He's quiet for a long minute, then whispers, "I'm sorry this didn't work out. I know you wanted us all to have a place." "Yeah," she says in answer. She wants to say more, about family and home, but she's still not sure Alec really understands what she means by either of those things. Lovely, quiet moment between Max and Alec as they make the decision to go to ground. Wistful but full of hope, too.
Four and a half hours into his shift and they were well into a knock-down, drag-out fight of their own. Five hours into it, and they were frantically taking off their clothes. Each of them swears the other one started it. One of them's right about that, and it's not Alec, even though he doesn't want to give her the satisfaction of admitting it. Max is bossy. Alec digs that. Very hot.
And Dean has to admit, some of it sounds cool the way Sam explains it. Dean likes the idea of two different bodies of water meeting and mixing: freshwater and saltwater, governed by immutable tidal forces, swirling together and creating something unique. Sam tells him that some of the animals and fish and shit down here wouldn't survive anywhere else. This is a place outside other places, where two things that shouldn't fit together… do. / He doesn't really need to analyze why that one strikes a chord. Wonderfully done first time Sam/Dean wrapped up in an exceptionally creepy apocalyptic casefile.
Sonatas and Nocturnes - Ishyko - Little Women - Alcott [Archive of Our Own]
The ending Little Women should have had, with Jo going to Paris and hooking up with Laurie again. And being allowed to be her brilliant, practical, melodramatic self. ♥
do zla boga - Anonymous - American Gods - Gaiman [Archive of Our Own]
So why, astute readers may wonder, do some older gods survive? Why are they, too, not forgotten in the wind, lost to newer gods with deeper thorns and larger armies at their back? / If I tell you it is good deeds and miracles, you will know that I am lying. Sharp, creepy story well in keeping with the tone of the book.
Tipping The Balance - Anonymous - Graveyard Book - Gaiman [Archive of Our Own]
“So, it was a dark and stormy night in Prague,” Eli intoned. Silas frowned and said, “Yes, it was, actually.” “Wow, you two really did grow up together,” Jojo said with a snicker and Bod and Silas exchanged the puzzled glance of the pop culturally illiterate. While I don't really buy the pairing, this is a lovely story of Bod growing up outside the graveyard, and Silas coming in and out of his life, still. Really captures the feel of the book, and the ending is perfect.
Deck the Tree with False Blossoms - Anonymous - Leverage [Archive of Our Own]
"We could always go for an Ocean's Thirteen," Hardison suggested. "No one understands what happened in that movie anyway." The crew tries a con without Sophie. Needless to say, things do not go as planned, but she handles that with aplomb. Adorable.
First and Last Rites - Anonymous - Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles [Archive of Our Own]
"Savannah, I know you miss your mother," she says, not turning to look at Savannah but staring at the white lines of the Interstate. Sarah wonders if the girl ever suspected there was something off about Weaver. She must have, a child would always know its own mother, just as a mother would always know her child—Sarah has to believe that Sarah takes Savannah to keep her safe (train her) after Born to Run. Sharp and smart and not a little heartbreaking
brother, how we must atone (before we turn to stone) by
Stars entrance Dean when’s he’s halfway to passed out or further. Sam has no idea why, hasn’t bothered asking in case it stops Dean looking for them. It probably would. / It’s quiet, feels like someone’s stuffed cotton into his ears. Everything’s warm and muffled. It doesn’t feel like anything could touch them at the moment. Like Sam could keep driving like this and that would be enough to keep them safe, forever. To maybe heal this thing between them that feels like it’ll never get better. Heartbreaking yet hopeful. Dean gets drunk and says some things he needs to say to Sam, some things Sam probably needs to hear, even if he can't believe them himself. Oh, boys. The show really needs to do something like this, and soon.
Sisters of Bilhah - Anonymous - Handmaid's Tale - Atwood [Archive of Our Own]
Amazing and terrifying - fills in all the stuff the novel didn't - couldn't - in a horrifyingly plausible way that never ever goes over the top. Really well done.

"Rome is always the same," she said at last. "The world has changed so much. But Rome - I have always felt young in Rome." *sniffle* The end of Roman Holiday makes me ache and cry (and cry), and to think they might get a second chance is absolutely wonderful. ♥

"There was once a Very Special Quackening Day episode of My Favorite Frenemy," J.Lo went on. And Ha'barish went onto a different shop and traded his holographic movies to get a case forto hold Garack'chin's Stickyfish paddle. Oh. Absolutely fantastic epilogue to the book. ♥♥♥♥♥
Finding Zihuatanejo - Anonymous - Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption - King [Archive of Our Own]
It was a couple of very long legs before the driver announced Zihuatanejo, a little town as beautiful as the name suggested, but I was content to stare out the window and doze. Maybe I was a worn-out old man, but I was one who was tasting freedom. The Pacific was every damned bit as blue as I'd imagined, and a sweet little señorita in a dress of almost the same color pointed down the beach to where the new hotel was. Lovely missing scene, with a spot-on Red voice.
T is for Transcend - Anonymous - Y the Last Man [Archive of Our Own]
Just because all the XYs died, it doesn't mean all the men did. This fixes a huge hole in the canon, and also gives us two new characters to root for. Wonderful - stories like this are what fanfic is for.
And anyone who's ever had a heart - Anonymous - White Collar [Archive of Our Own]
After that she'd made Peter's new obsession a bit more of a priority. Before seeing the picture, she'd just slotted Neal Caffrey in as one more thing Peter's brain couldn't let go of, and amusing yourself while your spouse hunted down the greatest international art thief of the age was certainly classier than being a football widow. She'd never been concerned about it, not really. After seeing the picture, well. She still hadn't been concerned, but she was maybe a little more... cognizant of the possibilities. And that meant doing her own research, being a little more available for Peter to bounce ideas and hypotheses off of, that sort of thing. Of course the problem with learning more about Neal Caffrey was that the more you learned, the more you liked him. Peter definitely did. Elizabeth even suspected sometimes that Peter maybe admired him a little. / She's not sure how to feel now that she knows that it's mutual. Absolutely wonderful OT3 story.

Peter sends Neal into an undercover situation that is way more complicated than either of them bargained for. Awesomely hilarious crossover with Leverage (see also, Yang)
