The potential of remote sensing for monitoring land cover changes and effects on physical geography in the area of Kayisdagi Mountain and its surroundings (Istanbul) - PubMed
The effect of land cover change, from natural to anthropogenic, on physical geography conditions has been studied in Kayisdagi Mountain. Land degradation is the most important environmental issue involved in this study. Most forms of land degradation are natural processes accelerated by human activi …

How do transitional objects work?: the therapist's view - PubMed
Research into the use of transitional objects (Winnicott, 1971) by adult clients in psychotherapy has given little attention to the question of how a transitional object (TO) works. This question is addressed through the use of a semi-structured interview. Data was collected on the clinical practice …
Quality of healthcare websites: A comparison of a general-purpose vs. domain-specific search engine - PubMed
In a pilot study, we had five typical Internet users evaluate the quality of health websites returned by a general-purpose search engine (Google) and a healthcare-specific search engine (Healthfinder). The evaluators used a quality criteria developed by Mitretek/Health Information Technology Institu …

Turning blood into brain: cells bearing neuronal antigens generated in vivo from bone marrow - PubMed
Bone marrow stem cells give rise to a variety of hematopoietic lineages and repopulate the blood throughout adult life. We show that, in a strain of mice incapable of developing cells of the myeloid and lymphoid lineages, transplanted adult bone marrow cells migrated into the brain and differentiate …
Dynamics of electrohydraulic soft actuators | PNAS
Soft actuators have opened avenues for the design of robots that excel in unstructured environments. Electrohydraulic soft actuators are liquid-filled shells that deform due to electrostatic forces. This working principle enables large design freedom and actuator performance that rivals natural muscle. However, the fundamental physics that governs the dynamics of electrohydraulic soft actuators is virtually unexplored. Here, we show how scale, geometry, and materials system of the actuators, as well as external applied loads and voltages lead to actuation speeds that span multiple orders of magnitude. The presented principles and conclusions can readily be applied to analyze the dynamic behavior of various types of electrohydraulic actuators and to provide guidelines on how to increase actuation speed in bio-inspired robotic systems.

Osteopenia - premature infants: MedlinePlus Medical Encyclopedia
Osteopenia is a decrease in the amount of calcium and phosphorus in the bone. This can cause bones to be weak and brittle. It increases the risk for broken bones.

Turning brain into blood: a hematopoietic fate adopted by adult neural stem cells in vivo - PubMed
Stem cells are found in various organs where they participate in tissue homeostasis by replacing differentiated cells lost to physiological turnover or injury. An investigation was performed to determine whether stem cells are restricted to produce specific cell types, namely, those from the tissue …
