Manchester United may lure in Antonio Conte as negotiations with Napoli stall Man United News And Transfer News
1 Antonio Conte appears to be back in the running to become Erik ten Hag’s successor as Manchester United manager. Throughout the current campaign, Man United fans and pundits alike have criticised Ten Hag for his team’s inconsistent performances. While a feeling of defeat is nothing new this season, the club fell to a new low last night. Slumping to a humiliating 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Crystal Palace, United achieved a record that no team would want to break. The club registered its 13th defeat in the league for the season – a club record during the Premier League era. Naturally, this harrowing loss as well as the unwanted record have piled on the pressure for the Dutch manager, who has already faced a barrage of criticism and gotten into rows with the media over his playing style or lack thereof. With Ten Hag’s days at Old Trafford expected to be numbered, several candidates have emerged as potential replacements. Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter have both long been linked with the club, while high-flying Girona boss Míchel Sánchez has also been named as a potential managerial target. In the lead-up to the Palace defeat, The Peoples Person relayed that United had allegedly made contact with the representatives of Hansi Flick to inquire about his availability. Suddenly, it appears as if former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has reentered the race to become United’s next manager. This is not the first time that the Italian has been linked with the club. Prior to Ten Hag’s appointment, rumours emerged claiming that Conte could replace then-United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. While such reports never came true, Conte’s name is yet again being thrown around as discussions over Ten Hag’s successor take centre stage. Italian news outlet RaiNews claimed that Conte has been considered by Napoli as a managerial candidate, however, the club has not advanced negotiations to secure a deal. This leaves him on the market. Given this development, Sport Witness suggested that a move to United could be a possibility for Conte, claiming that a new manager could form part of INEOS’s staff overhaul of the club. Still, even with a plethora of managerial candidates being linked with the club, United are yet to announce a decision on Ten Hag’s future, causing mass anxiety for concerned United fans. Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena still reeling from CAFCL exit
Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena still reeling from CAFCL exit
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has admitted that he’s still reeling from his team’s CAF Champions Legue exit. The Brazilians were ousted by Esperance de Tunis 2-0 on aggregate, and thus failing to make it to the final. The positive side of all that, though, is that Sundowns managed to qualify for the expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup tournament. And while, under Mokwena’s tutelage, Sundowns have already won a double – the DStv Premiership title and the African Football League – the 37-year-old is still hurt by the loss to Esperance. He believes Sundowns did all they could to reach the final and possibly win it for the first time since 2016 under Pitso Mosimane. However, Mokwena feels he let the club and everybody surrounded to Sundowns down by failing to win this year’s CAF Champions League. Furthermore, the possibility of finishing the league season unbeaten having already secured the title doesn’t excites Mokwena at all. Well, at least for now since their CAF Champions League wound is still fresh. Sundowns would make history in PSL football if they are to finish the season unbeaten. As things stand, Sundowns have won 19 and drawn just five of their 24 league games. They are on 62 points. SUNDOWNS MENTOR RULANI STILL NOT HEALED “No, I’m still reeling, and I’m talking personally. I am still reeling. Someone tried to console me and said, ‘You’ve got a double already – the AFL and the League title, so why are you still reeling?’ But I’m reeling,” said Mokwena as per SABC Sport. “I must say to you, I feel like I’ve let the club down; I feel like I’ve let the supporters down; I feel like I’ve let this group down because it’s my job to lead, and when we fail, it’s my job to stand in front and assume the responsibility.” “So, I don’t think it will make up for it. We deserved to be in the semi-finals of the Champions League, based on the performance of the semi-final second leg, I think we did enough to give ourselves a chance to be in the final.” “Eventually, we will win the Champions League, but we’ve got to continue and persist because it’s not an easy competition to win, and you’ve seen it – it was only myself and [Al Ahly coach Marcel] Kohler in the semi-finals back-to-back, no other coach was there,” he continued. “And then, for the first time we did a back-to-back semi-final appearance where [the likes of] Wydad, Al Ahly, Esperance have been doing six or seven in a row.” TREBLE STILL POSSIBLE YOUNG MENTOR Meanwhile, Mokwena can still win a treble with Sundowns this season after guiding his charges to the Nedbank Cup final. The Tshwane giants will face defending champions Orlando Pirates at Mbombela Stadium on 1 June.

Luis Suarez sends Darwin Nunez message amid criticism and social media cleanse Liverpool FC
Darwin Nunez has been in the spotlight after deleting Instagram posts and unconvincing performances, and now Luis Suarez has seized his chance to send his countryman a message. Nunez’s future has been considered far and wide of late, and he only added fuel to the fire by deleting every photo of himself in a Liverpool kit after the win over Tottenham. Liverpool are currently showing ‘no indication‘ of giving up on their No. 9, but he is at one of his lowest points since joining the club. With criticism coming at him more fiercely, Suarez made the most of an opportunity to pass on a message to his fellow Uruguayan after Nunez replied with ‘idol’ to his most recent post on X. Liverpool’s former No. 7 was celebrating reaching 500 club goals on social media, and he told Nunez: “Thank you scorer for always being there! Always remember POSITIVE and looking forward!” Gracias goleador por estar siempre! Acordate siempre POSITIVO y mirando hacia adelante! ???? — Luis Suárez (@LuisSuarez9) May 7, 2024 It does not take a genius to read between the lines on that one, especially considering all the questions and criticism coming the way of Nunez of late. The No. 9 looks up to Suarez and has readily admitted to seeking advice from him since making the move to Anfield, whether that be adjusting to the English game or overcoming adversity. The message is simple in its nature but hits the nail on the head, with Nunez needing to remain positive as he sees out the season and transitions into life with a new Liverpool manager. He has increased his output from last season to now, with 18 goals and 13 assists in 52 appearances to date, compared to his 15 goals and four assists from 42 games in his debut campaign.

Gift Motupa SuperSport move back on the cards?
Phakaaathi was made aware that the 29-year-old has an agreement in principle with Matsatsantsa a Pitori. It looks like Gift Motupa is heading to SuperSport United after parting ways with Baroka FC three weeks after joining them. ALSO READ: Ex-Bafana star Mokotjo’s future up in air at Sekhukhune  Bakgaga chairman Khurishi Mphahlele confirmed to FARPost recently that the former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder is no longer with the club. After digging further, Phakaaathi was made aware that the 29-year-old has an agreement in principle with Matsatsantsa a Pitori. “The idea with Gift going to Baroka was for him to get back in shape and then officially sign for SuperSport ahead of next season,” said a source. “Gavin Hunt worked with him at Wits and he’s open to giving him a chance at SuperSport but he wanted him to lose weight first so that he can be sharp next month. “Even before joining Baroka, Gift told me that he will be playing for SuperSport as they have a verbal agreement in place but I don’t understand why he left them because it would have been good for him to keep fit there.” Before the surprise departure from Baroka, Motupa only made one appearance for the Motsepe Foundation Championship side, who are chasing promotion to the DStv Premiership via the play-offs.  “Yes, Gift has left. He is no longer with us,” Mphahlele revealed. “What happened is that he couldn’t manage to come to training some days, but some he would. So he ended up not coming.  ALSO READ: Kaizer Chiefs set to exercise option Dove’s contract? “There has not been any engagement since then, but he is my son, and we are hoping to sit down with him at the end of the season to find out his plans.”

36-year-old ex-Chiefs star Ill play for many years
Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Joseph Malongoane is still playing football on the green grass and he is not yet willing to stop at 36. JOSEPH MALONGOANE STILL HUNGRY TO PLAY After enjoying a season in Limpopo with Sunrise FC in the ABC Motsepe League, the 36-year-old Malongoane is not thinking about hanging his boots yet. “I still have many years of playing left, my brother. With my age and body structure, I am confident that I can continue playing for many more years,” the former Kaizer Chiefs attacker said via FARPost. “To be honest with you, not like I’m disrespecting anyone, or I’m just saying, but I think I can still play four more seasons. I love challenges. I’m one person who never thought that I’d be in the middle of the guys and co-coaching and stuff. But now, here I am coaching. I love the fact that experience makes a difference and has an impact on these youngsters,” the former Kaizer Chiefs star added. “I have started to love this little thing that I’m doing, which is coaching. I’m getting used to it bit by bit. So, I give myself a lot of time to learn, and I think it’s something I can consider moving forward,” Malongoane concluded. WILLARD KATSANDE TO COACH KAIZER CHIEFS Talking about former Kaizer Chiefs players, Katsande is planning to coach Amakhosi. The Zimbabwean legend arrived at Amakhosi in 2011 from Ajax Cape Town. Katsande went to play a remarkable 310 games that included the winning of two DStv Premiership titles. The former Kaizer Chiefs number six later finished his career at Sekhukhune United. Speaking on Robert Marawa’s Worldwide Sports show, the 38-year-old confidently manifested his vision to coach Amakhosi in four years. Katsande said he will win trophies that include the league title. “Are you going to coach Kaizer Chiefs? Marawa asked. “Yes, very soon,” Katsande responded. “As soon as I finish my qualifications. I am busy with my soccer school now. I’m preparing myself. “As soon as I’m done with my qualifications, I will do that [coach Kaizer Chiefs] and then go to my national team [Zimbabwe], because I believe I need to give back to my national team. “How many years do you give yourself to coach Kaizer Chiefs?” Marawa asked. “I think four,” Katsande answered. “Not just a coach, but a coach who’s going to win a trophy and the league. I’m going to try to change the game, and the way people see Kaizer Chiefs,” the former number six concluded.

4 finals in 2 seasons: Orlando Pirates coach reacts
Despite Mamelodi Sundowns‘ incredible dominance in the DStv Premiership, Orlando Pirates have been something special in the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup. Coach Jose Riveiro has broken it down. ORLANDO PIRATES COACH JOSE RIVEIRO ON CUP SUCCESS The Sea Robbers won the MTN8 last season before defending it again this term. The reigning Nedbank Cup champions then beat Chippa United to confirm a meeting with Sundowns in the final on 1 June. Orlando Pirates coach Riveiro told his players that four finals in two seasons are not normal and they should cherish these memorable events. “It is unique to be in four finals in two seasons. I think it is not usual. It tells a lot of good things about the process that is going through in our club,” Riveiro as quoted by the Citizen. “I said to the players after the game that the ones who managed to take us to the finals last season, many of them are not in the field right now or not in the team at all. But they showed us the way to compete,” the Orlando Pirates mentor added. “They showed us the way to play these types of games. They are still contributing and this is the team’s achievement. “I think we are not just winning in this tournament, we are playing memorable games. We are going to play one more game, which is going to be in our memories forever,” concluded the Orlando Pirates tactician. RELEBOHILE MOFOKENG FOR YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON Stellenbosch FC’s Devin Titus was a hot favourite for the Young Player of the Season a week ago but a new update has suddenly turned things around in favour of Orlando Pirates’ Relebohile Mofokeng. The Bishop Lavis-born Titus went ahead on goal contributions when he scored last week as Stellies beat Golden Arrows 3-0 at the Danie Craven Stadium. Titus marked 12 goals and three assists in 34 games. Orlando Pirates’ Mofokeng trailed with four goals and six assists in 32 games, while SuperSport’s Shandre Campbell has delivered five goals and five assists in 27 games. Meanwhile, the Premier Soccer League has confirmed changes to the Young Player of the Season criteria, and they favour the Orlando Pirates attacker. The new update says the award can only be won by players under the age of 21, rather than 23. “The player must be under the age of 21 years old on 1 January in the year that the DStv Premiership season commences“, meaning candidates must be U21 and younger. Those eligible for this year’s award must be born in 2002 or later,” the note from the PSL said, as quoted by iDiskiTimes.

Getafe president Angel Torres confirms FC Barcelona want to buy Mason Greenwood Man United News And Transfer News
Getafe president Angel Torres confirms FC Barcelona want to buy Mason Greenwood Man United News And Transfer News
1 Getafe president Angel Torres claims FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has asked him about the future of Manchester United loanee, Mason Greenwood. Greenwood’s season-long loan at Getafe came after a lengthy suspension due to criminal charges having been laid against him, charges that were subsequently dropped. Despite a slow start to the loan spell after many months without football, Greenwood hit his stride and has become a potent force in La Liga, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists in 32 games. Greenwood’s returning to United at the end of the season is a political hot potato for new part-owners INEOS, with many fans, staff and players uncomfortable about giving him a second chance after his alleged rape and assault of his girlfriend. This has alerted many clubs to the possibility of a cut-price deal for the 22 year old, with United reportedly looking at a figure of around £30 million for the former Golden Boy nominee. Getafe themselves have openly campaigned to keep Greenwood on loan another year, but with United preferring a sale, president Torres has admitted it is a long shot. “If it depends on the parents and the club, I think he will continue for another year,” he said. “Manchester’s idea is to sell if there is a good offer, so we will have to wait. I think he will stay.” Moreover, asked to confirm if there was any truth in Atletico Madrid’s interest in the England man, Torres revealed interest from elsewhere. “No one from Atleti has asked me about Greenwood,” he said. “I spoke with Miguel Ángel (Gil), but about other things. “The only one who asked me about the player in that sense was Joan Laporta [president of FC Barcelona], but first you have to sell to sign, that’s the problem of Spanish football.” Barcelona’s financial problems are, of course, legend in football circles and they would seem unlikely even to be able to raise £30 million. However, with United reportedly coveting some of their own stars, including Ronald Araujo and Frenkie de Jong, it is not unfeasible that some sort of player exchange could be worked out. Manchester United planning to sell Casemiro for 30 million with three Saudi clubs in the race Man United News And Transfer News
Manchester United planning to sell Casemiro for 30 million with three Saudi clubs in the race Man United News And Transfer News
1 A trip to face an in-form Crystal Palace with an injury-plagued squad was always going to be a tough ask but fans would have expected bit more of a fight but instead they saw Manchester United get thrashed 0-4 at Selhurst Park on Monday. Without skipper Bruno Fernandes, the attack looked toothless and at the back, Jonny Evans was forced to start alongside Casemiro due to Harry Maguire’s injury, which meant this was the 14th different centre-back partnership used this campaign. As manager Erik ten Hag has pointed out time and time again, injuries have affected the way he wants the team to play but that surely cannot be an excuse for keeping on playing in the same reckless manner for the entire season. His playing style does not work and at this rate, the Wembley showpiece occasion could turn out to be a humiliation. It is imperative that INEOS fix things right away. A new manager bounce could do wonders! Casemiro was so poor vs Palace And one player that needs to follow the Dutchman out of the door is Casemiro, who was at fault for three of the four goals conceded against the Eagles. Asked to play as the right-sided centre-back, he was everywhere except in his position for almost the entire game and his tendency of sliding into challenges cost the Red Devils big time. The first two goals saw Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze glide past his unnecessary challenges with ease and despite the obvious concerns, Ten Hag never bothered to correct things. He was directly responsible for the fourth as he tried to shepherd the ball out of play only to get robbed and at times, it looked like the Brazilian had given up. This is a five-time Champions League winner we are talking about. Sure, he is not a centre-back but with the team reeling under injuries, surely he could have used his head a bit more. Casemiro needs to go At the age of 32 with his legs starting to give up, United will find it difficult to recoup even half the amount they paid for his services two summers ago. Not to forget that he is the highest earner at the club with wages of £350,000 per week, How could the club offer the former Real Madrid superstar a five-year contract at his age? The club is rotten to the core and no wonder INEOS want to move the player on. As per Teamtalk, the Brazilian was “offered” directly to Al-Nassr in January with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo trying his best to get his mate over there. Ahead of the summer window, three Saudi Pro League clubs are now in the running with the 20-time English league champions holding out for £30 million. “Negotiations are currently ongoing with important figures in the Gulf State to better understand which club best suits Casemiro. Saudi interest from three clubs “In addition to Al-Nassr – the club of his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo – sources say that Al-Ahli, who are actively looking for a new midfielder, and Al Hilal are in the race for his signature. “If the Brazilian gives the green light to a move, the Saudi negotiators will open talks with Man Utd, who are looking to receive around €35m (approx. £30m) for him.” United are of the opinion that Saudi clubs will have no trouble in paying this much for such a decorated star. As relayed by The Peoples Person, there is interest from Turkey as well but it is doubtful whether Galatasaray or Fenerbahce can stump up such an asking price or come close to matching the wages the English giants are currently paying. Hopefully, INEOS manage to get this deal over the line and can focus on signing younger, more agile midfielders for the upcoming season. Want to be the first to hear breaking Man United news? Orlando Pirates to save this top striker from relegation woes?
Orlando Pirates to save this top striker from relegation woes?
Orlando Pirates are believed to be ready to go into the market for a few forwards in the off-season.  It is thought that Pirates will also offload some forwards to make room for some of their top attacking targets. The club was already active in the January transfer window but didn’t sign any attackers. The likes of Thabiso Lebitso and Talent Mbatha were roped in by Pirates, who then saw Bienvenu Eva Nga released. Then perhaps, the biggest outgoing was that of club stalwart Thembinkosi Lorch. The playmaker shocked the local football fraternity by securing a deadline-day move to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns. It is not expected that Pirates will be as idle when it comes to attacking signing in the off-season, however. The club have already been linked to a plethora of targets in that department. Some of those targets have been touted to be closer to joining than others. Off late, there have been about eight attackers linked to the club. Some of them being local and others being international.  Pirates interested in Cupido? According to Soccer-Laduma, Pirates have gone back to one of their striker targets from the previous season. This being in the shape of Ashley Cupido of Cape Town Spurs. “Pirates didn’t want to disturb Cape Town Spurs. That’s why they only proposed that they could only get Ashley (Cupido) if Spurs are relegated. They want to keep the youngster in the DStv Premiership next season and he is one of their targets on top of the ones they have already inquired about,” said the source.  Chiefs and Sundowns also in the picture previously Cupido was a striker in demand at the beginning of the current season. This was due to his 16 goals for Spurs that helped them gain promotion to the topflight. This saw the likes of Pirates and arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs competing with Mamelodi Sundowns for his signature. In the end, he remained in the Cape and has only scored six goals in his 23 appearances. At just the age of 23, would a move to Pirates be able to unleash Cupido’s true potential next season?

Pirates coach Riveiro expecting a very tight game against Chippa
Riveiro says the game against Chippa will be decided by small margins. Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro is expecting a different Chippa United side when the teams meet again in a DStv Premiership clash at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm. ALSO READ: No formal approach from Chiefs for Mngqithi, says agent The Buccaneers beat the Chilli Boys 3-1 in a drama-filled Nedbank Cup semifinal clash at the Nelson Mandela Stadium last weekend. A brace by Kabelo Dlamini and a goal from defender Tapelo Xoki were enough to hand Pirates a safe passage to the final of the competition where they’ll meet Mamelodi Sundowns at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga on 1 June. The game between Chippa and Pirates was marred by an exchange of unsavoury words between the opposing benches after Chippa’s Eva Nga was shown a red card. After the match, Chippa co-coach Kwanele Kopo accused his Pirates counterpart of provoking Nga and also said Riveiro used foul language towards his bench. Riveiro, however, denied this during the post-match interview. All eyes will be on the two coaches to see how they react to each other when they meet again at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening. Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s clash, Riveiro said he was expecting a tight game against Chippa, adding that it will be decided by small margins. “The way Chippa is going to approach [the game] is something that is not in my sight, it’s something the opponents will decide,” Riveiro told the media after the game in Gqeberha. “But we were in a similar scenario a few weeks ago when we played AmaZulu in the quarter-final [of the Nedbank Cup] and three days later, we hosted them in Orlando and it was a really difficult game because after this 90 minutes, we know each other even better. “So I’m sure it’s going to be a very tight game against Chippa, that is going to be decided by very small margins.” ALSO READ: Mokwena echoes Jurgen Klopp’s thoughts about fatigue Kopo, whose side are currently 10th on the log with 32 points after 26 games, is unsure of what to expect when the sides meet on Wednesday. “I don’t know how Wednesday is going to be. If we offended Pirates in any way, I would deeply apologise to the club and everyone and the coach [Jose Riveiro] himself,” said Kopo.

Departing Liverpool FC coach set to join Steven Gerrard in Saudi Arabia Liverpool FC
After 15 years at Liverpool, goalkeeping coach John Achterberg has decided to seek a new challenge, and it is set to reunite him with Steven Gerrard. Achterberg’s contract expires in the summer, and despite belief he would help welcome in another new manager, he elected to depart in search of a fresh challenge. In an emotional thank you letter posted on Instagram, the 52-year-old said his decision came with a “heavy heart,” but that it “could be right for me to start a new challenge.” And according to the Mirror‘s chief football writer, Simon Mullock, that is to take him to Saudi Arabia to work under Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq. Achterberg “has been offered” to take his next job as part of Gerrard’s coaching staff, which would reunite the pair after both being at Liverpool from 2009 to 2015. It would be a somewhat surprise move for Achterberg, who has been based on Merseyside since 1998, having worked at Tranmere before first joining Liverpool’s academy. Achterberg would be a coup for Gerrard, though. He is full of experience and knows how to identify goalkeeping talent, having previously told This Is Anfield he searches “all the leagues to see if there are new goalies coming up.” Gerrard held on to his position at Al-Ettifaq despite early criticism and, in fact, signed an extension in January to keep him in the role until 2027. The former Liverpool captain’s side are currently eighth in the Saudi Pro League, 45 points behind league leaders Al-Hilal – though only three sides have conceded fewer goals after 30 games. As for Al-Ettifaq’s current goalkeeping department, Artur Guedes is the designated coach and former Flamengo and Gremio ‘keeper Paulo Victor is the No. 1, with two Saudi natives as his backup. Back at Liverpool, it remains to be seen what Achterberg’s departure means for fellow goalkeeper coaches Jack Robinson and Claudio Taffarel.

Why Kaizer Chiefs made U-turn on this players future
Why Kaizer Chiefs made U-turn on this players future
Last week, it was reported by this publication that Kaizer Chiefs were ready to renew Sifiso Hlanti’s deal.  Hlanti has been at Chiefs for three seasons now, having joined during Stuart Baxter’s short second stint.  It is thought Hlanti was signed on and loaned to Moroka Swallows by former coach Gavin Hunt. This was during the Chiefs transfer ban which means they could not register players. For the veteran left-back, he has hardly set the world alight in an Amakhosi jersey prompting many to want him out. Hlanti to stay at Chiefs? Just last season, it was believed that Chiefs were ready to left him go, before a quick change of heart. That then saw club management decide to keep Hlanti on a new one-year deal with an option for a further year. It was then thought that with the dreadful season the club has endured again, he would certainly not survive.  According to the latest reports, Chiefs are set to keep Hlanti, and not because of his performances. Soccer-Laduma sources seem to suggest they’re doing so because it’s becoming increasingly difficult to secure a replacement.  Because they can’t secure a replacement? “They don’t want to be caught off guard when the season starts. It’s better they have someone they know for sure will be there. That’s why they have exercised Hlanti’s one year option. For now we can say the deal is as good as done as it’s imminent because they need an experienced left back before they run out of time,”. said the source.  Next season was thought to be the beginning of a rebuild at Chiefs with a new coach and technical staff. That was expected to provide a playing overhaul as well. But if they’re keeping players who they know are surplus to requirements and can’t secure their targets, that cannot be encouraging.

Jose Mourinho would love the opportunity to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United Man United News And Transfer News
1 Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly told those close to him that he would love to manage his former side for a second time. It feels very much that the end is nigh for Erik ten Hag after another horrendous, embarrassing defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace yesterday. Even though INEOS are unlikely to sack the manager until after the FA Cup final in three and half weeks’ time, it really does feel that last night could and should have been the breaking point. In a season full of depressing lows, the 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Crystal Palace will take some beating. Porous in defence, vacant in midfield and as dangerous as bubble wrap in the final third, nothing went right for Ten Hag’s men. The Dutchman has cut an incredibly frustrated figure as of late and he has been visually irked during interviews and press conferences. A plethora of names have been linked to replace the Dutch coach at the end of the season such as Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. However, the Manchester Evening News have suggested that former coach, Jose Mourinho, would be delighted to take a second bite at the cherry. The paper reports “Jose Mourinho would love to manage Manchester United again” and “he has told confidants he would ‘walk’ to Manchester to manage United for a second time, having been sacked by the club in December 2018.” The two-time Champions League winner is a friend of United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe but sadly for ‘the special one’, “the club does not want to reappoint the Portuguese.” Therefore, “Mourinho is not expecting an approach from his former club.” The return of the ultra-famous coach would be blockbuster but it shouldn’t be what INEOS have in mind. He has already experienced a return to Chelsea and despite winning the league, it turned very sour towards the end of his time at the club. In addition, despite winning the Conference League with Roma in 2022, he is hardly at the peak of his powers and if anything, his stock in the game has decreased substantially since he was fired from the Old Trafford job. INEOS have a chance to separate themselves from the failings of the last decade and that must start with appointing a manager who not only fully understands the rigours of managing an elite club but who is in possession of a style of play that can compete at the highest level of modern football. Kaizer Chiefs already giving up on these THREE transfer targets?
Kaizer Chiefs already giving up on these THREE transfer targets?
Last week, it was reported by this publication that Kaizer Chiefs were ready to renew Sifiso Hlanti’s deal.  Hlanti has been at Chiefs for three seasons now, having joined during Stuart Baxter’s short second stint.  It is thought Hlanti was signed on and loaned to Moroka Swallows by former coach Gavin Hunt. This was during the Chiefs transfer ban which means they could not register players. They had the likes of Phathutshedzo Nange and Kgaogelo Sekgota also loaned out to Stellenbosch FC and the Dube Birds. For the veteran left-back, he has hardly set the world alight in an Amakhosi jersey prompting many to want him out. Hlanti set to stay? Just last season, it was believed that Chiefs were ready to left him go, before a quick change of heart. That then saw club management decide to keep Hlanti on a new one-year deal with an option for a further year. It was then thought that with the dreadful season the club has endured again, he would certainly not survive.  According to the latest reports, Chiefs are set to keep Hlanti, and not because of his performances. Soccer-Laduma sources seem to suggest they’re doing so because it’s becoming increasingly difficult to secure a replacement.  Chiefs miss out on three left-back targets? “For now they (Chiefs) have taken the decision to exercise Sifiso Hlanti’s one year option. That’s because it doesn’t look good with the other targets the club has. You know they are looking at Bradley Cross from Golden Arrows, Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC and also Tanzanian Mohamed Hussein from Simba SC but it’s not promising at all for different reasons and that’s why the Hlanti option is the only one making sense at the moment,” said the source.  Next season was thought to be the beginning of a rebuild at Chiefs with a new coach and technical staff. That was expected to provide a playing overhaul as well. But if they’re keeping players who they know are surplus to requirements and can’t secure their targets, that cannot be encouraging.

Dominik Szoboszlai concedes he might have set the bar too high in debut season Liverpool FC
Dominik Szoboszlai concedes he might have set the bar too high in debut season Liverpool FC
Dominik Szoboszlai has conceded he may have “set the bar too high” for his debut season at Anfield, with an impressive start to the campaign preceding a drop in output. The Hungary captain arrived last summer and instantly impressed with the energy and impetus he injected into the midfield, something Jurgen Klopp‘s side had been severely lacking. Szoboszlai started all but eight of the first 29 matches before injury struck, with two separate spells out with the same hamstring injury keeping him sidelined for 10 games. He hasn’t been quite the same since, and that can be said of a number of players who returned from injury, with the No. 8 completing 90 minutes just twice since the start of March. Having started the campaign well before dropping off, Szoboszlai has acknowledged that his expectations for his first season at Liverpool may have been higher than was realistic. “Perhaps I set the bar too high because I think there were certain matches where I couldn’t bring out the best in myself,” he said in an interview with MLSZ TV. “Or there are times when you don’t play well and in some people’s eyes you’re the worst player on the pitch, but it is not a problem because we get through these things together.” Szoboszlai has thick skin when it comes to criticism, evidently, and he is clearly self-aware when it comes to dips in his performances. As for what the 23-year-old had to learn quickly after moving from Leipzig to Liverpool, he said: “The (Premier League) is quicker, here you don’t have as much time to think as in the Bundesliga. “Here you really need to know what you’d like to do with the ball before you receive it because if you don’t, you pretty much have no chance.” And if players are exhausted, as Szoboszlai has appeared to be in recent weeks, the ability to do just that clearly becomes harder! With two games to go, Szoboszlai has made 43 appearances this season to date with a return of seven goals and four assists, and it will be intriguing to see how Arne Slot uses him in 2024/25.

Mamelodi Sundowns interest in Stellies starlet confirmed BUT
Mamelodi Sundowns interest in Stellies starlet confirmed BUT
Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie has confirmed Mamelodi Sundowns’ interest in speedy attacker Jayden Adams. However, the only and last time they made a move for Adams was during the January transfer window. And what Stellies told Sundowns at the time was that Adams wasn’t for sale – and that’s where the discussion ended, according to Benadie. Adams has been a key figure of this Stellies team under Steve Barker so much so that he even caught the eye of Hugo Broos. The now 23-year-old was part of the Bafana Bafana squad that returned home with a bronze medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals. Adams made two substitutes appearances at the continental showpiece, and his confidence has been sky high since he came back. And while several reports have suggested that Sundowns have tabled an offer for Adams, Benadie said that’s not the case. MAMELODI SUNDOWNS KEEN ON STELLIES STARLET ADAMS “The truth is Mamelodi Sundowns made an enquiry in the January window, [and] we informed them he is not available for sale,” Benadie told SABC Sport. “No further discussions have taken place at all,” he insisted.  “So, yes, they are interested in the player. But no offer has been tabled and certainly no deal concluded,” concluded Benadie. JAYDEN ADAMS’ STATS UNDER STEVE BARKER Adams was promoted to the Stellies first team in 2020 after showing great potential in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) team. He has featured in 113 matches across all competitions since then, scoring six goals and assisting in nine. This season only, Adams has played 31 competitive matches, and he has scored three goals and grabbed eight assists for Stellies, according to Transfermarkt. Now, with players such as Thembinkosi Lorch, Matias Esquivel and Tashreeq Matthews in the Sundowns team, it remains to be seen if they will go back for Adams in the off-season. The above mentioned trio arrived at Chloorkop in January, and perhaps that was after their offer for Adams was rejected by Stellies.

No formal approach from Chiefs for Mngqithi says agent
Mngqithi’s contract with Mamelodi Sundowns is set to expire at the end of June. Football agent Mike Makaab has commented on reports linking his client Manqoba Mngqithi with a move to Kaizer Chiefs. ALSO READ: Chiefs seek redemption against Galaxy after Sundowns humiliation Mngqithi, whose contract with Mamelodi Sundowns is set to expire at the end of June, has been linked with the coaching job at Amakhosi for some time, with some reports even suggesting that he is the favourite to land it. Chiefs have been without a permanent head coach since October when they fired Molefi Ntseki following a poor start to the DStv Premiership season. Cavin Johnson has been leading the team on an interim basis. “I have heard a lot of rumours expressing that interest (Kaizer Chiefs) but I can tell you as I am sitting here, we have not had a formal approach from Kaizer Chiefs for Manqoba,” said Makaab during the Extra Time show on Gagasi FM. “I don’t think the onus should sit on us to make that approach. It’s a different story if we were introducing a football coach that is not known to clubs in this country, but I don’t think we should make a formal move unless there is interest, a genuine interest from the club itself not through the media,” he added. Makaab further revealed that they are still in talks with Sundowns over a new contract, adding that there’s a big chance for the former Golden Arrows coach to remain at Chloorkop. “We are still in discussions with Mamelodi Sundowns, Manqoba is committed to the club. If the club is keen on retaining his services, which I believe there is a big chance of that happening, then Manqoba will stay at Mamelodi Sundowns. ALSO READ: Ex-Bafana star Mokotjo’s future up in air at Sekhukhune “What I did agree with the club is that we would only discuss this after the semi final of the Nedbank Cup so it is my intention to meet with the club this week, my intention to meet with Manqoba this week as well and hopefully more clarity and finality will be on the cards during the course of next week. Whatever happens, a decision has to be made sooner than later,” concluded Makaab.

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates star wont retire anytime soon
Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates midfielder Joseph Molangoane has no plans to retire from football. The 36-year-old currently plays for ABC Motsepe League side Sunrise FC. He has been in the books of Platinum Stars, Chippa United, AmaZulu, Chiefs and Pirates. Speaking to FARPost, Molangoane said he still had four years left in him to play football  “I still have many years of playing left, my brother. With my age and body structure, I am confident that I can continue playing for many more years,” he said. Ex-Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates midfielder still going “To be honest with you, not like I’m disrespecting anyone, or I’m just saying, but I think I can still play four more seasons.” Molangoane is one of the players who featured for both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. Having played professional football for 14 years, the midfielder says he would love to go into coaching. “I love challenges. I’m one person who never thought that I’d be in the middle of the guys and co-coaching and stuff. But now, here I am coaching. he told the publication. “I love the fact that experience makes a difference and has an impact on these youngsters.” “I have started to love this little thing that I’m doing, which is coaching. I’m getting used to it bit by bit. So, I give myself a lot of time to learn, and I think it’s something I can consider moving forward.” Earlier this year, the former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs attacker resurfaced at PLatinum City Rovers. Molangoane trained with the Motsepe Foundation Championship but the club ended up not signing him. At 36, the midfielder has found a home at Sunrise FC and is looking to end his career on a high. Eight years ago, the ex-Orlando Pirates man had to be stretchered after he broke his leg during a match between Kaizer Chiefs and Free State Stars. Molangoane had to undergo an operation and was out of action for seven months.

Kaizer Chiefs to replace central defender and captain
Cavin Johnson will pick a Kaizer Chiefs team without Given Msimango as they host TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership on Tuesday night at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. KAIZER CHIEFS TO PLAY WITHOUT GIVEN MSIMANGO Remember what happened last week when Amakhosi hosted Mamelodi Sundowns at the FNB Stadium? The score was 5-1 to Kabo Yellow and they won a record consecutive DStv Premiership title. More so, Kaizer Chiefs lost their defender and captain, Msimango, when he was shown a red card. This means that the 27-year-old from Brakpan, Gauteng will be out for the next three games. So who will coach Johnson look to? Options in central defence: Edmilson Dove Njabulo Ngcobo Thatayaone Ditlhokwe Zitha Kwinika. Which two central defenders should start aginst the Rockets? Let us know in the comments section below. NO FNB STADIUM Meanwhile Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that the TS Galaxy game is going to the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The game will take place on Tuesday at 19:30. Full statement: “Following their loss against league champions Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Thursday evening, Kaizer Chiefs will have a chance to redeem themselves at home against TS Galaxy on Tuesday evening. The clash will be hosted at the Club’s alternative venue, which is the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane,” the club reported. “[Kaizer] Chiefs have four games left this season and the mission is to collect maximum points from those matches so as to cement a top 8 finish when the season ends on 25 May. “Duels between Chiefs and Galaxy have always been interesting to watch and produced a lot of entertainment, unpredictability and good football for supporters since the first meeting in 2019. “With Galaxy having won the first round encounter at Mbombela stadium back in August, Amakhosi will try at all costs try to come back with a victory in the second round match. “Galaxy will rely on a number of players who once donned the Chiefs jersey for experience and information – they include Bernard Parker, Samir Nurković and Amakhosi’s development product, Puso Dithejane. The Glamour Boys will, however. do their best to ensure that they stop Galaxy and score the goals that will get them maximum points. “Chiefs are still 8th on the DStv Premiership standings, having gained 33 points in their previous 25 matches. The visiting team are in position 5, after picking up 38 points in their 25 outings,” the note concluded.

Kaizer Chiefs new coach: RANKING the candidates
Kaizer Chiefs new coach: RANKING the candidates
Kaizer Chiefs have shortlisted some of the most exciting candidates in recent memory. We reveal the leading candidates – in order. All five men on this list present a strong case. Furthermore, they are have a lot to offer Amakhosi with management on the hunt for an experienced and successful coach to take over the helm at the end of the season. RANKING THE CANDIDATES FOR THE CHIEFS HOT SEAT 1) RUI VITORIA (LEADING CANDIDATE) Vitoria has emerged as the front-runner for the Chiefs job, according to recent reports, “You know things at this stage things are changing regarding the issue of the coach as there are consultations going on between the technical team and the management and that is why now the Portuguese coach (Rui Vitoria) is the one on the top of the list,” the insider reported on SoccerLaduma. Meaning, he has overtaken fan-favorite Pitso Mosimane as well as Pep Guardiola’s confidant, Raul Caneda. “They have looked at what he has achieved and how his team play. They believe if given a chance, he could change the fortunes of the club. So as we speak now, he stands a better chance than the Spanish coach Raul Caneda. That’s how things are now,” he added on the same publication. 2) RAUL CANEDA – PEP GUARDIOLA’S CONFIDANT Caneda is currently the second favourite. Moreover, he was the initial favourite a few days ago, according to Goal. Therefore, these two men are both being strongly considered by the Amakhosi hierarchy despite the likes of Mosimane, Benni McCarthy and Amakhosi legend, ‘Ace’ Khuse, all set to be available. Caneda is referred to as Guardiola’s confidant due to his role in recruiting and helping English Premier League and European giants Manchester City. However, he has not coached any side since 2020. 3) PITSO MOSIMANE (CHIEFS DREAM PICK) The dream remains a possibility. Mosimane to Chiefs is still alive and Amakhosi have their best chance yet to secure ‘Jingles’. However, Vitoria and Caneda are currently ahead on the pecking order. The good news is that Mosimane will be available at the end of the season having signed a short-term deal with Al Abha. So, it is now up to Amakhosi to make him an offer. In fact, the original plan was for Mosimane to replace Johnson at the end of the season. Fingers crossed, Amakhosi. 4) ACE KHUSE – AMAKHOSI LEGEND ‘Ace” Khuse has been linked with the Chiefs job. His name and reputation precedes him as one of the best players to ever represent the Soweto giants. The fact that he has been mentioned and is being looked means that he is being considered. He knows the club very well and would certainly inspire his players given his legacy. Unfortunately, he lacks experience coaching at the highest-level and Amakhosi do not want to repeat recent mistakes. They through young coach Arthur Zwane into the deep end to fast when he became head coach prior to Molefi Ntseki appointment last season. 5) MANQOBA MNGQITHI – MIXED REPORTS At the start of the season, Mngqithi stated that he wants to join Chiefs at the end of the season. Furthermore, more recent reports claim that the Soweto Giants want to add him to their technical team. However, his agent rubbished these claims. “We have not had a formal approach from Kaizer Chiefs for Manqoba. I don’t think the onus should sit on us to make that approach,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM, as reported by iDiskiTimes.

Liverpool showing no indication of giving up on Darwin Nunez Liverpool FC
Liverpool showing no indication of giving up on Darwin Nunez Liverpool FC
Darwin Nunez‘s future has been thrust into the spotlight with his performances, but there’s no current indication he’s going anywhere in the summer. Liverpool’s No. 9 has endeared himself to fans since joining the club in 2022, but he has equally frustrated by missing big chances and continually finding himself offside. He is still only 24 and has 33 goals and 17 assists in 94 outings, but with plenty of change coming in the summer, doubts over his future have surfaced. The Mail‘s Lewis Steele, though, noted that currently “there is no indication that Liverpool are in a hurry to give up on Nunez after just two seasons.” The caveat to that is that they would “struggle to recoup the mega-fee they paid,” which could rise to £85 million, somewhat tying an arm behind Liverpool’s back when assessing Nunez’s future. Nunez has widely been credited as a Jurgen Klopp signing, and his summer departure, in addition to the hierarchy at the club changing, will see the No. 9’s advocates quickly dwindle. There is a player there, but Nunez deleting every trace of him in a Liverpool kit off his Instagram, in addition to his dejected body language, shows a player who may have indicated his desires. With Liverpool having paid a hefty transfer fee and with Nunez holding a contract until 2028, it cannot be as simple as the Uruguayan checking out, if he has, in fact, done so. Nunez’s future will, no doubt, continue to be debated for the remainder of the season and into the summer, but we can be certain Liverpool will not rush into any decision as they navigate their biggest summer change in almost a decade.

What does the future hold?
What does the future hold?
Former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali is expected to make a decision on his future in the near future. Jali has been out of the game since his dismissal from Moroka Swallows in January, and there has been little focus on him and his next career step. This despite all the noise that was made soon after unceremoniously leaving Sundowns in February 2023. The veteran midfielder was heavily linked with Kaizer Chiefs but it’s now public knowledge that the two parties couldn’t agree terms. At the time, Cape Town City and AmaZulu were also reported to be keen on him but Jali ended up signing for Swallows. However, his stay at the Dube Birds was cut short after he was found guilty of a player strike that ensued in December 2023, and the club terminated his contract. Jali is now a free agent, but no team has publicly showed interest in his services at this stage but his agent Mike Makaab is hoping to secure him a deal in the near future. Makaab believes Jali still has a lot to offer the local game despite uncertainties on whether he still wants to play or not. But he won’t just sign with any team but a club that ticks all professional boxes, according to the former Bucs coach. ANDILE JALI UPDATE ON HIS FUTURE “So, with Andile Jali, there have been conversations regarding his future. We know how much he is loved by football lovers,” Makaab told Far Post. “I mean, Jali had a wonderful career, and we have to look at a decision that is favourable for him. We are very confident that he still has a lot to offer.” “His next move has to be with a club that ticks all professional boxes. If he makes the decision to continue, we will fully support that. Hopefully, the decision about his future can be final soon,” added Makaab. WHICH TEAMS ARE LIKELY TO SIGN THE EX-BAFANA BAFANA STAR? While it may be difficult to predict which teams are likely to sign Jali at this stage, chances of him signing with a mid-table club are huge. For starters, AmaZulu have become known for signing experienced stars, and so far, those players have done well for them. The same can be said about Sekhukhune United but whether or not Jali would be interested in playing for those teams remains to be seen. The likelihood of Chiefs going for Jali appears to be non-existent at this stage with all the challenges they are currently facing.

The Kaizer Chiefs manager shortlist isnt short at ALL
The Kaizer Chiefs manager ‘shortlist’ isn’t exactly short. Here’s a recap of the EIGHT men linked with the hot seat. Who’s going to become the Kaizer Chiefs manager? Take your pick from the myriad names mentioned as potential candidates to become the next Kaizer Chiefs boss. First, there were a couple of Brazilians Alex Gallo and Vanderlei Luxemburgo. Then an Iberian duo came into contention; Spaniard Raul Caneda and the Portuguese former Benfica, Spartak Moscow, Al Nassr and Egypt manager Rui Vitoria. Local names Pitso Mosimane and Manqoba Mngqithi are there too, of course. We’ve even forgotten about Nasreddine Nabi who ‘came close’ to becoming the boss at the start of this season. The club’s board desperately need to make the right appointment next time, but there’s no guarantee that the new coach will come from this list of names. We’ve even got our theories about Lehlohonolo Seema’s suitability for the role. Are we missing anybody? There’s also no guarantee that the club’s new manager will come from this list. Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mngqithi sits on the bench at the Loftus Versveld. Image: BackpagePix. Mngqithi scratched off for now? According to agent Mike Makaab, Manqoba Mngqithi isn’t destined to become the Amakhosi boss. The 53-year-old former AmaZulu, Chippa and Golden Arrows head coach is happy with the newly-crowned champions and is in discussions over a new contract. Amakhosi reportedly made a move for him at the start of this season but Sundowns triggered a one-year renewal on his deal to fend off interest. THE RACE FOR MTN8 QUALIFICATION Amakhosi have four matches left of the DStv Premiership campaign. Only two points separate them in eighth place (33) and AmaZulu in twelfth (31) so it’ll be an almighty scrap to finish in the MTN8 qualification places. Mike Makaab has dismissed rumours that Kaizer Chiefs have made a move for Manqoba Mngqithi. Mngqithi is going nowhere, for now According to iDiskiTimes, the Sundowns senior coach, who’s been with the club for 11 years, isn’t leaving. He’s been heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs by the local media in 2024. Currently the head of first-team football, the 53-year-old has held senior head coaching roles at AmaZulu, Chippa and Golden Arrows in the past. Speaking on Gagasi FM, Makaab explained Chiefs haven’t approached them about Mngqithi. “We have not had a formal approach from Kaizer Chiefs for Manqoba. I don’t think the onus should sit on us to make that approach,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM. “It’s a different story, if we were introducing a football coach that is not known to clubs in this country. “I don’t think we should make a formal move unless there’s interest from the club itself not through the media.” Sundowns are reportedly discussing a new contract with Mngqithi but nothing concrete has been decided yet. Kaizer Chiefs manager shortlist isn’t very short Take your pick from the myriad names mentioned as potential candidates to become the next Kaizer Chiefs boss. We’ve even got our theories about Leholhonolo Seema’s suitability for the role. THE RACE FOR EIGHTH PLACE Amakhosi have four matches left of the DStv Premiership campaign. Only two points separate them in eighth place (33) and AmaZulu in twelfth (31) so it’ll be an almighty scrap to finish in the MTN8 qualification places. I disappointed Sundowns- Rulani Mokwena
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena will not finish the season satisfied. He feels he let the club down in the CAF Champions League. MAMELODI SUNDOWNS COACH RULANI MOKWENA NOT HAPPY The club known as Kabo Yellow won the African Football League on 5 November 2023, before they sealed the DStv Premiership for the seventh consecutive last week. The Nedbank Cup final is coming for Sundowns against Orlando Pirates in June, yet coach Mokwena, is not a happy man because of the CAFCL loss to Esperance in the semi-finals. “No, I’m still reeling and I’m talking personally. Someone tried to console me and said you have a double already with the AFL and the league so why are you still reeling? But I’m reeling because I feel like I’ve let the club down, let the supporters down and this group down because it’s my job to lead,” Mokwena said via the Citizen on whether the two trophies have made him feel better. The Sundowns tactician, who is still only 37-years-old, added: “When we fail, it’s my job to stand in front and assume the responsibility so I don’t think it will make up for it. We deserved to be in the semifinals of the champions league and based on the performance in the second leg, I think we did enough to give ourselves a chance to be in the final but things didn’t go our way. “When I say you need luck in the Champions League, that’s exactly what I mean. I’ve got to accept but it doesn’t minimise the pain and I’ve already apologised to the club and I can apologise again for that failure and take it on my shoulders but that doesn’t mean you don’t try again because eventually we will win the Champions League,” the Sundowns mentor added. JAYDEN ADAMS FROM STELLENBOSCH As previously reported across local media, Sundowns set eyes on the 23-year-old midfielder from Iddas Valley, Stellenbosch. According to his boss, Kabo Yellow did make an enquiry in January, but there was nothing more to that. “Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie has confirmed interest from Mamelodi Sundowns in midfielder Jayden Adams, but further told SABC Sport there was no formal bid yet from the league champions,” the national broadcaster reported. “The truth is Mamelodi Sundowns made an enquiry in the January window, [and] we informed them he is not available for sale,” Benadie said via SABC Sport. “No further discussions have taken place at all. So yes they are interested in the player. But no offer has been tabled and certainly no deal concluded,” Benadie added.

Relive incredible Barcelona celebrations and emotional Youll Never Walk Alone! Liverpool FC
It is astonishing to think that one of Liverpool’s greatest-ever European nights unfolded five years ago, but the scenes from May 7, 2019 remain as emotional as they did on that glorious night. “I said to the boys, ‘I think it’s impossible but because it’s you we have a chance.’ And we believed in this chance,” Jurgen Klopp revealed after the incredible 4-0 win. With the Premier League title all but out of reach after Man City‘s win over Leicester only the night before and a three-goal deficit to overturn, the season was on the cusp of heartbreak. But Anfield was not ready to accept defeat and neither were Klopp’s men, and what we witnessed on that night in 2019 will forever be etched in our memories and tales we tell future generations. The immediate full-time scenes were simply incredible, and we will take every opportunity presented to us to relive it: From the Kop and players breaking out into ‘Allez Allez Allez’ and then transitioning into You’ll Never Walk Alone, it was a spine-tingling moment that encapsulates what Klopp injected back into the club. There was a dichotomy of utter disbelief and euphoria in the stands as the Reds mounted their comeback, with the passing of each goal sending fans in various emotional directions: And once the dust had settled, it is no wonder Trent Alexander-Arnold wanted to soak up every last second of the atmosphere! And don’t think we were not going to give you all the scenes from the stands without the highlights from the pitch, we’re not that cruel. It all still leaves you in awe, and we would not have No. 6 without this glorious night: What a team, what a night and what a club!

34 years old 37 appearances: New deal for Sundowns superstar?
34 years old 37 appearances: New deal for Sundowns superstar?
Mamelodi Sundowns have had a wonderful week. Things are about to get even better with two senior stars agreeing on new contracts at the club. Zwane is on the verge of a new Sundowns deal According to The Citizen, the man known affectionately as “Mshishi” is close to signing a new contract with Rulani Mokwena’s team. This follows after the club extended Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams’ stay at Chloorkop. Zwane, the flamboyantly talented playmaker, has made 37 appearances for the newly-crowned South African champions this season across all competitions. That’s a serious tally for a guy approaching the twilight of his career, but there’s still life left in the old dog. His experience was heavily leaned upon in the CAF Champions League as the Brazilians reached the semi-finals and Zwane made 10 appearances. His current contract expires in June but the club are keen to tie him down to another three years. “Talks over a new contract started a long time ago, but there were some minor glitches that they needed to iron out, like the length of the contract and so on. They initially offered him a one-year deal and he was not happy with that. Now they have offered him a two-year deal with an option of an additional year and he is happy,” said the source. “Sundowns know how important Mshishi is to the club and even at his age, he has always delivered so they want to keep him. But this could be his last contract with Sundowns because he will be 37 when it expires.” Sundowns fans are loving life at the moment! Photo: Samuel Shivambu/BackpagePix A much-loved player in South Africa Zwane joined Sundowns from Vardos FC in 2011. His tactical versatility and technical ability have made him a key player for Sundowns and Bafana Bafana star. He’s bagged four assists in the league this term and still gets fans off their seats with his flair and spontaneity on the football pitch.
