Here Is The Latest Big 12 Conference Sports News From The Associated Press – Beckley Register-Herald https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/here-is-the-latest-big-12-conference-sports-news-from-the-associated-press-beckley-register-herald/ UNDATED (AP) — Tennessee has moved to No. 3 in The Associated Press college football poll behind No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Ohio State. It comes after the Volunteers knocked off Alabama, one of five unbeaten teams to fall during a wild weekend. The Crimson Tide dropped three to No. 6 and swapped places with the Vols after Tennessee kicked a field goal as time expired Saturday. Alabama is out of the top-five for the first time since 2019. Georgia is still No. 1 and received 31 first-place votes and No. 2 Ohio State had 17 first-place votes. NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Dillon Gabriel passed for 403 yards and Oklahoma defeated No. 19 Kansas 52-42 to end its losing skid at three games. Eric Gray ran for 176 yards, Marvin Mims had a career-high nine catches for 106 yards and Brayden Willis had five catches for a career-best 102 yards for the Sooners.  It was Oklahoma’s 18th straight win over Kansas. The Sooners haven’t lost to the Jayhawks since 1997. Jason Bean passed for 265 yards and four touchdowns for Kansas. Lawrence Arnold had 113 yards and two touchdowns receiving and Mason Fairchild had 106 yards and two touchdowns receiving for the Jayhawks. AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Quinn Ewers threw for three touchdowns including the go-ahead score with less than five minutes remaining as No. 22 Texas rallied to defeat Iowa State 24-21 on Saturday. The Longhorns trailed 21-17 when Ewers connected with Xavier Worthy to put Texas up for good. The Cyclones drove to the Texas 28 before linebacker Jaylan Ford recovered a fumble by quarterback Hunter Dekkers with 2:28 to play. Moments earlier, it looked like Iowa State might go back in front but receiver Xavier Hutchinson dropped a pass inside the Texas 10. MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Casey Legg kicked a 22-yard field goal with 33 seconds left to lift West Virginia to a 43-40 victory over Baylor. West Virginia’s Tony Mathis scored on a 34-yard run with 7:05 left and set up the winning field goal with a 37-yard run to the Baylor 8. Mathis finished with a career-high 163 rushing yards Thursday night. Baylor had one last chance starting from its 23-yard line. But backup quarterback Kyron Drones threw two incompletions and he was tackled near midfield on a scramble as time ran out. Drones came on in relief of Blake Shapen, who was injured on a helmet-to-helmet hit in the third quarter and did not return. FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Kendre Miller scored on a 2-yard run in the second overtime and 13th-ranked TCU beat No. 8 Oklahoma State 43-40 in a matchup of the Big 12′s last remaining undefeated teams. Fans stormed the field after Miller got into the end zone for the 6-0 Horned Frogs, who had gone into the fourth quarter trailing by two touchdowns. The teams traded touchdowns in the first overtime. Oklahoma State got the ball to start the second overtime, but after a holding penalty and three incomplete passes in a row, the Cowboys had to settle for Tanner Brown’s fourth field goal, a 52-yarder. NEW YORK (AP) — The Big 12 Conference has come back from the brink. Last summer, it was sent reeling when Oklahoma and Texas said they will be leaving for the Southeastern Conference. New Commissioner Brett Yormark is trying to rebuild the Big 12’s brand. He wants to set a new narrative for a league known for years of instability. For now, things are going well: Half of the Big 12’s football teams are ranked the AP Top 25. It has also had a team in the men’s Final Four every year since 2018 — and won the national title two years in a row. NEW YORK (AP) — Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark says he has had “meaningful” conversations with ESPN and Fox as the conference explores striking a media rights deal almost two years before the current contract expires. The Big 12 announced in late August it planned to engage ESPN and Fox, even though the exclusive negotiating window between the conference and the networks does not open until February 2024. The Big 12′s deals with the networks expire in June of that year. Yormark says there is no timetable for the discussions to produce a deal. He says ESPN and Fox would be the two best partners to boost the Big 12 brand. FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Max Duggan has gone from losing his job as TCU’s starting quarterback to being one of the nation’s best passers. He is exceling in coach Sonny Dykes’ system after the new coaching staff initially went with a different starter than the guy who started most of the past three seasons. Duggan has thrown for 1,305 yards and a Big 12-best 14 touchdowns with one interception. Redshirt freshman Chandler Morris started the opener before getting hurt. Dykes says he has been impressed with how Duggan has handled the entire situation. Duggan says he was initially disappointed but never felt sorry for himself. Copyright 2022 The Associated Press. Disappointing Data About Meta Creates Doubt On Metaverse Timeline Loup Ventures Seeking Alpha
‘Disappointing’ Data About Meta Creates Doubt On Metaverse Timeline – Loup Ventures – Seeking Alpha https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/disappointing-data-about-meta-creates-doubt-on-metaverse-timeline-loup-ventures-seeking-alpha/ Loup Ventures analyst Gene Munster said Monday that leaked documents from Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) showing slower-than-projected growth of its key metaverse platform represent a “very clear disappointment.” In an interview with CNBC, the Loup Ventures founder and managing partner also suggested that the lack of dramatic consumer demand for the metaverse concept put the timeline for the overall technology in doubt. “[The news] begs the question, which is how long is the metaverse really away here? How far are we away from this actually taking off?” he asked. Citing internal documents, the Wall Street Journal over the weekend reported that META has had fewer than 200K users sign up for its Horizon Worlds offering, the centerpiece of its metaverse development. The company had targeted a figure of 500K monthly active users. With the current number about two-fifths of that total, the firm has lowered its year-end goal to 280K. Munster said he would have hoped the monthly active user total would be closer to 1M at this point and described the core issue as “a chicken and an egg problem.” He noted that disappointing adoption rates are tied to the expensive gear required to use the technology. Specifically, he noted that the cheapest headset that META has to access the metaverse comes in at $400. Munster argued that the company needed to get that figure down to the $100 range. Overall, Munster remained upbeat on META’s long-term future. He contended that betting on the technology was effectively a gamble that there will be a user-engagement platform in the future other than mobile devices. “I’m still positive on where this company can go and more positive on the long-term potential of the metaverse,” he said. “I’m still optimistic that we’re going to find a way forward and this will be something.” The Loup Ventures managing partner noted that while META has become the most prominent symbol of the development of the metaverse, it is far from the only big-name tech firm making a sizable investment in the technology. Specifically, he noted pushes from the likes of Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), Google (GOOG) (GOOGL) and Samsung. For another long-term look at Meta’s prospects, Seeking Alpha contributor Dilantha De Silva says the company’s stock will be “nowhere near” its current levels in five years.

9 Tips On How To Save Money On Gadgets Tech Guide
9 Tips On How To Save Money On Gadgets Tech Guide
9 Tips On How To Save Money On Gadgets – Tech Guide https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/9-tips-on-how-to-save-money-on-gadgets-tech-guide/ If you’re a tech lover, you know that the newest gadgets are always tempting. But with prices so high, it can be difficult to pass up buying that expensive new phone or laptop. Luckily, there are ways that you can save money on your new gadgets without having to give up all of your favorite tech toys. Here are nine tips for saving money when buying gadgets: 1. Compare Prices Online When you’re looking for a new gadget, it’s easy to get caught up in the moment and just buy the first thing you see. But if you take a few minutes to compare prices online, you might be able to save some money. There are lots of different websites that let you compare prices. For example, you can use Google Shopping to find the best prices on the web. This is a free tool that lets you search for items by keyword or product name and displays results from different retailers. 2. Don’t Buy Expensive Accessories There are many accessories you can buy for your gadgets. However, if you want to save money, don’t buy any of them. Yes, this may seem like a strange thing to say, but it’s true. If you’re going to use your accessory and enjoy it, it’s okay to spend some cash on it; however, if you can get away without buying the accessory and still use your device in exactly the same way (or better), there’s no need for the extra expense. The most common example is cases for phones or tablets; people often load up on these things because they think they need them or because everyone else has one too! This isn’t necessarily true though: there are plenty of cases out there that cost less than half as much as top-of-the-line models do (and even some free ones). Submitting an application for personal loan may seem like an okay deal at first glance, but you should always look into all of your options before taking the plunge. You might find that there are cheaper ways to get the same thing, or perhaps even better deals out there if you just ask around! 3. Consider Buying Used Gadgets If you’re looking to save some cash, consider buying used gadgets. This is a great option for those who want to buy new-looking products without paying top dollar. However, it’s also important to ensure that you’re dealing with a reputable seller when purchasing pre-owned items. Make sure the seller has positive reviews and isn’t selling counterfeit products. Ensure that the seller offers a warranty on used products so that you can get free repairs or replacements if something goes wrong after purchase (even if the warranty period has expired). If you’re going to buy used, it’s also a good idea to ensure that the product is still in working order. You can do this by taking it into a repair shop or testing it yourself before making an offer on the item. 4. Shop for Last Year’s Model One of the best ways to save money on gadgets is by shopping for last year’s model. Not only are last year’s models less expensive, but they’re often just as good (or even better) than the current model. If you’re buying a phone and don’t really care about having the latest features, then this method will save you even more money than usual. There are some exceptions to this rule: if your old gadget has something seriously wrong with it—like a broken screen or battery—you should probably just upgrade immediately instead of waiting until next year. But if your gadget is still working fine, there’s no reason not to wait until next year’s model comes out before upgrading again. 5. Watch for Sales Sales are the best way to save money on gadgets. This is because many stores have sales during certain times of the year, such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Stores like Amazon and Best Buy also have regular sales where they offer discounts on popular products. You can find out when these sales occur by following some of your favorite websites or social media accounts (like Facebook). No matter what you’re buying, thorough research is crucial. Make a search for both physical businesses and online retailers. Never forget that buying devices online is typically less expensive than doing it in a physical store. 6. Watch for Coupon Codes Coupon codes can be a great way to save money on gadgets, but they aren’t always easy to find. You’ll need patience and persistence when searching for these codes because it can take a lot of work and time before you find the right one. A good place to start is on social media sites like Facebook or Twitter where businesses will often post information about their latest deals in order to get more people interested in their products and services. If you’re interested in finding coupon codes online, don’t forget that Google also has an extensive list of websites dedicated solely to finding coupons and discounts on all kinds of products! 7. Don’t Buy Things You Don’t Really Need I’ve written about this before, but it’s worth repeating: don’t buy something just because it’s on sale. If you don’t need it, don’t get it! Likewise, don’t buy something just to keep up with the Joneses or for the sake of having something “cool.” If you can help it, don’t go into debt over things that cost more than they’re worth (or cost more than what was originally intended). Lastly—and this is where I think most people have trouble—don’t buy anything simply because you think you might need it someday. Most of us have an item or two that we could probably do without; in fact, there are probably several items in our closets right now that we’ve been meaning to donate for years! 8. Try Out Free Trial Versions A great way to save money on gadgets is to try out free trial versions first. You may be able to get a month-long trial period for most of your favorite apps and games, so it’s worth looking into. For example, Adobe offers a free version of its Photoshop program. You can also try out a free trial version of many other software programs, including Microsoft Office or Adobe Creative Cloud. If you like what you see, then you’ll have to pay for a full license; otherwise, just cancel your subscription before the trial period ends. 9. Look for Refurbished Gadgets If you’re looking to save money on new gadgets, the best way is to find a refurbished version of it instead of buying one that’s brand new. Refurbished products are usually cheaper than buying an entirely new product because they have been previously tested and repaired by a manufacturer or retailer and have had any cosmetic damage fixed up as well. You can also get them with warranties like you would if you bought a new gadget from the store. One of the main reasons people buy refurbished products is because they want to save money. It’s a great way to get the latest gadgets without breaking your budget. You’ll find them on sites like eBay or Amazon, but also in some brick-and-mortar stores as well. These Tips will help You Spend More Wisely When Buying Gadgets When it comes to buying a gadget, there are two kinds of people: those who want the latest and greatest and will pay whatever it costs, and those who don’t really care about having the latest technology. For example, if you’re upgrading from an older phone that still works just fine but needs a battery replacement or screen repair, you might be happy with what you have. But for some people (like me), saving money isn’t always as easy as it sounds. We want to buy all kinds of things—gadgets included—and we don’t always feel like we can say no when someone asks us out to lunch or dinner. And sometimes I feel guilty if I turn down somebody’s offer because they’re trying so hard to be nice! Conclusion We hope these tips will help you save money when buying a new gadget. If you follow them, we’re sure that you’ll be able to get a great deal on whatever it is you want. And remember: shopping smart can save you hundreds of dollars!

Bitcoin Could Fall To $6K As Crypto Winter Intensifies But Expect Recovery Next Year Florian Grummes Kitco NEWS
Bitcoin Could Fall To $6K As Crypto Winter Intensifies But Expect Recovery Next Year Florian Grummes Kitco NEWS
Bitcoin Could Fall To $6K As Crypto Winter Intensifies, But Expect Recovery Next Year – Florian Grummes – Kitco NEWS https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/bitcoin-could-fall-to-6k-as-crypto-winter-intensifies-but-expect-recovery-next-year-florian-grummes-kitco-news/ (Kitco News) – As the Crypto Winter intensifies, Bitcoin could break below its $18,000 support level, which will send the Bitcoin price tumbling to as low as $6,000, said Florian Grummes, Managing Director at Midas Touch Consulting. “At some point I expect that this $18K support level will break, and then we could actually lose quickly another 30, 40, or 50 percent,” he said. “It would be the worst case that we go down to $6K.” Over the year, Bitcoin‘s price has fallen by 60 percent, and Ethereum has dropped by 65 percent. Grummes said that recovery will occur in 2023, and that 2024 could be “the start of a new bull market” as Bitcoin Halving occurs. Grummes spoke with Michelle Makori, Editor-in-Chief and Lead Anchor at Kitco News, at the Future Blockchain Summit in Dubai. Crypto Winter Outlook The bear market in cryptocurrencies caused a string of company failures, such as DeFi firm Celsius, crypto fund 3AC, and blockchain company Terraform Labs. Terraform Labs, for instance, experienced a collapse in its stablecoin TerraUSD (UST) and its native token Luna, which wiped out $45 billion in market capitalization within a week. These failures are needed to cleanse the crypto market of inefficient or fraudulent companies. “There has been so much scam, and so many bad projects in this sector, and we have to get rid of them,” he told Makori. “It’s very painful, I understand, especially for those who are hodling… but it needs time to weed out all these bad actors.” However, Grummes said that based the timespan of previous bear markets, a recovery is expected in 2023. “Usually crypto winters last 20 to 27 months… so expect another half-a-year at least, or maybe a year, and then the Bitcoin halving in 2024 will bring some light, and maybe the start of a new bull market,” he explained. The Bitcoin Halving will cut in half the supply of new Bitcoins, as well as the reward for mining them. This is expected to make Bitcoin more valuable, and could have positive contagion effects that benefit altcoins. ‘Digital Slavery’ Grummes pointed out that despite the Crypto Winter, nations are developing their own official digital currencies, which would be controlled and issued by central banks. The Federal Reserve, for instance, intends to release its own digital token, FedCoin. Critics of these “central bank digital currencies’ (CBDCs) claim that CBDCs would invade privacy and be used to financially punish political dissidents, since the government would be able to fully track, trace, and control these digital tokens. According to the Atlantic Council, 105 countries are developing CBDCs. “If [CBDCs] happen, we are all going to be digital slaves,” said Grummes. “They are trying to position CBDCs as some form of cryptocurrency, but at the end of the day it’s the same form of money that we have already, [except] it’s controllable money, similar to what they have in China with the Social Credit System.” Grummes highlighted the risks of CBDCs to well-functioning democracies. “If some unelected central bankers can create money out of thin air, and then track how you spend your money, where you spend it… and also dictate what kind of interest rates you earn and dictate what you can do with it, I think it’s not a very nice outlook for all of us.” To find out Grummes’s outlook for gold and Bitcoin, watch the video above To find out how Di Iorio intends to help further decentralize Bitcoin and Ethereum, watch the video above. U.S. Accounting Rulemakers Agree That Crypto Assets Should Be Measured At Fair Value Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting
U.S. Accounting Rulemakers Agree That Crypto Assets Should Be Measured At Fair Value – Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/u-s-accounting-rulemakers-agree-that-crypto-assets-should-be-measured-at-fair-value-thomson-reuters-tax-accounting/ Cryptocurrencies – tokens like Bitcoin and Ethereum – should be measured at fair market value as that reflects the underlying economics of those transactions, the FASB ruled on Oct. 12, 2022, a win for investors who pushed for that outcome. “We’ve heard from investors that they want transparency through disclosure and the only way to get to that is through fair value,” FASB member Gary Buesser said. “I’m looking at a chart for Bitcoin over the last year-and-three quarters – it’s ranged from twenty thousand to sixty thousand back to nineteen thousand ninety-six, so the only way to get any kind of real information on the holding of Bitcoin or Ethereum is through fair value.” The guidance would be limited to fungible tokens, deemed to be intangible assets, secured through cryptography on a blockchain or distributed ledger, and do not provide the asset holder “with enforceable rights to or claims on underlying goods, services, or other assets.” The ruling means those assets would be measured in accordance with Topic 820, Fair Value Measurement, and increases and decreases in fair value recognized in comprehensive income in each reporting period. In general, the board said this approach would best align the measurement of crypto assets with that of other assets held for investment purposes such as financial instruments that are recorded at fair value. Fair value measurement would also align with those entities that follow specialized industry guidance or regulatory guidance that require fair value. “It better reflects the economics of what’s going on today with crypto assets,” FASB member Fred Cannon said. “It addresses the issue that we’ve been asked to address in terms of where the economics and the current accounting are misaligned and it also aligns the accounting for crypto assets that are deemed to be intangibles with how crypto assets are valued elsewhere in the codification.” Today, entities that hold crypto assets and do not follow specialized industry guidance in U.S. GAAP or certain regulatory guidance measure those assets at historical cost less impairment. In practise, crypto assets are impaired to the lowest observable fair value within a reporting period. Those impairment losses are presented in comprehensive income and cannot be reversed if there are subsequent increases in value. The board heard that generally that measurement model does not provide useful information to financial statement users because the underlying economics of these assets is not appropriately reflected in financial statements. Also, accountants have said it is costly to identify the lowest observable price during a reporting period for the purpose of testing for an impairment. Votes 4 to 3 to Expense Costs to Acquire Cryptos The board also ruled on whether costs to acquire crypto assets, such as commissions and other transaction fees, should be capitalized or expensed as incurred, voting 4 to 3 to require them to be expensed. Chair Richard Jones, Vice Chair James Kroeker and Board members Susan Cosper and Marsha Hunt favored expensing the costs, agreeing with staff that this would provide simplicity and greater visibility into the holding of gains and losses due to price changes and would also eliminate the potential for diversity in practise. “We probably should be explicit here in order to eliminate some of the diversity in practise and for that I’m in agreement with the staff that expensing is the better route,” FASB member Susan Cosper said. “But I agree that we probably need to be clear as to what that expenses is.” FASB members Christine Botosan, Buesser, and Cannon voted for costs incurred to be capitalized, stressing that would better reflect the gains and losses during the holding period than expensing. On two other issues – whether to allow a measurement option for inactive markets, and whether to provide additional implementation guidance: the full board decided against an option; and against requiring additional implementation guidance. Moreover, the rules decided upon thus far would be applicable to both public and private companies, the board agreed. Next Steps The decisions are a key step for the FASB toward the development of a proposal that will be issued for public comment. The guidance is being spurred by the huge growth of the crypto market which bounced to nearly $1.7 trillion in late February 2022 from $338 billion in late October 2020. Next, board deliberations will continue at a future meeting to determine how crypto assets should be presented and which disclosures should be required, according to the discussions. Other issues, including how to transition the rules will also be addressed. This article originally appeared in the October 13, 2022 edition of Accounting & Compliance Alert, available on Checkpoint. Breece Hall went for 116 yards and a score on the ground, Sauce Gardner had a hilarious postgame celebration and Green Bay earned an “F” in NFL expert John Breech’s grades. Speaking of New-York-but-not-really-New-York, the Giants are 5-1 for the first time since 2009 after a 24-20 comeback win over the Ravens. Trailing by 10 late, the Giants got touchdowns from Daniel Bellinger and Saquon Barkley sandwiched around a Julian Love interception in the final 6:01 of the game. Tampa Bay’s struggles continue. The Buccaneers fell to the Steelers, 20-18, and Tom Brady cursed out his offensive linemen. Mitch Trubisky made several big plays for Pittsburgh after Kenny Pickett left the game with a concussion. Bailey Zappe threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns, Rhamondre Stevenson ran for two more scores and the Patriots dominated the Browns, 38-15, to get back to .500 this season Joe Burrow accounted for four touchdowns — including two on passes to Ja’Marr Chase — and the Bengals rallied past the Saints, 30-26. Good morning to everyone but especially to… THE BUFFALO BILLS… Last season, the Buffalo Bills couldn’t stop the Kansas City Chiefs when they needed to most. But they’re tired of hearing about last season. This is a new season, and they proved it Sunday. Josh Allen threw an absolutely perfect game-winning touchdown to Dawson Knox with just over one minute remaining, and Taron Johnson intercepted Patrick Mahomes on the ensuing drive as Buffalo pulled out a thrilling 24-20 win. Allen finished with 329 passing yards and three touchdowns — one each to Knox, Gabriel Davis and Stefon Diggs. Mahomes had moments of brilliance and finished with 338 passing yards and two scores, but he also threw two interceptions Von Miller — acquired to help win games like these — did just that with two sacks, including a crucial one on 3rd down that gave the Bills the ball back for their game-winning drive. Week 6 is far from the be-all and end-all. Last year, the Bills went to Kansas City in Week 5 and won 38-20, and we know what happened in the playoffs. But it’s hard to get a more impressive regular-season win than this, and the Bills will certainly cherish it as they head into their bye week. … AND ALSO A GOOD MORNING TO THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES Great football teams aren’t great because of how they look when things are going well. It’s about how they respond when things are going poorly. Sunday night, the Eagles saw their 20-0 lead shrink to 20-17 early in the fourth quarter, only to respond with a statement drive: 13 plays — the first 11 of which were rushes — for 75 yards, taking over seven minutes and resulting in a Jalen Hurts touchdown pass to DeVonta Smith. The Cowboys never threatened again, and Philadelphia moved to 6-0 with a 26-17 win. Both of the Eagles’ star wide receivers — Smith and A.J. Brown — caught touchdowns while Miles Sanders ran for one. Cooper Rush, who entered this year with zero interceptions, threw three, including two to Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. The Eagles are 6-0 for just the third time in franchise history (2004, 1981). They also head into their bye week. Honorable mentions Brandon Clarke got a four-year, $52-million extension from the Grizzlies. Keegan Bradley won the Zozo Championship. Brooks Koepka won LIV Golf in Jeddah. Not so honorable mention After arguing with several coaches, Robbie Anderson got ejected by his own team as the Panthers lost to the Rams. Yankees force Game 5; Down go the Dodgers and Braves Getty Images Two teams, two seasons on the line, one very big night in the Bronx. The Yankees topped the Guardians, 4-2, setting up a decisive Game 5 tonight. The Yankees led 3-0 through two innings thanks to an early RBI single by Anthony Rizzo and a two-run home run by Harrison Bader. Gerrit Cole pitched seven strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits with eight strikeouts. One of those runs came via a home run from Josh Naylor, who was not afraid to celebrate as he rounded the bases. Unlike Saturday night, the Yankees’ bullpen was fine. Clay Holmes pitched a scoreless eighth and Wandy Peralta closed things out with a perfect ninth. Cleveland is 1-7 all-time in winner-take-all games; New York is 15-15. Aaron Civale will start for Cleveland while Jameson Taillon will get the ball for New York, though it will likely be an all-hands-on-deck approach. Here’s our preview. The winner will get the Astros, who finished off a sweep of the Mariners with an 18-inning, 1-0 win Saturday. Yes, you read that right: 18 innings, 1-0. Jeremy Peña provided the only run on a solo homer. The NL Championship Series, meanwhile, is already set. The Phillies hammered their way past the Braves with an 8-3 Game 4 win Saturday shortly before the Padres advanced past the Dodgers with a 5-3 Game 4 win. It sets up a fascinating NLCS, which starts tomorrow night, so we’ll have more in tomorrow’s newsletter! One thing’s for sure, though: San Diego’s and Philadelphia’s stars have shined. As for the surprising series losers… The Dodgers have lots of questions to answer. One answer has already arrived: Manager Dave Roberts will be back. They’re just the latest regular-season powerhouse to come up way short. The Braves also have plenty of questions to answer. Tennessee moves to No. 3 after wild win over Alabama USATSI There’s something special brewing in Knoxville, and there’s plenty of history being rewritten to prove it. Tennessee topped Alabama 52-49 in an instant classic on Saturday night.  Volunteers kicker Chase McGrath knocked through a wobbly 40-yard field goal as time expired, just three plays after Alabama’s Will Reichard missed a potential go-ahead 50-yard field goal. Moments after the kick was made, there was a field storming for the ages. Hendon Hooker threw for 385 yards and five touchdowns and ran for another 56 yards. Jalin Wyatt had six catches for 207 yards and a school-record five touchdowns and celebrated with Peyton Manning. The 52 points are the most allowed by Alabama since Sewanee scored 54 in 1907(!!!) Not to be outdone (at least not by much), Bryce Young had 465 passing yards and two scores. Jahmyr Gibbs had 151 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns. The Volunteers snapped a 15-game losing streak to the Crimson Tide; it was their first win over a Nick Saban-coached Alabama squad. The win moves Tennessee into the College Football Playoff in Jerry Palm’s latest bowl projections. While Young was magnificent and showed the poise and accuracy that earned him the Heisman Trophy last year, Hooker has taken the lead in the race for that award this year, writes college football reporter Shehan Jeyarajah. More importantly, though, Tennessee is officially back, writes college football insider Dennis Dodd. Dodd: “Tennessee still has to go to Georgia on Nov. 5. Alabama certainly isn’t out of it with a chance to run the table, win the SEC West and play for the SEC title. If you game this thing out, Saturday’s result left open the possibility of all three SEC teams getting into the CFP. But that’s looking way too far ahead and ignoring the magnificent presence of Saturday night on Rocky Top. What was left in a last-second, three-point win was a wondrous realization: After 15 long years, the smoke had finally cleared.“ The Volunteers are also back… in the top five of the AP Poll for the first time since 2005. Here’s the entire top 10 of the latest poll: 1. Georgia (prev: 1) 2. Ohio State (prev: 2) 3. Tennessee (prev: 6) 4. Michigan (prev: 5) 5. Clemson (prev: 4) 6. Alabama (prev: 3) 7. Ole Miss (prev: 9) 8. TCU (prev: 13) 9. UCLA (prev: 11) 10. Oregon (prev: 12) Here are more top storylines from a wild CFB weekend: Utah rallied past previously unbeaten USC. TCU took control of the Big 12 West by beating Oklahoma State in overtime. Ole Miss outlasted Auburn to stay undefeated. Grades Coaches Poll Deontay Wilder returns with first-round KO of Robert Helenius Getty Images Fighting for the first time since losing to Tyson Fury over a year ago, Deontay Wilder made his return heard loud and clear with a first-round knockout of Robert Helenius. It was the 21st knockout of Wilder’s career, and, even at 36, his hammer of a right hand remains as dangerous as ever, writes boxing expert Brent Brookhouse. Brookhouse: “Wilder called for possible matchups with either unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk or former unified champ Andy Ruiz Jr. to be next. … Wilder is still arguably the most dangerous puncher the heavyweight division has ever seen and could make a meeting with either opponent intriguing, even if just for the possibility of that one punch landing clean.” What we’re watching Monday Guardians at Yankees, 7:07 p.m. on TBS Broncos at Chargers, 8:15 p.m. on ESPN

Monday’s Best: 5 Area Iowa High School Volleyball Regional Matches To Watch – The Gazette https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/mondays-best-5-area-iowa-high-school-volleyball-regional-matches-to-watch-the-gazette/ Benton Community’s Piper Nelson attacks last year against Clear Creek Amana. The Bobcats play at West Marshall in a Class 3A regional quarterfinal Monday. (Savannah Blake/The Gazette) Monday marks the beginning of the Iowa high school volleyball postseason, with quarterfinals in Class 3A and first-round matches in Class 2A and Class 1A. Here are five of the area’s best matchups; all matches Monday begin at 7 p.m. Waukon (14-17) at Monticello (22-10) Class 3A Region 5 No. 14 Monticello earned the River Valley Conference North Division regular-season title, then followed up with a second-place finish to traditional power Dyersville Beckman in the RVC North tournament Thursday. Jayden Kuper is the point of emphasis in the Panthers’ attack. The sophomore is third among 3A kill leaders at 4.75 per set, which account for nearly half of the team’s total. Senior setter Mia Jaeger is good for 8.22 assists per set. Senior Berlin Troendle paces Waukon at 3.30 kills per set, with a fine kill efficiency of .315. Anamosa (15-20) at Vinton-Shellsburg (26-13) Class 3A Region 6 Since finishing 6-29 in 2017, No. 15 Vinton-Shellsburg has been on a steady incline, and this is the Vikettes’ best season since they went 22-8 in 2008. They won 11 of 13 matches before going 0-2 in the Wamac Conference tournament on Thursday. The Vikettes’ kills are distrirbuted evenly among junior Ashlyn Murray and seniors Brylee Bruce, Ashlie Meyer and Alyssa Griffith, with Bruce and Murray sharing setting duties. Anamosa got off to an 11-4 start, but is just 4-16 since. Still, there’s reason to believe that the Raiders are on the way up with an extremely young roster. The top three attackers (Reise Neuhaus, Carlee Webber and Lola Holub) are sophomores, and top setter Sophie Sander is a freshman. Benton Community (19-23) at West Marshall (18-15) Class 3A Region 6 A regional finalist in 4A last year, Benton will try to make a another lengthy run this fall behind a pair of strong hitting threats in junior Piper Nelson (4.13 kills per set) and senior Addison Phillips (2.65). The Bobcats had a strong showing at the Wamac tournament, winning two of three matches. West Marshall earned a three-set win over the Bobcats at the East Marshall tournament (16-21, 21-15, 15-10) Sept. 10, and the rematch has the capability of going long, too. The Trojans tied for second in the Heart of Iowa Conference behind junior hitter Halie Hohnstein (2.41 kills per set, .285 efficiency). Edgewood-Colesburg (14-19) at Turkey Valley (17-15) Class 1A Region 6 Turkey Valley shared the Upper Iowa Conference championship with Clayton Ridge, and those are the only two teams in the UIC to enter the postseason on the plus side of .500. The Trojans got to that point with a late-season rush; they have won seven straight matches. Adriana Tiedt leads the offense at 2.21 kills per set, and the top setter is freshman Maici Weber (3.68 assists per set). Tri-Rivers Conference West Division co-runner-up Ed-Co traditionally plays a challenging out-of-league slate, and that might benefit the Vikings on Monday. Junior hitters Marin Gaul and Audrie Helmrichs pace the Vikings, who reached the Tri-Rivers Conference tournament semifinals Saturday. Maquoketa Valley (9-18) at North Linn (19-10) Class 1A Region 6 These Tri-Rivers West rivals met Sept. 29, with North Linn winning in a convincing sweep (25-20, 25-13, 25-16). The Lynx program has been ascendant the last two years under Coach Jennifer McNeill. Senior libero Evalyn Robinson ranks eighth in digs in Class 1A, at 5.36 per set. Another senior, Caitlin Benesh spearheads the offense at 2.33 kills per set. North Linn advanced to the bracket play at the Tri-Rivers tournament Saturday, finishing 0-2. Maquoketa Valley did not make the championship bracket, despite winning two of three matches in pool play Thursday. The Wildcats could be a team to watch in the future; freshmen Grace Richter and Lanni Beaman rank 2-3 on the team (behind junior Haley Ronnebaum) in kills. 7 Tips To Help Enhance The Well-Being Of Travelers On Cruises Travel Market Report
7 Tips To Help Enhance The Well-Being Of Travelers On Cruises Travel Market Report
7 Tips To Help Enhance The Well-Being Of Travelers On Cruises – Travel Market Report https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/7-tips-to-help-enhance-the-well-being-of-travelers-on-cruises-travel-market-report/ Now that the world is in a post-pandemic era, people everywhere have had the chance to take a few deep breaths. And while doing so, many have made a renewed commitment to their physical and mental well-being – a trend that is also evident in the travel industry. The wellness travel niche is a market segment that Denise L. Wiggins understands and successfully sells. She is the global executive advisor and CEO at Denise Wiggins Travel & Health Services, and happens to be a health and wellness coach. Wiggins has this to say about the current state of wellness travel in the cruise sector, in particular: “Based on my recent cruises and even my upcoming ones, I’m so pleased to see the cruise lines putting wellness front and center. The emphasis on the well-being of their guests is refreshing. They have dedicated time, resources, and finances toward re-outfitting and curating their cruises to represent within this space.”While cruise brands are focusing on expanding their wellness strategies and offerings, travel advisors can use these seven tips to help their clients enhance their well-being while on a cruise vacation, both onboard and in destination. 1. Listen carefully to understand what ‘wellness’ means for each client. Wiggins’ first piece of advice is to “truly understand what wellness encompasses and know it is a state of mind for those in the health and wellness space … that it is more than spa and exercise rooms onboard. Listen carefully to what your wellness clients seek. And definitely know which products are hitting the mark to meet a client’s needs and expectations.” Tisha Spencer, an InteleTravel advisor and owner of Platinum Life Travels, seconds this. She notes that the most important thing for travel advisors to keep in mind when recommending wellness-related travel to clients is “understanding that everyone will categorize wellness differently. It will not all be spa, meditation, and physical fitness. We have to spend some time getting to know what our clients desire when they want a wellness cruise.” Spencer’s agency, for instance, is currently working on a cruise focused on women’s wellness that includes self-esteem, make-up classes, and more. Along the same lines, Darryl Jenkins, owner of Boxley Enterprise Travel, an InteleTravel affiliate, suggests: “I would say [the most important thing is] finding out what things the client is already doing as part of a regular routine so that you can find the best travel offering to match them up with. You want to make sure that they can maintain their existing plan and not feel guilty about taking a trip that doesn’t allow them to stay on that plan they are committed to.” 2. Know that mental wellness is as important as physical wellness. “I am seeing more clients looking to ‘escape’ from the world with friends and loved ones due to stress,” says Spencer. “Mental wellness has become important, as most of my clients are fatigued from dealing with life, the economy, and more. They want to disconnect and have someone cater to their needs.” And this is how she addresses it with clients: “I often suggest that clients think about what type of wellness they need and enjoy. Not all clients see ‘wellness’ as the spa and physical fitness. It has become mental, too. Now the spas on cruises do offer some amazing relaxation opportunities, but for some, it is about disconnecting from the world and being in the moment. I suggest that we look through the activities on the ships, the spa offerings, the sporting activities available, and even the dining options we can recommend for them to enjoy. I encourage clients to enjoy the views from the balcony and to be in the moment to clear their mind.” 3. Suggest balcony staterooms for the fresh air and quiet. “I often find many clients enjoy booking balcony staterooms so they can enjoy the quiet time reading and breathing in the fresh air from the ocean,” says Jenkins. “This, too, is a really great way to relieve stress as you are sailing away and possibly reading a book. Wellness does not always have to be about the physical, as you sometimes need to mentally decompress and get the mind right to align with the body.” 4. Describe the expanded fitness and spa services available onboard. “Many of the cruise lines offer similar wellness services to hotels/resorts,” says Jenkins. “They have a number of things to offer, like fitness and yoga classes for all age groups, meditation stations, spa services with amenities like hot stone massages, detox wraps, sauna services, and much more. Some offer spa suite staterooms that have decor and aromatic fragrances that relax the guest while onboard.” 5. Emphasize the fresh, healthy eating options, taken in moderation. For years, cruises were all about the big buffets and endless culinary offerings, and many guests simply overate while onboard. But that is an outdated approach to cruising. Travelers today need not feel pressured to eat copious quantities at every meal. “People used to complain that they ate too much, and had to lose weight when they returned. But I really don’t hear that anymore. It’s actually quite the opposite, as they now tell me about the great fresh food as well as all the ‘steps’ they did,” says Neelie Kruse, CTC, VTA, owner and travel designer, at Cary Travel Express. When selling cruises, Kruse emphasizes the fresh, healthy food options. Similarly, Jenkins mentions that cruisers “can also treat their wellness through food options onboard as well as at the fitness centers and spa services. Some cruise lines now offer smoothies or smoothie stations … There are even healthy food options, vegan, and gluten-free options.” 6. Tell clients not to try to do it all when it comes to excursions. Travel advisors can also provide guidance to help clients maximize their well-being in destination. As Spencer explains: “I help clients find just enough activities that they can enjoy, without overwhelming them. It is important to look at the excursions early, to secure the top ones, but also to be aware of the fact that if they are in a destination they have been to before, it is a prime time to enjoy the spa and pool areas, as most of the ship will be empty. The biggest thing is to not try to do it all. We can book the sailing or ship again.” 7. Position wellness on cruises as satisfying rather than a sacrifice. Kruse suggests: “You really have to sell it properly, as some people don’t want to feel they are going to a ‘wellness spa’-type of place where everything is all about no drinking, little and bland food, etc. Explain that they can take their dream trip, but still do it in a healthy way without missing anything … and come back feeling refreshed and renewed, instead of stuffed and tired!” FROM THE SPONSOR: Explora Journeys is set apart through five central elements: space, choice, design, destination experiences – and an unwavering commitment to the travel advisor community. Ace Aquatec Gets On Board With Greek Distributor Stamatiou Scottish Business News
Ace Aquatec Gets On Board With Greek Distributor Stamatiou Scottish Business News
Ace Aquatec Gets On Board With Greek Distributor Stamatiou – Scottish Business News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/ace-aquatec-gets-on-board-with-greek-distributor-stamatiou-scottish-business-news/ DUNDEE-headquartered Aquaculture technology specialists Ace Aquatec have appointed Stamatiou Aquaculture as their distributor of their award-winning in-water electric stunners in Greece.  As the EU’s largest producers for farmed sea bass and gilthead sea bream, exported to over 42 countries, this partnership will accelerate Greece’s adoption of newer, higher welfare technology at the point of harvest.  Ace Aquatec’s in-water electrical stunner has a 100% stun rate and an impressive record of reducing stress at harvest, making it well-equipped to meet increasing consumer demand in the region for improved husbandry and higher levels of animal welfare. With over 30 years’ experience in the aquaculture industry and an established client network, Stamatiou Aquaculture is well-placed to share expertise with fish farmers interested in improving welfare standards and quality control at harvest. Ace Aquatec’s Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Tara McGregor-Woodhams, said: “Demand has increased three-fold for our in-water stunners this year as supermarkets, consumers and regulators demand clearer efficacy around the slaughter of seabass and bream. Establishing a partnership with Stamatiou, who build state-of-the-art vessels for over 70% of the industry in the Mediterranean, means we can work together to equip these amazing boats at the outset with the best technology to improve welfare without compromising efficiency.” Stamatiou Aquaculture’s CEO Mr. Kyriakos Stamatiou added: “Sea bass and sea bream are known for being particularly sensitive to suboptimal farming and harvesting conditions. We have always championed technology that will allow seafood to be harvested more humanely, so it’s great to be working with Ace Aquatec to incorporate their innovative solution in our designs. This partnership heralds a significant advancement in harvesting standards in the region.” Earlier this month, Ace Aquatec appointed Pisces as their key distributor in North, Central and South America. The newly formed partnership supplies the in-water electrical stunner to its customers across the Americas, where fish welfare and ethical practices have moved to the top of the agenda for many producers, supermarkets and consumers.

Biogen Announces FDA’s 3-Month Extension Of Review Period – GlobeNewswire https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/biogen-announces-fdas-3-month-extension-of-review-period-globenewswire/ October 17, 2022 07:30 ET | Source: Biogen Inc. The new Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) action date set by the FDA is April 25, 2023 CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 17, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Biogen Inc. (Nasdaq: BIIB) today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has extended the review period of the new drug application (NDA) for tofersen by three months. Tofersen is an investigational treatment for superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The updated Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) goal date is April 25, 2023. As part of the ongoing review, Biogen submitted responses to information requests by the FDA which the FDA considered a Major Amendment to the application that will require additional time for review. “We are committed to providing any details the agency needs to complete the review of tofersen,” said Priya Singhal, M.D., M.P.H., Head of Global Safety and Regulatory Sciences and Interim Head of R&D at Biogen. “As the review continues, Biogen will maintain the early access program for tofersen.” The FDA accepted the tofersen NDA in July 2022 under the accelerated pathway and granted priority review. About Tofersen Tofersen is an antisense drug being evaluated for the potential treatment of SOD1-ALS. Tofersen binds to SOD1 mRNA, allowing for its degradation by RNase-H in an effort to reduce synthesis of SOD1 protein production. In addition to the ongoing open label extension of VALOR, tofersen is being studied in the Phase 3 ATLAS study designed to evaluate whether tofersen can delay clinical onset when initiated in presymptomatic individuals with a SOD1 genetic mutation and biomarker evidence of disease activity. Biogen licensed tofersen from Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. under a collaborative development and license agreement. About Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and SOD1-ALS Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a rare, progressive and fatal neurodegenerative disease that results in the loss of motor neurons in the brain and the spinal cord that are responsible for controlling voluntary muscle movement. People with ALS experience muscle weakness and atrophy, causing them to lose independence as they steadily lose the ability to move, speak, eat, and eventually breathe. Average life expectancy for people with ALS is three to five years from time of symptom onset.1 Multiple genes have been implicated in ALS. Genetic testing helps determine if a person’s ALS is associated with a genetic mutation, even in individuals without a family history of the disease. Currently, there are no genetically targeted treatment options for ALS. Mutations in the SOD1 gene are responsible for approximately 2 percent of the estimated 168,000 people who have ALS globally (SOD1-ALS).2 Life expectancy in SOD1-ALS varies widely with some patients surviving less than a year.3 Biogen’s Continuous Commitment to ALS For over a decade, Biogen has been committed to advancing ALS research to provide a deeper understanding of all forms of the disease. The company has continued to invest in and pioneer research despite making the difficult decision to discontinue a late-stage ALS asset in 2013. Biogen has applied important learnings to its portfolio of assets for genetic and other forms of ALS, with the goal of increasing the probability of bringing a potential therapy to patients in need. These applied learnings include evaluating genetically validated targets in defined patient populations, pursuing the most appropriate modality for each target and employing sensitive clinical endpoints. Today, the company has a pipeline of investigational drugs being evaluated in ALS, including tofersen and BIIB105. The Battle-Royale game leverages Detterence’s AI Layer and RCT AI NFTs offer AI-based yield farming to investors. The two technologies are also combined to offer AI conversation models, AI intent recognition and AI motion generation to create cognitively aware virtual beings. A non-fungible token (NFT) — in the context of gaming— is a digital representation of an avatar, in-game asset (e.g apparel), music track or a collectible stored in the blockchain. According to Delysium, the game’s AI-based MetaBeings “can sense state changes in digital environments, so that player interactions are not limited to fixed and repetitive dialogues and choices.” This enables them to play independent roles, creating dynamic game modes for players. The multiverse game is managed by Delysium Metaverse Operators (DMOs). DMOs use player data to issue their own NFTs based on the game’s own IP, creating a tokenomics ecosystem featuring fungible in-game tokens, NFTs, as well as, Layer and Layer 2 stablecoins, among others. The company has already onboarded its first DMO after partnering with one of the world’s leading web3 gaming guilds, Unix Gaming. Gaming guilds are investment organisations that acquire in-game assets for rent. Gaming guilds accelerate the community-building phase of web3 games by making in-game assets more affordable to new gamers. Unix Gaming boasts a community of over 200,000 gamers. Crypto Traders Hit By Chat App Outage: Upbit Investors Fume As They Are Frozen Out – Cryptonews https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/crypto-traders-hit-by-chat-app-outage-upbit-investors-fume-as-they-are-frozen-out-cryptonews/ Source: yurolaitsalbert/Adobe Thousands of South Korea crypto traders say they have been left out of pocket due to a near-blackout of services operated by the chat app giant Kakao – which operates login functions for users of Upbit, the nation’s biggest crypto exchange. Kakao was hit with massive outages on Saturday afternoon (KST), following the outbreak of a fire at Kakao’s server center – which is operated by SK C&C. The fire blazed for some hours in the center, in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. Partial functionality was restored some 10 hours after the blaze was first reported, but at the time of writing, a number of the app’s functions are still not operational. The blaze appears to have hit at least half of the 32,000 servers stored in the building, with the firm’s Vice President Yang Hyun-seo quoted as stating that the company had experienced a “simultaneous shutdown” of its servers in an even that “rarely occurs in the IT industry.” Upbit trading volumes. (Source: CoinGecko) For crypto traders, the fallout was felt immediately. Upbit uses a Kakao-powered KakaoTalk login system and its customer service staff communicate with customers via Kakao. On social media, news outlets shared images of firefighters tackling the blaze. While iPhone and Apple PC owners can use their Apple IDs to login to Upbit, Android users can only use KakaoTalk to login to their wallets, Yonhap reported. Upbit is unique in using Kakao logins – other South Korean exchanges use their own login solutions. And Upbit stated, per Yonhap, that it had been planning to roll out its own independent login solution to run parallel to its Apple and Kakao login system “from October 31.” The media outlet quoted unnamed Upbit customers as claiming they had been unable to make key trades, and had suffered losses or missed out on gains as a result. Some called for the exchange to compensate its customers, but Upbit explained that “nothing has yet been decided” on this front. Hankook Ilbo quoted a 30-year-old trader surnamed Yoon as claiming that they could not execute 18 trading orders as a result of the outage – and lost some $557 as a result. What Is Chat App Kakao’s Upbit Connection? Some 44 million South Koreans use KakaoTalk, as well as a range of other Kakao services, and the firm operates banking, taxi, and e-payment arms. The Upbit-Kakao link goes yet deeper than this, however: Kakao was one of the earliest investors in Upbit, and still retains a reported stake of almost 11% of the crypto company’s shares. A number of Upbit’s founding executives are former Kakao employees. In the past, South Korean outlets have claimed that Kakao’s ownership of Upbit could be as high as 23%. Kakao’s banking arm has recently struck a banking deal with Coinone, one of Upbit’s biggest rivals. A number of other firms – including SK Rental Car, the supermarket chain Home Plus, the e-commerce Market Kurly, the beauty retailer Olive Young, and Starbucks Korea – were forced to shut down some of their services that also make use of Kakao features for billing, Korea Joongang Daily reported.

Analysis | Making OPEC+ Subject To US Antitrust Law Will Backfire – The Washington Post https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/analysis-making-opec-subject-to-us-antitrust-law-will-backfire-the-washington-post/ The last thing the global bond market needs on top of aggressive interest rate hikes is more trouble. Yet, there’s more coming, and from an unlikely source: a rapidly deteriorating relationship between the US and Saudi Arabia. Earlier this month, Riyadh defied Washington, leading the OPEC+ cartel, which includes Russia, to cut oil production. The move has put a floor on oil prices, which have stabilized between $90 and $100 a barrel. As a result, inflation is likely to be more persistent than previously expected, probably forcing central banks into further monetary tightening, which would bite bond investors. This enraged the US.  Now American-Saudi relations are at their worst than since the assassination of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in October 2018. Since Riyadh agreed to cut oil output, the kingdom and the White House have engaged in a war of words. The Saudi Foreign Affairs Ministry released a statement saying that Washington wanted OPEC+ to delay the cut by a month — implying that the problem was really the US midterm elections. The White House responded accusing Riyadh of “spinning” excuses.  The key for what comes next is NOPEC. This is the “No Oil Producing and Exporting Cartels” Act, a bill that proposes subjecting OPEC to the Sherman antitrust law that was used more than a century ago to break up the oil empire of John Rockefeller. If enacted, the White House would be able to sue Saudi Arabia and its allies, currently protected by sovereign immunity, for manipulating the global oil market. There’s a real possibility the bill may see the light of day. But despite how much Biden wants to punish Saudi Arabia and OPEC for cutting oil supply, it would be far wiser to avoid escalating the legislation. Otherwise, the risk is that Saudis dump US financial assets, redirect oil sales and openly talk about pricing oil in other currencies.  For the last 25 years, NOPEC has been a staple of Washington — always a threat but never a law. President after president, whether Republican and Democrat, have argued against passing it. But Joe Biden, who once supported a similar bill as Senator, has said he’s ready to work with Congress to curb OPEC influence. If NOPEC was to become law — a big if — OPEC nations may retaliate by dumping some of their financial holdings in America. This means that NOPEC could come at a big price for the US.  As of the end of July, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Iraq altogether held, directly, about $246 billion in US Treasuries, according to government data. The real number is likely to be higher, as Middle East nations also hold bonds via tax havens such as Luxembourg, the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, Switzerland and Ireland. Although their cache is unlikely to be higher than 5%-10% of total foreign holdings of American sovereign debt — and they are likely to be significantly lower than the $970 billion held by China — dumping those assets will rock an already jittery Treasuries market. “There is a real risk that this diplomatic dispute could intensify,” said Helima Croft, an oil analyst at RBC Capital Markets who’s well connected in Washington and Riyadh. “We would not be surprised to see suggestions in the coming days that Gulf countries could liquidate their US financial holdings if NOPEC becomes law.” From what I hear from officials in the Middle East, the suggestions are already coming loud and clear. Are those empty threats? Maybe. After all, OPEC nations would likely suffer losses if they were to offload the assets and have few other options to park their money. But does anyone in Washington really want to test them? NOPEC has long been considered the nuclear option. No one has answered what would happen next if the bill was passed. Would the US government ask for an antitrust investigation into OPEC? Would it actually go as far as suing the Saudis in federal court? And if a lawsuit is filed and the US does win, can it enforce any compensation? Would it be worth the potential retaliation?  The White House needs to think about those questions — and whether it really wants to answer them. Senator Chuck Grassley, a Republican from Iowa, has now attached NOPEC as an amendment to the annual Pentagon spending bill, giving it a serious chance of getting a vote on the floor of the Senate next month. It’s unclear if the amendment has the votes. But the last time the bill came this close to passing was in 2007, when it got approved by the House of Representatives in a 345-72 vote and the Senate by 70-23, only to die after George W. Bush threatened a veto. Biden must finally decide where he stands. In 2000, when oil prices were rising, he co-wrote a letter as senator to then-President Bill Clinton urging the White House to sue OPEC either in US federal court or at the International Court of Justice in the Hague. In 2007, Senator Biden was the co-sponsor of a version of the NOPEC bill, but then he abstained during the vote. For now, the White House hasn’t said whether it supports the legislation. NOPEC goes hand-in-hand with oil prices. If Brent crude stays under $100 a barrel, the bill may die. But if prices rise, just a touch, it has a fighting chance of passing. If that’s the case, it’s likely to create more problems than it would resolve. This column does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the editorial board or Bloomberg LP and its owners. Spotlight: RCT Technology: The Future Of Automation Is Here – Sudbury.com https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/spotlight-rct-technology-the-future-of-automation-is-here-sudbury-com/ Open design philosophy allows Remote Control Technologies (RCT) systems to lead the way in customized automation Technology and automation are increasingly playing a key role in the mining landscape, and compatibility between systems and manufacturers is essential. In mining automation systems, easy integration into workflows and the ability to deliver value to customers’ operations are essential features. This interoperable approach is being met with great success by the team at RCT, a technologically agnostic mining automation specialist with a global reach. “We look at our client’s machines in two separate ways,” comments David Holman, Chief Operations Officer for RCT. “Firstly, we deliver a system that allows for automation of the mobile fleet. We then explore additional integration layers to systems external to these machines. This can include, for example, seamless dataflows into a project’s Fleet Management or Mine Control systems.” The philosophy of open design allows RCT’s systems to be moulded to any manufacturer’s mobile fleets and various mining-focused data software packages. Providing miners an “open-ended” service provider in automation, irrespective of fleet manufacturer or mine systems implemented onsite. RCT is well known for its ControlMaster® automation offer however, its expertise extends beyond this, leveraging flexible data networks across the mine. Traffic Management, Data and Information, Protection Systems and Fleet Management are emerging and equally important solutions that RCT is offering its clients. This gives RCT a competitive advantage amongst its peers via expertise in cross-platform integration, in open pit and underground mining. Delivering a malleable framework for automation that not only allows simple implementation but offers near-endless scale. “The very start of our development process is delivered by broad enablers, these are scoped by our automation specialists and then shared with our Proof-of-Concept (PoC) team. They then look at ways to integrate these latest ideas into our existing offer,” shares Holman. The business was originally founded in Kalgoorlie, the gold mining hub of Western Australia, and now has multiple offices across the globe. With four service branches dotted across Australia, and international offices in Salt Lake City, USA, Sudbury, Canada, Santiago, Chile and a South Africa-based team in Johannesburg. A clear business mantra that is always utilised with clients both old and new, is only engaging in projects that deliver tangible benefits to the customer. “We deliver to our customers across their different operations. Sometimes they will have the requirements to interconnect with multiple different OEM machines and several intermeshed software packages, across their global operations,” highlights Brendon Cullen, Head of Product Management at RCT. “Whilst this can be challenging, one of our core focuses is to enhance production for our customers. This means that all our systems must fundamentally add value to our customer’s mining methodologies before we would even suggest a solution to them.” The ControlMaster® system delivers a fully autonomous, proven package for load-haul-dump cycles, but this is just the beginning of the business’ capabilities. Other mobile plant beyond traditional underground loaders have been able to be semi-automated for improved operational outcomes. An existing example of this would be the utilisation of a semi-autonomous haul truck Guidance System, which dramatically improved the clarity and speed at which haul trucks were able to operate within the underground complex. RCT’s technology relocates machine operators to secure operations stations on the mine’s surface but they also implement the technology in major cities and eliminate the need for operators to travel to a site at all. “We are working with one of our most technologically focused customers and deploying a Remote Operating Centre (ROC) at their Head Office in Perth, WA which is connected to their loader fleet onsite, nearly 740km away,” said Holman. “This offers significant operational efficiencies for our client in terms of how they manage their workforce and empowers operators to switch between different mobile plants at a moment’s notice”. “Autonomous loading is now a given for our customer’s underground operations, we are experts in its delivery. However, we want to build on this knowledge and create new expectations of what automation can look like,” shared Holman. This concept extends well beyond the mobile plant used and has started to focus on the wider project ecosystem. For instance, RCT is working with a major client in Latin America to implement its Traffic Management system which will direct autonomous fleet operations with minimal operator input. “Our ControlMaster® technology will manage actual loader operations but Traffic Management will sit on top of that and determine which loader has right of way in the block cave mine and independently issue commands for the machines to either stop or continue tramming,” explains Holman. RCT has built its reputation on stable, scalable mining automation systems. The networks that these systems use is becoming more widespread and dependable in the mining environment, opening new areas to explore with customers. “The networks used at mining projects now allow for much more data and automation across the board. Fixed infrastructure, fan shoots and more complex traffic management around automated fleets have all become focuses that we are exploring with our clients.” RCT is also working extensively in the surface automation space, with several Vehicle Control projects underway involving both light vehicles and heavy mobile equipment. Their experience in machine control integration positions the company as the global leader in delivering the latest Vehicle Control technologies in automation, collision avoidance and remote control technologies. The company recently worked with a leading supplier of Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS) and deployed Level 9 intervention technology across a mixed fleet of 120 haul trucks for a major mining operation in Australia. The team at RCT is focused on collaborating with their customers to define and execute automation and digital adoption in their mining projects. The ability to blend tailored solutions, as well as conceptualise and deliver unique projects, put RCT in a distinctive place in the mining ecosystem. Allowing for streamlined assessment, delivery, and return on investment for their customer base. Learn more about innovative automation developments from RCT here.

Porting computer games to versatile has shown huge outcomes before, PUBG is one of its most ridiculously glaring instances. Valorant is probably the most played multiplayer FPS now and the portable game would be a moment hit in the event that the designers can downgrade it for such gadgets without containing inter-activity. Revolt declared way back that they will be dropping Valorant for versatile anyway whether they will twofold down on an esports scene for the equivalent is yet to be figured. The declaration sent shockwaves in the portable gaming local area as fans are anxious to figure out how the designers will cut down such muddled mechanics to a perfect screen. Florida Off The Beaten Track – TravelMole https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/florida-off-the-beaten-track-travelmole/ by Graham McKenzie Florida, especially if you are willing to explore off the beaten track, is definitely the vacation gift that keeps on giving. A few furlongs from Orlando ls Ocala/Marion County, which is home to some world leading attractions. Natural geological phenomena, crystal clear waters and, apologies to Kentucky, the epicentre of America’s equine sport. First up for me was the World Equestrian Centre which has its own private airfield, rooms with comfortable sleeping arrangements, individual showers, hot drinks and food on demand. And this is just and exclusively for our equine friends. Horseplay here in Ocala is a different class of stable and the occupants are treated, quite rightly, as very important visitors. Humans are however not left without a comfort blanket of luxury for in the hotel next door the opulence and attention to detail is of the highest order. Many of the rooms have views over the modern showground where the pampered horse guests compete. Food wise, we enjoyed a splendid five course meal from the aptly named Stirrups restaurant whilst seated on the concourse of the arena. No competitions were in progress at the time. Not being one to look a gift horse in the mouth the next morning I took the opportunity to go riding – for the first time ever! I wasn’t about to embark on a three-day event but at the nearby Canyons Zip Line and Adventure Park my trusty steed ‘Bear’ was about to take me trekking across the miniature scarp and vale topography. I liked to think that my newly acquired horsemanship skills guided me up and down the hillocks, but I suspect ‘Bear’ could have done it with his eyes closed.  I arrived back at the ranch unharmed, self-satisfied and delighted. Others in the group went the aerial route with some eye watering zip lines across deep lakes. Great fun! Well, you can take a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. To not drink in the beauty of the aqua based attractions in Ocala/Marion County you would have to be an ass. These are more examples of the fantastic natural assets produced by the giant Floridian Aquifer system. Every so often you will come across crystal clear waters at a very comfy temperature which not only attract human recreation but also all manner of wildlife including birds, manatees, fish and otters. Rainbow River allowed me to complete another first by kayaking down and then back up the river over a three-hour period. All the help, safety, kit and support are at hand in what is an easily accessible public facility. Also open to the public is a unique look at the beauty and underwater scenery of Silver Springs State Park. Glass bottom boat rides, which have been in operation for many decades allow a fabulous look at how hot water springs have created and eroded the geology to create a wonderland that is truly remarkable. Such is the splendour of the park that visitors from long ago have been coming to enjoy the waters with artefacts’ on display from Native Americans to a rowboat brought by Spanish settlers plus abandoned props from old Hollywood productions. With all of this comes many choices of bars, restaurants and live music. Ocala has an historic downtown area centred around the colourfully lit town square which could easily take you back to the late 1950’s. The streets surrounding the square offer a variety of independent shops as well as food and drink, most of which are supplied from local sources. You would be stretched to find a better example of small-town America than Ocala. Just forty minutes from Orlando, it’s worth the trip. How To Win In India? AltG’s Wharton-INSEAD Wall Street Alumni Have 10,000,000,000,000 Answers – Fortune India https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/how-to-win-in-india-altgs-wharton-insead-wall-street-alumni-have-10000000000000-answers-fortune-india/ Taponeel Mukherjee and Poornima Vardhan have delivered outsized returns that have outperformed benchmarks by capitalising on the biggest opportunity of the 21st Century: India’s Consumer Market! Earlier this year, a familiar name flashed on Taponeel Mukherjee’s mobile screen. It was one of the traders at a mega-hedge fund that Taponeel used to trade billions of dollars of Swaps and Basis with at Citi Tokyo. His friend wanted to put a big position on a healthcare investment opportunity they were evaluating in India. Known for his speed, precision and expertise, Taponeel immediately called Poornima, who was in a meeting with a Canadian pension fund at the time. She quickly wrapped up her meeting at Delhi’s iconic Imperial Hotel and headed to the office. Over the next 24 hours, Taponeel and Poornima analysed the position with their unique Investor-Operator lens and advised the hedge fund. Millions and millions of  dollars moved at the click of a button to take the position. A few months later, the million and millions of dollars were more than doubled. The play: While there is much discussion about the opportunity in the Indian consumer market, AltG’s Poornima Vardhan and Taponeel Mukherjee know these are still early days. According to them, the Indian consumer market is the single most significant investment opportunity of the 21st Century. Taponeel Mukherjee compares this to how everyone underestimated the market size for Google search back in 2000. He quips, “When you have a bird’s-eye view of the industry from a strategic, financial and operator lens, you see the future that others can’t see”. Poornima Vardhan chips in “The growth the Indian consumer markets are about to witness, and the opportunity it presents is greater than the combined opportunity that the Chinese Consumer Internet Boom, Belle Epoque, Wirtschaftswunder, and The Italian Economic Miracle presented.” However, winning in India is a different matter altogether. Investing in India needs an India-centric approach – Understanding the opportunity from a financial, operational and strategic perspective, grasping the exact future of the business as a minority shareholder and, most importantly, understanding the levers that drive growth as a controlling shareholder.  And this is where AltG – Poornima and Taponeel’s firm are unmatched. No one else in the world can understand the Indian consumer market from a financial, strategic and operational perspective as AltG does. Taponeel says, “We’re bringing together a decade of bulge bracket investment banking experience at UBS and Citi, marrying that with over a decade of operational understanding of businesses and connecting the dots with strategy”. Vardhan adds, “Our intellectual capital is unparalleled, how many teams in this world have the extensive experience of having done multi-billion dollar M&A deal structuring, traded Trillions of Yen derivatives, built retail distribution across tens of thousands of retail points in India, run mega-scale factories and have lived and worked across 7 countries and 3 continents.” For industry insiders, Poornima is known as the “Indian B2C whisperer”.   With over 75000+ hours of research, Poornima and Taponeel have taken their extensive and unparalleled experience and built AltG’s Proprietary Exponential SucceX or The APEX Formula – to systematically analyse and evaluate investment ideas to maximise returns for their clients. Poornima adds, “The reason clients choose AltG is we’re the only firm with 3 key traits: The extensive nationwide reach to understand any consumer opportunity in India, the knowledge to understand every moving part of a business, and in-depth financial understanding of the opportunity to evaluate with both precision and speed”. The Network, Knowledge and Investor- Operator Approach makes AltG stand out. Taponeel Mukherjee adds, “The biggest mistake investors make investing in India is assuming systems and processes that work elsewhere will work here. They’re not wrong; they’re egregiously wrong”. Taponeel Mukherjee and Poornima Vardhan’s APEX Formula is the “Je Ne Sais Quoi” one needs to gain a systemic advantage in the Indian Investment Landscape. For this reason, their intelligence is trusted by top hedge funds, Japanese corporate houses, Canadian Pension funds, top European Asset Managers and hundreds of global private equity funds. India is at the beginning of an epoch that will drive economic growth and prosperity that will define the 21st Century. Taponeel says,” We’re at the beginning of a growth phase where India will be a USD 50 Trillion economy by 2050. If you’re a GP and aren’t investing in India, the question 10 years from now isn’t going to be whether you’re going to have some hard questions to answer to your LPs, but that you may not raise your next fund.”  As India’s GDP is inching its way to the $10 Trillion mark, The Indian consumer market will be the single biggest driver. This is the greatest investment opportunity of the 21st Century, and Poornima and Taponeel have the pole position.  Website Backlink: https://altgind.com/ Articles under ‘Fortune India Exchange’ are either advertorials or advertisements. Effects Of Lifestyle Risk Behaviour Clustering On Cardiovascular Disease Among UK Adults: Latent Class Analysis With Distal Outcomes | Scientific Reports – Nature.com https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/effects-of-lifestyle-risk-behaviour-clustering-on-cardiovascular-disease-among-uk-adults-latent-class-analysis-with-distal-outcomes-scientific-reports-nature-com/ Abstract Lifestyle risk behaviours such as smoking, physical inactivity, and unhealthy diet account for a considerable disease burden globally. These risk behaviours tend to cluster within an individual, which could have detrimental health effects. In this study, we aimed to examine the clustering effect of lifestyle risk behaviours on cardiovascular disease (CVD) and CVD risk among adults in the United Kingdom (UK). We performed a latent class (LC) analysis with distal outcomes using the UK Biobank baseline (2006–2010) data. First, we estimated LC measurement models, followed by an auxiliary model conditional on LC variables. We reported continuous (mean difference—MD) and binary (odds ratio—OR) outcomes with 95% confidence intervals. We included 283,172 and 174,030 UK adults who had data on CVD and CVD risk, respectively. Multiple lifestyle risk behaviour clustering (physically inactive, poor fruit & vegetable intake, high alcohol intake, and prolonged sitting) had a 3.29 mean increase in CVD risk compared to high alcohol intake. In addition, adults with three risk behaviours (physically inactive, poor fruit & vegetable intake, and high alcohol intake) had 25.18 higher odds of having CVD than those with two risk behaviours (physically inactive, and poor fruit and vegetable intake). Social deprivation, gender and age were also associated with CVD. Individuals’ LC membership with two or more lifestyle risk behaviours negatively affects CVD. Interventions targeting multiple lifestyle behaviours and social circumstances should be prioritized to reduce the CVD burden. Introduction Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are responsible for 71% of all deaths worldwide1. Lifestyle risk behaviours such as smoking, physical inactivity, alcohol consumption, and unhealthy diet increase the risk of dying from NCD1. Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs)1,2,3 account for most NCD deaths globally. In the UK, 11% of the population live with CVD, and CVD accounts for 25% of all deaths4. In 2010, the American Heart Association (AHA) recommended seven cardiovascular health behaviours (Life’s Simple 7) to reduce CVD morbidity and mortality in the general population, including smoking, diet, physical activity, body mass index, blood pressure, total cholesterol, and fasting glucose5. The 2019 AHA guideline on the primary prevention of CVD recommends that people engage in a healthy lifestyle throughout their life6. Lifestyle risk behaviours, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, poor diet and physical inactivity are major risk factors for the development of CVD7,8. Physical inactivity and increased sedentary time are important modifiable risk factors for cardiometabolic disease9,10. Physical inactivity is also the fourth leading cause of disease and disability in the UK11. Sleeping too much or too little is also strongly associated with CVD12,13,14. People engaging in multiple risk behaviours tend to have poor health outcomes compared to those engaging in one risk behaviour15. Thus, identifying people with multiple risk behaviours provides insight into where policies should target to reduce inequalities in health16,17. While previous studies have investigated the clustering of lifestyle behaviours for people with CVD18,19 and the general population20, most did not include all major lifestyle behaviours, such as smoking, alcohol intake, fruit and vegetable consumption, physical activity, sitting behaviour, and sleep. To analyse the co-occurrence of multiple health-related behaviours, different statistical approaches have been proposed in the literature21. However, these approaches are mainly focused on identifying clustering of risk behaviours and not estimating their effect on a distal outcome. Latent class (LC) analysis with a distal outcome is important for identifying how different lifestyle risk behaviours occur together among participants based on indicator variables, and to estimate the effect of LC membership on a distal outcome22,23,24. The effects of LC membership (clustering of lifestyle risk behaviours) on CVD and the risk of developing CVD have not yet been investigated. This study aimed to examine the prevalence of six lifestyle risk behaviours (smoking, poor fruit and vegetable consumption, alcohol intake, physical inactivity, prolonged sitting, and poor sleep), and clustering patterns of these lifestyle risk behaviours. In addition, we aimed to identify and estimate the effect of socio-demographic characteristics (age, gender), Townsend deprivation index and LC membership on CVD, and CVD risk. Methods UK Biobank has ethics approval from the North West Multi-centre Research Ethics Committee25. According to this approval, researchers do not require separate ethics applications. All participants provided written informed consent. This study was carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations. Study population We analysed data from the UK Biobank study that included more than 500,000 middle-aged (38–73 years) adults recruited from 22 sites across England, Wales, and Scotland. We used baseline data collected between 2006 and 201026,27. Socio-demographic, lifestyle (smoking, alcohol consumption, dietary intake, physical activity, sitting time and sleep duration) and medical history were collected using the touchscreen questionnaire27. Disease categories The UK Biobank collected self-reported medical information, such as CVD based on physician diagnosis. To define participants’ CVD status, we used data on vascular/heart problems diagnosed by a doctor (Field ID = 6150). Under this Field ID, four CVDs were reported: heart attack, angina, stroke, and high blood pressure. For this analysis, participants who were reported to have at least one of these diseases were classified as having CVD, not otherwise. A total of 283,172 participants without missing data were included. For the 174,030 participants without CVD, we computed a 10-year CVD risk score28 using the Framingham risk score function from the CVrisk package29 in R30. The variables included in the 10-year CVD risk calculation were age, gender, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, systolic blood pressure, blood pressure medication, smoking and diabetes status28. Lifestyle behaviours This analysis used six lifestyle behaviours: smoking, physical activity, fruit and vegetable consumption, alcohol intake, screen and driving time, and sleep duration. Physical activity The UK Biobank collected data on physical activity using adapted questions from the short International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ)31 that includes the frequency, intensity and duration of walking, moderate and vigorous activity. UK Biobank data on time spent on moderate and vigorous activity was added and converted to a metabolic equivalent of task (MET) score. Participants were classified as active if they had ≥ 750 MET min/week or inactive ( 750 MET min/week), based on the 2019 AHA guideline6. Fruit and vegetable intake The UK Biobank collected data on dietary intake using the Food Frequency Questionnaire32. The NHS guideline recommends every individual to eat at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables every day33,34. Data on fresh fruit (pieces), dried fruit (pieces), salad/raw vegetable (heaped tablespoons) and cooked vegetable (heaped tablespoons) were combined to calculate portions. Participants consuming at least 5 portions of fruits and vegetables per day were considered to have adequate fruit and vegetable intake. Alcohol intake Participants were asked for the number of pints of beer, glasses of wine, and measures of spirit consumed in the last week. Since alcoholic drinks differ in the amount of alcohol content, we converted each drink into equivalent standard units (1 unit contains 10 ml of ethyl alcohol)35. We calculated total weekly units of alcohol consumption by adding the units of beer, wine, and spirits. Based on the NHS guidelines35, we grouped participants as low-risk drinkers (≤ 14 units per week) or high-risk drinkers ( 14 units per week). Smoking To measure smoking status, participants were asked, “Do you smoke tobacco now?”. Response options were “Yes, on most or all days”, “Only occasionally” and “No”. Those who responded “yes” or “smoke occasionally” were coded as 1, current smoker, while those who responded as “no” were coded as 0, not a current smoker. Prolonged sitting Total sitting time was calculated from the sum of self-reported hours spent watching television, using the computer, and driving during a typical day. Based on the estimated total sitting time, participants were categorized as low risk sitting ( 8 h/day) or prolonged sitting (≥ 8 h/day)36,37. This was based on the evidence of greater mortality risk for each increased sitting time category compared with  8 h/day36,37. Sleep duration To measure sleep duration, the UK Biobank asked participants ‘About how many hours sleep do you get in every 24 h? (please include naps)’. Sleep duration was split using predefined thresholds from the literature;  7 h, 7–8 h and  8 h13. Based on these cut points, participants were grouped as having ‘poor sleep’ ( 7 or  8 h/night) and ‘good sleep’ (7–8 h/night). Socio-demographic variables Socio-demographic characteristics (age and gender), and Townsend deprivation index (TSDI) were included in the latent class analysis (LCA) model. TSDI was used to measure participants’ deprivation38. The index combines information on housing, employment, car availability and social class, with higher values indicating greater deprivation38. Statistical analysis Descriptive statistics w...

Big Red Scores 28 Unanswered To Down Mooney | News, Sports, Jobs – The Daily Times https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/big-red-scores-28-unanswered-to-down-mooney-news-sports-jobs-the-daily-times/ MINERAL RIDGE — Big Red proved Saturday that a strong finish often is better than a quick start. Steubenville spotted Youngstown Cardinal Mooney an early 7-0 lead before putting four unanswered touchdowns on the board and leaving sun-splashed Joe Lane Stadium at Mineral Ridge High School with a 28-7 victory. With the win, Big Red improves to 8-1 and keeps it spot atop the Ohio Division IV, Region 15 computer rankings. Joe Eitel reports the Big Red has clinched one of the top two seeds for the regional playoffs. The Division V Cardinals fall to 4-5. “It was just a very good team effort,” Big Red’s Reno Saccoccia said after his post-game address to his players. “We’ve got our butts kicked by Mooney plenty of times in the past. “This was a good, solid win and I want to thank our players for the effort.” Mooney took the opening kick and moved from its own 22 to the Big Red 28. On a fourth and one, the Steubenville defense delivered a huge stop to end the threat. The 12-play drive chewed up more than five minutes of the first quarter clock. Big Red’s first possession resulted in a three and out and the Cardinals were back in business at the Steubenville 49. A face mask penalty against the visitors gave Mooney a first down at the 12. Junior quarterback Ashton O’Brien found Alec DelSignore alone in the end zone for the game’s initial score. Nick Pregibon nailed his point after kick. During the opening 12 minutes, Mooney’s offense compiled 85 yards. Saccoccia’s crew tied it at 7 when senior quarterback Phaeton Hill and junior receiver Isaac Hill connected for a 30-yards score. Freshman Cole Bowers was perfect on his first of four PAT tries. The scoring toss capped a 78-yard Big Red march. After the defense forced a Mooney punt, the offense went back to work. This time, Steubenville moved 76 yards. A key play on the march was a 46-yard Phaeton Hill to Isaac Hill completion. The go-ahead touchdown came on a 23-yard Isaac Hill shovel pass to senior Kyjhaun Hopkins. Once he crossed the line of scrimmage, Hopkins had nothing but green ahead of him. Big Red’s offensive explosion continued later in the quarter (there were just 16 ticks left before the half) after sophomore Jalen Minniefield recovered a Mooney fumble following a punt. Steubenville quickly moved 30 yards, Phaeton Hill hitting Hopkins for another six-pointer. Senior Zach Smith recovered a Mooney fumble on the ensuing kick. Bowers tried a 28-yard field goal on the last snap before the intermission but his kick just missed to the right. The game’s final score came via another Phaeton Hill to Isaac Hill hook up. The 33-yard scoring play completed a 76-yard Big Red drive. Phaeton Hill put together a monster game for the Big Red, completing 14 passes for 214 yards and the four scores. Isaac Hill ended with four catches for 125 yards. Hopkins had six grabs for 55. Big Red’s ground game compiled 163 yards on 41 attempts. Senior Gavin Bozica finished 46 yards while senior Spencer Ostovich added 38. Saccoccia’s crew finished with 19 first downs but did draw 10 flags for 83 yards. Defensively, the defense held Mooney to 142 total yards (64 rushing and 78 via the air). During the final three quarters, the Cardinals were limited to just 57 yards. “Offensively, we mixed it up and didn’t give them any steady diet,” Saccoccia said. “Our players did a good job of keeping their ears on and listening in the huddle. “Defensively, we had a good scheme going. We started out slow in the beginning but we did stop them on that first drive. We did give up the first quarter score but after that, our defense played lights out. Our offense played great and we overcame penalties. We are not going to fix them so going forward, we just have to overcome them. “Offense, defense, special teams–the whole package was good today.” Saturday’s contest was the 12th meeting between the tradition rich programs but just the third regular season affair. Mooney now holds an 8-4 lead in the series but Big Red has won three in a row. UP NEXT Big Red drops the regular season curtain when it welcomes Rock Creek Christian Academy, based in Upper Marlboro, Md., to Harding Stadium Friday. “We want to finish strong,” Saccoccia said. “We started the season strong and we want to finish strong. That is our goal for next week.” Steubenville will be making its 22nd consecutive and 35th all-time appearance in the Ohio post-season. Mooney has a Week 10 date with arch-rival Youngstown Ursuline. Hong Kong To Clarify Crypto Position During FinTech Week – Cryptonews https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/hong-kong-to-clarify-crypto-position-during-fintech-week-cryptonews/ Source: the Hong Kong Monetary Authority The authorities of China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region are expected to present a policy statement on the development of the city’s digital assets market at the forthcoming Hong Kong Fintech Week event.  “The policy statement will make our policy stance on virtual assets clear to the global markets. It will also demonstrate our commitment and determination to explore financial innovations together with the global virtual-assets community,” Hong Kong Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christoper Hui Ching-yu told local paper China Daily. The conference is scheduled to be held between October 31 and November 1, hosting a number of debates between local government officials, executives, and industry observers, as indicated by the event’s agenda.  The conference is expected to accommodate more than 500 representatives of financial institutions from across the world, and more than 200 speakers from China and overseas, according to Hui.  The latest announcement comes as cryptocurrency investors are increasingly worried about Hong Kong’s regulatory ambiguity on crypto. The city’s lawmakers are advancing plans to require licensing for crypto trading platforms through an amendment to Hong Kong’s anti-money laundering legislation. Such a change would require companies to offer such services exclusively to professional investors with a portfolio of at least HK$8 million (US$1 million). Should it go through, the decision could discourage numerous crypto investors from carrying out their business in Hong Kong.

Pakistan Summons US Envoy Over Biden ‘most Dangerous Nation’ Remark – Macau Business https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/pakistan-summons-us-envoy-over-biden-most-dangerous-nation-remark-macau-business/ Pakistan on Saturday summoned the US ambassador for an explanation after President Joe Biden described the South Asian country as “one of the most dangerous nations in the world” and questioned its nuclear weapons safety protocols. Biden made the apparently off-the-cuff remark late Thursday while talking about United States foreign policy during a private Democratic Party fundraiser in California, but the White House later published a transcript of his comments, which sparked outrage in Pakistan. Washington’s relations with Pakistan have soured since last year, when the US ended a two-decade war in Afghanistan. Pakistan provided crucial logistical access, but US officials believe Islamabad’s powerful military and intelligence apparatus also aided the Taliban, who swept back to power as foreign troops pulled out. Biden was speaking about his frequent interactions with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, when he said: “Did anybody think we’d be in a situation where China is trying to figure out its role relative to Russia and relative to India and relative to Pakistan? “This is a guy who understands what he wants but has an enormous, enormous array of problems. How do we handle that? How do we handle that relative to what’s going on in Russia?  “And what I think is maybe one of the most dangerous nations in the world: Pakistan. Nuclear weapons without any cohesion.” Hours after the transcript of his address was posted, Pakistan summoned the US ambassador Donald Blome to the foreign office in Islamabad. – Room to manoeuvre – “I have discussed it with the prime minister, and we have summoned the ambassador of the United States… for an official demarche,” Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said during a press conference in Karachi. “I am surprised by the remarks of President Biden. I believe this is exactly the sort of misunderstanding that is created when there is lack of an engagement.” Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif tweeted that Pakistan was a “responsible nuclear state”. “We are proud that our nuclear assets have the best safeguards… We take these safety measures with the utmost seriousness. Let no one have any doubts,” he said. The foreign minister also appeared to offer Washington some room to manoeuvre diplomatically away from Biden’s remarks. “It was not an official function, it was not an address to the nation or an address to the parliament,” he said. “We should allow them an opportunity to explain this position. I don’t believe that this should negatively impact the relations between Pakistan and the United States.” The US is wary of Pakistan’s close partnership with China, as Beijing pushes ahead with a $54 billion “economic corridor” that will build infrastructure and give Beijing an outlet to the Indian Ocean. Washington has repeatedly said China will reap most of the benefits, leaving Pakistan with unsustainable debt. The warnings by the US — which considers China its preeminent global competitor — have repeatedly been brushed aside by Pakistan. Pakistan this week abstained from a United Nations General Assembly vote to condemn Russia’s annexation of parts of Ukraine, despite a major US diplomatic push to seek clearer condemnation of Moscow. by Zain Zaman JANJUA

RECOM Technologies LION HJT PV Module Series with power output over 700Wp & life expectancy over 30 years Lion series modules with power output over 700Wp are based on Heterojunction (HJT) technology. Heterojunction (HJT) photovoltaic module is a ground breaking technology as it guarantees high performance and low degradation of the PV module, substantially improving the results and the yield in the time. Heterojunction solar cells combine two different technologies into one cell: a mono thin crystalline silicon wafer surrounded by ultra-thin amorphous silicon layers. This allows an increase in the efficiency of the panels and more energy to be harvested easily when compared to conventional silicon solar panels.  With bifaciality factor up to 90% (compared to 70% industry standard modules), Lion modules gain up to 20% more energy yield, in low-light conditions, in the morning an evening hours and with cloudy skies.
