The experience of “reality” is a result of our sensory organs delivering information about the external world to our brains via electrical stimulus. The brain interprets this input and creates our reality. The ultimate goal of virtual reality (VR) is to achieve a true replacement for the external world as the source of these stimuli, thus creating true immersion, and a sense of “presence” that makes the virtual world seem just as real as the physical.
