Aziraphale has certainly dabbled in the world of carnal delights over the years, most notably in the late nineteenth century, when a certain infernal adversary was enjoying a century-long nap and seemingly the only way to pass the time had been to develop some hobbies. What Aziraphale had discovered during those explorations was that he liked sex—the closeness, the affection, the sweat-slick drag of body against body—but he didn’t need it. There was no sharpness to his physical appetites, no urgency, little direction. He certainly didn’t experience anything like the drunkening haze of lust that he saw in his bed partners sometimes. It seemed like quite a nice state to be in; still, Aziraphale felt no real loss. He’d never understood the full appeal of risotto either, but there were plenty of other dishes to be enjoyed. This is adorable.

Aziraphale looked tired, and also sad, and Crowley found himself wishing that it hadn’t taken so long for Aziraphale to catch on that his superiors were essentially bastards. Aziraphale had the fixed idea that heaven was in favor of being nice to other people, to which Crowley had two responses, one: that didn’t work out too well for that poor bugger who got nailed to a cross, did it, and, two: they mean humans, they don’t mean you. He couldn’t manage to say either of those things in the face of Aziraphale’s expression, and turned his back so that he could stop looking at it. Oh heart.

Everything ever written had tried to capture this moment, this feeling in words, and Aziraphale was a being built to love, but even he was at a loss to describe it. It felt immense, overwhelming, intense and tender and everything in between, and it was rescued books and crepes and holy water in a thermos, and and and. Oh, this is lovely.

In their cottage in the South Downs, when Crowley eventually succeeds in getting Aziraphale to use a laptop, it takes Aziraphale literal hours to get past the default Windows screensavers of picturesque locations because 'oh, look, isn't it lovely, Crowley!' - 5 times Crowley knows he’s in love with Aziraphale + 1 time he knows the reverse. Exactly what it says on the tin. Such lovely pining. Happy sigh.
