As so often happens, the reality of the lives of Hades and Persephone cannot possibly compare to the epic saga that our imaginations have concocted. This is not a romantic story. But it is a story of love, nonetheless. Hee! This is an awesome, funny, touching re-telling of the Persephone myth, full of banter and hilarity.

"You have done this before, right?" She rolled her eyes. "Because I've been waiting for you." "I'm worth waiting for," he insisted. She pecked him on the lips. "I'm certainly waiting now." hee! So very Indy and Marion, over the course of the years.

I really enjoyed this. DEATH asks Granny Weatherwax to take his christening gift for Susan to her. Her parents aren't quite sure how to respond. Hilarious and adorable.

The mental image of himself is pleasantly pathetic, a beaten man who learned his lesson the hard way. He could be a cautionary tale. A comfortable, drunk cautionary tale with easy access to decent porn. Charlie takes Ted and Dani to Vegas. Ted wonders why. Smart look at all three of them through Ted's eyes, with spot-on characterization.

The Aunt and the Ankh
The Aunt and the Ankh
Lack of fondness for newts on the part of the putative father-in-law had been the undoing of many an engagement of Gussie's. It had often made me wish I'd had the foresight to cultivate some obscure and socially unacceptable hobby in my youth, something I could pull out at necessary intervals to extricate myself from unwanted matches. Competitive blancmange eating, say, or, collecting potatoes that resemble famous politicians. Hee! Hilarity at a wedding, with a fine Bertie voice.

Dillon, Texas, a few years down the line. I enjoyed seeing the futures laid out for all the kids and then there is the reason they all come back to town. *sniffle* Clear eyes. Full hearts. Can't lose.

Creepy yet beautiful meditation on what it means to live forever. I really like how the gods are all both human and distantly other at the same time.

Oh, *heart*. This is exactly the sort of thing the show does so well - throw together two characters you wouldn't expect, and see how they get along. And Tim, for all his *waves hands* issues, is a decent boy at heart. And Lorraine is just heartbreaking. And Matt! I could totally hear Matt in my head. Just perfect.

Gus is *totally* one of us, and he totally writes for yuletide every year (though I have to disagree with his stance on Xander's Lie. *ahem*). And Shawn! Trying to distract him with talk of rogue punctuation! Making the stapler and the tape dispenser kiss! So hilariously meta and ridiculously cute at the same time.

Laurie and Beth have a secret conversation. Could fit perfectly into canon while still making Beth feel like a real girl with very real hopes and fears. Very sweet and absolutely heartbreaking. *sniffle* You might need to put this story in the freezer. Have tissues handy.

Fire, Measured By What Doesn't Burn by [anonymous]
Absolutely stunning and heartwrenching modern recasting of the twelve dancing princesses. Breathtakingly beautiful and moving. Totally lives up to the hype. The wind was knocked out of you, suckerpunched away with the awareness that you never could tell safe from suicide bomber. Your mouth hung open and empty. She walked right past you without a second glance, her stilettos pointed in her hand like switchblades. Her bare feet were tiny; her head barely came to your shoulder. It felt like it took her all night to go, and by the time you could breathe, she was gone.

They didn't have any barbecue (Al noted, with some disdain), but you have to understand that to do barbecue right takes ten to twelve hours, and you don't delay celebrating your survival of the zombie apocalypse on account of macaroni and cheese not being good enough. How Rawhide became Rawhide. Absolutely note-perfect. Plus, zombies.

SO AWESOME! A new lead opens up the Felton case, and when Kay smells something hinky, she gets Meldrick and Mikey to help her out. the voices are spot on, the conclusions exceptionally gratifying, and the relationship dynamics perfectly in character. *heart*

"All I ask is to go home," he said. "I'd like to lie in my own bed with my wife beside me, and bore my son sick with tales of our great deeds." "You don't ask for glory?" she asked, her eyes sparkling. "If I can't manage that without your help, I probably don't deserve it," he said. Athena and Odysseus have a conversation during the funeral games for Patroclus. Vivid and lovely, with spot-on characterization and sharp dialogue.
