Won all Tests against the All Blacks: Still remember this Springbok?
Won all Tests against the All Blacks: Still remember this Springbok?
The Springboks and the All Blacks are the best rugby playing nations in the world, and the rivalry is massive!  This is also depicted in the number of Rugby World Cups both the Springboks and All Blacks have.  The Springboks are record four-time World Cup winners, moving ahead of their great rivals the All Blacks with three. They have also met twice in a Rugby World Cup final, in 1995 on South African soil, then in 2023 in France. The South Africans came up trumps on both occasions. Just like those two meetings, games between the two nations are often close and nerve wrecking.  Springboks vs All Blacks rivalry But as it stands on a head-to-head basis, it is the All Blacks who continue to have The Springboks’ number. In 106 clashes between the two proud rugby playing nations, the New Zealanders have won 62 while South Africa have emerged victorious 40 times. There have also been four stalemates, with the most recent one in the 2019 Rugby Championship, a tournament won by the Rassie Erasmus’s side.  With the record heavily favouring the All Blacks, there can’t be many Springboks who can boast never losing to them. But one such is ex-Bok cult hero Heinrich Brussow! The stocky open side flanker was a bit of an anomaly in the South African rugby system. A system traditionally known purely for physicality in its forward pack, saw the introduction of a modern day open side flank. A stocky figure who was a menace on the ground, as a fetcher.  Brussow is remembered for arguably being the only player in world rugby to have bullied All Black Richie McCaw. The legendary ex-New Zealand captain was known to be dominant in the breakdown, until he met the former Cheetahs man. He made his Springbok debut against England at Twickenham in 2008.  Brussow won all four Tests against the old foe Brussow played four times against the All Blacks, beating them on all occasions, both home and away. The first was in Bloemfontein on the 25th of July, with the Boys winning 28-19. Then in Durban on the 1st of August they won 31-19. The third was on 12th September in Hamiltion, Boks winning 32-29 and then a Man of the Match performance in a 18-5 win in 2011 in Gqeberha. Brussow would go on to win only 23 Test caps for the Springboks. In that time, however, he won the British and Irish Lions Series and the them Tri-Nations.

Liverpool fans have little sympathy for Arsenal after City treatment Iheanacho flashbacks Liverpool FC
It was not lost on Liverpool fans that Arsenal have now had close to the full Man City experience when it comes to the title race after Pep Guardiola’s side beat Tottenham 2-0. The Reds bowed out of the title race a number of weeks ago, shooting themselves in the foot to allow Arsenal and City to move on without them in pursuit of the top spot. With two games to go, the Gunners had ambitious hopes that their north London rivals, Tottenham, would take points off City in the penultimate game – but they should have known better. Liverpool have been here time and time again, and Arsenal even got their own ‘Kelechi Iheanacho’ moment when Son Heung-min shot straight at the ‘keeper with a chance to make it 1-1 with five minutes left. In the end, City won 2-0 on Tuesday evening to all but clinch their fourth successive title with one game remaining, and Reds fans didn’t have much sympathy – as expected! Pirates Mofokeng in Bafana squad for World Cup qualifiers
Pirates Mofokeng in Bafana squad for World Cup qualifiers
There is no place in the squad, however, for in-form Tshegofatso Mabasa. Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos on Wednesday named Orlando Pirates’ young star Relebohile Mofokeng in his preliminary squad for the upcoming Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe. There was no place in the 36-man squad, however, for the Buccaneers’ in-form striker Tshegofatso Mabasa. Mofokeng has been in superb form for the Buccaneers in 2024, with four goals and four assists in all competitions. Broos already spoke in March of how the 19 year-old had impressed him, and he has now been rewarded with a chance at making it into the final squad the vital qualifiers. Bafana will play Nigeria in Uyo on June 7 and Zimbabwe at the Free State Stadium on June 11, with Broos set to trim his squad in the coming weeks. Burnley striker Lyle Foster has also been named in the squad despite not playing for Bafana since October, after struggling with mental health issues. Foster has been playing regularly in the English Premier League with Burnley, but it remains to be seen if he feels ready to return to the international set-up, having written to the South African Football Association asking not to be considered for the Africa Cup of Nations finals in the Ivory Coast earlier this year. Mabasa has been in prolific scoring form for Pirates this year, scoring 12 times in all competitions since being recalled from a loan spell at Moroka Swallows. But Broos does have previous with the Buccaneers marksman, taking the striker off just 35 minutes into a Fifa World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia in October 2021. “I know it was a little disappointing for Tshegofatso but he had difficulties,” said Broos after the match. “We trained on it (the plan for Ethiopia) … but I do not think he really understood what we asked from him. And therefore we had to change him after half an hour.” Pirates’ Evidence Makgopa, who led the line so well for Bafana at the Afcon finals in the Ivory Coast, is in the squad, even though he has made only four appearances for Pirates as a substitute, without scoring, since returning from injury this month. Broos did find a place in his squad for talented Stellenbosch striker Devin Titus, who has also been in sparking form in the DStv Premiership. Bafana squad: Goalkeepers: Ronwen Williams, Bruce Bvuma, Ricardo Goss, Veli Mothwa. Defenders: Nyiko Mobbie, Innocent Maela, Given Msimango, Khuliso Mudau, Siyabonga Ngezana, Thabiso Monyane, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Mothobi Mvala, Terrence Mashego, Grant Kekana, Thapelo Morena, Aubrey Modiba, Tapelo Xoki, Thabo Maloisane. Midfielders: Teboho Mokoena, Bathusi Aubaas, Grant Margeman, Sphephelo Sithole, Jayden Adams Forwards: Themba Zwane, Patrick Maswanganyi, Tshepang Moremi, Evidence Makgopa, Mihlali Mayambela, Devin Titus, Mlondi Mbanjwa, Elias Mokweana, Percy Tau, Oswin Appollis, Iqraam Rayners, Lyle Foster, Relebohile Mofokeng

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has announced a preliminary squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against both Nigeria and Zimbabwe in June. Broos’ charges will take on Nigeria on 7 June before facing neighbours Zimbabwe on 11 June. Bafana Bafana will return to Bloemfontein for the first time since the 2010 FIFA World Cup. They last played in the city when they beat France 2-1 in the global FIFA tournament 14 years ago. “The gates at Free State Stadium will open at 15h00 and the tickets are priced at R50.00 for adults. Kids, scholars and students will pay R20.00 (school uniform and student cards required for over 12-year-olds). Tickets are available at TicketPro outlets, Spar, SuperSpar, Putco, Postnet etc,” the note concluded. INTEREST FROM EUROPE Meanwhile the Orlando Pirates winger from Sharpville, Gauteng could be lost to Europe next season, thanks to his wonderful ability to beat defenders at ease. According to the Rangers Review, the Scottish giants Rangers and Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg are keeping an eye on Mofokeng. English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers are also still in the picture after the Orlando Pirates star attended trials at the club in 2023. “Reports from Scouts in Attendance claim Rangers are on of a number of European teams interested in Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng,” Rangers Review reported. “They report that the Ibrox club are keeping tabs on the emerging talent, aged 19. He has already caught the eye of clubs in England. He had a trial at Premier League side Wolves, before also being offered the chance to impress at Reading. “Al-Ahly and Red Bull Salzburg are among the other clubs who hold an interest,” the report added about the Bucs youngster. How far can Mofokeng go beyond his short career with Orlando Pirates? Let us know in the comments section below.

Who has the biggest following in SA?
Who has the biggest following in SA?
Kaizer Chiefs have the biggest following of all the clubs in SA. Meanwhile, the Springboks are the most supported national team. For as long as I can remember, Amakhosi and the Boks have dominated headlines. Whether positive or negative, these two sporting brands have had millions of eyes drawn to their every move. Honing the media space, largely owed to their massive respective fan bases. So, with the digital age, alive and well, who has the most followers on social media? Let’s break it down. FACEBOOK: Kaizer Chiefs have 4.6 million followers on Facebook. In comparison, the Springboks have 2 million. INSTAGRAM: Chiefs have 940k followers on their official Instagram page (@kcfofficial) in comparison to the Springboks (@bokrugby) 1.2 million. TIK TOK: 141.6K vs 472.6K VERDICT: Chiefs have more than double the following on Facebook. However, the Springboks have more followers on Instagram (260 000 more) and on Tik Tok the national rugby giants have 331 000 more followers (more than double). In total, across all three platforms Amakhosi have roughly 5.68M followers in comparison to the Springboks 4.87M followers on social media. Therefore, the Soweto giants have more followers on social media and they are officially the most followed sports team on social media. However, it must be noted that the Boks have more followers on the more modern social media platforms. Whilst, almost half of Amakhosi’s online following comes from Facebook. AMAKHOSI STILL THE MOST FOLLOWED TEAM IN THE PSL Despite their poor run of form, they still have a larger following than Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns. Furthermore, they continue to dominate the headlines across the media. With fans passionate interest still alive and well. Unfortunately, it has been a frustrating time for fans with Amakhosi currently in a nine-year trophy drought. Meanwhile, Sundowns have just secured their seventh PSL title in a row. Meanwhile, the Bucs have won the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup since Amakhosi last tasted silverware.

Why was Seema put on special leave at Sekhukhune
Why was Seema put on special leave at Sekhukhune
Seema will see his current deal with Sekhukhune expire at the end of the current season. Sekhukhune United have placed coach Lehlohonolo Seema on a special leave, a source close to the DStv Premiership club has confirmed. Reports on Tuesday emerged suggesting Seema had been suspended for allegedly expressing his dissatisfaction over the terms of his new contract. ALSO READ: Pirates react to video of players allegedly discussing betting (video) Seema, who joined Babina Noko last November, will see his current deal with the club expire at the end of the current season and the parties have since opened talks over a new deal. Now a source close to the club has confirmed to Phakaaathi that Seema was indeed put on special leave, adding that the former Polokwane City coach wanted to include a certain clause in his contract that would have seen him pocket a lot of money should Babina Noko finish in the top four in the 2024/25 season. “Seema was told when he joined the club in November last year that a new contract would only be discussed at the end of the season. But because the club is currently doing well, he wanted to capitalise on the situation and demanded a meeting with the management. He was granted that meeting this week because the club had no midweek games,” said the source. Seema has done well since joining Babina Noko from Polokwane City in November last year and under his mentorship Sekhukhune are guaranteed a place in next season’s MTN8. They are fourth on the log with 42 points after 28 games. “Seema wanted a guarantee in his new contract that should the club finish in the top four next season, he should get at least R3-million, but when he was asked to wait until the end of the season to discuss his terms, he threw a tantrum and walked out of the meeting. That’s when a decision to put him on special leave was made,” added the source. ALSO READ: Chiefs chasing Angolan coach Santos – report Senior coach MacDonald Makhubedu and assistant coach Paulus Masehe are expected to take charge of the team for the remaining games against AmaZulu and Chippa United. Al Nassr have earmarked Bruno Fernandes as Cristiano Ronaldos successor Man United News And Transfer News
1 It has been a disastrous season for Manchester United with the club languishing in eighth place in the Premier League and in danger of missing out on Europe altogether. New co-owners INEOS are far from impressed and along with the manager Erik ten Hag, a lot of players could be moved on as part of a summer clearout as Sir Jim Ratcliffe eyes a revamp and a fresh start. Raphael Varane has already announced that he is leaving and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could join him as well. To add to that, big-name players like Casemiro and Marcus Rashford could also be sold in the summer. This season’s top-scorer and the best post-Sir Alex Ferguson signing Bruno Fernandes has also been linked with an exit even though the majority of fans would be devastated if the Portuguese leaves as he is among the few elite players at the club. Bruno’s future Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Inter Milan have all reportedly expressed interest while Saudi clubs are also in the fray but the attacking midfielder is expected to stay after holding discussions with the board. Talksport have now claimed that while the possibility of a departure in 2024 remains slim, Al Nassr will come back with a mega bid next year. With Cristiano Ronaldo currently 39, his footballing career is slowly but surely drawing to a close and the cash-rich Saudi Pro League are on the hunt for their next global icon. The United skipper could fill the void with the Saudi league executives keen to further tap into the Portuguese market when the next international TV rights are auctioned. “Bruno Fernandes has emerged as a potential future marquee signing for Saudi Arabian clubs, talkSPORT understands. “The Saudi Pro League has seen a huge influx of talent arrive since Cristiano Ronaldo signed for Al Nassr at the beginning of 2023. “It’s understood there is a big priority with the 39-year-old entering into his final year to bring in another marquee Portuguese signing. Al Nassr to come back in 2025 “Manchester United star Fernandes is a target and Al Nassr are a club to watch, but it’s unlikely a deal will happen this summer so a new approach in 2025 may happen.” While Fernandes’ signature might prove elusive in the upcoming summer window, there is much more confidence surrounding a potential deal for the departing Varane and Casemiro. United would do well to earn more than half of what they paid for the Brazilian. Saudi clubs can certainly afford it but can INEOS prove to be ruthlessly efficient when it comes to sales as opposed to the incompetent Glazers? Only time will tell. As for the Portuguese magician, he is the only standout player who deserves to stay as long as possible. But the club will need to match his ambitions sooner rather than later. How to stop Sundowns John Maduka
How to stop Sundowns John Maduka
Mamelodi Sundowns marked a record 51 matches unbeaten on Tuesday. The event was a 2-0 win over Royal AM. Losing coach John Maduka has sent a message to the rest of the league. DSTV PREMIERSHIP: ROYAL AM 0-2 MAMELODI SUNDOWNS A spectacular goal from Peter Shalulile in the first half was followed by an expert finish by Lesiba Nku. The result at the Harry Gwala Stadium left Sundowns with 69 points and two matches remaining. Meanwhile, Royal AM are just two points above safety with two games to go. Sundowns’ Remaining Games Stellenbosch FC – away – Saturday 18 May TS Galaxy – away – Saturday 25 May. Royal AM’s Remaining Games Chippa United – home – Saturday 18 May Moroka Swallows – away – Saturday 25 May. HOW TO PLAY AGAINST RULANI MOKWENA’S TEAM Speaking to the media before meeting Sundowns on Tuesday, Royal AM coach Maduka said his team needed to be defensively disciplined against the champions. “Sundowns are a team that believes in themselves and Coach Rulani Mokwena and his technical team have done a very good job. They don’t play for a draw in every game because they go for a win,” Maduka told the Citizen. “It seems like it’s in their system and to stop them you have to be tactically disciplined and that’s the one way that you can be able to stop them. You can allow them to have the ball in certain areas but you don’t allow them to come in your half because if they do that, they will cause so many problems. Furthermore, Maduka said teams have to be intentional when they have the ball against Sundowns. “Again, when you have the ball, you must use it because if you don’t use it well, they will press you immediately. We were not far in the last game from getting a point and we can build on where we left off before we conceded. “You have to defend well and you can’t just take the game to Sundowns because you will open on the other side. They play in every moment of the game and they can also play in transition and combination play. Tactical discipline has to be there and the concentration has to be at a maximum and that is the only way that you can stop them,” Maduka concluded. Having sealed a record seventh DStv Premiership title in a row, is there any current team that can stop Sundowns from lifting an eighth league title next season? Sundowns close in on yet another record following Royal AM win
‘There are two ways to look at it because history has no blank pages and there’s going to be something written about this group,’ said Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena. Mamelodi Sundowns have broken just about every DStv Premiership record you can think of this season. They are on the verge of yet another milestone with three games remaining this campaign. The Brazilians are on 69 points after 27 games and one more victory will see them set a new record for most points accumulated in a 30-game league season. ALSO READ: Pirates react to video of players allegedly discussing betting (video) The current record of 71 points was set by the Sundowns team that played under former coach Pitso Mosimane in the 2015/16 season, where they recorded 22 wins, five draws and lost three matches. Masandawana are still unbeaten in this campaign with 21 victories, while six games ended in draws. Sundowns have also stretched their overall unbeaten run to 51 league matches and Rulani Mokwena offered an interesting response when asked if his record-breaking team is being appreciated enough by the South African public. “There are two ways to look at it because history has no blank pages and there’s going to be something written about this group. I don’t know what is going to be written but there will be something written about them,” Mokwena said. “I watch a lot of national geographic and what happens in the wildlife. There’s an interesting story I saw the other day about the story of the crow and eagle. If you go into it, you will find that the crow will always be on the back of the eagle biting its neck but the eagle never fights, but it ascends to greater heights up until the crow loses oxygen and falls off. “That for me is a big lesson in life that you may have people on your back that are maybe not appreciating you and talking negatively about you. The reality is that what you should be doing instead of using that energy to fight those people, you should be like the eagle and ascend to even greater heights because you eventually get to a point that you’re so high they can’t maintain it anymore and start to fall off.” Flexibility Despite a number of his first choice regulars being rested due to what has been a gruelling schedule, Mokwena praised his side’s flexibility following the 2-0 win over Royal AM on Tuesday. “At Sundowns we don’t train for 11 players, we train the entire team so there are certain principles an schemes that we adopt and everyone knows what they have to do in certain moments and for some it takes longer than others that’s why it’s not always easy for the adaption of players who join us in January without a pre-season,” he said. ALSO READ: Zamalek legend urges club to sign Bafana star Percy Tau “To be honest with you, the approach that we take a technical team is that we don’t just train the team but the group in order to understand the principles of how we want to play.”

Nwabalis childhood dream was to play for Kaizer Chiefs
Nwabalis childhood dream was to play for Kaizer Chiefs
‘In the beginning of this season he wanted to play for Kaizer Chiefs,’ said Chippa goalkeeper coach Sean Louw. Chippa United and Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali’s ‘dream’ has always been to play for Kaizer Chiefs, according to a teammate at the Chilli Boyz. Nwabali has long-been linked with a move to Amakhosi, though a move abroad seems more likely following the 27 year-old’s stellar performances in helping Nigeria all the way to the Africa Cup of Nations final. It does seem like joining Chiefs would give Nwabali a chance to play for his boyhood heroes, however. “Between you and me his childhood dream was to always play for Kaizer Chiefs, but even me, my childhood dream was to play for Kaizer Chiefs, I don’t blame him,” Chippa goalkeeper coach Sean Louw told SABC Sport. “In the beginning of this season he wanted to play for Kaizer Chiefs, but I said to him before you speak to Kaizer Chiefs, first go to Afcon because you will win the Afcon and you will be worth so much more than (you would be) at Kaizer Chiefs with all due respect.” Saudi links Nwabali has been linked with moves to English Championship side QPR and Saudi Pro League team Al Ettifaq, after he conceded just four goals in seven matches at the Afcon, and was the hero in the semifinal penalty shootout against Bafana Bafana. “I would love for him to join Steven Gerrard in Saudi Arabia, and I can give many reasons why, number one – it’s Arab money and number two you are coached by the legend of the game who is willing to understand how the game is being played now,” added Louw.

James Milner chasing incredible all-time record after signing for 23rd season! Liverpool FC
James Milner chasing incredible all-time record after signing for 23rd season! Liverpool FC
James Milner‘s ridiculous longevity in the topflight will see him chase down an all-time Premier League record after signing a new contract at Brighton for 2024/25. Now 38, Milner is showing no signs of wanting to hang up his boots having put pen to paper on a one-year deal that will see him extend his career into a 23rd season. The midfielder left the Reds last summer after 332 appearances, 230 of which were played in the Premier League – and he has since made 20 outings for Brighton. It is there that Milner leapfrogged Ryan Giggs (632) as the player with the second-most Premier League appearances of all time, with Milner now outright second on 634. Only Gareth Barry has played more times in his career (653), and that leaves quite the task on Milner’s hands next season if he is to take the all-time record off his former team-mate. Liverpool’s former No. 7 would need to feature 20 times in the league for Brighton next season, which equates to 52.6 percent of their campaign – he’s managed just 15 in 2023/24. The 38-year-old has been sidelined with a thigh injury since February but is already focused on his role for 2024/25. After signing his new deal, Milner told Brighton‘s club website: “I am as driven as I’ve ever been and I’m excited for next season. “I really enjoyed the first half of this season as the club played in Europe for the first time, while the second half has personally been disappointing with a couple of injuries, but I will be ready for the start of next season.” Milner made his debut for Leeds at the age of just 16 in the 2002/03 season, and he has played in every campaign of the Premier League since! The three-time Premier League winner will be without Adam Lallana at Brighton next season, though, after it was announced that the former Red will leave the south coast side in the summer.

Royal AMs Maduka confident of avoiding playoffs
“We still have two games to play and they are difficult games of course,” Maduka said. With Richards Bay breathing down their neck, Royal AM head coach John Maduka insists that they won’t be sucked into the DStv Premiership relegation-promotion playoffs with two games remaining.  ALSO READ: Man City do feel the tension of title race, says Guardiola Only two points separate the two KwaZulu-Natal sides. Both Royal AM (29 points) and the Natal Rich Boyz (27 points), who recorded a 1-0 upset against Orlando Pirates last Saturday, will be hoping to capitalise on any slip ups in a bid to avoid the mini-league playoff system at the end of the season. Cape Town Spurs were automatically relegated back to the Motsepe Foundation Championship following Richards Bay’s surprise win over the Buccaneers at Orlando Stadium. Maduka is adamant his charges will put up a fight in the last two rounds of league matches. “There’s nothing much that we can do, we’re positive that we won’t go into the playoffs. It’s something that players were talking about that if there’s something that they don’t want to do is to play in the playoffs,” Maduka said following the 2-0 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Tuesday evening. “They (the playoffs) take a lot and we saw with Spurs, it’s not like they are a bad team but straight after the playoffs,  they came to play in the PSL so it’s not easy because again it has been a long season with players who are used to playing week in and week out. If we go into the playoffs it will be difficult for us so in our thinking, we’re positive that we won’t go there because it’s still in our hands. “We still have two games to play and they are difficult games of course. We have a home game against Chippa United and it’s a game that we must win. We can’t wait for others to do it for us and we must do it ourselves. One good thing that I keep saying is that it’s in our hands because we have two points over Richards Bay so it’s all up to us.” ALSO READ: Sundowns’ Mbule credits teamwork for Royal AM win Royal AM next face Chippa United before an away assignment to Moroka Swallows. Meanwhile, Richards Bay will make the trip to Western Cape for a clash against Cape Town City in their next match before wrapping up the campaign at home to Stellenbosch FC.

Orlando Pirates resigned to losing star on one condition
Orlando Pirates resigned to losing star on one condition
Orlando Pirates are bracing themselves for some high-profile exits this winter but will look to make them financially viable. Orlando Pirates star Mofokeng will be next to leave According to football agent Braden Proctor, via SoccerLaduma, Relebohile Mofokeng will be the next big name to leave South African shores and try his hand in Europe or elsewhere in Africa. There are rumours that Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic, RB Salzburg in Austria and Egypt’s Al Ahly are all monitoring the teenager’s situation. He also went on trial at English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers. Pirates know deep down that a move away from the club might be inevitable for Mofokeng, but they still hold a strong bargaining position. The Sea Robbers could do worse than drumming up interest in the star, who’s under a long contract with them, to create a bidding war. Extracting the maximum value for their prized asset is non-negotiable. A Briefly report, however, indicates that Pirates aren’t ready to let him leave without it making sense for them on financial grounds: “Mofokeng is highly rated at Orlando Pirates, and the club feel he is somebody who can become the future of the club. The coach has previously spoken highly of him, and they know there is interest from other clubs, but for now, he is part of the team, and they want to keep him. Of course, you cannot tell the future, but for now, Mofokeng is a Pirates player.” Orlando Pirates fans are expectant on Soweto Derby Day. Image: BackpagePix Mofokeng’s season in a nutshell 19-year-old Relebohile Mofokeng has slotted seamlessly into the Pirates first team. Naturally a number 10, he’s made the left-sided attacking midfield role his own with some dynamic and direct performances. Mofokeng has three goals and five assists from 24 league appearances this term and looks at home in the spotlight. It speaks volumes for his frighteningly advanced maturity levels. Seemingly unfazed by the pressure, Mofokeng now has admirers further afield. That’s no surprise. Relebohile Mofokeng with Orlando Pirates against Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Al Ahly enter race for Orlando Pirates wonderkid
Al Ahly enter race for Orlando Pirates wonderkid
Al Ahly have reportedly entered the race to sign Orlando Pirates wonderkid Relebohile Mofokeng whose future continues to hog the headlines. The Sharpville-born starlet went for a two-week long trial at Wolves earlier this season, and while he impressed, he still waiting to hear from them. Now, according to Egyptian publication, Kingfut, Al Ahly are keen to take Mofokeng away from Pirates, meaning they want him to stay in African. Furthermore, the publication reports that Anthony Modeste and Aliou Dieng could leave Al Ahly, and thus, creating space for the club to sign at least two foreign internationals. And that’s where the interest in Mofokeng surfaces, but whether or not Al Ahly will be successful in their pursuit remains to be seen. Should they be successful, Mofokeng would join South African-born star Percy Tau while also following in the footsteps of Phakamani Mahlambi. Mahlambi was the first ever South African-born player to sign for Al Ahly from Bidvest Wits during the 2017-18 season. However, his stint at Al Ahly was brief after his contract was terminated due issues relating to off-field behaviour. AL AHLY WANT TO DO TRANSFER BUSINESS WITH ORLANDO PIRATES “Entering the race for his signature is also Egyptian and African giants Al Ahly who are rumoured suitors for the player as they set to extend their dominance over the titles,” reads part of the report. “The Red Devils already have South African star Percy Tau in their ranks, having also had Phakamani Mahlambi for a short spell during the 2017/18 season.” “Al Ahly are understood to be set to let go of Frenchman Anthony Modeste as well as Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng in the summer, which would allow the club to sign two new foreign players to their squad,” concluded the report. WHAT’S NEXT FOR RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG? Having already tasted European football during his trial with Wolves, it would make sense for Mofokeng to want to go outside the African continent. Furthermore, the perception is that European clubs would pay more transfer fees to lure Mofokeng from Pirates. However, Al Ahly are known for their spending spree, and they may not be turned away by Pirates’ asking price of Mofokeng if they are really interested.

Man Citys hearing for 115 Premier League charges expected in next few months Liverpool FC
Man Citys hearing for 115 Premier League charges expected in next few months Liverpool FC
It has been more than 15 months since Man City were charged with 115 charges of financial breaches, and an independent commission is expected to hear the case in the “next few months.” In February 2023, Man City were charged by the Premier League for 115 instances of rule breaches following a four-year investigation into alleged offences starting from 2009/10. The charges allege that Man City cheated, and if we are to simplify it, it allowed them to sign more and better players than they would normally have been able to under the league’s rules. It taints and has tainted all they have achieved, and with the likes of Everton and Nottingham Forest having already been punished, the clamour for City’s verdict is growing. Sky News’ sports correspondent, Rob Harris says “the Premier League have indicated that a hearing is coming in the next few months, we expect.” As Man City try to land a fourth title in a row, there will be some asking the state of play in the Premier League case while it remains unresolved. Briefly updated pic.twitter.com/p4cCH10CZD — Rob Harris (@RobHarris) May 14, 2024 Harris also states that “City insist they have got an irrefutable body of evidence to prove their case,” which is ironic considering 68 of their charges relate to a failure to provide accurate information. If the evidence is so irrefutable, why are they in this position in the first place? Earlier this year, Premier League chief executive Richard Masters stated that “a date is set for that proceeding” against City, but we remain in the dark over the exact time period. It is still unknown what punishments City could face if found guilty in what has been described as an unprecedented situation. Points deductions, the stripping of their titles and relegation have all been discussed since the charges were handed down, but we are still clearly some time away from finding out. The independent commission, who will oversee the case, has limitless power and unlike in 2020, when City went to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to overturn their UEFA ban, they cannot go back to CAS. They could, however, appeal and that would trigger a new hearing and drag it out once again – think we all have money on this happening if they’re found guilty. City are on the cusp of their fourth league title in a row, but those 115 charges are still hanging over their head and rightly tainting every triumph.

Tactical Preview: Manchester United vs Newcastle United Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United entertain Newcastle United this Wednesday evening in the final Premier League game at Old Trafford this season. Should United fail to beat their visitors, it will almost certainly mean no European football for Erik ten Hag’s side next year. Therefore, it could well be the Dutchman’s last game in the dugout at the Theatre of Dreams after a wretched campaign which has left United languishing closer to midtable than the top of the league. Ten Hag is contending with a huge injury list tonight, as he has for the majority of the season, so tactical discussions will depend who can pull themselves off the treatment table. A turbulent season has descended into pure chaos in recent weeks with Ten Hag fielding patch up XI’s, desperate to salvage something from the campaign and save his job in Manchester in the process. United were a touch more solid in the recent defeat to Arsenal, yet still looked way off the pace in the 0-1 defeat to Mikel Arteta’s men. Should Ten Hag revert to his erratic man-to-man style tonight, it will lead to chances galore and United will just hope their front men can catch fire. With Bruno Fernandes absent, United will likely look to bypass midfield when in possession and get Alejandro Garancho and Antony into areas they can cause damage. Rasmus Hojlund has fed off scraps for the most part of his maiden campaign in a red shirt and he will need to find a way to get himself involved in the game to cause an issue tonight. On their day, the front three do possess the ability to get goals and isolating their wide men against Newcastle’s fullback’s will be the best chance of getting a result here. Casemiro’s disastrous recent performances at centre-back should see him dropped to the bench or, at the very least, back into his natural midfield role with the fit again Willy Kambwala likely to partner Jonny Evans in defence. The mix of experience and youth will be tasked with keeping Callum Wilson or Alexander Isak (or potentially both) quiet but United’s fullback’s will be key to stopping the major threat of Eddie Howe’s men. Anthony Gordon has been Newcastle’s best player this season and given Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s defensive qualities, he will play at right-back to combat Gordon and allow Diogo Dalot to continue on the left. Dalot will also be asked to move into midfield to create an overload in the middle of the park as he did against Arsenal, which did cause the Gunners problems at times. Any kind of tactical discipline seems to have been replaced with a playground-like approach over the last few months and United will look to win the game in moments rather than with control of the ball. Ten Hag and the player will be desperate to end the season at Old Trafford on a high note and pick up some confidence as they trudge toward to the massive FA Cup final against Manchester City at the end of the month. Explained: The real reason why Jurgen Klopp was spotted alone at Anfield Liverpool FC
Jurgen Klopp was spotted taking in the sights of Anfield by himself on Tuesday, but the real reason for his visit has now been explained. We’re into the final week of Klopp’s tenure at Liverpool – it is hard to believe we’re at this point already! The tribute and farewells are well and truly in motion, and that was the case late on Tuesday. The manager was spotted standing in the centre circle at Anfield and on the Kop by himself, leaving many on social media to speculate he was saying a private goodbye. What’s the German word for, “I’m not crying, you’re crying”? ?pic.twitter.com/9CDu9LALEJ — Men in Blazers (@MenInBlazers) May 14, 2024 In actual fact, Klopp was at the ground for an event with the club’s staff as they looked to thank him for all he has done after spending close to nine years on Merseyside. His full collection of trophies were proudly put on display, all six of them, and a Q&A also took place as Klopp and the club’s staff mutually thanked one another for the journey they’ve been on. The event was described as “emotional” and “an absolute privilege” on social media by some of those who attended – it will be a memory that stays with them, and they’ll have plenty of group photos to look back on too. What an amazing human being.” It will be one of many touching goodbyes for Klopp, who is anticipating a very emotional weekend when he says goodbye to a full-capacity Anfield after the final game against Wolves. He spoke to the BBC about the fans after the draw at Villa: “I have no doubt about our relationship. I appreciate that a lot. “I can’t yet put it really into words because I have to protect myself a little bit. The emotions will come out.” You won’t be the only one in tears, Jurgen!

Kaizer Chiefs legend urges club to sign Sundowns star
Kaizer Chiefs legend Brian Baloyi believes there’s only one goalkeeper capable of replacing Itumeleng Khune at Naturena. According to the former Bafana Bafana star, the Glamour Boys must replace experience with experience. Khune’s future at the club is under the spotlight after a disaster 2022/2023 campaign. The veteran goalkeeper was suspended by the club in December due to off-field issues. Since returning, Khune has fallen down the pecking order under Cavin Johnson with Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen sitting ahead of him. And now, Kaizer Chiefs legend Brian Baloyi feels it’s time to move on from Khune. Take a look at Baloyi’s ideal replacement below. Onyango must replace Khune at Kaizer Chiefs – Baloyi According to Baloyi, 39-year-old Ugandan star Denis Onyango is the perfect new addition to the struggling Amakhosi team. “We have Itumeleng Khune, but we don’t know what’s going to happen with him. So you need an Onyango with vast experience, and he can give you two or three seasons,” Kaizer Chiefs legend Brian Baloyi told FARPost. “Same way that Arthur Baartman did; may his soul rest in peace. He came in and started pushing Khune to a point where he started playing regularly. “You need someone like that, someone who will come in and push these young players so that they lift up their game. If Kaizer Chiefs were to want to sign a goalkeeper now, I will say sign Onyango.” In other news, former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Ntokozo Sikhakhane has urged the club to release one of their struggling midfielders. Sikhakhane, a midfielder who wore the Amakhosi jersey between 2005 and 2007, believes Siyethemba Sithebe should return to his former club, AmaZulu. Sithebe joined the Glamour Boys at the beginning of last season; however, he’s struggled to get going at the mighty Amakhosi. With a cloud of uncertainty hovering over his Kaizer Chiefs career, Sikhakhane believes Sithebe simply isn’t good enough for the Glamour Boys. Chiefs urged to release Sithebe “They can release him. In games that he has played for Kaizer Chiefs, there’s nothing special he has done,” Sikhakhane told FARPost. “And I still believe that he’s not the top midfielder; he’s just a player. But because Chiefs, they just sign any player. Once you shine at Santos, they bring you in; therefore once you shine at AmaZulu, they bring you. “They don’t look at whether you’re going to fit in their style or in their structure. So, for Sithebe, he hasn’t been playing for two years, and he can’t prove himself in the last ten games. What was he doing all along? I think he’d do well at AmaZulu. I’d also advise him to go back.” Final two Kaizer Chiefs fixtures revealed Chiefs host Polokwane City on Saturday. They then travel to the Mother City to face Cape Town Spurs on 25 May for their final match of the season. Where will Kaizer Chiefs finish on the log standings? Let us know your predictions in the comments section below.

The Zamalek board should fight to sign him because his contract with Al-Ahly is nearing its end,” added Mido. The latest PSL transfer rumours: Orlando Pirates to lose out to Stellies
Four unbreakeable Orlando Pirates records
Four unbreakeable Orlando Pirates records
Orlando Pirates are undoubtedly a club steeped in history with a proud and rich tradition of success and excellence. The Sea Robbers have enjoyed having standout stars in their midst and have also assembled some of the great PSL teams. Orlando Pirates, have a long history of success, having won the National Professional Soccer League title in 1971, 1973, 1975, and 1976, the National Soccer League title in 1994, and the Premier Soccer League title four times in 2001, 2003, 2011, and 2012.  Their 2010/2011 season as dubbed ‘the Happy Season’ as they swept to four titles claiming the league, Nedbank Cup, MTN 8 and Telkom Knockout in the same campaign. Four Orlando Pirates club records that won’t be broken any time soon Some records are unlikely to be broken simply because the structure of the domestic campaign has changed a lot. Others aren’t in danger because of changes to how the team actually operates. Most PSL goals for Orlando Pirates Bucs aren’t exactly banging them in at a rate of knots and they don’t have a natural goalscorer in their midst right now. As things stand the official club record is held by Benedict Vilakazi, who has a total of 52 PSL goals to his name. Between 1999 and 2007, Vilakazi was in great form for Pirates scoring a total of 58 goals in 170 matches. His career was rocked by scandals though, and after leaving Pirates he wouldn’t regain the same top form. The chances of this record being broken were seriosuly dminished when Pirates sold their current leading-scorer, Thembinkosi Lorch, to Sundowns. Kermit Erasmus (26) and Vincent Pule (23) have the most league goals in the squad at the time of writing. Most goals in a season There isn’t really a reason that this record should be out of reach other than Pirates’ struggle to find goal-scorers. Dennis Lota set the mark of 23 goals in a season back in the 1999/2000 campaign. Lota tragically passed away in 2014 at the age of just 40 after contracting malaria. As things stand at time of writing, Zakhele Lepasa’s 10 goals this campaign leads the way for Pirates in 2023/2024. Most appearances Happy Jele holds the current appearance record for Orlando Pirates having just cracked 400 before he daparted the club. Innocent Maela currently ranks as the player in the squad with the most Pirates’ appearances to his name with 184. Lucky Lekgwathi had been the leader in appearances before he was surpassed by Jele. Barring an unexpected return to Mayfair for Jele this record looks safe for some time. Most international caps while at Orlando Pirates The legendary Teko Modise earned 58 of his 66 Bafana Bafana caps while at Orlando Pirates. That cap record doesn’t appear to be in any great danger although we might see it go abroad. Namibia’s Deon Hotto could be a player that still earns a number of international caps while he is at Pirates. The likes of Patrick Maswanganyi and Monnapule Saleng could still play a lot of matches for Bafana but it remains to be seen how long the talents remain at Mayfair.

Teun Koopmeiners: Blow for Man United as midfield target gives Juventus approval to sign him Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United midfielder target Teun Koopmeiners has reportedly given Juventus the green light to go ahead and sign him if they can agree a deal with Atalanta. Koopmeiners is understood to be a player on United’s list of possible midfield reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window. The middle of the park is an area of the pitch Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS could bolster, especially with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen increasingly looking to be on their way out of the club. Midfielders don’t often come much better than Koopmeiners has been this season. The Dutchman has been a sensational component for Atalanta this season. The player has managed an impressive 12 goals and five assists in 32 Serie A appearances. Across all competitions, he has notched 15 goals and seven assists. Koopmeiners himself previously opened up on the transfer speculation surrounding him and admitted he would be keen on a move to a bigger club. He also said that he could brave the English rain for one or two clubs he likes. If it’s rain he wants, he’s likely to get plenty of it in Manchester, as seen by the pouring over the weekend as United suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Arsenal. On that occasion vs. the Gunners, the Reds could have certainly done with someone of Koopmeiners’ abilities. It’s not only Erik ten Hag’s side that are eyeing the 26-year-old. Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle are also believed to be admirers of his. However, all of them, including United could be set for a massive disappointment if a fresh update by Tutto Mercato is anything to go by. The Italian publication explains that Juventus have taken a “decisive lead” in the pursuit of Koopmeiners after “courting” him for months. The Old Lady have already initiated talks with the player’s agent and have even offered him a net salary of €4m per year (including bonuses), up from the €2.8m annual wages he currently earns in Bergamo. Juve are prepared to hand Koopmeiners a contract running until 2028 with an option to extend it by an extra year. Tutto Mercato further state, “On the other hand, Juve has received the approval of the former Az Alkmaar player in the face of a possible transfer.” “In Koopmeiners’ mind, there is the desire to make the big leap after the amazing three years spent at the Nerazzurri [Atalanta]” The Dutchman’s situation and how it develops is certainly one for all United fans to keep a close eye on. Stellenbosch keen on signing Bafana Bafana and Pirates star!
Stellenbosch FC are reportedly plotting a move for an Orlando Pirates midfielder! Steve Barker’s side have undoubtedly been this season’s surprise package. The Cape side lifted the Carling Knockout Cup and currently sit in second position on the log standings. Stellenbosch have successfully qualified for continental football next season. Depending on whether they finish in second position or third, Barker’s side will either feature in the CAF Champions League or CAF Confederation Cup. Going into Africa will take a massive toll on the club and reports suggest they’re looking at bringing in quality reinforcements. According to the latest transfer gossip, Steve Barker is keen on signing Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana midfielder Thabang Monare to bolster his midfield! Since the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in January, Monare is yet to feature for Jose Riveiro’s side. The player’s contract comes to an end in June and further reports suggest no contract extension talks have taken place just yet. Orlando Pirates midfielder wanted by Stellenbosch? “Stellies are believed to be monitoring Thabang Monare’s situation at Pirates with keen interest, as they harbour an intention to bring him to the Western Cape next season, possibly to fill the void left by Darrel Matsheke,” a Kick Off report read. “The Winelands outfit is facing the potential of playing in one of the CAF competitions next season. They are, ironically, in a neck-and-neck race for second spot in the DStv Premiership.” Thabang Monare has deleted all his Orlando Pirates pictures on Instagram. It looks like the club won't renew his contract at the end of the season. pic.twitter.com/aMH6tIUCML — Xhosa is ® Taka Tina (@TakaTina1) May 9, 2024 In other news, Orlando Pirates have reportedly secured the services of talented SuperSport United defender Kegan Johannes for next season. Despite being just 23 years of age, Johannes already has over 70 top-flight appearances to his name. The speedy fullback made a name for himself at Ajax Cape Town (now Cape Town Spurs) before joining SuperSport United in 2021. According to the latest reports, Jose Riveiro’s side have swooped in to sign the talented defender in a big-money move! Johannes had recently signed a new contract extension at SuperSport United, meaning Orlando Pirates had to fork out the big bucks for their target. Bucs reportedly land talented PSL defender “SuperSport United defender Kegan Johannes is on his way to join Orlando Pirates next season,” a Sportswire report read. “Pirates are therefore aiming to strengthen their squad for their upcoming CAF club competition campaign next season. They have already secured qualification through their Nedbank Cup final appearance against Mamelodi Sundowns on 1 June at Mbombela Stadium. “Sportswire has been told the deal is done. Johannes would be joining the club he also scored against in a DStv Premiership match at Orlando Stadium in March 2022.” Kegan Johannes (22) vs Richards Bay 90 min played 35/46 passes completed = 76.1% 3 long balls completed 3/3 accurate crosses 3 clearances 3 interceptions 5 tackles 8 ground duels won 4 aerial duels won 2 fouls won A very underrated player in my opinion pic.twitter.com/igPlupsr4r — SA Football 1st (@RSAFutbol) August 5, 2023 Is it time for Monare to leave Orlando Pirates? Oswin Appollis putting Kaizer Chiefs interest out of his mind
Oswin Appollis putting Kaizer Chiefs interest out of his mind
Promising young star Oswin Appollis has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates but says he remains focused on his task at Polokwane City. Something of a budding journeyman striker, Appollis has hit top form at Rise and Shine this term. Kaizer Chiefs target not noting transfer buzz That form has drawn interest from the biggest clubs in the country. However, Appollis isn’t going to have his head turned by a few column inches. “Ja no comment on any of that,” Appollis replied to iDiski Times when asked about the transfer rumours.  “My job now is just to play for Polokwane City, and do great, and continue helping the team, wherever the team’s gonna be in the next few years.” Still, links to the Soweto giants persist. Those rumours will continue and will spread to any striker who hits a purple patch, given how both Pirates and Chiefs are struggling to find the net. While Appollis might not be thinking about moving on, the right offer could spark interest in a deal from Polokwane City’s point of view. Will the Soweto Giants come knocking? Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs have not put in an offer for the striker at this stage but are believed to have put out their feelers. “Pirates and Chiefs are interested in Appollis. “And the good thing for them, or any other interested club, is that Polokwane City is open to selling,” a source told Soccer Laduma.  “The club won’t stand in the player’s way and for them, it will be a matter of cashing in.  “This applies to any player that they were taking a chance on when signing. Appollis is a talented youngster with a lot of potential, but at the time of his signing, he needed a fresh start. He needed that in the big league, and Polokwane City was willing to offer him that opportunity. He has done well, and the club won’t stand in his way if there is an opportunity for him to grow further.” Sundowns take note Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi is a known admirer of Appolis. He praised the striker after his efforts at AFCON. “This Appollis, I believe he could’ve done so much more for us had he had more opportunities at this tournament,” he said as per Goal. “He could’ve even had an assist in this match. It would’ve been nice to see (Jayden) Adams in this match because I do believe that learning would’ve helped. “We may have lost the cup but I think we could’ve learnt some lessons.”

Predicted Man United XI vs Newcastle United: Casemiro back in midfield Man United News And Transfer News
Predicted Man United XI vs Newcastle United: Casemiro back in midfield Man United News And Transfer News
1 Lisandro Martinez is fit to join the Manchester United squad for today’s penultimate Premier League game against Newcastle United, but is unlikely to start. After such a long layoff, it seems likely that manager Erik ten Hag will want to focus on bringing Martinez’ fitness up for the FA Cup final by easing him back in over the next couple of games. Ten Hag said at his pre-match press conference that Willy Kambwala could be fit and so, after Casemiro’s miserable temporary spell as a centre half, we think Kambwala will play an hour alongside Jonny Evans, before Martinez is given 30 minutes. Although it might be tempting to rest Casemiro altogether, he is more likely to return to the midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo. Elsewhere in defence, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are all still absent. Ten Hag says Raphael Varane might be ready for the weekend but today’s game comes too soon for him. Andre Onana will be in goal, with Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka the full backs. The manager also said Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford could be fit for tomorrow. We are predicting Fernandes will make it but Rashford, who is a shade flakier, will not. Amad Diallo impressed against Arsenal on Sunday and should keep his place, so we think the front four will be Amad, Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund. Anthony Martial may or may not be fit and may or may not be on the bench. Nobody seems to care any more. Other options in midfield are Sofyan Amrabat, Scott McTominay and Christian Eriksen. Antony is another alternative on the wing, as of course if Rashford if he does make it through the pain barrier. Here, then, is our predicted XI for tonight’s 8pm kick-off: Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Premier League to bring in clearer sanctions for overspending clubs Liverpool FC
Premier League to bring in clearer sanctions for overspending clubs Liverpool FC
A more transparent sanction framework is set to form part of the new Premier League squad cost rules, the PA news agency understands. Clubs spending 115 per cent of revenue or more on squad costs will face sanction, but are set to have greater certainty up front of what any punishment might be under the framework. The current profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) have been criticised in some quarters – in particular by supporters of Everton and Nottingham Forest – because sanctions for breaching PSR have been left to the discretion of the independent commissions hearing the cases to set, based on the mitigating and aggravating factors presented to them. Clubs – including Everton – opted against the introduction of a sanction framework for PSR when the matter was raised in 2020, but it is understood one is set to be part of the new financial rules clubs hope to sign off at the league’s annual general meeting on June 6. It is understood factors which will affect the severity of the sanction will include whether it is a first offence, for example, and the size of the overspend. Sporting sanctions such as points deductions will still form part of the framework. The squad cost rules are set to limit Premier League clubs to spending 85 per cent of revenue on player wages, head coach wages, agents fees and transfer amortisation costs. A financial levy is set to be imposed on clubs who go over over 85 per cent but stay below 115 per cent. However, the rules will then seek to balance that overspend – and guard against clubs staying permanently in that ‘amber zone’ by imposing a lower ratio thereafter – so an 87 per cent ratio might require clubs to meet 83 per cent at the next measuring point. The Premier League did not comment.   New Premier League Independent Regulator Top-flight clubs are working to agree new rules against the backdrop of football’s new independent regulator progressing through Parliament. The Government has so far resisted calls to extend the remit of the regulator to oversee competition financial rules in the Premier League, the EFL and the National League. Pressed on the topic at a committee hearing to discuss the Football Governance Bill on Tuesday, Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said: “The decision the Government has taken is that this is for football bodies to look after. I wouldn’t support the regulator looking after those rules.” EFL chairman Rick Parry agreed with Masters’ position and said: “I think it’s the boundary of where football authorities deal with the rules that govern the competition. “As Richard said earlier, part of the role of the PSR is competitive balance rather than the sustainability of individual clubs. There is an element of crossover but I do think that PSR, cost control rules should fall firmly with the leagues to operate.” Another key element of the Premier League’s new financial rules is anchoring, which would effectively impose a hard spending cap on wages, agents’ fees and so on. The cap would be a multiple – perhaps four-and-a-half or five times – the amount in central revenue earned by the league’s bottom club. A majority of clubs have voted in favour of examining the anchoring proposal more closely. The league is now conducting a legal and economic analysis of the concept and is understood to have begun discussions with the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA). The union has said it will oppose any proposal which amounts to a hard salary cap.

Kaizer Chiefs to raid Sekhukhune for TWO prize assets
Kaizer Chiefs have seen the progress made by Sekhukhune and are ready to plunder their most prized assets. Mokwana is wanted by South Africa’s elite According to SoccerLaduma, Sundowns are preparing a blockbuster move for long-term Chiefs and Pirates target Eilas Mokwana. The Sekhukhune winger has been a revelation for Babina Noko this season, earning a full Bafana Bafana call-up. A goal against Andorra and an assist against 2019 African champions Algeria prove he feels at home at this level. Downs are now at the head of the queue for a man valued at R35 Million by Lehlohonolo Seema’s team. According to The Citizen, Mokwana has always admired Chiefs but has admitted to having a soft spot for Sowetor rivals Pirates. If Amakhosi want their man, they’ll have to fight for him and he’s not going to come cheap. There is no doubt in our minds that Seema could be a genuine wildcard candidate for the head coaching role at Chiefs. Sekhukhune are still punching above their weight and still on course to finish in the top four this term. “SABC Sport has established that the decision to sideline seems now mean the coach is likely to vacate his post at the end of the season. “It’s understood Seema had initially been handed a three-year deal by the club, and with favourable results recently and the likelihood Sekhukhune would finish in fourth place on the table the latest developments come as a surprise.” Sekhukhune United unveil Lehlohonolo Seema. According to reports on Tuesday via The South African, outgoing Petro de Luanda boss Alex Santos is a genuine contender for the role. The 47-year-old Portuguese-born boss steered the Angolan side to the CAF Champions League semi-finals and multiple league titles. With the shortlist growing by the day, a conclusion to this saga doesn’t seem imminent. It’s not as if Chiefs don’t have options though.
