Mamihlapinatapai: A look shared by two people, each wishing that the other would initiate something that they both desire but which neither wants to begin. Kon watches Tim and pines. *happy sigh*
Dick has been and will always be the second best worst idea Jason has ever and will ever have. Although, Babs would be worse by a long shot, and there are no words to describe the failure and fallout that would be Bruce. By comparison, and from certain angles, Dick almost looks less like the holy grail of fuck ups. As long as Jason’s sane enough to realize that, he’s probably doing okay. Jason takes in a stray. It's both more and less complicated than he expected. I really like how aware of his own brokenness Jason is in this, and also I enjoyed seeing Dick through his eyes.
Normal speed people could say, "Hey, should I go left or right? Wait, is this even the right neighborhood?" Flash just had to move before he hit a wall or a car or a person. There was just so much stuff that you had to kind of let your reflexes take over. Like deciding whether to catch the orange or duck--if you stopped to think about it, it'd hit you in the face. Well, Shayera had a mean arm, but Flash still had plenty of time to decide if he should catch it and throw it back or grab it half way or just disappear before she actually let go. (He ended up moving behind her and saying, "You missed" before her eyes could finish telling her brain that he'd vanished. Shayera hated that, but, hey, you shouldn't waste fruit.) ♥WALLY♥
A few years after Sam and Dean die for good, Bobby gets a call about hunters being killed. He has to lay some old ghosts to rest. Of course Bobby has to clean up their mess one last time. Hard and heartbreaking.
Dan looked across the room from his still blank computer screen. It didn’t help that Natalie had assigned him a segment on the build up to the FIFA World Cup in Korea and Japan. Being as it was the first time the tournament was to be held in Asia it was supposed to be a big deal. Dan tried to point out that it was still a soccer tournament, and likely no one cared. “Two billion people beg to differ, Danny,” Natalie said with a grin. “Do the story.” Dan grumbled and accepted his punishment— “It is not a punishment,” Natalie said. “It’s an assignment.” The smug look on her face, however, suggested differently. —and pegged Natalie as a sadist (what that said about himself, he chose to ignore). Lovely, in character, post-series Dan/Natalie.
Robin and Artemis get captured by Black Mask during recon, but it's okay--they are BAMFs who can rescue themselves. I enjoyed this a lot. (YJ animated)
"You're aware that you share a home state, right?" "She didn't come from my Connecticut," Dan said. "My Connecticut didn't have town troubadours." "Not many people's does." "Unless those people are Rory Gilmore." "Sometimes I suspect not even then." "Hallucinations produced by mass hysteria?" Dan nodded sagely. "I've wondered about that before, too." "Guys, please don't talk about Stars Hollow when I'm not around," Rory said, suddenly and miraculously standing in their doorway. "You always end up with those crazy conspiracy theories, and then you both give me weird looks for weeks." Rory Gilmore works at SportsNight. AWESOME! I draw a million sparkly hearts around this crossover.
M'gann ropes Superboy into helping her get Robin and Wally together, but things don't go as she plans. I expected a comedy from that description, but oh, this story is delicate and melancholy and full of M'gann's loneliness and yearning to belong.
"Nightwing left Blüdhaven." The hairs on the back of Steph's neck rise. "Jesus. I'm not that good. If he couldn't hack it, no way I can." Batgirl spreads her hands. "We could." Steph shrugs. "But you don't have a reason to go." She gets up and balances her way along the edge of the roof. "Gotham is safe. Blüdhaven isn't." "But you live here." Batgirl shrugs. "I can move. Come with me." She can see it now -- Batgirl and Spoiler, taking down the hardened, nasty thugs of Blüdhaven, saving the city from itself, quick and fast and partners -- because Nightwing didn't have one, and it might make all the difference. Steph and Cass move to Bludhaven after Steph gets fired. Kon comes along as backup. So adorably awesome. ♥
What Comes In A Little Foil Package And Causes Chaos? by
(YJ animated) It didn't seem to have occurred to most of the Justice League that they'd left a pair of opposite sex, potentially heterosexual, one-half smitten and entirely hormonal teenagers to cohabit at least occasionally unchaperoned. To those it had occurred, opinions varied: most seemed to be under the impression that Superboy was sexless, potentially literally; many didn't realize that Martians and humans were sexually compatible. The Flash had pulled a bemused face and informed her that it wasn't unusual for four-month-olds to have babysitters. Anyone who was concerned had politely turned a blind eye or shrugged it off on the same basis that no one ever questioned Batman keeping little boys in his house. And absolutely no one was more painfully and thoroughly aware than Black Canary of how far J'onn's poor little green niece had fallen for Superman's woebegotten clone. It was all up to her. This is hilarious and adorable.
Superboy joins the Boys Scouts because he thinks it'll make Superman like him more. Clark clues in eventually. I expected this to be funny (angry crafts!) and it is, but oh, my heart, it totally made me sniffly and achy in the chestal area.
Greetings from the Twineball (Wish You Were Here) by
“Do you think they miss being in the wild?” he asks. “Nah,” Wally says casually. “Most of them were probably bred in captivity. They don’t know any better.” Superboy nods slowly. He presses his hands up against the glass, staring at one of the baby penguins, fuzzy and grey and huddled in a corner. It’s better out here, he wants to tell it. Which is stupid, because it’s a penguin, but that doesn’t stop the ache inside. This is an adorable look at Superboy and Wally becoming friends. Too bad Wally's not more like this on the actual show.
Really well done. When Damian is Damian Wayne, the world is his oyster. He is the son of Bruce Wayne, one of the richest men in the world. He can go anywhere. He can do anything. But Damian Al’Ghul is like a shadow he can’t kick off. It sticks to him. It follows him everywhere. He can’t get rid of it. Eventually he stops trying.

Original Cindy has always allowed for the possibility that the right guy might tempt her to give bi a shot. It's just that she's pretty sure Alec MacDowell has never immediately leaped to anybody's mind as "the right guy" for anything legal, let alone non-destructive. If what they're doing here can be described as non-destructive. Original Cindy's withholding judgment for now. Really nice, drama-free Original Cindy/Max/Alec threesome. Gets Cindy's voice just right.
Eeeeeee! Avatar mashed up with Firefly! Katara's ship Appa rarely takes on passengers, but when Zuko, Iroh, and Yue come aboard, things get exciting. Shiny!
Gaila/Uhura/language=OT3. This is a wonderful little story in which Gaila tells Uhura that the slaves of Orion have their own language. "Please comment on the following lines of poetry: I long for scenes where man has never trod; A place where woman never smil'd or wept." "Why is it always the men who are doing and the women who are feeling?" she snaps. "When I explore space, I'm going to smile and tread." And all the men who see me will weep with longing, she adds in her head. Even the anatomically incompatible ones.
♥APPA♥ Um, if I need to say more than that, this story deals with something I always wished would happen on the show but didn't. *happy sigh*
Lovely, understated story of Batman not quite getting it, and also Superman's (totally requited) crush on him. Aw, Batman, just give in to the inevitable. It's less painful and more fun that way.
Really lovely, understated Toph/Katara story. Katara's no mother hen, not really, and she'd never ask Toph to stay, but she's glad she can provide a base for her, for whenever she wants it. And she hopes, quietly, that one day Toph might consider it to be a home.
