where were you when I was king in this part of town? by
Dick breaks up a mugging and realizes there's something familiar about the homeless kid who didn't really need saving. Oh my heart. *sobs* The fact that he doesn't recognize him at first feels both true and extra heartbreaking.
have you been half asleep, and have you heard voices? by
Two-part series including the one where Steph finds Jason (and Cass) on the street and the one where Bruce tracks down Steph's daughter. GROSS SOBBING.
Jason comes back to Gotham after taking time to find himself. Bruce is thrilled to get his son back a second - and happier - time. Oh my heart. #i'm not crying it's just raining on my face
Bruce takes the kids on a night hike to do some stargazing. Hijinks ensue. Oh heart.I love that they act like a *family* here, not just an affiliated coalition of vigilantes.
Jason intends to visit Alfred at the Manor on Halloween and finds Bruce at the door instead. Reconciliation ensues. Oh my heart. #i'm not crying you're crying
Steph bribes Jason to attend her statistics class, where they are going to discuss superheroes. Things get hilariously out of hand. And in the second story, the rest of the Batfamily finds out. I laughed out loud a lot.
Steve gets hit with a curse that can only be lifted by true love's kiss. Too bad he's too oblivious to realize that Bucky's as in love with him as he is with Bucky. This is hilarious.
“I don’t know. I don’t know what I’m—” Sirius ran a hand through his hair frantically; he thought he might vomit, or pass out, or both. “I really want to kiss you, Remus.” The words hung over them on the still summer air like a mosquito net. Sirius took a shaky breath and closed his eyes, thinking that if he gave in to his current impulse and apparated to Iceland, he’d probably splinch the majority of his vital organs in the process. The resulting image didn’t seem too far off the mark, really: Remus sitting at the end of the dock next to a heap of wet guts. Just as his resolve to stay put began to falter, Remus broke the silence. “So kiss me.” Sirius spends the last full moon of the summer with Remus and they finally get it together enough to act on their feelings. Oh my heart. This is so lovely and evocative of long summer days full of yearning and nonsense.
Tim is surprised to find Jason is a student in the class on Shakespeare he's auditing, and they have to deal with each other. I could have read ten thousand more words of this.
Steve wasn't the only one. The little kids had their own version of it, riding their bikes all over town: getting out and getting exercise, from an adult perspective ("It's so wonderful you're not staying cooped up in your room all the time, Dusty!" Steve heard Dustin's mom enthuse, one of the times he was picking the kid up to drop him off at the arcade), while actually scouting the town for anything weird and dangerous. He knew that Jonathan and Nancy occasionally did the same thing in the woods in back of the Byers house, working as a team, Nancy with a gun, Jonathan with a camera to document problems for the Chief to take care of. Steve figures some things out. Nancy and Jonathan help.
5 times Jason Todd saved his siblings... and one time they saved him. I'm not sure what the timeline is here (I guess it actually follows canon?) but I enjoyed this look at Jason slowly warming up to his siblings.
The first story is exactly what it says on the tin - Bruce asking each of his adopted kids if he can adopt them - and the second is Tim's POV on when Bruce asks him. #i'm not crying you're crying
