U.S. Mulls Joint Weapons Production With Taiwan Nikkei Reports Reuters.com
U.S. Mulls Joint Weapons Production With Taiwan, Nikkei Reports – Reuters.com https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/u-s-mulls-joint-weapons-production-with-taiwan-nikkei-reports-reuters-com/
TOKYO, Oct 19 (Reuters) – The U.S. government is considering a plan to jointly produce weapons with Taiwan, Japan’s Nikkei newspaper said on Wednesday, citing three sources.
Washington wants to step up production capacity for U.S.-designed arms and speed up their transfer as part of a move to bolster deterrence against China, Nikkei reported.
Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Sunday that China would never renounce the right to use force over Taiwan, which it views as its own territory, but that it would strive for a peaceful resolution.

Taiwan’s presidential office said earlier this week Taiwan would not back down on its sovereignty and would not compromise on freedom and democracy, but that meeting on the battlefield was not an option.
The Nikkei report added that a person with direct knowledge of the U.S. government’s deliberations said discussions had begun, while a different source said it was likely to take some time.
Possibilities would include the U.S. providing technology to produce weapons in Taiwan, or producing the weapons in the United States using Taiwanese parts, the Nikkei added.
Tensions in the region remain high. On Tuesday, the Taiwan Defence Ministry said two Chinese air force planes crossed the Taiwan Strait median line.

Holidu Pockets $98M To Keep Growing Its Vacation Rentals Business In Europe TechCrunch
Holidu Pockets $98M To Keep Growing Its Vacation Rentals Business In Europe – TechCrunch https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/holidu-pockets-98m-to-keep-growing-its-vacation-rentals-business-in-europe-techcrunch/
Munich-based software and services vacation rental startup, Holidu, has topped up its coffers with an oversubscribed €104 million (~$102M) Series E funding round of equity and debt, led by existing investor 83North, after seeing its year-over-year revenue grew 100% in 2021.
The round saw a mix of other existing and new investors chipping in, including in the latter camp Northzone, HV Capital, Vintage Investment Partners and Commonfund Capital, and with (in the former) Prime Ventures, EQT Ventures, coparion, Senovo, Lios Ventures and Possible Ventures.
The €100M raise also includes a chunk of venture debt — €25M — that’s been put up by Claret Capital and Silicon Valley Bank. So the equity component of the Series E comprises €75M.
While travel startups were hit hard by coronavirus lockdowns in the early wave of the pandemic, vacation rentals picked up fairly quickly as lockdowns eased later on in 2020 and 2021, and as platforms retooled to cater to reconfigured demand from travellers opting for more domestic breaks over going further afield, for example.
Holiday homes were also better positioned than other travel options like hotels (or, er, cruise ships) to offer attractive private spaces where people could feel safer about taking a break even as vaccine rollouts were still ramping up. And Holidu and its investors are banking on that increased demand sticking around.
The German startup tells TechCrunch travel and booking patterns have now largely returned to resembling the pre-pandemic picture, from 2019, with a rise in international (vs domestic) travel bookings. It also says holidaymakers are feeling more comfortable about planning ahead again and back to booking around a month in advance vs the shorter timeframes people switched to during the height of COVID-19 uncertainty.
Post-pandemic (or, well, post-the-peak-of-the-crisis), demand for travel has rebounded fiercely as plenty of people hankered to finally get away again — which is reflected in the larger growth Holidu booked in 2021 (100%) vs 2020 (when it was up around 50% y-o-y).
It says its vacation rentals metasearch engine, which compares listings across over 1,500 websites, reached more than 110 million visitors in the last 12 months. And — with fresh funding in its back pocket — Holidu is gearing up to further press on the growth gas by expanding its rollout of local office locations to support its market outreach efforts.
A second strand of its business is aimed at increasing supply via a software and services play, called Bookiply, targeting vacation rental hosts — helping them get their properties online by streamlining administration and supporting them to grow bookings.
The startup says the unit grew 13x between 2019 and 2022. In 2021 specifically, Bookiply’s revenue growth was 4.4x — and in the first nine months of 2022 its revenues have grown 3.3x. While the number of managed Bookiply homes has stacked up from 5,000 three years ago to nearly 20,000 now — but it sees plenty of room to keep building that out.
“As a group we are growing at a high double digit rate,” CEO and co-founder, Johannes Siebers, told TechCrunch.
“We see that our company delivers true value to hosts and guests, which is reflected in our very strong host retention and guest satisfaction. We will now scale our region-by-region approach into Europe’s large and attractive hosting market. This financing round is a great vote of confidence in the current environment. We are on the path to build a big company,” he added in a statement.
Holidu’s growth has been fuelled by a number of acquisitions in key markets — with Holidu buying a veteran holiday home portal Spain-Holiday.com last year; and picking up a couple of vacation rental services firms focused on German speaking markets (Lohospo and my.IRS) earlier this year to boost its services offering in the DACH markets (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
“With the Series E raise, we are open to further acquisitions on the supply side,” Siebers also told us.
While the startup reported reaching profitability with its search business back in 2020 he says it remains focused on scaling — saying its too early to consider an IPO at this stage (NB: Holidu was founded back in 2014).
“With close to 20,000 Bookiply properties we consider it still ‘early days’ for us,” he said. “The global market is very large and we are fully focused on expanding our property base in new and existing areas and on working on our products for hosts and guests.”
Discussing trends it’s seen accelerating over the last three years, he flags the adoption of vacation rentals as a big one — pointing to a McKinsey study that found that 43% of travellers during 2021 booked a vacation rental for the first time, and reported that three-quarters of respondents planned to continue to stay in vacation rentals for at least half their trips in the future.
Flexible work patterns established as a result of the pandemic are also resulting in travel seasons broadening, per Siebers, who says they’ve seen stronger booking demand for “shoulder seasons” outside of core school holidays.
And a final (contradictory) trend he flags is demand for “sustainable” vacation rental homes, with accommodations that are marked by Holidu with an “Eco” label achieving a 12% higher click through rate and a 29% higher conversion rate than properties which do not possess such a label — suggesting travellers are looking for ways to offset any environmental guilt they may feel about jetting off by taking steps to reduce the overall emissions load of their holiday.
One growth trend Siebers does not mention is rising rents for long term tenants looking for accommodation they can actually live in.
Housing costs are being exacerbated by the cost of living crisis that’s driving inflation and interest rates, atop a long term undersupply of affordable housing stock across many regions, but vacation rentals complicate the picture by further reducing accommodation units available for long term tenants to rent.
This trend is fuelling a fresh wave of calls for regulators to clamp down on short term lets that could encourage more towns and cities to adopt measures to restrict vacation rentals — especially in cities and regions that are also popular tourist destinations. So rising housing costs is one pressure-point that could throw up some harder roadblocks to future growth of the vacation rentals sector in the coming years.
This report was updated with a correction to the total amount raised after Holidu provided us with an incorrect (rounded down) figure for the amount of euros raised initially. They told us they had raised €100M — but subsequently said the actual amount is €104M — so we have amended the figures

What Channel Is Yankees Vs. Astros On Today? Time, TV Schedule For The 2022 ALCS Game 1 – Sporting News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/what-channel-is-yankees-vs-astros-on-today-time-tv-schedule-for-the-2022-alcs-game-1-sporting-news/
The two American League Division Series shaped up in wildly different ways.
For the Astros, the ALDS was a breeze. Yordan Alvarez’s walk-off dinger in Game 1 capped off a momentous rally, one that seemingly propelled them through the remainder of their three-game beatdown of the Mariners. Jeremy Pena’s 18th-inning blast in Game 3 proved the ultimate dagger, as Houston notched its sixth straight ALCS appearance in style.
For the Yankees, the path to the Championship Series was far more treacherous. Between postponements, delays and tightly-contested games, the New York-Cleveland series proved to be an absolute doozy. It went the full five games, ending with the Yankees winning over the Guardians behind the bats of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.
Now comes the fun part. The ‘Stros and Yanks are just four wins away from the World Series. For Houston, the focus is clear: get to the end of the month and give yourself a chance to wash away the sins of last year’s World Series loss.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are in a slightly more uncertain situation. The Bronx Bombers haven’t taken part in the Fall Classic since 2009, but this is their third ALCS since 2017.
But perhaps that inexperience can buoy them to the promise land, just as it did for the Braves last year or the Nationals in 2019.
Either way, it should be a peach of a series. And it gets kicked off on Wednesday.

HidrateSpark Adds An Insulated Flip Lid Smart Bottle To Its Collection Gadgets & Wearables
HidrateSpark Adds An Insulated Flip Lid Smart Bottle To Its Collection – Gadgets & Wearables https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/hidratespark-adds-an-insulated-flip-lid-smart-bottle-to-its-collection-gadgets-wearables/
HidrateSpark has announced a new addition to its collection of smart water bottles. This one comes with an insulated flip lid to cater to the coffee and tea consumer market.
Earlier this year HidrateSpark brought us the largest smart water bottle in existence. Packing a 32oz design, it is sure to keep you hydrated. Unlike the predecessor generations, smart water bottles that are a part of that range eliminate the need for battery replacements. They introduce the ability to charge the smart LED sensor puck. Which makes them easier to maintain.
Now the company is back with another variant. Something for those that prefer hot drinks.
A smart water bottle for coffee and tea lovers
The HidrateSpark PRO 21oz Insulated Flip Lid smart bottle is here just in time for the colder weather in the US and Europe. Its novelty is the new flip lid accessory which allows users to consume tea, coffee and other hot drinks safely.
As with other smart bottles in its range, this one will maintain the cool temperature of your drink for up to a day. If you prefer the hot drink option, the new HydrateSpark will keep your drink warm for up to 6 hours.
Those who already own a bottle from the HidrateSpark PRO range will be happy to know that the $9.99 flip lid accessory can be fitted on to their device. If you own a 17, 21 or 32oz size from that line, simply slot the accessory onto your bottle. You can purchase it in choice between Black or Grey.
HidrateSpark Flip Lid accessory
The company has also expanded its software to be able to also track coffee and tea consumption. Users will get a breakdown of their liquid intake in the smartphone app. All of this will go towards your daily hydration goals, together with your water intake.
Beyond that you get the same functionality as the predecessor generations. This includes the customisable lights which shine in one of 6 different colour combinations to remind you to stay hydrated.
The HidrateSpark Insulated Flip Lid Smart Bottle comes in various colour options, but only one 21oz size. It retails for $69.99 and you can pick it up in a choice between Black, Deep Blue and Brushed Stainless Steel. If you want a different sized bottle we suggest you go for one from the Pro line and upgrade it with the Flip Lid attachment. For now the Flip Lid option is only available on the HidrateSpark website. Check availability on Amazon.

South Korean Police Have Seized $1.3m In Crypto In 2022, Critics Say It’s Not Enough – Cryptonews https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/south-korean-police-have-seized-1-3m-in-crypto-in-2022-critics-say-its-not-enough-cryptonews/

South Korean police have seized $1.3 million worth of crypto in criminal investigations so far this year, official numbers have revealed.
According to Segye Ilbo, the figure is just a small fraction (1.4%) of the total $92 million worth of assets seized by officers in criminal investigations.
The data was compiled by the National Police Agency and made public by Choi Ki-sang, a Democratic Party lawmaker. It includes figures from the “first half” of 2022, with a total for the year unlikely to be made public until the middle of 2023.
The statistics also showed that officers had asked courts to let them confiscate cryptoassets in 13 separate cases this year. In 2021, officers made 36 such requests – and only made eight requests in the whole of 2020.
$1.3 m Seized: Officers ‘Can’t Keep up with Criminals’
Critics claim that the modest figure of $1.3 million shows that the police simply lack the knowledge and IT capabilities required to fight Web3-era crime. They claim that officers are unable to keep up with criminals – with some stating that crypto-powered money laundering is actually rising sharply in South Korea.
The police force last year announced the launch of a network of specialized crypto teams, while the government is set to respond by launching a new crypto regulator. And, more recently, the nation’s prosecution service announced that it is ready to spend big on sophisticated crypto monitoring tools.
But despite claims that officers are getting better at stopping crypto-related crime, experts beg to differ.
Lee Woong-hyuk, a Professor of Policing at the elite Konkuk University, was quoted as stating:
“Money-laundering technology related to cryptoassets becomes more complex and more intelligent as the years go by, but investigative agencies […] cannot keep pace. There may be a need for government-level [intervention] to increase the amount of [illicit crypto seized in criminal investigations] and support investigations in cases related to cryptoassets.”

Taiwan And U.S. Tensions With China Pose ‘serious’ Challenges For Chip Industry – TSMC – Reuters https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/taiwan-and-u-s-tensions-with-china-pose-serious-challenges-for-chip-industry-tsmc-reuters/

HSINCHU, Taiwan, Oct 19 (Reuters) – Rising Taiwan-China and U.S.-China tensions have brought “more serious” challenges for the semiconductor industry, the chairman of Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC (2330.TW) said on Wednesday.
Taiwan is a major producer of chips used in everything from cars and smartphones to data centres and fighter jets, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (TSMC) is the world’s largest contract chipmaker and Asia’s most valuable listed firm.
While the chips sector is already bracing for waning demand as red-hot inflation squeezes spending, Taiwan faces a tougher situation – sandwiched between its largest export market China and its main international backer and arms supplier, the United States – especially as Beijing steps up military pressure to force Taipei to accept Chinese sovereignty claims.

Speaking at the Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association’s annual convention, TSMC Chairman Mark Liu said: “The U.S.-China trade conflict and the escalation of cross-Strait tensions have brought more serious challenges to all industries, including the semiconductor industry.”
In recent years, China’s government has “never stopped promoting its domestic semiconductor industry”, including chip design, manufacturing, and packaging, he said.
The United States has also passed its CHIPS Act to vigorously support local research and development and manufacturing, Liu said.
Liu said he looked forward to Taiwan’s industry, government and academia developing “more concrete, constructive measures” on industrial policies related to innovation, research, talent education and retention “to maintain Taiwan’s most critical semiconductor industry advantages”.
He noted that this year the “industry value” of Taiwan’s chip sector is expected to have risen one-fifth compared with 2021, even with the impact of Sino-U.S. trade friction and geopolitical problems.
While Liu did not make direct mention of it, the sweeping set of export controls announced by the United States this month, aimed at slowing China’s progress in advanced chip manufacturing, is expected to also impact Taiwanese chipmakers.
The new rules require U.S. companies to cease supplying Chinese chipmakers with equipment to make relatively advanced chips, though Washington has granted some non-Chinese companies operating in China one-year licenses.”
“The difficulty this time will be a very big challenge,” Nicky Lu, chairman of Taiwan chip design firm Etron Technology Inc (5351.TWO), told reporters ahead of the event. “No one will escape the impact.”
Frank Huang, chairman of Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp , said the sector was caught in a difficult situation.
“We do business on both sides of the Strait. So we can’t listen to the U.S. and not do any business with mainland China. Then what would everyone eat?” Huang said. “Our industry’s position is to maintain our competitiveness.”
TSMC, which makes most of its chips in Taiwan, last week cut its annual investment budget by at least 10% for 2022 and struck a more cautious note than usual on upcoming demand. read more
TSMC’s dominance in making some of the world’s most advanced chips for high-end customers such as Apple Inc (AAPL.O) and Qualcomm Inc (QCOM.O) has shielded it in recent quarters from the downturn flagged by chipmakers including Micron Technology Inc (MU.O).

Adaptive partners with Google Cloud to improve capital markets trading
Global trading technology solution provider Adaptive Financial Consulting (Adaptive) has partnered with Google Cloud to improve capital markets trading.
The collaboration follows Adaptive’s acquisition of low-latency trading technology provider Real Logic earlier this year, which provided the company with message transport and service container solutions through Real Logic’s Aeron suite.
Through the partnership, Adaptive will benefit from Google Cloud’s processing and analytic capabilities, along with strengthened resilience for Google Cloud-built services. Adaptive’s financial service firm clients will be able to innovate and modernise their infrastructures.
Fergus Keenan, chief strategy officer at Adaptive, says: “Over the past few years, we have seen a significant shift in the willingness for capital markets firms to move trading workflows to the cloud. To remain competitive, firms have had to evolve swiftly, both in terms of how and where they trade.
“Adaptive’s Aeron runs natively on the cloud, providing fast, highly secure, fault-tolerance, round-the-clock, low-latency messaging services, which gives our clients the assurance that their platform will continue to run smoothly in any market condition. Partnering with Google Cloud will allow our clients to differentiate further using the full potential of Google Cloud’s capabilities whilst benefiting from the technological resiliency offered by Aeron.”

KENNEWICK, Wash. — A memorial along the Columbia River, near the Cable Bridge, pays a tribute to Brandy Ebanez.
It’s feet away from where her body was found along the riverbank, in September.
“She brought so much joy to everybody,” Breeann Ebanez, Brandy’s sister said.
Ebanez, the youngest of her family, was born tough, according to her sister.
Mmy sister was born premature, she was born a fighter, she was like three pounds,” Breeann said.
The siblings and family grew up on Hawaii’s Big Island, then moved to the Portland, Oregon area when Brandy was in sixth grade.
“Her smile and her laugh – her laugh was contagious — no matter what problem you had, she always tried to make something good come out of it,” Breeann said that’s what she would miss most about her little sister.
RELATED: Woman’s suspected killer arrested in Oregon
Family believes Brandy was trying to stay far away from the man accused of her murder, by filing a protection order, which she says wasn’t easy.
“To do this process is just crazy. Why? Why is it so hard to just do that?” Breeann questioned.
Brandy was pregnant when she was murdered.
Breeann said the suspect was the father of the unborn children and Brandy’s two other daughters.
The Ebanez family still have so many questions, lingering – like, why?
“Selfish, selfish. It was all about him it was never about my sister never about their children, it was never ever he always thought about himself. Everything is just a question, like why, why he did this, why do my nieces have to live without their mom?”
Breeann said Brandy’s body is still in Benton County, they’re awaiting the results of her autopsy, and plan to bury her in Hawaii.
Brandy’s children will be cared for by their grandmother; they wrote this note to let the community know how much they loved their mother.
“She was an awesome, soft-hearted mom who cared a lot about her children, she was loved in all our hearts – she worked hard as a single mom, she protected us, no matter what, and that we love her.”
A fund has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses and getting Brandy back to Hawaii.
The man accused of her murder is awaiting extradition back to Washington. Records say he’s due in court on November 7th.

Planning A Vacation But Spooked By Soaring Air Ticket Prices? Heres What You Can Do Business Today
Planning A Vacation, But Spooked By Soaring Air Ticket Prices? Here’s What You Can Do – Business Today https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/planning-a-vacation-but-spooked-by-soaring-air-ticket-prices-heres-what-you-can-do-business-today/
If you are a frequent traveller, then you must be feeling the pinch of rising flight tickets, especially around the festive season. This is because the average price of tickets from metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai to Tier 2 cities has risen as high as 30 per cent compared to last year. The trend is same across the country. One of the reasons for expensive flight tickets is the increase in the price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) by around 80 per cent as compared to last year. Another reason is the lifting of Covid curbs that has led to the rise in the number of bookings as compared to the last year.
In such a situation there is one way to reduce your traveling cost: Credit cards. Credit cards offer reward points or travel mile programs, which are designed for those who travel quite often. Most travel credit cards provide accelerated earnings on travel spends resulting in higher points/miles accumulation which, in turn, translates to higher savings on redemption. However, the actual savings will differ from one card to another as the redemption rates and modes vary.
“Each card has its own system of awarding miles every time you use the card. Some credit cards offer air miles in place of reward points whereas others allow you to convert reward points to air miles. Some are co-branded with popular airlines, some with loyalty programs while others offer basic air miles that are redeemable in several ways. As a result, the redemption process also varies from card to card,” says Sachin Vasudeva – Director, Paisabazaar.
For example, Citi PremierMiles Credit Card lets you earn ‘Miles’ which can be used to get a discount on your flight ticket but this can be done in many ways. You can choose to ‘pay with points’ on a third-party platform like MakeMyTrip, Goibibo, etc. or transfer them to an eligible airline loyalty program. The redemption rate also varies accordingly. On the other hand, if you have an airline co-branded card, points may be redeemable under the airline’s frequent flyer program only.
Graphic: Pragati Srivastava
How to earn and redeem air miles? “In most cases, air miles will be converted to future travel purchases, including airfare, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, travel package deals, etc. The value of air miles depends on your usage. For instance, a co-branded credit card may offer you 4 miles per Rs 100 spent on the card. However, you get 30 miles per Rs 100 spent if you book airline tickets with the partner airline via their website. Then there are sign-up bonus miles and miles for reaching spending milestones on the card. The same applies to redeeming points and air miles as well. Your issuer may allow you to redeem air miles against flight tickets, hotel bookings, or even package tours. So, you’ll need to look up what it would cost you to book your hotel room or airfare using cash instead of air miles or reward points,” says Pankaj Bansal, CBO, BankBazaar.com.
Bansal explains, for instance, that you may be eligible for a 40 per cent discount on your hotel or a free air ticket. You need to calculate what is better. For instance, redeeming rewards may save you Rs.15,000 on hotel bookings while the cost of the flight ticket may be only Rs.10,000. So, you need to understand what rewards to leverage. Make sure to factor in the redemption charges as some issuers charge a redemption fee at the time of redemption.
Credit cards offering travel points/miles are usually co-branded with popular airlines or travel portals. The usage should, therefore, be planned accordingly in order to optimise the rewards. The redemption value of the travel points matters the most. “In most cases, 1 point does not mean Rs. 1, this is why understanding the redemption rate is important. Similarly, for cards that allow reward point conversion into air miles, the rate of such conversion matters. Understand the reward structure, compare the rates and read the fine print before availing the facility,” explains Vasudeva.
“Some of the most popular travel credit cards that offer air miles are Citi PremierMiles Credit Card, Axis Vistara Signature Credit Card, Intermiles HDFC Signature Credit Card and Air India SBI Platinum Credit Card. Most air miles credit cards in India are co-branded with popular airlines and offer air miles under the said airline’s loyalty program. For example, Axis Vistara Card offers Club Vistara Points and Air India SBI Card offers Air India Air Miles. Such co-branded cards are useful if you prefer a particular airline,” adds Vasudeva.

Dementia: Patients with moderate cognitive impairment or early-stage dementia benefit most from physical and cognitive therapy.

Dementia: Therapy can help manage the emotional effects of having dementia
What is dementia?
A phenomenon known as dementia refers to a decline in cognitive performance that goes beyond what may be anticipated from the typical effects of biological ageing. Although dementia mostly affects older individuals, it is not a necessary part of becoming older.
A set of symptoms that substantially impair memory, reasoning, and social skills are referred to be dementia when they significantly interfere with day-to-day functioning. Although there isn’t one particular illness that causes dementia, many illnesses can.
How to identify dementia?
Memory loss is a common symptom of dementia, although it can have many different causes. Memory loss alone does not always indicate dementia, despite the fact that it is frequently one of the first symptoms of the illness.
Although there are several additional causes of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease is the most frequent one in older persons. Some dementia symptoms might be reversible, depending on the underlying reason.
How can therapy benefit dementia patients?
Damage to or loss of the brain’s nerve cells and connections is what leads to dementia. Dementia can have varied effects on different people and produce distinct symptoms depending on the part of the brain that is affected.
Dementias are frequently categorised according to characteristics they share, such as the protein or proteins deposited in the brain or the area of the brain affected. Some illnesses that resemble dementias, particularly those brought on by pharmaceutical interactions or vitamin shortages, may get better with therapy.
According to a recent study, people with dementia who experience anxiety or sadness may benefit from talking therapy. Persons with dementia frequently have mental health issues including sadness and anxiety, and prior research indicates that 38% of people with moderate dementia experience these illnesses.
The latest study, however, is the first to examine whether talking therapy frequently provided in hospital settings could be useful in alleviating symptoms. It was published in eClinicalMedicine.
As you can imagine, a condition that impairs one’s cognitive abilities and memories may cause harm to one’s emotional health. Lack of proper treatment or lack of care and support in the surroundings can lead to making this condition unbearable.
Anxiety, panic attacks as well as depression may be caused due to a reaction to being diagnosed with dementia. Besides medication, therapy is viewed as an effective way to treat these mood disorders.
Patients with moderate cognitive impairment or early-stage dementia benefit most from physical and cognitive therapy. These individuals are best able to comprehend what we are asking them to do, and their brains are more equipped to do the activities.
The focus of therapy and available treatments change as dementia progresses. Patients with more severe dementia could benefit from working only with an occupational therapist who specialises in daily living skills, for example.
Is therapy an alternative to medication?
Some individuals are concerned as to whether therapy can eliminate their need for medication. It’s possible that medication is not necessary if you have moderate cognitive impairment (MCI). Medication is a good idea for mild dementia or even more severe disease development. In general, you are advised to try everything that could be beneficial. Therapy alone is frequently adequate for MCI. It is frequently advantageous to explore both medicine and treatment for dementia with a recognised aetiology.
Keep these things in mind if you or someone you know is experiencing dementia.

OBSERVER Photo by Braden Carmen Silver Creek Mayor Jeff Hornburg is optimistic about receiving grant funding to restore the old school building in the village.
SILVER CREEK — After a public hearing with positive response from the community, the village has moved forward with seeking a grant to restore the old school building.
The Restore New York grant from Empire State Development is to restore the building, located at 60 Main St., for the purpose of a 47-unit assisted-living facility for senior citizens. The village remains hopeful for approval from the state level.
Silver Creek Mayor Jeff Hornburg said previously, “We’ve been working for years to get the building refurbished. … We’re willing to work with them any way we can.”
Also recently in the village, an agreement with FeedMore WNY has proven to be a successful partnership, as the mobile food pantry event surpassed expectations of the village. Silver Creek is planning to hold another mobile food pantry event on the fourth Tuesday of every month throughout the rest of a year-long agreement, including the next event Tuesday, Oct. 25.
The event currently is at the village municipal parking lot from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., but if weather becomes an issue during the winter months, an alternate location will be chosen.
“Our first one we had in September, we had 150 boxes supplied to us and we went through it in 45 minutes,” said Hornburg. The food is free for everyone, while supplies last.
The village is also looking forward to Halloween events, with trick-or-treat hours set from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31. The Kiwanis Club is holding a “trunk-or-treat” at the village park during trick-or-treat hours, and the village will also have candy to pass out at the dining car in the municipal parking lot during trick-or-treat hours.

Metaverse Startup Flowing Cloud Lists In Hong Kong Flat R&D Investment Raises Concern Pandaily
Metaverse Startup Flowing Cloud Lists In Hong Kong, Flat R&D Investment Raises Concern – Pandaily https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/metaverse-startup-flowing-cloud-lists-in-hong-kong-flat-rd-investment-raises-concern-pandaily/
AR and VR services provider Flowing Cloud was officially listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on October 18 as its first metaverse-related stock, with an opening price of HK$2.21 ($0.28) per share, equal to the issue price. However, shares then saw a 2.36% fall to HK$2.07 on October 19, resulting in a total market value of about HK$3.747 billion.
Flowing Cloud’s prospectus is rather striking, as it mentions “metaverse” more than 300 times. Founded in 2008, Zhangzhong Feitian Technology, the predecessor of Flowing Cloud, was listed on the National Equities Exchange and Quotation (NEEQ) in 2017. It was aimed at the mobile game market, then gradually turned to AR and VR, withdrawing from the NEEQ in 2019. In 2021, when the metaverse concept suddenly became a hit, the company built a new platform and in November changed its name to Flowing Cloud, announcing its strategic layout in the metaverse field.
AR and VR devices, as front-end entrances to the metaverse, are full of potential again. Flowing Cloud stated in its prospectus that AR and VR are the key applications to achieve and empower the immersive experience of the metaverse, and that they are the prerequisites and entry thresholds for its development stage.
Therefore, AR and VR marketing services have now become the most important source of income for Flowing Cloud. According to data from iiMedia Research, Flowing Cloud ranks first in the AR/VR content and services market in terms of revenue, accounting for a 2.6% total market share in 2021.

From 2019 to 2021, its AR/VR marketing services business achieved revenues of 137 million yuan ($18.9 million), 142 million yuan and 376 million yuan respectively, accounting for 54.6%, 41.9% and 63.2% of its current revenue. In addition, AR/VR content business achieved revenues of 45 million yuan, 115 million yuan and 161 million yuan, accounting for 18.1%, 33.9% and 27.1% of the current revenue. In addition to the above business, the company also provides AR/VR SaaS and IP business.
Financial data show that from 2019 to 2021, Flowing Cloud’s revenue was 250 million yuan, 339 million yuan and 595 million yuan respectively, and its net profit increased year-on-year. In the first quarter of 2022, the company’s net profit was 40.2 million yuan, up 316% year-on-year, of which the gross profit margin of AR/VR content production business reached 55.3%.
Its impressive performance has attracted several key investors for Flowing Cloud. Through its recent listing, Flowing Cloud introduced cornerstone investors such as Anji State-Owned Assets Management, Qicai Lingfeng and SenseTime. The three parties subscribed to the offering shares of Flowing Cloud of about 167 million yuan in total.
However, stagnant R&D investment that does not match income growth has caused Flowing Cloud to be called into question. In 2019, 2020, 2021 and the first quarter this year, the R&D expenditure of Flowing Cloud was 11.425 million yuan, 15.046 million yuan, 21.703 million yuan and 8.152 million yuan respectively, accounting for only 4.6%, 4.4%, 3.6% and 3.6% of the total revenue in the same period, showing a decreased trend.

In its prospectus, the company stated that the underlying technology is its core competence, and in the past, the company subcontracted non-core technology development and interactive content modules to third parties. Its R&D team has 59 full-time employees, including 28 engineers and 21 designers, accounting for about 43.1% of all employees.
Although Flowing Cloud seems to be oriented squarely within the metaverse field after a name change, many have doubted the extent to which metaverse represents its core business. Investors noticed many expectations and goals rather than real achievements in the firm’s prospectus. Thus, there is still a long way to go from concept to application.

It hasn’t been long since Apple released iOS 16.0 with over 350 new features, but iOS 16.1 is hot on its tail with even more cool updates for your iPhone. While some of the recent upgrades were expected, others are somewhat surprising — and there’s even one that you may not even think was possible.
Apple’s iOS 16.1 update is still in beta testing, but you can install the beta on your iPhone right now if you want to start testing the below features out before everyone else. However, Apple will release iOS 16.1 to everyone on Oct. 24, so it might be best to wait for the stable update if you’re not already a part of beta testing. (Some of these features also appear on iPadOS 16.1 for iPad, also still in beta.)
Don’t Miss: Apple Photos Has 21 New Features for iPhone That Make Your Life Easier
1. Larger Numbers for Battery Percentage
On iOS 16.0, Apple finally added a switch in the Battery settings on Face ID devices to enable the battery percentage in the status bar, something Touch ID devices have long been able to do. The update put the percentage inside the battery icon, and iOS 16.1 makes the numbers larger and easier to see. Below, you can see the icons before and after in light and dark modes.
2. Battery Percentage for More iPhones
While iOS 16.0 lets us add the battery percentage to the battery icon in the status bar on Face ID devices, it’s not available on all Face ID models. Specifically, the iPhone XR, 11, 12 mini, and 13 mini are left out, presumedly because of their smaller displays. The iOS 16.1 update adds support for those models, so now all iPhone models that can run iOS 16 can get the new battery icon.
3. Clean Energy Charging
Go to Settings – Battery, then open up the “Battery Health & Charging” menu, previously just “Battery Health,” and you’ll see a new option called “Clean Energy Charging.”
Apple says your iPhone “will try to reduce your carbon footprint by selectively charging when lower carbon emission electricity is available.” It goes on to say your iPhone “learns from your daily charging routine so it can reach full charge before you need to use it.”
The setting should be automatically enabled by default, but the “Learn More” link goes to a non-existing webpage, which should go live when iOS 16.1 stable is released.
4. Live Activities
Live Activities are finally here. They appear on the bottom of your iPhone’s lock screen, as well as in the Dynamic Island for the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models, and display an app’s most current data, updated in real time.
Live sports games in the Apple TV app is one example of what Live Activities can do. Pick a live game available in your region from the Live Sports section, then tap the “Follow” button. You’ll then see the play-by-play and real-time scores on your lock screen and in the Dynamic Island if you have an iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max. Right now, I can only get it to work with MLB games.
According to Apple, a Live Activity can only be active for up to eight hours in the Dynamic Island, but it can go as long as 12 hours on the lock screen. So on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, a Live Activity would disappear from the Dynamic Island after eight hours but remain on your lock screen for up to four more hours. Needless to say, you can stop following a Live Activity at any time.
There are also four different viewing modes for Live Activities in the Dynamic Island: a compact leading view, a compact trailing view, a minimal view, and an expanded view.
5. Live Activities API
Live Activities aren’t just available for Apple’s apps — any third-party developer can incorporate them into their apps using the new ActivityKit framework. Examples of activities you could track include a ride pickup from Uber or Lyft, package delivery from UPS or FedEx, food delivery from GrubHub or DoorDash, pickup order for Starbucks or Target, workout using Nike or Health, and so on.
While developers are now building Live Activities for their apps, you won’t be able to try any out until the iOS 16.1 stable release appears. That’s because developers can’t submit their updated apps with Live Activities to the App Store until the iOS 16.1 Release Candidate is available, the last beta build. You may be able to find beta apps on TestFlight that are experimenting with Live Activities.
6. Download In-App Content Before First Launching Apps
There’s a new toggle in Settings – App Store for “In-App Content,” which will “automatically run apps in the background to download content before you first launch them” when enabled. You’ll notice the change mostly in games and navigation apps that need a lot of resources to run correctly. The App Store has file size limits, but developers can push the required resources after the initial app installation.
It is unclear if the feature only applies during the app’s initial installation or if it can also install new in-app content in the background after manually or automatically installing an app update. After installing the iOS 16.1 update, this toggle should be enabled by default.

7. Subscribe to Fitness+ Without Apple Watch
Before iOS 16.1, you had to have an Apple Watch to subscribe to Fitness+ in the Fitness app. Now, you don’t need one, but you’d be missing out on all the health and fitness metrics displayed on the Apple Watch during a workout. If you don’t care about that data and just want to follow along to a workout session, Fitness+ is now a viable option.
8. New Shortcut Actions
The iOS 16.0 update added almost 60 new actions in the Shortcuts app, and iOS 16.1 throws a few more in. The first is “Get Current Focus” for the Settings app, which returns the currently active focus. The second is “Search in Shortcuts” for the Shortcuts app, which opens Shortcuts and performs a search for the specified text. And the third is “Open Smart List,” which opens a specific smart list in Reminders.

9. Better Categories for Shortcut Icon Glyphs
On iOS 16.0.3. and earlier, whenever choosing a shortcut icon, the icon picker would categorize all the glyphs by Objects, People, and Symbols — that’s it. (Left GIF below.) With such few groups, it’s better just to use the search tool.
On iOS 16.1, there are now categories for Accessibility, Arrows, Automotive, Camera & Photos, Commerce, Communication, Connectivity, Devices, Editing, Fitness, Gaming, Health, Home, Human, Indices, Keyboard, Math, Media, Nature, Objects, Objects & Tools, People, Privacy & Security, Shapes, Symbols, Text Formatting, Time, Transportation, and Weather, not necessarily in that order. (Right GIF below.)
Before (left) and after (right) the iOS 16.1 update.
10. Glyphs for Shortcuts Show in Multiple Categories
With almost 30 categories now for glyphs in the Shortcuts app, there’s bound to be some overlap, and Apple doesn’t try to pigeonhole icons into one grouping. For example, if you need the sun glyph, you’ll find it listed under the Nature, Weather, and Keyboard categories. However, Apple also removed 100 glyphs and icon choices, though they may appear again in a future software update.
For a complete list of glyphs that show up in multiple categories, as well as all the missing glyphs, check out our guide on Shortcuts’ iOS 16.1 update.
11. Delete Apple Wallet
If you don’t use Apple Pay, Apple Cash, Apple Card, or store loyalty cards and tickets in Apple Wallet, you can finally delete the Apple Wallet app. Before, you could only remove it from the home screen, hiding it in the App Library, but now it can be gone for good.
12. Key Sharing in Wallet
If you ever get a digital key stored in your Wallet app, such as one for your car or hotel room, you can now share them with other iPhone users using Messages, WhatsApp, and other messaging apps. And people can also share their keys with you.
13. Savings Account for Apple Card
For those of you with an Apple Card, you can turn your Daily Cash into even more cash by depositing it into a high-yield savings account from the Wallet app. Goldman Sachs runs the accounts, and you can choose to have your Daily Cash automatically moved to it for immediate investment. Apple states that there are no fees, minimum deposits, or minimum balance requirements.
Once users set up their Savings account, all future Daily Cash received will be automatically deposited into it, or they can choose to continue to have it added to an Apple Cash card in Wallet. Users can change their Daily Cash destination at any time.
To expand Savings even further, users can also deposit additional funds into their Savings account through a linked bank account, or from their Apple Cash balance. Users can also withdraw funds at any time by transferring them to a linked bank account or to their Apple Cash card, with no fees. Once set up, Apple Card users can watch their rewards grow in Wallet through an easy-to-use Savings dashboard, which shows their account balance and interest accrued over time.
14. Lock Screen Customization Changes
Apple is making the lock screen and home screen customization less confusing on iOS 16.1. Now, whenever you hit the “Customize” button for a lock screen in the lock screen switcher, it will give you a choice between editing the lock screen or home screen wallpaper.
Previously, it would jump right to the lock screen editor when you tapped “Customize.” Then, when you were done editing it, you would get an option to “Set as Wallpaper Pair” or “Customize Home Screen.” You’ll still see those two options when adding a new lock screen.

Bitcoin and Other Cryptos Fall
Bitcoin sputtered even as it continued to flutter above $19,000 throughout Tuesday trading.
The largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization was recently trading at just over $19,300, down 1.1% in the last 24 hours. Ether followed a slightly more troublesome path, falling briefly below its recent $1,300 support before recovering later in the day. The second largest crypto in market value was recently changing hands just above $1,300, off 2% from Monday, same time.
Other major cryptos with market caps over $1 billion spent much of the day donning various shades of red with XRP and ADA recently down about 3%. UNI was up over 2%. The CoinDesk Market Index, a broad-based market index that measures the performance of a basket of cryptocurrencies, fell by 0.35% over the past 24 hours.
“Crypto is locked into consolidation mode and that will continue until investors are convinced of the risks of the Fed over-tightening and sending the economy into a severe recession are gone,” Edward Moya, senior market analyst for foreign exchange market maker Oanda wrote in an email.
Crypto prices countered equity markets, which rose for a second consecutive day with the tech-heavy Nasdaq, S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) all climbing about a percentage point amid encouraging third quarter earnings reports from several global brands, including Goldman Sachs, which said profits had dropped but surpassed targets. The investment bank has ramped up its interest in crypto over the past year.
In late-breaking crypto news venture capital giant Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) said that it is not on board with the founder’s vision to break up MakerDAO, one of crypto’s largest decentralized finance protocols, into smaller units. And three trade groups representing a wide swath of the crypto industry filed an amicus brief supporting a Grayscale Investments lawsuit against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for rejecting the firm’s proposal for a spot bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded fund.
Is bitcoin correlated with stocks?
Evidence Tuesday, as CoinDesk reported, suggests the assets’ close proximity throughout much of 2022 has diminished lately. According to IntoTheBlock, a crypto data and analysis firm, the 30-day correlation between bitcoin and the S&P 500 has fallen to 0.04 – basically nothing because a correlation near 0 suggests no price linkage whatsoever.
“It’s still too early to call for the end of the highly correlated regime, but investors are likely to get a better feel for this following the Microsoft, Google, Apple and Amazon earnings release next week,” said Lucas Outumuro, head of research at IntoTheBlock.

Last year was a Solana Summer. Will this year be the Aptos Autumn?
Solana launched last year at the height of a bull market when DeFi was just popping off. Ethereum was slow, expensive, and congested, making perfect market conditions for a speedy and low-cost alternative.
Aptos is launching at a time when the only concerns about the price of gas involve petroleum, not the virtual metaphor, according to on-chain data. The average price of gas for a transaction is now $27 versus over $100 from the end of October 2021.
But Solana, despite its speed, is lacking in something Ethereum has: trust. Data from DefiLlama shows that Solana only has around 1.7% of the Total Value Locked (TVL) for all of decentralized finance (DeFi).
Part of this is from the number of bad actors that have emerged on Solana.
Ethereum certainly has its share, but given the sheer scale of the protocol, it doesn’t have the same high profile. There’s Ian and Dylan Macalinao, who faked the size of the developer community on Solana by posing as 11 different developers. Then there’s Avraham Eisenberg, part of a group that drained $114 million from Solana-based DeFi platform Mango Markets last week before returning $67 million, not by hacking but by exploiting vulnerabilities in the market structure. All of the aforementioned have said that they have interest in moving over to Aptos.
Lots of attention is going to be paid to Aptos’ first day of trading, with traders pushing the token down by nearly 34% during its first hour of trading, according to CoinGecko data. Many aren’t happy about the tokenomics of the protocol, which has the majority of tokens sitting with VCs and core developers, who are eagerly taking to the derivatives contracts available from Binance to short the protocol.
But if there’s one thing that’s working as advertised, it’s the transactions per second on Aptos. Data from block explorers shows that the TPS has already surged past 25, and has been climbing in its first few hours. Solana is currently processing just over 4,000, but these are early days.
Let’s hope that the brand confusion with Apricot Finance, which also has the APT ticker, subsides.

ASML Reports Strong Q3, Says It Is Not Hit By U.S. China Sanctions – Reuters https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/asml-reports-strong-q3-says-it-is-not-hit-by-u-s-china-sanctions-reuters/
AMSTERDAM, Oct 19 (Reuters) – ASML Holding NV (ASML.AS), a key equipment supplier to computer chip manufacturers, on Wednesday reported better-than-expected third-quarter sales and profit and record new bookings, and said it does not expect a large impact from U.S. sanctions on China.
“There is uncertainty in the market due to a number of global macro-economic concerns including inflation, consumer confidence and the risk of a recession,” said CEO Peter Wennink in a statement.
Despite weakness in the end market for memory chips, however, “the overall demand for our systems continues to be strong. This resulted in record bookings in the third quarter of around 8.9 billion euros,” he said.

ASML, Europe’s largest technology company, makes lithography systems, large machines that cost up to $160 million each and are used by chipmakers such as Taiwan Semiconductor (5425.TWO) (TMSC), Samsung and Intel to create the circuitry of computer chips.
It is currently unable to keep up with demand from these companies as they seek to build new manufacturing plants, and with ASML’s backlog now at more than 30 billion euros, ASML is seeking to expand its own production capacity by 2025.
ASML’s third-quarter net profit was 1.7 billion euros ($1.7 billion), on sales of 5.8 billion euros, beating analyst forecasts of profit of 1.42 billion euros, on sales of 5.41 billion euros.
By comparison in the second quarter of 2022, ASML had income of 1.70 billion euros on sales of 5.78 billion euros.
The United States earlier this month issued sweeping new restrictions on exporting semiconductors to China.
ASML has been restricted by the Dutch government in shipping its best machines to China, due to U.S. diplomatic influence, since 2019. However, it still sells slightly older machines in China, where it had 16% of sales in 2021.
ASML said the impact of the new U.S. regulations appears limited given that it is a European company with few U.S. parts used in its machines.
“We can continue to ship non-EUV (less advanced) lithography tools out of Europe to China,” the company said.
However, Chinese customers may have difficulty obtaining other parts they need, the company said. ASML noted that since it cannot keep up with orders in general at the present, if orders for tools from China slow, it could sell them elsewhere.

Patagonia Condor Repopulation Drive Faces Wind Farm Threat The Indian Express
Patagonia Condor Repopulation Drive Faces Wind Farm Threat – The Indian Express https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/patagonia-condor-repopulation-drive-faces-wind-farm-threat-the-indian-express/
It was a sunny morning when about 200 people trudged up a hill in Argentina’s southern Patagonia region with a singular mission: free two Andean condors that had been born in captivity. The emotion in the air was palpable as conservationists got ready for a moment that so many had been working toward for months. But the joyous moment was also bittersweet.
Preliminary plans for a massive wind farm that could be located in the Somuncura Plateau to feed a green hydrogen project is putting at risk a three-decade-long effort to repopulate Patagonia’s Atlantic coast with a bird that is classified as vulnerable to extinction by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature. While members of the Mapuche, the largest Indigenous group in the area, played traditional instruments, and children threw condor feathers into the air that symbolized their good wishes for the newly liberated birds, an eerie silence engulfed the mountain in Sierra Paileman in Rio Negro province as researchers opened the cages where the two specimens of the world’s largest flying bird were kept.
Huasi (meaning home in Quechua) seemed born for this moment. As soon as the cage opened, he spread his wings and took off without a moment’s hesitation. Yastay (meaning god that is protector of birds) appeared cautious, uncertain of the wide open Patagonia skies after spending his first two years in captivity, and it took him around an hour before taking off. People hugged while researchers sprang into action and started tracking the birds.
In the back of their minds were latent worries about what the potential for new wind farms in the area could mean for the lives of these newly released birds.Conservationists fear the birds inevitably would collide with the rotating blades of the turbines and be killed. In neighboring Chile, an environmental impact study for a planned wind farm with 65 windmills concluded that as many as four of the rare condors could collide with the massive structures yearly. Environmental authorities rejected the project last year.
“Why are we freeing two? We generally free more than two,” Vanesa Astore, executive director of the Andean Condor Conservation Program, said. “We’re at like a maintenance level now.”Researchers had to release Huasi and Yastay now or risk that they would have to remain in captivity for the rest of their lives, which can range from 70 to 80 years, Astore explained, noting condors can only adapt to the outside world if they are released before their third birthday.
The current uncertainty regarding the future of the wind farm that would be built by Australian firm Fortescue Future Industries has not only put conservationists on alert but has prompted them to slow the pace of reproduction and release of the Andean condors even as the company insists it has no plans to set up shop in the Somuncura Plateau.
Condors are notoriously slow breeders that only reach sexual maturity at 9 years old and have an offspring every three years, but researchers have found ways to speed that up by removing eggs from pairs in captivity to incubate artificially. When the egg is removed, the pair will then produce another egg within a month, which they will raise while the first one is raised by humans with the help of latex puppets meant to simulate their parents and help them recognize members of their own species.
That strategy allow researchers to “increase reproductive capacity by six times,” said Luis Jacome, the head of the Andean Condor Conservation Program. That effort is now on pause.“We aren’t maximizing because I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Astore explained. Since the conservation program started 30 years ago, 81 chicks have been born in captivity, 370 condors have been rehabilitated and 230 freed across South America, including Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile and Bolivia. Sixty-six of those have been released along Patagonia’s Atlantic coast, where the bird was nowhere to be seen at the turn of the century even though Charles Darwin had written in the early 1800s about the presence of the large birds in the region.
The Andean condor has now made a comeback, and for many locals that has a spiritual resonance.“The condor flies very high, so our elders used to say that the condor could take a message to those who are no longer here,” said Doris Canumil, 59, a Mapuche who took part in the ceremonies for the liberation of the condors. While they celebrate the success of the program, conservationists worry it could all be erased.
“These birds that we’ve liberated, that once again joined the mountain range with the sea through their flight, that have matured and had their own offspring that live and fly here in this place, they will simply die in the blades of the windmills,” Jacome said. “So the condor would once again become extinct in the Atlantic coast.”
Conservationists found out about the proposed wind farm through the media and alarm bells immediately went off. Last year, Fortescue unveiled a plan to invest $8.4 billion over a decade in a project to produce green hydrogen for export in what the government touted as the largest international investment in Argentina over the past two decades. In order to qualify as green, the hydrogen must be produced using renewable power, and that is where the windmill farm would come in, taking advantage of the strong, reliable winds of Patagonia.
The government of President Alberto Fernández celebrated the project, saying it would create 15,000 direct jobs and somewhere between 40,000 and 50,000 indirect jobs. Yet neither the company nor the provincial government of Rio Negro had carried out an environmental impact study before unveiling the project. For now at least, Jacome said, the “only thing green are the dollars” attached to the project.“We’re putting the cart before the horse,” Jacome said. “We need to have environmental impact studies that demonstrate what is going to be done, how many windmills, where they will be placed.”
Fortescue agrees and says it “is committed to evaluating the social, environmental, engineering, and economic considerations before committing to the development” of any project. The Australian firm said in a statement that any pre-development study will include consultations with local organizations to “guarantee the protection of the local species such as the Andean Condor.”
Following questions about the project, Fortescue has decided to not measure winds at the Somuncura Plateau until the province finishes its environmental plan and will instead explore “other areas of interest within lands near Sierra Grande and the Province of Chubut,” the company said. On Oct. 11, the Rio Negro provincial government said Fortescue launched a 12-month effort to analyze the environmental and social impacts of the project.Provincial officials see the number of jobs attached to the project as key.
“On the one hand, we have to preserve and take care of our fauna,” Daniel Sanguinetti, Rio Negro’s planning and sustainable development secretary, said. But the government also must “promote the development of the 750,000 Rio Negro citizens who currently live (here) and generate sources of production and genuine work for all of them.”
Sanguinetti added it was important “not to get carried away by different situations that supposedly would happen at some time in the future when all of this would have been implemented, when the reality is that the project is in its initial phases.”For those who have made repopulating the Patagonia coast with the condor their life’s work, the discussions over the future of the project are deeply personal. “We feel a little bit like parents,” said Catalina Rostagno, who moved to the base camp in Rio Negro two and a half months ago for the process of liberating Huasi and Yastay. “The condor is a reflection of me.”
Yakima County Auditors Office Works To Increase Latino Voter Turnout Through Education NBC Right Now
Yakima County Auditor’s Office Works To Increase Latino Voter Turnout Through Education – NBC Right Now https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/yakima-county-auditors-office-works-to-increase-latino-voter-turnout-through-education-nbc-right-now/
YAKIMA COUNTY – Election Day is just around the corner and Yakima County continues to work to increase Latino voter turnout by offering voting services in Spanish and educating people about the voting process.
When you turn in your ballot either by mail or drop box, it ends up in the auditor’s office. There, staff check if your ballot is valid, verify your signature and put it into a machine that counts the vote.
Yakima County Auditor Charles Ross said all of his staff have several years of experience working election nights.
“I have no doubt when we count the ballots that the results will be perfect or near perfect,” Ross said.
One occasion where your vote may not be counted is if your signature cannot be verified. Right now, the Secretary of State is working on investigating times when signatures were not verified in past elections and whether discrimination against people with Spanish names took place.
The investigation focuses on multiple counties across Washington state. So far, the Secretary of State’s Office found 74% of rejected votes were due to signatures that were not verified.
In Benton County, you were three times more likely to have your signature rejected if you have a Spanish last name. In Yakima County, it was four times more likely.
Ross said he doesn’t believe ballot discrimination happens in Yakima County because his staff reaches out to voters immediately if there is a problem with their ballot. He added Yakima County continues to work to increase Latino voter participation in elections.
According to the Bilingual Program Analyst Martha Jiménez, Latino voter turnout is low. During the August primary elections only 12% of registered Latino voters participated. She said offering services in Spanish for voters is one way to help increase this.
The auditor’s office provides ballot information in both languages and bilingual staff are available to answer any questions.
On Election Day, they will also have a help center at the Neighborhood Health Clinic in Sunnyside starting at 8:00 a.m.
Jiménez said it is important to offer these services to motivate more Latinos to vote.
“In order to make changes so that your voice is heard, it is important that you exercise your right to vote,” Jimenez said.
According to Jimenez, this year an increase in Latino voters is expected.
“We have noticed an increase in registrations of people with a Spanish name,” said Jiménez.
She said this could be because generally participation increases during mid-term elections or because of the recent redistricting.
If you want to vote and have not registered, you can do so at votewa.gov or contact the auditor’s office to do so in person. You can register in person to vote through election day.

When you think about going on vacation, do you picture yourself laying out on a beach? According to Travel + Leisure, Florida, Panama, Mexico, and Greece are all home to beautiful beaches and are popular and affordable vacation spots.
Whether you’re visiting for a romantic getaway, a solo escape, or a trip with friends, a beach vacation is typically always a good time because it’s easy to wind down and relax. There’s nothing bustling and rushed at the beach; it’s a stark contrast to a busy office environment. When the water is clear and the sand is soft, the beach feels even more magical.
Something else that makes a beach trip fun is being able to wear your favorite beachwear looks. Obviously a swimsuit is a given, but what else are you going to wear to give off beach vibes? According to Mood Designer Fabrics, fashion is all about keeping up with ever-changing trends and knowing what’s popular at any given moment; it can be fickle, but that’s what makes it so fun. Here are some fabulously trendy pieces you can add to your beachy look.
Criss-cross crop top
Red Umbrella and Donkey/Shutterstock
There’s something very flirty and fun about wearing a crop top. And criss-cross crop tops up the sultry factor because they reveal even more skin, which is perfect for the beach. Look to La’Mazi on Instagram for style inspo. The brand’s criss-cross crop tops are just revealing enough without being vulgar.
Off-the-shoulder top
Roman Samborskyi/Shutterstock
If you’re wearing a bandeau-style bikini, an off-the-shoulder top or dress can make a cute cover-up. The style is figure-flattering and breezy, as evidenced by options from UK-based brand Lindsay Brown on Instagram. This style can really look great on anyone.
Off-the-shoulder tops can also be paired with jean shorts, mini skirts, or flowy maxi skirts for plenty of outfit variation.
Mini skirt
Roman Samborskyi/Shutterstock
Mini skirts show off your legs in a fun and flirty way and are perfect for warm beach days. You can easily throw on a bikini under your mini and be on your way. Another plus about mini skirts is that they also come in a huge assortment of colors and patterns, like the ones designed by Debbie Dannheisser Threads on Instagram.
Crochet crop top
Alena Ozerova/Shutterstock
There’s something very bohemian about a crochet crop top and it would definitely make a statement. Look to Spirit + Thread on Instagram for styling ideas. The brand’s orange crochet crop top is absolutely perfect for a trip to the beach.
The best part about wearing a crochet crop top is that you can accessorize it with stunning boho-style jewelry, such as feathery earrings and necklaces, and stacked turquoise bracelets and rings.
Backless romper
Comparable to sundresses, but way more unexpected, backless rompers are great for beach days. While wearing one, you can show off your back in a way that’s both chic and sexy, and catch some sun. Influencer @susyydarling_ on totally rocks the look on Instagram. Pair your romper with your bikini, and cute shoes and jewelry.
Cut-out dress
Vladimir Sukhachev/Shutterstock
Cut-out dresses are sexy and bring the drama. Consider one the next time you’re enjoying a warm, summer beach day. Just as trendy as cut-out crop tops, cut-out dresses give the illusion of concealing more of your stomach, hips, and legs. Just slightly, though. Options from LadyTee Collection LLC on Instagram are giving total vacay vibes.
Short sundress
Sundresses come in all shapes and sizes, but short sundresses are a top-of-the-line choice when it comes to the perfect beach day attire. Influencer Isabela shares plenty of sundress styles on Instagram for her 220K+ followers. Her red sundress, shown above, had material that cinched in the stomach area to create the appearance of a flawlessly snatched waist. She accessorized it with a simple necklace.
Ripped jean shorts
fitzcrittle/Shutterstock
It’s common to see people wearing denim shorts to the beach. But when these denim shorts are a bit ripped and rugged, they often appear even trendier than basic jean shorts. This acid wash pair shown by South + Main Boutique on Instagram would look great with swimsuits or tees.
Sleeveless vest
G Allen Penton/Shutterstock
A sleeveless vest might be an unexpected piece of clothing to add over a bikini before your next trip to the beach, but it works, trust us. Look for colorful prints and light fabrics like linen or crochet. This option from The Tickled Pink Boutique on Instagram would be perfect. And because your arms and shoulders won’t be covered by any fabric, they’ll be free to catch some sun as soon as you leave the car. Just don’t forget the sunblock.
Ruffle-trim shorts
Fab_1/Shutterstock
When you’re dressed in clothing that makes you feel good on the outside, you generally start feeling good on the inside out to match that vibe. And fun and flirty ruffle-trim shorts can definitely put you in a good mood. Like this blush pair by Saskia featured on Instagram, they also look great on the beach and are comfortable to throw on over your swimsuit.
Belted romper
Victoria Chudinova/Shutterstock
Rompers look cute when worn to picnics and park dates, but they also look fabulous when worn to the beach. The belt helps to define your waistline and the loose fabric is comfortable and will keep you cool when temps rise. We’re loving this light and airy look from Cocowillow on Instagram.
Loose shawl
Juice Flair/Shutterstock
Want to feel covered up at the beach while still having the ability to show off some skin at times? Look no further than a fashionable shawl to do the trick. Shawls complete any beach day look, and are available in many different color combinations and fabric weights. Mungo’s beach shawls, as featured on Instagram, come in gorgeous prints and are versatile enough to be used as towels.
Maxi dress
Edward Berthelot/Getty Images
One thing that makes maxi dresses great to wear to the beach is the way they flow with the wind to give off a laidback, breezy vibe. Maxi dresses are long and loose enough to be flattering on all body types, so feel encouraged to rock one confidently. This colorful option from S/W/F on Instagram just screams beach day.
T-shirt dress
Seeing a T-shirt-turned-dress on someone like influencer Becciabey on Instagram is your inspiration to try out this cute style for a day at the beach. T-shirt dresses are known to be casual and fun, which means you never look like you’re trying too hard when you pull one of these out of your closet. And using an actual tee as your dress is fashion innovation at its best.
Tennis skirt
There are no laws written in any rule books stating that tennis skirts are reserved only for tennis courts. Influencer Natalie King makes her own personal tennis skirt look gorgeous on Instagram. And you can totally adapt the look for a day of fun in the sun. Just add a swimsuit and water!
Cargo skirt
Edward Berthelot/Getty Images
Cargo skirts are all the rage in the world of fashion these days. When people think of cargo material, they typically think of cargo shorts or pants, but skirts deserve just as much love, especially if you choose to wear them at the beach. On Instagram, Fntsyangels noted a few iconic examples of cargo skirts and the different ways they can be styled. Wearing them with a bikini is definitely the way to go.
Fishnet dress
Edward Berthelot/Getty Images
Since fishnet dresses cover you up without actually covering you up, they create a very flirty and fun illusion. According to Hidden Fashion on Instagram, fishnet dresses make staying home look good, but dresses this bold don’t deserve to be hidden away inside your house. A great place to rock one of these would be at the beach so that it reveals the details and color of your swimsuit underneath.
V-neck tank top
Edward Berthelot/Getty Images
A v-neck tank top shows off your arms, shoulders, chest, and back, while still giving your midsection some coverage. Influencer Kiarra Brooke’s v-neck tank top on Instagram proves that this style is a total winner. Try wearing a simple black or white v-neck tank top to the beach with a colorful bikini. It will totally pop.
Oversized button-up
When Instagram model Mecah May Wirht opened up on Instagram about wearing oversized button-ups during her pregnancy, she started a fashion movement. Oversized button-ups aren’t just reserved for women who are expecting a baby, though. They can be worn for a fun beach day since they are so easy to throw on and pull off, and very forgiving. The casual comfort and style of an oversized button-up are undeniable.
Floral prints
Roman Samborskyi/Shutterstock
Most fashion lovers who care about keeping up with trends know that beachwear is all about floral print. Floral print belongs on anything and everything you might choose to wear to the beach, from accessories and cover-ups to shoes and swimsuits, just like this adorable bikini from Kamoni on Instagram. When you wear a floral print to the beach, you’re embodying a sense of nature’s beauty.

Asia Stocks Mixed After Wall St Rises On Corporate Profits – 69News WFMZ-TV https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/asia-stocks-mixed-after-wall-st-rises-on-corporate-profits-69news-wfmz-tv/
BEIJING (AP) — Asian stock markets were mixed Wednesday after Wall Street rose on strong corporate profit reports.
Tokyo advanced while Shanghai and Hong Kong declined. The yen stayed near a two-decade low near 149 to the dollar. Oil prices gained.
Wall Street’s benchmark S&P 500 index rose 1.1% on Tuesday after investment bank Goldman Sachs, military contractor Lockheed Martin and others reported strong results.
Market sentiment is “looking positive so far amid forecast-beating earnings,” said Anderson Alves of ActivTrades in a report.
The profit reports helped at least temporarily offset investor worries that repeated interest rate hikes by U.S., European and Asian central banks to control inflation that is at multi-decade highs might tip the global economy into recession.
That concern has helped to drag U.S. stocks into a bear market, or a decline of more than 20% by the S&P 500 from its January high.
The Nikkei 225 in Tokyo gained 0.7% to 27,353.87 while the Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.3% to 3,072.85. The Hang Seng in Hong Kong lost 0.9% to 16,766.79.
The Kospi in Seoul added less than 0.1% to 2,251.88 and Sydney’s S&P-ASX 200 advanced 0.4% to 6,807.80. New Zealand and Southeast Asian markets advanced.
On Wednesday, the S&P 500 gained 3,719.98 as 90% of the stocks in the index rose.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.1% to close at 30,523.80. The Nasdaq composite advanced 0.9% to 10,772.40.
With no major economic data releases planned this week, investors focused on corporate earnings.
Goldman Sachs rose 2.3%, which helped to lift other lenders. Lockheed Martin jumped 8.7%, giving other military-related stocks a boost. General Dynamics rose 3.8%, Northrop Grumman gained 6.7% and Raytheon Technologies added 3.4%.
Johnson & Johnson slipped 0.3% after reporting solid financial result s but a narrowed forecast as it deals with a strong dollar cutting into sales outside the United States.
American Airlines, Union Pacific and American Express also report results this week.
In energy markets, benchmark U.S. crude rose 99 cents to $83.06 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude, the price basis for international oil trading, advanced 66 cents to $90.69 per barrel in London.
The dollar eased to 149.16 yen from Tuesday’s 149.21 yen. The euro rose to 98.52 cents from 98.50 cents.

Pocono Counties Divided Among Multiple Senatorial Districts Pocono Record
Pocono Counties Divided Among Multiple Senatorial Districts – Pocono Record https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/pocono-counties-divided-among-multiple-senatorial-districts-pocono-record/
For the first time in at least a decade, Wayne County is split between two districts in the State Senate. Voters in southwestern Wayne County will cast votes alongside neighboring Monroe and Lackawanna Countians as part of the 40th Pennsylvania Senatorial Legislative District. The rest of Wayne County remains within the 20th alongside Pike, Luzerne, Wyoming and Susquehanna Counties.
Three Wayne County boroughs and nine municipalities are affected by the change. These include Bethany, Honesdale and Waymart Boroughs, as well as Canaan, South Canaan, Texas, Cherry Ridge, Lake Salem, Sterling, Dreher and Lehigh Townships.
In terms of population, this shift represents over half of Wayne County’s residents—roughly 54 percent and more than 27,000 people—and the County seat changing districts.
According to the 2020 Census, Lake Township, Honesdale Borough and Salem Township are Wayne County’s three most populated municipalities, each containing over 4,000 residents. Including these three municipalities, six of Wayne County’s 10 most populated municipalities are now within the 40th Senatorial District.

New faces in the newly-drawn 40th District
The 40th Senatorial District incumbent— Republican, Mario Scavello— is stepping down this year, leaving the position open for new candidates. Stepping up to the plate on the Republican ticket is Pennsylvania House Representative Rosemary Brown.
Brown currently serves as the PA House Representative for the 189th district, covering parts of Pike and Monroe Counties. She has served in this capacity since 2010.
Primary concerns for Brown’s political career include facets of responsible good government. These include an economic focus on job creation and tax reform to attract new businesses to Pa., as well as healthcare concerns such as the opioid crisis, Lyme Disease and tick-borne illness. Brown’s focus has also centered on quality-of-life matters such as hands-free cellphone use and private community living legislation, as well as fair funding for local school districts to alleviate property tax burdens.
Running against Brown on the Democratic ticket is Stroud Township Supervisor, Jennifer Shukaitis.
The township has not seen a tax increase in a decade. While serving as supervisor, Shukaitis oversaw local improvements to open space and infrastructure.
Shukaitis is likewise concerned with funding schools appropriately while not overburdening taxpayers. Maintaining clean water and a healthy community are goals of her campaign, as is encouraging economic development and creation of jobs which suit the area’s cost of living.
Other public policy goals for Shukaitis include access to affordable healthcare, road and bridge improvements, broadband expansion and preserving natural resources.
Battle of the Bakers in the 20th
The 20th Senatorial District is a bout of two Bakers. Republican incumbent, Senator Lisa Baker, looks to retain her seat against challenging Democrat, Jackie Baker.
Senator Baker has served PA’s 20th Legislative Senate District, consisting of Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming Counties, since 2006.
In her four terms to date, L. Baker has helped secure funding for infrastructure updates to sewar and water systems, transportation, and cooperative efforts between various levels of government.
Other matters of importance for L. Baker have included funding for veterans programming, responsible natural gas drilling, emergency services and criminal justice.
Jackie Baker’s top priorities include worker protection and economic recovery, coupled with tax reform. She is also focusing her campaign on affordable healthcare for all and preserving the environment. She hopes to invest in fixing infrastructure such as roads and broadband, as well funding public education and childcare.

Correspondent photo / Robert Hayes Poland senior Sarah Forsyth kills the ball over a pair of Cardinal Mooney defenders during the Bulldogs’ 3-0 sweep of the Cardinals at Lakeview High School.
CORTLAND — The start of tournament play always marks the dawn of a new season. Cardinal Mooney came into Monday evening looking to break a losing skid, while Poland anticipated its first taste of Division III playoff action.
Taking it one moment at a time was the Bulldogs’ approach as they enjoyed a 3-0 victory over the Cardinals in straight sets at Lakeview High School.
“Just one game at a time, one point at a time moving on from there,” said Poland coach Aleah Diamond. “It’s definitely something that we gotta work on, to stop those long runs, but just trying to play the volleyball, trusting your teammates, knowing who you have on the court around you.
“Being that we have nine seniors, I have a lot of trust in them to figure it out as well, so it’s helpful on the court.”
The Bulldogs previously competed in the Division II tournament, but now find themselves participating in the Division III Orwell district.
Mooney battled throughout the first set, each team trading blows to keep it within a point or two.
Poland found a way to close out the final couple of points to earn the set victory, but it was more about keeping composure than anything.
“I think we just realized that we all want to play. We realized that we’re all seniors pretty much, and this would be the end of it, so we all came together and realized we want this more,” said senior Morgan Bailey. “We realized we needed to communicate more to bring up the energy more, and just kinda collectively do our jobs.”
Mooney (8-14) trailed by several points late in the second set, eventually tying the game at 22.
“That’s obviously a little nerve-wrecking seeing them come up and have the energy, but I think we just had a timeout, realized we got to shut it out down, and we just came out there and knew what to do,” Bailey said.
Again, the Bulldogs just needed to close out when needed to keep their edge on the scoreboard, winning the game 25-23, following their 26-24 victory in the first game.
Poland (11-9) eventually prevailed in the third set, 26-24, earning a first-round victory, and its fifth straight-sets victory of the season.
Senior Sarah Forsyth led the Bulldogs with 12 kills. Bailey added 13 assists and a pair of aces. Fellow seniors Madelyn Ray tallied 10 digs, while Katie McDonald earned four blocks.
The Cardinals graduate five seniors: Maria Fire, Abby Mitchell, Marissa Bowman, Mara Blasko, and Addison Stacy. Coach Toni Chahine felt that her team played a tough match, but was happy to have coached the group of outgoing seniors.
“I feel like they played well. We were always down most of the time in the sets, but they always rallied and fought back, but we just couldn’t finish it tonight,” Chahine said. “The goal for the offseason is to get people touching the ball year-round. Volleyball has amplified in our area. It’s gotten so competitive, and we can’t get by on being athletic anymore, so our girls need to play club and get more reps in the offseason so we can be a better team.”
Meanwhile, Poland advances to play fourth-seeded Lakeview on Thursday at Crestview High School, with a 7:30 p.m. start in the sectional finals.

5G Enables Metaverse Revolution As 510m Consumers Sign Up Guardian Nigeria
5G Enables Metaverse Revolution As 510m Consumers Sign Up – Guardian Nigeria https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/5g-enables-metaverse-revolution-as-510m-consumers-sign-up-guardian-nigeria/
As 5G uptake in many parts of the world bridges the milestone from early to mass adoption, major new Ericsson research – the industry’s global study underlines consumers’ growing commitment to the new technology and their expectations on next-generation uses cases.
Called “5G: The Next Wave,” the Ericsson ConsumerLab report addresses the impact 5G has had on early adopter consumers since launching in various countries, as well as gauging the intention of non-5G subscribers to take up the technology – and their related expectations.
The report forecasts that at least 30 per cent of smartphone users intend to take up a 5G subscription within the next year.
The mix of Ericsson tracking data covering 5G launches since 2019, and the new consumer survey, has enabled Ericsson ConsumerLab to identify six key trends impacting the next wave of 5G adoption.
The trends are that 5G adoption is inflation resilient. According to it, at least 510 million consumers across 37 markets are likely to take up 5G in 2023.
Secondly, there is the next wave of users, who are demanding. Ericsson said the next wave of 5G users has high expectations of the performance of the technology, especially network coverage, compared to early adopters — who care about new innovative services enabled by 5G.
Ericsson observed thirdly that perceived 5G availability is emerging as the new satisfaction benchmark among consumers. It noted that geographical coverage, indoor/outdoor coverage, and congregation hot-spot coverage are more important to building a user perception than population coverage.
Fourtly, 5G is pushing up the usage of enhanced video and augmented reality. The Swedish firm said over the past two years, time spent on AR apps by 5G users has doubled to two hours per week.
Ericsson is also of the view that 5G monetisation models are expected to evolve. According to it, six in 10 consumers expect 5G offerings to move beyond more data volume and speeds to on-demand tailored network capabilities for specific needs.
On the sixth key trend, 5G adoption is setting the path to the metaverse. Ericsson claimed that 5G users on average are already spending one hour more per week on metaverse-related services than 4G users. They also expect two hours of more video content will be consumed weekly on mobile devices, 1.5 hours of which will be on AR/VR glasses by 2025.
Largely, the report also addresses the speed of mainstream 5G adoption, whether consumer demands are being met, and 5G-related changes in smartphone behaviour – and their impact on network traffic.
More than 49,000 consumers in 37 countries were interviewed in the research – the largest global 5G-related consumer survey in the industry to date and the largest consumer survey conducted by Ericsson on any topic. The survey scope is representative of the opinions of about 1.7 billion consumers worldwide, including 430 million 5G subscribers.
Head of Ericsson ConsumerLab, Jasmeet Singh Sethi, said: “The scale of the research gives us an authentic insight into consumers’ views and attitudes to 5G. The report showed that the next wave of potential 5G users has different expectations from the technology compared to early adopters. Overall, consumers see engaging with 5G as an essential part of their future lifestyles.”
He added: “It is interesting to note that 5G is emerging as an important enabler for early adopters to embrace metaverse-related services, such as socializing, playing and buying digital items in interactive 3D virtual gaming platforms. The amount of time spent on augmented reality apps by 5G users has also doubled over the past two years, compared to 4G users.
How To Watch Apple TV On Any Android Phone Or Tablet Gadget Hacks
How To Watch Apple TV+ On Any Android Phone Or Tablet – Gadget Hacks https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/how-to-watch-apple-tv-on-any-android-phone-or-tablet-gadget-hacks/
With the prestige appeal of its original programming and relatively low subscription price, Apple TV+ is one of the more appealing streaming options out there — and you don’t need an Apple device to subscribe and watch movies, TV shows, sports, and other Apple TV+ content.
The addition of Friday Night Baseball, where Apple secured exclusive broadcast rights to two Major League Baseball games every Friday, made the service appointment viewing for baseball fans this past season. And award-winning Apple TV+ Originals like “Ted Lasso,” “Severance,” “The Morning Show,” “CODA,” and “For All Mankind.”
While an Apple TV app is available for Android TV devices, you’ll have to go a different route on your regular Android smartphone or tablet. The workaround requires an Apple ID login and an active Apple TV+ subscription. If you don’t have either, you can go to tv.apple.com to create an account and sign up.
Don’t Miss: Get iPhone’s Dynamic Island on Your Android Phone for Quick Access to Notifications, Alerts, and Activities
Step 1: Open Your Browser
Fire up your preferred web browser, navigate to the tv.apple.com website, and tap the “Sign In” button at the top. Apple’s website specifically mentions Chrome and Firefox browsers, but we’ve verified that it works in other browsers too.
Step 2: Log in with Your Apple ID
First, you’ll be prompted to enter your Apple ID, then your password.
With two-factor authentication enabled, you’ll need to enter a verification code. If you have a trusted Apple device, the code should appear on it, but you can tap “Didn’t get a verification code?” if you don’t have access to it right now. For those of you who never had an Apple device, Apple should send an SMS or call to your trusted phone number with the verification code.
After entering your 2FA verification code, tap “Trust” when asked to trust your browser — but only if it’s your Android device — to avoid verifying your account next time.
Step 3: Start Watching
You’re in! Scroll down the screen or swipe right on the rows of thumbnails until you find what you want to watch. Or tap the blue hamburger menu at the left to search.
After your tap your selection, the video will load up immediately. To watch in landscape view, flip your device. To enter full-screen mode, double-tap the screen. Finally, if you can swipe up to get to your device, you’ll be able to continue watching your program with picture-in-picture (assuming your device has Android 8.0 or above).

Aptos Token Price Prediction Retail Dumped On By Crypto VCs? Cryptonews
Aptos Token Price Prediction – Retail Dumped On By Crypto VCs? – Cryptonews https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/aptos-token-price-prediction-retail-dumped-on-by-crypto-vcs-cryptonews/
The Aptos (APT) price crashed on its listing day, as predicted by many of the best crypto traders on Twitter.
Aptos token, dubbed a ‘Solana killer’ capable of a higher tps, is one of the most trending cryptocurrency assets and airdrops this week, on 15,170 watchlists on CoinMarketCap already having just been added today.
Aptos Price Prediction
Aptos token’s fully diluted market cap is $7 billion at a $7 token price, based on its 1 billion total supply.
Some top crypto Twitter accounts consider that overvalued, including @kobratrading who has 20,000 followers and has called APT token a ‘ponzi’.
Yesterday one of the most popular crypto influencers and UpOnly podcast host @cobie – who has 743,000 followers – criticized major cryptocurrency exchanges including FTX and Binance for listing Aptos ‘without any tokenomics transparency at all‘.
Gainzy (@gainzy) tweeted to his 160,000 followers today:
‘Disastrous aptos launch. I weep for inexperienced discretionary traders. You’re the yield. We all know how this aptos launch ends. Retail gets rinsed, big firms hedge exposure, GCR shows a top short with 6M+ PnL. Just a matter of time.
PoS Layer 1 blockchain Aptos attracted crypto venture capital investors including a16z and Jump Capital, with a $150 million series A round.
However ‘VC coins’ have come under increasing criticism this year for deep corrections once tradeable exchanges after reaching an over inflated FDV.
Hsaka (@Hsakatrades) yesterday tweeted to his 381,000 followers that the Aptos project was a cash grab.
Aptos token was listed at 01:00 UTC on Binance, Coinbase, Huobi, FTX, MEXC, OKX and other crypto exchanges.
After its initial listing pump – wicking as high as $100 on Binance and around $17 on most other platforms – the APT price quickly retraced to the $6 – $7 range.
