U.S. Study On Workplace Benefits Sees Widespread Adoption Of New Creative Benefits To Support Employee Wellness And Mental Health PR Newswire
U.S. Study On Workplace Benefits Sees Widespread Adoption Of New, Creative Benefits To Support Employee Wellness And Mental Health – PR Newswire https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/u-s-study-on-workplace-benefits-sees-widespread-adoption-of-new-creative-benefits-to-support-employee-wellness-and-mental-health-pr-newswire/ With new hybrid work models, shifting demographics, and employee preferences companies of all sizes are thinking beyond gym memberships and massages to support employees , /PRNewswire/ — A new benchmarking study from Benepass, a modern benefits platform for People-forward companies, illustrates the impact of the pandemic, continued work from home policies, the tight labor market, and shifting demographics on employee benefits offerings. The company’s first ever benchmarking report, which analyzed benefits data from more than 20,000 employees across the U.S., found that traditional health and wellness benefits such as fitness, nutrition, mental health, and spa, beauty and massage were the most popular offerings across companies of all sizes. In a nod to changing employee needs and preferences, the study also uncovered a host of new creative and flexible benefits to support employees are also top of mind, including pet care, food, parental support, tuition reimbursement, and travel and vacation benefits. “Employees today want to work for organizations that value their well-being, so it makes sense that companies are searching for new ways to prioritize employee wellness, especially as remote and hybrid work blurs the line between work and home. Our study findings show clear signals that companies are seeking to provide benefits that are highly personalized and flexible,” said Jaclyn Chen, CEO, Benepass. Key report findings: Based on an analysis of benefits data from large, medium, and small U.S. businesses representing 20,000+ employees, the 2022 Benepass Benefits Benchmarking Report found: The Rise of Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (DCFSA): Of the various types of pre-tax accounts, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) are the most popular. Dependent care FSAs (DCFSA) ranked second. During the pandemic, parents faced the stress of working from home while their children were in the next room due to closed daycares and schools, raising our overall consciousness of what it means to be a working parent. The popularity of DCFSAs suggests employers continue to explore how to support parents so they can be their best, most productive selves at work. Wellness perks most popular offering at large, mid-size and small organizations: Across all company sizes, and industries, the most popular types of perks are fitness and wellness, lifestyle spending accounts (LSAs), and work from home. On average large companies are spending $177/month, medium sized companies spending $108/month, and small companies spending $67/month on fitness and wellness benefits alone. Technology and healthcare organizations are both big spenders when it comes to fitness and wellness benefits with technology companies spending on average $111/monthly and healthcare organizations spending $117/monthly on these perks. Lifestyle spending accounts (LSAs) are empowering companies to expand the concept of wellness. LSAs, a relatively new benefit in the market, are non-salaried allowances that enable employees to choose how to best support their work-life balance and well-being. LSAs are fully funded by the employer and were developed on the basis that flexible, employee-led benefits lead to happier, more productive employees. The report found LSAs to be the second-most-popular perk among all companies, with 37% of companies offering it and providing an average of $171 in flexible monthly funds. Given the newness of this perk, many companies also struggle to design the core eligible spending categories. While traditional wellness pillars such as fitness, nutrition, and mental health made up the bulk of eligible spending categories, the inherent flexibility of LSA accounts has empowered companies to expand their well-being support to include spas, food, pet care, travel and vacation, professional development, tuition reimbursement, and parental support. WFH perks remain popular and go well beyond buying a desk: Regardless of benchmark segment or industry, many employers provide $500 to $1000 in work from home benefits, which allows employees to purchase high-cost items like a new desk or office chair. With the continued trend toward WFH, the report saw increasing creativity on the part of employers to support employees at home including paying for meals, cleaning services, trash pickup, or water treatments. Technology companies are big spenders when it comes to buying employees meals, spending on average $123/month on the popular perk. This compared to healthcare companies who are spending on average $25/month on food perks. Rise in experiential perks to meet preferences of Gen Y, Gen Z: Some companies provide entertainment or cultural experience benefits to help pay for podcasts, music streaming services, concert or theater tickets. This perk is particularly popular amongst tech companies who pay on average $44/month on this benefit. Other unique benefits that are particularly appealing to this demographic include travel benefits for employees to spend on personal vacations and rental homes or one-time rewards to celebrate new hires, birthdays, or work anniversaries. Small businesses face pressure to match benefits of larger companies: The study found that while the dollar amount may be less, small businesses were by and large offering the same benefits as large and medium size businesses.  “I think there’s an expectation from younger generations for more than just the traditional core offerings. They really want flexibility and choice, and they want their employer to meet them where they’re at. When you want high-performing employees, you need to make it easy for them to access the support they need, when they need it. I think it’s a generational shift and change from coming out of the pandemic; people are much more aware of and more vocal about their well-being,” Kelly Wakefield, senior manager, global benefits, Moderna. Big Mamas Serving More Than BBQ To ESL Community St. Louis American
Big Mamas Serving More Than BBQ To ESL Community St. Louis American
Big Mama’s Serving More Than BBQ To ESL Community – St. Louis American https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/big-mamas-serving-more-than-bbq-to-esl-community-st-louis-american/ When you walk into Big Mama’s BBQ in East St. Louis, the first thing you’ll notice is a huge menu filled with year-round summertime style BBQ. For starters, there is the snoot, pork ribs, hot links, and pork steak. Soul music flows through the speakers, making you feel like doing the “two-step” or “four corners” dance moves. Craig Hunter is a 22-year veteran in the restaurant industry. He opened his first location of Big Mama’s BBQ in Belleville, Illinois, a suburb about 13 miles from East St. Louis. A second location is at Scott Air Force Base and third location is near Clinton Golf Course in Swansea Illinois.   Big Mama’s is a gem in the community, and Hunter is doing more than serving good food; he is making a difference in the lives of the young people in the community of East St. Louis. “That’s one thing I’m going to do as long as I’m here. I’m going to make sure that I instill in these kids that they have a chance because there are so many kids down here who don’t have a chance,” said Hunter.  All locations were very successful, Hunter says. When he was catering events at golf courses he sometimes wouldn’t end a shift until 3 a.m. With all the accolades he was receiving for his service and good-tasting food, the proclaimed pit master felt he needed to do more in communities that are underserved, especially with kids who grow up in less appealing neighborhoods.  He closed down the other locations and moved Big Mama’s BBQ to East St. Louis in 2010. He was reminded of the stark differences between the communities he served. Poverty and crime stared him in the face, and the only thing he could think of to fight back was to mentor youths before the streets got a hold of them.   With passion in his voice, Hunter said, “There’s poverty down here, and the kids don’t have the same opportunities as the kids in Belleville and O’Fallon.” According to PRB data between 2007 and 2018 over 30% of Black children in the United States live in poverty. The population of East St. Louis is near 30,000, Illinois demographics data show the metro-east town’s Black population is 96.1% compared to 1.4% of the white population. The average household income is just above $24,000.  However, crime has been declining  since 2014. Now some may say that is because the population has been on the down tick and in 2020 the population decreased nearly 8,000 people. Yet and still Hunter says that is not enough to make a difference in the neighborhoods or the kids lives he cares so much about.   “We need to do something about these communities down here,” said the restaurant owner.  Almost half of Big Mama’s BBQ staff are high school students or recently graduated high school students. There are also employees who have been with Hunter for years. He is grateful for his staff but says that it’s unfair to area youths “when they graduate from high school and they don’t have jobs in their community they can work at.” Some kids and adults feel trapped and Hunter said people with money and power should invest in these communities.  “Our kids are worth it, just like those kids who live out in the suburbs,” said Hunter.  Hunter teaches young people “to work as a family.” He instructs them on financial literacy, shares life lessons about investing and saving, and tells them how important it is to give back to the communities they live in. He teaches his employees to take pride in their work, to serve the customers as if they were long time friends or family.  Jermaryon Crogier, 16, is familiar with Hunter’s daily chats about life. The East St. Louis High School sophomore says that he grew up at the BBQ restaurant because his mom worked there for years. It was a natural fit for him to work there too, and Crogier said Hunter has always treated his mom like family. Crogier cooks on the grill, helps clean the restaurant, and trains new employees, Big Mama’s BBQ is the perfect working environment for him.  “He [Criag Hunter] has a big personality and he gives us wisdom and life lessons without being harsh,” said Crogier. “It’s always bright when Craig walks in the door, he always has a smile on his face”.  Recent high school grad Vivica Lee has been working at the restaurant since she was 15 years old. Now 19, she says she wouldn’t work under anyone but Hunter, adding that she is invested in the restaurant. “This is family, blood couldn’t make us any closer,” said Lee.  She loves it when Hunter uses old sayings like, ‘there is more than one way to skin a cat’ when she is trying to figure out a difficult task. Lee isn’t shy saying that he taught her how to cook, along with teaching her how to be financially savvy. She takes those same lessons and shares the advice with her family and friends.   Lee is just one of the many of his staff that grew up without a dad in the house. “He is like a father figure to me” Chuckling, Lee said, “I call him ‘grand dad’”.  Hunter is training Lee to be a co-owner of his second location of Big Mama’s, they are hoping to open a location in St. Louis. He wants to share what he is doing in East St. Louis across the bridge, and not just mentoring youth, but his love for cooking. The well versed cook prides himself on his food, each meal, dessert, and appetizer are all made in house, fresh, and made with pride, respect, and dignity.   “We’re going to give our customers good food, if we don’t like it, then we’re not serving it,” said Hunter.  Big Mama’s top selling item is the snoot.  It’s grilled until crisp and a sauce is ladled on top. Hunter isn’t just cooking for kicks, it’s a passion, and he gives his all to the dishes he serves.  Hunter says it’s his way of paying homage to his mom and every big mama in our communities across the country. He wants his restaurant to feel like a family reunion.  “Almost every Black neighborhood has a ‘Big Mama,’ someone in the community who will feed you, even if it’s a bologna sandwich,” said Hunter.  “We are going to feed you, but we’re also going to be a part of the community. I donate when I can, I help when I can.”  Hunter has donated coats, toys, and winter clothes, to families in the area. Having Big Mama’s BBQ affords him the opportunity to help others. And helping others includes keeping his prices at affordable rates, most of his items are under $12.   The BBQ master has multiple returning customers, a testament to his restaurant, the food, and employees. “I’m going to change these communities that people think are not worth nothing. These are all my kids. We’re not just here making money, we’re going to make a difference in our community,” Hunter said. Ashley Winters is a Report for America reporter

Wellframe And Linkwell Health Launch Wellsquared To Close The Gap Between Health Plans And Their Members – Insurance News Net https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/wellframe-and-linkwell-health-launch-wellsquared-to-close-the-gap-between-health-plans-and-their-members-insurance-news-net/ , (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today Wellframe and announced the launch of Wellsquared, a new product designed to deepen engagement with members and help health plans deliver the modern healthcare experience members expect. Wellsquared is a partnership between Wellframe, the market leader in member experience solutions for health plans, and , the premier consumer engagement technology and content company serving health plans and health services organizations. Wellsquared will enable health plans to seamlessly onboard members, better educate them about their health plan and care options, and empower them to more effectively activate and utilize their benefits. Health plans have long struggled to engage members effectively and have been slow to evolve their marketing approach to meet the rising expectations of the modern health plan member. A recent Wellframe consumer survey of over 1,000 health plan members found that only 33% of individuals fully understand their health plan communications with a full 10% saying they’re “always” confused by them. Those new to insurance (33%) and long-term insurance members (29%) are almost equally confused about their health plan benefits. The survey provided a clear picture that members don’t understand or know the full benefits their health plans offer due to the lack of structured communications provided by their insurer. Wellsquared addresses this challenge head-on, and health plans and members alike will benefit. Health plan members will experience a significant change in how their health plans communicate with them, making it easier to learn how to take advantage of all the benefits plans offer. Wellsquared offers health plans the following new services: Easy integration into other health plans’ communication channels, including email, social media, SMS, and print. Branded-content hosting for more active, measurable member outreach. Customization of content according to the plan’s marketing and engagement goals. Development of engagement journeys to drive members through the funnel and provide the proper support through their health journey. Creation of targeted content for response-driven omnichannel programs, accounting for any necessary regulatory needs. Shifting behavior is key to creating change, especially as 43% of members say they don’t understand their health or benefits coverage, and 88% say they often ignore phone calls from businesses or unknown numbers. “The consumer survey we conducted was reassurance that clear and consistent communication with health plan members is a big area of opportunity,” said , senior vice president of marketing and engagement at Wellframe. “Wellsquared is the right solution that will provide the strategy, resources, and support for our health partners and members.” “Wellsquared’s new member engagement model takes advantage of high-quality content distributed on multiple channels and published on health plan-branded content destinations to improve awareness, engagement, and utilization,” said , president and chief executive officer of . “Members will develop greater trust in their health plan and be more receptive to its programs when they receive content that is contextual, action-oriented, and meets them where they are on their individual health journey.” To learn more about Wellsquared and how this new service increases trust between members and health plans, visit www.wellframe.com/member-marketing. After-Hours Events Concerts And Tours At Washington. D.C.. Museums The Washington Post
After-Hours Events Concerts And Tours At Washington. D.C.. Museums The Washington Post
After-Hours Events, Concerts And Tours At Washington. D.C.. Museums – The Washington Post https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/after-hours-events-concerts-and-tours-at-washington-d-c-museums-the-washington-post/ On a recent Thursday night in the National Gallery of Art’s East Building, I watched from a railing at the edge of the mezzanine level as crowds on the floors beneath flocked between exhibits and bars and perched with drinks at colorfully lit tables. Patrons collected sketch pads from museum staff and set about creating gesture drawings of two elegantly dressed models, not far from where DJ Heat had coaxed lines of dancers into enthusiastically doing the wobble. In the galleries, groups posed for selfies next to paintings by Wayne Thiebaud and Amy Sherald, while 20-somethings wandered through the crowd, phones held high in their extended arms, capturing the scene for TikTok. Where did all these people come from? After-hours parties began returning to Washington museums in the spring, once again drawing locals with a mix of culture and mingling, drinks and hands-on activities. But in recent weeks, interest has exploded. The Phillips Collection’s Phillips After 5 and National Gallery Nights sold out of tickets for their September dates, as did some of the Library of Congress’s weekly Live! at the Library events, such as one featuring a conversation with author Ian McEwan. More than 3,300 people passed through the National Gallery on Sept. 8, which Sherri Williams, the manager of community programs, says is “on par with our highest attendance ever” — around 800 to 1,000 more people than the pre-pandemic average. And while passes are free, letting patrons reserve them without fear of commitment, “more people are showing up, redeeming their pass,” Williams says. The attrition rate was about 35 percent in September, below what organizers would usually expect for a free event. Also surprising: The first wave of free tickets was snatched up in less than three minutes, faster than some of this summer’s popular Jazz in the Garden events. Museum after-hours parties have been part of D.C.’s cultural fabric since the mid- to late 2000s, when events like Hirshhorn After Hours and Phillips After 5 became cultural phenomena, drawing crowds very different from the ones that visited during the day. “Looking at the 2,800 partygoers, it was hard to imagine that a single, good-looking, under-30 District resident was left beyond the museum’s plaza walls,” wrote a Post reporter when electronic artist Dan Deacon headlined a raucous event at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in 2008. But large crowds and cool vibes (and funds raised by alcohol and ticket sales) aren’t the only reason museums are glad to host these events. The Library of Congress conceived the weekly Live! at the Library series as a way to engage local residents, explains Katie Klenkel, the library’s chief of visitor engagement. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and “we were just missing out on a huge part of our audiences who worked during the day Monday through Friday and just didn’t have a chance to come see our great exhibits or experience what we have to offer,” Klenkel says. Keith Costas, the Phillips Collection’s director of special events, was part of the group that helped create Phillips After 5 as a weekly, and then monthly, event back in the summer of 2008. To date, the gallery — the first museum of modern art in the U.S. — has hosted, by Costas’s count, 155 After 5s. “Everyone has always said to me, ‘Keith, you’re just throwing a party.’ I said, ‘Well, no, that’s not the case.’ You know, my purpose is really just to bring people in, to get them to learn about the collection, our special exhibitions, and to walk away having an enriched cultural experience.” Yes, he says, there will always be people “having a glass of wine, listening to music, engaging, conversing with people, you know, going on a date.” But for the staff who created and continue to plan the event, he says, “it was always about the art and making it a cultural and learning experience.” Beyond a good time, these after-hours events are about inviting Washingtonians to think of art as part of their lives — an after-work social experience as natural as going to happy hour or rounding up friends to catch up over dinner. And if you learn something about Lou Stovall’s museum workshop, or decide to come back another day to continue gazing at modern art, so much the better. Phillips After 5 at the Phillips Collection The Phillips Collection began in Duncan Phillips’s home, and even though the building has been extended and modernized numerous times, Phillips After 5 still gives off house-party vibes. One minute, you’re upstairs in an exhibition space, browsing the brightly colored silk-screen prints in “Lou Stovall: The Museum Workshop,” listening to a spotlight tour where guest curator Will Stovall is delving into the history of the posters his father created for concerts at Bohemian Caverns, his more activist work and the prints made for Washington Color School pioneers such as Gene Davis. Then you head down the curvaceous spiral staircase to the lobby. There’s a beer tasting with D.C.’s own Soul Mega happening in the gift shop. Go through a set of doors and you’re out in the courtyard, where hands are in the air and bodies are bouncing while local jazz-meets-go-go stars the JoGo Project cover UCB’s “Sexy Lady.” Do the people singing along with the chorus notice the site-specific Ellsworth Kelly sculpture behind the band? Maybe, maybe not. Groove for a bit, then wander back inside and head downstairs, where a silk-screen demonstration is teaching visitors the basic principles of Stovall’s art and they’re making a tote bag to take home. And did I mention that Ben’s Chili Bowl is serving half-smokes? D.C. art, D.C. music, D.C. food and a hands-on experience that brings it back to the art: That kind of synergy is what Nehemiah Dixon III, the Phillips’s senior director of community engagement, is looking for when Phillips After 5 is in the planning stages. “I think everything paired well,” he says after the “We’re Back! Let’s Go-Go” event in early September. “You can tell the excitement, the buzz of people being back in the museum at that capacity.” The nature of the Phillips’s exhibitions is something that Dixon relishes: “We’re in a unique place where our walls change fairly consistently,” he says. “And with each new exhibition, with each new show, there’s a new opportunity to sort of experiment and play” with the themes of After 5. Next month, though, the focus is on the most iconic painting in the collection: Renoir’s “Luncheon of the Boating Party.” The Phillips draws a slightly older crowd than the National Gallery and some Smithsonian events — I’m willing to bet the $20 ticket price has something to do with the demographics — and guests seem fairly split between those who are focused on the music and the art. But that’s fine with Dixon. “Whether it’s a painting on the wall or a program that you’re attending, our goal is always, you know, let’s create these pockets of joy for our community.” When: The first Thursday of the month from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Next up: “Oktoberfest” on Oct. 6, featuring tours and talks focused on Renoir’s “Luncheon of the Boating Party” and the opportunity to take a photo in a 3D version of the painting; jazz from the Carr/Keys quintet; hard cider from Capitol Cider House and German Oktoberfest beers. 1600 21st Street NW. Live! at the Library at the Library of Congress If some other after-hours events come across as eager to party, the Library of Congress is the refined older relative, befitting its setting in the grand marble building across the street from the Capitol. Since its first event in May, Live! at the Library has allowed visitors to gawk at the magnificent dome and sculptures in the historic Reading Room, which is surely one of the most beautiful indoor spaces in D.C. Events have given visitors a chance to see Abraham Lincoln’s life mask, celebrate Juneteenth with the Gullah band Ranky Tanky and ask Nationals pitcher Sean Doolittle about the books that spurred his love of reading, as well as to explore ongoing exhibits. The series attracts locals interested in the subject of the week, but also a Hill crowd and, given the location, plenty of tourists. The lack of access to exhibits for locals working 9-to-5 jobs had been part of the inspiration for the series, but Katie Klenkel, the chief of visitor engagement, explains that there was also a desire to consolidate the library’s calendar. Between author talks, film screenings, concerts, lectures and other events, “we do so many programs at the library on so many different disparate topics” that sometimes potential audience members didn’t know that something they’d be interested in was happening. “And so we were trying to create a through line for people so they could anticipate that kind of cultural programming on a specific date, specific time, every Thursday,” Klenkel says. “It makes it easier than having things on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday evenings.” So after beloved radio producers and podcasters the Kitchen Sisters donated their entire archive to the library’s American Folklife Center, it was a natural fit to have them as guests at Live! at the Library in mid-September, interviewed by Academy Award winner Frances McDormand. Ditto author Ian McEwan, who discussed his latest novel, “Lessons,” on Sept. 22, or journalist James Kirchick, who celebrated Pride Month by talking about his book “Secret City: The Hidden History of Gay Washington” while the library displayed items from its collection that Kirchick used in his research. But there’s an element of surprise, too, when the library can pull out that Lincoln life mask, show off a selection of items from the Harry Houdini collection or display vintage Star Wars trading cards that maybe ...

CMIC, launched in February 2022 by 17 co-founding exchanges, firms and industry associations, gives a unified voice to the crypto industry’s commitment to continually improving market integrity and collaboration with regulators. The coalition takes on initiatives that promote market integrity, address gaps identified by its signatories, and further engagement with regulators. Currently, CMIC is developing market integrity training specifically designed for the unique characteristics of digital asset markets and the challenges compliance professionals face in countering manipulation in these markets. In July, CMIC members met with SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce and CFTC Commissioner Caroline Pham for a roundtable discussion on what responsible market participants can do to enhance market integrity in digital asset markets, what are the biggest risks to the industry’s growth, and how the industry can work with regulators to mitigate those risks. “As one of the first cryptocurrency exchanges, Bittrex has long prioritized security and trust for our users,” said Michael Carter, Chief Compliance Officer at Bittrex. “The ongoing work of CMIC aligns closely with that goal, which is why we’re pleased to join the organization in enabling a safe and regulated ecosystem for digital assets. We look forward to working with fellow coalition members on collective educational efforts and sharing insights that will contribute to the industry’s continuing evolution.” “We’re seeing increasing appetite on the part of institutional investors to actively participate in the growing digital asset economy, and regulatory clarity will address concerns that have stemmed from uncertainty. We continue to welcome discussion with policymakers on how to encourage innovation while protecting investors and businesses,” said Jeff Horowitz, BitGo Chief Compliance Officer. “We are delighted to see the industry’s support for CMIC, as leading crypto firms continue to sign the pledge to maintain the highest standards of compliance and risk mitigation,” said Asaf Meir, Co-founder and Chief Executive of crypto risk monitoring firm Solidus Labs which initiated CMIC. “Now more than ever before, it is clear that crypto’s potential depends on the ability to mitigate its new risks and provide demonstrable market integrity – and we look forward to continuing – and accelerating – our joint effort to advance safe and regulated crypto.” For more information on CMIC and to sign the pledge, please visit: www.cryptomarketintegrity.com

Russia-Ukraine War Latest Updates The Washington Post
Russia-Ukraine War Latest Updates The Washington Post
Russia-Ukraine War Latest Updates – The Washington Post https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/russia-ukraine-war-latest-updates-the-washington-post/ Russian President Vladimir Putin will sign treaties claiming to annex four areas of Ukraine on Friday, as separatist leaders from Ukraine arrived in Moscow for what they called “a historic decision” to join Russia. Staged referendums — illegal under international law and widely condemned by Western countries — concluded earlier this week in occupied parts of Ukraine’s Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. Explosions that damaged the Nord Stream pipelines and caused natural gas to leak into the Baltic Sea this week appeared to be “the result of deliberate, reckless, and irresponsible acts of sabotage,” NATO said Thursday. It vowed to meet any attacks against its members’ infrastructure “with a united and determined response.” Here’s the latest on the war and its ripple effects across the globe. Return to menu Separatist leaders from Russian-occupied portions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia are in Moscow to complete the procedure of Russian annexation of Ukrainian territory, Kirill Stremousov, a Russian-installed official from Kherson, said in a Telegram post. He shared a group photo of the arrival and called it a “happy ending.” Putin will address lawmakers Friday at 3 p.m. local time (8 a.m. Eastern time). The ceremony will take place in the Grand Kremlin Palace to sign “agreements on the accession of new territories into the Russian Federation,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said. The inflammatory move appears likely to slam the door on diplomacy for years to come and almost certainly assure further escalation of the war, with Kyiv vowing to fight to reclaim all of its lands. The annexation requires a number of procedural sign-offs within Russia, including votes from Russia’s State Duma parliament and Federation Assembly to approve the treaty, as happened when Moscow annexed Crimea in 2014. The United States, Canada and the European Union have all vowed never to recognize the annexed land as part of Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv was working with Western allies to firm up support against annexation. The White House has said it is working with “allies and partners to impose additional economic costs on Russia,” should annexation go ahead. “You can expect additional measures from us in the coming days,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said this week. Return to menu A total of four leaks in the Nord Stream pipelines have been reported, after the Swedish coast guard confirmed Thursday that there were two leaks in Sweden’s economic zone and two in Denmark’s. Investigations into the cause of the explosions are continuing. The European Union and several nations suspect sabotage and have blamed Russia, which denies causing any damage to the underwater energy infrastructure in the Baltic Sea, which supplies gas to Western Europe. NATO said Thursday that current evidence shows the leaks were “the result of deliberate, reckless, and irresponsible acts of sabotage.” The alliance vowed it would defend against “hybrid tactics.” Russia has denied any involvement and blames the United States. Its Foreign Ministry said Thursday the leaks occurred in the trade and economic zones of “NATO-centric countries” that are completely “controlled by the U.S. intelligence services.” The Kremlin has said it was not in Russia’s economic interest to damage the pipelines and called for a U.N. Security Council meeting. A U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the United States had nothing to do with any attack, calling the idea “preposterous.” The damage to the Nord Stream pipelines could result in the largest single release of methane into the atmosphere ever recorded, experts said. The Danish Energy Agency said sections of the damaged pipe contained 778 million cubic meters of natural gas, which, if it reached the atmosphere, would be equivalent to about 1/1000th of estimated annual global methane emissions, according to calculations by scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey’s Gas Hydrates Project. Return to menu The United States will provide a $1.1 billion weapons package to Ukraine over the next few years, including 18 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) launchers, a “core component of Ukraine’s fighting force in the future,” a senior U.S. defense official told reporters Wednesday, speaking on the condition of anonymity under ground rules set by the Pentagon. Defense officials said nearly 20 other nations have also agreed to accelerate arms production to replace Ukraine’s Soviet-era equipment with modern systems used by NATO. Russian lawmakers have lashed out at those fleeing to avoid military conscription. Eligible citizens who are registered with the military are “forbidden to leave … without the permission of the military commissariats,” said speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin on Telegram. Thousands of men are scrambling to the border or rushing for flights to avoid being conscripted to fight in Ukraine. “The better off and well educated are overrepresented among those attempting to leave Russia,” Britain’s Defense Ministry said Thursday in a daily update. At least 19 people were injured when Russian strikes hit Dnipropetrovsk, regional governor Valentyn Reznichenko said. He said the attack occurred around 8 a.m. local time and targeted industrial infrastructure and damaged homes, power lines and buildings with cluster shells. The Washington Post could not independently verify the account. Russia continues to send “newly-mobilized and undertrained recruits” to reinforce depleted units in Ukraine, according to an assessment from the Institute for the Study of War think tank. The Russian Defense Ministry also said Wednesday that training for mobilized reservists has started in multiple places across the country. But readying those new troops will be challenging for the Kremlin, a U.S. official told reporters, given the logistics necessary to supply and train them. Return to menu NATO decries pipeline ‘sabotage’ amid efforts to measure environmental impact: The NATO military alliance has become the latest international organization to sound alarms after explosions at the Nord Stream pipelines in the Baltic Sea. It said the blasts appeared to be the result of “deliberate, reckless, and irresponsible acts of sabotage.” Images released Thursday by the Swedish Coast Guard show a large mass of methane bubbles on the sea surface emanating from the leaks. Cautioning that it was a preliminary estimate, Bjorn Lund, director of the Swedish National Seismic Network told The Washington Post’s Ellen Francis and Meg Kelly that the strength of the larger second blast was equivalent to 100-200 kilograms (220-440 pounds) of TNT. With the consensus among European leaders that sabotage was involved, suspicion is increasingly falling on Russia, which has denied all responsibility. Amar Nadhir, Mary Ilyushina and Isabelle Khurshudyan contributed to this report.

Statue Of Harry Truman To Be Unveiled, Dedicated In U.S. Capitol Rotunda – Yahoo News https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/statue-of-harry-truman-to-be-unveiled-dedicated-in-u-s-capitol-rotunda-yahoo-news/ Sep. 29—Lamar-born Harry S. Truman will become just the 10th U.S. president to be represented in the U.S. Capitol rotunda after the unveiling and dedication Thursday of a bronze statue of his likeness. The 33rd president is often remembered for his contributions to end World War II, the desegregation of the armed forces and the establishment of the United Nations, NATO and the National Security Council, so it’s fitting that he finally return to Washington, D.C., to be honored, say experts and officials who promote Truman’s legacy. “President Truman may be remembered largely in black and white, but he is a 21st-century standard for presidential leadership and public service. His story is our story, America’s story,” said Alex Burden, executive director of the Truman Library Institute, in a statement. “Inheriting a global catastrophe after World War II, Truman shouldered the burden of leadership in a rudderless world with remarkable courage, integrity and humility. That’s why it’s a tremendous honor to lead this effort to bring Truman back to Washington more than 75 years since he boldly led our nation through some of the most dramatic and consequential chapters in America’s history.” Truman was born in Lamar, where his birthplace remains a state historic site, and grew up in Independence. He was a farmer, small-businessman, Army veteran, county commissioner, U.S. senator and politician. He assumed the presidency April 12, 1945, after just 82 days of serving as vice president under Franklin D. Roosevelt. According to the Truman Library Institute, Truman as president led the country through world-defining decisions, including: —Ending World War II. —Forming the United Nations and NATO. —Desegregating the U.S. armed forces and federal workforce. —Enacting the National Security Act of 1947 to create the National Security Council, Central Intelligence Agency, U.S. Air Force and Joint Chiefs of Staff. —Recognizing the newly formed state of Israel. —Resisting communist expansion and establishing alliances that resulted in an era of peace and prosperity. ‘Admired’ by Missourians In a follow-up interview with the Globe, Burden said Truman, a Democrat, continues to have a strong bipartisan appeal. As a senator and president, Truman regularly worked both sides of the aisle and maintained good relationships with many Republicans, he said. “That ability to cross the aisle and put party aside … is a rare ingredient to find in a politician these days, but I think most people recognize that’s important,” he said. Even today, Truman is revered by politicians of all stripes. Missouri’s entire congressional delegation and state leaders, who are heavily Republican, were significant supporters of the statue project, Burden said. “President Truman’s tenacity, character and courage to confront difficult problems are values admired by his fellow Missourians and people who study our history,” said Missouri U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt, a Republican who played a crucial role in steering the project, in a statement. “No president faced more crucial decisions than those President Truman confronted in the first nine months of his presidency. It’s been an honor to work in the same Russell Senate offices he used for the last 12 years.” Truman also endears himself to people in the 21st century because he was honest and spoke plainly, he failed in several business ventures before going into politics, and he pushed for civil rights and desegregation, Burden said. “His character, I think, has an enduring appeal to people; the way he conducted his life and his business and his politics is without reproach,” he said. “I think he’s a political role model we can point to as an example of how we all want our elected officials to behave and comport themselves.” Lest anyone think a president of the 1940s is no longer relevant, in many ways we’re still living in Truman’s world decades later, Burden said. NATO, one of his creations, has reemerged on the international front because of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Years of relative peace in Western countries arose as a result of the Marshall Plan and Truman’s desire to see countries defeated in WWII restored as democracies. Many of his priorities, such as national health care and strong foreign policy, are still sought by political parties today. “I think we’re all benefiting from living in almost eight decades of peace and prosperity of the world order that Truman put in place in the late 1940s,” Burden said. About the statue The statue of Truman, standing 7.5 feet tall atop a 3-foot inscribed pedestal, will be installed in the Capitol rotunda, joining statues of presidents George Washington, Ulysses S. Grant, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, Andrew Jackson, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford. The project was spearheaded by the Truman Library Institute, which was founded by Truman himself as the nonprofit partner of the Harry S. Truman Presidential Library & Museum. The nonprofit collected $400,000 in donations from across the country for the project and also recently led a $30 million renovation of the Truman Library in Independence. Artist and sculptor Tom Corbin said in a statement that Truman was a president “who seemed to always be in motion.” As such, his statue portrays Truman walking down a set of steps “with a confident, open and welcoming quality” rather than standing still, as many other Capitol statues depict. Corbin and others involved in the project also spent a lot of time reviewing portraits, photographs, videos and personal items from Truman’s presidential years in order to get his likeness just right, said Cassie Pikarsky, director of strategic initiatives for the Truman Library Institute and project lead for the statue. “We also worked with members of Truman’s family to make sure to get every detail correct — from his World War I lapel pin and pocket square fold in his signature double-breasted suit to his Masonic ring with the number 33 that he always wore and his signature glasses,” she said in a statement. To make room for Truman, the statue of Alexander Hamilton will be relocated from the rotunda to the Hall of Columns. Additional statues in the rotunda are a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. and a portrait monument to Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. Truman’s statue also will become part of the National Statuary Hall Collection, which consists of 100 total statues, or two representing each of the 50 states. It will replace a marble statue of Thomas Hart Benton, a U.S. senator from Missouri and great-great-uncle of the Neosho-born painter of the same name. The Benton statue will be relocated to the State Historical Society of Missouri in Columbia.

‘Huge Increasing’ Of Smart Riding Suitcase, AIRWHEEL Promotes Future Travel Changes – GlobeNewswire https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/huge-increasing-of-smart-riding-suitcase-airwheel-promotes-future-travel-changes-globenewswire/ September 29, 2022 07:28 ET | Source: Airwheel BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, Sept. 29, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Recently, AIRWHEEL has promoted a variety of smart riding suitcase to bring users wide choices. The trolley suitcase has been around for 36 years since it came out in 1987. Perhaps it has become the main equipment in the current journey, and it has become a habit, but there is still space for improvement, and changes will eventually come. With the rapid development of intelligent technology, from mobile phones to refrigerators, TVs, etc., more equipment is undergoing the changes of intelligence, and luggage is no exception. It is no longer about changing the shape, color, pattern and material of the box, nor the pursuit of lightweight and luxury brand image. AIRWHEEL has added more technology to the luggage market, creatively bring a more convenient and technological future travel mode – smart riding suitcase. AIRWHEEL specializes in artificial intelligence, IoT sensing, robot deep learning, multi-dimensional transportation and other technical fields. It has established a Europe technology and R&D center in Brussels, and maintains close cooperation with many universities and research institutes, actively practicing the concept of “intelligence makes life more free”, hoping to achieve bold breakthroughs and industrial chain layout of intelligent technology in more traditional fields. At present, AIRWHEEL products sell well in 68 countries and regions around the world, have more than 400 patents, and have won two international IF design awards. The strength on the technology is an important advantage of AIRWHEEL smart riding suitcase. it can inject more possibilities into the market. With precise understanding of user habits and future technologies, AIRWHEEL has equipped the traditional luggage with an intelligent control system, so that the luggage not only used for storage, but can also be turned into a rideable transportation equipment. Such a new application has brought great changes to the journey. It is no longer necessary to drag a normal suitcase to run around in huge airports and stations until exhaustion. Now the riding is comfortable and the speed can reach 13km/h. For the smart riding suitcase, the realization of “ridable” does not mean that it is done. “Suitcase body strength”, “difficulty in getting started”, and “passable in multiple scenarios” are also the key! It can become an important start for the intelligent transformation of luggage. In terms of suitcase body strength, AIRWHEEL has a core patent, and use aviation-grade aluminum alloy to apply integrated molding technology to fully support the suitcase structure, so that the smart suitcase can bear the weight of every user. For the difficult to get started, and it also has core patents, which realizes a very simplified design without exposed external lines. Users only need to control the smart handlebars to easily achieve the riding needs of forward, brake, and reverse. For the passable in multiple scenarios, and the main core is adapted to multi-scenario vehicles. Each of Airwheel’s smart riding suitcase adopts a modular design, which can be disassembled and powered off at any time without tools, which is in line with the airline’s Safety requirements for lithium batteries. If you want to promote the popularity of new product, you must ensure that it is more mature and diverse. Whether it is AI algorithm, intelligent control, intelligent application, or new energy application, ergonomics, etc., AIRWHEEL has made bold attempts in luggage, and has launched a variety of intelligent luggage through repeated innovation experiments and integration of technologies in various fields. They are not simply Copy, but provide users with differentiated functions and services through mature technologies. Among them, there is a 20-inch AIRWHEEL SE3mini that can be accompanied by boarding. Whether it is a business trip or a vacation, it can accompany the user and fly globally; There are also special suitcases designed for children, mainly for parent-child travel, and also have the function of “smart speakers”, which can bring more fun to children’s daily life; For the Airwheel SE3S, which has further upgraded riding comfort, can easily cope with complex road conditions such as grass, sand, and speed bumps, and has a larger wheelbase, which is especially suitable for users with long legs; AIRWHEEL SE3T is developed for users with higher storage needs. With larger storage space, whether it is a journey, supermarket shopping or holiday camping, it can become a good companion with full power. It can be said that each smart riding suitcase launched by AIRWHEEL has subdivided the needs of users, and provided wide choices for different user. The development of smart suitcases may only take shape at present, but judging from the selection and usage of different users in various fields such as Olympic champions, stars, and celebrities, it is bound to converge into a boom in the near future. Leading the new trend of future travel, taking over the position of the existing traditional luggage. As the creator of a new way of travelling, AIRWHEEL will continue to innovate, promote the development and popularization of smart riding suitcase. and make life more free with intelligence! Andrea will take up his new position on 10 October 2022, succeeding John Foley who, in April 2022, announced his intention to retire after seven years in the role. John will step down as CEO and Executive Director on 10 October 2022, but will remain at M&G in an advisory capacity until 31 December 2022 in order to ensure an orderly transition. Andrea has a 22 year track record in the global insurance and asset management sectors, mainly through his time at AXA Group. He was CEO of AXA Investment Managers and a member of the Group Executive Committee of AXA Group for six years. Andrea also held senior roles at AXA’s insurance business across Europe and internationally. Under his leadership of AXA Investment Managers, assets under management increased by 55% to €800bn and AUM from external clients more than doubled. This growth was driven by a clear focus on systematically identifying and addressing client needs and through a transformation of underlying systems and processes. Most recently, Andrea has been a senior adviser to Boston Consulting Group. He will step down from this role following his appointment at M&G. He is also the co-founder of REsustain, a firm focussed on reducing the carbon intensity of commercial property, where he will remain as a Non-Executive Director. The appointment has been approved by the PRA and FCA. Edward Braham, Chair of M&G, said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Andrea Rossi as CEO of M&G. His deep experience in both global asset management and insurance is an ideal fit for M&G. I am honoured to have been selected as its next CEO and look forward to driving growth in the business while at the same time improving its efficiency to better serve client needs. There is an excellent team at M&G and I’m excited at the prospect of working with them to take the business forward.” Remuneration details can be found at the end of this announcement.

Nutrileads Investigates Consumer’s Nutraceutical Perceptions Through The Pandemic – Nutraceutical Business Review https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/nutrileads-investigates-consumers-nutraceutical-perceptions-through-the-pandemic-nutraceutical-business-review/ 29-Sep-2022 A NutriLeads consumer insights report has shown that consumer perceptions fundamentally changed through the pandemic NutriLeads, a health ingredients company, has announced the results of a new consumer insights report which shows that consumer views on immune health have changed fundamentally in the wake of COVID-19. The report draws on extensive data gathered by research company FMCG Gurus through consumer surveys conducted with 45,000 consumers from 15 countries across 2019, 2020, and 2022. According to the report, not only is immune health significantly more important to consumers, but immune health is also perceived to have a far-reaching impact on long-term health and wellbeing. Two-thirds of consumers worldwide say immune health is their top health priority over the next 12 months—more than digestive health, heart health, or any other health issue. In addition, some 78% of consumers view poor immune health as being easily susceptible to long-term health problems. This research shows us that the experience of living with the pandemic is likely to have a lasting effect “It’s clear that during the pandemic, consumers have been paying attention to their immune health more than ever before,” said Joana Carneiro, NutriLeads CEO. “This research shows us that the experience of living with the pandemic is likely to have a lasting effect. Consumers are more knowledgeable about immune health and place more importance on improving it on the longer term.” Among the trends highlighted in the report is the greater number of consumers (40%) who are taking a proactive approach to their immune health even if they believe they are in good health. What’s more, consumers are taking a holistic approach to their wellbeing, incorporating exercise and fresh food in their lifestyle, and paying attention to digestive health and mental wellbeing. At the same time, consumers expect more from immune health products. Eight in 10 global respondents to the survey say the top three claims they want to see on the label of immunity products are scientifically validated and clinically-proven (82%), multifunctional benefits (79%), and helps lead a healthy lifestyle (79%). Tyson Fury Sets Anthony Joshua Another New Deadline | ‘Get This Contract Signed Today’ – Sky Sports https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/tyson-fury-sets-anthony-joshua-another-new-deadline-get-this-contract-signed-today-sky-sports/ Tyson Fury has returned to negotiations for the all-British heavyweight super-fight with Anthony Joshua. But Fury has set his rival another deadline and called for him to sign the contract for their showdown today. “My promoter Frank Warren convinced me to let Queensberry carry on negotiating with your team this week, despite me knowing that you were never going to do this fight,” Fury said. Tyson Fury: Let’s find out if Joe Joyce can beat me Joe Joyce: I’d get to Oleksandr Usyk! Wilder expects fourth Fury fight Please use Chrome browser for a more accessible video player Fury believes Joe Joyce is currently the second-best heavyweight in the world and admits he could fight his fellow Brit in the future Both Fury and Joshua are aligned with different broadcasters. Bringing those networks to an agreement on a TV deal was seen as a key stumbling block in the negotiations for this fight. But Fury has claimed that the rival broadcasters are “all happy with the terms”. “So the deadline was Monday,” Fury said. “I allowed Frank to continue doing meetings with your team and your broadcasters and all that. Now we have BT, DAZN and ESPN all on the same page. They are happy with everything, they are all ready to rock and roll. “You guys ask for a lot of stuff, you want to be co-promoters when you’re a voluntary challenger. Guess what, I said give it them, let them be co-promoters. “You wanted full transparency, even though you’re not an equal shareholder in this party. You know what I said? Give them full transparency, I’ve got nothing to hide, I’m not trying to rob anybody, I’ve not robbed anybody of a penny in my life. “So now you’ve got full transparency, everything is clean and fair. Now Joshua, the ball is really in your court son.” Joshua has previously insisted that he would sign the contract, but it had to go through his lawyers and management team. In a direct challenge to him, Fury declared, “Everybody is done. If you’re a man, and if you’ve got any sort of dignity and pride about you, you’ll get this contract signed today. This is it. There is no more days, weeks, months, you’ve had the contract now for over two weeks and you still haven’t signed it. “Show the public that you’re really the big coward that I know you are, and don’t sign it. I don’t care either way if you sign it or you don’t, it makes no difference to me at all. You’re a beaten man and I’m a world champion. I’m chucking you a massive bone, but I know I can punch a face in so I’m willing to give you an opportunity. Please use Chrome browser for a more accessible video player Dillian Whyte says he’d be happy to fight Joshua in December if his proposed fight with Fury doesn’t get made “There’s nothing more to do, everyone is happy. Get your team onto mine, they will be available all day, like they’ve been available the last two weeks. Get this contract signed! “Let the British fans have what they want. There is no running, you have to fight me. You cannot escape. The Fury is coming.” But Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has told Sky Sports that he is ‘quite baffled’ by Fury’s latest ultimatum, with ‘positive conversations’ still ongoing between both promotional teams. “I don’t want to get involved with back and forths that are going to negatively impact this fight being made, but to be honest, we are quite baffled by the situation,” said Hearn. “Firstly, when we agreed terms for the fight, it took us over a week to receive a draft contract. We have not had that contract for 14 days. Image: Eddie Hearn is still attempting to finalise the Fury vs Joshua fight “Over the next week, we’ve worked tirelessly and had a number of meetings with Queensberry to get the contract in some kind of decent shape. Last Monday, we sent our final draft of the contract to Queensberry, only to see that Tyson Fury had publicly pulled out of the fight and it was no longer on the table. “Yesterday we then received comments back from Queensberry on our final draft of the agreement, of which is now being reviewed. “I’m not sure why Tyson Fury keeps setting unrealistic deadlines whilst also offering the fight to a number of other heavyweights for the selected date. If he is serious about the fight being made, I suggest he allows Matchroom and Queensberry to keep working hard to make the fight, of which everyone has been trying hard to do. “You can’t publicly keep pulling out of a fight and then restart negotiations when there has been so many positive conversations had. We’ll see what happens from here.” Usyk expects to fight Fury early next year Anthony Joshua is no longer a world champion after losing the IBF, WBO and WBA titles to Oleksandr Usyk last year. Usyk defended his unified championship when he won last month’s rematch against Joshua. The Ukrainian star was initially Fury’s target for an undisputed title clash. But when Usyk revealed that injury would prevent him boxing again this year, the WBC titlist’s attention shifted to the negotiations with Joshua. Usyk’s team however believes that his fight with Fury will still happen. Alexander Krassyuk, Usyk’s promoter, told Sky Sports that: “There won’t be Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua.” He expects Fury to be Usyk’s next fight early in 2023.

Effective Nov. 1, Robert Triefus will take on the role of chief executive officer of Gucci Vault and Metaverse Ventures in addition to his newly appointed position as senior executive vice president, corporate and brand strategy. Previously he was executive vice president, brand and client engagement. Triefus, who reports to president and CEO Marco Bizzarri, succeeds Nicolas Oudinot, executive vice president of new business and Gucci Vault CEO, who will leave the luxury company at the end of October to pursue other opportunities. In his new role, Triefus will focus on emerging opportunities for brand expansion, shaping and scaling the house’s metaverse and gaming strategies. He will also oversee Gucci Vault, the new experimental online space launched in September 2021, which he helped develop with creative director Alessandro Michele. Triefus has contributed to craft Gucci’s approach to gaming and Web3, collaborating with Roblox for example. In March, Gucci collaborated with virtual shop 10KTF to create the “10KTF Gucci Grail” project, a new NFT initiative taking place in Gucci Vault, which has been playing host to a series of crypto-based projects, including NFT drops such as the SuperGucci collaboration with Superplastic. With the objective to further scale these brand activities, Micael Barilaro, currently new businesses gaming and collectibles director, was appointed vice president of Metaverse Ventures. Triefus joined Gucci in 2008 as worldwide marketing and communications director from the Giorgio Armani Group, where he held the role of executive vice president of worldwide communications. Nothing Ear Stick’s ‘roll-To-Open’ Mechanism Revealed In New Video – The Indian Express https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/nothing-ear-sticks-roll-to-open-mechanism-revealed-in-new-video-the-indian-express/ Here’s everything we know about Nothing’s next earbuds so far. (Image Source: Nothing) Nothing’s next product, its second pair of TWS earbuds called the ‘Ear Stick’ has not seen an official launch yet, but has already been spotted twice on social media. While we still do not know much about the technical specifications of the earbuds, the video gives us a glimpse of how the case opens and closes to allow access to the earbuds themselves. Unlike traditional earbud cases, including that of the Nothing Ear (1), the Ear Stick case, which is made to look like a fashion accessory, actually ‘rolls’ in place to open and close. The new case does look pretty cool, and the rolling mechanism does give it a touch of uniqueness compared to the sea of clamshell TWS cases we already have. But a few questions that will still need some answering include details on the longevity of the hingle-less case as well as more details on the earbuds themselves. Check out the video below. As per leaks from earlier this year, the Nothing Ear Stick could be very similar to the Ear (1) earbuds in design and its feature-set, but other leaks have suggested we will not be seeing Active Noise cancellation on the Ear Stick. Nothing is yet to launch the product officially, and while it continues to build hype for its product through small glimpses, we’d still have to wait for the launch to know more details on what’s actually new with the earbuds. In other news, the Nothing Phone (1) which recently got a pricing discount in India as part of the country’s festive sales, is now getting a new OTA update which bumps up the phone’s software to Nothing OS 1.1.4 and brings many camera improvements along with some new features and bug fixes. © IE Online Media Services Pvt Ltd First published on: 29-09-2022 at 04:29:31 pm

Surging Bitcoin-Sterling Trading Volume Points To Hedging Demand For Crypto, Or Does It? – CoinDesk https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/surging-bitcoin-sterling-trading-volume-points-to-hedging-demand-for-crypto-or-does-it-coindesk/ The bitcoin-British pound (BTC/GBP) pair listed on major cryptocurrency exchanges, including Bitstamp and Bitfinex, is more active than ever. Analysts, however, are divided on whether the surge stems from investors switching to the largest cryptocurrency to protect against the sterling slide or from traders looking to profit from the volatility. On Sept. 26, the day the pound crashed to a record low $1.035, trading volume in the pair listed on those two exchanges climbed to a record $881 million. That’s 12 times the $70 million average daily volume of the past two years, according to data tweeted by James Butterfill, head of research at CoinShares, early this week. The pound’s weakness was prompted by concerns over the U.K.’s fiscal health stemming from the new government’s tax-cut plans. This month, the currency has weakened 7% against the dollar, the steepest drop since December 2016. “An explosion in bitcoin trading against the pound underlines the potential of the biggest cryptocurrency to benefit from an apparent fragility in fiat currencies,” analysts at Bitfinex said in an email. Messari’s Tom Dunleavy voiced a similar opinion in a research piece published Wednesday, saying European investors are snapping up bitcoin in the wake of the rapidly depreciating British pound and the euro. Some observers, however, say trading volume – the total number of units or contracts exchanged between buyers and sellers – is an unreliable indicator of investor positioning. For every buyer, there is a seller, so it’s equally possible to argue argue that investors sold bitcoin as the pound took a hit. “If you’re selling BTC for EUR or GBP, the volume will spike,” said David Belle, founder of market news service and trading community platform Macrodesiac.com and U.K. growth director at TradingView. “Same as if you’re buying it.” Bitcoin enthusiasts have long hailed the cryptocurrency as a better alternative to fiat currencies and gold. That’s because the cryptocurrency’s reward halving – a programmed reduction in the pace of supply expansion every four years – goes counter to the ever-increasing supply of fiat. Cryptocurrencies have been embraced in Turkey and other nations where confidence in the national currency has been shaken due to high inflation, government policies and relentless depreciation. Still, the increase in trading volume may be due to exchange-rate volatility, and traders selling pounds and euros to build a crypto stash, according to trader and analyst Alex Kruger. Those who bought bitcoin may not be planning to hold for the long term. When facing a fiat currency slide, investors often snap up cryptocurrencies to move money overseas and buy dollarized assets while bypassing the traditional banking channel. The measure of expected price turbulence, or implied volatility, in major currencies, including the pound, recently climbed above similar measures for developing-nation currencies, Bloomberg reported. Chart shows native currencies of developed economies recently turned more volatile than developing nation currencies. (Bloomberg) More volatility often leads to higher volumes in any market as seasoned traders buy and sell large quantities to capture profit. So the increase in the BTC/GBP volume may have stemmed from speculators rather than investors looking to snap up BTC as an inflation hedge. It’s also possible traders have been scurrying to take advantage of the arbitrage opportunity offered by the pound’s volatility. Arbitrage refers to simultaneously buying and selling the same asset in different markets to profit from tiny differences in the asset’s listed price. “We noticed BTC vs GBP is dislocating from BTC vs. other fiat currencies, which means it is most likely a simple arbitrage trade,” Clara Medalie, research director at crypto data provider Kaiko, said. “The uptick in BTC/GBP volume does not necessarily mean traders are diversifying into bitcoin.” Bitcoin’s price in the GBP market has diverged from prices in other fiat currency markets, creating an arbitrage opportunity. (Kaiko) While volumes in BTC/GBP have increased, the overall activity still remains low compared to the broader market. “The pure BTC/GBP cross (at least on Binance, which should be the leading benchmark with their volumes) trades only $95 million. That’s tiny compared to the $9.5bn that Binance executes in BTC/USDT cross,” Markus Thielen, chief investment officer at British Virgin Islands-based IDEG Asset Management, said. “If volumes are really driven by U.K.-based people, then the BTC/GBP cross on Binance should trade a lot more. We have seen this BTC/RUB had elevated levels of volumes initially during the Ukraine conflict,” he said.

U.S. Into FIBA World Cup Semifinals After Test, Triple-Double Watch – NBC Sports https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/u-s-into-fiba-world-cup-semifinals-after-test-triple-double-watch-nbc-sports/ SYDNEY — Alyssa Thomas and her United States teammates were tested for the first time in the World Cup by a physical Serbia team. After a slow start, the Americans used a dominant run spanning the half to take control of the game and reach the semifinals again. Thomas had 13 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists to help the U.S. beat Serbia 88-55 in the quarterfinals of the women’s World Cup on Thursday. “I think you expect every team’s best punch in the first quarter,” Thomas said. “We just had to settle into the game and once we settled in, then we were really able to break away.” Kelsey Plum scored 17 points and A’ja Wilson added 15 to lead the Americans (6-0) into the semifinals. “They played super physical, more physical than we’ve seen the entire tournament,” Plum said. “Credit to them. I felt that early-on their pressure bothered us a little bit, but we were able to kind of get under control.” MORE: FIBA World Cup Schedule, Results The Americans had run through pool play, winning by 46.2 points per game and hadn’t faced any kind of challenge. Serbia (3-2) wasn’t afraid though, going right at the U.S. The Serbians scored the first basket of the game — marking the first time the Americans trailed in the tournament. It was back-and-forth for the first 17 minutes, with the U.S. failing to go on any major run. Then, with 2:59 left in the half and the U.S. up by five, Kahleah Copper drove to the basket and was fouled. She landed hard on her hip and had to be helped off the court by the U.S. training staff. Copper, who has been a sparkplug for the U.S. in her first tournament, didn’t return. “It’s too early to tell,” Reeve said of the extent of Copper’s injury. “We’re getting her some imaging and we’ll have information later.” Plum replaced Cooper and hit the two free throws, starting a 12-0 run to close the half as the Americans led 50-33 at the break. Thomas had 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals in the opening 20 minutes. The U.S. extended its run to 20 straight points in the third quarter before Serbia finally ended a nearly 8 1/2 minutes drought with a 3-pointer by Yvonne Anderson. That cut the deficit to 22 points. Serbia didn’t get much closer after that. Anderson led Serbia with 14 points. Betnijah Laney went down hard early in the fourth quarter on a put-back. She left the game and sat on the bench for the rest of the game. “She took a hard fall,” Reeve said. “She was in the locker room afterwards and I think in her case it was a little more of it took the wind out of her.” The victory was the 28th in a row in World Cup play for the Americans, who haven’t lost since the 2006 semifinals against Russia. The Soviet Union holds the World Cup record with 56 straight wins from 1959-86. After going unbeaten in pool play again, the U.S. reached at least the semifinals for the 12th consecutive tournament, dating to 1975. That year completed a cycle in which the Americans lost 14 games combined in four tournaments. They’ve only lost five games since. PICASSO IT WAS NOT The U.S. had dominated the paint even without Brittney Griner, outscoring its opponents by an average of 60.8-24.4 in pool play. Serbia held a 20-16 advantage at the half and ended up outscoring the Americans 28-26 in the game by constantly having two or three players inside to clog up the middle. “It’s one of those things you got to live with,” Wilson said. “Hopefully these next couple of games we can get back to owning the paint. Serbia did a great job of locking it down. TRIPLE-DOUBLE WATCH Thomas, who had a triple-double in each of the last two games in the WNBA Finals, fell just short again of getting the first one at the World Cup since Erika Dobrovicova in 1994 for the Slovak Republic against Spain. Assists and rebounds weren’t kept before 1994. Thomas had 14 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in the opener against Belgium. TIP-INS Jewell Loyd returned to the U.S. starting lineup a game after resting according to the team. She had eight points. OlympicTalk is on Apple News. Favorite us! The new-look team includes nobody over the age of 30 for the first time since 1994, before the U.S. began its dynasty at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Mein, who grew up on a small farm in Southeast Kansas, hunting deer and quail, nearly squandered a place in the final when he missed his last three shots in the semifinal round after hitting his first 22. He rallied in a sudden-death shoot-off for the last spot in the final by hitting all five of his targets. He hit 33 of 34 targets in the final to win by two over Brit Nathan Hales with one round to spare. The last U.S. man to win an Olympic trap title was Donald Haldeman in 1976. Mein, 37, was 24th in his Olympic debut in Tokyo (and placed 13th with Kayle Browning in the mixed-gender team event). Light Science Technology Shares Surge On Contract And Trial News | Financial News – London South East https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/light-science-technology-shares-surge-on-contract-and-trial-news-financial-news-london-south-east/ (Alliance News) – Light Science Technologies PLC on Thursday said it has received additional orders from an existing customer as well as signed two trials for its new sensorGROW product. Shares in the Derbyshire, England-based agricultural lighting and monitoring systems provider were trading 9.6% higher at 7.40 pence each in London on Thursday morning. Light Science Technologies also operates in the pest control and oil and gas sectors. It received additional orders worth GBP500,000 from Rentokil Initial PLC, a pest control company, in addition to existing forward order contracts. The new orders are expected to be fulfilled between November 2022 and March 2023. The company said that its contract electronics manufacturing division – which formed its partnership with Rentokil over 10 years ago – continues to grow in line with expectations, driven by a strong demand for UK manufacturing in light of supply chain disruption. The controlled environmental agriculture division has signed two trial contracts for the recently launched sensorGROW product. The company said that if these trials are successful, they could generate subscriptions worth GBP940,000. sensorGROW was launched in June 2022 and its technology enables farmers to monitor key growing factors such as CO2 levels, light and soil pH levels in real time. The company said the sensorGROW product provides an additional high-margin route to market. Chief Executive Officer Simon Deacon said: “We are delighted that Rentokil has chosen to increase its forward orders with us, as it shows our commitment to quality and high levels of service. This contract demonstrates the continued demand for UK manufacture, as we see customers focus on maintaining mid-term supply chain as well as controlling costs. “I am also pleased to see confirmation of several sensorGROW trial contracts and expect more to be forthcoming. This demonstrates how growers see the importance of combining intelligence and increasing productivity to maximise yields within their indoor growing environments in a time when energy efficiency is crucial.” By Chris Dorrell; chrisdorrell@alliancenews.com Copyright 2022 Alliance News Limited. Accused Murder Suspect Once Had Restraining Order Against Missing Woman In Washington County – Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/accused-murder-suspect-once-had-restraining-order-against-missing-woman-in-washington-county-northwest-arkansas-democrat-gazette/ FAYETTEVILLE — A man police have accused of killing his former girlfriend and disposing of her body filed for and was briefly granted a temporary order of protection against the woman in June. Kacey Jennings, 28, was arrested Monday in connection with capital murder and abuse of a corpse after being released from a local medical facility, according to a post on the Fayetteville Police Department’s Facebook page. Jennings is set to be arraigned Oct. 19 in Washington County Circuit Court. The case involves the disappearance of 28-year-old Allison Maria Castro, who has been reported missing by her family. The Benton County Dive Team and Fayetteville police were searching an area of Beaver Lake near the Arkansas 12 bridge and boat launch for evidence Wednesday, according to police. Jennings petitioned for an order of protection against Castro the morning of June 8, according to Washington County Circuit Court records. The petition said Jennings believed he continued to be in immediate danger of domestic abuse and had been in contact with Fayetteville police about Castro. “I’m terrified of someone violent in my home,” Jennings wrote in the petition. Jennings said Castro had broken up with him in May, but they continued to live together and he continued to support her financially. He said he asked Castro’s boyfriend to take her in. “I was awoken to bright lights in my head as Allison was punching my face and protected my eyes from being scratched out,” Jennings wrote in an affidavit accompanying the June 8 petition. Jennings said in the affidavit the incident occurred earlier that morning. Jennings said Castor left his bedroom and he locked the door and called police. “I contacted the Fayetteville Police Department to assist me in leaving the house,” Jennings wrote in the affidavit. “While I was on the phone with dispatch, Allison was banging on my door telling me to open it and told me that she was going to beat me some more and kill me.” Circuit Judge Doug Martin granted an order of protection later that afternoon. The order said it was effective until July 1 and applied to Jennings’ home and place of employment. The order restrained Castro from having any contact with Jennings and from committing any criminal act against Jennings, including acts of violence, domestic abuse, harassment, harassing communications, stalking or terroristic threatening. Castro was also ordered to appear in court on July 1. On the morning of June 10, Jennings filed a petition to dismiss the order of protection. He said Castro said she was leaving the state and he was no longer in fear of her. “The incident triggered my PTSD of being beaten for the first 13 years of my life, leading me to make a rash decision,” Jennings wrote. “I do not think the respondent (Castro) is a danger to my life or a threat.” Martin granted the dismissal the same day. Police went Sept. 19 to a residence and found Jennings, who was experiencing an apparent drug overdose, according to the Facebook post. Several documents were discovered at the scene indicating Jennings possibly killed Castro and disposed of her body, the post said. Castro’s family members told police Jennings and Castro had been in a relationship and lived together, according to the post. She was entered as a missing person after a family member told police they were unable to contact her and were concerned for her safety, according to the post. The investigation is ongoing and police are working with other law enforcement agencies to locate Castro, according to the post. Anyone with information concerning the case can contact Fayetteville police at (479) 587-3555.

Built on a successful North American program, CTRx Europe offers significant benefits for trial sponsors, sites, and patients alike. “With the growth of our CTRx service in North America, clients have been asking us to develop the same solution for them in Europe. Our new CTRx Europe solution is a game-changer for clinical sites in Europe,” said James Lovett, Chief Executive Officer at Myonex. “Our solution will offer support for sites to source local drug for local patients, in individual European countries. Sponsors can remove overage and eliminate costs associated with up-front bulk comparator purchases, inventory management, and expired drugs. The program has delivered tremendous results in the United States and Canada, and we are pleased to be able to offer similar flexibility and savings in Europe.” Through its partnerships with central dispensing pharmacies in major European markets, Myonex can offer on-demand local sourcing. The CTRx solution provides sponsors with in-country local pricing and access to key oncology and other specialty medications and hospital lines. Myonex’s CTRx solution supports traditional, decentralized, and hybrid trials. In processes tailored to meet local regulations, both sponsor investigational medicinal products and commercial drugs, as well as ancillary items, can be delivered directly to the clinical site, central nursing center, a nurse, or even to the patient’s home. “The direct-to-patient offering makes adherence easier,” said Samit Bhatt, Senior Director, Clinical Trial Patient Solutions, at Myonex. “And because our local partners serve local markets, logistics costs per patient and site shipment are lower, and sponsors can see significantly improved study start-up time.” CTRx Europe is part of an end-to-end suite of clinical trial supply solutions from Myonex that also includes expanded packaging and labeling capabilities; warehousing, storage, and distribution; project management and more. 5 Reasons Why Shopping From Roposo Was Such A Pleasant Experience ScoopWhoop
5 Reasons Why Shopping From Roposo Was Such A Pleasant Experience ScoopWhoop
5 Reasons Why Shopping From Roposo Was Such A Pleasant Experience – ScoopWhoop https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/5-reasons-why-shopping-from-roposo-was-such-a-pleasant-experience-scoopwhoop/ In association with Roposo First things first, retail therapy is real. Sometimes just pampering yourself with something nice and new could feel so good. And it’s okay to invest in pieces for your wardrobe every once in a while. However, there are a bunch of issues that come with online shopping like tricky delivery dates and irrelevant products. Amidst all of this, I had been hearing about Roposo and wanted to try it out. It’s not easy to find so many unique collections under one roof, but Roposo took care of it.  And honestly, it was such a great experience. Here are 5 reasons why: 1. All the latest trends in one place? YES. Roposo has a lot of different quirky Indian brands like Darzi and Oxolloxo. They have a great collection of clothes and accessories. Darzi has been doing a great job with bringing the right touch of western outfits in the Indian climate, especially with their bodycon dresses and peasant-sleeved outfits, I mean look at this dress! 2. The interface was pretty fun to use! I didn’t have to endlessly scroll through hundreds of products to find the one that I like, it’s literally so boring. But not on Roposo. The best part about it was the product-tagged videos where you can shop the look across brands and categories like shoes, dresses, menswear, ethnic, etc. Unlike some other shopping sites where the clothes are all out of fashion and irrelevant in the current scenario, Roposo really kicked it up a notch by also having very cool influencer clothes that you can spot on their socials. 3. Versatility for the win. And lastly, the collection is very versatile. No matter what aesthetic, body type, occasion, or style you are looking for, you will find it on Roposo. It caters to all types of fashion items you can think of. From floral dresses, to cool unisex t-shirts and pretty handmade necklaces, they have EVERYTHING. Check out this lovely necklace I had my heart set on. You also find a bunch of other collections like gym wear, gadgets, and cool accessories. 4. And the hassle-free exchanges! I saw none of those threatening ‘no-return/exchange’ policies. I absolutely cannot shop from stores that don’t issue refunds or exchanges even if they send wrong or faulty items. Here you can also use the COD option, unlike most shopping sites these days. So it’s pretty safe to shop on Roposo. Also, a major perk is free shipping! The hefty shipping charges after you’ve already splurged make your wallet cry, and Roposo has taken care of that. Hence, free shipping! 5. It catered to my broke-ness. As satisfying as retail therapy can get, it’s also an expensive affair. But here, I found pretty good deals. The clothes were affordable and also had great discounts. Roposo also has a bunch of great home decor stuff which are listed at great prices. So you might wanna check that out too. Some of the pieces (like this one) were a total steal. Win-win. In all, I would recommend checking out the app if you like shopping and want a better all-round experience. Shop all the cool stuff here!

This Robot Choses Ethereum And 5 Altcoins For Massive Short Gains – Crypto News Flash https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/this-robot-choses-ethereum-and-5-altcoins-for-massive-short-gains-crypto-news-flash/ Traders say they would favor Bitcoin and four altcoins in their portfolios for the week. According to a survey, ETH, QNT, USDC, Binance, and Bitcoin were voted to be overweight this week. Popular for outperforming the markets, The Real Vision Bot has unveiled its latest weekly crypto portfolio allocations. The robot provides new algorithm portfolio assessments weekly from its interpretation of surveys of crypto-related metrics and market trends. Cryptocurrency-related metrics can be calculated using a wide range of tools, including market capitalizations and 24-hour trading volume. Others are funding rates, circulating supply, maximum supply market price, inflow, and so on.  The Real Vision Bot began as a research project that uses AI advancements to analyze the opinions of financial investment professionals. Also, the Bot conducts constant and intense analysis using its AI skills to provide great insights into the current market condition to its audience. Basically, the data-crunching Bot conducts two surveys on a weekly basis. They are “The Real Vision Exchange Macro Survey” and “The Real Vision Exchange Crypto Survey”. These surveys are the basis of the two portfolios reconstructed by Bot: Exchange Macro Portfolio and Hive Mind Crypto Portfolio.  Furthermore, the Real Vision Bot compares the data from the generated portfolios with its own portfolios, which are extracted from interviews, market trends, metrics of various different tokens, and surveys. Thereafter, it releases a current allocation and performance of both portfolios. The Real Vision Bot Highlights Bitcoin and 4 Altcoins as “Voted to Overweight” In a recent survey report, the automated Bot, which is reputedly known for outdoing BTC, has chosen notable altcoins ahead of the world’s first crypto coin. The world’s largest cryptocurrency by market cap, BTC occupies the fifth position on traders’ preference scale this week.  According to the release, the Bot has selected Ethereum coin (ETH), interoperable blockchain platform Quant (QNT), Circle-backed stablecoin USD coin (USDC), and crypto exchange Binance’s BNB ahead of BTC. Other altcoins listed are eco-friendly payments-focused Algorand (ALGO) and blockchain ecosystem Cosmos (ATOM).  Below is the hierarchical list of the top 5 coins and their respective percentage. The analysis result was released on the Bot’s official Twitter handle: Ethereum 58% QNT 33% USDC 26% Binance 22% Bitcoin 20% Major altcoins, including Algorand, Polygon, Cosmos, Solana, and XRP, plied behind BTC on the list. Every week, survey participants underweight/overweight tokens from a selected list of potential candidates. These participants can vote to remove or add new tokens to the list. Sometimes, the decision is left to the Bot.  The Bot has proven to be a functional financial oracle with its timely and accurate predictions. It was co-developed by Quant analyst and hedge fund CEO Moritz Seibert and statistician Moritz Heiden. The founder of Real Vision, Raoul Pal, has described the Bot’s historical performance as “astonishing”, mentioning that it outperforms an aggregated bucket of top 20 crypto assets on the market by more than 20 percent.

Who Should Make The U.S. Men’s National Team Roster For The 2022 World Cup In Qatar? Our Writers Give Their Wish Lists. – The Philadelphia Inquirer https://bentoncountynewsnow.com/who-should-make-the-u-s-mens-national-team-roster-for-the-2022-world-cup-in-qatar-our-writers-give-their-wish-lists-the-philadelphia-inquirer/ Andrea Canales: Ugh. Well, that last match was dire, folks. I feel like the players who didn’t make this friendly roster and participate in these two doleful UMSNT matches might have been the ones who helped themselves the most. And Gio Reyna got hurt. I love Reyna’s playing style, love what he is capable of, but can we get past the notion that there’s any room on the World Cup roster for injured players who are there for moral support or one miracle play? In other words, Reyna should not be like his dad in 1994 or John O’Brien in 2006. Take players who can actually play without putting themselves and the team at risk in games. I don’t want to see Reyna or anyone else on the roster unless they’re capable of at least a full half of all-out game play. It’s bad enough watching Weston McKennie as a shadow of his former self because he’s still working his way back from injury. So now that the final friendlies are done, who do we think should make the USMNT’s 2022 World Cup roster? Jonathan Tannenwald: The most important thing I’ve seen so far is that we didn’t learn anything we didn’t already know. The only person whose stock went up is Matt Turner, and we’ll never know what would have happened if Zack Steffen had been healthy enough to travel. Then again, he played for Middlesbrough after being omitted supposedly because of injury. I don’t want to get suspicious about that, but I can’t help wondering. The number one thing we already knew is the limitations of Jesús Ferreira and Ricardo Pepi. Granting that Pepi barely got any service today, he didn’t do much to prove to me that he should be on the plane over Jordan Pefok. Ferreira once again got the U.S.’ best chance in a game, but shot it straight at Saudi Arabia’s goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Rubaie. I also was surprised that Josh Sargent didn’t play at all against Saudi Arabia. Gregg Berhalter seemed sort of remorseful in what was a pretty short and very terse postgame news conference. But it wasn’t anyone else’s choice to not give Sargent any run. If it was up to me, my three strikers on the plane would be Sargent, Pefok and Ferreira, from starter on down. It seems pretty clear that Berhalter will stick with Ferreira, Pepi and Sargent in that order. Canales: For the strikers, I’d pick Pepi, Pefok and Ferreira. My reasoning is that there’s room for a couple of redemption stories on the USMNT roster — Pepi and Pefok on the club level — though Sargent’s comeback is also inspiring. I agree completely with you, JT, that Berhalter should have given him a run out, but he didn’t. So it comes down to a personal consideration of valuing what the strikers have done for club and country. I lean more toward form than system, and if Berhalter leaves off Pefok because he prefers guys who are a better system fit, then I say Berhalter doesn’t deserve a second cycle even if the US advances from World Cup group play. Granted, I’m on record as being against renewing USMNT manager contracts in general, partly in order to keep perspectives on rosters and tactics fresh, not biased. In the midfield, I’ll posit that by his absence, Yunus Musah revealed the truth that he may be the most important player on the USMNT roster today. Sure, the team played better against Saudi Arabia than against Japan, partly because Christian Pulisic played, but it was an incremental improvement rather than a massive one. Another position where I learn toward form is with goalkeepers, and right now, I’d give the starting spot to Matt Turner based on that. Sure, I still think Zack Steffen can get the job done, but don’t believe he’s the best option at present. Tannenwald: I’m against second cycles on principle, too. As for Sargent, I think he’s simply a better player than Pepi and Ferreira. If Pepi goes off in the Netherlands over the next month, Ferreira would be my odd one out – he’s good, but the other three guys have better pedigrees. As important as all the other stuff a striker does can be, the most important thing is putting the ball in the net when the 90 minutes only give you one or two chances to do it. Gustav Elvin: For me, goalkeeper Matt Turner was the biggest winner among the players in camp, as he was excellent against Japan and really kept that 2-0 scoreline respectable. While he is unlikely to play regularly at Arsenal barring an injury to Aaron Ramsdale, Turner may have done enough here to earn the No. 1 shirt. Zack Steffen’s play has been uneven at Middlesbrough to say the least and it feels as if Turner has at least closed the gap in the competition to be the USMNT’s starting goalkeeper. I’ve long said Turner is the better shot-stopper and for the U.S., that should be the deciding factor heading into a World Cup. » READ MORE: Free Pefok? Debating the World Cup credentials of U.S. strikers Pefok was also a winner here, despite not being called in for the two tune-up friendlies. Controversial selection Ricardo Pepi failed to take his “last chance” against Saudi Arabia or produce anything that would indicate he should be included on the roster. Meanwhile, Jesus Ferreira failed to convince in front of goal again, including with one gilt-edged chance against Japan, while in-form Josh Sargent was only given 45 minutes by Gregg Berhalter vs. Japan during the window. Yunus Musah’s absence was also apparent during these two games, as the U.S. struggled in the middle of the park without his energy, tenacity and ability on the ball. Luca de la Torre was particularly poor against Japan, as was full-back Reggie Cannon, who was another who hurt his stock this window as he competes for a roster spot with the likes of DeAndre Yedlin and Joe Scally. Canales: Well, at least Mexico fans can commiserate with USA ones in terms of feeling frustration with a coach who won’t call an in-form striker even when it seems the team really needs it. Though I still think there’s a far better chance Gregg Berhalter comes around to adding Pefok than Tata Martino budges on refusing Chicharito. Here’s my final list: Goalkeepers — Matt Turner, Zack Steffen, Sean Johnson. Left backs — Antonee Robinson, Joe Scally Right backs — Sergiño Dest, DeAndre Yedlin, Reggie Cannon Centerbacks — Walker Zimmerman, Chris Richards, Erik Palmer-Brown, Mark McKenzie Defensive midfielders — Tyler Adams, Kellyn Acosta Attacking midfielders — Yunus Musah, Weston McKennie, Luca de la Torre, Malik Tillman. Left wingers — Christian Pulisic, Brenden Aaronson. Right wingers — Gio Reyna (only if healthy), Tim Weah, Haji Wright Strikers — Jesús Ferreira, Jordan Pefok, Ricardo Pepi, Tannenwald: You mean U.S. fans in the present can commiserate with U.S. fans of the past about a coach sticking to personal principle about which strikers he brings? Maybe that can be our next roundtable… Here’s my final list, making it clear that it’s who I would take and not who I think Berhalter will take: Goalkeepers — Turner, Steffen, Johnson. Left backs — Robinson, Scally (who can play both flanks), Sam Vines Right backs — Dest, Yedlin Centerbacks — Zimmerman, Richards, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Palmer-Brown (McKenzie is the first name out) Defensive midfielders — Adams, Acosta Attacking midfielders — Musah, McKennie, de la Torre, Tillman Left wingers — Pulisic, Aaronson Right wingers — Reyna (no disclaimers about health here), Weah, Paul Arriola (as a late-game defensive closer) Strikers — Pefok, Josh Sargent, Ferreira » READ MORE: Gregg Berhalter says the USMNT’s current strikers are more different than fans think Elvin: Here are my picks for the final roster list. The Missouri House was debating an amendment to an elections bill that would prevent transgender women from playing on all-female teams. Mackey told Basye he was “afraid of people like you growing up. I grew up in Hickory County, Missouri. I grew up in a school district that would vote tomorrow to put this in place.” The impassioned speech went viral on TikTok and Twitter. Rather than take his tongue-lashing like a man, Basye tried to save face by releasing a statement calling Mackey a “loudmouth crybaby.” On Facebook he wrote, “Ian is a man I think, but I’ll need to check on a few pronouns before I can certify!” When one Kansas City resident asked Basye about his homophobic language, the state rep doubled down. Basye phoned the resident and continued to spout asinine nonsense about transgender people. “I don’t get [transgender] people at all. Isn’t it great that they can live in America and do that kind of stuff? Where if they were in Iran or North Korea or Russia they’d be slaughtered.” But we may have heard the last of Basye, who is stepping down due to term limits after eight years in the House. Even without term limits, the former air-traffic controller, who once introduced a bill to make it legal to turn left on a red light, would face an uphill battle in his district, which was redrawn to be more favorable to Democrats. All the better for Missouri, we say. —Rosalind Early
