Give The Gift Of Life The Decaturian The Decaturian
Give The Gift Of Life – The Decaturian – The Decaturian https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/give-the-gift-of-life-the-decaturian-the-decaturian/
Organ donation is a selfless gift to someone whose life would greatly benefit if received. For some people, the need for organ transplantation is a life-or-death situation; for others, it would significantly improve their quality of life. Organ donation affects not only the patient receiving it but also the recipient’s family members, friends, and their community.
According to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network, there are over 116,000 people in need of organs in the United States, and it grows daily. Approximately 20 people die per day waiting for organs, 8,000 annually, which could be much lower if more people were willing to sign up to donate. Today, more than 40,000 transplants occur annually, but as you can see, it is not enough. According to integrisk.com, 95% of people agree that organ donation is important; however, only an average of 50-60% of people are registered to donate.
Donating organs is a selfless act that can affect thousands of children, women, and men from all races and ethnicities. One donation can save up to eight lives and enhance the lives of 75 more with tissue donation. Organs that save a life include the heart, lungs, liver, and small intestines. Organs and tissue that greatly enhance a person’s quality of life are kidneys, pancreas and islets, skin, corneas, heart valves, bones, veins, tendons, and ligaments. The transplanted kidney can free a person from receiving dialysis three days a week, a time-consuming, expensive, and exhausting treatment. It also enhances survival compared to remaining on dialysis. Corneas give the gift of sight, and a burn victim benefits from a skin donation.
Organ donations are not limited to donations from deceased persons. Living donors make up about 40% of organs and tissue donated. Living donors can donate a single kidney, a portion
of the liver (it grows back), a section of the lung, bone marrow, and blood products. Donations can be for family or friends or given to strangers through an altruistic act of kindness.
The Mayo Clinic addresses some myths that may preclude people from donating after death, include fear of a decrease in effort by the healthcare team to save the patient’s life, inaccurate religious assumptions that there is a cost to donate, the body will be used and discarded, and thoughts of being too old or too young. The medical team caring for the patient during life is separate and distinct from the organ procurement organization. The medical team’s efforts and goal are to save a life. Organ donation is only considered once the patient is medically determined to be brain dead or that further care is futile. Many religions support organ donation calling it the final act of love and generosity to fellow human beings. The is no cost to donate. The body is treated with the utmost respect due to the unselfish nature of the act. Bodies are then delivered to the final destination, including an open casket if requested. People cannot assume they are too old, too young, or limited by past medical conditions to donate.
I have worked in the hospital setting as a nurse for many years. In doing so, I have witnessed many deaths and watched the struggle of the family members trying to decide if they should donate the deceased’s organs. I encourage you and your family to make that decision now so everyone is aware and that burden of that choice does not rest on your family during a time of deep sorrow.
Family members whose loved ones have donated organs after death testify that the donation was a rewarding, positive experience. It helped the grieving process to know that someone else’s life was saved or improved. Signing up to donate is a legally binding directive that will be honored at the time of death if feasible. Nonetheless, it is helpful to the health care system and your family to have discussed this decision with them ahead of time. It saves
precious time from when the process begins to the time of transplant and reduces anguish from an otherwise difficult, emotional, and stressful situation.
For more information, to read testimonials, and to sign up, you can look up organdonation.gov, giftofhope.org, or your local Department of Motor Vehicle website. Register to donate through your state of residence in the donor registry.

External SSD Storage
Dual-mode compatibility with both Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gbps) and USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps) hosts through a single port makes collaboration across devices easier for maximized efficiency.
The new offering boasts super-fast speeds up to 2700 MB/s read and 1900 MB/s write with a Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gbps) interface. Move 50 GB in 30 seconds or less and power through even the most demanding workloads. Its ultra-rugged design with IP68 dust/water resistance, up to 4000-pound crush resistance, and up to 3-meter drop resistance help withstand the elements in just about every location for ultra-durability.
“The new PRO-G40 SSD eliminates the problem we have all experienced before: grabbing the wrong USB-C cable or computer for our Thunderbolt 3 or USB devices,” said Hector Sandoval, vice president of product marketing, pricing and programs at Western Digital. “By supporting both interfaces and including a cable that does as well, this drive enables creatives to efficiently collaborate across devices without having to worry about carrying the right gear nor diminishing sustained performance as they continue producing impactful content that powers our world.”

3 Easy Ways To 10x Your Bitcoin And Ether In October Cryptonews
3 Easy Ways To 10x Your Bitcoin And Ether In October – Cryptonews https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/3-easy-ways-to-10x-your-bitcoin-and-ether-in-october-cryptonews/
Disclaimer: The Industry Talk section features insights by crypto industry players and is not a part of the editorial content of Cryptonews.com.
Whether crypto is now on the path towards a recovery or faces a wintery “Septembear”, you can still make a profit from your digital currency relatively easily.
Here are a few low-effort, high-return methods for investing your crypto assets, and ensuring they aren’t just sitting idle while you wait for the market to bounce back.
Benefit from Automated Arbitrage
One of the simplest ways to generate a profit from your digital assets is by using an automated trading system, and the safest strategy you can implement is crypto arbitrage, since it makes money whichever direction the market moves.
One of the most reputable, established arbitrage systems on the market is offered by ArbiSmart, an EU authorized financial services ecosystem, fueled by the RBIS token.
ArbiSmart’s automated crypto arbitrage system offers consistent profits of up to 45% a year, from temporary price disparities – short periods during which a digital asset will be available at different prices simultaneously. With multiple possible causes, such as disparties in trading volume between bigger exchanges and smaller ones, price differences occur just as regularly in upturns and downturns, making a crypto arbitrage investment strategy a solid hedge against crashing prices.
The investor just deposits funds and that’s it. The automated system then converts the funds into RBIS and uses them for arbitrage trading. It scans a huge array of assets across 35 exchanges, 24 hours a day, looking for price differences. It then purchases the asset wherever the price is lowest, before immediately selling it on whichever exchange offers the highest price to make a profit on the spread.
Open a Savings Plan
An interest-bearing wallet is another great way to make a profit from your crypto with minimal effort, risk or market knowledge, whichever direction the market is moving.
We can one more use the ArbiSmart project as an example, as it recently launched an interest-bearing wallet, which offers secure storage and rates of up to 147% a year, regardless of whether crypto is in a bull or bear trend.
The wallet, which was introduced in July, supports 25 FIAT and cryptocurrencies. It offers short-term plans, where funds are locked, for brief stretches of 1 or 3 months as well as long-term plans with contracts expiring after 2, 3, or 5 years.
The longer the lock on the funds the higher the interest rate. While daily interest can be automatically paid out to a separate balance where it is accessible at any time, wallet holders can get a better return by having the interest added directly to the locked savings balance, alongside the capital on which it was earned.
The main factor deciding how much interest a wallet holder earns is their account level, which is determined by how much RBIS they own. Whether the savings balance is in BTC, USD or any other popular FIAT or cryptocurrency, the interest rate on the plan will be higher the more RBIS the wallet owner holds.
Balances in RBIS make 3 times higher profits than balances in every other supported currency. Though, if the balance is kept in Ethereum, Ape Coin, or Euro, the savings plan can still earn a better profit if the interest is received in RBIS.
Buy a Coin Analysts Expect to Explode
Much of the news about the crypto market over the past year has been quite bleak, but there have been some bright spots.
So, why do certain coins have greater revenue potential in falling markets?
Well, we have already seen that the ArbiSmart project offers an attractive haven for crypto owners in a bear run, generating steady, predictable profits, whichever direction the market is heading. As the new wallet finds its footing and builds it userbase, increasing token demand more RBIS will be locked in savings plans and taken out of general circulation, diminishing the already finite token supply, and pushing up the price.
It is also critical to note that over the next four months, ArbiSmart will be introducing a series of new utilities, all of which will require use of RBIS and will drive the token price even higher. These include a mobile application, an NFT marketplace, a collection of original ArbiSmart NFT’s, a professional cryptocurrency exchange, a play-to-earn gaming metaverse and a decentralized yield farming service, which will offer unique gamification features and will reward liquidity providers with up to 190,000% APY plus 0.3% of the fees from every trade.
All these RBIS utilities will be interlinked and use of each additional ArbiSmart service will lead to even more preferential terms. For example, buying an NFT in the marketplace can deliver a higher APY for yield farmers, while also serving as a score-boosting in-game item in the meteaverse.
As the ArbiSmart interest-generating wallet and financial services ecosystem expands, more RBIS utilities are added and demand begins to exceed supply, the price is set to soar. It is therefore unsurprising that analysts have projected that ArbiSmart’s RBIS token will rise to 70 times the current value by Q1, 2023.
To start earning generous profits on your Bitcoin aand other assets, in all types of market conditions, open an interest-generating wallet today!

Asus Zenbook S13 OLED Review: Sleek And Powerful The Indian Express
Asus Zenbook S13 OLED Review: Sleek And Powerful – The Indian Express https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/asus-zenbook-s13-oled-review-sleek-and-powerful-the-indian-express/
When reviewing a laptop, there’s one aspect that I consider critical – the weight of the device. I prefer ultra-light laptops, more specifically those that don’t end up being a pain in the neck when carried around in a backpack. But often, lighter laptops mean compromising power and performance. However, the Asus Zenbook S 13 OLED is one such laptop – it is light (just 1.1kg), sports a premium design and does not compromise its performance in any way. Here’s my review.
Asus Zenbook S13 OLED specifications: 13.3-inch OLED touchscreen with 2.8K (2880 × 1800) resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio | Dolby Vision HDR | AMD Ryzen 7 6800U with Radeon Graphics at 2.70 GHz | 16GB RAM | 1TB storage | Zen-capped 180° hinge for flexibility | US MIL-STD 810H military-grade protection | Large 67 WHrs battery for long battery life, with 65W fast charging| Three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port| Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos surround sound | Fingerprint scanner with Windows Hello authentication | HD web with privacy shutter |
Asus Zenbook S13 OLED: Light, stylish
When I first opened the Zenbook S13 OLED, the stylish design and sleek form factor stood out the most. The laptop is just 14.9 mm in thickness and weighs just 1.1 kg. In contrast, the newer MacBook Air weighs around 1.24 kg. My own MacBook Air (M1 2020) is around 1.29 kg. So this is the lightest laptop I’ve had a chance to use in recent times.
The display on the Zenbook S13 OLED makes for an excellent viewing experience. (Image credit: Shruti Dhapola/Indian Express)
I have the ‘ponder blue’ option, which is a dark blue and grey mix and looks unique and stylish. The laptop has a magnesium and aluminium alloy chassis and a nice matte finish on top. More importantly, it has largely stayed smudge-free during my usage. What is interesting is that the Asus has also given this a 180-degree hinge, which ensures you can keep the screen flat. The hinge itself has a chrome finish, with a nice shine, and stands out. Asus also claims the laptop comes with a military-grade rating for durability, and to ensure protection against drops, etc. I’ve not put this bit to the test.
The laptop comes with a 13.3-inch OLED display, which is one of the brightest on a laptop. In fact, while working, I preferred to keep the brightness at under 50 per cent on this particular device. If you’re using this for daily work, whether it’s opening files on Word or PowerPoint, or even just casually watching Netflix, the display is excellent. It also comes with touchscreen support, and support for a Stylus Pen. The latter will be useful for those dealing with a lot of spreadsheets or those with more creative interests.

I wondered why a touchscreen is needed on a laptop, but the Asus ZenBook S13 convinced me it might be critical. I often relied on the touchscreen to open or close tabs or scroll up and down a page, as it seemed more convenient.
Asus Zenbook S13 OLED: Performance, Keyboard
This Zenbook is powered by the AMD Ryzen 7 6800U processor, which is equivalent to the Intel Core i7 (12th gen) in terms of performance. The laptop gave no trouble during my daily work usage, which typically involves many tabs being open on Chrome, photo editing, etc. The Zenbook S 13 OLED worked without any hiccups during my usage period, and there was no significant heating either. The laptop packs 16GB RAM and 1TB storage onboard, which should be enough for most users. The laptop has enough power to keep both business users and those with slightly more creative needs happy.
The keyboard on the Asus Zenbook S13 was fun to use. (Image credit: Shruti Dhapola/Indian Express)
The Zenbook S13 OLED also comes with a full-size keyboard and a large enough touchpad. There’s ample travel between the keys, which minimises errors and typos. There’s no stickiness as such, and the keys are responsive. Adjusting to this keyboard was not a problem for me. The touchpad is also quick to respond.
Asus Zenbook S13 OLED: Battery, Audio and I/O
The battery life on the Asus Zenbook S13 OLED is also impressive. It will easily last eight to ten hours with moderate to heavy-duty usage work. The 65W charger means you can get this laptop quickly juiced up in around 2 hours, a convenience which most users will appreciate.
The laptop packs powerful specifications for the price, which should be enough for most users. (Image credit: Shruti Dhapola/Indian Express)
What I didn’t care for so much was the audio on the laptop, which could have been louder. This was noticeable when I watched ‘Rick and Morty’ on the laptop, and felt I had to keep the audio full for the dialogues to be clear. This is not to say the audio quality is poor, but it is certainly not the best part about this laptop.
The laptop comes with three USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Type-C) for data/display/power. It also comes with a 3.5 mm combo audio jack, which should be enough for most users. But yes, given this has only Type-C ports, you might need to rely on some adapters.
Asus Zenbook S13 OLED: Verdict
At Rs 99,900, the Asus Zenbook S13 OLED is certainly not an ‘affordable’ laptop. This is meant for someone who does not mind paying a premium for a laptop with the best specifications and a stylish form factor. Norwegian Cruise Line To Eliminate Covid-19 Testing From 4 Oct – Travel Daily https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/norwegian-cruise-line-to-eliminate-covid-19-testing-from-4-oct-travel-daily/
Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has updated its global health and safety protocols by removing all COVID-19 testing, masking and vaccination requirements effective 4th October 2022.
Given the significant, positive progress in the public health environment, the cruise line updated its health and safety guidelines, which are now more aligned with other global travel organisations.
“Health and safety are always our first priority; in fact, we were the health and safety leaders from the very start of the pandemic,” said Harry Sommer, Norwegian Cruise Line president and chief executive officer. “Many travellers have been patiently waiting to take their long-awaited vacation at sea and we cannot wait to celebrate their return.”
With the easing of the cruise line’s health and safety protocols, NCL will continue to follow the travel guidelines as required by the destinations it visits.

VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS OCTOBER 6 – VietNamNet https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/vietnam-business-news-october-6-vietnamnet/
The COVID-19 pandemic has put the brake on Vietnam’s economic growth over the last two years but, on the other hand, it has also fueled a significant uptick in e-commerce which recorded a 16% growth to 13.7 billion USD in retail revenue in 2021, according to the White Book on Vietnamese E-business 2022.
Last year, the economic growth hit the lowest in 30 years, at just 2.58%, with key services sub-sectors experiencing downturn.
Data from the General Statistics Office showed that retailing and wholesaling declined 0.21% year-on-year, causing the economy to decrease 0.02 percentage point. Warehouse and logistics plunged 5.02% and lodging and catering services 20.81%, leading to a drop of 0.3% and 0.51%, respectively, to the GDP growth.
Meanwhile, the share of turnover from e-retailing to last year’s total retail sales of goods and services was 7%, a year-on-year rise of 27% from 2020.
E-retailing is forecast to surge 20% this year to 16.4 billion USD, compared to 5 billion USD in 2015. A 2022 study by big data analysis company Metric.vn indicated that Vietnam is emerging as the second largest e-commerce market in Southeast Asia, only after Indonesia.
The White Book on Vietnamese E-business 2022 also reported that with online marketplaces now a vital distribution channel in the era of digitalisation, Vietnamese enterprises are investing more on expanding their presence on these platforms.
MAERSK opens shipping route to Quang Ninh
MAERSK, the world’s largest container shipping company, has launched a new shipping route leading to the Cai Lan international container terminal in Halong City, Quang Ninh Province.
The launch followed the trial operation of a series of MAERSK vessels to the terminal, the local media reported.
A representative from the terminal said today, October 5, that the first MAERSK ship plying the route arrived at the terminal in late September. The route connecting China with Vietnam will see a MAERSK ship visit the Cai Lan terminal on a weekly basis.
MAERSK container vessels will depart from Hong Kong, China, arrive in Quang Ninh, run through the Tan Vu port in Haiphong, Yantian international container terminal, Ningbo and Shanghai, and return to Hong Kong.
MAERSK vessels will mainly transport dried items, machines and materials.
In addition, another international container shipping company, SITC, has operated a route on a trial basis with the Cai Lan terminal since August. The route links the Cat Lai port in HCMC, Jakarta in Indonesia, Bintulu in Malaysia, Xiamen in China, Incheon in South Korea, Shanghai in China and Quang Ninh.
In 2021, the Cai Lan international container terminal and two other ports in Vietnam were listed among 50 global terminals with the most effective operation by the World Bank and IHS Markit.
Deposit interest rates continue to rise
Viet Capital Bank has unveiled a certificate of deposit for individual and institutional customers with an interest rate of up to 8.4 per cent depending on the tenor.
Customers can buy CoDs for just VND10 million (US$417) and receive interest of 7.5 per cent, 7.8 per cent, 8 per cent, and 8.2 per cent for terms of six, nine, 12, and 15 months.
For 18-month term they can get 8.4 per cent.
After six months they can freely transfer the CoDs and still enjoy higher interest rates than ordinary savings deposits, a bank spokesperson said.
After the State Bank of Viet Nam raised its policy rate, many banks, including State-owned ones, have raised interest rates for dong deposits.
ABBANK has the highest rate of 8.8 per cent for 13-month deposits of VND500 billion ($20.8 million) and above.
Banks are also offering promotions to attract deposits.
For instance, from October 3 to December 30, customers who make deposits of VND25 million ($1,040) and above at Vietbank can receive gifts such as multi-function electric cooker, steam iron, vacuum cleaner, umbrella, kitchen cutting board, and others depending on the amount and term.
They can also participate in a lucky pin on the Vietbank digital app with prizes of thousands of e-vouchers worth from VND20,000 to VND1 million, and a lucky draw at the end of the programme with prizes worth a total of VND6.5 billion, including a cash prize of VND1 billion, nine first prizes of 0.6 tael of gold each and 18 second prizes of VND20 million each.
As of September 20 this year deposit mobilisation by credit institutions increased by 4.04 per cent while credit growth was 10.54 per cent.
The rapid increase in credit has put pressure on banks’ liquidity.
ACB Securities said the credit cap would be increased by 2 per cent in the last quarter, while the SBV would continue to sell US dollars to keep the exchange rate in check, which would also put pressure on dong liquidity.
Public spending is expected to spurt in the remaining months of the year, meaning the money held by the State Treasury in banks will be drawn.
Due to these factors, ACBS said, banks would probably increase deposit interest rates by another 0.5 percentage points this year to ensure liquidity.
FLC appoints two new deputy general directors
Le Doan Linh and Nguyen Chi Cong have been named as new deputy general directors at FLC Group, with effect from today, October 5.
The two have been working and contributing to the development of FLC over the years, according to the group.
Before taking up the new post, Le Doan Linh served as head of investment division No.2 at FLC, while Nguyen Chi Cong was head of the FLC’s finance division. These two divisions play a crucial role in the strategic planning and project development, as well as ensuring adequate resources for FLC in its business operations, said the group.
Besides, Linh and Cong had worked as top executives in investment, finance, project management and development at many Vietnamese enterprises.
FLC has chosen them as the new deputy general directors at a time when three FLC deputy general directors resigned in 80 days. Among them, Vu Dang Hai Yen quit the post on July 14, La Quy Hien resigned on September 15, and the most recent one, Vo Thi Thuy Duong, on October 1.

Yeah1 set to transfer 85% stake in YAG Entertainment
Yeah1 Group Corporation (YEG) plans to transfer 1,564,000 shares at YAG Entertainment JSC, which is 85% owned by Yeah1.
Yeah1 is expected to transfer the amount of shares this month, the local media reported.
If the deal is done, YAG Entertainment will no longer be Yeah1’s subsidiary.
As of June 30 this year, Yeah1 was holding a 99.7% stake in YAG Entertainment, which is headquartered in HCMC and operates in marketing.
YAG Entertainment was established on July 18, 2018, with Luu Anh Khoa being the legal representative.

Yeah1 looks to earn VND588 billion in revenue and VND24.7 billion in after-tax profit in 2022.
Jan-Sept farm trade surplus hits US$6.9 billion
Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fishery trade surplus in January-September doubled year-on-year to US$6.9 billion, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
In the first nine months, the total import-export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products was about US$74.7 billion. Exports rose 15.2% to US$40.8 billion, while imports grew 5.7% to US$33.9 billion, resulting in a US$6.9 billion trade surplus.

In the period, farm exports brought in US$16.8 billion, forestry exports US$13.3 billion and fishery exports over US$8.5 billion.
The U.S. was the largest buyer of Vietnam’s agro-forestry and fishery products with US$10.5 billion, or 25.8% of the total, followed by China with a share of 18.2%, and Japan and South Korea with 7.6% and 4.7%, respectively.
Danang sees strong economic rebound
Danang City’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the January-September period was 16.76% higher than in the same period in 2021, with services spearheading growth.
Danang’s economy is now valued at VND92,238 billion, increasing by VND14,808 billion year-on-year. The city’s growth was robust in the first three quarters of 2022, hitting about 1.0%, 12.3% and 39.2%, respectively.
Tourism and travel-related services have been the key pillar of Danang’s economy to overcome obsta...
7 Steps To Fuel Your Body – Massage Magazine https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/7-steps-to-fuel-your-body-massage-magazine/
Food represents and provides many things: energy, nutrition, culture, celebration, enjoyment and even medicine. Technically, food breaks into five fundamental categories that we need in proper proportions to fuel our body for optimal health and wellness: macro-nutrients including carbohydrates, fats and proteins, and micro-nutrients including vitamins and minerals.
Eating Habits Matter
We all witness the negative consequences of poor eating habits. The U.S. is one of the unhealthiest nations in the world; with such diet-related diseases as heart disease and cancer being the number-one killers (absent a pandemic).
Good eating habits are core to good nutrition, and nutrition is central to our health and wellness. The benefits of proper nutrition are powerful: heart health, lower blood pressure, reduced cancer risk, lowered cholesterol, weight management, improved sleep, diabetes avoidance, strong bones and teeth, gut health, even-better mood and improved memory.
Emerging research demonstrates that good nutrition together with lifestyle choices can even counteract a genetic predisposition toward a disease state. Experts have a saying, “Genetics loads the gun, but the environment pulls the trigger.”That means if we have the genes, our environment, including eating choices, may be the only thing standing between us and developing a chronic condition.
There is evidence that one can turn off a negative gene marker through positive lifestyle choices. This is truly good news, indicating we have great influence over our current and future health.
Yet, the reality is too many people do not receive the nutrition their bodies require from the food they eat due to factors like limited time, family constraints, lack of convenience, familiar habits, awareness, as well as taste preferences.
Have you heard the adage: “You are what you eat”? This is a half-truth. The full truth is, “We are what we digest and absorb.” Ideally, we receive the vast majority of our required macro- and micro-nutrients through the real, whole, natural and fresh food that we eat.
For example, it is easier for your body to use vitamins and minerals that come from a balanced diet rather than from supplements, according to a clinical professor Emma Laing, PhD, RDN. Compounds in fruits and vegetables work synergistically to promote wellness and these cannot be replicated in a dietary supplement.
The Problem with Processed Foods
Refined and processed foods, meaning altered from their natural state, will never be as absorbable, digestible and healthy as Mother Nature’s offerings. Consider the relationship between the surge in diet diseases and the evolution of our food chain. Less than 50 years ago most food was locally sourced and largely fresh, while today, most food is non-local, largely processed and full of additives.
Refined or processed food almost universally involves removing fiber and nutrients while inserting seasonings and additives. Why? Fiber is difficult to preserve, so it is removed to improve shelf stability. And seasonings, disproportionately sugar and salt, lead to preferred taste, driving demand. As we eat more processed and packaged foods that are higher in these additives and devoid of fiber, it often leads to long-term nutritional gaps and poor health.
I believe one reason I used to consistently overeat was because my body was craving the nutrients it was not always receiving. A fundamental step for me in reversing my overeating was shifting to more of a plant-based diet. While I did not set out to drop pounds, I began to lose weight by feeding my body more of what it needed, making it easier to eat less.
7 Steps to Help You Fuel Your Body
Here are seven tips leading to healthy eating habits. Pick and choose what works for you, repeat and be patient with yourself as any improvement to your proper fueling is hugely beneficial.
1. Embrace moderation. Eat a little bit of everything and not too much of anything, with just one exception …
2. Eat lots of veggies, every day! As wide a variety as possible, as many colors as possible. The longest-living populations around the world share a common dietary characteristic—they all eat a largely whole-food, plant-based diet.
3. Focus on food, not nutrients. Concentrate on eating fresh (versus preserved), whole (versus refined), natural (versus modified) foods whenever possible, and the nutrients will take care of themselves.
4. Eat what makes you happy. Remember to balance both immediate and long-term happiness. Might you want a treat for immediate taste-bud pleasure? Go ahead and occasionally indulge. Also be mindful of your body as that healthy salad will make your body happy long-term. Part of moderation is finding your best balance between happy now and happy later.
5. Embrace the bitter. Raw kale, spinach, collard greens and other leafy-green superfoods have a bitter taste, which can be acquired. (Remember, there likely are items in your current diet that were also acquired tastes you chose to nurture, like coffee, alcohol, raw oysters, sushi and blue cheese.)
My express lane to acquiring a taste for bitter was through a daily veggie smoothie brimming with natural, whole-food fiber and nutrition. It’s like drinking a healthy salad for breakfast every day. Initially nasty, then tolerable and now enjoyable! Find your own way to tolerating, if not embracing, bitter. To help you get started, here is my favorite Green Smoothie recipe:
Green Smoothie Recipe
Cut, combine, and blend the following until smooth:
• Five to six stalks of celery (remove any leaves)
• Five to six inches of cucumber (English cucumber seeds are more easily digested)
• Two handfuls of spinach
• One avocado
• One handful of collard greens (can substitute swiss chard)
• One handful of kale
• One handful of cilantro
• Portion of or full fresh jalapeno pepper (to achieve desired flavor)
• Water to achieve your desired consistency (I use 2 ¾ cups)
• Personal preferences: Include all stalks for fiber benefit, use organic produce, and substitute one cup of bone broth (reducing water the same amount)
6. Make your environment work for you, not against you. Simply remove non-desired items from your environment and replace these with healthy options that make your road to better eating habits a smoother ride.
7. Engage a like-minded friend who can support you, encourage accountability, even let you vent when you feel challenged or had a setback. We all need cheerleaders to reach lasting change.
Nutritious and Delicious
Healthy food is nutritious—and can also be delicious! Best wishes on developing better eating habits to fuel your daily performance.

Steve Brownlee
I wanted to look at some light-hearted or humorous story to start off this week’s Armchair Quarterback, and after scanning a list of AP stories, I thought I found it:
Elon Musk will, after all, spend his agreed-upon price of $44 billion to buy Twitter.
Geez, I don’t know if I’d pay more than $40 billion.
But that’s not as humorous a story in itself as much as my thinking that I would ever swim in that kind of money.
Instead, a “real” sports story from Monday afternoon struck me as funny:
The county prosecutor in Cleveland has opened an investigation into a walleye tournament with some “fishy” things going on.
It seems there’s video on Twitter — not yet Elon Musk’s personal property — showing the tournament director for the Lake Erie Walleye Trail cutting open the winning catch on Friday and finding lead weights and prepared fish filets inside.
OK, I can see the lead weights, but fish filets — eat those for dinner! Instead, put some dog food or cat food inside the unnaturally heavy fish, why dontcha?
Now Ohio Department of Natural Resources officers are gathering evidence for the local prosecutor.
“I take all crime seriously, including attempted felony theft at a fishing tournament,” Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley is quoted as saying. “These individuals will be held accountable.”
So I guess making bad NFL picks isn’t such a crime compared to what these dufuses were up to (I had to look that word up online a couple different ways to even get close to spelling it the right way):
——————–
Indianapolis at Denver — Two teams on a downward spiral, and I hear that Denver’s dynamic running back Javonte Williams is out for the season. But I also heard that Indy’s top back Jonathan Taylor is dinged up. Just to make it easy, I’ll simply go for the home team. Broncos, 24-17.
——————–
Sunday, 9:30 a.m.
New York Giants at Green Bay — Something tells me a veteran team will better handle all the changes to routine when making a trip across the pond and playing at quite an odd time.
Don’t forget to set your alarm! Packers, 33-23.
——————–
Sunday, 1 p.m.
Pittsburgh at Buffalo — Buffalo has played two bad first halves in a row, so I see an emphasis on getting off to a fast start. Bills, 34-20.
——————–
Los Angeles Chargers at Cleveland — You’ve always got to be wary when a West Coast team is playing what is to them a 10 a.m. game across the country. But I just think this L.A. team is too much for a town now best known for its crooked fishing tournaments. Chargers, 27-24.
——————–
Houston at Jacksonville — The Texans aren’t getting blown out, evidenced by their only being outscored by 20 points despite a paltry 0-3-1 record, the worst in the NFL. But they aren’t winning, either. Jaguars, 26-22.
——————–
Chicago at Minnesota — Walking in Army boots is fine when it’s muddy in the woods, but not when you’re running on someone’s lawn next to world-class athletes wearing whatever the latest in UnderArmour and Nike athletic wear is. That’s the Bears wearing the boots, by the way. Vikings, 30-17.
——————–
Detroit at New England — They better watch out or they’re going to change the name of the team to “Etroit” Lions since the “D” has apparently been lost somewhere along Woodward Avenue.
It’s too bad as the 1-3 Lions have the No. 1 scoring offense in the league — 11 points better than even Kansas City — but are 32nd in points allowed, a whopping 26 points worse than all others.
Looking at it more closely, eight NFL teams have given up less than half as many points as “Etroit”s 141, and a couple of others are half a point away from that distinction.
If anyone can take advantage of a team like this, I would think it’s Bill Belichick in New England. Patriots, 34-28.
——————–
Seattle at New Orleans — I’ll buy the Kool-Aid after Seattle came to Detroit and won, considering the mess the Saints look to be in. Seahawks, 28-24.
——————–
Miami at New York Jets — This New York outfit has been up and down, while the Dolphins look down with Tua Tagovailoa still out with his concussion(s). Jets, 23-19.
——————–
Atlanta at Tampa Bay — I have to say I’m more impressed with Tampa’s 10-point loss to KC on Sunday than I am with the Falcons’ 3-point win against Cleveland. Buccaneers, 21-17.
——————–
Tennessee at Washington — Despite Houston having the worst record in the league, I’d put the 1-3 Commanders atop my list of the worst actual teams. Titans, 27-19.
——————–
Sunday, 4 p.m.
San Francisco at Carolina — Trap game alert! On paper, the 49ers are SO far ahead of Carolina, but whenever Baker Mayfield gets backed in a corner, he seems to play his best. However, San Fran’s ball-control game might work here, even coming off a short week on the road. 49ers, 23-16.
——————–
Philadelphia at Arizona — It’s a battle of running quarterbacks. The difference is that while Cardinals QB Kyler Murray runs for his life in the backfield, Philly’s Jalen Hurts runs through and around D-linemen and linebackers for massive gains downfield. Eagles, 37-24.
——————–
Dallas at Los Angeles Rams — Apparently the Rams were exposed Monday night as having no weapons and no offensive line. Cowboys, 28-18.
——————–
Sunday, 8:20 p.m.
Cincinnati at Baltimore — I will agree that Lamar Jackson is the most dynamic, really the best QB in the league right now. But with only Detroit keeping the Ravens’ defense from doing total bottom dwelling, Cincy’s Joe Burrow might stay upright this time around. Bengals, 32-27.
——————–
Monday, 8:15 p.m.
Las Vegas at Kansas City — Not betting against the No. 2 offense against any kind of Raiders defense. Chiefs, 33-26.
——————–
Last week — 11-5, 69 percent (first winning week this season). Season — 32-31-1, 51 percent.

Teaser images for Kakao Entertainment’s ″Re:verse″ [KAKAO ENTERTAINMENT]
Kakao Entertainment will begin airing a K-pop metaverse survival show called “Re:verse” on Nov. 28, the company said Thursday.
The show is likened to a mix of girl group aespa’s alter-ego avatars, Mnet’s hit K-pop survival show franchise “Produce 101” (2016-19) and MBC’s singing competition show “King of Mask Singer” (2015-), in which contestants mask their identity until they have been eliminated.
“Re:verse” centers on 30 girl group members who compete with each other in a metaverse called “W” to grab the chance to form a new virtual K-pop group.
“Contestants will hide their actual identity in the metaverse and only show their dance and singing skills, as well as their charms, through their virtual characters,” Kakao Entertainment said.
Each round will include votes from viewers, which will take place on the Kakao Page app.
“Re:verse” is set to include technology like virtual reality and motion capture technology. When contestants dance or make certain facial expressions, the technology will capture it in real time and broadcast it through the avatar.
Only eliminated players will reveal their actually identity.
Viewers will, however, be able to guess who each contestant is as the show plans on reflecting the actual singers’ characteristics in each of their avatars.

Online fans lost their minds when actress Tori Spelling presented a clue to Harp’s identity that consisted of a box of purple mashed potatoes, with one viewer theorizing: “Amber Riley…purple mashed potatoes stand for the purple piano on Glee where they did mashups.”
The Masked Singer airs on Wednesday nights at 8pm ET on FOX.

Season eight’s judges
Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke have all returned as judges this season of The Masked Singer.
Who went home last week?
Two masked singers were unmasked and eliminated last week.
The Pi-Rat was eliminated and revealed to be Jeff Dunham
The Panther was eliminated and revealed to be Montell Jordan.
‘Sleeper-hit’ host
Season eight of The Masked Singer sees seven-time host Nick Cannon returning to emcee the series for another edition.
Cannon was first offered the hosting gig in 2018 and saw immediate potential in the show’s concept.
He revealed to Variety: “I thought that this idea is so crazy, it’s either going to be a huge failure or a huge hit.
“Luckily for me, it was the latter. But that’s confirmation of the type of creator and entertainer that I am. I’ve always been the sleeper-hit guy.”
First judge on the panel
In November 2017, FOX began developing an American version of the South Korean reality show The King of Mask Singer.
In 2018, Crazy Rich Asians star Ken Jeong was the first celebrity to sign on to The Masked Singer’s judging panel.
Regarding the decision, Ken told Gold Derby: “When I was offered to be on it, I asked my mom.
“I’m of Korean descent and my mum still gets all her Korean TV shows via satellite.
“She was like ‘you’ve got to do it. It’s a huge hit. It’s gonna help your career.”
The actor stated: “I’m not qualified to be on that show. I’m not a trained singer.
“So I was very loose about it. I felt I was the Homer Simpson of the show. The producers enjoy the stupidity I bring to the show.”
Contestants get paid to appear
While there is no grand prize, the contestants are paid to appear on the show.
The contestants are paid per week for the episodes they appear on, and receive a signing bonus.
Each contestant has no definitive salary, but the dollar amount most likely varies.
As with other similar shows, the weekly salary and signing bonus vary with the magnitude of the star performing.
The Masked Singer is based on a Korean show
The viral competition program is inspired by the South Korean show King of Masked Singer, which debuted in 2015.
The candidates in the American series are dressed in full-body costumes, but the contestants in the South Korean version are generally dressed in masks and large clothes.
According to Insider, the program was such a smash in South Korea that it has been remade in China, Vietnam, and Thailand.
How The Masked Singer works, continued
Following the performances, the audience and panelists use an electronic gadget to vote for their favorite performer.
The show employs a weighted voting method, in which each panelist and audience member’s vote is worth 50 percent of the total score.
The competitor with the lowest popularity removes their disguise to reveal their true identity.
This process of elimination continues for a certain number of episodes until only three participants remain in the season finale, after which one is named the champion when they perform once more.
As a prize, the Golden Mask trophy is presented to the winner.
How The Masked Singer works
Each season of The Masked Singer has a different cast of celebrities.
In an episode, four to six competitors sing a 90-second cover song in costume for panelists and an audience.
Before and after each performance, hints – or clue packages – about their identities are presented.
A filmed interview with a celebrity’s electronically disguised voice narrating a video with subtle allusions to what they are renowned for is a recurring format.
The judges are given the opportunity to guess each singer’s identity out loud and record remarks in note binders during screenings of the clue packages, following performances, and before each elimination.
Costume designer, continued
As a result, Toybina may create several variations before deciding which would be exhibited throughout a season.
Participants are given numerous options to choose from based on their history and what could fit them best.
Their reasons for wearing a costume vary; some have an emotional attachment to it.
Others, on the other hand, prefer to be able to roam around freely throughout performances.
Masked Singer costume designer identity revealed
Marina Toybina created the series’ costumes. She incorporates celebrity and producer requests in addition to her own thoughts while generating early proposals.
By employing diverse stitching and construction techniques, each is intended to stand out from those seen in prior seasons and other iterations of the Masked Singer series.
Toybina drafts each concept with a pencil and works with an illustrator to make a digital version with a 3D look after researching fur and skin textures, historical dresses, and everything that could be related to each character.
Producers go over each design and make notes on what needs to be changed.
Who is Daymond John?
Daymond John is a branding expert and one of the stars of ABC’s Shark Tank.
It is believed that businessman and motivational speaker Daymond John has a net worth of $350million.
“Daymond John has come a long way from turning a $40 budget into FUBU, a $6 billion fashion game-changer,” reads his website.
“Throughout his career, Daymond has continued to be an entrepreneur in every sense of the word.
“He is not only a pioneer in the fashion industry but a Shark on the 4-time Emmy Award winning Shark Tank, a New York Times best-selling author, branding guru, and highly sought-after motivational speaker.”
FUBU is an American hip hop apparel company launched by John and others. FUBU stands for “For Us, By Us.”
Kevin McHale convinced the Harp is co-star
In a posted on his account yesterday, Glee star Kevin McHale shared a video of himself reacting to The Harp’s performance of I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston on The Masked Singer last week, and he seemed to know who was behind the mask.
The video was captioned, with a sarcastic undertone: “Check out this brand new singer.”
Throughout the video, he made facial expressions of feigned surprise as he sung along to the song he believed was sung by his former Glee co-star Amber Riley.
Who is Ken Jeong? part three
Tran Ho, Jeong’s wife, is a breast cancer survivor and a Vietnamese American family physician.
Zooey and Alexa are their twin children, born in 2007.
Jeong lives in Calabasas, California, with his family.
Who is Ken Jeong?
Ken Jeong is an American stand-up comedian, actor, producer, writer, television personality, and licensed physician, who was born on July 13, 1969.
He became well-known for his roles as Leslie Chow in The Hangover films and Ben Chang in the NBC sitcom Community.
He starred in the ABC comedy Dr. Ken, in which he developed, wrote, and produced, and he has also acted in the films Knocked Up, Role Models, Furry Vengeance), The Duff, Ride Along 2, Crazy Rich Asians, and Tom & Jerry.

How did Bob Saget die?
Bob Saget passed away at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando, Florida.
The police and the fire department responded to the hotel around 4pm ET after a security team member found him unresponsive during a welfare check.
He was declared dead at the scene and a preliminary autopsy was performed on the morning of January 10 and said, “At this time, there is no evidence of drug use or foul play.”
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office told The Sun, “We can confirm that the cause of death was related to internal bleeding from the brain after it appeared Mr. Saget hit his head on something in his hotel room.
“There was a bruise discovered on the back of his neck. No narcotics or alcohol were found in Mr. Saget’s system.
“We believe he did not understand the severity of the internal damage done and fell asleep soon after.”
Ken Jeong breaks into tears
After Harp’s beautiful rendition of the Full House theme song, Ken Jeong cried and said how emotional he was watching Jodie Sweetin sing along.
The comedian went on to say that “our friend” Bob Saget is looking down with pride on the singers.

Crypto News: 51% Of Daily Bitcoin Volume On Crypto Exchanges Are Fake, Says Report
New Delhi: More than 51 per cent of the total Bitcoin trading volume on various crypto exchanges this year is fake amid volatile global economic conditions, a new report has claimed. Bitcoin is the blue chip of cryptocurrency and represents 40 per cent of the total crypto assets outstanding in the new and volatile crypto markets. Its market cap is currently at 382.25 billion. Also Read – TATA Vs TATA Coin: Delhi HC Grants Former’s Appeal Against The Cryptocurrency
According to data provided by niche news publisher BanklessTimes.com, the majority of this fake Bitcoin volume is due to wash trading. Also Read – RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das Calls Cryptocurrency ‘Clear Danger’; What Do Experts Say? Know Here
Wash trading is illegal, where an asset is bought and sold simultaneously on the same platform to create false liquidity. This is often done by bots or spoofing orders. Also Read – Crypto Crash: Indian Investors Lost Nearly Rs 1,000 Crore To Fake Cryptocurrency Exchanges
“It’s difficult to talk about cryptocurrency without talking about Bitcoin. Yet, there is a concern that a large part of the daily traded volume of Bitcoin is fake. This puts into question the legitimacy of exchanges and the reliability of data,” said Jonathan Merry, CEO of BanklessTimes.
Another factor contributing to the fake volume is stable coins such as Tether (USDT).
Tether pairs very well with Bitcoin and is often used to buy and sell Bitcoin on exchanges.
“This results in much volume being generated without any actual Bitcoin changing hands,” said the report.
According to the report, faking trading volume can be a way for exchanges to attract new customers.
By appearing to be more popular than they actually are, exchanges can trick investors into thinking there is more activity and liquidity on their platform.
Another reason people might engage in wash trading is to prop up the price of a particular asset, according to the report.
By buying and selling the asset simultaneously, they can create the illusion of demand and drive up the price. This can be done for personal gain or artificially inflate an asset’s price before selling it.
“Investors should be wary of exchanges that report false figures. You must do your research and only use exchanges you trust,” the report suggested.

U.S. Delivers Angry Rebuke Of Massive OPEC+ Production Cut — And It Could Backfire For Saudi Arabia – CNBC https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/u-s-delivers-angry-rebuke-of-massive-opec-production-cut-and-it-could-backfire-for-saudi-arabia-cnbc/
Energy analysts believe the deep production cuts could yet backfire for OPEC kingpin and U.S. ally Saudi Arabia.

The White House angrily pushed back at OPEC+ after the oil producer group announced its largest supply cut since 2020, lashing out at what President Joe Biden’s administration described as a “shortsighted” decision that came despite U.S. pressure to pump more to help the global economy.
Energy analysts believe the deep production cuts could yet backfire for OPEC kingpin and U.S. ally Saudi Arabia, particularly as Biden hinted Congress would soon seek to rein in the Middle East-dominated group’s influence over energy prices.
OPEC and non-OPEC allies, a group often referred to as OPEC+, agreed on Wednesday to reduce oil production by 2 million barrels per day from November. The move is designed to spur a recovery in oil prices, which had fallen to roughly $80 a barrel from more than $120 in early June.
International benchmark Brent crude futures traded at $93.53 a barrel during Thursday morning deals in London, up around 0.2%. U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures, meanwhile, stood at $87.83, almost 0.1% higher.
The U.S. had repeatedly called on the energy alliance, which includes Russia, to pump more to lower fuel prices ahead of midterm elections next month.
In a statement, the White House said Biden was “disappointed by the shortsighted decision by OPEC+ to cut production quotas while the global economy is dealing with the continued negative impact of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.”
It added that Biden had directed the Department of Energy to release another 10 million barrels from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve next month.
“In light of today’s action, the Biden Administration will also consult with Congress on additional tools and authorities to reduce OPEC’s control over energy prices,” the White House said.
Today’s dog whistle may be interpreted as a sign that the President will not necessarily stand in the way of a floor vote on the bill that would declare OPEC a cartel and subject the members to Sherman anti-trust legislation.
Helima Croft
RBC Capital Markets
Strategists led by Helima Croft at RBC Capital Markets said that while the U.S. signaled further Strategic Petroleum Reserve releases were in the offing, they were unlikely to see another blockbuster release in the near term.
“A more clear risk, in our view, is the introduction of US product export restrictions in a rising retail gasoline price environment,” analysts at RBC Capital Markets said.
“Congressional action on NOPEC legislation also looks like a credible outcome in light of the NSC statement about working with Congress to reduce OPEC’s overall influence on the oil market. White House opposition to NOPEC has served as a restraining influence on Congressional leaders,” they continued.
“Today’s dog whistle may be interpreted as a sign that the President will not necessarily stand in the way of a floor vote on the bill that would declare OPEC a cartel and subject the members to Sherman anti-trust legislation.”
What is NOPEC?
The No Oil Producing and Exporting Cartels, or NOPEC, bill is designed to protect U.S. consumers and businesses from artificial oil spikes.
The U.S. legislation, which passed a Senate committee in early May but has not yet been signed into law, could expose OPEC countries and partners to lawsuits for orchestrating supply cuts that raise global crude prices.
To take effect, the bill would need to be passed by the full Senate and the House, before being signed into law by the president.
Top OPEC ministers have previously criticized the NOPEC bill, warning the U.S. legislation would bring greater chaos to energy markets.
Speaking at a news conference in Vienna, Austria, on Wednesday, Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman said, “We will continuously prove that OPEC+ is here not only to stay but here to stay as a moderating force to bring about stability.”
OPEC Secretary-General Haitham Al Ghais also defended the group’s decision to impose deep output cuts, saying the alliance was seeking to provide “security [and] stability to the energy markets.”
Asked by CNBC’s Hadley Gamble whether OPEC+ was doing so at a price, Al Ghais replied: “Everything has a price. Energy security has a price as well.”
OPEC+ decision ‘cannot stand’
Energy analysts said the actual impact of the group’s supply cuts for November was likely to be limited, with unilateral reductions by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and Kuwait likely to do the main job.
What’s more, analysts said it is currently difficult for OPEC+ to form a view more than a month or two into the future as the energy market faces the uncertainty of more European sanctions on non-OPEC producer Russia — including on shipping insurance, price caps and reduced petroleum imports.
Oil prices have fallen to roughly $80 from over $120 in early June amid growing fears about the prospect of a global economic recession.

Speaking at a news conference during a visit to Chile, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Wednesday that Washington has made its views clear to OPEC members.
Asked whether he was specifically disappointed with U.S. ally Saudi Arabia, Blinken replied, “We have a multiplicity of interests with regard to Saudi Arabia and I think the President laid those out during his trip.”
These include improving relations between Arab countries and Israel, Yemen and working closely with Riyadh to try to continue the truce, Blinken said.
“But we are working every single day to make sure to the best of our ability that, again, energy supply from wherever is actually meeting demand in order to ensure that energy is on the market and that prices are kept low.”
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., said via Twitter: “OPEC’s decision to cutback on production is a blatant attempt to increase gas prices at the pump that cannot stand.”
“We must end OPEC’s illegal price-fixing cartel, eliminate military assistance to Saudi Arabia, and move aggressively to renewable energy,” he added.
ZeroAvia Reinforces Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Technology Position With HyPoint Acquisition Flightglobal
ZeroAvia Reinforces Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Technology Position With HyPoint Acquisition – Flightglobal https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/zeroavia-reinforces-hydrogen-fuel-cell-technology-position-with-hypoint-acquisition-flightglobal/
Future propulsion innovator ZeroAvia has wholly acquired the fuel-cell stack specialist HyPoint, to reinforce its hydrogen-electric product line.
ZeroAvia is developing powertrains for hydrogen-fuelled engines and has co-operated closely with HyPoint, particularly in the UK, over the last couple of years.
The acquisition follows a previous tie-up, aimed at developing fuel-cell stacks, with Scandinavian energy company PowerCell Sweden.
Terms of the HyPoint agreement have not been disclosed.
But ZeroAvia says it gives the company access to HyPoint’s high-temperature fuel-cell technology, describing it as a “promising avenue” to increased energy density and power output.
ZeroAvia chief Val Miftakhov, who was already on HyPoint’s advisory board, says the deal is a “hugely important strategic step” to consolidate its position in hydrogen-electric powertrain development for the aviation sector.
“There are no other organisations with the breadth of expertise and world-leading intellectual property in hydrogen-electric aviation that we now have within the company,” he adds.
HyPoint’s engineering team will join the ZeroAvia hydrogen power-generation systems division, and all 40 personnel associated with HyPoint will be integrated with ZeroAvia across UK sites in Gloucestershire and Kent.
ZeroAvia says HyPoint chief Alex Ivanenko will become general manager for VTOL and new segment development, focused on rotorcraft and other activities beyond the fixed-wing propulsion sector.
“HyPoint has garnered recognition as an innovator developing technology with the potential to significantly expedite the introduction of fuel cell propulsion into larger aircraft,” says ZeroAvia, which has been working on adapting its hydrogen-electric engine technology to Dornier 228s.
Ivanenko states that the acquisition is a “natural next chapter” for HyPoint, enabling it to take advantage of ZeroAvia’s resources.
“It will accelerate our product development and, as a result, partners from different market segments will get mature products based on novel [high-temperature] hydrogen fuel cells,” he adds.

Best Places To Travel In Egypt For College Students | 2022 – A Broken Backpack https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/best-places-to-travel-in-egypt-for-college-students-2022-a-broken-backpack/
College students face many challenges in school: doing homework, tackling complex projects, writing papers, meeting deadlines, and more things that help them graduate and get a promising career.
However, it’s worth noting that university is more than deadlines and studies. It is also about socializing, meeting other people, trips, and having fun. For instance, the ancient history nation of the sphinx, and mysteries, is one of the greatest destinations to visit as a college student. The country has a lot of things that will give visitors unforgettable memories and experiences. In this article, we’ve curated the sights and top places you must stop by when traveling in this nation.
Think of your trip as a way of taking a break from all the tough times as an undergraduate. If the lecturer has given you work for holidays, you can consider turn to a website that writes essays to complete these assignments. No need to worry about school work when having the time of your life!” recommends Austin Martin, a writer at PapersOwl. Your journey needs to be stress-free and memorable.
Cairo – Home Of The Last Remaining Wonder Of The World
The town is a travel destination where different faiths exist and the narrative is defined by stones from Mosque minarets and church foundations. It’s a massive city with widespread Islamic and Coptic regions.
It has many tourist attractions such as Hanging Church, Bacchus Church – the Holy Family came here to rest on their way from Israel, Church of St George, etc. Other incredible targets for college students to explore are Tanner Monastery, built into the rock, Garbage City, etc.
Giza Pyramids Necropolis
It’s always great to look at the Seven Wonders of the earliest times that still exist. The great pyramid is unimaginable. Archaeologists estimate that natives used around 2.5 million stone pieces to build this structure. When you see how small you’re compared to a single stone, you’ll be delighted by the magnificent size of the architecture.
Egyptian Museum Visit and Egyptian Museum Mummy Room
It is one of the most celebrated things. College students will find excellent exhibitions with mummies, 120K artifacts, pottery, jewelry, and lost treasures of pharaohs. Tour the Mummy Room and Tutankhamun tomb, where ancient Egypt’s famous leaders, such as Ramesses ii are located.
Alexandria – European Character And Mystery
Most people list this city, the home of Cleopatra and Anthony, as one of the towns on their wish list. There are tombs here yet to be discovered. However, this does not make this city any less superb. You will experience a wide range of archeological treasures while enjoying the cool seaside breeze.
Pompey’s Pillar
The pillar might appear short because it stands near modern buildings, but it still stands proud. It’s 20 meters tall, built-in 297 AD, and was once part of a massive Roman building. It was made for Emperor Diocletian and is one of the most extensive monolithic columns.
Library Of Alexandria
Touring a library is always interesting, especially among learners. Although you will not be going there to study, the size and beauty make it one of the best places for college students to travel when they are on holiday. It is filled with unique cultural centres and sections. The area has different antiques and manuscripts.
Abu Simbel Temples
The pharaoh nation is well known for its appreciable architecture, and this is a good example. It will mostly interest lovers of the past. It was built in the 13th century and hidden in the sand for many years until one explorer discovered it. It’s 20 meters tall and very gorgeous. Its entry fee is approximately $10.
The Red Sea
You can enjoy a real vacation by swimming, sunbathing, and doing more water activities here. It features dolphins, sandy beaches, beautiful reefs, and more attractions. The whole expedition is full of memories and will make your holiday bliss.
The Western Desert
The site has an extensive national park with shiny sand, rock structures, and high statues, which make it excellent for camping. Individuals can camp here for a little fee when they bring your tent.
The Nile River
The Nile River is one of the great places to visit while in the country. You can watch alligators and other hidden gems or take a daily Nile cruise which is a calming way to view shrines on the east and west bank. You can also see the dunes during sunset or sunrise and take excellent photos.
Final Thoughts
Escaping through shrine corridors, entering tombs, and experiencing the crossing of religious and historical timelines in scripture and structures writings, deciding the place to voyage in the North African country can be challenging. However, you can use the guide of companies such as Memphis tours to make your holiday easier. They will narrow down all these areas and save you a lot of cash and time.
If you use the route that covers significant areas like Luxor and Aswan, you’ll cover a lot of historic sites, including the valley of the kings, unfinished obelisk, Philae temple, and more.
You deserve to see as many as possible because each is unique. From those with multi-layered details from back in the day, you will still marvel at how humans built these structures or how the paintings and carvings have survived and looked like they were kept there a few years ago. You will not stop staring at the Karnak and Ramses or the murals.

Ghana Government Asked To Address Poverty And Rising Inequalities Ghana Business News
Ghana Government Asked To Address Poverty And Rising Inequalities – Ghana Business News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/ghana-government-asked-to-address-poverty-and-rising-inequalities-ghana-business-news/
Bishop Naameh
Most Reverend Philip Naameh, the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, has called on the government to address the rising poverty levels and discrimination in the distribution of state resources to avoid insurgency.
He said: “Poverty and rising inequalities have fostered a culture of hopelessness in our Ghanaian communities, and this has contributed to the recruitment of many of the youth into violent activities, putting the country at risk of external attacks.”
Most Rev Naameh underscored the urgent need for government to distribute development fairly among all groups to avoid widespread perception of discrimination and exclusion among the citizens, to strengthen the peace and social cohesion.
Speaking at the launch of the Sahel Peace Initiative (SPI) Phase II at Bolgatanga, in the Upper East Region, Most Reverend Naameh who is also the Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale Catholic Diocese, noted that the high unemployment, corruption and unequal access to capital leading to unrest in some Sahelian countries also affected Ghana.
He said there had not been a comprehensive agenda to create enabling environment, particularly for the youth to thrive and that had made them vulnerable to attempts by terrorists’ groups to be recruited to cause instability.
“Once we create this vulnerability for our youth and many of our citizens, then, we invite the conflict even without intending it.
“Evidence of this is the reported incidents of activities of extremists in some neighbouring countries like Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso and along some border communities in Northern Ghana, giving widespread perception that governments in the Sahel are failing to provide critical social services,” he stressed.
Most Rev Naameh said it was “a big scandal” for majority of the citizens to be discriminated against when it came to the distribution of development projects, adding that “leaders must be committed to the common good of all Ghanaians.”
“While the majority are poor and struggling to get one meal a day, others can afford everything from the same Ghana, even primary school, they will send their children to Europe and America and this a big scandal which I call on those who manage our resources to address and do so immediately.
“If there is hardship, let everybody living in Ghana experience it but if some are excluded from it and take a life which approaches more of a wealthy country, then I will say that it is not right,” he said.
The archbishop commended government for efforts being made in the security and said it needed to make security presence visible in communities in Northern Ghana, especially those bordered by the countries which had experienced violence, to ensure that the country was protected.
The SPI is a peace project being rolled out by the Catholic Church with funding from the Catholic Relief Services (CRS), to create awareness on threats of terrorism, promote social cohesion through advocacy and build the resilience of communities affected by conflicts in the Subregion.
It would also work with relevant stakeholders to find mitigating measures to resolve conflicts through mediation and dialogue and respond to humanitarian needs of people affected by the threats and conflicts.
The project is being coordinated by the National Catholic Secretariat (NCS) and implemented by the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Catholic Diocesan Development Organisation (NABOCADO), a faith development organization.
Mr. Thomas Awiapo, the Executive Secretary, NCS, said the project which would involve women in the peacebuilding processes would build the capacity of communities especially the youth to enable them to identify early warning signals of activities of terrorism and help to combat them.

Notice Confirms ImmunityBio Layoff Numbers | News, Sports, Jobs – Evening Observer https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/notice-confirms-immunitybio-layoff-numbers-news-sports-jobs-evening-observer/
Just under 40 employees at ImmunityBio Inc. in Dunkirk will be impacted by layoffs.
The company cited “economic” as a reason for the workforce reduction in a report to the state Department of Labor. In its Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act filing, ImmunityBio said 38 employees were on “inactive status” as of Sept. 29 and would be considered terminated as of Dec. 28.
As first reported in late September by the OBSERVER, ImmunityBio informed employees of the layoffs and noted “construction needs” at the 3805 Lake Shore Drive plant. One worker estimated that 40 employees were losing their jobs in several departments within the California-based clinical-stage immunotherapy company.
This week’s WARN filing confirms the number of employees who will be terminated by the end of the year.
ImmunityBio in a statement last month said there were “construction needs that may take approximately 12 to 18 months in order to enable the facility to be used as it has been intended.”
“For this reason, we will need fewer employees during the construction period,” the company said. “That said, we remain committed to the Dunkirk area and the large-scale manufacturing facility.”
A spokeswoman said workers will be able to reapply for open positions as they become available.
The $205 million plant was built specifically for the Buffalo-based Athenex, a drug development company.
In March 2021, Athenex was hit with a major setback when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration denied its approval for a drug to treat metastatic breast cancer the company was developing. At the time, Athenex said it would work with regulators on the issues cited in a complete response letter from the FDA.
A lease for the facility was acquired by ImmunityBio in February of this year.

How Design And Brands Can Really Impact The Metaverse Creative Review
How Design And Brands Can Really Impact The Metaverse – Creative Review https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/how-design-and-brands-can-really-impact-the-metaverse-creative-review/
Design agency DNCO discusses the role of place, design, brand, and community in the metaverse – and crucially, tries to define what it actually is
For all its ubiquity as a buzzword, ‘the metaverse’ is still often used as a term that refers to something entirely in the future – a Zuckerberg-fronted, avatar-populated, dystopian space that owes more to the world of science fiction than contemporary digital culture or branding.
It’s a confusing and complex entity, which is partly why design agency DNCO decided to create an exhibition for this year’s London Design Festival titled Virtually Everywhere: Place and Design in the Metaverse.
As the agency’s strategist Alex Fenton and creative director Patrick Eley point out, most of us have been using metaverses for a while already, through things like Minecraft, Fortnite, and even Peloton. “It’s an experience that’s been around for a long time without real fanfare: it’s been creeping up on us for years,” says Eley. “Everyone has their own definition of it: it’s kind of a big, daunting, quite overwhelming sort of phenomenon,” adds Fenton. “Fundamentally it’s the idea that we could use the internet differently and live a different way using the new technology that makes that possible.”
Indeed, the relative banality of what the metaverse might be isn’t exactly aligned with the vapourwave-esque landscapes most people associate with the term. So in order to try to unpack what we can learn from the metaverse, the LDF exhibition was split into six questions that the DNCO team felt it was crucial to get to grips with, such as ‘how sustainable is the metaverse?’ and ‘who owns it?’

About:
D-Link is a global leader in designing and developing networking and connectivity products for consumers, small businesses, medium to large-sized enterprises, and service providers.
The Eagle Pro AI range
D-Link has a family of routers branded Eagle Pro AI. They all support Mesh technology and speeds up to 1.5Gbps as well as the latest Wi-Fi 6 (802.11AX) technology.
Mesh technology will help extend your network, and we’ll explain more on this later. With Wi-Fi 6, this is the newest Wi-Fi standard, meaning improved performance, greater coverage, support for more devices, and better security. If you have a smartphone or PC that also supports Wi-Fi 6, you will see an improvement in how it connects to your home Wi-Fi compared to older devices. The speed and reliability of the connection will be better, as is the encryption, which means you are safeguarding your family network.
Here’s a quick summary of the Eagle Pro AI range:
Eagle Pro AI M15 multi-unit mesh solution
Eagle Pro AI R15 stand-alone mesh router with high gain antenna
Eagle Pro AI E15 wall plug wireless mesh range extender
Eagle Pro AI G415 3G/4G mobile network router that you can take with you
Is the D-Link R15 mesh router right for me?
This router is priced well for what you get. It supports the latest technology mentioned above, giving you a period of future-proofing. If the area you want to cover is less than 230 square meters or about 15m by 15m, this product is ideal and suits high-density living-like apartments. One of its features is an AI (Artificial Intelligence) Wi-Fi optimiser that connects you to the least congested channel. If you are surrounded by many other routers/Wi-Fi networks, it will always look for the least congestion to ensure your network works well.
Suppose you require coverage of a bigger area or have thick walls or other obstacles blocking the signal in your house. In that case, you can add any of the above Eagle Pro products and set it up as a mesh extender. A Mesh router allows you to essentially repeat that signal by creating a repeater station. A mesh router also keeps the same network name, meaning a seamless signal handoff between base stations. As you walk around your house, the router operates just like a mobile phone network, handing the signal from one base station to the next.
For visitors, you can set up a guest network from the downloadable App to keep your devices and information on a completely separate network. You can also limit guests’ speed to keep the best performance for yourself. Access for the guest can be as simple as scanning a QR code.
Eagle Pro AI – Artificial intelligence makes it work better
The R15 uses 5Ghz and 2.4GHz spectrums to talk to your devices. The 5GHz is faster, but the 2.4GGz will travel further. The R15 automatically moves your devices between these Wi-Fi bands to maximise performance for all devices. It will also recognise when some applications need more bandwidth. The software ensures that the heavy bandwidth devices get what they need to work properly, like watching a 4K video feed from Netflix or video conferencing.
D-Link R15 Parental Control
The Parental control function allows you to block specific users, restrict internet access during certain times or filter certain websites. The D-Link app access to this feature set is one of the easiest on the market, as shown in this video.
Set up
Out of the box, the router comes with a power pack and an ethernet cable. To set up, simply download the EAGLE PRO AI app for Android or Apple and follow the simple onscreen instructions. This will include connecting your ethernet cable to your NBN modem and plugging it into the yellow socket. You will have the option to change the network ID name and password at one point, which is good to do from a security standpoint. You will also need to set a device password. Best to keep a record of that password just in case. Total setup took us around 5 minutes, and we did not need to know anything technical to install it.
After you set up, the unit will likely do a software upgrade. These will happen automatically so you don’t have to worry about it. Software updates improve performance, and security, and sometimes add new features.
Using the app
The EAGLE PRO AI APP is simple to use and clearly lays out your options. A YouTube video appears when you first visit a new section to explain how that feature works, like “AI assistant”.
AI assistant will allow you to take steps to optimise your network as well as provide reports with suggestions to improve your network.
Another feature we liked is that you can choose to receive a message on your smartphone if the router is disconnected from the internet. With this alert you will know there is a problem before the complaints start coming in from the family.
The Eagle Pro AI router is a set-and-forget unit for most people, but you can do some other cool stuff like controlling the router from your Alexa or Google smart assistant, test your internet speed and access advanced options for those who want to tinker with the settings
GadgetGuy’s take
At under $200, this router has the latest Wi-Fi 6 technology and is coupled with some built-in AI smarts. It’s also a solid out-of-the-box solution for apartment dwellers and small homes. The Mesh network can easily be expanded by adding an Eagle Pro AI extender for $180, almost doubling the available area coverage.
The AI Wi-Fi optimiser feature helps overcome congestion caused by many competing Wi-Fi networks. By downloading the App, you can simply roll out your new network and maintain it by having simple control from the palm of your hand, including parental controls and guest networks.

How Crypto Twitter Could Change Under Musks Leadership Cointelegraph
How Crypto Twitter Could Change Under Musk’s Leadership – Cointelegraph https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/how-crypto-twitter-could-change-under-musks-leadership-cointelegraph/
Barring another change of heart and certain conditions to be met, Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter looks set to go ahead, prompting the question of whether some or all of the changes he initially hinted for the platform will become a reality.
The platform is a popular communication and news tool for crypto enthusiasts, users and investors, not to mention crypto scammers, with the social media platform seeing roughly 120,000 tweets per day about #Bitcoin alone, according to BitInfoCharts.
Looking back at Musk’s initial commentary when he proposed a buyout of Twitter could shed some light on what changes he envisions for the platform.
This includes a focus on free speech, eliminating spam bots, fake accounts, an edit function and possibly even crypto payments have all been considered and could still be on the agenda if the deal goes through.
Spam bots and fake accounts
One potential area of focus is around Twitter’s alleged spam bots.
During a TED talk in Vancouver in April, Musk said that if his offer to buy Twitter were successful, a “top priority” would be the elimination of spam and scam bots from the platform, noting at the time:
“A top priority I would have is eliminating the spam and scam bots and the bot armies that are on Twitter.”
“They make the product much worse. If I had a Dogecoin for every crypto scam I saw, we’d have 100 billion Dogecoin,” he said.
He has proposed to topple them by “authenticating all humans,” and even made the statement “we will defeat the spam bots or die trying!”
Issues relating to spam bots later became one of the key arguments Musk used to try and walk away from the deal.
Free speech, and return of Trump?
Musk initially addressed his stance on free speech in a tweet back in April, stating at the time, “I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means.”
In the months since, he has not publically changed his stance and elaborated on what that could mean for the platform, including a return of former United States President Donald Trump, who was permanently banned from Twitter following the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.
He stated in a May 13 tweet that while he thinks Trump should probably not run for president again because he is “divisive,” Musk does think he should be “restored to Twitter.”
Algorithm made public
Musk has also thought about making Twitter’s algorithm accessible to the public, even creating a poll that ultimately saw over one million votes and had 82% of respondents saying “Yes” to the proposal.
It’s not entirely clear what Musk has in mind but it could mean allowing the software to be open for public inspection and allow users to read the code, use it for their applications and make suggestions for changes to how it works.
Other ideas
Other ideas have either fizzled out or have already been implemented, such as plans to use blockchain technology and charging 0.1 Dogecoin (DOGE) per tweet or retweet, which Musk later said would not be feasible.

Musk also had the idea of adding an edit button and long-form tweets. However, Twitter may have beaten him to the punch with the edit button after the platform revealed that option recently.

North Korea Denounces U.S. In Statement After Firing More Missiles The Washington Post
North Korea Denounces U.S. In Statement After Firing More Missiles – The Washington Post https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/north-korea-denounces-u-s-in-statement-after-firing-more-missiles-the-washington-post/
TOKYO — North Korea on Thursday condemned military drills by the United States and its allies in the region as a “serious threat to the stability” of the Korean Peninsula, suggesting its latest missile launches were in response to the exercises.
Speaking for the first time since the country began its most recent round of weapons tests late last month, the North Korean Foreign Ministry denounced the United States for “unwarrantedly” referring Pyongyang’s ballistic missile launches to the United Nations Security Council. It defended its actions as “just counteraction measures” against the exercises.
The United States, South Korea and Japan since August have been conducting military maneuvers to demonstrate their readiness to work together in the event of a conflict with the North. While the allies say the drills are defensive in nature, Kim Jong Un’s regime has long viewed them as hostile acts and used them to justify its weapons development and nuclear program.
“North Korea’s consistent and persistent claims that its missile launches are in response to joint U.S.-R.O.K. drills is part of North Korea’s long running strategy of establishing equivalence between their illicit provocations and U.S.-R.O.K. joint military exercises,” said Go Myong-hyun, a senior fellow at the Asan Institute of Policy Studies in Seoul, using an abbreviation for South Korea’s official name, the Republic of Korea.
Go added that the North Korean Foreign Ministry’s statement Thursday “echoes precisely the talking points intended to inculcate the perception that the drills and provocations are equivalent, when in fact they are not.”
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said North Korea’s missile launches “absolutely cannot be tolerated.”
“This is the sixth time in the short period, just counting the ones from the end of September,” Kishida said Thursday.
China’s Ambassador to the U.N., Geng Shuang, told the Security Council on Wednesday evening local time that North Korea’s tests “did not exist in isolation” but were rather a response to U.S. military activity in the region.
The U.N. response should not merely be about pressuring Pyongyang, Geng said, adding that U.S. deployment of military assets was to blame for “creating tension” and the idea that North Korea’s launches were because of Security Council inaction was “totally incorrect.”
There has been a flurry of activity this week between the allies’ drills and North Korean ballistic missile tests, which violate U.N. Security Council resolutions. The reciprocal actions point to rising tensions as the United States, South Korea and Japan work more closely together to guard against North Korea’s nuclear and weapons development.
With a new South Korean conservative president who is taking a harder line toward the North, U.S. and South Korean militaries resumed drills this summer for the first time in five years.
North Korea’s recent rounds of tests began on Sept. 24 as the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan arrived in South Korea to participate in the exercises.
On Tuesday, as drills involving the American carrier wrapped up, North Korea test-fired an intermediate-range missile over Japan for the first time since 2017. In response, the United States, South Korea and Japan conducted air, sea and land drills, including rare missile exercises by the U.S. and South Korean militaries and deploying the Reagan back out to the waters east of North Korea.
On Thursday, North Korea test-fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the sea off its east coast. In its statement, North Korea said it is watching U.S. actions in the region, specifically the repositioning of the aircraft carrier.

Puny Critter Shows Humble Beginnings Of Magnificent Flying Reptiles The Indian Express
Puny Critter Shows Humble Beginnings Of Magnificent Flying Reptiles – The Indian Express https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/puny-critter-shows-humble-beginnings-of-magnificent-flying-reptiles-the-indian-express/
Pterosaurs, the flying reptiles that thrived during the age of dinosaurs, achieved great size – some with wingspans like a fighter jet – and displayed striking anatomy including exotic head crests and a hugely elongated finger to support their wings.
While the ancestry and early evolution of these creatures have long puzzled scientists, a fresh examination of remains found in Scotland of a small reptile that lived about 230 million years ago during the Triassic Period is helping shed light on the humble origins of pterosaurs, researchers said on Wednesday.
They found that the reptile, called Scleromochlus taylori, is a close cousin of pterosaurs. It is a member of a group called lagerpetids, considered the nearest relatives of pterosaurs. Though not a direct ancestor, the researchers said Scleromochlus may look very much like the reptiles from which pterosaurs evolved.
Scleromochlus, which measured about 8 inches (20 cm) long and likely ate insects and other small invertebrates, featured a relatively large head, long and slender limbs, short torso and long tail, probably walking on two legs and standing on its toes. It did not have a lizard-like or frog-like sprawling posture as previously hypothesized.
“It would comfortably fit in a hand,” said Davide Foffa, a postdoctoral researcher in paleontology at Virginia Tech and the University of Birmingham who worked on the research while at the National Museums Scotland in Edinburgh and is lead author of the study published in the journal Nature. “Scleromochlus provides unique information about the ancestors of pterosaurs, showing that they likely derived from small-bodied land-dwelling runners.”
Scleromochlus lived at about the same time as the earliest dinosaurs, predating pterosaurs by perhaps 10 million years.
The researchers used sophisticated scanning technology to peer inside sandstone containing the Scleromochlus fossils, clearly revealing its anatomy for the first time. Fossils of seven Scleromochlus individuals were unearthed near the town of Elgin on Scotland’s northeastern coast and first described in 1907, but technology at the time did not permit a detailed understanding of the animal.
“Scleromochlus may not be a large fierce predator, but it reminds us of a very interesting story. It shows that very iconic animals such as pterosaurs – but this applies to dinosaurs and many other groups – likely began from unassuming-looking ancestors,” Foffa said.
Pterosaurs became Earth’s first flying vertebrates, with birds appearing about 150 millions years ago and bats about 50 million years ago. The first pterosaurs were small – about crow-sized – but later ones had wingspans up to 35 feet (10.7 meters).
“They are really peculiar animals, with such a bizarre type of body that it’s hard to figure out what their closest relatives and ancestors are,” said University of Edinburgh paleontologist and study co-author Steve Brusatte.
“Imagine a fuzzy creature that looks like a hang glider, with huge wings of skin attached to a long skinny finger like a giant sail, with a crocodile’s snout and tiny feet with toothpick toes and a long stiff tail, and that’s a pterosaur,” Brusatte added.
Unlike birds, pterosaurs did not use feathers for flight, though their bodies were covered in fuzzy little feathers. Their wings were formed by a tough membrane extending from an elongated fourth finger to the ankle.
Fossils of lagerpetids are known from Africa, North America and South America, with Scleromochlus the only one found in Europe.
“Scleromochlus still looks quite different from pterosaurs. It’s kind of like a monkey compared to a human,” Brusatte said. “Clearly it’s a primitive cousin, as it shares features of its delicate bones, especially its small pelvis and the in-turned thigh bone that connects to it. But Scleromochlus did not yet have a wing. It was not yet a flier. Evolution still had a lot of work to do.”
Introducing The gross Metaverse Product POLITICO POLITICO
Introducing The ‘gross Metaverse Product’ – POLITICO – POLITICO https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/introducing-the-gross-metaverse-product-politico-politico/
Tech-savvy nation-states like South Korea, Japan and the United Arab Emirates are racing to plant their flag in the metaverse, making investments in the technology to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.
But how do you measure real-life success — the effectiveness of such a massive investment — in a world that hardly exists yet?
Dubai thinks it has an answer, announcing last week at its “Dubai Metaverse Assembly” that the emirate will now be tracking its “gross metaverse product.”
What, one might ask, will comprise that metric? The details are still fuzzy: A minister said only that Dubai will “will be able to create billions of dollars in returns from Dubai without people being physically in the emirate but experiencing it in the metaverse,” and the GMP will include tourism, retail, real estate and government services, among other things.
The nation-state rush into the metaverse might sound similar to the promises of companies like Procter & Gamble, or the Creative Artists Agency, which have launched ambitious institutional metaverse projects mostly to display their eagerness to maintain their companies’ technological edge. To some observers, it largely is.
“I see the proposed Gross Metaverse Product as a clever marketing strategy,” said Louis Rosenberg, a computer scientist and founder of the company Unanimous AI. “For nations where tourism and entertainment make up a significant percentage of their GDP, the ability to represent what portion of that comes from the metaverse as GMP seems useful.”
It might seem odd to come up with national yardsticks for a virtual world that’s designed to be transnational at heart. But policymakers would probably welcome a concrete way to show a return on their growing investments in the sector.
South Korea announced its investment of more than $170 million in the metaverse earlier this year, aimed at both creating jobs related to its development and virtual platforms for city services. Saudi Arabia is pumping millions of dollars into gaming, not least because the industry is already at the center of the nascent metaverse (consider Microsoft’s $70 billion acquisition of Activision earlier this year, a move it framed as buying a stake in the metaverse).
In a world currently more hype than reality, the hype factor of announcements like Dubai’s isn’t irrelevant.
“What’s important here in my mind is the narrative that they seek to cement,” said Yonatan Raz Fridman, founder and CEO of metaverse games company Supersocial and co-host of Bloomberg’s “Into the Metaverse” podcast. “[It’s] the story of a future-focused Dubai, a nation state that captures a technology shift early to establish itself as a trailblazer for a new virtual economy.”
Anyone familiar with the visionary schemes of the UAE, and Dubai in particular, knows that Emirati leaders have a history of chasing the latest thing with at least some success. The Gulf state has confected a modern skyscraper economy out of a series of old fishing villages, and Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City is a lab for clean energy and tech innovation — constantly iterating, experimenting with, and rethinking its ambitions for how tech and society interact with each other.
But when it comes to the future, it’s hard to know what to bet on. More than a decade into its existence, Masdar’s future is still in doubt. And there are whole websites dedicated to Dubai’s empty islands, on-hold “cities,” and other lavish but unbuilt projects.
Will its metaverse play join their ranks? Maybe. But then again, in a growing virtual world, there will be a lot less friction between ambition and reality. The new statistics might eventually seem more visionary than wishful.
“Eventually we will not focus on the difference between our physical surroundings and the layers of virtual content that are seamlessly added to our daily experiences,” said Rosenberg, who believes less-intrusive augmented reality technology is a more likely vehicle for the metaverse. “At that point, it will all just be GDP.”
The U.S. is getting its act together, albeit slowly, on crypto policy — but a major global finance regulator might get there first.
The Financial Stability Board, a standard-setting body assembled in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, is planning to announce a crypto regulation plan at next week’s Group of 20 meeting in Washington, as POLITICO’s Bjarke Smith-Meyer reported today for Pro subscribers. Steven Majoor, a governor of the Dutch central bank who was instrumental in developing the plan, told Bjarke that crypto should largely be subject to the same rules that govern traditional markets — “not only related to securities,” as Majoor said, but also “anti-money laundering laws and regulations.”
For those keeping score at home: This plan will come in the wake of the Biden administration’s recent crypto framework, this week’s FSOC report and recommendations for crypto regulation, the numerous proposed crypto bills on Capitol Hill, and the EU moving full speed ahead with its MiCA crypto regulation, which it plans to discuss with U.S. regulators during next week’s IMF-World Bank meetings.
In a global market, bringing all these proposed regulations in line might prove as daunting a task as determining what they say in the first place.
Can “stanning” BTS inoculate you against misinformation?
Once online misinformation spreads, it can be stubbornly hard to weed out. But fans of the world’s most popular K-pop band seem surprisingly immune, at least when it comes to their favorite group.
A group of misinformation researchers performed a “virtual ethnography and semi-structured interviews of 34 Twitter users from the ARMY fandom, a global fan community supporting the Korean music group BTS,” and published their results in the Harvard Kennedy School Misinformation Review last week.
In probing the types of false information those fans encounter in their community and how they react to it, the researchers found that the very traits that make such fan communities such rabid defenders of their idols — and surprisingly effective political actors — make them resistant to information classified as false, like “rumors about BTS members and misinterpretations due to the translation of materials through multiple languages.”
Those traits, namely, are a “strong sense of community” and “shared goals,” something any polity or politician would seek to inspire in their followers. Of course, it’s one thing to verify, or debunk, “misinformation” about a particular celebrity’s romantic life; the complicated philosophical questions and value judgments that our politics are a little bit more demanding.
But understanding the underlying mechanisms by which information travels online and is processed is an important part of navigating our current politics in its own right, and it’s no surprise that as vocal and omnipresent a cultural force as BTS fandom provides a convenient vehicle for it.
The Biden administration is getting aggressive about halting China’s computing progress.
