"It's like the Resistance think they invented fucking," Rey huffs, and Finn feels himself bubble with unexpected laughter. Hee! Rey and Finn want to prove a point. Hot and adorable.
"This isn't a joke, right?" Steve says, voice so low, his hands firm over Bucky's ribs. His big eyes search for a tell. A bluff. "You're not just...This isn't a favor." "Explain how necking with an estranged assassin is a favor," Bucky replies, miffed. "You'd, uh, be surprised." "There's something backwards about you," Bucky mutters, going in for another kiss, harder this time, pushing until Steve lies down on the bed and then leaning over him. Bucky gets his memories back.
"But I was happy doing it because the whole time I thought, ‘I bet this will make Lorelai smile.’ I can’t tell you all the stupid stuff I’ve done over the years and liked doing just because I knew you would smile at it. And I don’t want there to ever be a day when you don’t feel like smiling and it’s my fault you feel that way. So if I’m making you feel bad, you have to tell me, okay? Because then I’m letting you down, and that’s the one thing I never want to do.” “Really?” she teases, starting to smile. “The one thing?” “I’m not wild about the idea of watching Stars Hollow Elementary’s production of Godspell either,” he says dryly, “but we both know you’re going to drag me into that one.” Emily saves the day and Luke and Lorelai talk instead of being stupid. The perfect s6 fix-it. *happy sigh*
Poe has other friends, he swears. He just always ends up with Finn and Rey somehow. Poe takes a while to clue in that Rey and Finn are including him because they want him. So adorable!
So Devil's Cub is my very favorite Heyer, and possibly my favorite romance of all time, and this version of it is utterly brilliant. I am completely entranced by this version of Mary and Dominic, and their continental adventures, plus the story redeems Mary's mother and sister, as well! Absolutely amazing.
