Long, thoughtful story of Bucky learning to live in the world again, and remembering how to be a person when Steve's not around. I especially like his friendship with Pepper in this.
Nicely done story about Steve recovering some letters from the Howling Commandos and using them to help Bucky get acquitted of the Winter Soldier's crimes.
Costis has been captured by the Mede, but Gen has a plan to get him back. Hijinks, as usual, ensue. Oh, poor Costis, always one step behind. This did a great job of evoking the books, even though here the Mede are faux-Roman rather than faux-Persian.
In which Bucky gets knocked out briefly during a mission, wakes up fine, and then spends a day enduring strange hints, clandestine looks, and cryptic texts from his friends. Steve will never let him live this one down. Oh, ♥
Jack gets hit with temporary amnesia and tries to hide it while working with Phryne on a case. Of course, she knows him too well to be fooled. Ah, lovely.
Brilliantly done AU where Phryne is a cat burglar and Jack is the police inspector on the case. I also really love the friendship between Jack and Mac here.
The story of Zhu Li and Varrick from their first meeting to their honeymoon. This does a great job with the voices (I laughed out loud a lot) and also with why Zhu Li would stay with him, and gets the emotional bits right too. Highly recommended.
The words you use are a sort of magic, too, because Tiffany’s thinking about all the problems with the story but she’s also thinking about the words “fell and wild”; she’s tucking them into the back of her mind, and thinking that in her next letter to Preston she’ll give those words to him. When he writes back he will say it sounds like wolves in the snow, or something else she could never have thought of, which will be exactly right in the way Preston’s ideas are always exactly right, exactly what she hadn’t known she’d always wanted to hear. in which Tiffany considers the future. Gets her down perfectly.
