She can’t stand to think “I love you” could mean goodbye. Fantastic story of how Pepper and Tony could be together and mostly make it work. Sweet, poignant, heartbreaking, and true to both of them. Lovely.

Kay Howard is a detective. Even before she’s a woman or a friend or a fuck, she’s a detective. It’s who she is, it’s what she is. She won’t apologize for it, and she doesn’t regret it. Great look at Kay, really nails her character, though the story itself is AU.
