Video Transcoding Using Network Processors to Support Dynamically Adaptive Video Multicast - Semant…
Heterogeneity of networks and end systems poses challenges for multicast based collaborative applications. In traditional multicasting, the sender transmits video at the same rate to all receivers independent of their network connection, end system equipment, and users' preferences. This wastes resources and may also result in some receivers having their quality expectations unsatisfied. This problem can be addressed, near the network edge, by applying dynamic, in-network transcoding of video streams. In this paper, we design, implement, and assess a network processor (NP) based video trans...
Patent US8897377 - Transcoding multiple media elements for independent wireless delivery - Google P…
Transcoding multiple media elements for independent wireless delivery. Respective media or multimedia elements are selectively and respectively encoded and/or transcoded. Such respective and selective processing of different media elements provides for their unbundled and independent communication to one or more other devices. In one instance, different respective overlays of a display (e.g., a computer, TV, PDA display, etc.) are respectively and selectively transcoded and/or encoded to generate different respective streams that may each be handled differently as a function of any number o...
Here we have the score and sound design I did in collaboration with GMUNK and the Bot & Dolly crew. Several months in the making, this was a special journey. I tried to evoke the magic through analog synthesis. Box is the culmination of multiple technologies, including large-scale robotics, projection mapping, and software engineering. Bot & Dolly's technology is an integrated software/ hardware platform providing innovative control of 6-axis industrial robots.
Take This Lollipop is a 2011 interactive horror short film and Facebook app written and directed by Jason Zada. It uses the Facebook Connect application to bring viewers themselves into the film, through use of pictures and messages from their own Facebook profiles. Starring actor Bill Oberst Jr. as 'The Facebook Stalker', the film acts to personalize and underscore the dangers inherent in posting too much personal information about oneself on the internet. The information gathered from a viewer's Facebook profile by the film's app is used once, and then deleted. The title is derived from t...

Once you see augmented reality apps in action, it's not hard to visualize how the technology could be used to really enhance a lot of static experiences to pretty much make them come alive.
This is a presentation I gave at the 2012 Augmented Reality Event on the AR Retail Hype Cycle. This covers different areas of AR commerce and retail such as d…
AR is not for every brand, but for those in particular sectors - retail, CPG and automotive -- it can provide huge benefits, argues Mobile Theory's Scott Swanson.
