casemiro’s future increasingly looking likely to be away from Old Trafford, the new co-owners need to find the perfect partner for Mainoo, to allow him to express himself closer to goal instead of having to constantly track back. Amad Diallo shines as Manchester United defeat Newcastle United 3-2 Man United News And Transfer News
3 In what was a rare composed performance this season, Manchester United managed to hold on for a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United in their final match at Old Trafford this season. While little can be done to improve Man United’s standing in the Premier League with only one game to go, a win was nonetheless important, especially as Erik ten Hag’s side prepares to face Manchester City in the FA Cup final on 25 May. Compared to their previous batch of results, United appeared to improve in several facets of play, particularly when it came to their defence as well as attacking build-ups. Although the back four capitulated near the end of the match to give the visitors a chance at clawing their way back for a draw, it was United’s attacking lineup who ultimately saved the day. Amad Diallo proved to be an essential part of United’s attack on the night, making his presence known from the start. A constant threat in the final third, Amad’s impact was already felt in the 31st minute, when he spotted Kobbie Mainoo running into the box unmarked. He threaded the ball past a handful of Newcastle defenders to Mainoo, who was able to put away his shot to hand United the lead. While United appeared dejected after Newcastle equalised in the 49th minute, it was Amad who rose to the occasion yet again to re-energise his team. As Bruno Fernandes squared up to take a corner, Amad used his wit to position himself on the edge of the box where he went unnoticed by the visitors’ defence. As Fernandes’ cross was cut out by Kieran Trippier, Amad was perfectly positioned to pounce on the loose ball. With his first touch, he struck a thunderous shot on goal to restore United’s lead. The youngster’s goal and assist came as little surprise given his many attacking contributions throughout the match. Amad got two shots on target, one off target, and a fourth shot that was blocked. He exuded confidence on the ball, completing two of three dribbles and winning four of his eight ground duels as well as his only aerial duel of the match. Amad’s passing game was also on point, with the 21 year old completing 23 of his 28 passes (82% accuracy) while contributing two key passes. Interestingly, the Ivorian also made four defensive contributions, including one tackle, a clearance, and interception, and one block. Ultimately, Amad emerged as United’s best player on the night, proving to be a constant goal threat as well as a playmaker that his opponents could not afford to take their eye off of. It will be interesting to see how the starlet will impact United’s final two matches of the season and if he could perhaps guide his team to an unlikely FA Cup victory come May 25. Erik ten Hag lavishes praise on Manchester Uniteds stunning youngsters Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United reacted strongly to a disappointing 0-1 loss to Arsenal last weekend with a spirited performance against Newcastle United this evening. The Red Devils ran out 3-2 winners and put in a lot of the fight that has been missing for a large amount of the season. It means that United have now equalled the Magpies’ points total but stay behind in eighth due to an inferior goal difference. Goals from youngsters Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund reminded the Old Trafford crowd that there are certainly some things to look forward to despite the bleakness of this season. Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, manager Erik ten Hag was understandably delighted with his players’ performance and commented on the magnitude of his side’s victory. “It’s always nice to win any game. It’s important to win the last game at Old Trafford this season. The fans deserve this because they’ve had difficult times and always stayed with us.” The Dutchman then went on to praise the fans for their efforts in the last few games and this included the valiant away fans that travelled all the way to Selhurst Park on a bank holiday Monday, saw their team haplessly lose 4-0 and still applauded the beleaguered team off the pitch. “We are here together. We wanted to pay the fans back. Fantastic. Great goals. But it was a team effort how we made the goals. But I’m always happy at young players who are progressing very good and scored some brilliant goals.” The former Ajax coach praised his young team’s ability to match Newcastle’s strength and punish them when given the opportunity. “Newcastle have a lot of physical power and you have to match that but you also have to play football. We had found the really good balance in this.” Ten Hag then defended his decision to rest Rasmus Hojlund by leaving him on the bench to start the match. “I think he [Hojlund] needs some rest so he’s fresh. Strikers live for goals. It’s very important for his confidence so I’m really pleased he scored.” The BBC reporter then questioned Ten Hag on the FA Cup final in 10 days’ time, but he would not look past Sunday’s crucial final Premier League tie with European football still to play for. “We don’t think about this yet. First we have Brighton in the last game which is important in the ranking. We don’t have it in our hands but we have to do our job.” United fans will need to wait until Sunday afternoon to see if the Red Devils can follow up tonight’s strong performance with another spirited showing against Brighton on the south coast of England. Mason Greenwood the ray of light for Getafe as they are put to sword by Atletico Madrid Man United News And Transfer News
1 On a night when Manchester United might have found a firm solution for their right-wing woes in Amad due to his virtuoso display vs Newcastle, the former leader for that place continued his good form. Mason Greenwood was the only Getafe player to come out of the game against Atletico Madrid with any credit as his team lost 3-0. Antoine Griezmann hit a hattrick to condemn Getafe to a heavy defeat but Greenwood continued his run of sterling displays. In a change from his usual right-wing position, Greenwood was deployed more centrally as Getafe sought to take advantage of his speed and trickery to funnel transitions through him. He was up to the task, ending the game with five successful dribbles, hitting the woodwork once, and winning six out of his nine ground duels. Atletico defenders had to be on high alert every time they lost the ball as Getafe immediately looked to Greenwood to progress them up the pitch. The United loanee had two high-quality shots on target, ending the night with an xG of 0.47, a return from which one generally expects at least one goal. He was also a creative spark when he wasn’t busy trying to score, being 100% accurate on his three long balls, playing one key pass and completing 2/4 crosses. (Stats via sofascore) As the season has progressed, Greenwood has established himself as the clear talisman of a team which, even though they generally don’t score much, do so most of the time through his involvement. This game was a perfect encapsulation of the same in action again as he looked a level above his teammates. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he’s playing a level above his current teammates next season, even though his chances of a United return are unlikely. The club would just be happy that an asset they were ready to mark as distressed last season has bounced back and can net them a genuine fee this summer. Bruno Fernandes addresses speculation surrounding his future after stunning display vs. Newcastle Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has addressed suggestions that he could leave the club during the summer transfer window after the 3-2 win against Newcastle. United clinched all three points courtesy of goals from Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund. Fernandes was brilliant on his return from injury and capped his performance with an assist for Hojlund’s late strike, which sealed the win for the Reds. Against Newcastle, Fernandes highlighted his importance to the team and why club bosses would be making a massive mistake by even considering parting ways with him. He has been heavily linked to Saudi Pro League outfits and also clubs in Europe including Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. However, a recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Fernandes is likely to stay at Old Trafford after a meeting he held with the top brass. The 29-year-old has now confirmed that unless United look to actively get rid of him, his desire is to remain at the club and help restore it to its past glories. He said on Sky Sports, “I will be here as long as the club still wants me and wants me to be part of the future.” The playmaker remarked about United’s campaign, “Obviously the job isn’t finished yet. We still have one game in the Premier League then the biggest game of the season, the FA Cup final.” “It has been a tough season. The table shows that and we are all aware of that. The fans have been amazing and behind us all season. We all appreciate what they have been doing for us.” “We want to do better and do differently and they [fans] deserve that. They have been amazing for us and we had to do something, we have been trying but results don’t show that. We have been working hard and everyone has been giving their best it is not enough and we have to do more.” He explained that his display against Eddie Howe’s men was not anything special and at the end of the day, the team pulled through together. “It doesn’t exist, a captain’s performance, it is a team performance.” “I am no different from anyone just because I have the armband. I always try my best and we always do the best we can for the club – nobody hides that we play for a big club and we have to lift our standards every game.” All attention for United now shifts towards their match against Brighton on the final day of the season on Sunday. There is then the small matter of an FA Cup final at Wembley vs. Manchester City. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Newcastle win shows Bruno Fernandes young talents hold the key for Manchester United moving forward Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United finished off their home campaign this Premier League season with a 3-2 win over Newcastle United on Wednesday to put some smiles back on faces ahead of a huge 10 days. Erik ten Hag addressed the home support after the game and mentioned how the team will look to end with a win against Brighton which could ensure Europa Conference League football for next season. And after that comes the all-important FA Cup final and the chance to qualify for the Europa League and get one over the noisy neighbours. And in the process, possibly even ensure the manager remains in the job for the coming campaign. The Dutchman’s tactics have been a major talking point throughout the campaign but as was the case against Arsenal at the weekend, the team was not as chaotic as in previous games. Bruno, the catalyst The first half was quite good with the team defending in a low block yet again, which suits the team due to their injury issues and lack of pace at the back. Whether Jason Wilcox has had any input behind this style change is uncertain but this style will at least ensure that humiliations can be avoided. If only the manager had tweaked his tactics earlier. The other big difference was the return of Bruno Fernandes who has been sorely missed in the last two games. The Portuguese was everywhere as usual, from dropping into defence to playing up top. He conducted proceedings with elan and proved again that he is one experienced star that needs to stay to usher in a successful era for new co-owners INEOS. Despite the rumours swirling around, the club should never entertain offers for the Portugal international unless the player expresses his desire to leave. That does not seem to be the case after seeing the performance at Old Trafford. The goals came from Kobbie Mainoo, Amad Diallo and substitute Rasmus Hojlund and once again proved that the future is bright at the club and it is the academy that has stepped up to save the manager’s blushes and provide that ray of hope that the club can still keep dreaming. The kids bring joy It has been a difficult season for the club but the kids have done all right! The England international was excellent yet again and keeps displaying maturity beyond his years. After a injury-enforced leave, the Ivorian was made to wait for his chance but he has proved that he deserves more chances moving forward, especially amid the struggles of Antony and the uncertainty surrounding his future. If the club can bring in help for the young Dane, United could potentially have a lethal strikeforce considering the talent on the wings with Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford. INEOS’ planned revamp just needs the right ingredients as they already have a hugely talented bunch of teenagers, some of whom are already in the first team while quite a few are knocking on the door from the academy as well. Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial say goodbye to Manchester United fans after win vs Newcastle Man United News And Transfer News
1 Begin as you mean to go along, as they say, and if the final three fixtures this season could be taken in isolation, Manchester United have begun this run on an optimistic note. Newcastle United were pushed aside in a 3-2 victory that was a lot better than the scoreline suggests. Injury returnees looked good and Amad’s emergence as a genuine first-team option signalled the start of a new era. For a new era to come along, the old one must end and the signs of it were fully visible after the game. Erik ten Hag gave fans a rallying cry to get them up for the final two games, including the FA Cup final, but some post-match scenes caught the eye. Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane said goodbye to the United fans in what is their last time on the Old Trafford pitch as United players. Anthony Martial & Raphael Varane say goodbye to #MUFC pic.twitter.com/64fNNYGjPi — Simon Peach (@SimonPeach) May 15, 2024 Varane recently announced his departure from the club while Martial has been a non-factor this season anyways and looks set to leave as well. Ten Hag also brought on Christian Eriksen late on and there seemed to be an air of inevitability around his substitution as well, giving him a chance to take in the ovation. There are many players who could be on the chopping block this season as INEOS attempts to stamp their authority on the block. With Varane and Martial alone, United will save nearly half a million/week in wages, set to be supplemented by the potential departures of Casemiro and Eriksen too. Casemiro also looked dejected at full-time but the focus now turns to the FA Cup. The players have had their home goodbyes now the fans would want one last push to see them leave with a trophy. Erik ten Hag makes big promise to Manchester United fans on the pitch after Newcastle game Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United ended their home Premier League campaign on a high with a 3-2 win against Newcastle United. Although there were some scares, it was nonetheless a much-improved display from what the club has served up in recent weeks. Erik ten Hag will take confidence from the fact that the players returning from injury, chief of them captain Bruno Fernandes, made their mark. After the win, as is customary, the manager addressed the Old Trafford crowd to give a rallying cry as United finish their league campaign at Brighton. However, after that game lies the biggest gauntlet of this season, a repeat FA Cup final of last year but with much larger consequences. A win seems like the only way that United can get Europa League next season and Ten Hag made a big promise in no uncertain terms during his address. He said: “Season is not over yet. Now, we will travel to Brighton for three points and then we go to Wembley. “I promise you that those players and I will give everything to get that cup, to win the cup, and bring it to Old Trafford. “We are sure you will be there supporting us as you have been throughout the season.” He reserves special praise for the supporters, who have been with the team through thick and thin, needed more than ever in difficult times. He said: “It wasn’t an easy season but one thing remained constant that was the backing of you for the team. ” The best way to repay the fans would be by winning the FA Cup although United are undoubtedly underdogs for the game against Manchester City. However, a single game legendary performance from the players to give the fans something back should be the motivating factor. It might even save Erik ten Hag’s job! Three things we learned as Man United narrowly beat Newcastle United in five-goal thriller Man United News And Transfer News
Three things we learned as Man United narrowly beat Newcastle United in five-goal thriller Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United looked to get back to winning ways and end a run of two consecutive defeats when they hosted Newcastle in their final Old Trafford game of the season. It has proven to be an extremely disappointing campaign for United fans and Erik ten Hag and his players had the chance to somewhat end it on a high note by beating Newcastle and maximising the club’s chances of clinching Europa League football. Ten Hag started Andre Onana in goal with a familiar defensive four of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, Jonny Evans and Diogo Dalot ahead of the shot-stopper. In the middle of the park, Ten Hag gave the nod to Kobbie Mainoo, Sofyan Amrabat and the just-returned Bruno Fernandes. Amad Diallo, Scott McTominay and Alejandro Garnacho formed the team’s attacking line. Here are three things we learned from Manchester United’s 3-2 win against Newcastle. United a much better team with Fernandes United are undoubtedly a much stronger team with Fernandes in action, as evidenced by the stark contrast between their poor performance in his absence and their marked improvement against Newcastle. In the Red Devils’ last two games vs. Crystal Palace and Arsenal, Fernandes didn’t play due to an injury and he was sorely missed on both occasions. United were hammered 4-0 by Palace and were beaten 1-0 days later by the Gunners. There was a drastic difference with the skipper back into the starting XI vs. the Magpies. United didn’t look bereft of creativity and ideas like they did in their previous two clashes. Ten Hag’s men looked more of a threat and asked questions of Newcastle’s backline. The forwards had a lot more to feed on and it’s not a surprise that Amad and Garnacho were much more involved in proceedings with Fernandes pulling the strings behind them. Even more remarkable is how much more energetic United looked with Fernandes in the middle of the park. The Portugal international could be seen regularly issuing instructions to his teammates and directing them on where to position themselves. Even beyond his creativity and obvious brilliance going forward, United had missed Fernandes’ leadership. Jim Beglin in commentary summarised it best when he said that the 20-time English champions are a significantly more formidable proposition with the No. 8 in action. Amidst all the speculation surrounding his future and suggestions that he could leave Old Trafford in the summer, Fernandes’ impact vs. Newcastle should be proof enough in the eyes of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the top brass that they can’t afford to let the midfielder leave just yet. He still has plenty to offer and United can return to being successful even sooner with Fernandes part of the club’s future plans. Amad and Mainoo’s excellent combinations One thing that was very noticeable from the match and especially in the opening 45 minutes was just how well Amad and Mainoo combined. The two were incredible and United shed first blood through them. Amad broke inside the Newcastle box using some nice skill and a fine piece of ball control before finding an unmarked Mainoo. The young midfielder expertly set himself up before releasing a good shot from close range that frankly, Martin Dubravka had no chance of saving. The strike was Mainoo’s fourth goal across all competitions, in his breakthrough campaign – a simply outstanding return from one of England’s best prospects at the moment. Beyond the goal, Mainoo and Amad combined well with some exquisite phases of play that helped United to breach a stubborn and compact Newcastle defensive unit. Just before the interval, the two produced brilliant touch-and-go football that almost saw Amad have a sight of goal. Unfortunately for the Ivorian, he was dispossessed just before he could dispatch his effort. All game, they linked up well and it was refreshing to see Mainoo operate with a player at the same technical level as him. The result was that it helped the Reds have sustained spells of control in the game and retain possession. Amad also got on the score sheet just before the hour mark and it was a thing of beauty. He found himself with space in the box from a corner and walloped the ball into the back of the net. His goal was a crucial one for United as it restored their lead after the Tyneside outfit had temporarily restored parity through Anthony Gordon. It’s criminal that Amad hasn’t played more minutes this term but his last two appearances should give United clarity about the winger’s role going forward. With him and Mainoo present, the future is bright for the club. McTominay not fit for purpose as a striker For all McTominay’s heroics in front of goal this season, his performance against Newcastle showed he’s still best suited in the middle of the park as opposed to leading the line. Not that he was pitiful or anything like that but he hardly delivered a striker’s performance. The only good effort he had at goal was an early header from a Wan-Bissaka cross. His shortcomings as a number nine were made even more glaring when Rasmus Hojlund scored United’s third as soon as he was thrust into the action. Perhaps McTominay and United are better off with the Scotland international making late runs into the box as opposed to being the man up front. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Manchester United 3-2 Newcastle United: Player Ratings Man United News And Transfer News
Manchester United 3-2 Newcastle United: Player Ratings Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United beat Newcastle United 3-2 at Old Trafford tonight. Here are our player ratings for the game- (A score of 6 is around average) Andre Onana 6- Can’t be blamed directly for either goal. Tipped over a header acrobatically in the second to preserve United’s lead. Diogo Dalot 7- Quickly becoming United’s new “Mr Consistent” with his availability and nearly always dependable displays. Continued that here. Casemiro 5- How do you rate a player who has a nightmare one minute and then single-handedly saves a goal the next? Holistically, it was another unconvincing display saved by a goal-line clearance and tackle that won United the game. Jonny Evans 6- Alexander Isak was a non-factor outside of the bright start in the first minute as Evans did his job well. Aaron Wan-Bissaka 6.5- Probably had the toughest assignment against the in-form Anthony Gordon but handled him well. Sofyan Amrabat 5- Was having another OK game before the signs of the old Amrabat reappeared as he struggled with the pace of the game, getting robbed by Gordon which almost sent him through in the first half. Had one brilliant recovery tackle in the second half. Kobbie Mainoo 8.5- Calmness personified with his goal and generally kept play ticking. His combination play with Amad was a joy to watch. Amrabat might not have set the world alight, but a defensive midfielder alongside Mainoo helps him play better. Amad 9- Why hasn’t he been playing all this time?! Scored a breathtaking first-time shot to cap off a remarkable performance. Adds a simpler, smarter approach to chaotic United, especially in attack. His intricate understanding of spaces and operating in small areas is crucial to this attack’s functioning. Scott McTominay 4- Got the full “Manchester United Striker 2023/24” experience as he tried to make the aerial ball stick a couple of times and generally remained on the fringes of the game. Alejandro Garnacho 5- Got outshined by Amad on the opposite wing as the stark contrast in playing style of lock-picking Amad with door-smashing Garnacho had only one clear winner on this day. Bruno Fernandes 8- He makes this team tick, as simple as that. Players look energised, attacks have a semblance of coherence, and United look threatening only when he’s on the pitch. Dovetailed well with the attackers to trouble Newcastle and assisted Hojlund’s late goal. Substitutes: Lisandro Martinez 7- His return was a mood-lifter around the stadium. United didn’t need much from him on the day. Marcus Rashford 6- Came on for his 400th United appearance in a nice milestone. Rasmus Hojlund 7- Got his goal seconds after coming on after Fernandes passed to him. He rarely gets chances created for him but there’s a quality player there who would flourish in a functional team. Christian Eriksen 6- Came on late for Bruno to potentially say goodbye to Old Trafford. Manager Erik ten Hag 5- A win he’ll cherish as his injury returnees did the job for him but if anything, Amad’s virtuoso display doesn’t reflect well on him and teething structural problems remain. Match Report: Manchester United 3-2 Newcastle United Man United News And Transfer News
2 Manchester United secured a 3-2 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Wednesday night in what was a rare convincing performance from Erik ten Hag’s side. From the start, it was a familiar story as Man United’s defence was placed under pressure. The away side ventured into their final third, with striker Aleksander Isak taking a wayward shot that flew past the far post, thereby allowing United to reset. Casemiro was back at his worst, making a pass that was intercepted by Elliot Anderson who laid the ball off to Anthony Gordon. Fortunately, Sofyan Amrabat was able to make a potentially game-changing tackle, diffusing the Newcastle attack. Nine minutes in, United won a free kick on the edge of the box. Bruno Fernandes crossed to Casmeiro, who attempted an audacious overhead kick that went over the top. Three minutes later, Aaron Wan-Bissaka played a strong cross to Scott McTominay, whose header was caught by the Newcastle goalkeeper. Following a rocky start to the match, United appear to be finding their rhythm. Amad Diallo came close to scoring, taking a thunderous low-struck shot that forced a diving save from the keeper. While Garnacho was on the receiving end of the subsequent cross, his effort veered past the side netting. United kept up the pressure in the minutes that followed, consistently making their way into Newcastle’s third. While Fernandes appeared to be in pain after his leg was knicked by an opponent, United breathed a sigh of relief as he shook it off to go and take the subsequent corner. Fernandes’ well-worked cross found Amad, whose shot was blocked. 20 minutes in, Lewis Hall attempted to catch Andre Onana off guard with a sporadic shot from outside the box. Fortunately, Onana was on high alert, making a comfortable save. In the 31st minute, Amad weaved his way to the edge of the box, putting a through ball to Kobbie Mainoo who appeared to be in disbelief at the amount of space he had. Mainoo did well to compose himself, tucking the ball into the bottom corner of the net to hand United the lead. Just three minutes later, Amrabat made a horrific error, attempting to control an incoming cross only to lose possession to Gordon. Casemiro did well to slide tackle Gordon, thereby putting an end to the danger. While VAR checked to see if there was a penalty, the match soon resumed with no penalty awarded. Moments later, Casemiro was United’s last line of defence yet again. Dan Burn’s header beat Onana, only for Casemiro to clear it off the goalline. Suddenly, it appeared as if the Brazilian is on a mission to redeem himself following what has been an underwhelming season. Sadly, Casemiro’s fortunes turned around rapidly as he fell violently to the ground after making a leaping header. Fortunately, he was able to return to the action, yet again helping United by heading a threatening cross by Kieran Trippier over the crossbar. Despite the away side dominating much of the final few minutes of the half, United were able to comfortably cope until the half-time whistle, going into the break with a valuable lead. Seconds after kick-off, Mainoo was dispossessed, however, Onana did well to catch Bruno Guimaraes’ effort on goal. Two minutes later, Newcastle were on the attack again, with Gordon taking a shot that was blocked by Casemiro. Anderson’s follow-up went high and wide of the post, allowing United to live another day. In the 49th minute, United were finally punished by the visitors as Gordon equalised for Newcastle from close range after getting on the end of a Jacob Murphy cross. Three minutes later, it appeared as if United had still not learned their lesson as the away side were in on goal yet again. Isak got on the end of a rapid counter, however, Amrabat was able to get in the way of his shot to prevent Newcastle from taking the lead. In the 56th minute, United were back from the dead. Amad positioned himself on the edge of the box ahead of a corner, where he was able to pick up the loose ball following a Newcastle deflection. With a one-time shot, Amad rocketed the ball into the back of the net for his first Premier League goal, thereby restoring United’s lead. On the hour mark, Diogo Dalot looked to get in on the action, as he took a thunderous long-range shot that the keeper struggled to parry. Fernandes later had a shot from the edge of the box which veered narrowly over the crossbar. With 18 minutes to play, Gordon raced into the box and picked up a poor loose pass by Onana. Gordon passed the ball across the face of goal to Miguel Almiron who was inches in front of goal. His pass was just a little too quick for Almiron, wasting a prime opportunity to equalise. With eight minutes of regular time remaining, United made three changes. Goalscorers Mianoo and Amad as well as Garnacho made way for Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, and Lisandro Martinez. Just two minutes after coming on, Hojlund announced himself, scoring United’s third goal of the match to double their lead. Clearly, having fresh legs helped as he dribbled past Burn before putting the ball out of the keeper’s reach. Two minutes from time, Fernandes fell to the ground, indicating a potential hamstring issue. Unwilling to take any risks, Ten Hag took him off for Christian Eriksen. After the announcement of six minutes of stoppage time, United’s defence capitulated yet again, as Hall got on the end of a corner to score a fairly straightforward goal. Suddenly, all the pressure was placed back on United. Despite suffering a late scare, United were able to hold on for three points, bringing a positive ending to their final performance of the season at Old Trafford. Starting XI: Onana, Amrabat, Fernandes, Amad, Garnacho, Casemiro, Dalot, Wan-Bissaka, Evans, Mainoo, McTominay Subs: Hojlund, Rashford, Martinez, Eriksen

SHOCK LOSS TO RICHARDS BAY Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates have to revive their spirit and confidence. The Sea Robbers lost 1-0 to Richards Bay in Soweto on Saturday. Here’s what coach Jose Riveiro promised to tell his players. Speaking to the media after Sanele Barne’s strike sunk the Sea Robbers, the Spanish coach revealed what he would tell his Orlando Pirates team. “As usual, we will do a collective analysis of the performance and I’m sure that if I have this feeling after I’ve lost, just a few minutes ago, that my team was playing as good as we could today, at least in the the first half, it’s true in the second half we were a more, not disorganised, but tried something different and didn’t get what we were looking for,” the Orlando Pirates mentor said via iDiski Times. “So it’s going to be easy to show them they were doing what we were looking for, with things we know we need to improve. There was a situation in our right side that didn’t work they way we were expected today, there’s little things that could have helped us a bit more to get the result. “Like I said, we have the opportunity to do an objective analysis of the game, and show the players, we still performing the same way than in the previous seven games where we got the results. The Spaniard added to say that Orlando Pirates played well enough, the difference was in the final actions to score. “The only difference today, we didn’t score, we didn’t manage to put the ball in the net like in the previous games, but everything else, the concentration, the pace, the desire, the level of aggression – everything was there. That’s why I said, in my opinion, it’s a defeat that won’t affect us at all, there’s not going to space to feel sorry for ourselves. “We understand the dynamics of the game, and sometimes you have these types of games and if we have to lose, let’s do it in this way,” the Orlando Pirates tactician concluded.

Kaizer Chiefs face last home game of the season
It’s nearly time to say goodbye to another DStv Premiership season. Kaizer Chiefs first have to play a final home game before finishing the term on the road. DSTV PREMIERSHIP SCHEDULE: KAIZER CHIEFS VS POLOKWANE CITY Cavin Johnson’s Amakhosi have yet to seal a top-eight spot. This weekend, they will have another opportunity against ninth-placed Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium. Kaizer Chiefs will host the match on Saturday at 15:00. The Soweto Giants will be without two suspended players: Given Msimango and Brandon Petersen. AMAKHOSI COACH NAMES TWO MAMELODI SUNDOWNS PLAYERS FOR PLAYER OF THE SEASON Facing the media after Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 draw against AmaZulu last week, coach Johnson was asked to name the best candidates. The Johannesburg-born coach believes Sundowns’ midfield general Teboho Mokoena and goalkeeper Ronwen Williams have been outstanding. “The number one that comes to mind is Teboho Mokoena,” the Kaizer Chiefs coach said as quoted by iDiski Times. “And the other one is Ronwen Williams. They’ve taken the African Football League, they came [third] in CAF and they’ve done very, very well,” Johnson concluded. RULANI MOKWENA’S PICKS Chatting to the media last month, Sundowns coach Mokwena also picked Williams, as well as Orlando Pirates’ Patrick Maswanganyi, as well as Mokoena and Mosa Lebusa. “It is a difficult one because I think there has been an unorthodox front runner and that’s Ronwen Williams and it is unorthodox because we normally don’t consider goalkeepers to receive such awards,” Mokwena said via Sowetan. “I’m talking about football culture worldwide. That’s why they started creating individual awards like the Golden Gloves awards for goalkeepers, because honestly, it’s an award that very seldom goes to the goalkeeper. Mokwena added to say that Williams’ goalkeeping is as excellent as his ability on the ball. “When I look at Ronwen’s contribution this season to Sundowns, not only to goalkeeping but also to in-field play. In possessions, the way he tries to do things and from the level of consistency he has been head and shoulders above the rest. The Sundowns tactician said Maswanganyi also deserves a look-in. “But there have been very good individual performances, a player like Patrick Maswanganyi deserves special mention because I have been watching and he is picking up towards the end of the season. “I think Teboho Mokoena has been good once again. He is at a very good level. I think Mosa Lebusa has been excellent, this is my opinion.  “He has been having an incredible season and some of the players that went to Bafana Bafana even before they went to Afcon, were excellent. “If I was a judge, I would be biased and it would go to Sundowns player no doubt about that,” Mokwena concluded. Aaron Anselmino: Boca Juniors remove release clause for Manchester United target in new deal Man United News And Transfer News
1 Boca Juniors prospect and reported Manchester United defensive target Aaron Anselmino has reportedly put pen to paper on a fresh deal that has abolished his release clause. Anselmino is believed to be a target for United ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. The Red Devils are on the hunt for reinforcements in the defensive department and this need was made even more profound following Raphael Varane’s recent announcement that he’s set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the campaign. United continue to be linked to players such as Jarrad Branthwaite (Everton), Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace), Edmond Tapsoba (Bayer Leverkusen), Leny Yoro (Lille), Antonio Silva (Benfica), Goncalo Inacio (Sporting Lisbon) and Max Kilman (Wolves), just to mention some names. A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United have begun to look into the South American talent market in more depth to unearth relatively unknown gems courtesy of the constraints brought about by the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). This is where stars like Juan Gimenez, Franco Mastantuono, Ian Subiabre, Tomas Parmo and of course Anselmino, come in. Back in March, Anselmino publicly responded to the speculation suggesting he could be on his way to United. He said that in the meantime, his head is at Boca and he’s primarily focused on achieving the best results with the Argentina-based outfit. Anselmino signed a contract back in January until 2028, which was believed to have a release clause worth around £15 million, an increase on a previous figure. Rio Negro now report that Boca have had a rethink and have made steps to completely do away with the release clause, in an apparent effort to have greater control over the 19-year-old’s future. The outlet shares that Anselmino has signed an improved contract, which still runs until 2028 but with an improved financial package that reflects his growing status and importance to the side. Boca have high hopes for Anselmino and believe he has what it takes to break into the Argentina national team. It’s not only United that are eyeing the central defender, AC Milan are also tracking his progress. Rio Negro add that whichever suitor wants Anselmino will now have to sit down with Juan Román Riquelme and his “football council” to negotiate a price for the player. The feeling was that £15 million is too cheap for European clubs that have very deep pockets. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Why I left Kaizer Chiefs for THIS new PSL club!
Why I left Kaizer Chiefs for THIS new PSL club!
Kaizer Chiefs have endured a nine-year trophy drought that has left many of their fans frustrated and hurt.  In that time, many have stuck by Chiefs, hoping the good days will soon come back to Naturena.  Others, however, have pulled a ‘Mama Joy’ on Chiefs and jumped ship to other clubs. For them the situation got unbearable and one of them is Phuti Chochi. Chochi is now supporting Sekhukhune United, after leaving Amakhosi. Speaking to KickOff.com he explains the shift.  Choci confirms ditching Chiefs “I used to support Kaizer Chiefs but changed because of their current performance. So, I decided to support my home team Sekhukhune as they need support from the people of Limpopo. They are not in the PSL to add numbers or to be relegated. They are there to compete, hence I feel they need our support. Since this is our third season, I started supporting Sekhukhune in their second season in the PSL. I started last season, to be exact, and it was an easy decision for me to switch to Sekhukhune as my relative Seun Ledwaba is a former player at Sekhukhune.” Said Chochi.  Chochi then discussed his happiness with the state of Sekhukhune, as opposed to Chiefs.  Happy with Sekhukhune “I’m very happy (With the Sekhukhune bosses). I think they are one of the best managements in the league, they are fully committed and always encourage players to do their best on the pitch. They are not too involved in the coach’s decisions.”  He also reserved special praise for coach Lehlohonolo Seema, who since been placed on special leave by Sekhukhune. “Lehlohonolo Seema, what a great coach we have, and he is still young. It’s not been that long since he retired, so he knows a lot about the needs of the current players. He is doing a very good job.” Chochi said.  Sekhukhune aren currently in 4th place while Chiefs languish in eighth. On the balance of that, it seems Chochi was justified in his move.

Liverpool Wolves & Jurgen Klopps euphoric 8-year rollercoaster ride Liverpool FC
Liverpool Wolves & Jurgen Klopps euphoric 8-year rollercoaster ride Liverpool FC
The day we all hoped would never come is finally upon us. After eight-and-a-half whirlwind years, Liverpool Football Club will bid farewell to the man who has returned them to the pinnacle of European football, Jurgen Klopp. For a final time, the German will occupy the Anfield dugout when his Liverpool side welcome Wolves to L4 on Sunday. While the final weeks of the 2023/2024 season haven’t exactly gone as we all hoped, the occasion will provide fans with an opportunity to wave off a true Kop legend who has seen it all since he first joined back in October 2015. This won’t be our first time hosting Wolves on the final day of the campaign, however. The Midlanders have visited twice before on the final weekend during Klopp’s tenure, including at the end of the 2018/2019 campaign. That match was also greeted with heightened anticipation, albeit for different reasons. Back in May 2019, Liverpool headed into the final day knowing victory could see them crowned Premier League champions for the first time, depending on Man City’s result down South. Though we would ultimately come up short, the timeline of events both before, during and after the match perfectly typifies the rollercoaster journey we’ve all been on since the German’s appointment. The lowest of lows only made us ever more grateful for the highs, moments which will forever remain engrained in our minds when we reflect on this era in years to come. The experiences and the Reds’ reactions to them only deepened the bond between the eleven on the pitch, the man at the helm and the thousands in the stands.   Wolves at Anfield, City at Brighton A truly remarkable season was approaching its conclusion, but whether Liverpool would capture their first major trophy under Klopp was still up in the air. An astonishing performance on the domestic front, which had already seen the Reds secure 94 points across 37 matches was only enough to leave them second in the Premier League table, one point behind league leaders Man City on 95. The Citizens were set for the long journey down to Brighton‘s Amex Stadium. Though Pep Guardiola’s men dropping points was unlikely, Liverpool were poised and ready to pounce should an opportunity present itself. Klopp’s men needed little encouragement. In the 17th minute at Anfield, Sadio Mane met Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s cross to fire home in front of the Kop. As things stood, the Reds were top of the Premier League. Your move, City. With Liverpool doing their part, jubilation turned to near disbelief on Merseyside when news began to filter through that Brighton had taken a lead over the reigning champions. The impossible, suddenly, appeared possible. There was still lots of football to be played, but could Klopp and Co. add another chapter, a defining chapter, to an already extraordinary season? Yes, they could, and would. But not on this day. In typical City fashion, the champions were level within a minute of Brighton‘s opener. Sergio Aguero, who had captured his club’s first-ever Premier League title seven years before, equalised at the Amex and paved the way for a comfortable City victory. Guardiola’s men would eventually romp to a 4-1 win, securing back-to-back league titles in the process.   Jurgen brings the ‘big two’ home Liverpool did their job, eventually winning 2-0 courtesy of another Mane strike in the second half, but ultimately the result, and the 97 points they had captured, wouldn’t prove enough. Many sides would allow their heads to drop under such circumstances, but not Jurgen’s Liverpool. For them, the season was not over. There was still a Champions League final to be played as Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham awaited in Madrid. Twelve months on from losing the previous year’s final in heart-breaking fashion, the Reds would have to pick themselves up from the league disappointment as they looked to capture a sixth European Cup. No small task, but this side was different to most. They had proven that five days before the Wolves clash, in a Champions League semi-final return against Barcelona. Despite a commendable performance at the Nou Camp six days before, the Reds left having been beaten 3-0 courtesy of a Luis Suarez strike and Lionel Messi double. The thought of going trophyless after all they had achieved was an unbearable thought for the Liverpool fanbase, but a comeback looked even less likely when both Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino were ruled out of the second leg through injury. Most had written the Reds off, except the man at the helm. “I would say it’s impossible, but because it’s you, we have a chance,” Klopp would tell his side ahead of kick-off. They did have a chance. To be specific, they had four. And they took them all to seal a historic 4-0 victory that stands as one of, if not the greatest, Anfield has ever seen. Suddenly, the league predicament became a little easier to swallow. The Reds carried the momentum forward into and beyond the Wolves game to eventually secure a 2-0 win over Spurs in the Spanish capital. Finally, in their fourth final under the German, Liverpool had won a major trophy under his stewardship. With all the heartbreak that had come before – in Kyiv and missing out on the league title in agonising fashion – the Reds’ triumph was made all the more joyous for it. The spirit shown during this period perfectly encapsulates Klopp’s reign. A journey, wrought with ups and downs, which ultimately gave us all the ride of a lifetime. Liverpool not only overcame their suffering during low points but found purpose in it. They used them to propel themselves further towards their goals, to push themselves on with a stubbornness and vigour that only champions can be made of. One need only look at the following season for further evidence. After being within touching distance of a first league title in over three decades, the Reds went one better in 2019/20. Winning 26 of their opening 27 matches of the season, Liverpool would finally win the Premier League for the first time. Klopp saw his name added to an illustrious list of managers to win league titles throughout the club’s history and made good on a promise he’d made when first putting pen to paper with the Reds over eight years ago. “When I sit here in four years, I think we’ll have won one title during this time,” he said in his announcement press conference. And there Liverpool was, in his fourth full season as manager, perched atop England’s top division once again.   More lows, followed by more highs Despite a difficult 2020/21 season, Liverpool would dust themselves off during the final 10 games to secure a third-placed finish, despite playing a large majority without any first-team centre-backs available. The following year would see a League Cup and FA Cup double. Even a quadruple looked a strong possibility, only for City to tease the Reds once again on the final day by going 2-0 down against Aston Villa before eventually winning 3-2. Another league title for Guardiola’s men coincided with a Liverpool victory over Wolves at Anfield. And once again, they were granted an opportunity to make history in the weeks that followed. Another Champions League final, this time against Real Madrid in Paris, was scheduled, but the occasion wasn’t to be for Klopp’s side. Despite dominating much of the affair, a Vinicius Jr goal was enough to see Los Blancos capture a record 14th European Cup and leave Liverpool pondering about what could have been. The result saw the start of a difficult period during Klopp’s tenure. Liverpool struggled to replicate their strong form from the previous year into the 2022/23 season. Missing out on Champions League football for the first time since 2016, the Reds languished to a fifth-place finish and would have to settle for a place in the Europa League. The manager later revealed he had been tempted to bow out midway through the season but was convinced to stay by his wife, Ulla. Determined to leave the club in as strong a position as possible, the German decided to have one last push in the Anfield hotseat. Deep down inside, he refused to give in once again. In typical Klopp fashion. “It’s not so important what people think when you come in, it’s much more important what people think when you leave.” – Jurgen Klopp, 2015. This season was viewed as an opportunity to bed in fresh acquisitions. Talk of a title charge seemed out of the question, yet Liverpool headed into March in a three-way race for the league. Results in April, however, saw three turn to two as the Reds dropped crucial points at Old Trafford, Goodison Park and suffered a rare loss at Anfield to mid-table Crystal Palace. Disappointment in the FA Cup and Europa League meant they would have to settle for a League Cup triumph back in February, when Klopp’s men, or boys in this instance, battled across 120 hard-fought minutes against another Pochettino side. For a season which offered so much promise to end in this way is a tough pill to swallow, particularly given the context of Jurgen’s impending departure. However, no rollercoaster ends on a high but leaves one chomping at the bit for one last ride. To experience the euphoria all over again. That’s how we, as fans, feel right now. As we feel the safety bar release from around our chest and come to terms with the fact that we are unable to strap ourselves back in for another lap. We laugh and cheer when recollecting the highs of Madrid, of lifting our first Premier League title and of glory-filled days at Wembley Stadium. And we also chuckle at the lows, where the coaster looked as though it had gone spiralling off-track never to return, only to be steered back in the right direction by a man who had been seeing the bigger picture all along. That is why we must enjoy Jurgen’s final Anfield outing on Sunday, as painful as it may be to say goodbye. For he, whenever faced with adversity as our manager, has always s...

Erik ten Hags job hangs in the balance decision now expected in two weeks Man United News And Transfer News
1 No matter what happens in the next two weeks, a storm of change is set to arrive at Manchester United. United’s remaining two Premier League fixtures and the FA Cup final feel like three finals for Erik ten Hag as he seeks to convince Sir Jim Ratcliffe of his ability to lead this team into the new era. The club faces a fight to qualify for the Europa League next season, while the FA Cup final could make it two trophies in two seasons for Ten Hag. On the other hand, a loss in all three, or even one, is likely to doom United to Conference League or without Europe altogether. The scale between success and failure after a wretched season hangs in the balance, much like Ten Hag’s own future. The Guardian reports that the chances of the Dutchman keeping his job are “50-50” which might seem like stating the obvious, but Ten Hag has repeatedly insisted that he will be here next season. More importantly, the report states that the final decision on his future will arrive in the next fortnight. That timeline lines up perfectly with the FA Cup final on May 26, after which INEOS can take a few days to assess the season holistically. It seems like their mind can be swayed by how United finish the season, especially as the team is likely to have many of its players back for the final. It was always expected that Ten Hag would be given the chance to manage the team in the final he got them to in the first place but recent results have found new lows. However, INEOS remain strong-willed and won’t take a decision till the season is over but at least fans now have a date by which they can expect the future of their club to become clearer. Which way will it be? Three games and the clock is ticking. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Orlando Pirates supporters won’t ever forget this player. Happy Jele has confirmed he is no longer a professional footballer. ORLANDO PIRATES: HAPPY JELE RETIRES Talking on Karabo Selebalo Phasha’s YouTube channel, the 37-year-old player from Middelburg in Mpumalanga revealed that he is no longer playing. 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 Former Orlando Pirates Captain Happy Jele CONFIRMS to me for the 1st time EVER that he has OFFICIALLY RETIRED from professional football. The Orlando Pirates legend left the Buccaneers in July 2022 after a remarkable 16 years wearing black and white. Jele had joined as a teenage from Walter Stars. The right-back, who later turned into a central defender, made 401 appearances for Orlando Pirates, while also winning eight trophies. His international career included two caps for South Africa’s U20s, as well as two Bafana Bafana call-ups. TROPHIES WON 2x DStv Premiership 2x MTN 8 2x Nedbank cup 2x Telkom KnockOut. BUCCANEERS TRIBUTE “After 16 amazing years with us, we bid farewell to our future hall-of-famer,” Orlando Pirates stated on 18 July 2022, as quoted by Times LIVE. “Our central defender and club captain, who has reached the end of his contract, will be leaving the club. This marks the end of Happy Jele’s momentous career with us. “Orlando Pirates can confirm that Happy Jele met with the chair of the club [Irvin Khoza] at the end of the 2021-2022 season to discuss his future. During these deliberations, which spanned a three-week period, the club discussed various job options available to the long- serving defender in a non-playing capacity. “Subsequent to these meetings, the 35-year-old was afforded time to go home and think about it. “Ordinarily, players are released at the end of the players’ contract but in Happy’s case, as he has a special place in the club, having served Pirates so professionally over the past 16 years, the chair specifically asked the player for his input. “A follow-up meeting was held two weeks later where Happy expressed his intention to continue playing football beyond the 2021-2022 season, an option that unfortunately is not available. “Happy arrived from the amateur club Walter Stars in 2006, as a lanky and unassuming 19-year-old. Today, he leaves a place he has called home for the past 16 years as a legend, captain, husband and father. “In those 16 years, he won eight trophies, made over 400 appearances and scored 18 goals. “Happy is a special character who has answered every call the club has made of him throughout the years, which is why he has a future at the club beyond his playing days. “Everyone at Orlando Pirates would like to express the enormous gratitude to Happy Jele and wish him the best of luck for the future,” the statement concluded.
