Three gripping storylines to watch out for ahead of Man Uniteds crucial showdown vs. Arsenal Man United News And Transfer News
Three gripping storylines to watch out for ahead of Man Uniteds crucial showdown vs. Arsenal Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United host Arsenal at Old Trafford in what is shaping up to be a high-stakes Premier League clash for both teams. United will be heading into the game off the back of a devastating 4-0 hammering at the hands of Crystal Palace, which served to pile further pressure and misery on Erik ten Hag and his players., The Red Devils have a chance to get back to winning ways and make a huge statement that they’re no pushovers and what better way to do it than against a top rival such as Arsenal? Here are three storylines to anticipate as the two English giants prepare to lock horns on Sunday. United can put an end to Arsenal’s title ambitions Arsenal will undoubtedly turn up at the Theatre of Dreams fully aware that a win guarantees that the Premier League title race will go into the final game of the league season when they face Everton at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners don’t have it in their hands, with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the driving seat. Arsenal are almost certainly relying on a slip-up from the reigning champions in their remaining clashes vs. Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham for the most prestigious trophy in the land to be decorated in red and white ribbons. Mikel Arteta and his men are firm favourites to emerge victorious, especially considering United’s consistently poor performances and results, yet the Arsenal boss himself will know that Old Trafford has not been happy hunting grounds since he took over the reins at the North London outfit. Arteta managed to secure Arsenal’s only triumph at Old Trafford in the league since 2006 but has the only one to his name, in a long line of shocking and disappointing results, which if repeated, would be fatal for his side. Arsenal have lost on their last two trips to Old Trafford and needed two injury-time goals to complete their 3-1 win in the reverse fixture back in September. This could be just the motivation Ten Hag needs to motivate his players when they step onto the pitch on Sunday. United have the golden opportunity to put a significant dent in Arsenal’s title prospects, almost in the same way they did against Liverpool in the 2-2 draw last month. It will certainly not be easy for United against an Arsenal side that have smashed in 27 goals and conceded just thrice in three of their last games on the road. City are the only team who have kept them at bay and prevented them from clinching all three points. Arteta spoke to reporters and was asked about United’s form and Arsenal’s Old Trafford record. The Spaniard said, “I don’t think about it, every game has a different context. We know the difficulty and the history when you look at what we’ve done over there, so we’re going to have to be at our best to earn the right to win the game.” “We know what we need to do but first of all we have to perform at a really high level to deserve to win the match. That’s what the focus is.” In a season marked by disappointment, the United players have a chance to reclaim some dignity and bring a glimmer of joy to fans by scuppering Arsenal’s title push. The stage is set and the battle lines drawn. Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes return from injury Ten Hag is set to be significantly boosted by the return of Rashford, McTominay and Fernandes. All three stars have recovered from injury and are in contention to return to United’s starting XI for the game against Arsenal. Rashford has not featured for the 20-time English champions since the dramatic win on penalties vs. Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final. Despite his struggles this season, he’s still a threat to any rival and brings something different to the team. The England international’s outstanding record vs. the traditional “big six” is also well-known and he could have a big say in how events pan out on Sunday. Rashford has also been linked to Arsenal, with his United future uncertain. He may have returned just in time to haunt the North London club and inflict the ultimate pain on them. Even more important is that Rashford being back means United can field their most potent front three alongside Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho on the right. Another big player set to come back into the action is Fernandes. The club captain wasn’t in the matchday squad for the clash at Selhurst Park and was a huge miss. United lacked the imagination and creativity he often injects into the side. Before he was sidelined, Fernandes was in terrific form and even received a nomination for the Premier League’s April Player of the Month award. This term, he has plundered an impressive 15 goals and 11 assists across all competitions and he could be United’s main point of difference vs. Arsenal. McTominay is also likely to play from the start and despite obvious reservations about him in the middle of the park, his eye for goal and turning up at the right place and at the right time are undeniable. The Carrington academy graduate is enjoying the most prolific campaign of his career and very few people would put it past him to once again get on the score sheet this weekend. United looking to get European aspirations back on track United’s European aspirations suffered a huge hit following their loss to Palace. The result left the Reds in eighth position in the Premier League and 13 points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa. Champions League qualification is mathematically impossible for United but the Europa League remains an attainable objective, although there is stiff competition from Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle and Chelsea who are in fifth, sixth and seventh respectively. A win over Arsenal would go a long way in cementing United’s Europa League credentials and this is something the players will have on the back of their minds as they do battle with Arsenal. Needless to say, getting into the Europa Conference League would be humiliating for United but they would have no one to blame but themselves. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Erik ten Hag says he has no regrets taking the Manchester United job Man United News And Transfer News
3 Erik ten Hag insists he has had no second thoughts about taking the Manchester United’s manager’s job as his team prepares for tomorrow’s Premier League clash with Arsenal. “I don’t regret being here for one second,” he said at the pre-match press conference. “This is a massive club. You don’t know the challenges you have to face until you are in it. But I wanted this challenge and have not had one second when I regret that decision. I am really happy to be here.” Speaking of the progress this season, he said: “In the first year I would say it was a good formation. We played to our levels, maybe we over-performed. “In this one we haven’t and I know why, but we are still in an FA Cup final and that is a great achievement.” Asked his opinion about those calling for him to be sacked, the manager said: “I see some comments, either they don’t have any knowledge of football or they don’t have any knowledge about managing a football team. “I think there are many people who see the problems and they are patient.” The boss was also asked about team cohesion after Monday night’s shocking 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. “If I look at the problems we have faced and all the injuries we have had, in almost every game the players have still fought. There has been great team spirit,” he replied. “But not on Monday night – and that is why I was disappointed. “I was really disappointed and the players were disappointed with themselves. There was a collective failure. But in all the other games, we have fought for each other, showed good team spirit – and I don’t have any doubt about this. “The players fight and there is a good team spirit. I think the fans have seen this. They saw against Brentford how we fought. We did not play well but we fought and stayed in the game. “At Chelsea, it was a great game, we played very good and we fought. Against Liverpool, we had to adapt the backline because Raphael [Varane] and Jonny [Evans] dropped out, but we fought and got a very good result.” United’s match against Arsenal kicks off at Old Trafford tomorrow at 4.30pm. Facundo Pellistris valiant efforts prove inadequate as Granada are thumped 4-0 by Real Madrid Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United loanee Facundo Pellistri gave a good account of himself but ultimately fell way short as Granada suffered a devastating 4-0 loss at the hands of La Liga champions Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti fielded a much-changed starting XI from the one that triumphed against Bayern Munich earlier this week in the Champions League semi-final. However, it didn’t matter as they still managed to sink Pellistri and his teammates. Goals from Fran Garcia, Arda Guler and a brace from Brahim Diaz were enough to pile further misery on Granada, who have now lost two games on the bounce. Pellistri was his side’s best player. He was deployed on his favoured right wing of a 4-4-2 formation. The Uruguayan registered 55 touches of the ball during the 90 minutes plus added time that he was on the pitch. He successfully delivered 24 of the 30 passes he attempted, managing an individual pass completion rate of 80%. Three of his passes were key passes. Pellistri tried to deliver three crosses but couldn’t find his target on either occasion. This is something he will undoubtedly be keen to work on and refine. He didn’t try to ping any long ball. He also completed two of the five dribbles he embarked on. The winger was not able to challenge Thibaut Courtois as he didn’t have a shot, either on-target or off-target to his name. Pellistri did well defensively and played his part as he won seven of the 12 ground duels he delved into. He was outmatched in the one aerial duel he was required to contest. The United loanee also made four tackles. (stats obtained from Sofascore) As he approaches the end of his temporary tenure at Nuevo Estadio de Los Cármenes, Pellistri can look back at his time with Granada with pride. Not only has he been a key member of the squad but he has also gained significant first-team experience. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Richards Bay stun Pirates in Orlando Spurs relegated
The win against Pirates saved Richards Bay from automatic relegation. Orlando Pirates failed to take advantage of Stellenbosch FC’s slip up as the race for the second spot in the DStv Premiership League title race swung firmly in Stellies favour after the Buccaneers lost 1-0 at home to Richards Bay FC. ALSO READ: Shalulile on target as Sundowns unbeaten run continues Stellies’ 2-0 defeat against Moroka Swallows earlier in the day had provided Jose Riveiro’s third-placed side with the chance to not only leapfrog Stellenbosch FC, but move two points clear of the them. It was clear from the first whistle that the visitors wanted to upset the form book by getting an early goal, but the Pirates defence had other ideas as they dealt with any threat that came their way. But the Natal Rich Boys were finally rewarded for their efforts in the 36th when Sanele Barnes put them in the lead when he put Richards Bay in the lead against the run of play after Pirates failed to defend a set-piece. DStv Premiership top goalscorer Tshegofatso Mabasa came close to finding an equaliser for the Buccaneers three minutes later, but his header went over the crossbar. Mabasa had another chance to redeem himself in the 45th minute but his shot was saved by Richards Bay goalkeeper Salim Magoola. The Natal Rich Boys hanged on to their slender lead until the half-time break. Pirates took the game to the visitors in second half and they came close to finding the equaliser in the 56th minute through Relebohile Mofokeng, but his shot hit the crossbar with Magoola well-beaten. Captain Innocent Maela wasted a good chance to grab the equaliser for the Buccaneers in the 61st minute when he found himself unmarked inside the box, but he sent his header wide of goals.   ALSO READ: 10-man Spurs hold SuperSport to a frustrating draw Magoola pulled off a brilliant save to deny Patrick Maswanganyi from close range in the 82nd minute as the Buccaneers pushed for the equaliser. The win against Pirates not only saved Richards Bay from automatic relegation, but it also meant that Cape Town Spurs were relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship with two games to go.

Manchester United players raise doubts about Erik ten Hags unusual method Man United News And Transfer News
Manchester United players raise doubts about Erik ten Hags unusual method Man United News And Transfer News
1 Erik ten Hag was welcomed to Manchester United on the backdrop of an incredible and prolific stint in Amsterdam.  Considering the success he enjoyed at Ajax, including a memorable Champions League run during the 2018/19 campaign that saw the Dutch outfit humble the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus, Ten Hag was an overwhelming fan favourite to take over the helm at Man United in the summer of 2022.  The Dutch coach arrived at Old Trafford with plenty of power and backing — the same was reflected in the way the club’s hierarchy supported him in the transfer window. Fans bought into his vision and players showed willingness to fight for their manager despite a slow start to his journey. However, as we approach the end of his second campaign at United, the huge cracks are starting to show and Ten Hag is not even guaranteed to remain the side’s manager beyond this summer. The atmosphere is no better in the dressing room, with a report from Premier League Brasil detailing how his methods and decisions are irking his players. According to the report, the way the former Bayern Munich youth coach prepares for matches is “the subject of complaints” in the United dressing room, largely due to his tendency to hold tactical meetings in an “unusual” way. It is claimed his pre-game meetings are long, lasting as much as 40 minutes. To make matters worse, they are held “three or four times” weekly. This has supposedly both bothered and surprised his players, even leading to drowsiness in some instances.   “The players do not assimilate Ten Hag’s instructions. It’s a difficult and tiring method,” the outlet states. It is a norm for managers these days to control every action on the pitch, as such detailed and long tactical meetings should not be the stick to beat the 54-year-old manager with. However, the fact that even this is not translating into positive results paints a worrying picture for Ten Hag. The Red Devils have played a frustrating brand of football all season, boasting a goal difference of minus three. They are likely to miss out on all European competitions for the next term, and there is little hope his side will be able to beat Manchester City at Wembley in the FA Cup final. And now, with his players also allegedly losing confidence in his methods, it seems the end is near for Ten Hag at United. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Jadon Sancho fails to inspire Borussia Dortmund to comeback as theyre put to the sword by Mainz Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho played the entirety of the second half as Borussia Dortmund were hammered 3-0 by Bundesliga rivals Mainz. Dortmund started extremely badly as they let in three goals in the opening 23 minutes at Mewa Arena. A strike from Leandro Barreiro and a brace from Lee Jae-sung were enough to sink Dortmund and bring them back to reality following their mid-week triumph in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain. Sancho, fresh from his heroics vs. PSG, was named on the bench by Edin Terzic. The Dortmund manager gave the nod to a wing-pairing of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens on the left and Donyell Malen on the right flank. The United loanee was brought on after the break in place of Malen to try and make a difference but he couldn’t have the desired impact. During the 45 minutes including added time that he was on the pitch, Sancho registered 43 touches of the ball. He successfully found his teammates with 25 of the 29 passes he attempted, managing an individual pass completion rate of 86%. The Englishman embarked on four dribbles but couldn’t complete any of them – a far cry from the quick and skilful feet he showed in both logs of Dortmund’s semi-final tie against PSG. He failed to register a key pass, cross or even ping a long ball. The 24-year-old also found it hard to test Robin Zentner in the Mainz goal and didn’t have a shot, either on-target or off-target to his name. Sancho found himself largely outmatched defensively by the Mainz players, winning just two of the eight ground duels he engaged in. However, he successfully rose to the challenge in the air, prevailing in the single aerial duel he faced. The forward lost possession of the ball on 11 occasions. He made just one interception. (Stats obtained from Sofascore) Sancho and Dortmund will undoubtedly be looking to redeem themselves and end the season on a high note when they take on Darmstadt on the final day of their Bundesliga campaign. There’s then the small matter of the Champions League final against La Liga giants Real Madrid. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Brazilian legend Rivaldo says Casemiros Man United move was purely motivated by financial gain Man United News And Transfer News
Brazilian legend Rivaldo says Casemiros Man United move was purely motivated by financial gain Man United News And Transfer News
1 Brazilian football legend Rivaldo has insisted that Casemiro’s transfer to Manchester United was purely motivated by financial gain and not sporting reasons. Casemiro joined United last summer from Real Madrid in a deal worth £70m. The five-time Champions League winner was targeted after Erik ten Hag failed in his bid to convince Frenkie de Jong to ditch Barcelona in favour of an Old Trafford switch. Casemiro’s debut season at United was a fantastic one. The 32-year-old was crucial as he helped the Red Devils qualify for the Champions League and end a six-year trophy drought. He even scored in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle at Wembley. However, he has been unable to replicate the fine performances in his sophomore campaign in England. Casemiro now looks like a pale shadow of his former self and there’s already talk that he could be sold as soon as the transfer window opens. He seems to be struggling with the pace and physical demands of the Premier League. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr are monitoring his situation and could swoop for him in the coming months. For the right fee, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS would certainly be open to parting ways with the declining midfielder. Former Barcelona and AC Milan striker Rivaldo spoke to Betfair (via EPL Index) and had his say on Casemiro’s move to United. The 1999 Ballon d’Or winner said, “Casimiro is a great person, a friend of mine and someone I played with when I was at Sao Paulo.” “I think he was living a beautiful story at Real Madrid, but of course, the financial side of things helped his decision.” Rivaldo however warned against heaping the blame for United’s struggles entirely on Casemiro. “Manchester United are in a terrible moment, with so many injuries… Casemiro is a midfield player, not a striker or defender, so people criticise him playing out of position, but in my opinion, he is not to blame at all, because Manchester United are struggling massively on their own.” Rivaldo went on to state that players should ultimately be inspired to change clubs for professional reasons and not monetary incentives alone. “In my opinion, in football you must be professional. Players must come in to win, regardless of what happens, regardless of the rivalry.” Casemiro and his teammates return to action on Sunday when they host Arsenal at Old Trafford. Shalulile on target as Sundowns unbeaten run continues
Sundowns’ unbeaten run remains intact after 26 matches. Peter Shalulile struck late as Mamelodi Sundowns registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Royal AM at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday night. ALSO READ: Sundowns Ladies to take part in Women’s Cup in USA It was a game where the visiting team parked the bus and frustrated the Brazilians for the majority of the game. Shalulile who had a rather quiet game delivered when it mattered most by scoring the only goal of the match with a diving header from a Lesiba Nku cross in the 85th minute. Sundowns’ unbeaten run remains intact after 26 matches and the invincible dream is still alive with only four matches left to play in the league. There was nothing to write home about in the first half with the game played at a passive pace. Sundowns tried to find openings but they were predictable in their approach and Royal AM’s defence was never really troubled. Apart from a few half chances, there was no fluidity about Sundowns’ passing game. They also needed to up the tempo in the second half if they were to get maximum points.  Shalulile should have opened the scoring shortly after the break but his effort sailed over the bar following a cutback from the right by Thembinkosi Lorch. A couple of erratic passes in midfield clearly irritated Masandawana coach Rulani Mokwena who made four changes on the hour mark. The crowd on the main stand was also getting a frustrated with the team’s showing in Atterdigeville. Rivaldo Coetzee, Khuliso Mudau, Tashreeq Matthews and Sipho Mbule were recalled to the bench. In an attempt change things around, Mokwena brought on the quartet of Bathusi Aubaas, Zuko Mdunyelwa, Matias Esquivel, Junior Mendieta. On the far stand, the drum-beating Sundowns faithful tried their outmost to spur their team on. At has been a gruelling season for the league champions and understandably, the legs are starting to give in a little bit. ALSO READ: 10-man Spurs hold SuperSport to a frustrating draw Nku who replaced Lorch failed to get his head on the end of Neo Maema cross. I slight touch would have seen him break the deadlock but he missed the ball completely with an attempted diving header. Just when it looked like Royal AM had done enough to leave Tshwane with a point, Shalulile had other ideas and headed home with a well-taken header five minutes from time. Sundowns will travel to KwaZulu-Natal to again face Thwihli Thwahla on Tuesday.

Ex-Chiefs defender uncertain about future despite potential UEFA Champions League football
Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana is still uncertain about his future at FCSB despite his club battling for UEFA Champions League qualification. The 26-year-old defender could be one of the few South Africans to play in the CL. Since leaving Chiefs, Ngezana has impressed overseas winning the league the Romanian SuperLiga in his first season. If FCSB can get through the UEFA Champions League playoffs, the former Chiefs man might rub shoulders with the best players next season. Speaking to FARPost, Ngezana said he was looking forward to playing in the playoff rounds. “Obviously, we still need to play for the playoff rounds, which is not easy, and it’s not easy to always get into the Champions League qualifiers,” he said. “So, we need to play to qualify to be there. I think we still have to play about four, if not six games, if I’m not mistaken, because I have never participated in the playoffs before, which will be home and away. “We will see how things unfold because even myself, I’m not certain about my future because anything can happen at any time. But if I’ll still be with the team, it will be nice to play in the Champions League.” The UEFA Champions League dream is a few games away for the former Kaizer Chiefs defender. Even though his side qualifies for the elite competition, he might not be with the team next season. A few teams have reportedly made an offer for the Bafana Bafana defender which the Romanian giants have turned down. Ngezana doesn’t come cheap, says FCSB FCSB have put a hefty price tag on their valuable South African defender. Last year in September,  reports emerged that the Ligue 1 outfit FC Lorient was keen to sign ex-Kaizer Chiefs star Ngezana for €5 million (R104 million). Still, FCSB rejected the offer, insisting on selling Ngezana for no less than R145 million. If the ex-Chiefs defender was to leave, his dream to UEFA Champions League might not materialise. As things stand, FCSB leads the Championship playoff table

OGC Nice sporting director tells INEOS he wants to leave as he believes priority is on Man United Man United News And Transfer News
OGC Nice sporting director tells INEOS he wants to leave as he believes priority is on Man United Man United News And Transfer News
1 OGC Nice sporting director Florent Ghisolfi has reportedly told INEOS that he wishes to leave the club as he believes their focus is now primarily on Manchester United. INEOS chairman Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed his partial 27.7% investment into United in February and since then, all attention has been on identifying areas of improvement. Ratcliffe and his associates have been on a mission to implement a “best-in-class” structure at Old Trafford with an eye on the upcoming transfer window. During the takeover process as well as since Ratcliffe officially walked through the door at United, there have been fears in France that Nice would take a backseat and assume a secondary role in his eyes. Ratcliffe is of course a majority shareholder at the Ligue 1 outfit, who are currently in fifth position in the standings and just one point adrift of Lille above them. According to Foot Mercato, Nice sporting director Florent Ghisolfi has seemingly acted on these concerns and has informed the club’s owners that he wishes to leave in favour of pursuing a fresh challenge. It’s understood that Ghisolfi feels INEOS’ priorities have changed and all their energy is currently being directed towards restoring United back to their past glories. Foot Mercato reports, “After spending time at RC Lens, then at Nice for a little less than two years, the 39-year-old sports director now wants to look beyond the borders and join AS Roma.” “According to our information, Ghisolfi has even already informed Nice of his desire to leave the club.” The news outlet adds, “Arriving at the GYM in October 2022, the native of Aubagne believes that the Champions League project that he was sold at the time has now changed.” It’s further relayed that Ghisolfi is now making arrangements with INEOS to facilitate his departure from The Allianz Riviera. Meanwhile, United return to action on Sunday when they host Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at Old Trafford. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to keep Steve McClaren at Man United even if Erik ten Hag is sacked Man United News And Transfer News
Sir Jim Ratcliffe set to keep Steve McClaren at Man United even if Erik ten Hag is sacked Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United coach Steve McClaren is reportedly set to be retained at the club even if Erik ten Hag were to be sacked at the end of the season. Pressure on Ten Hag is now more intense than ever after United’s devastating 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace earlier this week. On yet another occasion, United were thoroughly outplayed and dominated in almost every aspect of play by perceived inferior opponents. It doesn’t get easier for the Red Devils, who face Arsenal next before clashes against Newcastle and then Brighton on the final day of the season. There is then the small matter of an FA Cup final against Manchester City later this month. It’s a very realistic prospect that United could end the campaign without any win to their name, considering the poor form they’re currently in. It has been repeatedly stated that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS will defer a final decision on whether or not to keep Ten Hag until the end of the season, with the Dutchman’s future at Old Trafford hanging in the balance. However, a report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that if things get really bad, the 54-year-old coach would be immediately sacked even before the campaign concludes and his assistant, McClaren, appointed interim boss. Ex-United forward Michael Owen spoke after the final whistle at Selhurst Park and insisted that McClaren – who is a “top operator” that’s naturally inclined to play positive and attacking football – has no input on the team and is just a bystander. McClaren himself spoke to the media and admitted that over the last two years under Ten Hag, United have at times fallen firmly below the standards expected of the club. According to The Mirror, the 63-year-old has earned the admiration of the top brass and will likely be kept for a bit longer, even if Ten Hag is relieved of his duties. The newspaper reveals, “Steve McClaren is set to escape the Manchester United cull that is expected to claim Erik ten Hag and the rest of his backroom staff at the end of the season.” “‌The former England coach, who was brought back to Old Trafford when Ten Hag became United boss in the summer of 2022, has a long-standing professional relationship with INEOS chief Dave Brailsford.‌” “Brailsford will play a key role in the decision on whether new United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe decides to allow Ten Hag to complete the final year of his contract in the summer after a calamitous campaign at Old Trafford.” Simon Mullock points out, “The Dutchman’s extensive coaching staff would also pay the price for failure – but McClaren is regarded as someone who INEOS can continue to work with in any new managerial regime.‌” It’s believed that McClaren and Brailsford grew close when the former invited the cycling chief when he was in charge of Derby to give a talk on his marginal gains philosophy. Apparently, the two agreed on most things and have been friends since. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Chelsea make shock enquiry for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood Man United News And Transfer News
Chelsea make shock enquiry for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood Man United News And Transfer News
1 Premier League rivals Chelsea have reportedly made a shock enquiry for Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood ahead of the summer transfer window. Greenwood is currently in the last month of a very successful loan spell at Getafe that has seen him plunder an impressive ten goals and six assists in 32 games so far. He has done well at Getafe and his performances have seemingly piqued the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs keen to offer him his next permanent home. Greenwood was controversially suspended by United in January 2022 after he was arrested on suspicion of raping and assaulting a woman. The forward was charged with the mentioned offences but the case against him was eventually dropped, with the Crown Prosecution Service citing the withdrawal of key witnesses. United subsequently launched an internal investigation into the matter and had provisionally planned to bring him back until their plans got leaked by the media. Following intense backlash and public outrage, club bosses led by former CEO Richard Arnold reversed their decision and decided to send the Englishman to Getafe on loan for the 2023/24 campaign. Alongside Getafe who are keen to extend his stay at Estadio Coliseum, La Liga giants Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have also been mentioned as interested parties in Greenwood. There is also admiration from Italy, with Juventus also believed to be pursuing the England international. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that two Premier League clubs reached out to United to enquire about the possibility of signing Greenwood. The two English top-flight teams were unnamed but according to TEAMtalk (via UtdDistrict), Chelsea is one of them. While the Blues have not yet registered an official interest in adding the 22-year-old to their ranks, they’ve enquired about his situation. TEAMtalk add that Mauricio Pochettino’s side are firmly aware that United want to part ways with Greenwood and have made steps to determine how much he would cost. It’s believed that a fee in the region of £40million could get a deal for the player over the line. Interestingly, TEAMtalk note that Aston Villa are also monitoring Greenwood and are alive to his situation in the event that a deal can be struck. Needless to say, either side signing Greenwood would be very controversial. Not only has he come through the ranks at United, but the heavy baggage he carries with him threatens to unsettle any fanbase. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Orlando Pirates vs Richards Bay
Orlando Pirates vs Richards Bay
Orlando Pirates are at home once more in the DStv Premiership in Saturday evening’s clash against Richards Bay at the Orlando Stadium. Kick-off is at 20:00. It’s been a busy month for the Soweto giants who take to the field for the fourth time inside a fortnight in what is their second home game within a span of four days. Starting XI Form guide It’s a battle between two teams on opposite ends of the log, both equally determined to walk off with maximum points on Saturday. The Natal Rich Boyz are currently in a desperate bid to fight off the threat of relegation as they find themselves in 15th place with three games left to play. Their run of results over the past five outings has been their best yet this season, yielding half of the six wins they have collected throughout the campaign. The KwaZulu-Natal outfit has claimed 10 points during this period after playing to a goalless draw away to Polokwane City in midweek. With the season winding down, they aim to secure all nine points from the remaining fixtures to improve their chances of avoiding the daunting relegation playoffs. Three of these will have to come away from home against an in-form Pirates side that has swept aside all comers over the past month. Jose Riveiro’s side is currently on a seven-match winning streak that includes victories in each of their last five league outings. They marked their return to Orlando Stadium with a 2-0 win over Chippa United in midweek, earning a vital three points to close the gap on second-placed Stellenbosch. A second successive home triumph has the potential to help leapfrog the men from the Winelands, placing the Buccaneers in pole position for the last available spot for CAF Champions League qualification. Key players Tshegofatso Mabasa (Orlando Pirates): Fresh off a second consecutive league brace, Mabasa has made a significant impact for the Buccaneers up front. The 27-year-old has contributed 12 goals in just 14 appearances for the club since his return from loan and has taken pole position in a thrilling race for the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot. Salim Magoola (Richards Bay): The shot stopper has provided stability in the visitors’ defence, having rediscovered the form that made him one of the breakout stars in his first season in the South African top flight. With three clean sheets in the last five games, the Ugandan international has been a key aspect of Richards Bay’s recent resurgence. Head-to-head There have only been three league meetings between the two sides, the most recent being the reverse fixture at King Zwelithini Stadium. Neither side could find the net on that occasion, resulting in a share of the spoils. Only one of the three previous matches has produced a winner, and it was during the latter half of the 2022/2023 season when Pirates won 2-0 on the road through goals from Terrence Dzvukamanja and Monnapule Saleng. Richards Bay’s only triumph against the Soweto giants came in a Carling Knockout quarter-final encounter earlier this season when they won via a penalty shootout, following a goalless 120 minutes of football. Where is humble Kaizer Chiefs legend Tsepo Masilela?
Tsepo Masilela was a rock-solid performer for Bafana Bafana, Kaizer Chiefs, UEFA Champions League club Maccabi Haifa and LaLiga’s Getafe. Where is the former swashbuckling left-back now? MASILELA WAS PURE CLASS Whether he was scooping up accolades and silverware with Kaizer Chiefs or lining up for Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League, Tsepo Masilela was one of the most underrated left-backs around. Equally adept at defending his box or bombing forward into the final third, he was ahead of his time as a modern full-back. In 2014-15 with Chiefs, he was a pivotal piece of the puzzle, making 28 appearances in the league and supplying three assists. Let’s take a closer look at his playing career next. Masilela doing Masilela things down the left flank. Image: Goal WORLD CUP 2010 Masilela featured in all three of Bafana’s group games at the historic 2010 World Cup hosted on home soil. He was a half-time substitute for Lucas Thwala in the 1-1 draw with Mexico and started the two subsequent games against France and Uruguay. It all started on the local scene at Hellenic in 2004 when Masilela moved to Richards Bay after earning his stripes in Cape Town. A switch to Thanda Royal Zulu followed before his first big break with Maccabi Haifa. Masilela made 127 appearances for the Israeli giants between 2007 and 2011. In 2009/10, he plundered an incredible 13 assists to steer them into the following season’s UEFA Champions League, where he made six appearances. The next stop on his journey was with Spanish LaLiga side Getafe where Masilela became a key figure despite only signing for the capital club on a season-long loan. The UEFA Champions League trophy. After six years with Amakhosi, Masilela rounded out his playing days between 2019 and 2022 with AmaZulu. He has 46 caps to his name for Bafana Bafana. WHERE IS TSEPO NOW? Speaking to Robert Marawa in April 2023 and reflecting on his career, he said: “I’m blessed and I thank God. I played in AFCON, the World Cup, Confed, the CAF Champions League and the UEFA Champions League. I’m happy with the career I had. Blessed.” In case you didn’t know, he’s the older brother of Orlando Pirates captain Innocent Maela. Left-back talent is a family thing. According to reports, Masilela is now involved in the mining industry and mentioned in his chat with Mr Marawa that he’s taking his UEFA C coaching badges. He officially called time on his career in this interview, and what a career it’s been. Tsepo chats with Robert Marawa. Video: YouTube WHAT ARE YOUR BEST MASILELA MEMORIES? Erik ten Hag wants Manchester United stars to play through the pain barrier against Arsenal Man United News And Transfer News
1 An injury-ravaged Manchester United are all set to take on the Premier League’s top scorers Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday and manager Erik ten Hag has asked his players to play through the pain barrier to try and avoid humiliation. The team did endure a nightmare last Monday as Crystal Palace thrashed them 0-4 with the Red Devils forced to play with their 14th different centre-back combination of Jonny Evans and Casemiro against the Eagles as Harry Maguire missed out. Currently, almost the entire first-choice back four remains sidelined and the Dutchman hinted that he would not risk Lisandro Martinez from the start against the Gunners despite the Argentine’s wish to play. The World Cup winner has suffered enough from being rushed back into action too soon and the plan is to try and keep him fit for the FA Cup final. EtH wants more commitment from injured stars However, the likes of Evans, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford, both of whom also returned to training recently, will hopefully try and make themselves available for selection from the start. Ten Hag had publicly praised the Northern Ireland international, the Scot as well as Maguire for their ability to play through the pain barrier for the club and hopefully, a few more will raise their hands as the season finale approaches. “Erik ten Hag wants his walking wounded to play through the pain and avoid a massacre by Arsenal,” wrote Neil Custis of The Sun. “Ten Hag hopes his stars will be more “robust” and put up their hands for selection when he assembles his struggling squad on Saturday morning unless they have a serious injury.” Players have often taken the easy way out at this club since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, a habit that the incompetent Glazers have allowed to fester and something that needs to be ended. However, there is the risk that the additional load could lead to a further breakdown. The former Ajax coach wants more, which should be the norm, but considering the injury record this season, this might not be the best approach. Major injury issues at the club This season has been a disaster in terms of injuries with more than 60 separate cases of injury or illness with skipper Bruno Fernandes missing the Palace game, the first game he has ever missed because of injury since joining the club. The medical department has been a joke with plenty of players prefering to diagnose their problems through their own doctors instead of trusting the club’s medical team. The manager’s training methods are also under the scanner with the players frequently complaining about the training regimen as well as the running demands. INEOS are far from impressed with the disarray at the club and Sir Jim Ratcliffe has ordered a probe into the injury issues at the club. They are also in the middle of overhauling the medical department. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Bafana star Foster relegated from the Premier League
Bafana Bafana and Burnley striker Lyle Foster, once of Orlando Pirates, has experienced the pain of relegation from the Premier League. Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League confirmed The Clarets lost 2-1 at Tottenham on Saturday, confirming they’ll be a Championship club next season. Vincent Kompany’s team struggled to impose their possession-based style on the top flight this term. They were often getting caught out making mistakes in their own third. Bafana Bafana star Lyle Foster shines for the Clarets Despite their relegation, former Orlando Pirates man Lyle Foster has been a key operator for them this season. In a campaign which was interrupted by his personal mental health issues, the 23-year-old has still racked up 22 EPL appearances with five goals and three assists. Burnley’s final game is at their home, Turf Moor, against Nottingham Forest. Forest will likely still be fighting for their survival at that stage so this match isn’t a dead rubber. Once a Pirate, always a Pirate Lyle Foster was born in 2000 in Noordgesig, Soweto, and broke through with Orlando Pirates as a youth product. He was promoted to the Buccaneers first team in 2017, and his first big move abroad came two years later when Ligue 1’s Monaco came calling. AFoster made 11 appearances for the Sea Robbers before embarking on his European adventure. Bafana’s priciest-ever player! Benni McCarthy was formerly the most expensive South African footballer ever when Celta Vigo paid Ajax €6m (R113 million) for his services. After Benni, Joburg-born playmaker Steven Pienaar was the second-most expensive when in 2011 he moved from Everton to Tottenham and fetched a fee of €3.6m (R67.6 million). The guaranteed fee that Burnley will pay to Westerlo for Kyle Foster’s services has shattered the record held by Benni since 1999. The Clarets paid €7m upfront, with a further €4m of add-ons triggered because of their promotion to the Premier League. Foster’s move is going to amount to something approaching a staggering R225 million but now his value is estimated at €13m (R267 million). Two coaches from Africa named
Tic, tic, toc, time is moving. Kaizer Chiefs are yet to announce the expected new coach. Meanwhile, two of the reported candidates are from the African continent. KAIZER CHIEFS LINKED WITH TWO AFRICAN COACHES According to FARPost, Amakhosi bosses have created a shortlist of coaches. One of the names is a coach from Tunisia who nearly joined Kaizer Chiefs before the start of the 2023/24 season. “I wanted [Chiefs] to give me a chance of coming with at least two members of my technical team who will help me,” Nabi said as quoted by Sports Arena. “However, they told me they have individuals with running contracts, and firing them will be expensive. It became a challenge for me to agree; I realised they could not help me, and I decided to leave them alone,” Nabi added. Another candidate that is linked with Kaizer Chiefs, is a living legend of the continent from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Nasreddine Nabi: The 58-year-old Tunisian has a glittering profile, with two Tanzania Premier League titles and two League Cups, as well as second place in the CAF Confederation Cup. Florent Ibenge: Igenge, 62, won the 2016 African Nations Championship with DR Congo, as well as the CAF Confederation Cup and Moroccan Cup with RS Berkane in Morocco. WILLARD KATSANDE TO COACH AMAKHOSI? Former Amakhosi midfielder Willard Katsande is planning to coach Amakhosi. The Zimbabwean legend arrived at Amakhosi in 2011 from Ajax Cape Town. Katsande went on to play a remarkable 310 games that included the winning of two DStv Premiership titles. The former Kaizer Chiefs number six later finished his career at Sekhukhune United. Speaking on Robert Marawa’s Worldwide Sports show, the 38-year-old confidently manifested his vision to coach Amakhosi in four years. Katsande said he will win trophies that include the league title. “Are you going to coach Kaizer Chiefs? Marawa asked. “Yes, very soon,” Katsande responded. “As soon as I finish my qualifications. I am busy with my soccer school now. I’m preparing myself. “As soon as I’m done with my qualifications, I will do that [coach Kaizer Chiefs] and then go to my national team [Zimbabwe], because I believe I need to give back to my national team. “How many years do you give yourself to coach Kaizer Chiefs?” Marawa asked. “I think four,” Katsande answered. “Not just a coach, but a coach who’s going to win a trophy and the league. I’m going to try to change the game, and the way people see Kaizer Chiefs,” the former number six concluded.

AmaZulu vs Kaizer Chiefs: Kickoff time suspension news
Kaizer Chiefs face AmaZulu on Sunday with plenty to play for in their push for a top-eight finish this season. AmaZulu sneaking up on Kaizer Chiefs Usuthu can leapfrog Chiefs with a win on Sunday which would put Cavin Johnson’s team in a world of pain. Kickoff between Chiefs and AmaZulu is on Sunday 12 May at 17:30. If you’re a Man United or Arsenal fan, it’s a tricky one because the Red Devils and the Gunners battle at the exact time from Old Trafford. Mikel Arteta’s visitors can’t afford any slip-ups if they want to stay in the Premier League title race. KEY TRIO SUSPENDED FOR USUTHU TEST Amakhosi will continue with Bruce Bvuma in goal after unused substitute Brandon Petersen was given a red card for something he said in the 2-2 draw with TS Galaxy. Meanwhile, Edmilson Dove also saw red in that match, and Given Msimango must sit out this clash too after he was dismissed in the 1-5 defeat to Sundowns. Amakhosi still face Polokwane and Cape Town Spurs but they’d love to claim three points here to relieve some of the pressure. Kaizer Chiefs will look to finish the DStv Premiership season on a strong note. Image: Kaizer Chiefs website THE RACE FOR MTN8 QUALIFICATION Amakhosi have three matches left of the DStv Premiership campaign. Only two points separate them in eighth place (34) and AmaZulu in twelfth (32) so it’ll be an almighty scrap to finish in the MTN8 qualification places. Will Cavin Johnson go out with a bang or a whimper? Chippa, Polokwane City and Golden Arrows are in the thick of the race too. Form is a cause for concern; the Glamour Boys have only won ONE of their last eight assignments in the DStv Premiership. That was against SuperSport on 27 April. Wins in all their remaining games would secure MTN8 football next season, but Polokwane’s point against Sekhukune on Saturday means Chiefs start Sunday’s clash in 9th place. Africas greatest club target Orlando Pirates star
DStv Premiership powerhouse Orlando Pirates are enjoying a fine season. Consequently, the Sea Robbers may lose a player or two such as Relebohile Mofokeng. AL AHLY TARGET ORLANDO PIRATES STAR RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG According to the Rangers Review, the 19-year-old attacker, who has scored four goals and made six assists for Orlando Pirates this season, Mofokeng has caught the attention of Al Ahly. Additionally, Glasgow Rangers and Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg are also interested. “Al-Ahly and Red Bull Salzburg are among the other clubs who hold an interest,” Rangers Review reported. TEKO MODISE’S FIRST SALARY Orlando Pirates‘ former superstar Teko Modise has reflected on his early career at Ria Stars. It was where he earned a very high salary, which he says positively humbled him. Long before Modise entered the big time to enjoy millions and luxury clothes and cars, the Soweto-born Orlando Pirates legend paid his dues at Ria Stars. Asked by iDiski Times‘ leading reporter David Kappel in the latest digital edition about the salaries in his career, Modise said he would only chat about his very first cheque. The Orlando Pirates legend revealed that it was a payment of R2 000, which resulted in R9 00 after tax. “The only salary that I’ll actually speak about is the first salary that I was earning as a professional footballer, when I was playing for Ria Stars, I was earning R2,000 – and after tax, it was like R900 and something. “So those are salaries that humble you, especially when you’re from home, you can’t send anything home. So it humbles you, it forces you to work a little bit harder. And you’re surrounded by players who are driving nice cars, and wearing nice clothes. “But also you know that your time is coming, you also want to be in the space. I think that humbled me and I think that was the smallest I’ve ever got in my life in my entire life. But of course, as you progress, you’re getting better and better, the salary gets better and all that type of stuff,” the former Orlando Pirates maestro concluded. HOW TO STOP MAMELODI SUNDOWNS Staying with Modise, the former Bafana Bafana attacker recently suggested how Orlando Pirates can end Mamelodi Sundowns’ unstoppable dynasty of seven DStv Premiership titles in a row. “It’s a difficult one because everyone wants Mamelodi Sundowns to be challenged by Orlando Pirates,” said the 41-year-old Modise via FARPost. “But looking at the gap now, Orlando Pirates should be playing for [CAF] Champions League position, not the league per se. But what troubles Pirates is the consistency because they play so well in cup competitions. I think they have the know-how as to how to win cup competitions. “However, the consistency in the league becomes a problem. You look at the record they have this season on away games, it’s not convincing, it’s not a team you should be winning a league with that type of record. “So, next season, if they can try and balance that, be as dominant as they are at home and away. I think that would chance for them to win the league,” concluded the former Orlando Pirates jersey number 11.

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo drop in European Golden Boy Award rankings Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United duo Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo have seen their respective rankings in the prestigious 2024 European Golden Boy Award rankings drop amidst the club’s woeful form. Garnacho and Mainoo have been two of the few positives United fans have enjoyed during a tumultuous campaign that currently has the team in eighth place in the Premier League standings after 13 top-flight defeats. The two have so far managed 74 appearances across all competitions between them. Garnacho has registered nine goals and five assists in that period while Mainoo has three goals and one assist to his name. Mainoo has impressed with his calm and composed performances that have often made him stand out head and shoulders above some of his more senior and experienced teammates. Garnacho on the other hand has been a livewire for United and has often brought life to an impotent attacking line that’s proven too predictable at times. A report covered by The Peoples Person late last month recognised the exploits of the two teenagers, who were named among the top ten candidates vying for the European Golden Boy prize. Garnacho was ranked in third position, only behind Lamine Yamal (Barcelona) and Joao Neves (Benfica). Meanwhile, Mainoo was placed in seventh. However, in a fresh update, the two youngsters have seen their positions drop as United continue to struggle on the pitch. The Argentine winger is now in fourth position after being overtaken by Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Warren Zaire-Emery. Mainoo has also come down from seventh to ninth, with Pau Cubarsi (Barcelona) and Rico Lewis (Manchester City) now ahead of him. Reported United target Neves has also dropped from second to third. The Portugal international has been mentioned to be a prime target for the Reds and has been earmarked as a replacement for the ageing Casemiro. Some of the factors considered in coming up with the ranking include players’ performances, with metrics such as playing time, transfers and various other variations of the Golden Boy Football Benchmark Index being taken into account. One thing that could explain why Garnacho and Mainoo have dropped is fatigue. The two have been overused and in past games, seem to be tired and suffering from burnout. HUGE boost for Orlando Pirates in CAF Champions League chase!
HUGE boost for Orlando Pirates in CAF Champions League chase!
Orlando Pirates now have their CAF Champions League fate in their own hands after Stellies lost 2-0 against Swallows on Saturday. Pirates know that wins against Richards Bay, TS Galaxy and SuperSport in the DStv Premiership will secure second place and a lucrative, prestigious CAF Champions League spot next season. They also have a date with Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup final on 1 June, so plenty to be happy about for Bucs fans. The Sea Robbers are in stunning form, winning seven games on the bounce across all competitions, before their Saturday evening meeting with Richards Bay. Stellenbosch’s remaining fixtures are against SuperSport and TS Galaxy. Swallows, meanwhile, did their survival hopes a world of good. They’re guaranteed to stay in the top flight next season if Richards Bay fail to beat Pirates. USM Alger wins the CAF cup after the 2 goals away advantage. Image: Getty Images. MBATHA IS SUSPENDED Thalente Mbatha will play no part against Richards Bay on Saturday, 11 May, after picking up a fourth booking of the campaign, against Chippa. Pirates were comfortable 2-0 winners against the Chilli Boys, thanks to a brace from red-hot striker Tshegofatso Mabasa. Mbatha has been a key figure since arriving from SuperSport on loan. The consensus is that Pirates will exercise their option to sign him permanently. A clash against relegation strugglers Richards Bay isn’t the worst match for him to miss, although the visitors are fighting for their lives in the top flight. Mbatha and Makhuala anchored the midfield against Chippa, so Miguel Timm should come in for Mbatha. Kickoff between Pirates and Richards Bay is at 20:00. Mofokeng is the next big star 19-year-old Relebohile Mofokeng, a hugely popular figure among Pirates fans, is being tipped to wear the number 10 jersey at some stage. Jomo Sono is a giant name in South African football. The flashy star spent five entertaining years with Orlando Pirates before embarking on a North American adventure. Steve Lekolea tried on his number 10 jersey but nobody can do it like Jomo. More recently, Vincent Pule had a short spell with the jersey in 2020/21 but the 10 has become more or less extinct.  Relebohile Mofokeng with Orlando Pirates against Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. 16-year-old nets first goal for Liverpool U18s but final day ends in heavy defeat Liverpool FC
It was a moment to remember 16-year-old Joshua Sonni-Lambie as he scored his first goal for the under-18s, but it was an otherwise disappointing final day as the Reds fell to a 5-1 defeat. Derby U18s 5-1 Liverpool U18s U18 Premier League (26), Moor Farm Training Centre May 11, 2024 Goals: Wheeldon 10′, Oguntolu 37′, 45+3′, 75′, Tola 90′; Sonni-Lambie 87′ On the final day of the season for the U18s, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson was unable to call upon a host of names due to injury and promotion to the U21s. It can be easy to forget that only back in August he called upon the likes of Jayden Danns, Lewis Koumas and Trent Kone-Doherty up top – none of whom featured on Saturday. It was a young lineup at Derby, and although Liverpool applied promising early pressure, by the time half-time came around, the Reds were down 3-0 on the scoreboard. Costly mistakes with the ball at the back proved the story of the match, with Derby clinically finishing off each opportunity – though ‘keeper Nathan Morana made more than a few important saves. Liverpool showed flashes of striking back at the other end, Sonni-Lambie hit the crossbar and Keyrol Figueroa directed a header straight at Derby’s goalkeeper. HT: Derby U18s 3-0 Liverpool U18s The left wing looked a promising avenue to goal for Liverpool, but they were forced to rue their own mistakes as the hosts found the net twice more in the second half. With space to run into and plenty of time on their hands, the young Rams only furthered their advantage to pile on a total five goals. But it was Sonni-Lambie who ensured they would not have a clean sheet to go with their three points, converting with composure over the ‘keeper after latching onto a perfectly-timed through ball. It was the 16-year-old’s first goal at U18s level in his 19th appearance this campaign – one the Reds finished in seventh place. A disappointing end to the season result-wise for the U18s, but it has been a hugely significant campaign for Bridge-Wilkinson’s squad, with a handful going on to play at senior level. Liverpool U18s: Morana; Airoboma, Furnell-Gill, Pitt; Lonmeni, Onanuga; Ahmed, Sonni-Lambie; Bradshaw (O’Connor 60′), Young (Evers 69′), Figueroa Subs not used: Bernard

Thomas Tuchel refutes suggestions of ongoing talks with Manchester United over Erik ten Hags job Man United News And Transfer News
1 Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has poured cold water on suggestions of ongoing talks with Manchester United or any other club. As pressure mounts on Erik ten Hag, Tuchel has been mentioned to be a prime managerial target for Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS to potentially replace the Dutchman. Tuchel is set to leave Bayern at the end of the season and will be available on the market. A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the German coach is the frontrunner to take over the reins at Old Trafford. He’s thought to be part of a list also consisting of the likes of Graham Potter, Gareth Southgate, Hansi Flick, Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim and Zinedine Zidane, just to mention a few names. Tuchel recently opened up about the likelihood of making a return to England. He explained that he enjoyed his time with Chelsea and would love to manage in the Premier League again one day. It was subsequently stated that talks between United and the 50-year-old coach were set to accelerate this week before Bayern’s Sunday game against Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena. It’s understood that Tuchel believes he has “unfinished business” in the Premier League and would welcome an approach from the Red Devils. He’s of the opinion that United’s new sporting model under Ratcliffe and INEOS would likely “suit his style and personality.” Tuchel however spoke to reporters ahead of Bayern’s clash this weekend and refuted claims that talks between his camp and the 20-time English champions are underway. He said (via Fabrizio Romano), “There’s been no discussions with other clubs.” “My future? I have no idea. I’ll think about things in peace.” “Things have been clear since February. I’ll take my time.” Thomas Tuchel on rumours about Man United and Chelsea: “There’s been no discussions with other clubs”. “My future? I have no idea. I’ll think about things in peace. Trey Nyoni can be really proud of Liverpool breakout He is only 16! Liverpool FC
At just 16, Trey Nyoni debuted for Liverpool’s first team just months after transferring to the club, an adaptation one Reds coach says he can be “really proud” of. Nyoni has featured regularly in first-team training in the second half of the season, with Jurgen Klopp and Co. liking what they have seen. He made his debut off the bench in the FA Cup win over Southampton, making him the club’s youngest debutant in the competition – not to mention he has a League Cup winners’ medal! Only joining from Leicester last summer, Nyoni has been fast-tracked up the ranks and under-21s manager Barry Lewtas has hailed how the youngster has been able to quickly adapt. In an interview with the club’s website, Lewtas said: “He has been fantastic, for a boy so young. “On top of that, it’s a new club and he has had to build new relationships with different coaches he’s not known and build relationships with the players. “To perform at the level he’s been performing, he can be proud of the way he has adapted. “He has been a real good player for us this season since coming into the group from the U18s, he has had some moments where he has had to adapt.” Still very much growing into his body, Nyoni has plenty of development still to come, but as Klopp has always said, he wouldn’t use those who were not ready. Lewtas added: “He is only 16 so there have been some weeks where he has been really up against it against strong and physical opponents, but his quality has been there.” “For Trey, he can be really proud but, hopefully, there is more good performances in him between now and the end of the season.” The 16-year-old will be involved as the U21s play their Premier League 2 quarter-final at Tottenham on Sunday, where he could add to his 11 appearances at that level this season.

Downs spoil the Kaizer Chiefs & Pirates party; steal R35m target?
Mamelodi Sundowns are ready to spoil winter for Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates by hijacking one of their marquee transfer targets. Sundowns keen on Mokwana According to SoccerLaduma, Sundowns are preparing a blockbuster move for long-term Chiefs and Pirates target Eilas Mokwana. The Sekhukhune winger has been a revelation for Babina Noko this season, earning a full Bafana Bafana call-up. Downs are now at the head of the queue for a man valued at R35 Million by Lehlohonolo Seema’s team. According to The Citizen, Mokwana has always admired Chiefs but has admitted to having a soft spot for Sowetor rivals Pirates. Will that be a problem for Sundowns? Image: Muzi Ntombela/BackpagePix Orlando Pirates star Mabasa also on their wish list? Mamelodi Sundowns have a long history of signing stars from their rivals or bringing in the top-performing PSL players at any given time. Remember the 2011/12 season when they plundered the market for Dino Ndlovu, Hlompho Kekana, Anthony Laffor and Punch Masenamela in one window? They employed a similar strategy in 2012/13, signing Edward Manqele, Alje Schut and Tebogo Langerman. In a more recent example, Downs snapped up Thembinkosi Lorch from Pirates to strengthen their attack and weaken Pirates’ in one fell swoop. It would be foolish to rule out a move for Tshegofatso Mabasa, Patrick Maswanganyi or others in the foreseeable future. Mabasa’s proposed move to Europe is reportedly off, and Sundowns are circling.
