From there, Josh Williams punched it in to finally get LSU on the board. 20-7 with 3:05 left in the half. Huge drive and a particularly huge throw from Daniels. Believe it or not, LSU has an edge in total yards now after that 96-yard drive. Pinned Pinned LSU driving The Tigers are moving the football yet again and gaining some momentum with the help of a couple Tennessee penalties. Brian Kelly is mad about something on the sideline, however. Huge sequence here for LSU since Tennessee gets the ball to start the second half. Pinned Tennessee stalls After picking up a big fourth down conversion in LSU territory, Tennessee’s high-powered attack suddenly stalled with three consecutive incompletions. Uncharacteristic, but a huge stop for the Tigers, who will take over inside their own 5-yard line trailing 20-0 with 8:19 left in the first half. Pinned Fourth down Fourth downs haven’t been kind to LSU so far in this game, and now it’s the Tigers’ defense facing a big one as the Volunteers call timeout to discuss a fourth-and-2 from LSU’s 43. Tigers just came up with a huge sack from Greg Brooks Jr. on third down, but the Vols were lucky that Hooker’s fumble on the play was scooped up by running back Dylan Sampson, who ran it for a gain of two yards. Update: Tennesse converts with a shovel pass Pinned Pinned Another blunder LSU’s offense is moving the football pretty well, but the Tigers can’t stop hurting themselves once they get in position to score. Jayden Daniels just took a sack that pushed the Tigers out of field goal range and into a fourth-and-12. Even an incompletion there would have made going for it somewhat practical. Instead, it leads to a punt that results in a touchback. Volunteers get it back leading 20-0. Pinned Pinned Garrett Dellinger down LSU is already without its starting left tackle today and just had another offensive lineman, Garrett Dellinger, helped off the field. The Tigers are struggling in the run game as it is and may be challenged even more depending on the severity of Dellinger’s issue. Pinned Pinned Momentum swing LSU is now 0-for-2 on fourth-down conversion attempts after the Vols stuff a fourth-and-1 run attempt near midfield. Nowhere to go for Josh Williams, and the Volunteers IMMEDIATELY strike. What a momentum swing as Hendon Hooker hits Jaylin Hyatt down the left sideline for a 45-yard touchdown strike to make it 20-0. Hyatt showed serious speed on that one. LSU is in deep trouble here. Pinned Pinned Pinned First quarter Tennessee leads 13-0 entering the second quarter, but LSU should feel good about where it stands — all things considered. The Tigers had just about everything go wrong that possibly could but are on the cusp of being down just 13-7 if they can finish this promising drive with a touchdown. Seems like they are going out of their way to get Kayshon Boutte involved. Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Another field goal Give the LSU defense credit, because the Tigers have now forced consecutive field goals. It’s 13-0 Tennessee now after a 68-yard drive that stalled out on the edge of the red zone. Tigers are fortunate to be down just two possessions after almost everything that has gone wrong for them at this point. Pinned Pinned Massive stand Kayshon Boutte reached the football out to try and reach the sticks on a fourth-and-4 play, but he was ruled down short of the marker and a replay confirmed the call. Tigers had a chip shot field goal in the bag, but Brian Kelly opted to go for it. The gamble backfires and Tennessee takes over leading 10-0. Pinned Pinned Pinned Nice drive LSU convers a third-and-13 to keep its second drive of the game alive. Tigers in Tennessee territory and gaining some confidence here as the Volunteers take a timeout to avoid being penalized for having too many men on the field. PTSD for Tennessee fans reflecting on the 2010 loss at Tiger Stadium. Pinned Pinned Nice stand LSU’s defense holds after another special teams disaster, forcing a 35-yard Tennessee field goal. 10-0 Vols, but that’s nice a boost for the Tigers after a horrific start. Vols had a second-and-2 but were stuffed on consecutive running plays. Looked like Josh Heupel considered going for it before opting for the FG. Pinned Pinned Pinned Boutte drop Jayden Daniels unleashed a missile over the middle toward Kayshon Boutte on third-and-3, but Boutte couldn’t bring it down. Throw was slightly behind him, but still a ball that you would expect a projected first-rounder to catch. Dee Williams returns the punt 58 yards, setting the Vols up with another short field. Metaverse In Education A Blessing Or A Curse? The Philly Caller
Metaverse In Education A Blessing Or A Curse? The Philly Caller
Metaverse In Education – A Blessing Or A Curse? – The Philly Caller https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/metaverse-in-education-a-blessing-or-a-curse-the-philly-caller/ PHILADELPHIA – The use of the Metaverse in education has been a hot topic for some time now. Many educators are concerned about the negative aspects of using virtual worlds as learning tools. However, there are several ways to use this technology effectively for educational purposes. One way is to use avatars in the metaverse. Metaverse The Metaverse in education is a promising tool, but it poses several challenges.  Technology may be too powerful and lead to addiction, especially among children. Students may sometimes spend dozens of hours per week in the virtual world and neglect the real world. As such, educators must consider ways to balance the use of Metaverse with real-world accessibility and learning opportunities for all students. Research on the Metaverse in education is divided into three waves: Social aspects, technology-mediated presence, and simulation. The latter wave explores the educational potential of immersive and virtual technologies. Virtual worlds Virtual worlds are transforming the way we learn. Students are immersed in a digital simulation, whether in the classroom or on the go. This can provide students with an engaging learning environment, as well as teaching tools that make collaboration with others possible. A metaverse can offer a rich environment for collaboration, and it can also provide timely assessments for students. The use of Metaverse in education needs to be evaluated. Several studies have been done on the use of Virtual Worlds in education. One study coded the use of Second Life for education, which was used seven times more often by Gen Y students than Gen Z students. However, a metaverse study has yet to be completed that looks at the benefits and drawbacks of this technology. Roblox Using Roblox and Metaverse in education can be useful tools for classrooms, but there are some concerns about their use. The primary concern is privacy, especially when collecting personal information online. It’s also hard to predict what users might do or say in this virtual environment, and users may become a target for crimes. On the positive side, Metaverse can increase student interest and encourage active participation in learning. However, the use of Metaverse in education shouldn’t be used in place of traditional teaching methods. Roblox has a large audience, with more than 43 million monthly active users. This has led to developing a learning pathway for students under 18, where they can learn more about using the internet responsibly and safely. In addition, teachers are beginning to incorporate Roblox into their teaching methods. Using avatars in the metaverse The metaverse is a digital environment where multiple users interact through avatars. This environment is typically 3D and consists of various environments, including virtual rooms, houses, communities, outdoor spaces, and more. Users can customize their avatars and create custom paths to explore and socialize. Metaverse users can also choose to include webcams, which allow them to connect face-to-face. The metaverse has several educational applications. It is an ideal tool for STEM education, where students can practice complex experiments at their own pace. It also helps students to gain real-world experience and peer interaction. Privacy Privacy in the Metaverse is an increasingly important issue, given the increasing role played by the Internet in education. While this emerging technology offers many educational benefits, it is not without its drawbacks. There are still many concerns regarding student privacy, access to education, and institutional integration. However, the potential to transform education and the future of learning with the metaverse is considerable. One of the most significant concerns is privacy and data sharing. It’s important to note that privacy laws vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. While most states have some form of privacy law, federal privacy laws aren’t as clear. Privacy laws are important because they ensure consumer trust and make consumers more willing to give their information to a company that they feel is trustworthy. Security The rise of the virtual world, the Metaverse, has caused a stir in many industries. While some educators are skeptical of the security risks involved, others are excited to take advantage of this new technology’s learning opportunities. As a result, a team of educators recently published a report on the evidence-based use of XR tools in education. A metaverse is a virtual world where students can engage in real-world experiences in virtual environments. This virtual world allows students to “be themselves” and make mistakes until they have mastered the learning objective. This process is not possible in the real world, which makes it an incredible tool for mastering skills. Ethics The metaverse is a new world based on virtual reality, which has implications for education and business. It is a multi-dimensional space where social networking, gaming, and information retrieval are integrated. This virtual world is becoming increasingly important for communicating with friends and family. It is also being hailed as a potential solution to pressing issues. However, despite its promise for education, many ethical issues exist. First, metaverse content may be less neutral than traditional media. For instance, if a student’s personal information is compromised in a metaverse, this information could be distorted or misused. The metaverse can also create intellectual property rights, ownership, and sexuality issues. The metaverse is not free of ethical issues, and education leaders must consider its impact on students and educators.

U.S. Reviewing Haiti’s Request For International Security Assistance – Reuters Canada https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/u-s-reviewing-haitis-request-for-international-security-assistance-reuters-canada/ WASHINGTON, Oct 8 (Reuters) – The United States on Saturday said it was reviewing a request for international support from Haiti, which says it is seeking a “specialized armed force” to address a crisis caused by a blockade of the country’s main fuel port. The U.S. State Department said criminal actors were undermining Haiti’s efforts to halt the spread of cholera. “In that context, we will review the Government of Haiti’s request in coordination with international partners and determine how we can increase our support to help address Haiti’s fuel shortage and security constraints,” it said in a statement. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com It did not offer details on how the United States might help Haiti address its security constraints. The Montana Accord, a group of Haitian intellectuals and activists that has been highly critical of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, described his request as an act of treason and said that foreign troops would only make things worse. “History teaches us that no foreign force has ever solved the problems of any people on earth,” the Montana Accord said in a statement, adding that Haiti instead needs support for its police force. “It is our Haitian police force that will have the ability to once and for all solve the insecurity problems that Haitians are experiencing.” Haiti has ground to a halt since a coalition of gangs blocked the Varreux fuel terminal last month. The lack of gas and diesel has crippled transportation and forced businesses and hospitals to halt operations. It has also led to a shortage of bottled water, just as the country confirmed a new outbreak of cholera, the spread of which is controlled through hygiene and clean water. Tech Earnings To Show If ‘awful Few Months’ Will Linger Into Next Year – Seeking Alpha https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/tech-earnings-to-show-if-awful-few-months-will-linger-into-next-year-seeking-alpha/ oatawa With the next big round of tech earnings on the horizon, Wall Street is already preparing itself for a raft of quarterly reports that reflect a sense of negativity unlike any seen in the sector in more than a decade. A combination of the Federal Reserve’s mixed efforts to tamp down inflation, ongoing evidence that a recession could be on the way and spending reductions by both consumers and enterprises has resulted in months of weakness across the tech sector. For example, in the last week of September alone, tech bellwethers such as Intel (NASDAQ:INTC), Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD), Alphabet (GOOG) and Meta Platforms (META) all saw their shares fall to 52-week-lows, and are now just barely above those ignoble levels. “Outside of the last few days, it’s been an awful few months for tech stocks,” said Wedbush analysts Dan Ives and John Katsingris, in a research report that looks at what to expect from tech stocks in the upcoming earnings season. “To this point, we are entering a crucial third-quarter earnings season.” The situation is sideways now that Ives and Katsingris said, “Any positive news is negative news in this market, and bad news is perceived as Armageddon, and thus takes down tech stocks in a heartbeat.” Ives and Katsingris said that not all news has been back for tech stocks, and that industry checks show enterprise software and cyber security shares are “holding up well”. And it should come as no surprise that some of the “favorite” companies currently in software include such usual suspects as Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Salesforce (CRM). The analysts also cite Palo Alto Networks (PANW), Fortinet (FTNT) and CyberArk (CYBR) among their top cybersecurity picks. When it comes to their overall favorite tech company, Ives and Katsingris said Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is at the top of mountain. Regardless of the company involved, Ives and Katsingris said that many eyes will be trained on the status of enterprise spending budgets and their impact on sales growth. “This is the big question,” the analysts said. “It’s easy to punt on discretionary projects and tighten IT budgets as darker storm clouds approach into 2023.” The analysts added that so much negativity this year has created a situation that is difficult for investors to get enthusiastic, and such sentiment may last for months to come. Ives and Katsingris said the earnings reports that are set to roll in over the next month “will either expose the negative underlying fundamentals across the tech space and cause massive earnings cut into 2023” or prove that the recent negativity about “the demise of growth tech was premature and many pockets of tech are holding up well.” One of the sectors likely to see a strong impact from the status of enterprise budgets is semiconductors, where leaders such as Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Nvidia (NVDA) have recently been bruised due to concerns about spending among data center customers.

NSW Cashless Gaming Machine Trial To Commence With New Digital Wallet. Tech Business News
NSW Cashless Gaming Machine Trial To Commence With New Digital Wallet. – Tech Business News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/nsw-cashless-gaming-machine-trial-to-commence-with-new-digital-wallet-tech-business-news/ A new digital wallet that reduces gambling harm and money laundering risks is being trialed for the first time in NSW, where up to 200 people will participate. Minister for Hospitality and Racing Kevin Anderson says digital wallets are being tested as part of a pioneering initiative to help venue managers and law enforcement officials identify money laundering cases. “The trial is part of an initiative to provide customers with more flexibility and control over their spending.” says Anderson. “The three-month trial will test how the technology operates in real-life conditions and its potential benefits for venues and patrons.” Customers at Western Australia’s Club West can now use their mobile phones to play games on 36 machines, thanks to technology developed by Aristocrat Gaming using a Bluetooth connection between the customer’s mobile phone and the gaming machine. It will enable them to deposit money directly from their mobile wallet into the game. According to Anderson players can set spending or time limits, see real-time spending data, take a break or self-exclude from gambling, and access other responsible gambling tools and services with the digital wallet. “The digital wallet requires a person’s identity to be confirmed before they can play and they are linked to that person’s debit card or bank account which means authorities can identify where those funds have come from if needed.” he said Four examples of limits that can be set with the new technology include: Frequency of play: maximum number of visits to a venue in a specified period Session length: maximum duration for a continuous gaming session Amount spent: total net expenditure in a given period Total bets: maximum total bets within a given period Users are able to choose which limit to activate and choose multiple limits that can’t then be altered for 24 hours. Managing Director Aristocrat Gaming APAC David Ronson says we are pleased to have put forth this proposition, as we believe that allowing electronic gaming machine play payment through patrons’ mobile phones will increase the long-term vitality and vigor of our trade. “The investment to bring forward and trial cashless payment solutions, through digital wallet technology, and deliver a complete digital experience for patrons is part of Aristocrat’s longstanding commitment to innovation and supporting its customers.” says Ronson. CEO of The Wests Group Australia Phil Gardner says the initiative is designed to enhance the patron experience and introduce a new level of convenience and safety. “Our long-standing dedication to welfare and patron choice is what makes this trial particularly meaningful. Many of our patron’s desire digital payments, and this trial offers them.” “Members will be able to use the new digital tools to empower themselves and set limits, speak to staff members, or even exclude themselves from the club if they wish.” says Gardner. Mr Anderson added, the Government has approved three other gaming manufacturers to conduct similar trials, IGT, Utopia Gaming and Scientific Games, with another application currently being assessed. How To Stay In Grace Bay Beach On A Budget TheTravel
How To Stay In Grace Bay Beach On A Budget – TheTravel https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/how-to-stay-in-grace-bay-beach-on-a-budget-thetravel/ Visiting a beach—any beach—is an adventure that’s not only enjoyable but also immensely therapeutic. It’s not just the warm feel of sand between the toes, or the feel of the ocean zephyr that rustles the leaves and sweeps across the face—a beach has many other vacation-friendly sides to it. Think about an immense pool of water that extends to the far-distant horizon. And the activities one can indulge in—whether above the surface—or in the fascinating underwater world. Beaches will always be a vacation draw. While some beaches are free, many others will cost a decent amount in parking or other access fees. However, even for free beaches, there are usually some significant costs related to travel and accommodation. These can swell up to a huge outlay for certain destinations. In this article, we disclose how vacationers can travel to Grace Bay Beach, the Caribbean Beach in Turks & Caicos that was voted the best in the world by Tripadvisor. How To Travel To Grace Bay Beach On A Budget Travel is a major component of a vacation budget. Usually, the amount one will pay for travel depends on the time of the year. An evergreen piece of advice is to avoid the high season. And for Grace Bay Beach, that’s from December all the way to April. This is the time that Grace Bay Beach is most crowded—causing a spike in both travel and hotel prices. The weather is also just the perfect Caribbean weather that makes the region a hot travel favorite. For a budget traveler, the cheapest time to travel to Grace Bay Beach would be the low season. And that’s from June to November with September and October being the cheapest. Of course, they’ll have to be some trade-offs. For instance, the weather can be quite hot and rainy. In addition, one may have to contend with a greater assault of bugs and mosquitoes. This is usually the height of the Atlantic hurricane season, too. The bright side is that one can chance on exciting offers such as a free extra night. When we come to flying, budget travelers should avoid big airports like Denver, JFK, or Orlando and instead opt for smaller airports. For instance, Fort Lauderdale is usually a budget-friendlier option. Usually bigger airports are more expensive than smaller ones. The amount of money airlines pay to operate in small airports is up to 60% less than what they pay to operate in large airports. This cost savings trickle down to ticket prices; parking fees in small airports are way cheaper as well. A roundtrip price of between $200-$300 is possible with such airlines as JetBlue. Tuesdays are typically the cheapest days of the week to fly out to the Turks & Caicos. Find Budget-Friendly Hotels At Grace Bay Beach Here’s the thing. Grace Bay is not exactly a cheap destination. For instance, hotels charge an average of about $756 per night. Of course, different factors will come into play. This includes the type of hotel and the type of room. For instance, the average rate per night for a 3-star hotel is $296. For a 4-star or a 5-star, it’s way higher. That said, there are ways a budget traveler can cut accommodation costs. It all depends on how far one wishes to go with scouring the web and checking out places. But we can make it simple. For instance, our research reveals that the Sibonne Beach Hotel, which is located right on Grace Bay Beach—is one of the cheapest on the island. Here’s why. A room at the Sibonne Beach Hotel can go for as low as $179 per night. Granted, there are only two such rooms and for good reason, are often booked well in advance. But booking in advance is a vacation strategy a budget traveler must always master. Other rooms at Sibonnee range from $210 all the way to $410. Other cheap hotels include Ocean Club West, Hotel La Vista Azul, and Zenza Boutique Hotel. In addition, one can grab an apartment at Inn at Grace Bay for about $229 per night (and the property comes with a kitchen). Other Ways To Cut Costs On A Grace Bay Beach Vacation Other ways one can cost include booking accommodation facilities that have kitchens. Buying food at Grace Bay can be expensive. This is why booking a facility such as Inn at Grace Bay would make a lot of financial sense. If one has to eat out, local Caribbean cuisine tends to be significantly cheaper. So this is something one should consider. How Far Is Grace Bay Beach From Miami, Florida? Grace Bay is 576 miles from Miami, Florida Of course, the beach is a fine place. However, if one wants to enjoy moving around, half-day excursions around the island average about $150. And renting a car is cheaper than using taxis. But if one has to use a taxi, Conch Cabs are usually the cheapest for getting around and seeing everything Grace Bay has to offer. With the tips we’ve given, there’s no reason a vacation to the world’s finest beach should break the travel budget. %

VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS OCTOBER 8 VietNamNet
VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS OCTOBER 8 VietNamNet
VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS OCTOBER 8 – VietNamNet https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/vietnam-business-news-october-8-vietnamnet/ Major tasks and solutions outlined to develop science-technology market Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked the Ministry of Science and Technology as well as ministries, sectors and localities to focus on six major tasks and solutions to promote the growth of the science-technology market in a synchronous, effective, modern and integrated manner. In a notification on the conclusion of the PM at a recent conference on the development of the science and technology market, the Government leader underlined the need to remove difficulties and bottlenecks in terms of institution, mechanism and policy to boost the market. Ministries, sectors and localities should associate tasks and plans to develop the science and technology market with their socio-economic development plans in five years and each year, he requested, asking them to encourage the research and renovation of technologies and the settlement of environmental and climate change issues, and promote digital transformation and green growth. Along with continuing to effectively implement solutions given in the national programme on the development of science and technology market until 2030, it is necessary to synchronously develop the national infrastructure system serving the science and technology market, while strengthening the connectivity between central agencies and localities, and among research institutes, training facilities, businesses and the people, the PM stressed. He also ordered the gradual integration of domestic and international technical platforms on science and technology, along with the strengthening of personnel training for the science-technology sector, the increase of communications and the expansion of pioneering firms in trading of technologies, especially high and source technologies. Excise tax abolition proposal for gasoline rejected The Ministry of Finance has rejected a proposal to drop the special consumption tax on gasoline, saying the tax rate is not high and adding that the issue is beyond the ministry’s authority. The special consumption tax rate on gasoline in Vietnam is currently far lower than that of neighboring countries such as Laos, Cambodia and China, the Ministry of Finance said, explaining its decision. The special consumption tax, or the excise tax, is 10% for gasoline, 8% for gasoline E5 and 7% for gasoline E10. Additionally, the Law on Special Consumption Tax does not prescribe any conditions for exemption or reduction of the excise tax on goods and products subject to the tax. The ministry’s decision was in response to a proposal to exempt oil products from the tax made by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The ministry also clarified that the adjustment of the special consumption tax is under the authority of the National Assembly. Thus, the proposal must be submitted to the National Assembly, not the ministry, for consideration. Moreover, the ministry considered gasoline a non-renewable resource that needs to be used wisely and sparingly. That means it is reasonable to impose a special consumption tax on gasoline. According to the draft resolution of the National Assembly, the special consumption tax and value-added tax on fuels will be reduced by 50% at the maximum. The National Assembly Standing Committee will determine the specific reduction of the special consumption tax on gasoline and the value-added tax on fuels, as well as the time of application amid the global fuel price fluctuations. Labor market bounces back The labor market continued its strong growth momentum of the previous quarter as the employment rate in the year to September soared, the General Statistics Office reported on October 6. It had around 50.8 million employed workers aged 15 and older in the third quarter, 255 thousand people higher than the figure in the second quarter and soaring 3.5 million over the same period last year. In January-September, employed people of statutory working age totaled 50.5 million, up 1.5 million over the year-ago period. The period witnessed more and more people leaving their hometowns for cities. The urban labor force in the first nine months reached 18.7 million people, up 1.1 million year-on-year. The service sector attracted the most workers, with 39% of the workforce, or some 19.7 million workers, going into it, a year-on-year increase of nearly 900,000 workers. The construction and industry sectors came second, accounting for a third of the total with 16.9 million workers, up 726.8 thousand year-on-year. The rest worked in the agricultural, forestry and fishery sectors, down 162.2 thousand people year-on-year. The labor force participation rate in the year through September was 68.5%, up 0.9 percentage points compared to the same period last year, while the trained workforce remained unchanged, estimated at 13.5 million people. On the other hand, nearly 1.08 million people of working age were jobless between January and September, down 251 thousand people over the same period of 2021. The unemployment rate in the nine-month period stood at 2.35%, a decline of 0.64 percentage points versus the same period last year. The number of unemployed people aged 15 to 24 was estimated at 413 thousand, making up 37.5% of jobless people aged 15 and older. Binh Duong to have freeze-fried instant coffee plant ILD Coffee Vietnam, a joint venture between Louis Dreyfus Company and Poland’s Instanta, is seeking support from the Binh Duong Province authorities to build a freeze-fried instant coffee plant in the southern province’s Ben Cat Town. Bui Minh Thanh, secretary of the Ben Cat Party Committee, yesterday, October 6, received and worked with Alexander Nowakowski, secretary at the Polish Embassy in Hanoi and head of the ILD Coffee Company, the local media reported. Speaking at the working session, Nowakowski said the infrastructure system in the province is adequate, adding that the local authorities have created favorable conditions for businesses. Many Polish companies have invested in Binh Duong and given positive feedback on the investment environment in the province, the Polish official said. According to him, the ILD Coffee Company plans to develop the freeze-fried instant coffee plant at the Protrade international industrial park in Ben Cat Town, with a total investment of over US$80 million. The provincial Department of Planning and Investment granted a business registration certificate to the ILD Coffee Company under the name “ILD Coffee Vietnam Co., Ltd.”, which is located in the industrial park. ILD Coffee Vietnam proposed the authorities of Ben Cat facilitate the handover of the cleared site and the development of power supply facilities so that the company can break ground on the project in early 2023. Thanh said he would work with the industrial park management board, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Electricity Group in the southern region to speed up the construction of power supply facilities for the plant. Thanh also pledged support for enterprises to run their businesses in the province. Bac Kan plans to build Quan Binh airport The mountainous province of Bac Kan has devised a plan to build the Quan Binh airport for 2021–2050 with a total estimated cost of VND8,000 billion. Nguyen Dang Binh, chairman of the Bac Kan People’s Committee, tasked the relevant departments and agencies with completing the Quan Binh airport project as part of the province’s planning period 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050. The airport project, which will be built in Quan Ha Commune, Bach Thong District, is divided into two phases. In the first phase, a VND5,000-billion airport with an annual passenger capacity of 0.5 million will be constructed under a public-private partnership format. The proposed airport spans around 138 hectares and will be in accordance with the 3C standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). After 2030, a civil airport matching ICAO’s 4C requirements and a 50-hectare military airport will be completed as part of phase two. Dr Ashish Dwivedi Explains Connection Between Gym And Heart Attack – Zee News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/dr-ashish-dwivedi-explains-connection-between-gym-and-heart-attack-zee-news/ Exercise: How, what and how much? The role of exercise in health is undisputed, but how, when and how much is very important; especially in heart disease. Exercise paired with a healthy diet and avoiding smoking is a simple measure of heart health. In some cases, exercise can be as powerful as medicine.1 Exercise helps heart health in the following ways:1 Reduces blood pressure Ensures healthy body weight Strengthens muscles Improves the circulation of blood in the body, reducing the load on the heart Stops or delays the development of diabetes Decreases risk of stroke, blood clots Lowers bad cholesterol and increases good cholesterol Reduces stress, making you feel good Decreases inflammation which affects several body systems However, pushing too hard is a bad idea. Research shows that exercising more than the recommended guidelines can lead to major health issues.3 Besides, the exercise regimen should be carefully chosen based on your health and physical conditions. Therefore, consult a doctor/physical trainer before you start an exercise routine. Exercise, how? First thing is to make a start and get more active. Choose an activity that you enjoy. Ensure you wear comfortable clothes and footwear. Schedule exercise in your daily timetable. Exercise with your friends and family. Maintain an exercise log and track progress. Do not exercise when you are sick or for a few days following sickness – give time for your body to recover.2 Exercise, what? Anything that makes you move and burn calories is exercise. It could be as simple as doing household work or climbing stairs. However, aerobic (or “cardio”) activity puts your heart and lungs at work and improves your fitness. The following table gives you a list of different types of aerobic exercises one can do (again, you need to talk to your doctor before starting any).4 Exercise, how much? About 150 minutes per week of moderate exercise or 75 minutes per week of vigorous exercise are recommended for healthy living. Moderate exercise for 30 min a day for 5 days a week is often sufficient to achieve optimal health benefits. Vigorous exercise can be limited to just 3 days a week as there are chances of injury.2 Exercise slowly for the first five minutes; it helps the heart rate increase gradually, the body to loosen and increases blood flow to muscles. Then perform your exercise routine, and at the end, cool down for 5 min to allow your heart rate to come back to resting levels and temperature to normal. Ensure you are well hydrated. During the initial days, start with low-intensity exercise and then gradually increase the intensity as your body starts accepting and adjusting to the exercise. Also, increase the duration of exercise gradually. Red flags Stop exercising when you have chest pain; heaviness in the chest; fatigue; neck, upper back and jaw pain; and light-headedness or dizziness. Also, ensure your surroundings are safe. Kickoff at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga. is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS. The Bulldogs are 28-point favorites in the latest Georgia vs. Auburn odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total points scored is 49.5. They’ve allowed a total of 37 points in the last five matchups at home, permitting seven or fewer in four of those meetings. Georgia has given up more than 10 points only twice in its last 10 overall clashes with the Tigers. Stetson Bennett has completed 69.5% of his pass attempts this season for 1,536 yards and five touchdowns. The senior quarterback posted his third 300-yard performance of 2022 last week, completing 24-of-43 attempts for 312 yards, and did not throw an interception for the fourth time in five contests. Bennett, who is tied for the team lead with four rushing TDs, has recorded 471 yards and three scores through the air in two career games versus Auburn. Why Auburn can cover  Even though they’ve lost their last seven visits, the Tigers own an 18-16 all-time record at Athens. They hope to start this matchup the same way they did against LSU last week, when they built a 17-0 lead before allowing 21 unanswered points. Freshman quarterback Robby Ashford was impressive in his second career start, throwing for 337 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Ashford completed only one of his first three pass attempts before hitting Ja’Varrius Johnson for a 53-yard TD just 2:03 into the contest. A junior wideout, Johnson leads Auburn with 16 catches and 305 receiving yards, gaining at least 73 in three of his four outings. Junior Tank Bigsby is the Tigers’ leading rusher with 326 yards and is tied with sophomore Jarquez Hunter for first with four touchdowns on the ground. Wholesome Out And About Interview: Why Not Create A Healthy Metaverse? TrueAchievements
Wholesome – Out And About Interview: “Why Not Create A Healthy Metaverse?” – TrueAchievements https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/wholesome-out-and-about-interview-why-not-create-a-healthy-metaverse-trueachievements/ Wholesome – Out and About has a lovely message, as it hopes to inspire a real-world connection with nature through its gameplay. Check out our interview with Yaldi Games founder and managing director Elena Höge! Wholesome – Out and About will see us working to help a community rebuild its town and strive towards sustainability, while we explore, craft, cook, and more! What is Wholesome – Out and About? Wholesome – Out and About is an open-world life-sim with farming and exploration elements, and a big focus on encouraging a real-world appreciation of, and engagement with, nature. It’s in development and is published by Yaldi Games. “‘I called the company Yaldi Games because that’s a Scottish word… the word means something like ‘excitement’ and ‘joy’, it’s like ‘yay’ but the Scottish version of it,” Höge tells us. “I thought it was adorable, I loved how the word was written, so that’s why I called the company Yaldi Games, because excitement and joy were just the things that we’re trying to create within the games, but also inspiring real-life experiences. That’s kind of the model of the company, the mission is we want to make games that inspire real-life activities. Any games I want to make in the future should all have really fun gameplay (that’s like common gameplay, not ever educational)… and then this little piece of knowledge integrated into things and then use them in your real life.” This core aim, and the founding of Yaldi Games, was partly inspired by an experience Höge had in 2019, a few months before founding the company in 2020. “My parents had started foraging, and that’s not something that we had ever done before. Usually when we went outside, we went hiking or we went for a walk, and especially as a kid that was quite boring; you don’t have the same appreciation for nature as a child and as a young adult,” Höge says. “So when I went foraging with them at that point, when I was grown up, that was the point that I realised how much it connects you to nature. Foraging was kind of like a window that allowed me to see through to nature and the ecosystem and how everything ties together. I went foraging with my parents on this Bavarian hill, and we were scrambling up the slopes — they were very steep slopes — but I found quite a few interesting mushrooms for the first time… that was such an exciting activity,” she continues, likening the experience to a treasure hunt and a detective game, because of the need to carefully identify the mushroom you’re looking at to avoid any dangerous ones. “Exploring a forest is always so much more interesting than just walking down a given path. And then that way you actually move more; you spend a whole day outside, and it feels like fun. So I knew, in that moment coming down that mountain, that’s when I decided I was going to make a game that had real plants, real mushrooms, real recipes and crafting instructions, because we could potentially inspire people to actually then go out and recreate those activities,” Höge says. “That’s what I did on that day, and it made me really happy, and I felt like, that’s something the world needs, so I’ll try to make it. Let’s see how it goes!” Höge describes the experience of entering and winning competitions and grants for Yaldi Games and Wholesome – Out and About, and laments the difficulties indie games and studios face. “I got the UK games fund, which is the first games fund and the only games fund… there’s not enough funding for games, there’s not enough funding for indies. It’s bad. All the money goes into film.” In general, she says, it creates a “super bad ecosystem for indies to actually thrive.” Wholesome – Out and About was able to stand out thanks to its aim to promote both physical and mental wellbeing, as well encouraging a connection with nature and education. When does Wholesome – Out and About launch? We don’t yet have a release date for Wholesome – Out and About on Xbox, but we’ll keep an eye out! What’s it about? In Wholesome – Out and About, we arrive at Wholesome village to find it suffering in the aftermath of a storm which also wrecked our Granny’s cottage. We’ll be trying to help the townsfolk and repair the town, while also helping the community work towards sustainability. “The most important thing about the story, the messages that I wanted to communicate with the story, were all about community, sustainability, and climate action,” Höge says. “It was actually inspired by an article I read in a newspaper about a town coming together as a community to make their town net zero, because they saw that their government was just not doing enough, so they decided to just do it themselves… I thought that was really inspiring,” she continues, “so the whole setting of the game is inspired by that story… there will be a dramatic incident at the beginning of the game which is a cause of climate change and the lack of the response we have been doing as humans so far, so that will actually bring the town together, bring the people together, and allow them to think about how can they become more sustainable.” The townspeople will also be working on “how can they come together as a community to buy this community centre,” while we’ll aim to “help the people that have been struck down by the misfortune of this event, to rebuild. It’s still a little bit wobbly,” Höge says, “but the message is really all about the community, sustainability, climate action, and this town coming together.” Höge explains that “it’s all about communicating some actionable things… what’s really important to me is that every character has their own journey to sustainability, and that we as a player learn about it through them. So we can learn about fast fashion through a character that used to order lots of clothing like we do on Asos or something, and then them realising how this is bad, and then changing their behaviour…. It’s very light-touch information, but just by having it integrated into a character’s behaviour and their dialogue, I think it could have a huge impact on teaching people about it, just putting the information out there.” What’s the gameplay like? In Wholesome – Out and About, we will be “helping the town, bringing people together, and seeing them buy and restore this community centre that is the centrepiece of the town,” all while seeking to learn more about nature. We’ll also be upgrading our house, garden, and shop, and “essentially contributing as an active part of the community.” Along with completing quests, we’ll be exploring, cooking, crafting, gardening, foraging, and decorating. “When you’re in the middle of the game, for example, you’ll probably start a day by rolling out of bed, and then going outside and watering all your plants, because watering is best done in the morning,” Höge begins. “And then you’ll probably have lots of items that you created and cooked in your inventory so you’ll take them to your little shop. You can place them there and they’ll be sold over the course of the day… your granny takes care of them, and then you can go off and explore.” While exploring the world, we can walk, ride our bike, and unlock train stations to get around faster. “Essentially it’s all about that exploration and foraging, because you can really take your time, you can explore those beautiful environments, and then what you’ve found, you can take that back, you can cook something with it or craft something with it, and then put that in your store and sell that the next day, and fulfill some orders in your garden.” Höge refers to playing Animal Crossing, saying, “I just noticed that, for me, I would really love to have a bit more engagement and direction than Animal Crossing is offering.” To that end, Wholesome – Out and About will feature daily quests. “Those daily quests are really interesting, I’m a big fan of them myself, because they’ll be all about the characters and curing some problems that they’re having,” she explains. “So for example, I have a long list of medical conditions and herbal remedies for them, so through the daily quests, you’ll learn about nutrition, what kind of herbal cures you can use to heal certain kinds of problems. If you have a headache, for example, the character could tell you to get meadowsweet and make a tincture from it, or a tea, or if they have a fever, that also works… the daily quests are really the things that I’m looking forward to the most. There’ll be a lot of them, and so you’ll find different ones every day, that give you something to do, something to forage for, something to look for, and then that improves your friendship with the characters and allows you to level up and unlock more dialogue and that kind of thing.’ Höge says these daily quests will likely be the “main way” of helping the townsfolk and making friends. “We’ll have a really beautiful storyline in the first actual seasons, the first days of the game, essentially, but then we’ll let the player loose, and they can choose to do what they want to do. In that case, the daily quests will be something they can come back to and do every day, to engage with the characters, to help them out, and of course you can also gift them things.” One of Wholesome – Out and About’s core aims is to encourage players to take what they learn in the game and apply it to the real world; for instance, trying out the crafting recipes in the game, in real life. There will be a lot of these recipes: “in my spreadsheet currently, I have like 180 recipes, and I love all of them,” Höge says. “I did create a lot of them myself as well, so for example something that’s in there that I created is spruce tip jelly. Spruce tips come out in spring… You can harvest them, you can eat them like this as well, they’re ve...

The Best Cartoons To Watch On Netflix Hulu HBO And More Polygon
The Best Cartoons To Watch On Netflix, Hulu, HBO And More – Polygon https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/the-best-cartoons-to-watch-on-netflix-hulu-hbo-and-more-polygon/ The heyday of Saturday-morning cartoons is long behind us. In the era of streaming television, where services like Netflix and Hulu have the means to surprise-drop whole seasons of animated shows and feature-length films on subscribers without warning and and where (nearly) all your favorite shows are accessible with the push of a button, popular animated television is no longer “appointment” television and instead is a matter of finding time to fit it in with the rest of one’s busy media schedule. Here at Polygon, we love animation — especially the era of animation when one had to be in front of a television set at a particular time of the day on a particular day of the week in order to catch our favorite shows. We’ve put together a list of our favorite childhood cartoons and where you can watch them. For the sake of this list, a “Saturday-morning cartoon” is less a matter of whether it aired on the weekend or not, but rather a matter of a show that made any day it aired on feel like a Saturday for the duration of its run time. Here are Polygon’s favorite Saturday-morning cartoons! American Dragon: Jake Long Image: Walt Disney Television Animation American Dragon: Jake Long made immediate waves in my San Gabriel Valley-based extracurricular group. Sure, he had dyed spiky hair (to indicate he was a cool Asian to white kids), and yeah, it was a mystical martial arts-styled show. But we loved him because Disney finally figured out that we loved Brenda Song, and decided it was time to branch out a little more. Like any good superhero show, Jake’s own arc is focused on his ability to hone his powers — practicing his ability to shape-shift into a dragon. —Nicole Clark American Dragon: Jake Long is available to stream on Disney Plus. Arthur Image: Cinar/PBS Kids If you were a PBS kid growing up in the ’90s or early 2000s, then you — like me — might have absolutely loved Arthur. The aardvark family was so lovely, even if they didn’t always get along in the moment. I loved his friends like Buster, Muffy, and Francine, and am still obsessed with the Library Card Song. The show also had tons of cameos, including late Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek. A genuinely incredible and entertaining show for kids. (Why am I crying?) Truly, what a wonderful kind of day. —NC Arthur is available to stream on PBS Kids. Avatar: The Last Airbender Image: Nickelodeon Animation Studio I’ve watched this show across so many platforms. I streamed it after its recent move to Netflix, and in college I watched Legend of Korra episodes as they launched on Nickelodeon’s own streaming site (the final season never aired on TV, even though the show has since hit cult status). But as a kid I watched the hell out of Avatar episodes after school and on weekends, fully engrossed in the world’s elemental magic system and its geopolitical strife. Its storytelling was sophisticated for a kids’ cartoon, and I watched it as I went from preteen to teen, crossing the chasm of 13. My mom, who often had to deal with my cartoon bingeing, genuinely enjoyed watching it too. It remains an animated show that I love to watch as an adult (up there with Steven Universe). —NC Avatar: The Last Airbender is available to stream on Netflix. Batman: The Animated Series Image: Warner Bros. Animation I could write a blurb on Batman: The Animated Series. I could try to sum up, in a short two-to-four-sentence paragraph, how the series shaped my aesthetic and narrative sensibilities from an early age and spurred me to pursue a lifelong journey through art that would ultimately result in me writing about it as a career. But instead, I think I’ll just quote a paragraph from an essay I wrote last month for the show’s 30th anniversary: My love for Batman: The Animated Series transcends the character or the medium. The show didn’t just introduce me to the character of Batman, and it didn’t simply cement my love of animation; it opened my world to whole dimensions of art and expression and history I might never have pursued or known had I not encountered that series from an early age. In no uncertain terms, Timm and Radomski’s show is, however many degrees removed, responsible for setting me on the course to pursue a career writing about art and sharing that knowledge and passion with others. I’m a curation editor here at Polygon, which means my job is sifting through the ever-growing and shifting catalog of movies, television, comics, and games and spotlighting work I find particularly noteworthy, thought-provoking, and beautiful. I never would have honed those sensibilities, let alone thought to write about them, had it not been for Batman: The Animated Series. Batman: The Animated Series is available to stream on HBO Max. Beast Wars: Transformers Image: Alliance Communications I was not yet born when the original Transformers cartoon series first aired on American television but, to paraphrase an old meme, “Born too late to watch Transformers, born too early to explore space, born just in time to absolutely lose my mind over Beast Wars.” Old-school Transformers fans will shake their heads and harrumph at the idea of the 1996 CG series being one’s introduction to the franchise, but to my 6-year-old self, I loved it all the same and couldn’t tell the difference. The cartoon told the story of Optimus Primal and his crew of Maximal comrades who crash land on a mysterious planet — revealed to be prehistoric Earth — along with their mortal adversaries, the Predacons, led by Megatron. Beast Wars was one of my formative introductions to serialized storytelling and a series which, years later, even considering the dated visuals, still manages to hold up as a drama that’s as riveting as it is occasionally hilarious. —TE Beast Wars is available to stream on Tubi and Pluto TV. Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot Image: Dark Horse Entertainment, Columbia TriStar Television Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot to me represents the platonic ideal of what a Saturday-morning cartoon is and ought to be. Based on Frank Miller and Geof Darrow’s 1995 comic book of the same name, the series follows the eponymous Rusty, a boy robot who resembles a cross between Astro Boy and Pinocchio, who is set to replace the BGY-11, a massive war robot built as a last-ditch defense against world-ending threats both terrestrial and extraterrestrial. Unbeknownst to most of the world, however, including Rusty, the Big Guy is not in fact a robot— it’s a heavily armed battle suit piloted by Lieutenant Dwayne Hunter, who works undercover as the Big Guy’s ostensible “repairman.” A mashup of broad-shoulder superheroics and sci-fi kaiju action shot through with themes of aspirational futurism and coming-of-age drama, Big Guy and Rusty is the third most inspiring giant robot cartoon this side of Yasuhiro Imagawa’s Giant Robo and Brad Bird’s The Iron Giant. Over the span of two seasons, Big Guy and Rusty ventured across the expanse of Earth to the far reaches of the moon to 200 years in the past and back again, thwarting evildoers and growing together as a surrogate family along the way. Unfortunately, like so many other cartoons of its era, Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot was canceled on a shocking cliffhanger that still fascinates and perplexes me to this day. That said, with a show like Big Guy and Rusty, it’s the journey that matters more than the destination. Plus, it’s got an absolute banger of a opening theme song. —TE Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot is available to stream on YouTube. Danger Mouse Image: Cosgrove Hall Films, Thames Television Parodying James Bond — or, if you want to be specific, short-lived 1960s Bond knockoff TV series Danger Man — 1980s British cartoon Danger Mouse is about a mouse secret agent, who wears an eyepatch and a white roll-neck sweater, foiling the dastardly plots of evil toad Baron Greenback while keeping his hapless hamster companion Penfold out of trouble. Kids love nothing more than humor that makes them feel sophisticated and grown-up, and Danger Mouse’s mix of slapstick, farce, gentle satire, and radical, fourth-wall-breaking wit hit this sweet spot with unerring aim. It even had the courage to mock its perfect hero, and the very idea of heroism — Danger Mouse’s essential cowardice is often what saves his skin. —Oli Welsh Danger Mouse is available to stream on Netflix. Danny Phantom Image: Billionfold Inc., Nickelodeon Animation Studio I still rewatch the show’s finale on my tiny fifth-generation iPod Nano, which I’d spent iTunes money on to entertain myself during long bus rides to volleyball tournaments. Nothing is more appealing than a teen drama with an occult streak and a cast that I crushed on. In case you’re not familiar with the plot: Young Danny Fenton (he was just 14) when his parents built a very strange machine, it was designed to view a world unseen. (He’s gonna catch ’em all cause he’s Danny Phantom.) When it didn’t quite work, his folks — they just quit. But then Danny took a look inside of it. There was a great big flash, everything just changed (his molecules got all rearranged). When he first woke up, he realized he had snow-white hair and glowing green eyes. He could walk through walls, disappear, and fly; he was much more unique than the other guys. It was then that he knew what he had to do — he had to stop all the ghosts who were coming through. He’s here to fight for me and you. —NC Danny Phantom is available to stream on Paramount Plus. The Fairly OddParents Image: Frederator Studios, Nickelodeon Animation Studio Watching Nickelodeon in the early 2000s meant wishing you had fairy godparents like Cosmo and Wanda. Ripple (XRP) Shows Itself As Crypto Powerhouse; Will Price Reach $1? – NewsBTC https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/ripple-xrp-shows-itself-as-crypto-powerhouse-will-price-reach-1-newsbtc/ XRP price shows the market how to run the show as the price remains bullish with good volume and strength. XRP trades above support as the price aims to continue its trend movement as the price keeps holding above 8 and 20-day EMA. The price of XRP eyes a rally to $1 as key resistance was flipped into support with more buy orders.  The price of Ripple (XRP) has continued to show its strength as price trends with a key breakout from a downtrend range against tether (USDT). With the crypto market cap bouncing from its weekly low as the market continued to look promising, the price of Ripple (XRP) was not left out as the price broke out of its long-range with price trending to a higher height with eyes set for a possible $1 target. (Data from Binance) Ripple (XRP) Price Analysis On The Weekly Chart The crypto market received relief, as most crypto altcoins expected. However, despite the recent price surge in most crypto assets, some altcoins have remained range-bound. One project that has kept its price moving up on steady over the past few days has been XRP. After the announcement of the court order ruling in favor of Ripple (XRP) winning, the case has been received very well by XRP, a price trend week in and week out as price eyes $1. The price of XRP saw its price rejected to a weekly low of $0.3 with the court order coming at the right time; the price rose from that low to a height of $0.53, creating a more bullish scenario. If XRP maintains its bullish structure with a strong volume, we could see a price rally to $1. Weekly resistance for the price of XRP – $0.6-$0.8. Weekly support for the price of XRP – $0.3. Price Analysis Of XRP On The Daily (1D) Chart Daily XRP Price Chart | Source: XRPUSDT On Tradingview.com On the daily timeframe, the price of XRP continues to show strength as it pulls some gains despite the market appearing to have stalled in price movement; after hitting a daily low of $0.44, the price of XRP rallied to a high of $0.5 before being rejected into an ascending triangle as it struggled to break out with price breaking out and looking more bullish for a rally. The price of XRP breaking out signals more bullish trends to a high of $0.6 and a possible rally to $1. The price of XRP holding 8 and 20-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) is a good sign for price growth.  The prices at $0.50 and $0.4 correspond to the 8 and 20-day EMA values.  The Relative Strength Index (RSI) for XRP shows increasing buy orders as the value is above the 50 mark area daily. Daily resistance for the XRP price – $0.6-$0.8. Daily support for the XRP price – $0.45. Featured Image From Finbold, Charts From Tradingview

Marshall Plan Forging U.S.-Europe Alliance Tested By Ukraine War The Washington Post
Marshall Plan Forging U.S.-Europe Alliance Tested By Ukraine War The Washington Post
Marshall Plan, Forging U.S.-Europe Alliance, Tested By Ukraine War – The Washington Post https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/marshall-plan-forging-u-s-europe-alliance-tested-by-ukraine-war-the-washington-post/ George C. Marshall was doubtless moved to be equated with George Washington. As Harvard University granted the secretary of state an honorary law doctorate on June 5, 1947, its citation called him “a soldier and statesman whose character and ability brook only one comparison in the history of this country.” But Marshall — the former Army chief of staff during World War II and then arguably the country’s most admired public servant — had something else in mind as he received applause from a crowd of 15,000 in Harvard Yard: pitching a multibillion-dollar aid plan for the broken European continent. Seventy-five years later, as Russia’s war against Ukraine retests the historic bond between Western Europe and the United States, the legacy of the Marshall Plan has gained renewed relevance — as has the need to understand the frequently miscast initiative. “The Marshall Plan has become a favorite analogy for policymakers,” said Harvard political scientist Graham T. Allison, “yet few know much about it.” One reason for the confusion was the anodyne nature of Marshall’s speech itself. “It is logical that the United States do whatever it is able to do to assist in the return of normal economic health in the world,” Marshall told his receptive, if somewhat puzzled, audience that day, “without which there can be no political stability and no assured peace.” That was about as rousing — or as specific — as his short address got. There was no mention of the Soviet Union, against whose influence the plan was directed. “Any government which maneuvers to block the recovery of other countries cannot expect help from us,” he said. That was it. Marshall’s speech was vaguely worded for two reasons, said Benn Steil, director of international economics at the Council on Foreign Relations and author of “The Marshall Plan: Dawn of the Cold War.” “First, Marshall wanted to put the burden on the European countries themselves to come up with an integrated recovery plan. Also, Marshall wanted to avoid the impression that he was trying to divide Europe.” The Soviet Union was nominally welcome to join too. “Moscow was carefully not excluded,” said Steil, but behind the scenes it “was prodded to exclude itself.” European leaders certainly got the message. Within hours of Marshall’s speech, the British and French foreign ministers were conferring about how much aid they needed to regain their “economic health” and in what form. This collaboration — and the economic ties that bound the 16 nations that ultimately received U.S. loans, grants or commodities over the four-year plan — laid the groundwork for European integration. Marshall has recently come under criticism from revisionist historians for claiming principal authorship of the plan. But Marshall never denied that the European Recovery Plan — the policy’s official name, which he always used — was the work of many hands. The plan’s true godfather, according to Steil, was Marshall’s boss, President Harry S. Truman. Truman laid the ideological groundwork for it in a March 1947 speech in which he asked Congress to provide financial support for the Greek government against a Communist insurgency. Articulating what would become known as the Truman Doctrine, the president argued that the United States was “compelled to assist free people in their struggles against totalitarianism” lest its “spread undermine the foundations of international peace and hence the security of the United States.” Truman’s belief that the Soviets would meddle in Greece turned out to be wrong. But when Marshall led a delegation to Moscow the following month, he came away convinced that the Kremlin had little interest in aiding Europe, which was in social and economic turmoil and had just struggled through the “hunger winter” of 1946-47. “The patient is sick,” Marshall said in a nationally broadcast radio address upon his return from Russia, “while the doctors debate the cure.” Something had to be done to help Europe and fend off Moscow’s efforts at expanding Communism. Piecemeal aid of the sort that Congress had just granted Greece would no longer do. Marshall enlisted the big thinkers on the State Department planning staff, led by George Kennan, known as the author of the “containment” policy for deterring the USSR. The result was the Marshall Plan — a moniker Truman fostered “because I wanted General Marshall to get full credit for his brilliant contribution to the measure he helped formulate,” the president said in his memoir. Marshall led a furious campaign to pass the plan, crisscrossing the country giving pep talks and interviews. “I worked on that as if I was running for the Senate or the presidency,” he later said. On Nov. 11, 1947, Marshall made an impassioned case for the plan before a joint session of the House and Senate foreign affairs committees. Now his words were anything but anodyne. “We must not permit the free community of Europe to be extinguished,” he said. “Should this occur, it would be a tragedy for the world.” Nor was there any need to mince words about Moscow. After briefly flirting with the idea of cooperating, Joseph Stalin had made clear his opposition to the plan, forcing Europe’s Communist bloc to reject it. “It is now clear that only one power, the Soviet Union, does not for its own reasons share” the goal of restoring Europe, Marshall said. The Cold War, a phrase that had just come into use that fall, was on. And so was America’s first line of defense: the Marshall Plan. Seven months later, Congress enacted the Economic Cooperation Act, providing $17 billion ($160 billion today) in loans and grants to the 16 participating countries. Did it work? Economically, it’s not clear: The plan’s own accounting showed that the aid to the recipient countries accounted for just about 3 percent of their combined national income between 1948 and 1951. “The importance of the Plan to Europe’s recovery remains a one of contention amongst historians,” said Fredrik Logevall, a Harvard historian and author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning “Embers of War: The Fall of an Empire and the Making of America’s Vietnam.” But there is little doubt of its success in fortifying European unity and democracy. “It strengthened Western Europeans’ belief in democracy and capitalism and tied the region more firmly in a U.S.-led economic union and later a military alliance,” Logevall said. “Moreover, it helped to undermine Soviet influence in Europe.” Logevall added, “It served America’s strategic purposes, but it was also charitable to a degree seldom seen in international politics.” “It is impossible to imagine the E.U. or NATO without the Marshall Plan,” Steil said. However, the plan’s political and moral legacy was undermined by the Donald Trump administration’s derisive treatment of the U.S.-European alliance, Steil said. And now it’s being tested again by Vladimir Putin’s Russia following the invasion of Ukraine. Amid that fight, Marshall’s successor, current Secretary of State Antony Blinken, is invoking the Marshall Plan in an effort to maintain the transatlantic unity that has bound the United States and its European allies for three-quarters of a century. In June, on the anniversary of Marshall’s Harvard speech, Blinken tweeted that in 1947, “European nations rallied to the call to come together, united in purpose, contributing to the revival of Europe. Answering the call together, we can once again prevail, just as the U.S. and Europe did together 75 years ago.”

Why Google Is Shutting Down Stadia And Refunding Gamers MUO MakeUseOf
Why Google Is Shutting Down Stadia And Refunding Gamers MUO MakeUseOf
Why Google Is Shutting Down Stadia And Refunding Gamers – MUO – MakeUseOf https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/why-google-is-shutting-down-stadia-and-refunding-gamers-muo-makeuseof/ The gaming industry has become a graveyard for many big tech companies who venture into it with big dreams of success only to suffer the nightmare of radical failure. The latest victim is Google, which will shut down its Stadia cloud gaming service and refund players. Here’s why. Google Stadia Is Shutting Down According to a post on The Keyword, Stadia will shut down for good on January 18, 2023, and refund all gamers (refund details to be announced later): A few years ago, we …launched a consumer gaming service, Stadia. And while Stadia’s approach to streaming games for consumers was built on a strong technology foundation, it hasn’t gained the traction with users that we expected so we’ve made the difficult decision to begin winding down our Stadia streaming service. The Stadia platform and game servers will remain online until January 18, 2023: Players will continue to have access to their games library and play through January 18, 2023 so they can complete final play sessions. We will be refunding all Stadia hardware purchases made through the Google Store, and all game and add-on content purchases made through the Stadia store. We expect to have the majority of refunds completed by mid-January, 2023. In addition, Google has disabled all in-game commercial transactions. However, most games will continue to play as normal. Gamers will not have to return the refunded hardware, so this is a total loss for Google. Stadia Pro subscriptions are not eligible for refund, but gamers will not have to pay any further charges. Why Is Google Killing Stadia? Although there are several reasons why cloud gaming shouldn’t become mainstream, there are specific reasons why Stadia failed. 1. Stadia’s Disastrous Launch Google launched and marketed Stadia without key features such as family sharing, wireless controller support on phones or PC, Buddy Pass, and Crowd Play. In other words, Stadia launched without the ability to play against or collaborate with family and friends. First impressions are everything, especially in the gaming community. Once word got around that Stadia was launching without these key features, gamers did not sign up. 2. Internet Drawbacks Stadia required gamers to have an internet connection of minimum 35 Mbps to get 4K resolution and 60FPS, or 10 Mbps for 720p and 60FPS. While it is true that this level of internet connection is accessible to many people, the harsh reality is that many gamers are not exactly swimming in money. For many, data caps on internet access forbid unlimited streaming (cloud gaming soaks up a lot of data per hour). An Android gamer on a budget has a host of Android games that don’t need internet at all, which should have given the Stadia crew something to think about. Secondly, if your internet connection is unreliable, your gaming experience is unreliable. And if your device doesn’t support 4K, then how good your game looks and feels is accordingly limited. All in all, these drawbacks made Stadia uncompetitive versus consoles and devices which host games locally at high resolution, thereby severely limiting mass adoption. 3. Weak Games Library Stadia launched without strong exclusive titles. The situation was made worse when Google shut down Stadia’s in-house first-party development studio and lost its top game development executives. Stadia wound up relying on developers of third-party titles which no one really cared that much about, and it continued to have a weak library throughout its short lifespan. Blockbuster titles like Minecraft and Fortnite were not interested in Stadia as they were already available elsewhere. As a result, few gamers were attracted to Stadia. 4. Costs Stadia charged gamers a subscription fee of $9.99/month, or $99.99/year, and then on top of that gamers had to purchase games at full price. This didn’t make any sense for gamers, who would rather pay full price for a game they will own forever on their console or PC. In addition to this, streaming services such as PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass offer much better value for money over Stadia, in addition to their much better-developed ecosystems. As the BBC notes: What works for Xbox and PlayStation is difficult to replicate when their customers have already shelled out on consoles and subscriptions – and the firms behind them, Microsoft and Sony, have lucrative deals in place with the world’s biggest games publishers. Stadia Never Stood a Chance According to Business Insider (content behind paywall), Google Stadia had only around 750,000 monthly active users in 2020, reportedly missing Google’s target of 1 million monthly active users. This is truly poor when you compare it against rivals such as Xbox Live (Statista) and PlayStation Network (Statista), whose monthly active users had hit or surpassed the 100 million mark by that time. Google, which is known for ruthlessly killing unsuccessful products, must have given up on catching up any time soon and pulled the plug. Stadia never stood a chance. Google’s Failure Won’t Stop Others Google’s failure will not deter others from trying. There’s just too much money to be made from gaming. The latest big tech entrant is Netflix which has established its own gaming studio in Finland. Will Netflix avoid the gaming graveyard that has claimed many of its big tech counterparts and find lasting success? Only time will tell.

Flathead Lake Lodge Montana Dude Ranch Review With Photos – Insider https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/flathead-lake-lodge-montana-dude-ranch-review-with-photos-insider/ My kids at Flathead Lake Lodge. Allison Tibaldi I’ve always lived in major cities like New York and Rome, and vacation in Tuscany or the Hamptons. This summer I tried something very different. I brought my two adult kids to a Montana dude ranch. I loved it even though I didn’t ride a horse. Everyone should try it — if it’s not cost prohibitive. I’m one of the least likely people to vacation at a dude ranch. I prefer beach trips where I can read a good book while relaxing on the sand. Plus, I don’t even ride horses. But a post-pandemic appreciation for the outdoors had me craving something totally different. Hiking with my daughter. Allison Tibaldi I’m a New York City-based travel writer who’s been to every continent, including many remote corners of the world. But as someone who’s lived in New York City or Rome for most of my life, cities and cosmopolitan places are typically my favorite places to visit. Before the pandemic, jogging around the Central Park reservoir was enough fresh air for me. However, after being locked-down in my New York City apartment for so long, my perspective changed. I discovered a newfound appreciation for nature and the outdoors and when it was time to return to travel, I started dreaming of wide-open spaces, craving room to roam. Usually, my family and I vacation in Europe each summer. But when I was ready to book our holiday, a negative COVID-19 test was still required to re-enter the US and I didn’t want to risk not being allowed back in. Staying in the states was a priority. As I researched options and spoke to friends, several acquaintances highly recommended Flathead Lake Lodge in Montana, a 2,000-acre dude ranch in the shadows of Glacier National Park. I had never been to Montana, liked the idea of going somewhere new, and it seemed a fitting choice for a week-long nature-filled family vacation. It turned out to be a pandemic silver lining as my kids and I had a blast — even though it was a dude ranch and we had no desire to ride any horses. A dude ranch is an all-inclusive western-style vacation with meals, accommodations, and activities included. Horseback riding is often a focal point with group trail rides, lessons, and rodeo skill classes offered. The ranch is immersed in nature. Allison Tibaldi I was sold on my friends’ recommendations for Flathead Lake Lodge because despite the fact that it was a dude ranch centered around equestrian activities, it had so much else on offer, too. From hiking to water sports, yoga and art classes, days are filled with as much, or as little as you want to do.  With so many activities, many guests never leave the premises. The farthest we ventured was cycling a few minutes into the tiny village of Bigfork for ice cream cones. I also found the staff to be uniformly friendly. I met several employees who initially came to the ranch on vacation and enjoyed the experience so much, they applied for a job. Flathead Lake Lodge is expensive — around $5,000 per person for a week. The lake at Flathead Lake Lodge. Allison Tibaldi Flathead Lake Lodge hosts guests from June to September and guests must book an entire week, starting on a Sunday and ending on the following Sunday. I reserved nearly a year in advance and suggest booking early, as return visitors tend to book the same week year after year. A vacation at Flathead Lake Lodge is costly. I paid $5,439 per person, per week. Everything is included, from activities to meals to adult beverages. There are a few sports that incur a charge, like sporting clays but my kids and I participated in many activities without ever paying an extra cent. The only additional cost was tipping the hardworking staff.  Unlike many resorts, there’s no low or shoulder season where you’ll find a discount rate. While Flathead Lake Lodge is clearly very expensive, I’ve paid more for a holiday at top resorts in Europe, where I paid for everything à la carte. The price of a family vacation abroad quickly balloons when each soda costs 10 euros or more. At Flathead Lake Lodge, there were no costly surprises when it came to paying the bill. A dude ranch isn’t the type of place to pop in for an overnight stay or quick weekend getaway. The main lodge. Allison Tibaldi Because they only accept reservations for a seven-night stay, and with a complete turnover happening every Sunday and all guests departing and arriving on the same day, I expected check-in to be as hectic as a Times Square subway turnstile. But I was pleasantly surprised to find everything was very well organized. My children and I were dropped off at the main lodge building where check-in took place just outside the front door. It had been a long flight from New York with a connection in Denver for me, and we were all hungry. The kitchen staff had prepared an outdoor buffet with do-it-yourself sandwich fixings and a few fresh salads to feed us right away. We stayed in a two-bedroom cabin for the week that I thought was rustic and comfortable. Our cabin at Flathead Lake Lodge in Montana. Allison Tibaldi Our spacious two-bedroom cabin was a short stroll from the main lodge where our bags were dropped off. I found our accommodations to be rustic but upscale, with wood floors, cozy area rugs, beds with firm mattresses adorned with country quilts, knotty-pine log furniture, and window boxes overflowing with colorful flowers. I thought the chairs on the front porch made for a scenic perch for soaking in views of Flathead Lake. The master bedroom had a king-size bed, en suite bathroom, and an outdoor patio. There was a second bedroom with a bathroom and two twin beds for my kids. A large living room and a third bathroom meant lots of space for the three of us. Flathead Lake Lodge is a place to disconnect, so there was no television but Wi-Fi worked like a charm. Guest accommodations are cleaned daily. An unexpected surprise was laundry service, which was offered several days during the week at no extra charge. We left our dirty clothes in a designated bag and housekeeping delivered them back neatly folded. After we unpacked, it was time to go to a guest orientation in the main lodge. There were around 100 of us, from babies to senior citizens, with many multi-generational family groups. Chase, the owner (R), with his son and other ranch guests. Allison Tibaldi Chase Averill, the owner, grew up at the ranch and now runs it, the third generation of his family to do so. He lives on property with his wife and three young children, and sporting Wrangler jeans, a plaid shirt, and a cowboy hat, he greeted everyone personally before giving us a brief overview of ranch life and the many available activities. Chase treated us like welcome houseguests rather than customers, even sharing his cell phone number in case anyone had a problem late at night when the main office is closed. I noticed that he already knew many guests, which I later learned was because they return year after year. His dad, Doug Averill, who used to run the ranch, also lives here and often helps out. My kids and I don’t horseback ride, but for most guests, riding is a big part of their dude ranch vacation. Horse riding and activities are the focal point at Flathead Lake Lodge in Montana, including the weekly rodeo. Allison Tibaldi Chase walked us all over to the barn for a tour. Horseback riding is at the heart of the dude ranch experience and the wranglers provide lessons and trail rides for all ages, from beginners to expert equestrians. Guided trail rides and lessons are offered from early in the morning until dusk, and guests may ride as much as they like. Many guests spend a good part of each day in th...

How To Detox Your Liver Quickly Say Physicians Eat This Not That Eat This Not That
How To “Detox” Your Liver Quickly, Say Physicians — Eat This Not That – Eat This, Not That https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/how-to-detox-your-liver-quickly-say-physicians-eat-this-not-that-eat-this-not-that/ It’s common to hear people say they want to do a liver detox after a night of partying too much or eating a bad diet for a while, and there’s a slew of products promising you’ll have a healthy liver again in no time. But how safe and effective are liver detoxes? And should you do one? Eat This, Not That! Health spoke with Dr. Ravi Chandiramani, NMD – Naturopathic Doctor; Soul Surgery who shares what to know about liver detoxes and if they’re beneficial. As always, please consult your physician for medical advice. Read on—and to ensure your health and the health of others, don’t miss these Sure Signs You’ve Already Had COVID. Shutterstock Dr. Chandiramani explains, “The liver is the largest internal organ in the body, weighing in at about 3 pounds in an adult on average. The human liver performs over 500 vital functions.  Bile is produced by the liver to aid in the digestion and absorption of consumed fats. Bile also allows for the absorption of vitamin K from dietary fats. The liver is also our primary blood filter, allowing for the removal of toxins, byproducts and other harmful substances from our blood.  The liver creates blood clotting factors using the same vitamin K absorbed with the help of bile.  The liver removes excess glucose from the bloodstream and stores it as glycogen. The glycogen can then be broken down again when glucose is needed by the body.  The liver stores significant amounts of fat soluble vitamins (A,D,E,K) and B12 along with iron and copper.  The liver produces albumin, a protein that keeps fluids in your bloodstream from leaking into surrounding tissue(s). The liver metabolizes proteins, carbohydrates and fats so your body can use them.” Dr. Chandiramani says, “Diets high in saturated fats and refined carbohydrates such as processed foods and “fast” foods are not healthy for your liver and your body in general. You may be a candidate for a detox if this is how you eat the majority of the time or if you have been overindulging in such foods over a shorter period of time.  Lifestyle: The liver has to process all the toxins you put into your body so if your lifestyle includes smoking tobacco or anything else, consuming alcohol over established safe guidelines of one drink (12 ounces of beer or 5 ounces of wine or 1 shot of liquor) a day for women and two drinks a day for men, using recreational or illicit drugs, etc., you may be a candidate for a liver detox. Environment: Again, the liver has to process all the toxins that enter your body even if they enter your body unintentionally. Think carbon monoxide exhaust from vehicles, pesticide exposure, paint fumes, off-gassing of solvents from new cars, carpet and furniture. Therefore both the choice of living environment and the choice of job may carry a greater risk of exposure to environmental toxins. For example, big city dwellers may have greater environmental exposure to carbon monoxide but non-organic farmers may have greater exposure to pesticides. Both may be good candidates for liver detoxes.  Genetics, viral hepatitis B and C infection and the overall state of one’s health also factor into the functioning of your liver.” Dr. Chandiramani tells us, “The relative safety of a liver detox depends largely on the nature of the detox itself and the individual’s tolerance of the detox.  The safest detoxes are the ones that improve upon one or more of the “controllable” variables of diet, lifestyle and environment. Poor diets can be improved by reducing the intake of saturated fats and refined carbohydrates in favor of unsaturated fats and complex carbohydrates respectively. Adding in fresh fruits, vegetables, green leafy plants and nuts will take this dietary modification to the next level. Garlic and turmeric are excellent seasoning agents and therapeutic spices that can easily be incorporated into yummy recipes that make your food your medicine. Water is the key to it all. Staying hydrated with plenty of water is paramount in any detox effort and in general. Flavor with lime or lemon if necessary. Limiting alcohol intake, cutting back on smoking, abstaining from the use of recreational or illicit drugs, preventing hepatitis infection by not engaging in risky behaviors such as unprotected sex and intravenous drug use are all essential components to any detox effort. Engaging in any kind of movement, whether formal exercise or not, is yet another key component to lifestyle modification.  While you may not be in a position to drastically change your job or living environment, you can take steps to reduce exposure to harmful environmental toxins by wearing a mask with one or more filters, gloves, long sleeves, protective eyewear and other personal protective equipment as appropriate. Instead of only engaging in these modifications temporarily or intermittently, the goal should be to incorporate these changes to diet, lifestyle and environment permanently. If that means that they have to be incorporated gradually in order to make them part of the routine, that’s ok too.” According to Dr. Chandiramani, “Symptoms of an unhealthy or diseased liver may include: –Jaundice or a yellow hue to the whites of the eyes and skin due to high levels of bilirubin, a waste product of red blood cell breakdown. –Easy bruising due a problem with the production of blood clotting factors –Edema or swelling or fluid retention in the legs and/or ankles due to a problem in the production of albumin. –Pain in the abdomen, most commonly on the right side of the body towards the bottom of the rib cage where the liver is located in most people. –Itchy skin due the excess buildup of bile salts under the skin. –Darker colored urine than normal and/or pale colored stool than normal. –Confusion or loss of orientation due to high ammonia levels in the blood that then travels to the brain and other organs. –More subtle signs of an unhealthy liver may include feeling tired all the time, memory and focus issues, variable sleep patterns, feeling bloated, lack of appetite, more aches and pains than usual and dry mouth and eyes.”  Dr. Chandiramani suggests, “Instead of spending a lot of money on the latest and greatest juices, teas, supplements, not all of which are healthy or safe, focus instead on incremental change in diet, lifestyle and environment. In addition to the suggestions under #3, there are some additional “toxins” to consider and while these toxins may not affect your liver directly, they may well be triggers to maladaptive behaviors such as the abuse of alcohol as a coping mechanism. What causes you stress? The answer usually falls into one or more of three categories; people, places or things. If there are any steps that can be taken to mitigate these factors, take them. Correlated to this is taking a relationship inventory. Take a piece of paper and divide it into two columns, relationships that serve you and relationships that do not serve you. Every relationship in your life must be placed in one of these columns. If you approach this exercise with a truthful lens, you will have a better understanding of toxic relationships in your life and then you can make informed choices.”

Apples CEO Bashes The Metaverse And Nvidias CEO Embraces It: What It Means For Investors The Motley Fool
Apples CEO Bashes The Metaverse And Nvidias CEO Embraces It: What It Means For Investors The Motley Fool
Apple’s CEO Bashes The Metaverse, And Nvidia’s CEO Embraces It: What It Means For Investors – The Motley Fool https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/apples-ceo-bashes-the-metaverse-and-nvidias-ceo-embraces-it-what-it-means-for-investors-the-motley-fool/ On a recent trip to Europe, Apple (AAPL -3.67%) CEO Tim Cook spoke with Dutch online media company Bright to discuss the future of technology. In the interview, Cook downplayed the metaverse, instead touting Apple’s focus on augmented reality (AR). Cook said that one day, we will all “look back and think about how we once lived without AR.”   Meanwhile, Nvidia (NVDA -8.03%) spent an entire week at its biannual GTC event for tech developers, and the metaverse consumed a large amount of the time. In fact, CEO Jensen Huang talks about the metaverse a lot, and how it will shape the future.   What in the name of metaverse originator Neal Stephenson is going on here? These debates about what the metaverse actually is and what it will do are becoming silly. Not to mention confusing for investors, let alone the everyday consumer, who is already overwhelmed by the rapid changes the world has undergone in the last few years.  What is the metaverse anyway? If you do a web search for “What is the metaverse?” you’ll get as many variations on the answer as the times you click on an article (including one from yours truly). But let’s let Jensen Huang settle it once and for all. In his keynote address at GTC 2022, he provided perhaps the simplest and most elegant definition to date: The metaverse is “the 3D internet.”  I really appreciate this description. Rather than trying to reinforce this notion that the metaverse is confusing and that no one wants it (like Cook did in the above-mentioned interview), Huang breaks it down into simple terms. If some web-based service or app you use has a three-dimensional element to it, let’s just call it “the metaverse.”  Cook’s comments about AR are perhaps the best clue we have that Apple is readying some sort of device, perhaps AR or virtual reality (VR) headsets (maybe — there’ll be an announcement in 2023). But if we view the metaverse through Huang’s simple take, Apple is getting involved with the metaverse, too, whether it likes it or not. AR and VR applications will be web-based, and many AR apps are already available on the Apple App Store. I’m calling it like I see it: Apple Metaverse.   It’s all marketing! Elementary, my dear Watson. If you’re still with me, let’s turn to this question: Why all the tech CEO disagreements on what the metaverse is and what kind of future it will have? If the metaverse is just a 3D representation of the internet, a technology we all use every day and absolutely can agree has a well-established definition, why jockey for attention by bashing it? Or hype the metaverse like it’s this brand-new shiny thing that’s being built from scratch? It’s simple: marketing.  Like any good “walled garden” business, Apple has a vested interest in putting down other companies’ technology efforts while championing its own. After all, why would Apple use such a term when Meta (META -4.04%), formerly Facebook, literally changed its name to a contracted form of “metaverse” to indicate its 3D web app future? Apple has gone to great lengths to try to weaken Meta’s (ahem, Facebook’s) hold on its iPhone users’ data.  In contrast, like any good “platform” business model that helps others build tech for themselves, Huang is being inclusive and touting how the metaverse can mean different things for different consumers and businesses. Thus the term “Omniverse” for its new cloud-based collaboration and development apps. If you’re a video game company, the metaverse might mean an immersive 3D game. If you’re a manufacturing company, the metaverse might mean a virtual re-creation of your factory used for planning purposes. And if you’re a medical college, the metaverse might mean an AR app that trains students how to practice medicine.   Someday, hopefully soon, we can all agree to call the 3D extension of the internet the same thing. Maybe it will be “the metaverse,” maybe it will be something else (like “3D internet,” or, I dunno, maybe just “the internet”).  But one thing is for sure: This thing we’re discussing is already here, and new capabilities using 3D virtual content are being developed. Any differences you hear in what all this is and what it means from various CEOs’ perspectives is simply marketing to get us all ready to buy into it.  Now it’s time for you, the investor, to decide which businesses you like best to capitalize on 3D virtualization. I, for one, think Apple and Nvidia both are pretty good bets. I absolutely love it. So far, the nonstick works just as well as the day we bought it (even after being washed in the dishwasher every single time). It seems to really distribute heat evenly, and I have never had anything stick or burn on it. Mostly we use it for cooking eggs in the morning. We had a big electric griddle but it was so bulky I wanted something I didn’t have to leave out on the counter all the time. This is quickly becoming my favorite pan, and I have been cooking other things on it lately like steaks, chicken and veggies too. Definitely a great buy.” — Rose Siders A set of three flameless flickering candles you can control with a remote Check out a TikTok of the flameless candles in action. Promising review: “I bought the gold glass candle set. It’s almost iridescent gold and looks very elegant. The flame actually moves back and forth. I have mine set to come on in the evening and go off after four hours. The remote allows you to control the brightness of the candle, set a timer for auto on and off, and you can control how bright you want the actual candle inside the glass. I love them and plan to buy the gray glass set for my bedroom. Buy them, you will love them!” — Tammy B. Here’s When Traders Can Expect Next Crypto Bull Run! – Coinpedia Fintech News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/heres-when-traders-can-expect-next-crypto-bull-run-coinpedia-fintech-news/ The Bitcoin market cycles display several unusual asymmetries. At the end of a bull market, investors tend to get overly optimistic, leading to a temporary parabolic price surge. When a bull market is nearing its end, rapid price growth poses a risk of bursting the speculative bubble, and it can be seen that the participants become greedy.   According to cryptoquant cryptoquant On-Chain Followers : 0 View profile CEO ki young ju ki young ju founder and ceo at cryptoquant Ki-Young Ju, the Founder, and CEO of CryptoQuant, a South Korean on-chain analytics platform, is a cryptocurrency newcomer. Ju worked as a software developer before founding CryptoQuant in 2019. Before that, he worked on a different type of analysis, focusing on business. Ju began to focus more on the cryptocurrency space, with CryptoQuant attempting to provide indications and tools for professional Bitcoin, Ether, and stable coin analysts and traders. EntrepreneurInvestorMarket Analyst Followers : 0 View profile , the next Bitcoin parabolic bull run could be sparked by the transfer of USDC held by TradFi institutions to exchanges. In his recent analysis, Ki Young Ju has just pointed out a new factor to watch out for to identify the next bitcoin org bitcoin org Event OrganiserTechnologyPayment solution Followers : 0 View profile (BTC) parabolic bull run. Read on! Young Ju’s 4 Signs: The expert tweeted that the bull run may begin if large amounts of the dollar-pegged stablecoin USD Coin (USDC) shall flood into the exchanges. The next #Bitcoin parabolic bull run might begin when massive $USDC flows into exchanges. For now, 94% of the USDC supply is outside exchanges, some of which are owned by TradFis like BlackRock, Fidelity, Goldman Sachs, etc. They’ll move when they get orders from their clients. pic.twitter.com/Bqenvgugw1 — Ki Young Ju (@ki_young_ju) October 7, 2022 Ju cites statistics showing that, at present, 94% of USDC in circulation can’t be bought or sold on an exchange. Mainstream financial organizations like blackrock blackrock Fintech SolutionAdvisoryInvestment platform Followers : 0 View profile , Fidelity, and  goldman sachs goldman sachs Multinational Investment Bank Followers : 0 View profile , among others, hold the vast majority of this supply. The off-exchange tokens will be issued in the market when the clients of these institutions place orders for the USDC to be deployed, Ju added, possibly igniting the bull rally. Later, he elaborated that “crypto-native stablecoins” such as BUSD and USDT have been coming into exchanges, in contrast to the preferred USDC of institutional investors. Despite the bear market, the amount of Binance USD (BUSD) available on exchanges has increased noticeably. Currently, 70% of the available supply can be found on exchanges. This may be a sign that crypto locals are starting to save up some money. Tether (USDT), meanwhile, has 25% of its supply listed on exchanges.   The On-Chain Activity: What Does It Indicate? To wait out the market dip, investors have been stockpiling Bitcoin, according to the company’s CEO, who also observed that older Bitcoins now make up 74% of the total market cap. Another on-chain statistic that indicates high investor trust is Bitcoin’s hash rate. According to data from YCharts, the bitcoin hash rate—a measure of the amount of computer power devoted to safeguarding the network—has increased by almost 90% in the last year. The Bottom Line In any case, the two phases of the market cycle share a fundamental trait: identifying their respective apexes and minima is limited to retrospect. Since most investors expect either greater increases or falls when prices are at their extremes, they never appear clear when they are first forming. Was this writing helpful? Opec-Oil-Prices-Energy-Independence The Washington Post
Opec-Oil-Prices-Energy-Independence – The Washington Post https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/opec-oil-prices-energy-independence-the-washington-post/ When the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its partners — often known as OPEC Plus — announced a production cut of 2 million barrels of oil on Wednesday, the reaction in the United States was less than positive. In a statement, the White House called the decision “shortsighted” and vowed to look at alternatives for U.S. oil supply. But the oil cut raised a question. Over the past few decades, various presidents have stressed the importance of U.S. “energy independence.” (Former president Donald Trump famously claimed that under his term, the U.S. achieved energy independence, only to lose it under President Biden.) Since 2018, however, the United States has been the largest producer of oil and gas in the world and a net exporter — the country exports more than it imports. Why, then, do U.S. oil prices hinge on the actions of an international oil cartel? The answer — like the global oil market — is complex. The most straightforward answer, according to Ann-Louise Hittle, vice president of oils research at the research and consultancy company Wood Mackenzie, is that U.S. demand still outstrips its own supply. “We’re the world’s largest producer, but we’re also the world’s largest consumer,” she said. The U.S. produces 18.8 million barrels of oil per day but consumes slightly more — 20.5 million barrels per day. (The world as a whole consumes about 100 million barrels per day.) That difference means that no matter what, the U.S. has to purchase oil on the global market. So when supply in the market contracts slightly — as it will with the decision from OPEC Plus — that can affect prices in the U.S. And even if U.S. production exactly matched U.S. demand, the country would still be importing and exporting oil constantly. Crude oil can be heavy or light, sweet or sour, and those qualities affect how much it needs to be refined and for what uses. U.S. oil companies constantly export crude oil and import refined oil, and vice versa. But there is another, more complicated explanation as well. “When it comes to insulating our economy from global oil price shocks, being a big producer means next to nothing,” said Bob McNally, the founder and president of the Rapidan Energy Group and the author of “Crude Volatility: The History and Future of Boom-Bust Oil Prices.” “Real power in the oil market comes from being able to stabilize prices,” he said. McNally argues that what matters most for stabilizing global oil prices is “spare production capacity” — defined as how much a producer can ramp up oil production within 30 days. That spare production capacity allows a producer to ramp up — or slow down — oil production basically at will, shifting global prices. Saudi Arabia has a huge amount of spare production capacity: around 2 million barrels of oil a day. Once, the United States did have spare production capacity that was managed by the Texas Railroad Commission. But as more easily reached oil dried up — to be replaced by harder-to-reach shale oil — that power disappeared. Today, the United States’ spare production capacity is zero. U.S. oil producers, many of whom are beholden to their shareholders, can’t hold on to spare capacity in the same way as their Middle East counterparts. Spare production capacity “is expensive to maintain, which is why no other producers maintain it,” said Hittle. In the U.S., she added, investors would never put up with spending capital to develop production and then letting it sit idle until the right moment. Is there any solution to the United States’ role in the global market? Some researchers have suggested that the government could promise to buy more oil for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, or SPR, a stockpile of hundreds of millions of barrels of oil that is supposed to help insulate U.S. consumers from oil price shocks. (Earlier this year, Biden ordered the release of 1 million barrels of oil a day in an attempt to lower oil prices.) But experts say that the SPR is becoming worryingly depleted — and that it’s simply not a strong enough tool to counter the actions of OPEC. “It’s like bringing a squirt gun to a firefight with guys with guns,” McNally said. If the SPR becomes too drained, he argues, oil prices will rise even faster — and there will be no remaining buffer to protect U.S. consumers. Biden has also urged oil producers in the United States to drill more to help lower prices — but the president simply doesn’t have authority to order companies to produce more. And oil companies, recently burned from price crashes in the beginning of 2020, are hesitant to repeat the same mistakes. In the short term, McNally says, the best thing that the country can do is not make the situation worse. “There’s no magic wand for short-term price volatility,” he said. “It’s going to be a wild ride until we have a scalable, affordable and reliable alternative to oil for transportation.”

Technology Sector Sees Rise In Collaborative Employment – Khaleej Times https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/technology-sector-sees-rise-in-collaborative-employment-khaleej-times/ Techies are improving their prospects by upskilling for better paid jobs in future. Reuters By H. P. Ranina Published: Sat 8 Oct 2022, 4:19 PM Question: I read in the press that some well known IT companies are taking stern action against their employees who indulge in moonlighting and work for others after office hours. Is it legally possible to take action in such cases and would it not infringe upon a person’s personal rights? The debate over moonlighting especially in the IT sector has now reached the doors of the Government. The official view is that freelancing after office hours should not be done at the cost of contractual obligations. However, it is felt that the corporate sector should be ready for a new era of collaborative employment. Most young techies have confidence in themselves and want to monetise and create more value out of their own skills. According to the minister of the IT Ministry in India, the present generation believes in employee-entrepreneurships and therefore there is a structural shift in the mindsets and attitudes of the young tech workforce. According to him, any captive model will not succeed in this day and age. Several enlightened employers expect their employees to be entrepreneurial while serving them. In course of time there will be a community of product builders who will divide their time on multiple projects. Most young techies who go in for moonlighting do so not just for earning extra income but also to imbibe new skills when they work for others which they do not get to acquire in their full time job. By upskilling themselves, they improve their prospects for better paid jobs in future. Telephone privacy norms are violated as no legal action is being taken against the offenders. Is anything being done to remedy the situation and protect the interest of the public at large? Legislation is proposed to be introduced shortly in the Indian Parliament which would replace the 140-year old Indian Telegraphs Act. The proposed legislation is being drafted after taking into account the views of the public and Ministries of the Government. The objective is to secure the interest of the public. The feedback received so far emphasises the need for having penal provisions in case of violation of guidelines on the privacy of telecom users. Violators of the legislation will first be given an opportunity to take remedial measures and to refrain from offensive action in a time bound manner. This will allow rectification of genuine mistakes and minor violations. If there is failure to take remedial measures within the stipulated time period, penalties would be levied. The legislation will therefore have a carrot and stick approach to ensure that only repetitive violations are subjected to stiff penalties. The price of pharmaceutical products has been steadily rising not only in India but worldwide. Are measures being taken to alleviate the hardship on poorer sections of society? Steps are being taken to make essential pharmaceutical products and devices affordable. Several antibiotics, painkillers and therapeutic drugs which are used to treat chronic illnesses are to be included in the National List of Essential Medicines. Those products and devices listed in the NLEM can only be sold at prices which are fixed by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority. Those which are not in the list will be allowed a maximum annual price increase of ten percent. Medicines which are used for the treatment of diabetes and some critical vaccines are also to be included in the NLEM. The Ministry of Health is taking steps to ensure that medicines used for chronic illnesses are available in adequate quantities with assured quality. Manufacturers of these products will be required to fix the price using a formula prescribed by the Government. The ceiling price calculation will be based on the simple averaging of the market prices of different brands of medicines having a market share of atleast one percent. H. P. Did You Know: Lufthansa Will Let You Book A Mystery Vacation? Simple Flying
Did You Know: Lufthansa Will Let You Book A Mystery Vacation? Simple Flying
Did You Know: Lufthansa Will Let You Book A Mystery Vacation? – Simple Flying https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/did-you-know-lufthansa-will-let-you-book-a-mystery-vacation-simple-flying/ German flag carrier Lufthansa is offering passengers the chance to book flights to a surprise destination, potentially saving them a significant amount of money in the process. The concept, branded as Lufthansa Surprise, is a unique way for passengers to add some excitement to their travel plans. The process is simple – passengers choose one of nine different travel themes, their preferred dates of travel, and a departure point of either Frankfurt Airport (FRA) or Munich Airport (MUC). The price of the booking is then displayed, and once payment has been processed, the destination is revealed. Bookings can be made from one to 42 days in advance, and passengers can choose to exclude individual destinations from each travel theme. However, according to Lufthansa, the more flexible they are, the more money they stand to save. Lufthansa Surprise allows passengers to save money by booking flights to a mystery destination. Photo: Getty Images What are the travel themes? There are nine different travel themes available. Example destinations from within each theme and their prices are listed below (departures from Frankfurt): Worth Seeing – from €79 ($77) – Ibiza, Vilnius Go East – from €89 ($87) – Dubrovnik, Riga Arts and Sights – from €89 ($87) – Bordeaux, Santiago de Compostela The Great Outdoors – from €89 ($87) – Bergen, Valencia Follow the Sun – from €89 ($87) – Palma de Mallorca, Rhodes Party On – from €99 ($96) – Barcelona, Helsinki For Lovers – €99 ($96) – Florence, Malta Shop Till You Drop – €99 ($96) – Copenhagen, Milan Urban Adventures – from €109 ($106) – Madrid, Reykjavik All bookings are made on Lufthansa’s Economy fare, which includes one 8kg item of cabin baggage. Passengers can choose to add ancillary services such as checked baggage and seat selection. Once booked, the flights cannot be changed and are non-refundable. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the airline’s 24-hour free cancelation policy does not apply in this case either. There are some significant savings to be had – according to Lufthansa, savings average €250 ($243) per person. For example, on a dummy booking, flights departing mid-week in October to a ‘Follow the Sun’ destination were available for €90 ($88), whereas regular flight bookings to the potential destinations, including Palma de Mallorca and Faro, were coming in at over €300 ($292). As part of Lufthansa Surprise, passengers can select their travel dates and a travel theme. The destination is then revealed once the booking has been completed. Photo: Lufthansa Flights can also be credited to the passenger’s Miles & More account – Lufthansa’s frequent flyer program, which is due to be revamped in early 2024. The destinations available as part of Lufthansa Surprise are all within Europe. This means that flights will most likely be operated by the airline’s Airbus A320 family aircraft. Lufthansa currently has 187 Airbus narrowbody aircraft in its fleet, with 79 more Airbus A320neos and Airbus A321neos on order. Destination unknown Lufthansa is not the only airline to be offering flights to unknown destinations. This summer, ultra-low-cost carrier Wizz Air took 200 competition winners on a mystery journey from its hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH). The destination of Kutaisi (KUT) was only announced onboard once the aircraft had landed. Wizz Air recently ran a competition to fly to an unknown destination (Kutaisi), which was announced on arrival. Photo: Wizz Air While Wizz Air’s one-off competition was different from Lufthansa’s bookable flights, the concept of a surprise flight is an ingenious idea for airlines to fill seats on flights with otherwise lower load factors.
