Fabric CLI: explore and automate Microsoft Fabric from your terminal (Generally Available) | Microsoft Fabric Blog | Microsoft Fabric
During FabCon Las Vegas, we introduced the Fabric CLI — a developer-first command-line tool that brings a familiar, file-system-like experience to working with Microsoft Fabric. Since then, thousands of developers have jumped in: exploring, scripting, and embedding the CLI into local workflows. But for many enterprise teams, one question kept coming up: “When will it … <p class="link-more"><a href="https://blog.fabric.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/fabric-cli-is-now-generally-available-explore-and-automate-microsoft-fabric-from-your-terminal/" class="more-link">Continue reading<span class="screen-reader-text"> “Fabric CLI: explore and automate Microsoft Fabric from your terminal (Generally Available)”</span></a>

Open and edit any semantic model with Power BI tools
This month, we’re excited to share a major milestone for Power BI modelling tools – Power BI Desktop is now compatible with any semantic model in Fabric. With this update, you’re no longer required to rely on external tools to edit a semantic model running in Fabric. At the same time, it enhances interoperability between external tools and Power BI Desktop, enabling them to do even more.

LLM tools: Likewise, you can use LLM tools to facilitate various aspects of report development, including the creation of custom visuals in DAX (via SVG visuals), R, Python, and Deneb.
Figma and Excalidraw: general-purpose design tools that you can use to facilitate the design for anything. For models, you might use Figma (FigJam, likely) or Excalidraw to create the conceptual or logical model for your semantic model during the design There are many other tools for doing this, including Visio or even the diagram view in Tabular Editor 3.
Tabular Editor: an end-to-end development tool that you can use either together with Power BI Desktop or as an alternative. Tabular Editor is an integrated development environment specialized for working with semantic models. It is designed from the ground up, to empower semantic model developers with everything they need to build good semantic models while being efficient.

All the different ways to authenticate to Azure SQL, Synapse, and Fabric
In this post I’ll go over all the details on acquiring access tokens to authenticate to any Microsoft SQL engine, including Azure SQL, Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric. We’ll explore users, service principals, managed identities, and Fabric Workspace Identity. Why would you want to do this? Well, if you’re looking to get programmatic access to your database / data warehouse, you’ll need to authenticate. In 2025, more often than not, you’ll be using Microsoft Entra ID to do so and this is where the fun begins.
