R900 salary after tax Ex-Orlando Pirates star
Orlando Pirates‘ former superstar Teko Modise has reflected on his early career at Ria Stars. It was where he earned a very high salary, which he says positively humbled him. FORMER ORLANDO PIRATES STAR TEKO MODISE ON HIS FIRST SALARY Long before Modise entered the big time to enjoy millions and luxury clothes and cars, the Soweto-born Orlando Pirates legend paid his dues at Ria Stars. Asked by iDiski Times‘ leading reporter David Kappel in the latest digital edition about the salaries in his career, Modise said he would only chat about his very first cheque. The Orlando Pirates legend revealed that it was a payment of R2 000, which resulted in R9 00 after tax. “The only salary that I’ll actually speak about is the first salary that I was earning as a professional footballer, when I was playing for Ria Stars, I was earning R2,000 – and after tax, it was like R900 and something. “So those are salaries that humble you, especially when you’re from home, you can’t send anything home. So it humbles you, it forces you to work a little bit harder. And you’re surrounded by players who are driving nice cars, and wearing nice clothes. “But also you know that your time is coming, you also want to be in the space. I think that humbled me and I think that was the smallest I’ve ever got in my life in my entire life. But of course, as you progress, you’re getting better and better, the salary gets better and all that type of stuff,” the former Orlando Pirates maestro concluded. HOW TO STOP MAMELODI SUNDOWNS Staying with Modise, the former Bafana Bafana attacker recently suggested how Orlando Pirates can end Mamelodi Sundowns’ unstoppable dynasty of seven DStv Premiership titles in a row. “It’s a difficult one because everyone wants Mamelodi Sundowns to be challenged by Orlando Pirates,” said the 41-year-old Modise via FARPost. “But looking at the gap now, Orlando Pirates should be playing for [CAF] Champions League position, not the league per se. But what troubles Pirates is the consistency because they play so well in cup competitions. I think they have the know-how as to how to win cup competitions. “However, the consistency in the league becomes a problem. You look at the record they have this season on away games, it’s not convincing, it’s not a team you should be winning a league with that type of record. “So, next season, if they can try and balance that, be as dominant as they are at home and away. I think that would chance for them to win the league,” concluded the former Orlando Pirates jersey number 11.

BIG Orlando Pirates target tells club his ready to move!
Orlando Pirates may have been given a big boost by one of their transfer targets for next season. Pirates are believed to be ready to revamp their squad, with the goalkeeping department needing attention.  Pirates currently have two goalkeepers who have their contracts running out at the end of the season. Richard Ofori and Siyabonga Mpontshane are believed to be edging towards the exit door at the club. It is believed that they will welcome back on-loan shot-stopper Siphamandla Gumede. It is not expected that he will be challenging for the number one jersey. That’s why they’re rumoured to be looking at Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali for that. The Nigerian international has seemingly given Pirates and other interested parties a big boost. According to The Citizen, he has told the Eastern Cape-based side that he is ready to leave. Nwabali ready to quit Chippa United “Chippa tabled an improved offer Nwabali to remain at the club, but he wants a new challenge. As you are aware, there are clubs in Europe and big teams in South Africa that are after his services so he wants to test himself at a bigger club. What I can say for sure is that Nwabali does not want to play for Chippa next season. He wants a bigger challenge. Chippa have been good to him and he doesn’t want leave just because he is unhappy at the club, he is happy, but he wants a new challenge.” Said a source to the same publication.  Boost for Pirates? Nwabali, who currently plies his trade for the Chilli Boys, was a surprise inclusion as first choice for Nigeria at Afcon. This was due to the fact that he had only one cap for the Super Eagles prior to the showpiece. He would end up playing all seven games for Nigeria in Ivory Coast, keeping four clean sheets. He also played a huge role in the team finishing as runners-up at the tournament. That also saw his name and reputation skyrocket, with more European clubs reportedly on his radar, making things difficult for Kaizer Chiefs. With Chiefs thought to be eyeing alternatives, Pirates could still try to negotiate with Chippa for Nwabali.

Barcelona drop out of race for Manchester United target Dani Olmo Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United target Dani Olmo is keen to move back to Barcelona but the Catalan giants cannot afford him this summer. United have had major problems all over the pitch but the lack of creativity in the team is clear for all to see. 52 goals scored in 35 league games tells its own story and the club has been the victim of poor wing play all season long. Antony has slightly improved lately but he is still playing well below the level of that expected at a club like Manchester United. In addition, Marcus Rashford has endured the most disappointing season of his career, on and off the pitch. Therefore, United have been linked to numerous players to try and rejig their ailing creative department as, once again, Bruno Fernandes has been expected to carry most of the heavy lifting. United’s torturer on Monday night, Michael Olise, is seen as the most likely creative player INEOS will make a move for, but they have also been linked to Red Bull Leipzig’s Dani Olmo. In fact, it had been previously reported that the Spaniard was very open to moving to England and, in particular Manchester – a huge boost to either United or City. It was reported that Olmo “likes Manchester and the English lifestyle”, which could make any move for the 26 year old that bit easier. Due to the attacking midfielder’s openness to a move, it has been suggested that United have already begun talks with the player to iron out a summer deal. However, Catalan publication Sport have other ideas about the player’s preference for a move. The outlet claims that “Olmo feels very grateful to the Blaugrana club. He spent seven years in the Barça youth ranks until, as a youth player, he took the risk of going to Croatian football.” In addition, a return to the Camp Nou “would always be a priority option for the footballer.” However, despite how “delighted with his incorporation” Barca coach Xavi would be, “it seems almost impossible in the current context.” “The will of the footballer is not enough. Dani Olmo has a clause of €60 million, affordable for a European great, but not for FC Barcelona with its economy so decimated.” It is not only from an economic perspective but “FC Barcelona would also have very tough competition with the Premier League clubs that follow in its footsteps. The ‘Big Six’, made up of Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham, are on the prowl” for the Spanish international. Therefore, it seems like the white flag of surrender from the Catalan club, knowing they cannot currently pay the money required to sign the player with their present financial woes. The player is certainly well-respected as he is seen as a key “reference” and one of the “captains” of the Spanish national side for this summer’s Euros. Moreover, he is described as a “world-class figure” for his club side. With Barcelona seemingly out of the way, Olmo’s path to the Premier League is that much clearer, should United decide to firm up their interest. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Mokoena and Sundowns reach deadlock in contract talks
Mokoena’s contract with Sundowns only expires in June next year. Talks between Mamelodi Sundowns and midfielder Teboho Mokoena are said to have reached a deadlock amid interest from overseas clubs. ALSO READ: Mokwena gives positive injury update on Bafana star Mokoena Mokoena’s contract with Sundowns only expires in June next year, but the Brazilians are reportedly not prepared to risk losing their prized asset for free when it expires and now they are looking to tie him down to a long term deal. Mokoena is a subject of transfer speculation following his good displays for Bafana Bafana at the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Ivory Coast earlier this year, where Hugo Broos’ side won a bronze after finishing third. The 27-year-old midfielder is believed to have attracted interest from Europe and North Africa. SABC Sport reports that Sundowns sporting director Flemming Berg has been given the mandate to ensure the club does not lose their key players, ‘hence the decision to open talks to extend Mokoena’s current terms’. The public broadcaster further reports that discussions have reached a deadlock and nothing has been finalised yet despite such discussions having commenced prior to the Afcon. Mokoena’s agent Glyn Binkin confirmed the talks with Sundowns over Mokoena’s future, but did not want to divulge more details around the negotiations. “Negotiations were at a very delicate stage currently and I would not want to prejudice such discussions at this moment,” Binkin is quoted as saying by the public broadcaster. ALSO READ: Sundowns’ Mokwena excited to see hero Guardiola at Club World Cup Sundowns announced a week ago that goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has extended his stay at the club until June 2028. It remains to be seen if the Brazilians will succeed in convincing Mokoena to sign a new deal or if the Bafana star will be sold.

Kaizer Chiefs willing to sell their most prized asset
Kaizer Chiefs willing to sell their most prized asset
Kaizer Chiefs are willing to cash in one of their most valuable assets in the upcoming transfer window. CASTILLO IS ‘UNHAPPY’ AT KAIZER CHIEFS Venezuelan central midfield schemer Edson Castillo is reportedly unhappy at Naturena. Zamalek was credited with an interest, but the Egpytian giants’ plans to sign the player have been scuppered by a transfer ban. According to Soccer-Laduma, the player could make a switch to Europe but Chiefs will want to recoup a hefty fee. “It’s tough for both the player (Castillo) and the club (Chiefs). You know the club recently offered him a new deal to keep him longer at the club. But now the player feels he is not happy, mainly in recent times. He hasn’t been playing the way he wanted to and that is affecting him. He has indicated that it could also affect his national team (Venezuela) call up as he has just returned to the team after a long absence. But maybe management will convince him that he has to wait for the new coach and see what happens after that before they can let him go or not. But seriously, he has expressed unhappiness on not playing as a first choice more regularly, mainly in the second half of the season,” said the source.  Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Edson Castillo celebrates a goal in the MTN8. Image: @safootclassics/X. Euro interest? The same publication has also reported that European clubs have entered the fray to sign the ‘wantaway’ star who recently made a substitute cameo against European champions Italy. “They wanted to increase his value because if you have a long-term contract with a club then your value goes up. There are about three teams which have shown serious interest in him. One in North Africa and two in Europe and he is also looking at that as a way of enhancing his national team chances. So, that could be the other reason why he wants to leave,” said the source. MTN8 QUALIFICATION RACE GOES TO THE WIRE Amakhosi have three matches left of the DStv Premiership campaign. Only two points separate them in eighth place (34) and AmaZulu in twelfth (32) so it’ll be an almighty scrap to finish inside the top eight. Kaizer Chiefs to make sensational swoop for Sundowns star?
Kaizer Chiefs to make sensational swoop for Sundowns star?
Former Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns star Brian Baloyi has urged Amalkhosi to make a sensational swoop for a Brazilians goalkeeper. Kaizer Chiefs need a new Number 1, raiding Sundowns? With club captain Itueleng Khune leaving, Amakhosi will likely go into the market for another high-profile stopper. Existing options Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen are close to signing new deals but that won’t change the club’s plans to bolster that department. With Khune now frozen out, Bvuma has become the Number 1. Petersen, meanwhile, was given a red card in the club’s 2-2 draw with TS Galaxy even though he was an unused substitute. He’s also been prone to the odd mistake. Youngster Bontle Molefe has made matchday squads but is still one for the future. Kaizer Chiefs keeper Itumeleng Khune. Image Source: (@ItumelengKhune/Instagram) Baloyi wants Amakhosi to make a move for Onyango Former Chiefs and Downs ‘keeper Brian Baloyi, nicknamed ‘Spiderman’ in his heyday, says Amakhosi must move for 38-year-old Dennis Onyango. “We have Itumeleng Khune, but we don’t know what’s going to happen with him. So you need an Onyango with vast experience, and he can give you two or three seasons,” Baloyi told FARPost. “Same way that Arthur Baartman did; may his soul rest in peace. He came in and started pushing Khune to a point where he started playing regularly. “You need someone like that, someone who will come in and push these young players so that they lift up their game. If Kaizer Chiefs were to want to sign a goalkeeper now, I would say sign Onyango.” Mamelodi Sundowns keeper Denis Onyango reveals retirement plans. Image Source: (@MamelodiSundowns/X. Kaizer Chiefs to make sensational swoop for Sundowns star?
Kaizer Chiefs legend:We should sign this Mamelodi Sundowns star!
Kaizer Chiefs legend:We should sign this Mamelodi Sundowns star!
Kaizer Chiefs may be about to revamp their goalkeeping department for the next season.  Chiefs are believed to be ready to part ways with long-serving goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune at the end of the season. That means of the current crop, Chiefs will be left with Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen. The club recently offered both contract extensions, signalling their intent to have them competing for years to come. Amakhosi also have young Takalani Mazhamba who is highly rated in the club’s structures. The 16-year-old is also believed to be on the radar of Mamelodi Sundowns, however. Chiefs on the look out for a new goalkeeper So in a scenario where Chiefs could lose both Khune and Mazhamba, the club may need to sign two keepers. Already it is well documented that they’re searching for a goal minder that can come in and be their number one straightaway. Different names have been thrown around in that regard, including Stanley Nwabali, Salim Magoola and Sage Stephens.  Nwabali is a player Chiefs are reported to have pulled out of their pursuit for, with Magoola their rumoured next target. Stephens recently signed a new deal at Stellenbosch FC. One person who knows all about what it takes to be an Amakhosi goalkeeper is legend Brian Baloyi.  Baloyi has given Chiefs advice, saying they should consider signing veteran Sundowns goalkeeper, Denis Onyango. Onyango a good shout? “We have Itumeleng Khune, but we don’t know what’s going to happen with him. So you need an Onyango with vast experience, and he can give you two or three seasons. Same way that Arthur Baartman did; may his soul rest in peace. He came in and started pushing Khune to a point where he started playing regularly. You need someone like that, someone who will come in and push these young players so that they lift up their game. If Kaizer Chiefs were to want to sign a goalkeeper now, I will say sign Onyango.” Said Baloyi to FARPost. The expectation is for Onyango to hang up his boots at the current season, but could he be a smart move for Chiefs?

Sporting Lisbons Ruben Amorim tipped for Manchester United job Man United News And Transfer News
Sporting Lisbons Ruben Amorim tipped for Manchester United job Man United News And Transfer News
1 Ruben Amorim has been tipped to move to Manchester United by former Sporting Lisbon player-turned-pundit, Diamantino Miranda. Erik ten Hag’s position at Old Trafford looks to be in complete peril due to his side’s poor form and league position. The Red Devils are on course for their worst ever Premier League finish of eighth and they have already lost a record 13 games in the league. The Dutchman’s side also have a goal difference of minus three after 35 games, showing the profound weakness in both attack and defence. This has produced much chatter in the press about who will replace the much-maligned coach with Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter and Hansi Flick all being mentioned as of late. One coach who has also been recently linked is that of 39-year-old Ruben Amorim, who has just delivered his second league title at Sporting in Portugal. There is also the chance to win the double when they take on Porto in the cup final later this month. The coach has won numerous plaudits in Portugal for the consistency and effectiveness of his team’s play. Speaking to CMTV (via futebol365) Miranda claimed, “if it turns out, if it’s true, that Manchester United is interested in Rúben Amorim, there will be no shortage of money with absolute certainty.” “And I think that Amorim has all the conditions, especially because of what he’s already done, especially because he’s going to leave Sporting with a bang, and that’s often how you have to leave clubs.” The former player also believes that the 39-year-old coach is qualified for the job as he had to do a similar rebuilding job at Sporting, albeit on a smaller scale. “I have no major problems accepting that Rúben Amorim will leave if this proposal from Manchester United is true, especially because it is a club that is in need of major renovation. That’s what Rúben Amorim did at Sporting, it’s true, the scale is very different, but Amorim managed to prove himself at Sporting, he can do that.” The manager has already caught the attention of the English press when he was heavily linked to the Liverpool and West Ham jobs. He has been described as having a reputation to be “Europe’s next coaching superstar”. Amorim’s football style has also been labelled as an “eye-catching and effective brand of football” that “has quickly brought results.” It looks like the Red Devils will have to wait until after the FA Cup final to see who INEOS hone in on as Ten Hag’s replacement, if they even decide to change manager. It will feel like a long two weeks for most, but it is just one of the many key decisions Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co. will have to get right if they are turn United back into the force their fans believe they should be. Beckham urges Man United flops to prove they are motivated
“I think that’s the whole point of being a Manchester United player,” said Beckham. David Beckham has urged Manchester United‘s flops to prove they are motivated to play for the troubled club. ALSO READ: Time running out for Arsenal as City hunt Premier League glory Former United star Beckham was in Manchester on Thursday to attend the premiere of a new documentary about the club’s 1999 treble-winning side. Beckham was a key figure in the United team that won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup under legendary boss Alex Ferguson. Now the former England captain’s Studio 99 company have played a role in the production of ’99’, a three-part series that launches on May 17. Twenty-five years on from his role in that epic treble triumph, Beckham addressed the current malaise at Old Trafford. United manager Erik ten Hag is fighting to avoid the sack with his team languishing in eighth place in the Premier League after Monday’s embarrassing 4-0 loss at Crystal Palace. Beckham believes the players must take their share of the blame, saying: “You’d hope that the manager doesn’t have to do much. “I think that’s the whole point of being a Manchester United player and playing in these big games – you should be motivated.” Ten Hag’s difficult second season in charge could be salvaged if United beat arch rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final. And Beckham hopes United’s current crop can prove they deserve long-term futures at the club by shining at Wembley as they look to avenge last season’s loss to City in the final. “When you’re a professional footballer and you’re doing the job you love and you’re at the club you love, when you’re playing in any game, whether it’s a regular season game or whether it’s an FA Cup final against your rivals, that should be enough motivation,” he said. “And, if it’s not, then you’re in the wrong team and you’re playing the wrong sport. We went into every game, whether it was a youth cup game, a friendly game, off-season or a European Cup final, with the same mentality and the same drive. “We all know Erik’s a very qualified manager and a good manager and he has the right motives.” Beckham, a member of United’s famed ‘Class of 92’ that also included Paul Scholes, Gary Neville and Nicky Butt, won six Premier League titles, one Champions League and numerous other honours during 11 years before joining Real Madrid. ALSO READ: Man United rut ‘not good enough’ but Ten Hag vows to fight on The 49-year-old, a boyhood United fan, admits he has been discouraged by the club’s problems since their last Premier League crown in Ferguson’s final season in 2013. “Obviously it’s been a tough five, 10, 15 years at United and we all know that but it was never going to be easy when the boss left, (Roy) Keane left, Giggsy (Ryan Giggs) left, Gary (Neville) left,” he said. “All of these important players and personalities and characters all left United, it was always going to be a difficult time. “We want the lads to feel – from this documentary – the inspiration of being this successful.”

Time running out for Arsenal as City hunt Premier League glory
AFP Sport looks at three talking points ahead of the action. Arsenal have barely put a foot wrong in the Premier League in 2024 but, as the title race approaches the finish line, they desperately need a favour from Fulham, who host relentless Manchester City this weekend. ALSO READ: Moyes to leave West Ham at end of the season Mikel Arteta’s Gunners, who travel to Manchester United, are one point clear at the top of the table with two matches to play but Pep Guardiola’s men, crucially, have a game in hand. Nottingham Forest will take a huge step towards safety if they beat in-form Chelsea, who are battling Newcastle and Manchester United for a European spot. AFP Sport looks at three talking points ahead of the action. Arsenal cling to hope of City slip-up When the 2023/24 fixture list came out, Sunday’s trip to Manchester United would have seemed a tricky task for Arsenal, but it is not looking that way now. The Gunners, chasing their first Premier League title for 20 years, are likely to have been dislodged from the top of the table by the time they kick off at Old Trafford on Sunday. That is because second placed City, in the hunt for a historic fourth straight Premier League title, are in action at Fulham the previous day. City are unbeaten against the London side in 21 games in all competitions. Arsenal will be confident they can beat a spluttering United team, who appear increasingly likely to miss out on European football next season after their embarrassing 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace on Monday. City’s game in hand is next week at Tottenham, where they have never even scored a goal in the league, but Spurs’ form has deserted them and Erling Haaland is back to his marauding best. Arsenal, boasting a superior goal difference, need City to stumble but the signs are not promising. Newcastle, Chelsea battle for Europe Newcastle and Chelsea are both making a late-season charge for a European place, helped by Manchester United’s slump. Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are in pole position to take either a Europa League or UEFA Conference League spot, depending on results in the last few rounds of the Premier League and in the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United. They could even finish in fifth spot if Tottenham implode further. Sixth-placed Newcastle, who host Brighton on Saturday, have won five of their past seven league games. Free-scoring Chelsea were well off the pace just weeks ago, but a run of one defeat in their past 12 league games has given them hope of salvaging a troubled season. Mauricio Pochettino’s men travel to relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest knowing a win will keep alive their hopes of a European spot. Forest eye safety after turbulent campaign Nottingham Forest learned this week that an appeal against their four-point penalty for breaching Premier League financial rules had been unsuccessful, but they are still close to securing top-flight safety. If Forest better Luton’s result against West Ham they will be on the brink of securing a third straight year in the top-flight. It has been a rollercoaster season for Forest, who were charged with improper conduct by the Football Association earlier this month after the club criticised VAR Stuart Attwell on social media following their defeat to Everton. ALSO READ: Man United rut ‘not good enough’ but Ten Hag vows to fight on Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo said he had “already moved on” after the failed appeal over their points deduction. They are favourites to avoid the drop but if results go against them this weekend, they could yet face a shootout for survival with Burnley on the final weekend. Fixtures Saturday (1400 GMT unless stated) Fulham v Man City (1130), Bournemouth v Brentford, Everton v Sheff Utd, Newcastle v Brighton, Tottenham v Burnley, West Ham v Luton, Wolves v Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest v Chelsea (1630) Sunday Manchester United v Arsenal (1530) Monday Aston Villa v Liverpool (1900)

Man United target Denzel Dumfries heading closer to exit door as Inter Milan target two replacements Man United News And Transfer News
Man United target Denzel Dumfries heading closer to exit door as Inter Milan target two replacements Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United’s long-term right back target, Denzel Dumfries, could be heading closer to the exit door at Inter Milan as both Spezia’s Emil Holm and AZ Alkmaar’s Yukinari Sugawara are being targeted to replace him. The Red Devils have suffered a plethora of injuries this season and this has been no clearer than in the defence. In fact, right back Diogo Dalot has been the one player in the United defence to be available most of the season. However, his competitor for the spot, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, has been linked to an exit ever since Erik ten Hag moved to the club in 2022. Ten Hag has been regularly linked with harbouring an interest in recruiting the Netherlands fullback, Dumfries. There have also been numerous links to the ultra-attack minded Jeremie Frimpong at Bayer Leverkusen. It was reported this week that Inter would be open to selling the player for a fee of €25-30 million as his contract expires next summer. In addition, it was also stated that if Ten Hag remains manager, Dumfries would be very open to joining the Red Devils. United fans have even more reason to be excited about a potential move as, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via tuttomercatoweb), Inter are already preparing for life without the Dutch international. Inter manager Simone Inzaghi reportedly does not want to sell any of the 16-17 players he used regularly in the championship run with the exception of Dumfries, who they are prepared to “sacrifice” if “the right proposal arrives.” The outlet also criticises Dumfries’ consistency by claiming the player has flitted from strong performances to making major errors “like the one committed against Sassuolo last week.” The two players that the San Siro outfit are tracking as potential replacements are Spezia’s Holm and AZ Alkmaar’s Sugawara. Were Ten Hag to stay at the club, this seems like a deal that could be wrapped up very quickly with a low fee and the selling club and player both keen on a move. There is no doubting the full back’s attacking threat and he has been dubbed the “king of assists” due to his incredible ability to provide contributions at key moments. The one massive sticking point is that it is very unlikely Ten Hag will be at the club next season, with doubts continuing to swirl over his long-term future at Old Trafford. Nonetheless, if the next manager wants to pursue a more attacking wingback role, or switch to a back three, Dumfries could still be an intriguing option for United to target. Season over for Kaizer Chiefs star?
Season over for Kaizer Chiefs star?
With just three games left of yet another miserable season, another Kaizer Chiefs star may have been ruled out.  Chiefs fans will undoubtedly want to see the back of the current campaign, and maybe Tebogo Potsane does too. At the start of the season, Chiefs revamped their playing squad, making nine signings. These included Thathoyaone Dithlokwe, Given Msimango, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Pule Mmodi, Ranga Chivaviro, Edson Castillo and Potsane. Then, with the season already under way, Chiefs added Jasond Gonzales and Sibongiseni Mthethwa. In October, they added a 10th signing, the late centre back Luke Fleurs. The former SA U23 star joined Amakhosi on a red transfer from SuperSport United.  Potsane was a surprising signing for many, as he joined the club out of nowhere, with no speculation in sight. was involved in the early stages of his move to Chiefs, figuring in ex-coach Molefi Ntseki’s match day squads. But since Cavin Johnson’s take over, he has been completely sidelined. It has recently been reported that he is out injured and it has been a groin injury that has kept him sidelined for a lengthy period.  Potsane ruled out for the season Now according to FARPost, that injury could bring a premature end to Potsane’s first season at Chiefs. One that hardly took off.  “The 30-year-old right winger joined Amakhosi (Chiefs) from Royal AM at the start of the season on a three-year contract. But a groin injury has kept him on the sidelines for much of the season. Potsane’s injury is a disappointing setback for both the player and the team. The winger had been making positive contributions to the Soweto giants’ campaign before the injury sidelined him.The exact timeline for Potsane’s recovery is reportedly under evaluation, but realistically, he could be back in time for pre-season.” Wrote the publication. Could leave Chiefs? Potsane has featured only 11 times for Chiefs this season, making two assists. He joined the club on an initial three-year deal which he now looks unlikely to see out.

Jurgen Klopp facing BAN RISK for his final game as Liverpool manager Liverpool FC
Jurgen Klopp facing BAN RISK for his final game as Liverpool manager Liverpool FC
Jurgen Klopp will need to be on his best behaviour during the trip to Aston Villa, with his place on the touchline at Anfield for his final game depending on it. Just two games remain in the manager’s tenure at Anfield, with a trip to Villa Park preceding what will be an emotional final outing against Wolves on May 19. But to be present on the touchline in the latter, Klopp needs to avoid being shown a yellow card by referee Simon Hooper – who he has plenty of history with – on Monday evening. Klopp is just one yellow card away from a touchline ban by accumulating three cautions in a season, having been shown a card twice over the campaign so far. He was cautioned at Luton and Burnley after two Liverpool penalty shouts were waved away, meaning he has to be on his best behaviour in his penultimate game. It leaves plenty of power in the hands of referee Hooper, who was the official in that defeat at Tottenham earlier in the season – an occasion Klopp admitted he cannot get over. The manager said: “Only the other night was the first time since Tottenham that Simon Hooper was standing next to me for 90 minutes in a game I didn’t enjoy in the first place against Everton. “I tried to get it out of my head and couldn’t.” In his pre-Tottenham press conference, Klopp got a lot off his chest and with his time in the Premier League nearing its end, he will have plenty more to say, let’s just hope he avoids doing that before his last game! Let’s not forget he still has a suspended punishment for his words against Paul Tierney last season, and that means he also cannot imply bias or question the integrity of the referee, otherwise face a one-match suspension. Get through these two games, Jurgen, and then you’re free to get it all off your chest!

A Kaizer Chiefs fan favourite looks set to leave the club after seeing his first team minutes dry up like the Sahara desert. Ngcobo wants to leave Naturena As reported by SoccerLaduma, 29-year-old Amakhosi central defender Njabulo Ngcobo will leave the club at the end of the current campaign. Ngcobo has made only 11 appearances in the league this term with just four outings in domestic cup competitions. “For now it’s getting difficult for the team to make the final decision on Njabulo (Ngcobo). They want to keep him when his contract expires at the end of the season but at the same time the player wants to go where he will play regularly. You know he joined Chiefs from Moroka Swallows where he was a regular and even won the Defender of the Season award but he has not been himself since he joined Chiefs and he wants to change that by moving to another team,” said the source.  Kaizer Chiefs defender Njabulo Ngcobo. Sundowns Mokwena excited to see Guardiola at Club World Cup
‘I am always trying to find solutions to help my players, to help the team be better,’ added the Sundowns head coach. Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena says he is thrilled by the prospect of coming face to face with Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola at the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup in the USA next year. Mokwena is a self-confessed admirer of Guardiola, and the Sundowns mentor will join the Man City head coach at the expanded tournament, set to take place between June 15 and July 13 next year. Fifa have made the Club World Cup a 32-team tournament, and Sundowns will join Wydad Casablanca, Al Ahly and Esperance as one of four African representatives. “I am very excited and you know what excites me even more, is seeing Pep Guardiola,” said Mokwena, after he received the men’s Coach of the Year Award at the inaugural Cosafa Awards on Thursday. The 37 year-old said he is always trying to learn from the best coaches on the planet. ‘Why not me?’ “My mind never sleeps,” added Mokwena. “I am always trying to find solutions to help my players, to help the team be better, to understand and learn, especially from the best in the world. “I was listening to Carlo Ancelotti the other day, he is going for a fifth Champions League title … but he has also had ups and downs … a couple of seasons ago he was announced as Everton manager, and not long after that he won the Champions League with Real Madrid. “It shows coaching is not linear, you must keep fighting and learning. Ancelotti said in a press conference (recently) that they had taken clips of both Manchester City and Arsenal, and were learning from both Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta. If Ancelotti, who has achieved everything, is still a student of the game, why not me?”

Wheres ex-Sundowns star now? Prison office
Once upon a time at Mamelodi Sundowns was a very tall striker of 2 meters height. His name was Lungisani Ndlela and he was loved. What is he up to these days? WHERE’S FORMER MAMELODI SUNDOWNS STRIKER LUNGISANI NDLELA? Truth be told, Ndlela did not really set the world alight as a striker for Sundowns. However, his big and bright smile, as well as his outstanding height, endeared him to the Kabo Yellow supporters. The former Sundowns star also delivered a charming dance during his goal celebrations. Born in the small town of Frankfort in the Free State in 1980, Ndlela tasted the highest level at Maritzburg City in 2000. He soon became a journeyman by moving to the University of Pretoria, Moroka Swallows, SuperSport United, Sundowns and then United FC in the first division (now called the Motsepe Foundation Championship). Soon after the end of his career, the former Sundowns star struggled to make ends meet. Ndlela finally decided to seek employment as a prison warder in Witbank, Mpumalanga. “I’m still working at Correctional Services eMalahleni. I’ve been there since 2012 after the contract ended at Swallows. There were issues with the contract so I had to make a plan and I started working,” Ndlela said via Radio 2000 last year. “Lungi has done well for himself. At least he’s got an income, unlike other former soccer stars who prefer to live on handouts,” an associate said via TimesLIVE. “Lungi is popular in prison as people still recognise him. He’s jolly but takes his job seriously,” a friend of the former Sundowns star also added. UP NEXT FOR KABO YELLOW Meanwhile, Ndlela’s former club will be in DStv Premiership action this weekend. Royal AM will travel from KwaZulu Natal to face Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium at 17:30 on Saturday. Rulani Mokwena‘s side have already won the league last week with six games to spare. Sundowns also won the African Football League last year and are eyeing a treble. Kabo Yellow will take on Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final, which will be played on 1 June at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. Sundowns’ Ronwen Williams, Thapelo Maseko, and coach Mokwena slept late last night. The trio was at the inaugural COSAFA awards in Johannesburg. Williams won the Goalkeeper of the Year, Maseko the Most Promising Player of the Year, while Mokwena was named the Coach of the Year.

Kaizer Chiefs star rejects new deal decides to leave the club-report
Kaizer Chiefs star rejects new deal decides to leave the club-report
Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be ready to make some major changes to their playing staff next season. Even though there have been names linked with a move to Chiefs, the club is also set to release some. Players like Siyethemba Sithebe and Sifiso Hlanti have been mentioned, with their deals up soon. They have been joined by Happy Mashiane and Zitha Kwinika of late. One player that has been fighting those exit rumours at Chiefs is Njabulo Ngcobo. The centre back joined Amakhosi from Moroka Swallows, after winning defender of the season. Before putting pen to paper at the club, they fought of stern competition from Mamelodi Sundowns for his services. The club was able to clinch that deal through their good relationship with the Dube Birds. Things have not quite gone according to plan for Ngcobo at Chiefs thus far, however. The player has not been a regular in the starting line up in his two-and-a-half years at Naturena. That has led to rumours that he would be sold by the club at the start of the current season. The signings of Given Msimango and Thatoayane Dithlokwe only made matters worse, but he decided to stay and fight. That seems to have paid dividends as he has managed to get the odd start here and there.  Chiefs change their mind on Ngcobo It was recently reported that Ngcobo was edging no closer to any contract talks at Chiefs. The biggest likelihood would’ve been him signing for DStv Premiership rivals AmaZulu. Just last week, this publication reported a new development.  It was thought that Chiefs had changed their mind on Ngcobo and had a new deal on the table for him. It is now reported that the 29-year-old is edging towards leaving the club instead, according to Soccer-Laduma.  Player now wants to leave? “For now it’s getting difficult for the team to make the final decision on Njabulo (Ngcobo). They want to keep him when his contract expires at the end of the season but at the same time the player wants to go where he will play regularly. You know he joined Chiefs from Moroka Swallows where he was a regular and even won the Defender of the Season award but he has not been himself since he joined Chiefs and he wants to change that by moving to another team.” Said the source.  It would seem like a smart decision from Ngcobo to leave Chiefs, as it doesn’t seem like he’ll ever be a regular.

Remember him? The last Orlando Pirates jersey number 10!
The legendary Orlando Pirates jersey number 10 has become a huge topic of late.  Two players in Patrick Maswanganyi and Relebohile Mofokeng have been mentioned along the Pirates jersey number 10.  Maswanganyi signed for Pirates from SuperSport United as a surprise signing for most.  Since then, Maswanganyi has proven to be a revelation. The playmaker has made 31 appearances so far for Pirates. He has 16 goal contributions in that period, with eight goals and eight assists. He also have a plethora of Man of the Match awards. His performances have also attracted the eyes of Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos. He made his debut in the 1-1 draw against Andorra during the FIFA Series during the last international break.  Previous contenders But that’s not all, as he has also impressed the Pirates fans. He has done so to the extent of them wanting him to see don the famous jersey number 10. The jersey number is currently retired at the Buccaneers in honour of the legendary Jomo Sono. In the past, some club fan favourites have not been able to wear that number. The likes of Teko Modise and Thembinkosi Lorch have not been able to wear it. Last Pirates jersey number 10 While that debate continues to rage on, and many believe Sono was the last player to win that jersey, he isn’t. It was in fact, former Pirates fan darling Steve Lekoelea. ‘Chippa’ as he was affectionally known, was so proud to get that jersey that he combined with Kwaito star Mzambiya to make a song titled ‘Jersey number 10’.  But Lekoelea would soon lose the Pirates jersey number 10, due to poor conduct. Chairman of the Buccaneers, Irvin Khoza said the jersey will come back once another special player emerges to take it. What will it take in order to be special? Are either of Maswanganyi or Mofokeng already there?

Sundowns superstar has second thoughts committing to the club?
Mamelodi Sundowns seem to be the club top players in the country and beyond want to be at right now.  Sundowns are dominating South African football, having recently won their seventh league title in a row.  Furthermore, they’re always in the for a domestic up and are more or less guaranteed CAF Champions League football. That, for any player in and outside South African borders is more than enough of a selling point. If you want to win silverware, have the ambition to conquer Africa, then Sundowns is undoubtedly where you want to be plying your trade.  But what happens when you have already been apart of that for a while? What happens when you want to take that next step? That, only being a new challenge abroad, if you are still in your prime and thriving at Sundowns. That particular grey area, is where midfielder Teboho Mokoena potentially finds himself in at the moment.  Mokoena only joined Sundowns in the January transfer window of 2022, coming in from cross-town rivals SuperSport United. Before joining the Brazilians, he was also heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs. They then seemed to fall out of the race, with a club in Belgium joining and competing with Masandawana. In the end, it was the DStv Premiership champions that bid more and ended up getting his signature. Since joining Sundowns, Mokoena has been a mainstay on their side. He has also been a transformed player under Rulani Mokwena, with his game going to another level. Since joining the club, he has won three league titles, MTN8, Nedbank Cup and African Football League Cup. Besides Mokwena, he has also found himself as a key cog in Hugo Broos’ Bafana Bafana midfield.  Plenty of interest in Mokoena With Mokoena having stellar performances for Bafana Bafana throughout Afcon, it’s no surprise that he would garner international interest. Clubs in the English Premier League and Ligue 1 are thought to be interested in the player. Even on the continent, he has suitors in Al Ahly. It’s then perhaps no surprise that, according to SABC Sport, Mokoena and Sundowns are struggling to agree on a new deal.  Contract talks with Sundowns at a stand still? “SABC Sport understands that sporting director Flemming Berg has been given the mandate to ensure Downs (Sundowns) do not lose their key players, hence the decision to open talks to extend Mokoena’s current terms.  According to impeccable sources at Chloorkop, the public broadcaster has established that these discussions have reached a deadlock and nothing has been finalised yet despite such discussions having commenced prior to the AFCON.” Wrote the publication. The midfielder’s deal at Chloorkop expires only in June 2026. Is this a sign that Mokoena is ready to leave Sundowns for a new adventure abroad?

Graeme Souness says a proper club would get rid of Marcus Rashford due to his poor defensive work rate Man United News And Transfer News
1 Graeme Souness has claimed that a “proper club” would look to part ways with Marcus Rashford due to his unwillingness to track back and help out defensively for Manchester United. To say that Rashford has underwhelmed this season would be a massive understatement. He has been a far cry from the sensational player he was last season, as he plundered a career-high 30 goals across all competitions. This term however, Rashford’s tally currently stands at just eight goals. He looks like a shadow of his former self and there are growing calls from both the media and supporters for United to explore the possibility of selling him this summer. A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the club bosses would listen to offers from Rashford, although the player’s wish is to remain at Old Trafford and fight for his place. One aspect of Rashford’s play that people seem to have an issue with is his work rate. Often after games, clips have emerged on social media showing the England international failing to properly get involved in the press or tracking back. Such footage – after United’s game against Luton – went viral. In the video, Rashford appeared to allow Ross Barkley to easily dribble past him as he barely put any effort to stop the midfielder. Speaking on William Hill’s podcast Three Up Front, Souness opened up on this incident and pointed out that a player not working hard is simply unacceptable and should not be tolerated. The former Liverpool man said, “When I was a player, no one was given permission to not track back, you’d sprint forward, and even quicker coming back – no one was given a pass.” “I’d say that’s how it has been before my time and even now for the very best teams. If you’re at a proper club with proper professionals, you’re doing that in training each day and if you’re not, they’ll come after you. The coach doesn’t even have to say it, that’s what happens at the big clubs.” “This should be hammered into you in the training sessions, what Marcus Rashford showed against Ross Barkley when they played Luton a few weeks ago, means he must’ve been doing that in training.” Souness added, “If he was doing that at a proper football club, they’d be all over him to the point where there would be fallouts, and if they didn’t learn, they’d think about selling you.” After a short period on the sidelines with an injury, Rashford recently returned to training and could be available to Ten Hag for selection when the Reds take on Arsenal this weekend. Rio Ferdinand tells Jadon Sancho how to put pressure on Man United and revive his Old Trafford career Man United News And Transfer News
1 Rio Ferdinand has outlined two conditions under which Jadon Sancho can “put pressure” on Manchester United and revive his career at the English club. Since Sancho sought to escape from his troubles at United by rejoining Borussia Dortmund on loan. Since going back, the forward has displayed promising flashes of his former self, which initially prompted the Red Devils to splash big money on him. He has managed three goals and one assist in 18 appearances from Dortmund but it’s his performances that have really caught the eye. In Dortmund’s two-legged Champions League semi-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain especially, the 24-year-old was a constant source of threat and was arguably his side’s main man as they clinched their spot in the final. Sancho’s displays in both clashes earned him rave reviews and sparked widespread inquest into how he failed to meet expectations at United. Speaking on TNT Sports (via Manchester World), Ferdinand advised Sancho that there are two main ways he can make it happen at United if he were to return. One would be by continuing to demonstrate his good form and secondly, hope that Ten Hag is sacked as club boss. Ferdinand said, “He is in good form and needs to follow it up, then he really puts pressure on Manchester United.” “People behind the scenes, INEOS, will be asking why that isn’t happening in a Unite shirt. I think the only way he goes back is if Erik ten Hag isn’t there.” “I don’t think they can undermine the manager without an apology, I think the manager has to be gone for Sancho to go back to Manchester United.” Owen Hargreaves explained that Sancho still has the capability to come good with the 20-time English champions despite obvious reservations about him. Hargreaves insisted, “If you pair him with the players, there is the potential to grow them into something really big. Jadon could be a part of that and he should be excited to be with that.” All eyes are on Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, who will ultimately make the final decision on the future of both Sancho and Ten Hag. Man United contact agency of Real Sociedads Alex Remiro as Chelsea also express interest in the goalkeeper Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their interest in Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro and have even gone ahead to contact his agency, with Chelsea also circling around him. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person revealed that Remiro – who has kept 23 clean sheets this season – is on United’s radar as a possible replacement for Andre Onana. Onana arrived last summer from Inter Milan in a £47.2m transfer as a direct replacement for David de Gea, whose 12-year stay at the club was brought to an end by Erik ten Hag. Despite showing glimpses of his brilliance, Onana has still endured a horrific debut season at United that has seen him concede 81 goals in 48 matches across all competitions. He has made multiple high-profile errors, which have dearly cost United – especially in the Champions League before they were eliminated in the group stage. It was relayed that within Old Trafford, doubts persist about the Cameroonian, hence the club’s links to the impressive Remiro. Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo have given an update on the situation and have indicated that United Remiro’s great season in La Liga has not gone unnoticed. He has admirers at United and Chelsea specifically. Both English giants “have asked” about the shot-stopper, who is understood to be protected by a hefty €70m release clause contained in his current terms. MD state that the interest and enquiries from United and Chelsea have been transmitted from Remiro’s transfer agency to Real Sociedad. Sociedad are now aware that the Red Devils and the Blues are keen on pouncing on their man but they remain relaxed about the issue because of two main reasons. Firstly, the 29-year-old is very happy at Anoeta Stadium and is not baying for an exit this summer. Secondly, Sociedad would have the advantage in negotiations because of the release clause and the fact that the player’s contract is set to expire in 2027. United should remain alive to Remiro’s situation and the threat posed by Chelsea if they do intend to lure him to England. Meanwhile, Ten Hag’s men return to action on Sunday when they face Arsenal in a high-stakes Premier League clash. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Manchester United scouting Rennes teenage talent Desire Doue Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United are in the race to sign Rennes midfielder Desire Doue. Given the massive drop-off in the form of Casemiro this season as well as Christian Eriksen’s age, it appears that Man United are in desperate need of some midfield reinforcements. While Sofyan Amrabat was brought in on a season-long loan, his tenure at Old Trafford was not as successful as planned. Now, the Moroccan appears to be interested in departing for Italy, with Juventus being named as a potential destination for Amrabat. Suddenly, it appears as if United are in desperate need of a midfield partner for Kobbie Mainoo. Now, United appears to have their eye on a young talent that can be offered as a long-term solution. According to TBR Football, United are monitoring 18-year-old midfield talent Desire Doue. The Stade Rennais player has made a large impact on his team’s performances, contributing four goals and four assists in 29 Ligue 1 matches this season. He had proven particularly talented on the ball, completing 69% of his dribbles. As per FBRef, he ranks in the 99th percentile of midfielders across Europe in successful take-ons, progressive carries, and progressive passes received, indicating a dribbling machine who’s adept at evading the opposition press. Doue also appears to be effective when tracking back, making 1.1 tackles per game and winning 55% of his ground duels. (Stats via Sofascore) The French teenager has also shown his worth on the international stage, representing the France U23 team twice, scoring two goals for the national side. Still, the path to signing the youngster may be far from simple given that United are not the only team with Doue on their radar. Premier League rivals Arsenal are also believed to be monitoring the French teenager, as are Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, FC Barcelona, and Napoli. Given his ability to play as a central midfielder, attacking midfielder, and winger, Doue could prove to be the utility player that United need, especially with wingers such as Antony and Marcus Rashford struggling to find form this season. Ultimately, United may need to act fast if they are to bring Doue to Old Trafford, especially with so many rivals sniffing around what appears to be a top talent. Manchester United interested in completing historic transfer deal for Atletico Madrids Reinildo Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United are reportedly weighing up making a move for Atletico Madrid left-back Reinildo ahead of the summer transfer window. The left-back position is an area of the pitch United have struggled with this season, with Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia both struggling with long-term injuries. Malacia hasn’t tasted even a minute of competitive action this term while Shaw – who just returned to the training pitch – has been limited to just 15 appearances across all competitions. Erik ten Hag himself recently admitted that United could tap into the market in search of solutions at left-back. Already, United have been linked to players such as OGC Nice’s Melvin Bard and Rayan Ait-Nouri of Wolverhampton Wanderers. According to The Sun, the Red Devils have seemingly added Reinildo to their wishlist. Ten Hag’s side are not the only ones eyeing the Atletico Madrid star, with Aston Villa also mentioned as admirers of his. Juventus have also been tipped as a party that could potentially enter the race to secure the full-back’s services. The Sun reports that Reinildo is “on the radar” of United and Villa and could be obtained for a cut-price deal. Villa have a slight advantage over United as they can offer the player Champions League football. He only has one year left on his terms at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium and has only featured on 15 occasions for the Spanish giants since he made his return from a cruciate ligament tear sustained in February 2023. It’s understood that a fee of £8million could get a transfer over the line. Should United manage to land Reinildo, the switch would be a historic one as the 30-year-old would be the first star from Mozambique to play in the Premier League. David Ornstein reports Graham Potter has rejected the chance to become Ajax manager Man United News And Transfer News
1 The much-expected managerial merry-go-round that was expected in the summer has had many candidates quickly fall out already. Xavi and Xabi Alonso decided to stay, Liverpool’s vacancy is already filled, while Mauricio Pochettino might have saved his job with the late-season sprint. Remarkably, it leaves Erik ten Hag and Manchester United, a marriage thought to be the most secure at the start of the season, in the most precarious position. Thomas Tuchel has emerged as the leading candidate for the job, with Graham Potter also in the mix due to being an INEOS favourite. Latest developments make it seem like Potter thinks he might be in the running as a game of poker ensues. David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that the former Brighton and Chelsea manager has rejected the chance to become Ajax manager. The report states that he held talks with Ajax and even emerged as the leading contender only to realise the “project wasn’t right” for him. This has big ramifications for United for multiple reasons, direct and indirect. Firstly, as stated earlier, Potter is firmly in the mix for the post of United manager if that vacancy becomes available in the summer. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has previously tried to get him in at OGC Nice, the Ligue 1 club under INEOS Sports’ umbrella and his prior Premier League experience works in his favour. Secondly, Ten Hag has also been mentioned as the manager who Ajax yearn for the most as they saw their best performance in recent years with him at the helm. He has resisted the attempts of both Bayern Munich and Ajax so far but INEOS pull the trigger on his future in the summer, and rebuilding his reputation in familiar surroundings at Ajax could appeal to him. Ultimately, it feels like there will be a managerial swap if Ten Hag leaves, be it with Thomas Tuchel and Bayern Munich, or with Graham Potter. Even though Potter is unattached right now, him joining United would inevitably mean Ajax going hammer and tongs for Ten Hag. The game of poker is on, now to see who blinks first. Graham Potter has already shown that he’s willing to wait it out. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Tau Sundowns win big at Cosafa Awards
Percy Tau was named men’s Footballer of the Year at the inaugural Cosafa Awards on Thursday, while three Sundowns players also won awards, as did Masandawana head coach Rulani Mokwena. Tau was rewarded for a stellar year with Al Ahly in 2023, in which he won the Caf Champions League and the Egyptian league and cup double, while also helping the Red Devils to third place at the Fifa Club World Cup. The Lion of Judah was not at the awards ceremony at the Sandton Convention Centre, because he is still involved with Ahly in their current Egyptian Premier League campaign. Nominated alongside Tau was Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile, who not only starred for his club in 2023, but also helped Namibia qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations finals. Mokwena won men’s Coach of the Year after guiding Sundowns to the inaugural Caf African Football League, while Thapelo Maseko won men’s Young Player of the Year after winning Player of the Tournament at the same competition. Dlamini shines Sundowns goalkeeper and Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams won men’s Goalkeepeer of the Year, while Sundowns ladies and Banyana goalkeeper Andile Dlamini won women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, after she helped Sundowns ladies win the Cosafa Women’s Champions League and the Caf Women’s Champions League. Banyana Banyana head coach Desiree Ellis won women’s Coach of the Year, after she got Banyana Banyana to the last 16 of the Fifa Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand

David Ornstein: Man Uniteds Nikita Parris turned down lucrative NWSL move to prioritise FA Cup triumph Man United News And Transfer News
1 Manchester United star Nikita Parris reportedly turned down a big-money move to the United States and NWSL last month in favour of potentially winning the FA Cup. United are set to come up against Tottenham Hotspur in the Women’s FA Cup final on Sunday. Marc Skinner’s side will be hoping for better fortunes this time around having been the losing team last year against Chelsea. However, on this occasion, United are heading into the clash as firm favourites and according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Parris snubbed a huge payday to ensure the Red Devils got over the line. Ornstein reveals, “Manchester United striker Nikita Parris turned down a lucrative move to the United States last month, prioritising her team’s bid to win the FA Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.” “Despite her contract expiring this summer, Parris was subject to a previously unreported pursuit by National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side North Carolina Courage.” “An agreement had been reached between the clubs before the April 19 transfer deadline in what would have marked a record women’s sale for United, while the 30-year-old forward stood to earn £1million over a three-year deal.” The Athletic note that all that was left was for the paperwork to be signed for Parris to then be officially considered a North Carolina Courage player. Since Courage’s season was already underway, they wanted Parris to join them immediately. However, the United striker made it clear she did not wish to leave until after the FA Cup final at Wembley is done. On their part, Courage could not assure Parris they’d wait for her and as such, the transfer collapsed. It remains to be seen whether Courage reignite their interest in the 30-year-old when the NWSL transfer window reopens on August 1. Ornstein adds that United must now decide whether or not they wish to extend Parris’ current terms. The club retain an option to extend her deal by an additional 12 months. Parris has plundered an impressive 16 goals in 28 appearances this season. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? A change will be coming: Ex-Man United coach says he expects club to sack Erik ten Hag Man United News And Transfer News
2 Former Manchester United coach Rene Meulensteen has insisted that a managerial change is needed at the club as he stated that he expects Erik ten Hag to be sacked. United sunk to a new low earlier this week on Monday as they were battered 4-0 by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. On yet another occasion, the Red Devils were outplayed and dominated in almost every single department. The loss was United’s 13th Premier League defeat of the season. Ten Hag’s men currently lie in eighth position in the standings and as it stands, they are in serious danger of completely missing out on Europe. Meulensteen recently spoke to a Dutch news outlet and didn’t pull his punches as he gave a scathing critique of Ten Hag and the job he has done this term. Sir Alex Ferguson’s ex-assistant lambasted Ten Hag for lacking a clear and defined style of play or football philosophy. Meulensteen has now renewed his attack on Ten Hag but also blamed some of the United players for letting the fans down. Indeed, a number of senior players especially have been disappointing and have fallen way below the standards expected of them. Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, Antony and Christian Eriksen are just a few examples of stars on the club’s payroll whose displays have often left a lot to be desired. There is also another group consisting of individuals like Anthony Martial, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw and Jonny Evans, that have struggled to remain fit all campaign and as a result, their contributions have been sorely missed. As Meulensteen alludes, there is plenty of blame to go around and it’s not purely down to Ten Hag. The 60-year-old told Football365, “We are in a result business and the people who make decisions on what happens to Ten Hag have to decide how they think United are going to look in a year, then three years time and five years time. They need to look at the current trends with this manager and this coaching staff and it is not good, so it looks like a change will be coming.” “When you look at a manager’s work, you need to see a pattern of progress. Once that pattern becomes clear, you try and build on that after a season or a season and half. While a lot of teams are moving forward at this stage with a manager, United have regressed, there is no getting away from that. The whole trend of this season has been going backwards rather than forwards and there will be a decision over whether he stays or goes. He added, “Clarity is the key for everyone involved now. The key here is United have three tough league games left and the doom scenario is they might not win any of them. So they will go into the FA Cup final on the back of four losses. Ten Hag is hoping players will come back, but they won’t have played for three or four weeks and that might not be good against Manchester City.” On United players who have failed to deliver, Meulensteen remarked, “There are so many things I see at Man United that are foreign to me. Poor patterns of bad behaviour, no work ethic. That would never, ever be the case under Sir Alex Ferguson and that’s why there is a disconnect at the club from what it was to what it is now.” “You have a problem because you can get rid of the manager, but the new guy still has all those same players who have performed as they have this season. Listen, we are talking about Manchester United here. Not an under-14 team from Walsall. These are all good players and at the end of the day, it starts with good structure, good organisation and work ethic.” He opined that in recent months United have been relying on moments of individual brilliance from players like Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes rather than focusing on collectively playing well as a unit. According to Meulensteen, these bad habits have now caught up to the 20-time English champions, hence why they’re suffering. He called on the club to make a quick decision on Ten Hag and let everyone know rather than drag it out. Another thing Meulensteen took issue with was Ten Hag and his coaching staff’s inability to sort out some of the team’s tactical problems that are so obvious and which rival outfits have been all too keen to exploit. “I can’t understand how there is a hole in the Manchester United midfield the size of Vesuvius and it has been there all season. You have players in there that have no legs, no energy. The lines from front to back are far too disconnected and this was a problem we could all see months ago, but it still exists. I don’t understand why.” “Every team that plays against United knows this is a massive weakness and they capitalise on it.” He re-affirmed his earlier point that Ten Hag has partially been handicapped by some of his players who are simply “not good enough to play for United.” Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news?
