It's a family thing, not a Bat thing. Really. by [Anonymous]
"Why are you so familiar with the hospital? It wasn't when I was there with the Black Mercy thing, was it? I thought I saw you, but I assumed I'd been imagining it." Damian very pointedly doesn't say anything. But he doesn't disagree either and is looking everywhere else but at Steph. "You really like me!" she crows. Damian apparently has to respond to that. "-Tt- I was simply ensuring that you didn't give away any of my Father's secrets away when you awoke." "Riiiiiiiight, that doesn't even make sense," Steph says. "You like me. Admit it." Damian glares at her again. They walk past a few more houses and Steph can't suppress her grin. Steph's mom asks her to do a background check on a possible suitor, and Steph ends up involving Damian. This is adorable, with a great Steph voice and a surprising amount of "Oh, Damian."
Jaime needed more information. I mean, yeah, there were all these fish people here, and he was totally capable of punching them. But that was the Guy Gardner way of dealing with a situation. Jaime preferred the Ted Kord way of dealing with his problems. Why were there fish people in El Paso? Where did they come from? What did they want? And let’s start with, what exactly were they? Fish people are invading! Jaime and Khaji-Da to the rescue! This is just like reading the comics. So awesome! ♥
The Infernal Celibacy Rededication (Or how Roxy decided she didn't need her groove back after all) by [Anonymous]
I really liked this look at how Roxy came to be a reformed succubus - how she made her choice and keeps making it every day. With some wonderful cameos. I would love to know more about the Victorian Middleman we meet in this story.
"Soooo, are you Robin Hood? I understand dropping the green—the black works—but where's the hat? And the tights?" He blinks, then scrubs a hand through his short hair. "Ah, no. And please don't ever suggest that to them." "Darcy! Call Eric! God, this will..." Jane's voice fades out as she likely heads off to examine another broken piece of equipment. Darcy looks at the hatch, then back at the guy. "Should I call Eric? Or do you have any pull with Coulson?" Suspicion narrows his eyes. "You want SHIELD to replace everything?" "Damn straight. And get us a better panic button." "In return for...not suggesting that I'd look good in tights," he says slowly. She gives his legs a good up and down, letting herself enjoy the moment, and the skin-tight fit. "Yeah, you probably would." Hee! Awesome Darcy/Clint! Yay!
'Was I always that something else?' Irian says with an urgency she did not anticipate within herself. 'Could it have ended differently? Do things ever change?' Ged blinks. 'Some things,' he says slowly, 'are unchanging, I thought: the sea, the sun, the wind that moves the grass around us. And yet, the sea moved and Soléa was lost, the dry land is green once more, and the doors of Roke are open. And that, I am told, was your doing. Yes, Irian, I think things change, but we must husband that change along. Little use if we plant the seed and fail to tend to it.' 'And must I be the seed and the farmer too then?' 'Orm Irian, I am an old man on a farm that yields nothing but hard work and rebellious goats. It is not for me to tell you what you should do: a Dragon Lord is one whom dragons will speak with, not someone who can command dragons, eh? A pretty fix we'd be in if some fool tried to leash dragons.' Absolutely gorgeous story of Tehanu and Orm Irian coming back to Gont after some time on the other wind.
With Dinah and Helena unavailable and Dick in Gotham, Babs goes out in the field to snare some drug dealers in Bludhaven. Things do not go quite according to plan, but she's still a bamf. With hilarious running commentary from Helena, and a nice cameo from Amy Rohrbach.
“My point is, we almost got killed and your next move is to write a strongly worded letter?” “Of course,” Evelyn said planting her hands on her hips, not the most graceful of moves when one was currently sitting on the sand next to a fire. “How else will the Bembridge Scholars realize that they have areas which require significant improvement?” Absolutely note-perfect coda to the first movie, with a great Evie voice and a really clear vision of her relationship with Rick - how much he loves her and why, and why she reciprocates. ♥
I really liked this repositioning of Agrabah as a world of the future, where magic has replaced technology, and no one's quite sure how it works, but Jasmine is on the case and will figure out what needs to be done. Highly enjoyable.
This story is basically everything good that fanfic is: a caper where Jean and Locke pretend to be married, and then have the realization that they're in love with each other, featuring snappy banter, hot sex and insults as endearments. *beams* It wasn't written for me, but it could have been. The perfect happy coda to Red Seas that we will never get in canon. ♥♥♥
Bucky makes a bit of a drunken pass at Steve, which makes things awkward between them for a little bit, but they work it out with adorable hotness. I also really liked how respectful this was of Peggy, and also the interactions among the Howling Commandos (team! yay!).
Really wonderful story about Tommy and how he settles in (or doesn't) when Mrs. Kaplan decides to take him (and Teddy) in after discovering they're living at the warehouse. Really gets at how much Tommy wants (needs) to run, but also how maybe he could find a place to stop occasionally.
This Post-Postmodern Age Is All Business by [Anonymous]
This is really good - it does a really great job exploring what effect Hannah's work situation would have on her relationship with Jacob, and how she would deal with it. there's a nice tension running through the whole thing - I really wasn't sure how it was going to end, though I really like the way it did.
"I'm not Superman, Bucky. I'm still me." It was important to him that Bucky knew that. "I know you're still you, Rogers," Bucky said. "You're just…" he trailed off, studying Steve closely. "Just what?" Steve asked, flushing. It was Bucky's turn to shrug. "Just more, I guess," he said after a moment. "More you, which doesn't make any fucking sense--forget I said anything, okay?" "Okay," Steve answered, pleased. It reminded him of what Dr. Erskine had said. Sweet and wistful first time for Steve and Bucky, who realize that they are in fact the stupidest men on the planet. Oh, heart. Insults as endearments ftw!
It is hard to describe exactly how strange these two beings are. Their manner of dress is unlike any I have ever seen. They wear trousers, but trousers quite unlike the ones worn by the northern barbarians. Their trousers are made out of stiff fabric and held together at the waist by a strange, metal fixture. From their repeated exclamations when we tried to examine the fixture, we think that it is called a "whoawatchit." They wear some type of short-sleeved tunic, one with an amazingly realistic painting on the front of it. And over their tunics they wear strange over-garments of inexplicable shapes. We spent half the night questioning them and have received absolutely no new information, except that one or both of them appear to be named "Dude." They seem harmless enough and don't seem intelligent enough to be spies, but of course we will be prudent in dealing with them. At the moment they are being kept isolated and guarded. Perhaps the townspeople know who they are. Hee! Bill and Ted land at Mieza when Hephaistion is there and he is most puzzled by them. Hilarious.
This crossover takes Jaime's story with the Reach and puts it into the future during Terry's time as Batman (and Matt's Robin yay!). Highly enjoyable (even I'm still a little WTF? at Bruce and Wally being a couple). Very cool!
all maps lead to el paso - Anonymous - Blue Beetle (Comic) [Archive of Our Own]
“And the thing is, everybody should get to beat up evil robots,” Kon said. “So – want to go beat up evil robots?” Paco grinned. “Just let me go get my stick,” he said. OMG THE AWESOME BRO-VENTURES OF PACO & KON! This is hilarious and heartwarming and it put the hugest smile on my face and I recommend you read it right the fuck now. I draw a million sparkly hearts around it. ♥♥♥♥♥♥
Comfort and Joy - Anonymous - Young Allies [Archive of Our Own]
It had been a stressful day, but in the end, what she would remember wasn't the pain or the stress, but the fact that even as far away from home as she was, she would never be alone. Family didn't necessarily mean blood, and Anya, Steve, the Allies, and the Avengers - they were as much family as any girl could ask for. Rikki gets injured, but it's okay - she has friends who love her and will take care of her. Oh, Rikki. ♥
in this world of hope and risk - Anonymous - Hanna (2011) [Archive of Our Own]
Her father had taught her to survive in the wild, to speak many languages, to defend herself, to kill. He had not taught her what to do once Marissa was dead. Perhaps he had not known himself. Then again, perhaps he had thought he would survive and they could learn together what came next. Her future stretches out before her, her path uncertain and full of decisions that only she can make for herself. Hanna takes in another breath, lets it out slowly. It is strange, she finds, having choices, being able to decide between more than two options (flip the switch or don’t, kill Marissa or die). Ridiculously lovely post-movie fic in which Hannie decides to find Sophie and Sophie hopes to be found. Wistful and full of hope. Hanna totally deserves a life of kissing Sophie and listening to music. *hearts*
Sokka gets captured by Zuko in s1. During his escape attempt, things don't go exactly as planned. On the other hand, he does get to have awesomely hot, if completely awkward, sex with Zuko. This is utterly HILARIOUS, with a great Sokka voice. I laughed out loud more than once.
Sirius loved him and he wanted to tell the world, but he couldn't open his mouth to his best friend. He wondered if Moony deserved better. Love didn't measure well in worth, no more than gold measured well in miles. There weren't equations and conversion rates. It just was and Remus knew that even if there was some sort of scale, he wouldn't care to check it. Sirius is afraid to tell James he and Remus are together. This is really lovely and the ending made me sniffly.

For once, it was hard as hell to figure out where he and Tim stood. They weren’t just friends, but calling each other their boyfriend felt a little too weird—-territory that was too far off the beaten path for either of them. They were something, and it was an important something, but it didn’t have a name or a definition yet. Tim kissed Kon, but then nothing. Kon tries to figure out what happens next. Oh, my heart. *sniffle*
But then, Steve’s always been a better man than Bucky, always been the better of the two of them, and Bucky thinks that Steve can handle it, can handle the weight and the pressure and the responsibility of it all, because for as much as Steve carries the world, Bucky has always carried Steve. Lovely snippet of unrequited Bucky-Steve. Oh Bucky.
