Tim tries to avoid the family and also thinking about the future after he's stuck at home with a major injury. Dick and Jason won't let him wallow. Oh heart.
While walking home from an event at Wayne Enterprises, Tim and Damian are kidnapped and sent to an alternate dimension. In a world where superheroes are merely comic book characters and the idea of the multiverse is only a theory found within the pages of science fiction, how are Tim and Damian going to return home? How long will they be stranded on this strange Earth? And will the boys murder each other before they figure it out? I enjoyed watching Tim and Damian grow as people and as brothers in this, though some of the plot machinations towards the end felt a little contrived to me.
Dick and Jason go undercover to stop a kidnapping ring and things get out of hand. This is a lot of fun but heed the warnings. (could have used another beta to get rid of Britishisms)
Bruce is frozen, staring down at Cass’s deathly pale face. His mind is replaying the way he’d found Jason, sprawled face-down in the ruin, unbreathing, his drying blood staining the bright yellow cape, his hair singed, his head at a strange angle. “Bruce,” Jason says again, turning to look at him. “We need to get her to the Batmobile.” She’s not dead. He can still save her. It’s not too late. Cass is injured in an explosion and it brings back unpleasant memories for both Jason and Bruce.
It begins with another Bruce, looking around his cave and asking, “So where are the kids?” Bruce has never thought about having a family before. But once the idea occurs to him, it's hard to think about anything else. AU where Batman's never had a Robin, but discovers his kids via the multiverse and brings versions of them home. I enjoyed this.
When Jason Todd died, Bruce Wayne had a hard time letting go or dealing with any reminders of his son. When Jason Todd came back, what he needed to know was how much he had mattered. Fortunately, these things overlapped. Or, the story in which Jason listens to some voicemails for a dead boy— the boy who was him. GROSS SOBBING.
Instead of training him to kill, Talia brings Jason home after his dip in the Lazarus Pit. Everyone handles it better that way. Oh my heart. This is absolutely the kind of homecoming Jason deserved.
The revelation that Aziraphale might have been in love with him for thousands of years is surprising. The fact that literal books have been written on the subject comes as even more of a shock. Hee! Taking mutually oblivious pining the really long way around.
where were you when I was king in this part of town? by
Dick breaks up a mugging and realizes there's something familiar about the homeless kid who didn't really need saving. Oh my heart. *sobs* The fact that he doesn't recognize him at first feels both true and extra heartbreaking.
have you been half asleep, and have you heard voices? by
Two-part series including the one where Steph finds Jason (and Cass) on the street and the one where Bruce tracks down Steph's daughter. GROSS SOBBING.
Jason comes back to Gotham after taking time to find himself. Bruce is thrilled to get his son back a second - and happier - time. Oh my heart. #i'm not crying it's just raining on my face
Bruce takes the kids on a night hike to do some stargazing. Hijinks ensue. Oh heart.I love that they act like a *family* here, not just an affiliated coalition of vigilantes.
